NEXUS Chapter 2A: "Dollars In Your Eyes".
|
Post by Zachary "Zaber" Scryer on Jan 19, 2020 21:28:57 GMT
C Rank Mission: Dollars in Your Eyes. The forum message Zachary sent out was direct and clear. Upon the streets of Terminus, Zachary, aka Zaber, had agreed to meet his new friends. They had agreed to meet to possibly meet his friend and employer, Starmon. As the bustling city of Terminus was as busy as ever, with all variety of Digimon going about their business, Zachary met with the others. However, out of all of them... there was one Digimon who was acting a bit of a sour puss. " Of all the insufferable, maddening, egocentric Digimon we have to go ask... why does it have to be him? " Panthermon growled as they walked forward. Zachary rolled his eyes as they walked down the winding streets, making their way towards Starmon's Card Shop. Clearly, Panthermon wasn't happy to have to see him. While his partner could agree Starmon was a bit eccentric, he was generally helpful and positive. Plus, with the interest to raise money for their group idea, this was a good idea to see if he would sponsor their efforts. " Come on, Panthermon... He isn't that bad," Zachary tried to insist. The cat growled again at Zachary. " He made me a walking billboard, made us enter a humiliating game show and works me like a dog! I take that personally!" the cat replied. Zachary restrained from laughing as he looked back at his friends, Cion, Pickle, and Jojo. " Well, Starmon might have a few quirks, but he is generally a good guy. I get most of my cards from him. So I think it is nice if we took him up on asking him to help us with our group. Besides, if we help him out with work, it will put him in a better mood too." he explained.

To be honest... there was, particularly thanks to Cion's support, no reason for the group to acquire sponsors and associates. The truth was that the unassuming fennec was as pecunious as she was powerful. Financing a proud base and sustaining it for decades to come would have not been an issue. However, she did not share this personal information with her new acquaintances with a very specific intent in mind.
She wanted to witness how far they were willing to go to pursue their grand aspirations. Desires, like unity among two species, demanded passion, sacrifices and prowess. Did Zaber have these qualities as a naive leader? Were his votaries prepared to impose some of this burden upon themselves, or would they falter and relinquish their hopes for placid submission to the status quo? Solely time was bound to tell, but she observed the children with a sincere modicum of intrigue.
Admittedly, the silver fox cared little for the Starmon, nor his supposedly unpleasant antics. Compared to what she had accomplished already within the few years of her current existence, not to mention during the eons of histories and worlds that were long forgotten, running a store alongside an ol' coot was hardly an event that concerned her. Besides, the boy apparently got along with the guy, although she had more trust in Panthermon's discernment.
Ultimately though, she had nothing to say. Hence she shrugged calmly, keeping her lips shut as they ventured through the bustling streets of Terminus. Gosh... this city's pretentiousness was equally as brazen as it was a meaningless facade for those who had dared to venture deeper.

Pickle was very excited for this. Not only as it the very first official mission for the founding of the new team they had joined, but it was a chance to get to know even more about the Digital World and lend a hand to someone in need! Sure it was just helping out around a shop, but anything that let them be useful to others was good in their books. They maintained a moderate pace through most of the trip through Terminus, however as soon as they rounded a corner and saw the others walking along, Pickle couldn't stop themself from breaking into a sprint. They raced up to the others and, about 5 feet before they collided with the group, shifted to skid to a halt, arms pinwheeling to help them maintain their balance. As soon as their momentum petered out, they launched into a hug for each of the others.
"Hi! I hope you weren't waiting too long, oh man this is so exciting, our first official job! Do you think Starmon will let me take a look at some of his cards? I'm curious what TCGs are like on this side, you know?" They were, as always, grinning wide enough that one could assume it was painful. "I've helped out around shops a bit before, but never in one like this!" The were studying the exterior of the store keenly, taking in every detail of the signage and the window displays.
"So you've met him before, right Zachary, Panthermon? What's Starmon like, you said in the message that he's a bit... difficult. What should we know before we go in, is there anything we should avoid saying or doing, stuff that we can do to put him in a better mood, things like that." As delightful as this whole situation was, Pickle didn't want to go in blind. Information is important whenever you can get it. If they were going to succeed in making a place where everyone could meet and be safe and work together, they needed to do whatever they could to ensure success, no matter the job at hand.

John walked in a leisurely manner, not in any hurry but still wanted to make it on time. "You remember anything about this Starmon that Zaber talked about in the post?" John said beck to Runa, who sat in his backpack. "A little bit, seems like a energetic Digimon from what I've heard, you?" John shakes his head, "Nah not really, don't know if this will be a pleasant experience, but we do need the cash and the sponsorship if we're gonna grow."
John turned the corner to come across the others, he waved to them while Runa peeks out of the backpack, a little more comfortable around them then last time. "Hey guys, ready to make some cash? Personally, I'm interested in trying out that card game." Runa turned to John, a slight smirk on her face. "As if you could win, your poker face is terrible." John lightly flicked her forehead. "At least I don't have a tell through a waging tail. Tell me, what's our score at?" Runa flicks her tail back at his hand, which he pulls back quickly.

Zachary knew Cion was there. For a small fennic fox-like Digimon, she was probably more mature than anyone else there... panthermon included. He would never voice it but it was somewhat comforting but at the same time hard to explain, but felt the need to impress her. She seemed a bit judgmental, but that came with being mature, wasn't it? Though, she didn't seem happy to be in Terminus. While Zachary understood her feelings about the town, it still didn't change the fact that this was where Starmon was making shop now. Perhaps that might change... However, the scream of the most energetic person in their newfound team-- going by the alias "Pickle", came running at them. Zachary wanted to dodge the hug, being too soon for a person he didn't know too well. Regardless, he endured the hug. " Uuum... THank you. Hug's are appreciated, if a bit random," Zachary said, feeling his personal space a bit violated, but knew it came from the best of intentions... likely. Panthermon, however, the hug wasn't as welcomed as the cat froze and resist the urge to growl or repulse. He endured it, but looked up with a pained look. " I got the strange feeling Pickle and Starmon may hit it off..." the jaguar Digimon groaned. With John and his Partner Runa, they soon reached Starmon's card shop. It was kind of impossible to miss. Though a modest looking, large single plate-glass window to show the inside, somewhat obscured by posters and signs of different card logos or extra-sized cuts of cards. Moreso, the sign on the top of the store had a 'shooting star' with a winking-face. Starmon's naturally, with the name "Starmon Card Emporium" written in the tail of the shooting star. Panthermon grimanced at the shop, and Zachary chuckled in mild pain to see the egocentric design of the shop. " Well... you can tell Starmon is a bit Helocentric, if you can get my meaning. He will value his self-interest highly, but he tries to be good around people... most of the time...Still, when it comes to money he can become rather one-minded. " Zachary explained, " Not to mention you gotta be sure he doesn't rope you into any crazy gigs or ideas. He tried to make me dress up like a giant Numemon to lure people to the shop." Panthermon growled and shook his head. " Goldramon forbid we have to do anything like that. I'm a warrior of darkness, not some cute mascot..." the cat replied grumpily. Clearly he hated being looked down on as 'cute' , but some would find him cuter all the while despite it. It was tough being a feline Digimon as good-looking as he. " Anyway... I'll introduce you guys. Just remember to be on your best behavior..." Zachary warned and approached the door. The door bell jingled as they entered the shop. It looked a bit in disarray. While decorated with posters, shelves and tables-- it looked oddly more like a warehouse. However, a game shop was a game shop. THe tables were bare with rows of chairs-- intended for people to come in and play the card game with one another, and went to the back of the store. Shelves held boxes of different products, including starter packs and booster packs. What stood out the most in the store was the glass case that was alit with light-- and showed individual special cards that were clearly significant. Shiny foil ones, and specialty cards that were considered rare and valuable. Such as an Omnimon/Omegamon, Seraphimon, UltraforceVmon, and other special cards, including upgrade and modify cards. " Oh-ho! Who's there now? Customers? " an exhuberant voice spoke as the digimon turned from cleaning the shelves and revealed himself. Naturally, the digimon was indeed a "Starmon". The character was a star-shaped body creature with two arms and legs extending from it. He wore blue and red gloves and boots, and had a 'scarf' of some kind following behind him. A red diamond was attached to the top of its 'point'. " Oh! If it isn't my favorite customer and valued employee, Zach! Put it there!" Starmon urged, raising a hand for a high-five. Zachary rolled his eyes and approached. He gave the Starmon a well strengthed high-five, exciting a cheer from the Starmon. Like Pickle, he seemed to be very energetic and peppy. But just wait... he wasn't always sparkling with starry joy. Starmon soon saw the others with him, especially Cion and realized the unusual company Zachary kept. " Hmm... what's this now, Zachary? You telling your friends of my amazing prices and deals? " he asked, trying to rope in some customers already. " Look no further for the best card-deals this side of the Digi-World. No other card shop will beat me. " he boasted proudly. Panthermon rolled his eyes this time, and growled. " You're the ONLY card shop in the Digi-World, Starmon," Panthermon replied flatly. Hearing him, Starmon went over to Panthermon and began to exceedingly pet him on the head like Zachary did. However, his tone was a bit less friendly and a bit more mocking. " Daww... is the pussy cat being a bit of a sour-puss today. Poor fluffy kitty--" Growl! Panthermon tried to make a relatively minor swipe at Starmon's hand, but the star pulled away fast enough with a laugh. It seemed Panthermon's attitude was nothing new to the Starmon. Zachary cleared his throat to try and interrupt the spat. " Starmon, these are friends of mine. THis is Cion, Pickle, Jojo, and his partner Ruka. " Zachary introduced the rest of them. " A-ha! Welcome, welcome! Any friend of Zachary's is a potential customer of mine! Are you major collectors? Dabbling duelists? Hm?!" Starmon went on in a loud tone of voice. Clearly he had an energy that made him seem rather 'unbearably' bright.

Admittedly, Cion mostly carried herself as an observer of this afternoon, and only an active participant in the sense that she was willing to put in some effort in earning Nexus' first honest bits of currency. Remaining quiet during delightful pleasantries and unimportant explanations, Panthermon's serious and self-awareness were nonetheless worthy of an amused chuckle. As mature as she usually was, she often found joy in the silliness of others, particularly her acquaintances. And the warriors of darkness' pouting was indeed amusing.
Sighing nearly inaudibly, the silver fennec alongside her company entered the hybrid of messy store, warehouse and lounge. As to be expected, sets of common cards were placed amidst those few which held a substantial value. Having witnessed uncountable waters under the bridge rise and fall in popularity throughout the ages, she had long since ceased to indulge herself in such expensive and aggravatingly fleeting joys. She preferred entertainment for soloist anyway, like many video games or the innumerable spoof videos on the internet. Nevertheless, she recognized the importance of the nearby items as vital tools for those who could not rely on themselves.
Calmly beholding the interaction between Zachary and the Starmon who owned the shop, she folded her arms and briefly allowed her mind to drift. Especially as a member of the defunct organization PROFIT, she had met a practically infinite amount of people who had performed the quaint act of attempting to sell her something she did not care about in the slightest. Thankfully, this stalwart, ladylike poise she had attuned to become an essential aspect of her personality, hence utilizing it, even after several years, was easy.
"Pleased to meet you, good sir. And if you wish to know, I've never played the current version before. I am a neophyte." She kindly introduced herself with carefully selected words. She had remembered how her temporary leader had described the owner's idiosyncrasies, and thus far he had not been wrong. As to not be in the project's way, she decided to humor the moneybags for the time being. Though it was true that she had no experience playing with this generation of cards, this did not mean that she was easily beaten. Strategy was among her fortes.

Zachary and Panthermon's reactions to their hugs were very entertaining to say the least. Pickle did think it was a bit sad that they found it uncomfortable or embarrassing however, and resolved to help the pair get through that. Hugs would be part and parcel with their greetings for them now. Everyone needs a good hug now and then after all. They were all here now, and before anything else Pickle made sure to give Jojo a hug as well. No one can escape their affection! No one!
The exterior of the shop was, in their mind, perfectly suited to someone called Starmon. The sign was a wonderful touch, the didn't understand why Zachary seemed so put off by it all, and as they stepped foot into the shop itself, their enthusiasm for this whole situation ratcheted up yet another notch. Cards and other gaming merchandise sat on shelves that were practically from floor to ceiling, all neatly sorted and on display for whatever hopefuls came in looking for fun. The tables were great too, any good gaming store had to have places for people to make use of their acquisitions. Pickle wondered idly if Starmon ever hosted tournaments. The particularly impressive display case filled with rare cards had their attention almost immediately after, and they were on their way towards it when Starmon himself appeared.
His personality was, in Pickle's mind, exactly like that of just about every enthusiastic salesman out there, but the energy was refreshing to be certain. That his interest focused on things like card games was yet another point in Starmon's favor, and as they stepped up next to Cion and threw up a victory sign with one hand, they beamed at him as they spoke, already more than excited to begin.
"Hi! I'm Pickle, your store is wonderful! I haven't played yet, I wasn't even aware this game existed which is a horrible lapse on my part, but I'm very interested in learning if there's time!" They were bouncing slightly in place as they talked, their genuine enthusiasm clear for all to see.
If only Starmon was a bit less focused on profit, as Zachary had said, this would be pretty much perfect. But that was okay really, he was a businessman after all and they had come here for funding as well anyway.

John was surprised at Pickle’s hug for a moment, before returning it, Runa slinking back into the backpack as the energetic girl quickly approached the two of them. When they approached the shop, Runa peeked back out to see the sign, now she didn’t think it was bad, nor did John, to them it did what was needed for a shop, to catch your eye.
Entering the shop, the two of them began to look around, Runa now out of the bag and perched on John’s left shoulder, she may not like interacting with people she just met, but this was a business meeting of sorts so she was putting her best paw forward.
Starmon was exactly like his shop, loud and attention drawing, he seemed to radiate a sort of energy, much like Pickle does, although while John could deal with it, Runa would not be able to handle being in the same room as him for extended periods at a time. John smiles and holds out a hand to shake, Runa does the same, but with a bit of hesitation for just a moment. “Nice to meet you Starmon, I’m Jojo!” “And I’m Runa actually, not Ruka.” Runa took a glance at Zaber, a bit annoyed that he got her name wrong.
John continued his introduction “I’ve heard about this game from Zaber, me and Runa are interested in giving it a try, if that’s possible.” He finished, Runa nodding.

Zachary felt a pain of guilt at the mistake to the adorable fox digimon as he turned to Runa. "I'm so sorry Runa. I am rather bad at names for the first few times," Zachary said a bit, sincerely sorry for his mistake.
"Ho-ho! Newbies eh? Well, we got a great deal on Starter Packs, yep we do!" Starmon laughed in a merry mood. "Always glad to meet new custom-- I mean enthusiasts," he corrected .
Panthermon grumbled a bit, easily seeing through the star's showmanship.
Many of them were very passionate about Starmon's business and the game that involved the cards. Zachary too was a fan of the game itself but knew from experience the real value of the cards. "The cards aren't just used for a game. The game feature was added later-- but for tamers and even other Digimon, they are far more valuable," Zachary explained to them. Using his own for example, Zachary took out his Digivice onto the nearby table-- showing the violet-colored D-Power, and a few cards he had. A Cherubimon, Duftmon, Agunimon, Power Chip Option Card, and a few others in his collection for example. "A Tamer with a D-Power, for example, can use the cards to give their Digimon unique abilities or enhancements that they wouldn't have on their own. For example, Panthermon who often uses Fire attacks could use a Frigimon card--" Zachary showed them the Frigimon card in the pile he had and pointed to it. "-- and Panthermon could use its Ice Breath or Sub-Zero Ice Punch to use ice attacks. Or an attack boost card to make him stronger. They can be anything, and in a split-second issue, they are powerful tools. But the game allows a bit more insight and good training for strategy." Zachary explained. He clearly had a love for the cards, as it gave himself a sense of 'value' in a fight beyond just helping Panthermon digivolve.
"So, what exactly brings you here?" The star asked Zachary.
"Well, that is a bit of a story. I kind of want to ask you something of a business venture-- but first, do you want some help around the shop? We are more than happy to pitch in." Zachary asked. He didn't dare mention the plan to see if Starmon wanted to sponsor Nexus. Better get him in a shiny mood with them helping out a bit first.
"Here we go..." Panthermon groaned as he laid down under one of the tables, and yawned in a jungle cat manner, showing his teeth a bit as he did so.
The Star's eyes widened with excitement and he rubbed his hands together. "Ah-- excellent! Why don't you all get started!" the star said as he dashed off for a second. He went into the backroom, shuffled for something, making a rather hasty racket as he did. He soon emerged with a cheerful 'look' on his black face where only his eyes could be seen-- holding a broom in one hand, and a clipboard in another. "I'm gonna need a few hands around the shop, any takers? I need one of you to sweep the shop, to hand out flyers outside advertising the shop, and sort boxes in the back. Any takers?"
The call for boring chores clearly wasn't going to be pleasant-- but they had to be done to keep Starmon energetic and happy. Ether way-- Zachary as a part-time worker had to help out too. But if the others want to put Starmon in the right mood to bring up Nexus-- that would be the way to do it.
NOtes: By whoever posts first, second and third-- pick one of the three jobs to help out, and your responses should follow which one you pick. Either stacking, opening boxes and putting out merchandise on the shelves as one, another being to sweep the shop to clear out dirt and such, and finally going out around the shop on the street and hand out flyers to advertise the card shop. Please pick one and help out

Pickle listened to Zachary's explanation of the purposes of the cards in the shop with wide, glimmering eyes, as eager as always to learn something new about Digimon and their world. The fact that this place even had power-ups of a sort only made them even more delighted by it all, their mind whirling with ideas for how much more diverse their abilities would be with the aid of these cards. Their lack of the means to make use of them at the moment didn't bother Pickle one bit, they'd just have find a way to get what they needed to acquire the means to use these cards while Spirit Evolved. What mattered now was the job at hand.
Zachary's approach to negotiating with Starmon by first buttering him up was a good idea, but they had a feeling Starmon would have at least some inkling as to what was going on. The proprietor of this shop seemed much more shrewd than his outward persona would suggest at first, but so long as it worked it didn't really matter. The moment Starmon began listing jobs, Pickle's hand was in the air.
"I can hand out flyers! Would people on the streets be more inclined to take them from a human or a fellow Digimon? Because if need be I can change." Sure they could clean or sort stock, but being outside talking to people felt like a much better idea to them. They had a lot of energy at the moment, and they felt that their friendly attitude would be a boon as well. "I can even change between the two from time to time if you want, Starmon. That way there's more variety."

Runa just nodded to Zaber at his apology, choosing to not let it bother her and look around from John’s shoulder. The two of them listened to the conversation Zaber and Starmon had, when he gave the job options Runa felt a bit of dread at the give out fliers job, and then relief when Pickle picked that and went outside.
John thought about the choices left and quickly figured out what he felt would be best. “Well I think that we’d like to take the sorting boxes, Runa and I can get that done quicker as a team, you okay with that?” He turned to Runa, she shrugged in response.
The two of them began to work on getting the boxes sorted out, John would take out the items in the boxes, put them in groups, and Runa would take the objects and put them in their respective place with great speed. After John got them all out, he would help put the rest on their shelves.

To be honest... Cion was almost spacing out upon witnessing the most likely unnecessary explications in regards of the cards. Though she was admittedly not very familiar with the game, she knew all too well that kind of bothersome boons they were in combat situations. They enabled digimons to utilize abilities of varying types and levels of might they otherwise could not. In nearly every case, this required a human to intervene with a special device. There were of course a few exceptions, but those only served to proof the rule.
And truth be told - she was not a big fan of this interposition and reliance on gadgets to prevail. To her, everyone had their strengths and weaknesses. Mastering the former and overcoming the latter was a maxim that proud warriors should adhere to constantly. Substituting this with tools was a mistake in her point of view. It made people lazy and dependent, which were two aspects that would ultimately become detrimental to those who relied on them. Besides... she loathed MacGuffins, be they for an evil or good purpose.
However, she was neither here to judge nor voice her vexation. No, the silver fennec was present to observe the aspiring leader and his followers, and to be of assistance if the need arose. And, to be fair, the children that had assembled certainly were sedulous. Hence she was more than willing and glad to pull her own weight. "I shall clean then." She declared kindly and confidently after her acquaintances had finished picking their preferred roles.
Once she was alone to pursue her task, a faint, iridescent aura manifested itself around her aureate eyes and white paws. Quickly, it engulfed the cleaning agents as well. Apparently with the power of telekinesis, she pursued her job admirably, granting dust and dirt no quarter as if she was a supreme housewife. She did so while softly humming a calm melody.

Everyone had a job to do-- Zachary included to help with the desk as he usually did, since despite his past with some people he knew how to really show good customer service. However, Panthermon hid under the table for the moment, to avoid the humiliation to come. PIckle was just as enthused and when Starmon heard that they could do it as Digimon, he liked the idea. " Really? That be great-- hold on for juuuust a second!" he said and sprinted into the back room. " I can't watch..." Panthermon groaned and Zachary waited to see what Starmon was up to. The Starmon came out holding up a rather human sized 'object' that was oddly shaped like a giant Starmon-- including its black hole and eyes-- but with a cut'in and parts to wear as a giant promotional costume! " If you go like this handsome Digimon outfit, it will really make you look like a Digimon!" Starmon said, clearly unaware Pickle was a spirit-user. Panthermon groaned and covered his eyes with a paw. As Runa and Jojo agreed to help with sorting and opening boxes. Starmon was happy to hear that. " Great-- the boxes are in the back right next to the door. Bring them in, open them up and sort out the new card packs on one of the tables over there. " Starmon directed them to one of the card tables. That would be simple enough. That, unfortunately left Cion with sweeping the store. A gleeful look came to Starmon as he picked up the broom. While Cion was somewhat in her own thoughts and finally said she would clean, Starmon handed her the broom into her hands-- luckily just a little taller than her to use but enough to do the job to get the dust out the door, and clean the front of the store. " Thank you, little lady! I really appreciate this." Panthermon looked to Cion, clearly realizing how it could hurt one's pride to be a strong Digimon and be reduced to medial labor. " You want some help, or ---" he asked, but was interrupted by her odd power that just dissolved the cleaning solutions and began to spread it about-- as if magically cleaning any dust or impurities in the shop. " Whoh..." Zachary gasped, surprised by Cion's ability. She made it insanely easy. As everyone would start with their designated jobs-- some done in an instant, Zachary looked to Starmon as he approached the desk. It was time to see if they could work out their plan. " Um, Starmon? Can we talk?" Zachary asked nicely, while he was checking a binder of cards behind the back desk. " We been working for a while and , I was just wondering--" " Nu-uh! Nope!" Starmon said, pointing a finger at Zachary, " You know the rules. The only raise I give you is in cards!" Zachary frowned a bit at that, being interrupted, but that was Starmon-- always jumping to conclusions when it came to his cards and bits. " No... that isn't what I was going to ask," he said, and began to clear his throat, " Starmon, my friends and I are working on a rather large project. To make a group for Digimon and tamers. A guild where we can create a place for them all to be together. But that kind of thing cannot be easily done without funding and Um, well..." Starmon flinched at the mention of funding. That was NOT a good sign. SLOWLY, HE TURNED... " Funding...? " he asked almost ominously, his eyes beaming with a odd feature. Regardless of the other's activity, that 'chill' would go through the air for a moment and. It soon dropped dead as Starmon sprinted up right to Zachary's face, his eyes right up staring at him. " We were...hoping, haha..." Zachary said with a nervous laugh, " That you might be willing to sponsor us. You know, so we both bring in business to each other? " Notes: Write out your activities with your chores, but Starmon was soon asked about the sponsorship, and of course his reaction is a bit... intense Good luck .

Truth be told, there was not a lot for Cion to do at the moment. Thanks to the mastery of telekinesis that her apex form provided, turning the store sparkling clean, even with the subpar tools at her disposal, was easy as pie and finished before it began. The job basically did itself, solely requiring her mental instructions and a bit of focus to bend the digital ether to her will. Nonetheless, the words of gratitude by the stereotypical clerk were welcomed with a winning smile. No matter how simple the task, appreciation was always becoming.
As was an offer for assistance - in this case from the quadrupedal feline. Disregarding the fact that a lack of opposable thumbs likely proofed detrimental to manual labor, she shook her head calmly. "No, I'm fine. But thank you, darling." She responded kindly, evidently esteeming Shadow's possible support. And as she started utilizing her powers to simplify her work, Zaber's open astonishment was music to her ears.
Chuckling, she briefly grinned with glee. The lad truly had no idea who she was, nor what she was capable of. But this was okay. She did not want to be treated differently because of what she had achieved. She preferred to be recognized as the individual she was - one who carried herself with grace, eloquence and courteousness. And given that she was liked in spite of her at times brutal honesty, she had apparently succeeded in this.
Now the time had come for the boy to proof that he had what it takes to be a leader - to stand up for himself, his votaries, and the ideology they desired to promote. Triumph, stagnation or failure... these would shape the future of NEXUS in a fundamental way. Hopefully, he understood the importance of his pursuit and would remain tenacious. She could help him develop this wonderful project, but he alone had to lay the cornerstone.

The two of them followed instructions, placing the packs quickly and efficiently. They split the pack types between the two of them evenly, placing them in piles with example packs in front of each one. Runa was quicker, but could hold less, and John was slower but could pick up more, overall they both finished almost at the same time.
John has a smile on his face as he works, when he’s done he holds a pack from one of the finished piles, Runa looks at him with a curious look, “What is it, you thinking of buying?” She asked, to which he shakes his head, “No, it’s just nice to be doing something for once.”
He places down the pack right where he got it, and making sure it was neat and tidy, walked up to Starmon and Zaber, Runa hopping back onto his shoulder. “We got the cards sorted, anything else you need done?” he asked.
