The Network Plains were considered a very calm slab of lands surrounding a more heavily guarded shell. That shell was typically thought of as the defacto capital of the Digital World, or one of the huger ones, so it was always...interesting to Hisato that the area surrounding it was, in comparison, not too populated from what he was able to find.
It was not always calm here, however. In fact, sometimes it was far from that. There were few trees in the plains but they did serve as landmarks of sorts. Scarab had insisted that the person they were looking for, a Sealsdramon(?) would be lurking around one. The teenager and the azure Wormmon did agree that just approaching that would be a bit of a brazen move, so they were sneaking up. This equated to Hisato staying far behind while Scarab kept low.
...
At this tree proper, a mechanical dragon-like creature sat, flipping a knife to and fro. It genuinely seemed to be minding it's own business, but a loud cry of "HEY!" made it raise it's head and narrow it's monoeye at the source of the voice. A large (for a Rookie) beetle with a scarf was standing a ways away from it.
"....State your business." The Sealsdramon uttered in a monotone. The Kokabuterimon didn't really expect a response, so...he took a bit to answer. "I-I'm...uh. N-Nothing in particular?" ...Perhaps he was out of his depth some. Hisato and Scarab could both see this, and the two quickly exchanged a mutual statement of 'What the fuck?' When did that bug get there...?

Where in the seven hells was she? One moment she had been strolling through the streets and now she was standing amid a dense forest, the sound of birds and insects forming a backdrop. Instinct took over, the need for self-preservation overriding any and all other concerns. With that in mind she had climbed a tree, scanned the horizon and seen...a city. A truly gigantic city sprawling in the distance. With destination in mind she climbed down from the tree and started walking. That was until Ryuko’s gaze rested on a..very strange duo of creatures ahead of her. One looked like a child’s idea of a dragon crossed with a navy seal and the other was an oversized insect. Where these the ones responsible for Ryuko being stuck here? Or where they merely dangerous? The prospect of them being peaceful and friendly was not one she wanted to risk the element of surprise on. With a single swift motion she crouched down and withdrew her knife, the blades glint catching in the dappled rays of the sun. She slowly crept forward, circling around bushes and avoiding the light.
From her hiding place behind a bush she watched and waited, blade gripped tightly just in case things went south. Whatever these creatures were they were obviously dangerous and charging in blindly would have the pinnicle of foolishness in this situation.

This was probably one of the stranger things one could find themselves being introduced to the Digital World by. On one end, a rather fearful bug, and on the other, some mechanized reptile that's an evolution of a tryhard species. That also probably has 300 confirmed deletions.
"Seriously, what the hell is this?" Hisato muttered as he kept low and next to Scarab, who snorted. "Don't know, but keep watching. Spotting's hard work, you know?"
"...I sincerely don't think this is spotting." The teenager replied. It probably wasn't. Neither of them were even aware there was a fourth party lurking in a bush! The same probably couldn't be said of the other two, though.
The Sealsdramon stood, clutching it's own knife as it sparked with electricity. "You." It began. "You're partnered, aren't you. Where are they. Tell them to show themselves." Naturally, a number of assumptions were being made. A number of half-assed assumptions, at that.
Were they correct?
"...N-No? What're you even..." The beetle began. "...What the shit?" He finally uttered.

Partnered? Just what on earth was this knife clutching sparky thing going on about? The longer Ryuko sat here watching the more her instincts screamed at her to move or get involved. She was not sure what this knife creature meant by “partnered” but a sinking feeling in her gut made her feel as if it was her. However, if one of these strange creatures were able to detect Ryuko’s presence, then what if the other had done so as well? This could all be a plan to lure her out from her hiding place.
Ryuko began to slowly back away, carefully placing her feet against the ground toes first. She watched where her feet were going so as to avoid any twigs, crumpled leaves or anything else that could give her location away. However, for all of her caution what she did not notice was a patch of mud. Her foot landed in it, squelching audibly in the otherwise pristine silence of the forest.
Mentally she swore, slowly folding her knife away and storing it inside her jacket. Her legs tensed, muscles taut as a spring ready to burst out into a run at the slightest moment. She had no idea how well these beasts could hear but there was no way in hell she was going to take the risk. Ryuko’s expression her twisted into a caricature of caution, forehead lined with wrinkles.

This was a most comedic exchange to be faced with, wasn't it? A confused insect and an irate mechanical dragon...thing? It was hard to tell what the Sealsdramon truly was. In truth, Sealsdramon's monoeye was able to detect something that was not a Digimon nearby, but he wasn't able to classify what it was outside of it wasn't a Digimon. Totally useful, really. It didn't hammer in the fact that whatever produced this creature was probably bootlegging it at all, no.
There was an audible squelch that drew the attention of both the Sealsdramon and the Kokabuterimon. "That. Explain that, then." The knife-toting robo-dragon barked, much to the irritation of the Kokabuterimon.
"I don't know what that was! Certainly nobody that has anything to do with me!"
Back with Hisato and Scarab, though...Yeah, they could tell they found something there. Or someone? It was hard to gather information from a very one-sided argument, right? "So, before you get after me for asking you to do something stupi-"
"Let me guess. You want me to fire a warning shot and scare this guy away for the third time. Solely because of whatever's in that bush that made enough noise to piss that guy off." Scarab let out a tiny, audible groan. Fine.
The Wormmon stuck his head out as a blue glow emitted from that lil triangle on his forehead. Before a beam roared out. It wasn't aimed at anything, it just went shy of the bush and the Sealsdramon. "...Not today." The robot muttered as it seemed to vanish into thin air, only a shimmer being seen as it...ran?
In the meantime? The Kokabuterimon backed away from whatever that was. "...I need to get out of here." And you know what he did? He scurried away too!
A tense silence descended on the plains for a good minute or two, before Hisato called out. "We clear?" ...He had no idea if anyone was actually there or not. Please help.

“Damn it…” There was no real point in maintaining secrecy at this stage. She swore under her breath, just about to bolt but then she saw it. A beam of energy from a bush opposite tore through the clearing, missing any of the creatures and dissipating harmlessly. Whatever purpose that energy beam was supposed to serve perhaps it had served it? The strange insect creature and the one threatening them both made their escape. Good riddance too.
However, Ryuko was now left with one problem: who was responsible for that energy beam?[/b]” Creeping away from the mud Ryuko circled around the outskirts of the clearing slowly creeping towards the assumed origin point of the energy beam. It did help that a voice called out, giving away their position. She came up behind the Wormmon and Hisato, tightening her hands into fists.
“...Kid I do not know what that worm is but it is dangerous. Step away from them.” Ryuk charged for the Wormmon, fist flying towards the small digimon more than ready to pummel it. The JSDF marine’s face was a perfect picture of emotionless. Cold, focused, locked firmly onto Scarab. Perhaps it was reckless to merely attack without asking questions but given the energy beam and how dangerous that knife wielding beast seemed? Ryuko had enough data to act.

"Alright, tracking that guy down again's on you." Scarab uttered with actual dismay as he crawled out from the bush, followed by his tamer. "Should be easy. Guy never resorts to flying or anything, so he leaves a trail after a few feet. ...Starting to wonder if his everything's faulty."
"It's from one of the D-Brigades, of course it's faulty."
Hisato turned at the sound of a voice telling him to step away from the 'worm.' Assumedly Scarab. Scarab on the other hand, turned around to find a 6 feet tall human (his height at champion form, for reference) charging for him.
Okay, to her credit? She had the element of surprise here, and he did just fire off his strongest attack at this form as a warning shot. He got sent rolling, but he quickly regained his balance and pointed his rear at Ryuko.
"On the contrary, I know what he is and he's with me." Hisato stated. "...I'd appreciate it if you didn't up and -punch- him like that."
"Can it, kid!" Scarab kept his abdomen leveled squarely for Ryuko. "Who the hell are you supposed to be?"

Ryuko’s fist connected with the creature and sent them rolling, which allowed the marine plenty of room to readopt a fighting stance and plan out her next move. However, it turned out further offensive behaviour would be uncalled for and perhaps had been an overreaction to start with. Ryuko’s eyes darted from the oversized worm, or was it a caterpillar?, to the scrawny looking youth.
“....My apologises then. I assumed he was as aggressive and dangerous as that knife wielding creature.” Immediately the offensive attitude simmered down as Ryuko lowered her fists, standing straight at attention. That assumption was definitely a blunder and while it did not show on her stoic face, the JSDF marine was definitely feeling a great deal of discomfort at her screw up.
“Ryuko Nakamura. JSDF Marine.” She answered curtly and directly, her gaze refocusing upon Scarab. She did not fully trust the creature but...they did seem a lot less prone to aggression than the one with the knife from before.

As Scarab regained his footing, the Wormmon adopted a stance that Hisato immediately recognized as 'getting ready to Digivolve,' which was truly the more hectic way this sort of encounter could progress towards. Luckily? The woman(?) did at least listen to Hisato and opted to not continue accosting Scarab.
The assumption was pretty true, though. The Wormmon muttered a 'damn right' beneath gritted teeth(?) at the woman. "Only under the right circumstances and if you pay him enough. Otherwise he just talks a lot of smack. It's...debatable how true it is, though." Hisato shrugged as the lady introduced herself as a...JSDF marine?
"What the fuck's a JSDF?" Scarab asked the first question to pop up in his head. "Japanese Special Defense Force. Also, that's -really- unprofessional of you." The teenager chided the bug, which...well, that was a fair point? This was a marine, after all. Don't see one of those every day, but for one to get...thrown in here?
"Well, Nakamura-san, I hate to potentially cause a lot of confusion, but you're -far- from Japan at this very moment, even if it's possible to go back there." Hisato wasn't sure how exactly to break this iceberg with the marine but a start was a start. He was also mentally preparing for a potential barrage of questions here.

“I see..” She shook her head, deciding to simply focus on the more important matter at hand: namely where on Earth Ryuko had found herself and how she could return home, if that was even possible. Or at the very least that’s what she wanted to do but before that she had to correct these two on one small detail.
“Japanese self-defence force, not special-defence force. Japan is, due to treatries from the resolution of WW2, not allowed a traditional army. Instead we have an armed force that focuses upon maintaining national security.” Ryuko had to admit she was a little surprised that Hisato made that mistake. He did at the very least seem to be a Japanese citizen.
“I had already assumed I was far from Japan but do elaborate. Where am I? And what is that city I saw in the distance?” Surprisingly Ryuko was by no means distressed about the situation. She knew this was not Japan and saw very little familiar terrain. Fortunately enough, maintaining a level head in situations like this was one of the many lessons her military career had pushed onto her.

Okay, so he had gotten the acronym wrong. A relatively simple blunder to make but not the worst thing in the world to have done. Nonetheless, Ryuko did have the right of things. Hisato knew the history of Japan pretty well--he was born and raised here, after all.
Scarab, however, uttered a quiet "bullshit" at that. He had seen DATS. Was it related to that? Well, the Wormmon didn't actually know that. But he figured they were related to an extent. The woman did have questions, though. Questions that were easily able to be answered. Where was she, what was that city?
"Not Earth." Scarab put it simply. "Basically..." Hisato started, before he trailed off. Okay, he couldn't hit her with the conclusion that she might have gotten more or less isekai'd. No, that was too stupid. "...You, me, and several others are in another world that's entirely digital in nature. That city in the distance is the capital--the very center of it from what I know. There's...a lot more to it, but I'm not sure where I should start."
Hisato had managed to at least begin an explanation. Where that would go depended on how Ryuko would take it.

Ryuko’s gaze locked onto the oversized bug, glaring at him. Had she heard what she thought she had…? No. Reckless suspicion, distrust and assumptions were the mistakes Ryuko had made earlier. The marine’s gain softened and she readopted a neutral expression while absorbing the answers to her questions. Surprisingly, it did not disturb the marine as much as one might have been expecting.
“I see...I had assumed I was far from Tokyo but another world entirely? I am not sure I fully believe you but what I know for sure is this: I am not in the city I was in this morning.” Her head turned towards the city in the distance, eyes tightening into an expression that was equal parts frustration and drive.
“Then my path is clear. I am unfamiliar with that city in the distance. Would you be willing to serve as a guide?” Again Ryuko’s expression changed, turning into a painting of pure discomfort. She did not like being forced into situations where she had to rely on someone else. It was not born out of any inherent distrust but simply an attitude of self-reliance hammered into her over the years.
