At least in that regard, both Koharu and Magnus seemed to agree. He had never been super big on the whole formal clothing deal; he could get behind using comfortable clothing unless completely necessary. “I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing. Definitely not me, but some people like to dress formally, y’know? I don’t think it’s a bad thing to cater to them every now and then.” It wasn’t that big of a deal, at least when it happened with relative infrequency. He could definitely do that.
A shrug followed suit. All things considered, he was probably assuming a fair deal of things, even though those assumptions were based on previous experience. Sure, he had a ridiculously small sample size, but anything was better than nothing, wasn’t it? In any case… “Most of the time, I dare to say? At least from my experience, the average digimon partner tends to be quite knowledgeable about a variety of topics. Figured that tended to be the case more often than not, judging from experience; it’s good to know that’s not always the case, however.”
What about the following situation, though? It was indeed a dicey one; a misinterpretation, perhaps? The brunette stared for a second before recovering his composure. His statement must’ve been misinterpreted in some way. Slowly, he took another bite of his food before shedding some light on the issue. “I meant in the way that your partners taking care of you won’t be a permanent thing. Dynamics between beings change and evolve and I’m sure that, given enough time, they’ll realize that you don’t want to be doted on and adapt accordingly. As with most things, relationships take time to grow and bloom.”
Hopefully that’d make things a little clearer in regards to the potentially unsavory topic! He hadn’t meant offense by it, even though that seemed to be the case. Luckily, such a topic could promptly be left behind by the good-natured teasing that every gentleman should have in his arsenal; Magnus hummed, a bit surprised. “You mean it’s not normal to compliment a girl for her beauty the first time you meet with her? That seems like a waste, if you ask me. I also feel like there are better ways to break the ice, even though your method worked well enough, I guess; it might be for the best to just leave it be. Probably.”
Chuckling in a good-natured way, the male couldn’t really hide his amusement at what he perceived was his date’s counter attack. “Why would it be teasing? I’m merely stating facts.” He replied, a bit slyly. “Do you really think I’m a womanizer, though? That’s a little disappointing. I thought I’d make a better first impression…”
Or maybe not. Magnus didn’t look like he regretted a word he said. He listened attentively to what Koharu said regarding his partners, nodding at the exposition once she was done with it. “Sounds like they have an excellent relationship if you ask me; that’s good to hear. I’ve never had siblings, but I would sure like to get along with them if I had any. What about you, Koharu? You got any siblings?”
Nodding at the following question was only natural. In a sense, Akemi and Katherine were his new family; they feel like a strange kind of daughters, or maybe nieces? It was hard to tell, especially because they all were just as mature—if not more than him. He found himself smiling a bit unconsciously before being brought back by Koharu’s question. “Akemi?” A wry smile immediately took over his features. “You’ll have to find out by yourself. That way, we’ll have an excuse to meet again, don’t we?”
It was pretty evident bait, even though Magnus didn’t mind how glaringly obvious it was. The answer made way to a nod. “Don’t worry about the place, though. What matters the most is the company, isn’t it? As long as it’s good, everything else is kinda accessory.”
He didn’t expect what came next, however. A potentially life-threatening situation sounded pretty dangerous, yet the possible gains from it seemed fairly important. The brunette seemed a little stiff for a second, even though he was deep in thought. “That’s quite the tricky question, and I honestly can’t feel like I can give you an answer that satisfies me with the limited amount of information I’ve been given, you know?” A pause. “Yet… if it’s something as dangerous as you say it is, I’d probably make sure to increase my odds as much as I can before committing to that endeavor. Failing doesn’t look like an option there.”
A smile followed suit as Magnus stood up, a smile evident on his features as he extended his hand for Koharu to do the same. “I think you should embrace that search, though. It seems like something very important to you, and leaving it behind seems to cause you distress. I wouldn’t mind accompanying you, if it weren’t for the fact I’d be dead weight.” Probably not as simple as that, but it wasn’t like he had a lot to work with. “I think we’re ready to go. Hope you had a nice meal! I sure did.”
The date was probably drawing to its end, but that wasn’t precisely a bad thing. As far as Magnus was concerned, he had a hell of a good time.
