Another year, another risky attempt at a Valentine's date! This time, thankfully, no dating apps were involved. Instead, just a brunette who liked to play cupid! Which, in hindsight, Elsie was realizing had the potential to be far worse than any dating app! Why did she agree to something like this?
Elsie really needed to learn how to resist peer-pressure dates! She wasn't really looking for romance anyway, was she? Well, at this point, it was starting to look like it! Maybe it was just a subconscious thing. That was totally normal, right? Just like it was totally normal for both parties to survive their dates, completely unscathed! Yeah. Normal!
Sitting in a pizzeria, the blonde fidgeted, while waiting for any human to walk through the door. Even if it was just Amy, shouting about this whole thing being a prank! But, it looked like that particular event wasn't happening. Probably because it was a 'holiday' and everyone else was busy doing other people things! Why would anyone spend the day trying to torment Elsie, after all?
Aside from whoever had agreed to attend this date. Clearly, they must be crazy. Which hopefully meant good things for the duo's chemistry!
Red eyes stared down at the table for a moment, scrunching her nose. Being in the Digital World meant that she couldn't spontaneously stress-text her twin about all of this! Instead, she was forced to be... patient. Ugh! What could cause such a tragic fate? ...Well, probably being early.
At least this year, it didn't seem likely for any date to be falling into a pond. Pizza places seemed pretty safe, as far as water went, after all! But, hopefully, the teen wouldn't have to wait too long. Anticipation was going to kill her!
What type of person was she being set up with, anyway?

It said a lot how little Shizu knew of her sister's friends when she genuinely thought that accepting the peer pressure from Amelie and letting her put her up for a blind date for Valentine's. The month, not the...day? Eh. Who cares.
The main reasoning behind accepting was simple in that Shizu wasn't really looking for much. She thought it'd be fun, and it'd likely make the other person have a lot of fun too, right? She could always rest easy knowing she helped someone's day be a bit better, right?
Of course, it was a blind date. She had no idea who she was even being paired with. At least it was an opportunity to get acquainted with Deeplane. The western pizzeria...seemed easy enough to find. The less than tall girl wandered through the entrance wearing the...same clothes she usually wore in the Digital World, save for the fact she had a blue headband.
...
Shizu wasn't sure what she was expecting from a pizzeria in the Digital World, but there were Digimon allover the place eating pizza, with weird things that looked like the EbiBurgamon from Rosewood there.
Painful a memory as that was, she quickly picked up on the only other human here(?) and made a beeline for her. "Hi, uh, are you the...person I'm supposed to meet here?" ...The blonde looked familiar. Hm.

Romance could sprout from weird places, right? Like Pizza Shack, or whatever this place was called, that totally isn't trademarked. Maybe it would be crush-at-first-sight! Or, familiar-person-at-first-sight? With the girl that entered the pizzeria, Elsie had to admit there was something familiar about her. And it totally couldn't be because she knew one of the girls relatives!
On the bright side, clearly neither girl had over (or under) dressed! Elsie was just in casual clothes, with a light sweater and a skirt. After all, this was pizza! Not a high-class restaurant. Possibly, because there was no way Amy would have talked Elsie into meeting a stranger at some ritzy place!
Seeing a human heading straight for her, it was a pretty obvious cue that her date had arrived! Considering, they were the only two non-digimon there, weren't they? Did that make things weird? Surely not! Maybe. Elsie wasn't sure. She didn't know the other girl yet!
Standing up from her seat -- which was surely the proper thing to do for a date, right? -- the blonde flashed a smile. "I think so!" She hoped so? Otherwise, things were going to be really awkward, really fast! "I'm Elsie," she introduced, before gesturing to another seat, and then sitting back down if the other girl also decided to sit. Hopefully she would. Standing in a pizza place might get weird! "What's your name?"
That seemed like the best first question to ask, right? It would be pretty weird not to get names out of the way early on!

Love could indeed spring up from the oddest of places. Luckily for Shizuka, the liberal application of Occam's Razor (simplest solution = best solution) had worked quite well, as this blonde lady had -indeed- been the person she had been told to seek out by the mutual acquaintance who was also obnoxiously French. "Oh, nice! ...It would've been pretty awkward if you weren't, eheh..."
Nonetheless, after a single second of melting at Elsie smiling at her (it was actually pretty cute), Shizu nodded once. "Shizuka. Just call me Shizu." She replied as she sat down next to Elsie. The name was...familiar. Plus, again, she looked pretty familiar. That was probably going to nag at Shizu the entire date. "Elsie's a pretty name--kind of mysterious, too." Which made it sound cooler? Hm.
Within a few minutes of the girls both being seated, a true horror that was probably bound to the very existence of Deeplane itself came waddling up to them in the form of a Burgamon...But wrong. How was it wrong, one may ask?
It had a pizza on it's head. And it was entirely bright yellow, like a nonspecific mascot for a trademarked chain of pizzas. This was no Burgamon in the slightest, no. This...Was Pizzamon. Which had the unfortunate honor of being the literal only custom digimon the author of this post would ever dare to come up with.
"Eyo! It's me, Pizzamon. Lemme take ya ordah."
Brutal butchering of the English language aside. Pizzamon slapped down some menus in front of the girls. Shizu...blinked at the creature as it waited patiently. "That's...not an EbiBurgamon?" She muttered quietly. If one were to glance at the menu? There was a fair bit there. Pizzas and pastas. Also something called a calzone? Hmmmmm.
"...I know this might sound strange, but wanna try tackling one of the bigger pizzas together?" Shizu piped up after about a few seconds of looking through the menu.

Shizu must be a mind-reader, knowing how awkward a mix-up would be! Or, maybe that just meant she was capable of thinking, because just about anyone would come to the same conclusion! Elsie really needed to get her mind out of these mystery-date jitters! "Right?" Yep, just agree with how awkward it would be. She was smooth. So smooth. You're gonna win all the girls' hearts with this sort of personality.
As for a pretty and mysterious name? The blonde had never thought of it that way! "Thanks," she commented, a little slowly, before adding a far-more-enthusiastic, "I can be pretty mysterious sometimes, I think!" No, not really. "I think your name is pretty, too." Was it mysterious, though? What made a name mysterious?
Elsie decided it was really for the best that she didn't think too hard on that one.
To utterly fail at breaking the ice, they may as well keep talking until a terrifying waiter would arrive, right? "So, how old are you?" The girl was tiny. The was no way she could be older than Elsie, right? But, Amy hopefully wouldn't pair the girl up with someone super young either, she'd hope!
At least this horror of a custom-mon would stop Elsie from asking too many random questions right away! All this digimon needed was a mustache, like a certain Italian plumber. For a moment, the spirit user would slowly tilt her head while staring at the Pizzamon. And then, as if remembering it was rude to stare, focused on the menu! "It's so not an Ebiburgamon," she'd confirm, just as quietly. Which, sort of made sense she guessed. A burger digimon served burgers. Why not a pizza digimon serving pizza?
But, Shizu's strange suggestion didn't sound so strange to the blonde! In fact, she seemed to light up at the idea! "Ooh! That sounds good! Are there any toppings you like most?" Elsie, herself, wasn't too picky! Though, she really had to hope that Shizu didn't crave something like salty fish on her pizzas. That would be a bit weird, right?

Honestly, if by some astronomical margin, Elsie wasn't the person Shizu was looking for here? Then yes, it would've looked incredibly awkward. And it'd have left the shorter girl stumped as to who the heck she was supposed to find, too.
"Oh, me too. And thank you!" ...Was that what she was supposed to say to that comment about being able to be mysterious sometimes? Probably not. Point is, she regarded that with a smile. What girl didn't like compliments?
Mystery aside...She could definitely answer this question. "Fifteen! You?" That might be shocking. Maybe? Hm. The arrival of the walking Geneva convention violation that was Pizzamon (now with an image that might never see the light of day outside of direct messages on Discord) did prompt a brief bout of conversation. They seemed like they both agreed that this was -not- an EbiBurgamon.
So what was it?
Just a harbinger of pizza. God, how disgusting. "Toppings...Uh. I like meat and bacon on my pizza when I can get away with it. Uh...A -lot- of people say you don't put bacon on pizza, but if that's the case, why's it available?" A big conundrum indeed. Needless to say, Shizu did feel a bit nervous about admitting that. Even if bacon on pizza wasn't really that outlandish a choice if at all.
"Eyyyy. Sounds whacky. But can do! ...Seriously, we's Pizzamon. If it has pizza in it, it's doable. That whatcha want?"
...Just hearing this was grating on Shizu's ears. She looked to Elsie for confirmation and a hopeful go-ahead to send this walking war crime off for a bit.

Everyone needed to be mysterious sometimes! Maybe. Probably? Elsie actually didn't know. Was Shizu mysterious? Right now, considering Elsie didn't know her, she definitely was! So, they were both mysterious, right? The blonde debated saying something about this train of thought, but decided it might be a little weird. Don't be too weird on a first date. It was, like, rule number one of dating! ...Again, another probably. Elsie wasn't really sure about that being the first rule of dating, either. Maybe she was just bad at this.
But, wait, Shizu was fifteen? Well, that erased any chance of Amy having tried to match up Elsie with some little kid, at least! But, it took a lot of effort not to squint at Shizu to see if she was lying! She was so... little! Either way, good news. It was always good to spend time with people of the same age! "I'm fifteen, too!" But, who was older? No need for that kind of competition right now, though. Not when pizzamonsters were around, with their questionable accents!
And questionable existence. Pizzamon was just weird, honestly!
"I like bacon," Elsie confirmed, "as long as it can have pepperoni on it, too." Who knew what meats Shizu wanted? Just a bacon pizza? All the meats pizza? Elsie wasn't fussy. Pizza was pizza, after all! And Pizzamon was...
Definitely not as good as pizza. In fact, she was getting progressively more concerned that Pizzamon was going to haunt her dreams for the next month or so!
"Can I get whatever sort of cola you have, too?" Please, do not introduce Sodamon. Or Popmon. Or Whatever-Way-The-Digital-World-Called-Carbonated-Beverages-Mon. Pizzamon was enough! "D'you want a drink?" Would Shizu go drinkless? Hopefully not. Who ate pizza without something to drink? Drinks, and if a person ate pizza with a fork, were two very defining moments in establishing what someone was like, purely based on their pizza habits! It was time to get one of those tests out of the way!
And once the pizza abomination was gone, they could continue talking! About something, surely. Though, at the second, Elsie was drawing blanks on where to start!

The mysterious blonde was also fifteen? Huh. What were the odds of that? Probably...either large or slim. As was said earlier, Elsie did look a little familiar to Shizu, but she couldn't really place why. Or where she could've possibly seen her before. How...frustrating. Not that it was a detriment to the date.
Back to that! "It most certainly can!" ...Shizu had half the mind to add 'my fair lady' onto that for some reason, but she felt like that'd make things a bit awkward. She didn't want that. Not for such a sweet girl.
Pizzamon was bad enough, after all. "Sure! Hope you like Coca-Cola. I don't mind drinking Pepsi, though. Place offers both...somehow?" Shizu was primarily going with the former, though. The pizza abomination did indeed depart, which left a curious void in the conversation. One that would not remain for long.
"So...What's your favorite spot in this city? It might sound weird but...uh. I haven't been here very long, and I'm...wondering if there's any nice places to check out here. My sister refuses to tell me, so I'm resorting to outside help! That being said, uh...Know any?" There was a glint of legitimate curiosity in Shizu's eyes. She knew Elsie was a founding member of this city, so...What were her thoughts on this? Hmmm?

Pizza toppings were a success! Elsie was still oblivious to any chance of familiarity of the other girl, though. She was pretty dense on a regular day, let alone on a first date! Shizu could probably tell her that the sky was green right now, and she'd consider it as a possibility!
"Wonder what Coca Cola and Pepsi taste like, mixed together," Elsie commented, after drinks were placed. No, don't test it. It's forbidden. But how often were both served at the same place? It was a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Totally disregarding the fact that she could just buy two bottles at a grocery store and test it someplace that wasn't public.
Either way, she wasn't going to steal her date's drink to make terrible combinations of soda, anyway. That'd just be rude!
As far as the blonde's favorite spot in the city? She gave a small hum, while tapping a finger to her cheek. "I like a lot of places," she admitted, after a second. It was hard to pick just one! "You ever been in Deephold?" Not a random question at all! "Some of the rooms on the high levels have balconies. My sister and I have a room there with one, and it's great!" Some people feared heights! Elsie seemed to thrive on them! "I found some, like, grooves in the walls along the balcony, that I can climb to get higher too. But, uh," important disclaimer time, "probably shouldn't climb buildings if you can't fly." Next important disclaimer? "I can't fly." Thank God Evie could! Otherwise, Elsie would probably hurt herself a lot more often, by doing dumb things.
But, climbing tall buildings that probably shouldn't be climbed wasn't really for everyone. So, Elsie decided to add some more contenders! "There's an arcade down the street, too. They have those racing games with fake motorcycles and stuff." Now that she thought about it, was it a little strange to have those in a digimon arcade? Surely, some digimon far exceeded any weight limit those poor bikes might have! Oh well. Elsie fit, so she could sit, and that's all that really mattered. "And there's a ferris wheel in the Eastern District," finally including an important question to these suggestions, "are you afraid of heights?" Don't suggest climbing buildings and getting in ferris wheels to people terrified of tall places! Maybe she should think of alternatives in case Shizu was.
For now though, remember that ramble about denseness at the beginning of this post? After a small pause, the girl crossed her legs, while a blank expression fell onto her face. Wait. Shizu said something that just hit Elsie's brain.
Head tilted slightly, and an innocent tone broke from her mouth. "Who's your sister?"

"I...don't think I want to find out right now." But. This was a good question. A very good question. This forbidden concoction needed to be pursued in time. "Let's try that some other time, okay?" Shizu decided to offer that with a smile. How would Elsie regard that?
Deephold...She had heard the name. That was the structure at the center of Deeplane. The castlescraper, as she and Akemi had taken to calling it between themselves. She knew of it. But, Shizu had never been in there before. "Me too. I've not been there, though...I'll admit, however, it looks real big!" A pause.
"That's fine, I can't fly either. I can jump pretty high when I spirit evolve, though. But, at the same time...I don't think I can catch falling cute girls in that form." Oh! An idea just hit Shizu. "A room, huh...You should show me later!" At no point did it ever occur to Shizu that this was probably not something you ask someone to do on a blind date.
Much less the first date. "I'm not afraid of heights, either. I actually kind of like heights." Why else would she want to see a cool room with a balcony? Anywho. Elsie's denseness was picked up by Shizu, but...she didn't really seem to be offended by that or anything.
"Another Council member. Her name's Akemi. Wanders around with a lippy bean that's also sometimes a creepy skull-goat with thighs. Also, both of them like hats." Again. What would Elsie think?

Post by Elsie and Evie on Feb 29, 2020 4:50:30 GMT
Elsie couldn't really argue with Shizu's comment. Such a forbidden experiment probably wasn't meant for a pizza place, anyway! "Deal," she agreed, without a hint of displeasure at the compromise. It was a better response than thinking she was weird for debating it! Undeniably!
But Shizu seemed like she was willing to roll with just about anything! Even with visiting Deephold! "It is super big!" the blonde agreed, with a nod. It was! And she'd managed to snag a room pretty high up, too! And, more excitement surely meant more denseness! Right? Thus! The next logical thing to say, after completely missing a portion of what Shizu had said was, "yeah! We should totally go there later!"
And then it would be time for the 'dense' cloud to fade!
Within seconds, the teen tilted her head, and opened her mouth. Then, snapped her lips shut, while pointing her index finger at Shizu, before bringing it to her cheek. Was. Was that supposed to be. Uh. Maybe...
Maybe Elsie shouldn't think about that quite yet. It had to be to just see the room, right? Right. Definitely. There was no other way this date would go!
Thankfully, Elsie had other things to worry about. Like? Shizu being Akemi's sister. "What," was the only thing Elsie could utter. It was such a flat-toned word that it was hard to tell if she was asking a question, or if 'what' had somehow become a statement on its own! "Yeah, yeah, I know 'Kemi and the bean," she stated, after a few more seconds.
How would Akemi feel about all of this? She seemed like a pretty chill person overall, but would there be any issue with Elsie being on a date with her sister? They were kind of friends, after all! Or, at least, Elsie thought they were! "Does she know you're on a date with someone in her team?" Did she approve such a thing?
Not that Elsie should really worry about it. What's the worst outcome, even if Akemi didn't approve? The blonde getting pelted by a fat bean with wings? Maybe. She supposed she didn't really want to imagine a bad scenario, here! But, maybe that meant she should make sure that Shizu had a really good date! Akemi couldn't get upset if her sister had a great time, right? That's totally how this sort of thing worked.
"Are you her little sister, then?" Would this further the chance of Akemi having a protective-big-sister mode? Well, physically, Shizu was definitely the little sister! But, Elsie realized she actually had no idea what age Akemi actually was! Though, now that she was actually thinking about it, Shizu and Akemi really did look quite similar. How could she have missed it before?

Now, the chief question one has to ask themselves in a date is always some form of 'am I having fun?' Shizu had a pretty good answer for this, and it was that she was. Seriously, her date didn't seem boring at all!
And Shizu also only realized what was wrong with what she said all too late, except...Elsie didn't seem to notice it? Or did she? That finger rising up indicated something...A slightly aghast expression graced Shizu's face really briefly, as though she had seen a ghost, before slipping away just as swiftly as it had come.
It really was just to see the room. Holy crap she didn't even intend for any weird connotations from that. Moving on from that, Elsie did seem to know her sister! In fact, it even seemed as though she was friends with her. "I...um. No, I don't think she knows." If anything, Shizu was pretty sure Akemi would be okay with it.
It's not like anything bad would happen if she didn't. The sisters were their own people who could make their own decisions. "I am. Two years her junior." Was that how one said it? Hm. In the meantime, THAT Pizzamon could be observed slowly walking towards the table with a platter that held...a pizza. And drinks.
At the same time. Generally, one got drinks before the pizza, but for some weird reason, Pizzamon were capable of just bringing both at once. Shizu didn't seem to notice it, though. "What about you? Do you have a sister too?" ...She was fairly certain she knew this answer, but...
She couldn't remember if it was yes or no. Hopefully Elsie wouldn't mind, given she just asked about Shizu's own sister! Either way, Shizu seemed to regain whatever composure she had lost. Which, hopefully was good.

So far, it felt like this date was a success! Granted, there was still plenty of time left to this date, but there was no way that it could crash and burn by now, right? Maybe, Elsie shouldn't jinx it. Potential bedroom-related misunderstandings aside, that was! But these two very innocent and pure girls would never relate bedrooms to obscene acts! That had to be a fact. Definitely.
Though, she still had to be a little concerned about Akemi's feelings toward a friend being on a date with her sibling. But, maybe that was just because Elsie was a bit overprotective regarding her own sister! Even though it seemed like there was absolutely nothing to worry about in that regard, considering the other blonde's track record. "Huh," Elsie stated, partially dismissively, and partially confused. It was becoming a bit more obvious that the Amayas were not as close as the twins. But, maybe that made sense.
Especially since there was a decent age gap between them! From a teenager's perspective, at least. "She's that much older?" How could that be? Akemi was so... little! And, so was Shizu. These girls were doomed to never be able to reach the top shelf! At least a certain bean could fly, and probably help with that issue. "D'you have more siblings, too?"
She was more interested in the conversation than noticing a certain mon-of-pizza headed toward them, though! Which, was honestly for the best. Nobody wanted to find Pizzamon more entertaining than their date. More traumatizing, definitely. But, that wasn't the point. Focus on the date, not the horror. Best policy to live by, really.
As far as her own sibling, though? "Yeah! Her name's Evie," the girl nodded. Easy enough common ground! Having sisters, and all that. "We're twins." What a scary thought, the potential of two Elsies running around in the world! But, there probably wouldn't be too much time to worry about something like that! Because Elsie could see the Pizza-abomination-mon in her peripheral vision now, which only meant it was a matter of time before they'd begin to eat!

That misunderstanding seemed to have slipped by without much issue. That was good. It seemed like Shizu and Elsie were more focused onnnn...Shizu's sister. And Elsie's own, as a result! The smaller girl gave Elsie a nod. "Mmhmm. We both kind of...got the short end of the genetics stick, though." Which would probably explain their less than impressive height compared to the rest of the council.
"It's just me and her, though. No siblings to be found. We couldn't pass Anzu off as a sibling because every time she gets a holosuit, it's got pink hair and looks like a girl from an anime. Looks nothing like either of us." Shizu was pretty invested in this conversation too, even as Pizzamon drew ever nearer.
Did this creature dare to speak? Did it dare to dispense food? No, it just listened. Like the piece of cow dung it was. Shizu still didn't even notice it was there, no. The thought of two Elsies just hit her and it hit her hard.
"...Hey...What's that like?" Shizu decided to hazard that question out of some genuine curiosity, before Pizzamon cleared his throat. "Ey, it's me. Pizzamon. I've gotcha order right here. Talk about whatevah ovah the pizza." Said in the exact same Danny Devito-esque voice.
Shizu could be observed cringing at the critter. But, she nodded and let the creature set the pizza and the drinks down! The pizza itself was just as ordered. Meat, bacon, and pepperoni. An interesting combination, to be sure. Just as swiftly as it had returned, however, Pizzamon had departed.
"...That thing fills me with so much dread." Shizu muttered quietly. The pizza was already partitioned into slices, so...Who would dare to take a slice? "I'll try it with you. Ready?" Shizu inquired as she grabbed a slice. Hopefully Elsie would do the same!

The short end of the stick was the perfect term for the Amayas' genetics, really! "Is it 'cause you're both super short?" Elsie! You can't just say that to someone! Some people were actually sensitive about their height deficiencies! But, that sort of thought never stopped Elsie from commenting on things, it seemed! "Smol things," people, "are cute anyway." Would that save her from the previous statement? Who knew. Elsie didn't even seem to realize that anything she said could be taken in less-than-ideal ways!
Shizu seemed pretty lax anyway. Maybe that was why she wasn't being too cautious with her words! Or, it was just because Elsie never really thought before speaking, anyway.
Though, it was a little strange that Anzu wanted pink hair for all her holosuits! Was there a reason behind it? "D'you think she wants to be the main character in an anime?" That was the most logical reason, wasn't it? Totally not because some people actually liked having pink hair!
But, the topic soon would turn to Elsie! Or, it almost would! "Hm? Like, bein' a twin?" Before any other answers could be formulated, a wild Pizzamon appeared! Which would be tragic, if not for the [hopefully] delicious items that he was producing! "Th--anks," the teen managed out, as cheerfully as a traumatized girl could muster. Just focus on the food. Not the 'person' delivering it. Food was the goal! Well, food and dates with a cute girl. But, the latter part seemed far more obvious, and a way easier distraction!
Once Pizzamon was gone, there was a small nod. "I just really hope he makes good pizza." What would something called Pizzamon be, aside from horrifying, if it couldn't actually make decent pizzas?
Depressing, probably.
No time to think on that, though! An agreement was to be made! Taking a slice of pizza just after Shizu, she gave a small, but determined nod. "Here's to hoping," she mumbled, waiting until Shizu was about to take a bite, before she did also. There was no way she was going to be tricked into being the first one to eat this!
Hopefully, it wouldn't be terrible!
