A Familiar Fondness (Syre | Valentine's 2020 Event) Feb 1, 2020 8:40:48 GMT

It was that time of the year again. Following the admittedly delightful cold and darkness of the winter season, including its innumerable festivities of commercialism and affection, the population of Earth and the digital realm alike sought to figuratively spread their wings and embrace each other with them. This particular event, a day that most referred to as that of a supposed saint named Valentine, was one that was enjoyed in concept, but thus far had led to a degree of disenchantment. In spite of their charming personalities, the people she had encountered were volatile characters who had not desired a bond with her, be it innermost or amicable.
However, this did not mean that Cion approached the situation she had willingly put herself in with calculated pessimism - quite the opposite was the case. Was it the suggestion the lad she esteemed had given her, or her own initiative to mend her scarred, bruised soul, she had reinvigorated herself by finally approaching those who she wanted at least amity with. The reincarnated paladin, her family... those certainly were success stories for her. But they were aspects of the past. What she needed to do as well was to focus on the present and work for the future, even if it was fleeting.
This first step of all things, or rather individuals, was Syre, whom the organizers of this occasion had coupled her with. Oh - how tongue-in-cheek fate could be. Naturally, she looked forward to meeting the BlackGatomon in person, but there was a cosmic jest to the fact that she was acquainted, if not hand in gloves, with her parents. Dr. Mikemon was an intelligent companion who had probably saved her current existence during multiple crisis situations, while K, better known as Silence these days, was a cherished friend and comrade who had fought forces of evil with her back-to-back several times.
As for the black feline... she believed that she had gotten to know her once before. She was unable to recall what the happenstances were, nor if they had talked to begin with, but something rang a bell. In the end, it likely was of no concern anyway. Maybe it was beneficial to deal with her partner for today as a tabula rasa. Was it a serious endeavor to forge a connection, or an afternoon of fun and games, she was prepared to savor and strive towards either option and a good outcome.
Leaning against a wooden railing, the silver fennec calmly and quietly observed her surroundings with a soft smile. Though the unassuming ascendant, who was but the size of a Rookie, had an overwhelming data signature emanating from her ancient core, there was nothing but gentleness and care in her deeds and stance. Despite it having imposed years of anguish and agony alike on her, she treasured life and held the fundamental wish to witness it prosper. Seeing it grow, flourish and exist in harmony with others... that was her aspiration. Yet the path to do so was shrouded in mystery. But this was a matter for tomorrow.
Briefly clutching her short, green scarf, the vulpine sentinel narrowed her aureate eyes to relish the entirety of nature. Usually, it were the luxurious restaurants near the beaches that she spent her time in. Why not, for they were among the star turns of Whitewater? Nonetheless, the artificial park she found herself in definitely had a charm to it. The bare-branched flora that sprouted latent buds, the ponds in which sometimes a fish breached the surface - combined with the atypically mild temperature for this season, and a glaucous sky free of clouds, it truly was a soothing experience.
But a few steps behind her was the tranquil inn where she was bound to feast and hopefully laugh. Aesthetically speaking, it was a mix of a simple diner and a proper restaurant. It was slightly more fancy than your typical location for citizens, but it was not overbearing. Whoever the owner was simply had an inspiring taste in architecture and interior fittings. If the meals were equally as decent then there was no reason to be concerned.
The only thing that was missing was her actual date. But Cion was not impatient. The enviroment was a facet she could enjoy all day while waiting.
