When she signed up for the valentines event at whitewater she wasn’t expecting this.
Maybe some kind of small gathering place, some small and cheesey restaurant. Not… Well certainly not some kind of beach resort where everything was paid for. Everything was given for the valentines event. She felt so out of place; so many well dressed humans and so many well dressed and poised mons.
And unlike them she wasn’t well dressed, she had a bow tied around one ear and was meekly sitting at the table she was told her partner would be sent to. She had arrived exceptionally early as she was extremely nervous and once explaining herself to the waiters they had brightened up considerably. Even giving her some things to make herself look a bit more… presentable.
Well as presentable as you could be; she still smelled lightly of fish and still looked as though she worked for a living. Which wasn’t hard to see by the slight grooves in her hands from the amount of fishing she did. She was a ‘working’ mon. Every day was something new and well.. It showed!
As the ‘proper’ time came closer she’d nervously fidget, turning down a waiter’s offer for wine; the mon preferring something more like orange juice or apple juice. Which was quickly provided.
Her eyes swept the place and she’d bite a lip. It was so fancy, so nice. SO many people! The dance floor, the fruit bowl bar… tables on tables of samples. This place was really booming, both music and otherwise! Though with each little groove of the music she felt herself flinch. She wasn’t a fan of stuff that resonated like this and the constant droning made her feel a bit nauseous.
The mon fidgeted lightly and stared down at her book, she was… somewhat afraid of what might happen so late here. Well it wasn’t late, it was near… dinner? Maybe that’s why the v-day event started so ‘late’ is that they could get away with giving them a late dinner. So that htey wouldn’t have to prepare much. The antylamon drummed her fingers on the table and shifted to stare out to the dance floor.
It was… well. It was nice to watch people at least. Up until her date got here. She hoped they didn’t mind reading through her book to talk. She knew that not everyone would want that...

Despite Elliot's best intentions, the Digital World held a lot of lingering associations for him. Stress, terror, fear, loss, heartache . . . no matter how hard he tried to see the good sides of his journey, these feelings refused to stop haunting him. Distractions worked in the moment, but the second he lay down to sleep his thoughts crept back into his head. Meditation saw some results, but it never lasted for long. All he needed to do was miss one night of it to lose all of his progress. And a therapist? Well, that seemed like a one-way ticket to a DATS questioning cell. Better not to even risk that possibility.
Yet recently, Elliot had come to a breakthrough. In but a single night, he had stared down the ghost of his past until it backed down. His brother had safely been returned home. The mental blocks holding his Digimon forms at bay had been lifted. And he could finally put a period on maybe the worst year of his life. It didn't exactly put his thoughts at ease. Trauma didn't just fade in a day. However, it did mean he could cast his eye towards a brand new future.
Maybe that was what brought Elliot here today. If he was starting a new chapter of his life, why not put some good memories on the first page?
Elliot was almost relieved to see how fancy the resort was. As part of these first steps to take his life back, Elliot had taken the time to fancy himself up. His usual immaculate standard of grooming was matched by a brand new outfit, hair tousled in just the right way, and . . . was that the slightest hint of cologne? Yeah, Elliot wasn't sweating any of the details here. He lingered at the door of the resort, taking a few moments to gather his thoughts, before taking in a deep breath. He'd be leaving his insecurities at the door today. With his nerves settled and posture straightened, he gently opened the door to the restaurant.
He checked the number for his table, glancing around the room to try and find it. It didn't seem to be at the edges of the resort; was it really right by the dance floor? For a second Elliot cast a baleful glance down at his walking stick, but he forced himself to swallow down the worry. If his date would be disappointed by the lack of a dance, they could probably work out some kind of compromise. Besides, by now Elliot knew there was much worse to deal with than a bad leg.
As the thought settled, he noticed the table with his assigned number over it. The other party had already sat down, a nervously-fidgeting Antylamon clutching a book closely to her. Frankly, Elliot was relieved to see he wasn't the only one nervous here! He let his posture relax some, a soft smile spreading across his face. "Hello," he said, keeping his voice warm and gentle as he made his way to his seat. The easiest thing to do to ease someone's nerves was to keep as nonthreatening and open as possible, right? "I believe you're my date for tonight, yes?
My name's Elliot. What's yours?"

Antylamon stared out to the dance floor, seeming a little out of sorts. She didn’t know how to dance and seeing some people look to her made her shy away from the dance floor. Laughter and gentle gestures followed suit but her nervousness continued none the less. She hoped that her date would be here soon…
Speaking of which she’d turn her head to find… A human standing near the door. She didn’t know who they were or where they came from. But she could faintly smell that cologne, she could tell that he was well dressed and noting the cane the rabbit almost wanted to offer help for him to find wherever he needed to be seated.
But she’d look down at her own trembling hands and realize that she was far too nervous for that. She’d close her eyes and exhale slowly. She could feel her core thumping in her chest and she knew that she wouldn’t be able to help him. So she’d have to stay put for the moment until she worked up the nerve to go help him.
By now though… He had already made his way around, looking about as though he… Wait was he her date? The antylamon shifted slightly and glanced around. Noting that the many tables were full. No single humans were about. No other single humanoid digimon were there too. She’d look down at the assigned numbers. Hers… and one that she didn’t think would be assigned to the human.
However as the human approached she felt her core thumping in her chest and a small blush spread on her face. She’d return that smile nervously and give a small wave as he greeted her. Yes. Very nervous. So much so she knocked her drink over herself. It was water so it’d come out just fine but it’d make her jolt and huff.
She’d dab her napkin on the wet patch of fur before flicking her ears as he asked the inevitable question. She’d slowly nod as that first question presented itself. It seemed as though they were one another’s date.
When asked what her name was the antylamon froze, she’d slowly pull her book open and biting the cap off of her pen she’d quickly scribble something down before holding it up so that the human could see. Elliot being his name, one that she had never heard. One that made her thumping core still for a moment. It was a nice name. Fitting even. Not what she might of picked for him but… She had to admit that it worked very well.
Ah! Sorry. I’m mute so this is going to be a lot of one sided talking on your part. I don’t have a name but you can call me by whatever form I’m in! Right now I’m antylamon. I think I’m your date for the night. It’s a pleasure meeting you Elliot!

"Hey, don't worry about it," Elliot said, a gentle smile on his face. "I'd hate to dominate the whole thing just because you're mute. So don't worry, I'll make sure to wait up and see what you're writing, okay?" His voice was soft and understanding all the while, and he eased himself into his seat comfortably. Sure, he wouldn't be able to hear his date. But that didn't make what she had to say any worth reading, right?
"Pleasure to meet you too, Antylamon," he said as he settled into his seat, casting a brief look down at the menu later. He'd probably take a look at it between questions to his date. In a way, it was one advantage of dating someone who's words needed to be read; he'd be able to figure out what he was eating without being rude! For now, though, he wanted to get to know her a little bit better. "I'd love to hear more about you. Though I can understand if you'd rather I go first," he added, the smile on his face still soft and patient. He always felt a little bit shy talking about himself, but he'd be totally okay with taking the lead if need be!

Keramon perked up a bit and smiled back at Elliot as he told her not to worry about it; ontop of it him not wanting to dominate the conversation. She was used to people steering the conversation constantly; just because she was a mute. Or at least not being patient with her. She’d quickly write something down and hold it up to him; a big smile on her face.
All right! Thank you Elliot. Most people tend to steer the conversation because of it… not that I mind but you know how it can be when something is really one sided! Heck for a while I didn’t know how to write and only knew how to read. So you can imagine all the games of charades I’d have to play!
The antylamon smiled warmly and looked at her own menu, flicking a long ear and adjusting in her seat. She was still fairly taller than the human but that didn’t change her opinion of him. She’d mull over what to ‘say’ as he asked to hear more about her. She’d write down a lot of somethings and then slide it over to them.
Well… there’s not a lot to tell about me to be honest. I was born here in whitewater on a beach of all things. I’ve been on my own since then. I own a small commercial fishing boat and fish for most of my food or money. I live a general peaceful life out of here. I”ve only ever been here and rosewood and uhm… Well. I don’t really do much I’m afraid. I probably should change that but I have no idea to the whats and whys. What about you? I know humans lead interesting lives and come from a strange place called Shibutoyak?
She’d tilt her head slightly as she had addressed something that she figured was the case with most humans. She knew next to nothing about the human world other than humans came from there and that there was a lot of them. Most of the humans that came here were friendly and cheerful! She had never met one she didn’t like…
Oh and this is about as high as I can go at the moment… No further digivolutions for me yet it seems!
She seemed oddly proud of that fact actually...

Elliot laughed warmly at the knowledge of how one-sided things could be. "Of course I know how that feels," he said, barely able to contain his amusement. "After all, I've got an older brother." Elliot froze up for a second after saying this, looking around nervously, but after the words left his mouth realization started to dawn in his eyes. Immediately he laughed again, sighing softly and visibly relaxing in the process. For the first time today, he looked at peace.
Did it occur to Elliot that he could finally say that again?
He "listened" closely as Antylamon told more about herself. She didn't know a lot about the world, yet she had already carved herself a nice little piece of it. Some people took years to run a business, after all, and yet she already had that under her belt. Were Digimon just different in that regard? Or was she just ahead of the curve? In either case, it sounded like a nice life. Frankly, if Elliot's Digital World adventures amounted to peaceful fishing, he probably would've had a far different journey up until this point! "That sounds like a really nice life," he admitted.
"You've got things half-right on our end. Shibuya's a part of Tokyo, and that's where the human world connects to the Digital World. But trust me, it's a lot bigger than that," he started. "That's just one city in one country. And we've got, like, tons of 'em! I think our world might even be the bigger of the two, though the fact that I can't just turn into an AeroVeedramon and fly across the human world makes it a bit hard to really compare like that.
It's got it's own charm. A lot happens there, too, though not usually as . . . big, as it does in this one. But-" He blinked, remembering just what the topic was before he started rambling, before blushing slightly. "Heh, sorry, got a bit carried in the details there. Me? I'm just a student over there, nothing too important or anything like that. I'm just kinda taking life day by day, figure out what I want to do with it all down the line. Between my world and the Digital one, I haven't really had time to stop, smell the roses, and figure that part out. Usually the interesting lives come once we get out of school. Or get to college, at least.
You said you've only been here and Rosewood, right?" he asked, smiling softly. "Is there any place you've been hoping to go? Or are you just kinda taking things one step at a time too?"

Eheh. Well. No siblings for me I’m afraid! What’s your brother like? Is he nice like you?
The antylamon tilted her head and gave the other a big; cheerful yet awkward smile. There was a light blush on her face as she realized what she had written down. Darn. Was she getting all flustered already? Or maybe she just wasn’t expecting herself to write something like that!
It… Can be. It can be. It’s awfully lonely cause a lot of fishermon keep to themselves and not everyone seems to think I’m friendly. Strong silent type mixed with… well. A lot of people think antylamon are intimidating!
The large rabbit seemed to be laughing at this last part; she had no idea about her kin. She had no idea how evil they could be or how twisted some of them could be. She was pure hearted and innocent. The large rabbit tilted her head as the human explained about his world. How shibuya was a part of Tokyo and connected the digital to the human one. Then there was other countries and… well their world was bigger than theirs! The antylamon looked interested and would nod her head as the other continued along. She was hugely curious!
A student? Oh! What are you studying? The human world sounds interesting. Do you think I could go there someday?
The antylamon tilted her head to the other side and blinked. Her ears flopping and one of them thumping on the table making the large rabbit jolt. She’d then nod her head at the first question and think about his next ones. Where… well. Where else did she want to go? There was this nagging sensation and her writing hand quivered. She wrote this next part unconsciously…
Luminas. I want to go to luminas someday.
A blink, a frown and a small tilt of the head before she’d slowly write out something else. She looked a bit confused but ultimately didn’t change that answer.
I do want to sort of take things one step at a time. I don’t really know much about the world so it’s best if I don’t go too crazy in my travels. Though given how crazy it can get on it’s own I don’t know if that’s much of an option heh. Maybe I’ll sail for a bit. Find my bearings that way...
The antylamon turned her head and stared rather dreamily at the ocean. She was quite smitten with the waves and there was a small moment where she seemed to almost forget where she was before perking up.
Say you have a partner right? Like. Humans come with mons most of the time. Who do you have? Are they nice?

Perhaps it was just fate for her.
Perhaps it was something that she didn’t understand fully, but the silence that follow their discussion didn’t lead to much. Meals passed by, people came and went. Some happy some sad. But together they sat there, sharing in that silence. It was lovely. It was something that she felt she needed. They didn’t always need to talk. They didn’t always need to say anything to one another.
Gentle gestures, small chatter. Laughter that would be shared, it was something they could hold to one another. But in the end it wasn’t something that was meant to be perhaps. They were too different. Both of them were lovely people; beyond the fact that they shared so little with one another. She had intended perhaps to ask him to dance, but seeing the cane and not learning about his spiritual nature…
Well it was just natural right? They were at least able to share a meal together and that meant a lot. To her at least. She wasn’t sure about him. This gentle kind soul that she could tell was suffering somehow. Maybe someday he could recover and maybe someday she could be there to offer a shoulder.
But today wasn’t the day she’d do that. Today was the day that she paid her bits to the restaurant [only to find that the meal was free thanks to some very charming Metaletemon] say her farewell and try to figure out what next. What else was on her agenda of discovery.
She learned about humans, she learned their world was so big. So packed with love and adventure. With people of all kinds, more than you could even believe. The digital world might be smaller truth be told… But it was even more packed than the human world was. But density didn’t matter.
Love did.
The peace that came from that four letter word that both the human and digital world could get behind. Maybe just someday she’d see elliot again in one or the other. Did she love him? Did she feel affection? No. Maybe perhaps in the same vein as you would feel affection for a brother or a friend. But it was nice. Nice of her to learn about this one and where he came from.
What wasn’t nice was the walk home, the gentle rainfall that came with soaking her fur and making her have to use one of her massive hands as an umbrella. It wasn’t sad rain. It wasn’t angry and it certainly wasn’t hateful. It was the sort of gentle carressing rain that you would get from the world telling you that everything was going to be okay.
The gentle drizzle that guided you to where you needed to go. For her that was home, back in the docks. The gentle lapping of the water as it was split apart against her fishing boat. The creaking and shifting of her small vessel as she stepped on it; the water splitting across the deck and the netting groaning as the added weight soaked in.
She trusted in him and the digital world to do what they thought was right. Even if it didn’t seem that it was okay now it would be later. She knew he’d have struggles, she knew she would. But they would get through them. As friends, as family or perhaps something closer in the future. But that future wasn’t now.
This future was her taking a seat on her couch, drying off with a towel. Flicking through the radio stations for some gentle tunes. The soft humming tunes of a reppamon. A holy warrior recanting the tales of old and the tales of new. Gentle actions that lead into the embers of change.
The antylamon found herself being touched by this music, touched by this future that this mon so distant from her recanted. If she could hum or sing along she would. But instead she found herself swaying on the couch with the tune. It was just for her and that was okay.
She’d lay down after the song ended, the silence that followed was strange to her. Up until the reppamon started to share personal experiences. The soothing and gentle voice of this loving individual giving to the world managed to make her smile. She’d close her eyes and leaned back. Finding herself resting against the couch, slowly sliding into a position of rest.
She had a bed most certainly and would have slept well there but… This world was opening up to her today…. No. Both worlds were opening up to her. Both worlds; one beyond her reach and one right here in her lap.
That too was fate.
