Mission LinkThere was simply no way for one of Luminas' own court to look natural out in the forest.
To many, this would have just been an ordinary day. The weather was fair, if slightly overcast, and the forecast had no foul weather for the upcoming week. It was a good time to try and get work done in Rosewood, or try and make an expedition out into the woods to try and find a truffle or two. The normalcy of the day was in stark contrast to the figure just outside the path, though, a Gazimon giving a sideways glance at the figure as he walked on by, shaking his head.
Granted, it was rarely a good sign to have a Seraphimon out in your neck of the woods! The angel stood resolute, stance unflinching as he awaited his guests. Off to the side, an Aruraumon gave a frustrated groan.
"You know," his gravelly voice rolled out, "you don't have to meet them front and center. If you ask me, standing out in the open like this is just inviting trouble."
"Considering the stake of what's at hand, I fear I'm not the largest signal here in the forest, plant."
"Tch..." Alright, he had a point there. For a mission about relocating a god, the Sovereign's data was noticeably absent - though, that effect was likely more manufactured than not. Behind the very notable signal of the Seraphimon, if a Digimon was intent enough, they would note that there was a giant section of the woods where they wouldn't be able to sense anything - and the resulting radar on a Digivice or D-Tector would come up as a giant, grayed-out circle on the map.
... A temporary measure to hide the beast, at best. "Well, let's just hope this group's more understanding about all this. Because frankly, 'peaceful' or not, I wouldn't want to be the one 'mon who set that guy off..."
The plant shuddered, though the Seraphimon just seemed to let that concern roll off of his shoulders.

The blaring obviousness of something was wrong was… really amusing actually. Given the fact that it wasn’t really normal for a mega level digimon to be standing around in rosewood. Heck the guards here were what? Ultimate level at the highest? So the champion level meicrackmon wasn’t terribly out of place past a few odd glances.
It was even less difficult to find where they were ‘starting’ in the mission; overhearing people talk and the mumbling of why an angel was here… Well. It gave her a really good headstart to figure out where she had to go! And it made it really easy for her to find the angel anyways given his signal was making everyone round here nervous.
And her own sensitivity to signals was something to consider. She could feel him just walking off of the train platform. She’d shake her head a few times and step lively to where she knew the angel to be. The two mission poster holder people would notice her just as easily as she was walking down the street.
The jade orbs that she had lazily floating behind and around her as she approached; giving them a very friendly wave as she got closer!
”Hi there Mr. Seraphimon Sir! I’m holly! One of the mission people. Mission holders? Mission sign eees? I don’t even know what the term is. But I’m here! And these lil orbs are my helper Jade! She’s like a super computer data collection hub that’s connected to me.”
She’d roll on the ball of her feet, looking somewhat cheerful. The last time that she had dealt with a sovereign was fighting the already weakened phoniex variant off in the dark area. So she was happy to at least be able to talk to this one!
”I’m kinda surprised that I didn’t sense them while walking into rosewood. I’d figure they’d have some kind of huge signal with blaring neon lights screaming “I’M HERE.” But instead there’s nothing; is that your guys doing? Or did they do it themselves? Either way that’s really ingenious, is there a name for that or is it just kinda...”
The meicrackmon made a little wobbly hand motion indicating it just kind of was a thing and didn’t really have a name… Either way these two would likely have to deal with a million some questions from the meicrackmon until the others arrived...

The Sovereign of this section of the Digital World...Toki had encountered it before, during a desperate plea for its aid. For that reason, he felt it was the right thing for him to be here. Something was wrong in this place he had protected so many times before. He would help get to the bottom of it, whatever the case might be.
He had also worked with Luminous once before in response to the current Demon Lords dilemma, so he was among those he had assisted in the past. Hopefully that would give him some kind of idea of what was going on, or some advantage in the investigation to come. Still, it was best to worry about that when the time came. For now, he approached the designated meeting zone, hearing a flurry of unending questions from a Meicrackmon. That seemed awfully familiar, though Toki was also getting better at understanding individual Digimon data to help differentiate them. "Well this is a pleasant surprise! Holly! Good to see you again and good to see you haven't changed a bit since we met in Terminus. How long ago even was that? It's hard to keep track of the time, especially in two worlds." He mused, though was nonetheless happy to see a friend here.
He looked over at Seraphimon and bowed politely "Toki Akiyama, spirit wielder. I came here as soon as I saw the missive. Do we have any information to go on so far, or are we going in blind when we meet up with the Sovereign? Truth be told, this whole thing troubles me. With everything going on in the Digital World I'm worried about what might happen next. Ah well, regardless of what's going on, you can count on me. I assure you."
He had been through a lot in these past years in the Digital World, but there was a semblance of pride in his accomplishments and how much he has bettered himself as a person since the beginning. He owed it to the Digital World to work his hardest to make things right, and gather a like-minded group in doing so. Perhaps damage control was his strong suit. Aiding others and giving them hope in the midst of complete chaos and disaster. Toki's confidence has been torn down many times, but it's been rebuilt into something near unshakable now.

Well, this was going to be quite the interesting mission. Certainly, this was not the first time Kenny and Skadi had dipped their feet into dealing with powerful, literally Godlike entities, like with, say, Cherubimon or Anubismon, but they were rather indirect in nature. Here? Along with Seraphimon, they were going to outright directly help Ebonwumon, one of the Sovereigns themselves. This was going to be big, and if there was any consolation, they did have good help in high places to help them out.
As Kenny rode over to the meeting spot on Skadi in her Canandenmon form, the Tamer well fitted into his KIZNA uniform, the two took a good look in the forest around him with a calm smile on their faces, fully unaware of the enormous sacrifices a select few had made that to save it all. Had they known, it would actually be quite the bittersweet sight to them, that some people put their own lives on the line to save an entire civilisation from being destroyed.
The moment they arrived at the mission place, the two spotted some familiar - and unfamiliar - faces among the group, notably being Toki, all harbouring quite the discussion. Kenny gave them a wave as he and Skadi approached the group, "Hey guys! Hi Toki! Sorry we're a little late here; we just had to do some last minute preparations back there." Skadi had already started to glow a bright white as she leaned down to let Kenny climb off, reverting back to her Valaismon form the second his feet hit the ground.
Dusting himself off, he straightened himself up and turned to address both Seraphimon and Alraumon politely, "Hello, I'm Kenneth O'Hara, human, member of KIZNA, pretty infrequent, but really helpful, helper of powerful, Godlike entities..."
"And I'm Skadi!" The Valaismon quickly butted in with an enthusiastic wave and an equally huge grin on her face, "Kenny's partner Digimon! Nice to meet you!"
Lightly chuckling as he ruffled his giggling partner's hair once more to calm her down, Kenny looked up to the massive angel Digimon towering over them. Everyone else got the more important questions out of the way, so he was kinda twiddling his thumbs a little at this point, "So, um, Seraphimon, sorry if this sounds dumb, but considering we're going to be approaching Ebonwumon very soon, should we take any precautions beforehand before we set off to make sure all of us stay safe? I'm just asking, considering this is our first time encountering a Sovereign live in the flesh. For me and Skadi here, at least."
As far as they knew, Ebonwumon was a member of one of the strongest Digimon groups to ever walk the Digital World. Even with their reputation as a benevolent guardian deity of nature, they still had to take care and tread lightly, lest they find themselves on the wrong end of the beast's awesome power. To be frank, Kenny and Skadi were still a little green, at least compared to Holly and Toki. But Kenny was willing to put on a brave face and face the challenge head on.
At least Skadi had his back through thick and thin.

As the newest member of KIZNA, Kitt knew very well that one of his responsibilities was to ensure help problems throughout the Digital World, ranging from small tasks to big ones that required teamwork from the other members. But helping a Sovereign—one of the four Holy Digimon who are tasked to protect the Digital World and govern its stability— was a job that Kitt felt he was not prepared for.
Passing through other Digimon to the meeting spot, wearing his attire that was geared towards aventuring, courtesy of Eris, Kitt paused and took a moment to look at the forest around him. The five fuel canisters he kept hidden in his cloak chimed against the wind. Strange...he couldn’t sense anything in it or anything coming out of it, almost like it was sectioned off from the land around it. He couldn’t help but get more anxious in response. Something had happened here previously; something awful.
His ears perked up to the other Digimon chatting amongst themselves, overhearing them question as to why an AngelDigimon was out here. He must be heading in the right direction. After about two minutes of walking, he saw a Seraphimon alongside an Aruruaumon, the former being the Angel he was looking for. But they weren’t alone.
Around them was a Meicrackmon, a human with a dark tan complexion, and two familiar faces: Kenny and Skad, all in the middle of discussion. Seeing those two perked Kitt’s attention. They were the first members of KIZNA he met at Sanctuarium Unionis, so he was kind of surprised at their appearance. Well...the board did say that four party members were required so anything was possible really. And seeing that they were all there, he was the last one to show up.
Kitt couldn’t help but feel inadequate. This was his first mission, and seeing how confident everyone was, how strong they were, he could tell they were all experienced. What if he got in the way? What if he was the weakest link of the team and was considered just dead weight for the task ahead? He shook his head. No. He shouldn’t think that. He placed his hand on his chest. If Eris, Ophelia, Logane, and Dio believed in him, then so should he.
He took his hood down, approaching Kenny and Skadi, his tail swishing somewhat excitingly. “Hello. It’s good to see you, Sir Kenny and Madame Skadi.” He bowed. His voice was a lilt, and very soft, giving his usual small smile. “I didn’t know you two applied for this mission. Well, I’m so glad you did.” Knowing that they were here eased the Spadamon's anxiety.
Turning his attention to Seraphimon and Alraumon, Kitt straightened his back and placed his fist to his chest. He cleared his throat. “Greetings Sir Seraphimon. My name is Kitt, newest member of KIZNA. I’m terribly sorry for being the last member to show up as I got a little lost coming here. Frankly this is the first mission that I’ve ever taken part in. And although I’m inexperienced, that won’t stop me from doing my very best, sir!”
He wondered if he was too over-professional with his speech, but since he was in the presence of a Mega-level Digimon, he felt that it was necessary.

"Eh?"
... Well, wasn't their first participant a peppy one! It didn't take much for Seraphimon or the Aruraumon to notice the MeiCrackmon to begin with, but her oddly cheerful demeanor made the plant type raise an eyebrow. The Seraphimon, more resolute, simply gave a nod towards the first arrival. "Holly... the name is somehow familiar, but I cannot place it. Are you also from Luminas?" He gave a short pause. "... The word you're looking for is 'applicant'."
"Great, more holy ones around..." The rookie shook his head, attention perking up at that last question. "That's my doing, thanks. But if we answer everything now, we're just going to end up repeating ourselves a lot."
So, might as well wait for the entire group, right? Naturally, the Seraphimon drew far more attention than the Aruraumon - not to the dismay of the plant - and the angel handled the rest of the introductions as they came. Second was Toki, a human without a partner, to whom the Seraphimon extended an arm. "A little bit of both, I'm afraid. Our 'friend from the past' is at least an approachable one, but with such age might come some reluctance of our era. Even without that, I doubt that he sees the world through the same lens that we do."
Was that right? The rookie's eyes rolled at such a dramatic assumption. The next two groups to arrive were both members of the same team - a tamer with a Digimon that represented a ram, and a solo Digimon closer to some sort of marsupial. Compared to the first two, the KIZNA members came off as rather stiff - stiff, but at lease polite and capable at a glance! "Hm... I'll save the talk about how to hold yourselves for a moment. But, yes, welcome to all five of you. Ordinarily, this is something that Luminas would prefer to handle on their own, but - "
"... Luminas ain't liked outside of Luminas, and the moment the big 'ol Turtle didn't just 'go back to sleep', the angels thought it best to seek more 'level' help." The Aruraumon rudely interrupted, before turning to face the angel. "I'm going to get through my bit first, if you don't mind."
Earning a nod from the Seraphimon, the plant turned to face the group. "Name's Doku, so you don't have to keep tripping over the 'ru's' in my namesake. By Ebonwumon's grace, I've been tasked as his keeper in the short term... though, really, all he's directed me to do is make the woods behind me confusing as heck." He would tilt his head back: "So I did. Got several plants in there - an ivy that makes it so data signals don't go far past the trees, some purposefully twisting vines to make it easy to walk 'round in circles. Eh, originally, they got me commissioned to make a 'temple' of sorts for the statue in the first place."
"... So that would be the first thing." The Seraphimon spoke, after a moment's silence. "Unfortunately, the Sovereign hasn't been responsive to our efforts. Based on the tone alone, he's distrustful of my own efforts - and Doku is content with simply following the Turtle's will."
"Well, what's a year or two of him being around really going to hurt? If you ask me, you're just trying to rush things. If all he wants to do is stretch his legs, at least give him the room to do that before you start makin' this about anything bigger."
... An awkward silence fell between the two, one that Doku broke with a cough. "Anyway. The first part of this is simply addressing Ebonwumon in a way where he'd actually respond. Its clear he has no interest in simply reverting to his dormant form - I suspect direct requests or 'orders' to do the same will cause him to ignore you entirely. And Seraphimon's suspicion is that 'holy' or 'angelic' types will simply be ignored outright... so he's leaving it to you. A bunch of animal-looking Digimon that he'd be more comfortable with to try and buddy up with him. I'm being blunt, but in all honesty, if something is wrong, then I want it fixed as much as anyone."
"Now, if there aren't any pressing questions, I'd start thinkin' of what to say on the way there." Doku cracked his back, taking a moment to shake out his wrists. "And ol' holy's just gonna wait back out here so the Turtle doesn't think you're part of the same group."

Holly rolled on the balls of her feet and gave a few nods to the seraphimon as he seemed to think she was familiar. There was a moment and she had a few answers for him; given that she had signed up for some crazy level missions before… hell her first one was dealing with that sovereign in the dark area! Or psuedo sovereign? Well. She wasn’t exactly sure how much of that she was supposed to talk about.
”Well! I’m going to school for medical stuff up in luminas and I’ve taken several high tier missions from the mission guild. So my name probably has gotten around a little? And surprise Mr. Plant! I’m not holy just cause my name’s holly! Heck I’m the only vaccine variant meicoo I’ve run into. Most are virus or data!”
The meicrackmon let out a chittering laugh and… Well the next person was a surprise! Toki of all people signed up for this mission? She was practically jumping out of her fur; if the human wasn’t careful he was going to be picked up in a big bear hug of all things!
”Back when the only thing I could manage being was a meicoo! Now I’m capable of so much more eheh! Like baihumon of all things! I’d say a good bit over a year cause it was around after the time ma beat that wisemon!”
Holly nodded her head a few times and turned her attention at the two newer arrivals. Kenny and skadi.. They were part of KIZNA? The meicrackmon blinked a few times and rubbed at her neck awkwardly. Oh. Right. That would make sense if the group sent someone to deal with this too. A god being out of their statue form probably would have long reaching consequences wouldn’t it?
”Huh… I wonder why I never ran into you while I was in it… weird! But hello!”
Then the last member greeted kenny and skadi, in such a way that was befitting what the meicrackmon knew some ‘knights’ to be like. Or at least people who were at least very very respectful. She’d lean this way and that to inspect the newest among them. He reminded her a bit of ophelia and was… Wow she could actually smell a bit of ophi on him and something else… something draconic? Odd.
”Spose that makes sense that you’d smell like Ophi, Nice to meet you Mr. Kitt!”
She’d rub at her chin and lean this way and that; looking from one person to another before nodding her head. The meicrackmon turned her head to the Aruraumon as they got down into the nitty gritty. She’d perk up a bit as they told them their name and their reasoning for being here.
”So that’s why you can’t sense the sovereign through the vines! That’s really nifty Mr. Doku sir~ Do you have samples of the vines or seedlings that I could maybe inspect after all is said and done? I’m really curious~”
The meicrackmon flicked an ear as the seraphimon told them what was what. She’d blink a bit and mull over the idea of something and then just shake her head. She’d perk up at the fact that he didn’t want to return to his sleep! The meicrackmon’s face split open in a wide grin and she’d practically bounce from foot to foot.
”Well! Why not just chat with them? They’re probably super lonely and we can ask them a bunch of questions… Ah! I even made bento! He’s a giant turtle so he should like fish right? When do you think the last time he ate was?”
Holly was already pulling out her infini storage and ruffling around in itt for some water. She was getting thirsty and if others wanted some well.. She’d offer some to them too!
”What should we call them? Does Ebonwumon have a name or is it just their like.. Form? I know some mons don’t have names and prefer that but… Yanno. Sovereign. So He’s probably got some super fancy old and cool name!”

Toki smiled at the arrival of Kenny and Skadi, pleased to see more familiar faces join in. "Kenny, Skadi! Good to see you two in good health." He said with a nod. The applicants all seemed reasonable and kindhearted, which he figured would be a definite boon in negotiating with Ebonwumon. He listened as Kenny and Skadi introduced themselves and started asking questions about how they should prepare.
The next to show up was Kitt, someone he was unacquainted with. He smiled and bowed his head politely towards him "Glad to be working with you, Kitt. I'm Toki Akiyama." He said. Kitt seemed very polite, though very nervous "I can see why this whole thing might be a bit daunting, but that makes the fact that you signed up all the more admirable. We'll get through this, alright?" He said in an attempt to help ease the Digimon's worries.
Holly was straight to more questions after their little reunion. Always dutiful and always curious, it was definitely one of Holly's most endearing traits. They would have time for more catching up after all was said and done. This was a matter of utmost importance, after all.
Seems like everyone was on the same page and asking the important questions, but it looked like there wasn't much information to go on other than some requests Ebonwumon asked of Doku. Vines that can block digital signatures and make navigation difficult? That could lead to some problems depending on what happens further down the line "If I may..." Toki interjected "I've had contact with Ebonwumon before. Perhaps seeing someone he aided be in good health would ease whatever worries him, if only a little bit? With that I request that I take point in the group. If any of you have other suggestions, though, please feel free to correct me. I'd had to feel like I'm taking charge without everyone's agreement."
The fact that the Sovereign seemed distrustful of Luminas and its agents was a cause for concern, but he wouldn't outwardly state something like that, worried that it would compromise their overall goal. He would keep this in mind, however, and definitely not mention Seraphimon or Luminas' involvement in today's outing. For now he would wait and see what their plan was, and follow along accordingly if nothing else was to be said.

Wait, did Holly actually quietly quit KIZNA? Neither Kenny nor Skadi knew that before, not that they met her before then. Best not to push for reasons why she hung up her D-Nexus for greener pastures, and give a friendly wave back to her. Likewise with Toki, another good person, as the two could easily attest to; if their experiences with him told them anything.
Then came a smaller, hooded, nervous looking figure specifically approaching the duo, and quickly, they caught wind, turning to face the figure in question, just as they, or rather, he, took off the hood, politely addressing the two, much to their amusement. Kenny leaned down to get back onto the Spadamon's level, while Skadi stood next to her tamer, "Not a problem, man." He chuckled reassuringly to him, "And don't worry about being too formal with us. If you need any help or reassurance, just don't be afraid to ask us, OK?" He lightly ruffled the Spadamon's hair while Skadi nodded at him with a grin...
...right before throwing herself at him with a big hug, "And if anything goes wrong, we'll be there to help you out, no matter what!"
With introductions now out of the way, the duo would pull away and shift their focus once more, and listen intently, to the briefing that both Seraphimon and his Alraumon companion, Doku, would give, including how they managed to filter out Ebonwumon's signals with a special ivy, and why they needed the applicants to approach the giant turtle deity when they couldn't do so. This did make Kenny think a bit; why would a physical God just leave themselves out in the open? Where anyone could attack them so easily if they weren't careful?
At least they could understand why Luminas-born residents like Seraphimon wouldn't be good for this mission.
Quickly, Kenny and Skadi turned over the moment Toki interjected, offering to take the lead. And a small smile turned up on the tamer's face, "Yeah, actually, that's not a bad idea at all, Toki. Maybe Ebonwumon has some serious unfinished business that he needs to take care of before he voluntarily goes back into hiding. Perhaps we could offer to take care of them for him, under the condition that once we're done, he goes back into hiding because he has nothing to worry about anymore."
Needless to say, if there was nothing else to deal with, they would follow along with the rest of the group as needed. Still, an odd feeling of fear threatened to rear it's ugly head. This was still them dealing with a God and their powers. They needed to play along and play it safe, lest they overstep over the line and get themselves into trouble.

Kitt gave a slight nod to Kenny’s advice before the human started to ruffle his hair. Skadi, in typical Ophelia fashion, threw herself at Kitt with a hug. He didn’t like showing affection publicly, since he didn’t want others to judge him, but with this situation, he needed it. It was a comforting feeling really; it put most of his worries at ease. He quietly purred in response, not wanting everyone else to hear it other than Kenny and Skadi. “Thank you.”
Though he was still gonna be formal to them—everyone for that matter. It’s in his nature after all
Speaking of Ophelia, the Meicrackmon that was with them seems to know her, surprising Kitt. “Ohh uhh… she’s my big sister.” He responded. “I-I mean technically weren’t not related, but her and her siblings look after me so much that we see each other as family.” He wondered if he worded it right. It was kind of confusing considering he and Ophelia do look like they could be related...except that two were polar opposite of each other, but in a physical sense and a personality sense.
With the human, he introduced himself as Toki Akiyama, admiring Kitt’s courage for even signing up for the mission. That alone was enough to make Kitt turn red, and nervously bow his head in gesture. “M-much oblige, Toki-san.” It was weird, meeting a human with the same mannerisms as him. So far he’s only met about three: Kaya, Carlos, and Kenny, and all three’s first reaction to him was to ruffle his head and give him treats, so it was a bit odd to say the least.
With the introductions done, the Spadamon would listen closely to Seraphimon and the Alraumon handler, Doku’s mission briefing. It looks like they too, were in the dark on how to proceed. Apparently the reason why he couldn’t sense anything in the woods was due to special vines that blocked digital signatures, making traveling in the woods difficult. This worried Kitt.
In addition, despite being a resident of Luminas, living at the floating island fortress of ICY Fate, he wasn’t born in Luminas. He is a Nature Spirits Digimon; not a Angel Digimon, so there was no need for concern.
“But...that would mean you’re coming with us, right Doku-sama?” He asked, raising his hand in politeness. “Seeing as though you made the vines to make sure no bad Digimon are out there, that would mean you’re gonna accompany us to make sure we don’t get lost in there, right?”
He turned his attention to Toki, who had experience with Ebonwumon in a previous encounter and offered to take the lead. Contrary to Kenny, Kitt only gave Toki a spectacle look. On one hand, despite knowing the ins and outs about what they’re about to deal with, Toki was still a human. If he had a partner Digimon, like Skadi is to Kenny, he wouldn’t bat an eye. He didn’t want him to get hurt. But on the other, he encountered the Sovereign before without so much as a scratch. But still, he had to say something.
“Umm...if I could interject, Toki-San,” he raised his hand again, “but what Ebowumon is in a bad mood and starts to lash out at us in the crossfire? I-I mean no disrespect, but if danger were to p-present itself, will you need any sort of protection to ensure your safety?”
This was the first time in a while that Kitt’s talked this much. Perhaps joining KIZNA boosted his confidence up a little bit.

Sheesh... one of 'em was way too pepped up, and another looked like he was going to collapse out of embarrassment in the next few seconds! To this rag-tag group, Oak couldn't help but give a sigh, first addressing Holly's more casual question about his seeds.
"Er, no, trade secret. Its bad if what I do got out into the wrong hands." That aside, he would start answering the questions in general, first to Holly, then to Kitt:
"What should we call them? Does Ebonwumon have a name or is it just their like.. Form? "Ebonwumon should be fine. If he did have a name, it'd be lost to time now."
“But...that would mean you’re coming with us, right Doku-sama?” "Hm? I'd hope so - you lot would just get lost without me."
The aged plant gave a sigh, attention turning to Toki's point, Kenny's agreement, and Kitt's concerns. "What, y'all are capable of mega at least, right? Even if he did lash out, so long as no-one here's actually here to hurt him, I can't imagine he'd chase anyone too far out of the den."
Leaving Kitt with at least that much, Doku would then give a nod to Toki. "Fine, you'll be up next to me, then. Just try not to get your ankles caught up in the vines, and... hm. Maybe take a form he'd actually be familiar with?" The plant simply guessed that Toki didn't address the Sovereign in his human form.
With that out of the way, he'd give a wave to the Seraphimon, the angel giving a nod back as Doku turned towards the woods. "Alright, stay close enough, then." The Aruraumon passed his hand over the side of a large tree, the vines draping from its branches parting to lead the way into that wilder part of the woods. "I ain't responsible if any of you get stuck out here." Doku's concerns were well placed with that! Though the plant seemed to be comfortable enough in his own environment, and the path seemed to be opening itself up in front of the group, it would constantly feel like the walls were closing in on all sides. Foliage would crowd around the shoulders of the taller Digimon and the humans here, while the smaller ones would either have to ride up on shoulders or deal with a constantly tricky underbrush. Burrs hung on fur and cloth alike, and throughout, likely only Doku would get through the path without at least one bump or bruise along the way.
Efficient barrier, wasn't it?
But, after what seemed like an eternity - and at least a good twenty minutes later - the group would come across what looked like a solid wall of trees and ivy, as if the forest became even more impossibly dense a moment later. Doku gave a nod, and pressed both of his hands against the 'wall'. The vines would twist, leaving an opening large enough for everyone to stumble through... and the moment they would, it would seem like another world entirely.
A fresh pond, with a crystal-clear spring leading right into it. Warm, loamy soil, from which beautiful flowers from an age gone by grew like weeds... and through the canopy, a healthy amount of sun pierced through, a dance of light and shadow giving this place almost a mystic feel. And just across the clearing, they would see him.
Ebonwumon.
Without the vines to detract from it, its presence in data was truly massive, likely outstripping what most in the group had witnessed before. And yet, the beast itself seemed to exude no threatening aura, one of its heads calmly grazing at the side of the clearing, while the other perked its head. Soon, the Turtle's attention would be drawn to its visitors.
"Ah. So good to see you again, Doku."
Its attention was then drawn to the rest of them... hm. Visitors? The other head began to speak:
"Hmph. You think they'd learn from the first time."
"Come, now. We haven't even heard their words, yet."
"... Oh boy..." Speaking under his breath, the plant turned to Toki. "I'll leave it to you lot, then."

Holly rubbed at her chin and let out a small huff. She could see why that would be a bad idea for the wrong people. A few ear flicks and mumbled considerations; she knew the sort that would likely use it to hide their own signals on the move or not. She’d snort a bit at the answer that Doku gave her.
”...He’s literally awake, why not just… Ask him?”
Holly looked a bit baffled but let the plant continue with answers and information for the others. Taking in everything and leaning on one of jade’s orbs as it hovered by her. She’d tilt her head slightly and holly awkwardly scratched at her neck. She’d mumble but if one was to pay close enough attention...
”...Two different super megas actually but…”
”That’s hardly the point holly.”
If jade could roll her eyes they would have but… Holly deigned to keep behind Toki in this line up. Seeing that they were going to start getting into the woods and temple proper holly stretched her body. Groaned as she felt some pops and then padded after that Aruraumon…
Holly would occasionally flick off burs, hunch herself over or shift as she needed to as they went along. This barrier would likely dissuade those of lesser stuff but… She felt that truly and honestly if someone wanted in they would get in. As thick as the vines are… there were fires, swords and the like that could cut a great swath through them.
Once they were out of the vines and into that new world? Holly’s jaw dropped a little bit. That fresh crystal clear spring… the feel of that warm and loamy soil. The flowers growing like weeds of sorts she had never seen. She’d urge the orb to record them if allowed… There was sun and the dancing of the shadows with the light made this place feel… So strange to her.
However.
It took a few moments for her sensitivity to signals to kick in proper and that massive signal earned the meicrackmon a small groan. One of her nostrils had a small bead of blood running out of it and the meicrackmon quickly wiped that away.
”aw fiddlesticks that’s… jeez! Nothing like the one in the dark area...”
Holly leaned this way and that as the turtle seemed to notice them; her ears perked and well there was no threatening aura. The attention of the turtle was mostly on Doku at first but… Then the other head spoke. Multiple personalities in a single mon? Or at least two heads with vastly different views? The meicrackmon bristle and she’d shift, looking the sovereign over and flicked her ears.
”...Hi Mr Sovereign sir!”
She was practically shaking from the amount of questions rolling in her head, bouncing lightly on her feet and her eyes were sparkling with curiosity. This way and that seemed to give way to giddiness and she’d hop up and down after a moment like an excited child seeing something truly amazing for the first time.
”Gosh where to even start? Uhm. Heck. Do I ask something serious or do I ask something curious? Nnnn... ”
Holly would have to take a moment to step to one side, biting on one of her fingers to help calm herself. Nothing too harsh but more to stop her from mumbling up a storm as her eyes took in everything about this digimon in front of her. But even though she tried her best there was a fountain of questions she couldn’t help but mumble out around that finger.
”...Do your heads cycle which one breathes in and out? Is there a multiple personality disorder strong enough to make a physical appearance in certain digimon? How is your signal so strong? What are you doing here? Where are these flowers from? Are there more than these? What sort of plants can you control? You are connected to plants right? How old are you? What's your relationship with the other sovereigns? Have you ever dealt with a giant fire bird before? I ran into him in the dark area with another group and he was super unfriendly-”
Holly had to stop herself to take a breath and jade would give her a soft bunt against her side to help her slow down. She was outrageously excited. But there were practically millions of questions and things she wanted to say. How many people ever got this chance?

Soon the group would be on their way due to introductions being finished. No one else seemed to be arriving, so this was who he would be working with? Excellent, they all seemed very kind and capable sorts. Kitt's behavior was endearing. It reminded him a lot of himself during his early adventures. At Kitt's worries, he grinned slightly "Ah, don't you worry. Looks can be deceiving, you know? You'll see soon!"
The time for him to show Kitt what he meant came sooner than he thought as Doku suggested he take a form that Ebonwumon would recognize. Everyone also seemed on board with him taking the lead alongside Doku "Hm? Right, that would probably be a good idea. Plus it'll leave me prepared in the event something happens." He said as he pulled out his digivice. A radiant light enveloped his free hand as he swiped it across the scanner of the device, only letting out a focused exhale as his form began to change in the light.
The light of the data began to disperse as a tall, rabbit-like Digimon very similar to the Cherubimon line appeared, though this one seemed garbed in Eastern robes and was accompanied by a series of orbs that floated around his body "ZenCherubimon."
Once he had changed, he stayed close to Doku, calmly floating alongside him. With swift, fluid motions, he seemed to duck and weave around the vines with little effort. The orbs around him gently pushed tighter clusters out of the way to make way for him and the others if they needed it.
As they arrived at their destination, Toki's closed eyes opened very slightly in his awe. "Such a beautiful place. Perhaps someday I can make the temple as peaceful a place as this." He mused to himself before they group made their way through. He looked at the pond, then around at the flowers growing in the fertile soil. Ebonwumon has certainly made a nice place to call home. Such was his influence over the land.
Toki bowed politely to Ebonwumon as it spoke "It is good to see you in good health, Ebonwumon. Thank you again for what you did to save the forest from Megidramon's rampage. If you do not remember me, I am Toki Akiyama, the spirit wielder that called for your help. I hope we can talk in peace and offer each other assistance." He said, calm smile present as usual.
He then listened to Holly's endless stream of questions and let out a soft laugh. Hopefully he didn't mind such friendly conversation. Toki certainly didn't. A researcher's mind is never fully satisfied when there are things to learn.

Kitt’s concerns to Doku about Ebonwumon was met with something that only increased his underlying insecurity even more. To Doku, it was just an off-hand comment, but to Kitt, he took that to heart. He didn’t respond to the Aruraumon, only lowering his head. He knew it; he was the weakest link of the whole team. And here he thought learning how to evolve into Leomon was a great accomplishment on its own, only for it to be thrown out the window. It’s like every time he felt even remotely better about himself, something was always there to tell him no
To hide his aggravation, he decided to shove it into the back of his head. Being a big Digimon meant taking things you don’t like and smiling at it in response, right?
Kitt tilted his head in confusion to Toki’s response. ‘Looks can be deceiving’ he says? Come to think of it, he did sense something funny about him, something that didn’t make the human well...seemed entirely human. Almost as if he were something of a Digimon himself.
His question would be answered sooner than later as within a moment, a vibrant light started to form around the human, enveloping him in the process. The light began to disperse, and in the human’s place was a blue Cherubimon adorn in robes with orbs floating around him. Kitt took a step back, shocked.
“There are humans out there that can turn into Digimon?” Kitt questioned. “But that’s not...but how can that be?“ Just what exactly was Toki?
Putting on his hood once more, Kitt followed the group, not wanting to stay close to everyone and wanting to be left to mull over Doku’s comment in his mind. Through the thick foliage, he used his hands to clear his away. It would be easier to use Blue Queen to clear a path more effectively, but seeing as though all of this vegetation was to conceal Ebonwumon, he didn’t want to disturb things.
Arriving at their destination, Kitt eyes lightening up as the depressing state he was in was lifted. Everything was so beautiful, it was nothing like anything in the Empearyan Skies.
Reaching into the inside of his coat pocket, Kitt took out his D-Nexus, scanning the soil, the flowers, and anything he’d never seen before. It would be useful for KIZNA’s records to identify and classify all of these unknown plant life.
But then, he felt a massive digital signature near them, so massive that it practically made the Spadamon froze. It was them: Ebonwumon. Despite the huge spike, Kitt felt no threatening aura coming from them. Perhaps they were good after all.
Despite that, Toki and Holly talking to them with calmenly, Kitt couldn’t think of anything to say to them. Being in the presence of a Sovereign was too much for him that it practically took any train of thought out of him. Instead, he opted to stay close to Skadi, wanting to hold the sheep Digimon for comfort.

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Mar 8, 2020 11:43:14 GMT
It was true that, yes, Kenny and Skadi could hold their own, at the very least, and Toki wasn't exactly well known without a reason, considering his crazy good reputation in the first place; Holly wasn't exactly bothered, at the very least, but Kitt? Well, it was a little hard not to notice a feeling of worthlessness coming from the poor kid himself. And if Skadi's subtle, easy-to-overlook ear twitch told anyone anything, she had caught on pretty quickly.
Standing near Kitt and with him a small, encouraging smile, Skadi proceeded to give him a soft and affectionate, and equally reassuring, nuzzle on the cheek. With Doku currently talking to Toki and throwing in a suggestion, Kenny's focus came towards that little bit, feeling a warm, bittersweet, fuzzy feeling in his stomach; having gone through plenty of hell himself, dealing with several unsympathetic adults who were all too happy to enjoy watching him wallow in his own misery, it did feel good that Skadi wanted to break that cycle of hatred.
All the more reason why he was asking: where was she when he was a kid, especially in his lowest moments?
Speaking of Kitt, he had perfectly fair reasons to worry about Toki, considering his lack of apparent partner Digimon. However, before Kenny could even say anything, the Spirit User had pulled out his D-Tector, forcing Kenny and Skadi to cover their eyes from the bright light until it died down. And Kitt's shock was completely understandable. After all, Kenny and Skadi were on the same boat.
Kenny just gave a small glance down to Kitt, and rubbed the back of his neck, "Yeah, I guess I should tell you now that cat's out of the bag... Toki's a Spirit User. He can use these fancy spirits to transform into a powerful Digimon himself. It's... well, I don't blame you for being a little confused at first glance." He chucked weakly, "That caught me off guard originally, too."
With all that settled, the two would follow Doku into what looked like to be Ebonwumon's temporary domain, along with the rest...
Skadi didn't last long inside the foliage.
Being quite the woolly Digimon herself, the Valaismon lagged behind quite a bit as the bramble tangled inside her wool, stumbling and slowing her down, often forcing herself to stop just to tear out the bramble, only for it to take some of the wool with it as it broke away. Needless to say, Kenny quickly put her inside the D-Nexus after only a few long, agonising minutes, just to spare her from any more pain, both physical and mental.
Not that Kenny was having a fun time of it himself. Even when Toki's magic orbs helped to clear out the tighter squeeze clusters, the more general clusters kept scratching and catching onto his shirt, his hair, hell, his entire body. Was this what hell felt like? And why did it feel like it was taking forever to get through? He kept tripping up quite a few times, only stopping himself from falling by grabbing onto the nearest burr.
Not fun.
By the time they got out of the bramble bush from hell, Kenny was quite a right state, as seen as when he himself stumbled out near the end; his hair was mattered, his clothes had hit a few snags, and a few bruises covered his body. but a huge sigh of relief crossed his body, as he lightly rubbed his head. "Next time, I'm gonna be digging my way underneath this place with a spoon." He muttered to no-one in particular.
But as he blinked a few times to clear his blurry vision from his eyes, Skadi re-emerging from the D-Nexus all the while, their eyes caught sight of the beautiful domain surrounding them. "Sweet Jesus Christ," Kenny whistled in amazement, "This place ain't too shabby, if I do say so myself."
"You're telling me." Skadi admitted, completely lost in awe, as Kenny pulled out his D-Nexus to scan several of the features of the area like Kitt before him, "I'd happily camp out here given the chance." Then, her sight just so happened to something... unique. A light tug of Kenny's (slightly torn) pant leg was more than enough to turn towards the sight of the massive Ebonwumon himself.
...I'm getting some real crazy Discworld turtle vibes here, man. Kenny thought as he stared down the towering Ebonwumon along with Skadi. Was this one of the actual sovereign of legend himself, in the flesh? Who could blame Kitt for being nervous, anyways? Noticing his nerves spiking up once more, Skadi gave a warm smile as her sausage finger hands wrapped around one of Kitt's free paws, giving it a tight squeeze to try and calm his nerves.
Meanwhile, after Toki and Holly said their pieces, Kenny took a deep breath before addressing Ebonwumon, looking at him directly, "Hi, I'm Kenny, that Valaismon down there is my partner, Skadi, and that Spadamon there's name is Kitt. We come as part of KIZNA. Would you like us to help you out today in any way possible, if that's OK with you?"
...yeah. Maybe not the best question to ask, or the best introduction, but Kenny was all too willing to put his best foot forward, no matter what. It was clear he was still directly looking into a God. And he knew it would be all too unwise to just up and piss him off.
