”Most of the friends that I made, or at least the ones that have stuck with me are good. Like mae or uh… uhm… well some of the folks back at kizna are probably still my friends.”
Holly rubbed at her chin and then gave her da small somewhat sheepish smile. The idea that iko wouldn’t go easy on her well… Two could most certainly play at that game. Unlike her mother or her step-mother there was a strange difference. But the wolf would learn that the hard way if they fought.
”Don’t worry da, I won’t go easy on him either.”
Holly stuck out her tongue at her da and went to go get back to work. She had some studying to do, some cleaning and some organizing of her room...
It was a lot different than the mountaintop cabin visit. The spirit there had created their own surroundings, working on their own things. And brought the two to her rather than the other coming to the lone spirit. Who seemed to be able to interact with their surroundings to an extent.
”It was always at the end of the day hardest to know that I wouldn’t be coming home. That I’d be worrying you all. But I had to make those steps and if you’re understanding then I won’t really explain.”
The spirit took a seat next to him, and gently would lean against the cat. She seemed somewhat… tingly where-ever she touched the cat. Maybe it was just a side effect of the strange spirit meeting.
”Another tyrant… in an endless stream of them it seems. Ah. I won’t talk you out of it dear, if anything I’ll just tell you to be careful. He out of all of them is much stronger than I anticipated but that doesn’t change what has to be done or what I did.”
K smiled warmly and wrapped her arm around him. She’d look thoughtful about it; what did she want to talk about? The upcoming fight? Or the kids? She’d look down at him and give a soft smile to the mikemon.
”The kids first then we can talk about that okay? How’s Syre? Holly? Siris? I sense two distinct signals that are different than all of yours and my second iteration. Did you two have kids too?”

There were certain things that weren't the same, of course. This was a spirit, a fragment of K's will that had come from her memorial. And though the Renamon leaned against him, and Mikemon wrapped an arm tenderly around her back, the true feeling of touch eluded them. All that was there was a warmth, a 'feeling' of her presence.
"Heh... as far as that 'tyrant' is, he's a little bit above 'cut of the mill'. He's going to be a challenge - I just have to make sure that I'm ready to face him." He'd give a sigh, 'leaning' up against the fox's side as that arm wrapped around his back. Of course, K felt a pluck at her heartstrings, wanting to hear about their kids.
The cat gave a smile.
"They're doing... better, I think. Syre's taken it on herself to be much more involved with the Knights. I thought she was going to bury herself in work, at first - but thanks to Amelie and a few good friends, she's... more-or-less managed to get herself on the right course. Holly, she's doing better too. I was a bit worried about how she would handle it all, but she's in class, and she's looking forward. If anything, she might stand to slow down a bit. Siris..."
The cat bit his lip at that. "No idea, that kid." He shook his head. "He's spent the better part of his life alone, and I think that's just about how he prefers it. And... um..."
Right. The eggs. The cat gave a small blush, and a slow nod. "Y-yeah. Your, um, reincarnation calls herself Silence, and... those two eggs would be 'ours'."

Even this small fragment of K was happy for the most part to see her husband again. She’d run her hands along his face and take in the memory of what she could. There was much she didn’t remember past a point, things that were fuzzy and just… this odd buzzing in the back of her head that she couldn’t explain. The connection the two of them shared made this possible. Maybe none, not even her children would ever get this. Or perhaps they too held the key to this place. It was uncertain.
”I was aware of that when I challenged him to a fight. Tyrant or no. Power or no. He needed to know that others would stand up to him and that his plans wouldn’t go smoothly.”
She’d sigh a bit and was glad to ‘feel’ the other for even this short of a time. Hearing about their kids warmed her heart and hearing about amelie or the good friends… She was glad to hear they were okay. She’d squeeze the mikemon and then would frown lightly at hearing that siris was a loner.
”He… always seemed to focus on me. I worry when he learns about me what he will do in the end. Much like how holly idolizes you he did the same with me.”
She’d perk up and find herself smiling warmly, giving the mikemon a rub between those ears in the strangest sort of way. As the touch was not truly there, but the warmth and motion were.
”Good. Good! So she survived! Silence was the persona within my core, outspoken, loud, aggressive. Happy. Pure and sweet girl; she might be brash or arrogant but underneath it all she just wants to help you all. The moment she was born till this very one I have been able to sense her with outstanding clarity to the point of where I could tell you what she’s doing every moment of the day. Much like yourself. Unfortunately my connection to my children is not as strong as I hoped. Or if it was it was after the fact of the development of my spirit here.”
She’d lean to one side and muse for a moment before chuckling lightly.
”Make sure to tell them all that I’m happy to know they’re doing well. If they need to talk to me or ask advice or just rest… this place is here for them. And as for the two unborn children...”
She’d rub at her neck and look to the mikemon; there was a pause and she seemed a touch concerned.
”I sense great potential in the both of them, untapped. Unbridled potential. Which makes me worried for the next child that may occur. Our data, as it were is slowly reaching the point where I believe if we come together again that the next child may be even more powerful and therefore in even more danger than the rest. If they are to come… and if these ones are anything like how I believe them to be? Please be careful. Protect them but do not stifle them like we did with the other children unintentionally. Our mistakes shouldn't force them to live their lives in such a way. When you return to them... please help them.”

Indeed... Siris was a bit of an enigma. But hearing K speak about Silence, well, the doctor found himself giving a bit of hesitation before a nod. "Well... not quite. It's definitely her personality, but she's definitely her own, new Digimon - with her own drive, her own quirks, her own ideas. And really, she's terrified of living in the shadow of such a great, illustrious hero."
The doctor gave a small sigh at that. "If I mess this up, I fear she's going to jump right into it. But... yes. I'll tell the kids that this place is there for them - and I hope you're ready to talk to a crying Meicoomon who thinks she can put your spirit in a crystal ball or something."
He couldn't even laugh at that one - both K and Mikemon knew just how much Holly could get into her 'mad scientist' moments. As for the eggs... Mikemon had to agree with that. "Just an hour or so ago, I told Holly that I wished that we'd gotten her into more social programs or the like. Syre and Holly, and Siris, they're all good kids, but... well, socially 'backward' in one way or another. They've each got their own problems expressing themselves. Though... I don't think either of us were truly ready to be parents."
He did manage a chuckle at that, leaning right up against the fox's shoulder. "Oh, its been hard. There hasn't been a day that's gone by that I haven't missed you, love..."

”I don’t think I’d ever refer to myself that way. I never thought myself a hero. Always just a mon that was doing the right thing. If she’s doing what she believes is right and is living to her fullest… there’s no shadow to live in. Sure people will compare us as she was born so close to my death but… that’s just how things are. I imagine that’d be the case if your next iteration ended up being a doctor so quickly too no?”
She’d let out a soft laugh and lean on the mikemon; there was a strange happiness to talk to the mikemon. She’d tilt her head slightly and flick her ears forward before raising her brows at hearing what holly would try to do. She’d look up at the tree and place a hand against the tree.
”Ah. If only it was that easy. It’s the location, the connection we have and the tree. Remove one and the others won’t work so much. Tell her that and that it’s not an invitation to find a way to do so. My time came and that was that. She’s a wonderful young mon and shouldn’t dwell on her mother.”
K tilted her head as the other suggested that they should have done this or should have done that. She’d chuckle lightly and sigh; no one was truly ready to ever be a parent. But perhaps they should have waited between each child…
”Then my suggestion is take your time with these next two. No one is truly ready to be a parent and they’ll still listen to their father no? They’re not so far out of your reach that you can’t help them.”
She’d smile sadly and run her hand along his cheek; she’d lean down to press her head against his and there was that strangeness of close but yet so far…
”It has been lonely for the both of us and she is waiting for you by the bonfire. I’m merely a small fragment of her spirit that has managed to survive. More of a watcher than anything. I wish I could give you the peace of mind that you so desire and the love that you feel that I could return. But… all I can do is echo the little bits I know. Someday you’ll join her at that bonfire. Perhaps even with silence by your side and the three of you can rest. Or even if it’s just the two of you.
Maybe even someday I’ll join you all. But my time isn’t here yet either. I still have things I need to attend to...”
The renamon cast her eyes up to the tree and smiled sadly. She wasn’t K truly; if that was the case there would have been some strange implications… she was just a tiny shard. A tiny shard that was watching… but watching for what? Waiting for what?

"Perception makes fools of us all, K. It is a set of blinders that Silence has put on herself, but that doesn't make it any less real to her. Hopefully, she finds time to... well, be Silence."
The doctor shook his head at that... and as the fragment explained how she was here, the doctor would return a nod to the Renamon. "I'll make sure - and I'm sure if you end up telling her, she'll listen. But after all of this is over, I do want to have both of them come here to see you. Both so that you can pass on your words to them... and so that you can see what wonderful Digimon they ended up as."
He smiled at that, and chuckled as K mentioned that he should take his time with the next two. "Honestly, I've been thinking about it. I've spent so much time as a doctor, and you spent so much time as a fighter, that we couldn't make all of the time we wanted for the kids. But, well - Holly's decided to join the Knights. And I think I'm going to follow right along with her." 'Given the chance', of course, but the cat decided to keep those depressing words inside. "All as a family - not saying the new ones will have to follow us, but I'll be able to make a lot more time for them."
With that, he'd lean against the fox, ear flicking as the spirit spoke. So... this wasn't K. Well, it was, but it was just a fragment, a piece, a ghost left by the tree. And the real K was waiting back along the bonfire. Waiting for him. To that, he'd give a sigh, and lean against the spirit, resting the side of his head against the Renamon's mane.
"I know. I know. Just... hold onto me a little longer, alright?"

”Mm. This is true. Hopefully she does, I believe she will once she starts seeing the world.”
The renamon shifted slightly and flicked her ears; so he would send the both of them to her? Would he send silence to her as well? The renamon mulled this over for a moment and then gave a small chuckle.
”It would warm my soul to see them again. Rather than having to see them through their signals.”
The renamon blinked lightly and rested her head upon the mikemon's. She could barely feel him… but every little bit mattered to her. He was thinking… of joining her knights? The renamon b linked a few more times and started chuckling before eventually breaking out into laughter.
”Oh my lord! I would have been so furious before but I’m honestly so happy that you’re doing something like that. The world could hardly have a better protector than the family we’ve raised together.”
She’d reach out and rub the top of the mikemon’s head. The new ones would likely follow in suit, seeing the knights as some sort of family calling. The renamon’s face split into a smile and then… well. The somber bit of all of this was something she couldn’t help but sigh at.
”They might not follow you, but seeing that everyone they know is part of it and that every family member was or is part of it… they might be quick to jump on that bandwagon. And of course darling. I’ll be here as long as you need me.”
The real K would have done the same, the spirit knew that much and with that sad knowing smile she’d rest against the mikemon. And maybe... someday she'd join the two of them at the bonfire. But if she didn't? That was fine. She didn't mind watching. It was nice and quiet...

"Heh... if our kids are going to get neck deep in that stuff, then I can't think of a better place to be a doctor."
Mikemon joined in the spirit's laughter, at least for the moment... but there was only so much laughter that the doctor could bring up. He knew that this 'fragment' wasn't the full K, the 'real' K - just a shadow that was left behind, either left on purpose to see them off one last time, or as an accident to watch over this blessed tree. Regardless, he felt comfortable here. Fondly resting in the phantom's arms, he nuzzled his head right up against the fox's mane, once more bringing himself to relax.
... It would be several, long minutes before the doctor would speak up again.
"I'm scared."
The cat's words were said with certainty, a certain softness radiating from his core. "I'm scared that this might be the last time I get to see the family. I'm furious because the battle with Wrath damaged your body beyond repair. I'm frustrated, that I didn't get to help you sooner. And I'm confused, wondering if its okay that the feelings I share for you are able to be so easily shared with Silence... tch..."
He shook his head.
"Despite all that. Despite everything."
"I know I have to do this."

”Niether can I. If holly is truly going to join the knights I can’t think of a better practical way for her to learn about doctoring from you and putting her skills she’s learning from school into a place where they’ll do some good. Not just for the knights themselves but for the people too.”
K smiled warmly and ran her hands along the face of the one she called husband during life. She’d sigh softly and shake her head; grateful for the sensation of the other against her spiritual body. She relaxed and let the mon stay in that position for as long as he liked or needed to. He was relaxing and he was concentrating on the things ahead. Hearing him speak the fox’s ear flicked and there was a soft sigh.
”Then you are doing the right thing. Fear is a powerful tool. One that lay within the heart of everyone. For the fact you fear the consequences of your actions and the what if’s and maybes… You are doing the right thing.”
She’d cup his cheeks and smile almost sadly at him as he spoke about his feelings. Watching him talk and prattle on. There was another soft sigh and she’d push her forehead against his.
”If it is the last time you see the family make it a memory that you and they can never forget. My only regret was not being able to spend more time with all of you. To watch holly, syre and siris grow up. Well I suppose… Two regrets. That and not being able to spend the rest of my life with yours. Wrath will get his comeuppance. From you. From another. Even if you fall… there will be another to stand up against him. Whether it’s our family that does it… or another. Or perhaps a hero that we don’t even know.”
She’d place a finger on his lips after he spoke; saying that he knew he had to do this.
”Then do it. Stand up to everything he represents. Every sorrow. Every painful memory.”
She’d bring him into her lap for a big hug and sigh softly. The spirit was actually quite… surprisingly tangeble. But it was likely due to their relationship that it was even the case! Or the many times they were able to share data with one another.
”As for silence and your feelings regarding me to her? She is her own mon and you loved me so much that there is going to be some bleed over. That’s only natural for relationships even if it wasn’t another iteration of mine. But what you should do is realize that you do love her. Even if only a tiny bit. You wanted her and you wanted to be with her so much that not only one… but two children came into being. Two small motes of light with infinite possibilities.”
She’d lean down and put her fingers to his chin, gently sritching at it before tilting it. Meeting his eyes with hers.
”I believe in you mikemon. I know she does too. So don’t do this for me. Do it for her. You don’t need to prove your love to me, you don’t need to prove your power or your motives. If you truly believe this is what you must do. Then do it. But if you claim this sort of attachment still… Bring yourself to understand that she is where your future lay. Be happy with that. Some mons don’t find love for thousands of years remember?”
The renamon chuckled lightly and leaned back against the tree. It was pulsing with a barely controlled life. She knew that she couldn’t stay around forever but there was one last thing she wanted to share.
”In the end… You talked about me saving you. But if it wasn’t for you and your… visit. I would never have left the inn, never wondered what about the world outside. You saved me Mikemon and I thank you for it. Every day of my life I thanked you for it. I was afraid of what might have happened at first and after our being together I regret that I didn’t act sooner than that silly Valentines day event. When you make it back to her. Don't let your love for me act as a barrier to the love you have for her. No matter how small. She is yours just as much as you are hers. I promised to find you... but you found me. You found her. Make the most of it.”

There was a lot to take in, even for just this fragment of K's psyche.
She listened to him patiently. The fox held him close, looking eye to eye with the doctor as he let his heart spill out... and in those next few minutes, the Renamon gave her replies. Despite everything that had happened, despite being an entire existence apart now, K was still here for him.
And it wasn't an easy conversation, either. They shared their regrets, they shared their intents, they shared their hearts. In the end, the fox spoke of their children, of Silence, and how Mikemon had to act for them. For the world, and for those closest to him.
"..."
As the Renamon leaned back against the tree, the doctor gave a smile. His head leaned right into the spirit's, one hand resting against her cheek while the other gently stroked the back of her head. He didn't need to respond - he knew in his heart that K was right. And for the most important person he'd ever known to have confidence in him, he knew he had to make the best of it going forward.
Even if it wasn't the right choice. Even if it ultimately resulted in disaster in the end... he had to do it. Not for his own vengeance, but to make this a better world for his friends and family.
"I love you."
Those three words were held with weight and intent, a definite warmth held that he reserved for those closest to his heart. "Every day, I've missed you. You were a light to all of our kids, and an inspiration to our whole family. And so... its with a heavy heart that I have to make this next request..."
He sighed, resting his head against her mane.
"Conserve what you have left here. You know, as well as I, these fragments can't stay around forever. As much as you want to indulge me... save it so you can meet Syre and Holly in earnest. Give them the rest, if you must."

She knew that if she held back… if she didn’t say what he needed to hear that he would stay. That he would at worst regret his choices and not be able to live with himself. That was something that she felt wasn’t going to be easy… She’d sigh softly and enjoy the time that she had with mikemon. Thankful that he would make the right choices that he felt were needed. She’d turn one hand over and then slowly grip at the back of his head. It didn’t take much for her to do this. It didn’t take her much to interact with someone with such a pure connection. She’d close her eyes softly and exhale.
”I love you too mikemon and I’m truly sorry I had to leave you. I knew it wouldn’t be easy for you to move on or for the others. Holly never knew a life without me, Syre didn’t have me then did… only to lose me again. And poor siris… I hope he finds what he’s looking for in the world someday.”
She’d flick her ears forward and smiled warmly before slowly sliding her hands along his back with a sigh. He wanted her to conserve whatt she had? She’d chuckle lightly and cup his chin. Leaning down to kiss his cheek.
”Darling my spirit isn’t going anywhere. I’m not just some fragment that has no place. This area and this tree is seeped with her energy. That’s the reason I’m even here in the first place. If she didn’t spend months pumping her energy out and learning how to control it I wouldn’t be here. I’m connected to this small locale for as long as the tree lives on. But true interaction like this with anyone other than family would be extremely difficult. So there’s only a handful of people I could do this with. You. Holly. Syre. Siris… and likely silence herself. Maybe a few friends if their connection were deep enough. But… For you I’ll wait. I’ll give them as much as I can.”
The renamon slowly stood up, gently setting the mikemon down to the side and stepped to the tree. Placing her hands on it with a soft sigh. Her form shimmered and she’d close her eyes.
”Someday. Maybe. I’ll follow along with her. But until then. I’ll watch. I’ll wait. I’ll be a guide. I may not be her and I may be lacking in the ways she didn’t. But I’ll still do what I can for those that come….”
She’d turn to look down to him, a sad smile spreading across her lips.
”I’ll be watching you fight him. And if you win against him. If you truly destroy this wrath… Don’t let his cycle of hatred continue. The angels. The demons. Everything. It must stop this needless cycle of violence. The humans are mostly at peace even if their societies differ so vastly and while we are… often nothing like them. Why don’t we deserve the same? Peace. Even if it’s brittle. Even if it’s hollow to some degree. Is still something worth trying to build.”

Oh? Maybe this spirit was more durable than he first thought - though he could definitely feel the current projection's energy starting to waver. He'd give a slow nod, a warm smile across his face.
Set down, he'd look on as the Renamon would step right up to the tree, her own form flickering, threatening to fade as she would work to rebuild herself. Mikemon would follow, setting that bouquet right near the tree's trunk, giving a warm nod to the Renamon.
"... Don't worry, K. Though I can't completely rid myself of my anger for him... well. I won't be fighting out of it. He is an evil, bloodthirsty monster that needs to be stopped - and his fall will cause the rest of the Lords to either abandon him or fall into panic."
It was a step that had to be made. And with a nod, he would turn, and once more sit down in the midst of the tree, closing his eyes.
Once more, he tried to find his center...

She was very durable as spirits went. She had an actual connection to the physical plane and technically had a form that was her own. The tree that she was touching was her physical form and having mikemon sitting in it was strange. She’d smile warmly and give him a kiss on top of his head.
”Let us hope that is the case. But only time will tell. Just be careful.”
She was worried about him yes but the renamon would watch him take that seat. She’d consider saying something or doing something more. But as she could tell he was trying to find his center she’d look up into the sky…
Or they’ll find a new leader among them… maybe it’ll be you mikemon. There is such a thing as you keep what you kill.
There was sorrow in that thought and she’d shake her head. He would never return to that life and that much she knew. But they would look to him in one way or another. Either as a savior… or perhaps as an enemy to them all.
Just be safe… Please.
She’d close her eyes and let her spiritual body fade back into the tree. The gentle humming from it started up again.. In that gentle supportive song that mikemon would remember from K. It was less somber and much happier than any other he heard…
Perhaps it was because she had a purpose to watch him or perhaps she was just excited to see the kids…
