Mainframe Hills was normally a relatively quiet place. At least that was what Vemmon said. If Kazumi knew what she would end up facing this afternoon she would not have left her apartment. She walked through the hills taking in the calmness as well as the beauty before she came across a small field of multi colored flowers near a small pond.
"Vemmon, there are beautiful flowers growing here. You were right about coming here." she said enraptured by the beauty of the flowers in front of her. Vemmon, meanwhile, was in her Xros Loader but that didn't stop him from communicating with his general.
"Y-yes Kazumi, the flowers in the D-digital World tend to be very b-beautiful and diverse. H-however some digimon can be t-territorial when collecting pollen. P-please be alert and r-ready for anything." he said with his typical stutter. He was glad that she never made fun of him for it, even from the beginning when they met, accepting him for his little quirk. Not everyone he met had been so open minded and sometimes made fun of him for his speech problem.
Nodding her head at the image of Vemmon on the screen of her Xros Loader she said "Alright, I will. After all it would do no good for a inexperienced general like myself to get offed by an aggressive digimon."
It would seem that the tranquility of Mainframe Hills was not meant to last any longer as a buzzing sound was heard approaching. Kazumi was starting to become uneasy as the sound grew closer. 'Please don't be a bee, giant or otherwise. Please be a fly. I can handle flies of any size.' she thought as she started to shudder.
However, Kazumi wasn't going to get what she was hoping for as a FanBeemon flew toward the flowers and hovered over them to collect pollen.
"O-okay, Kazumi. All you h-have to do is stay calm and b-back away slowly. S-sometimes FanBeemon c-can be territorial l-like I mentioned." Vemmon whispered but it seemed his general was frozen with fear making her unreachable at the moment. "K-Kazumi snap out of it!" he whispered a little louder.
That seemed to reach her as she began backing away and muttering "Big bee. Why did it have to be a bee? Why couldn't have been almost any other kind of bug. I wouldn't feel freaked out then."
So his general was afraid of bees. This was bad if FanBeemon went aggressive and Kazumi wouldn't run. Unfortunately things seemed to go from bad to worse for the duo as FanBeemon glanced up locking eyes on Kazumi. Then it buzzed loudly charging at her in an enraged territorial state of mind. Kazumi panicked and took off running hoping she would outrun the object of her fear.
After awhile Vemmon was becoming worried as she wasn't gaining any distance away from her pursuer. The only piece of good news was that FanBeemon wasn't gaining on her either but he knew it wouldn't last forever.
"K-Kazumi, let me out. I'll d-deal with FanBeemon w-while you find cover." he said hoping his general would listen.
Kazumi looked at the Xros Loader hesitantly. She was worried Vemmon couldn't deal with her pursuer but held out her Xros Loader and said "Upload Vemmon!"
Vemmon materialized from the Xros Loader and turned to face FanBeemon causing the bee digimon to slow to a stop and lock angry eyes on the newcomer.
"Y-you will stay away from her! V-Viral Lightning!" he exclaimed as purple lightning gathered in his palms. Kazumi had taken shelter behind some rocks and watched as the lightning came from her partner's pinchers. Or were they claws. Maybe they were a bit of both. The FanBeemon proved quite agile as it dodged the lightning but just barely. Buzzing with fury the FanBeemon launched a rain of rapid fire serrated stingers, that grew back as fast as they were fired, at Vemmon.
Vemmon struggled to dodged the projectiles considering he wasn't as agile as his airborne opponent and aimed his palms at the stingers flying at him. "Y-you're not gonna get me that easily! B-Bit Storm!" Kazumi watched as a hailstorm flew forth from his palms making contact with the stingers causing them to slow before dropping to the ground like bricks.
"Wow! Vemmon is awesome!" Kazumi said as she watched Vemmon take shelter behind the fallen stingers that had impaled into the ground. Though not the best option, it was better than him being in the open as an easy target. Vemmon was in no moon to be impaled. After all no one in their right mind would want such a thing.
However, before Vemmon could mount a counter attack, Fanbeemon zipped around his cover and crashed head first into him. Vemmon was seeing spots as his head made contact with his cover. Then FanBeemon grabbed the dazed Vemmon and lifted him into the air before tossing him in the direction of Kazumi's cover.
"Vemmon!" she exclaimed wincing as her partner hit the ground his body sliding a good five feet before coming to a stop. She heard a pained groan come from Vemmon's mandible as he slowly sat up clutching his head in his palms. He hadn't heard his general call his name in his dazed state when he hit the ground and was still seeing spots.
'No it can't end like this. Not this soon.' Kazumi thought as FanBeemon closed in on Vemmon readying to strike. In his state his chance of survival was low but without him so was hers. Taking a deep breathe she did something she had never done around any other bee, she came out of hiding and stood in front of her partner as if to protect him. "Enough! Leave him alone! Can't you see he's in no shape to fight?" she exclaimed her heart thudding in her chest. Her fear of bees was making this more terrifying but she was facing her fear because she was defending a friend. FanBeemon readied its stinger ready to finish off Kazumi.
Unbeknown to FanBeemon and his general Vemmon managed to pull himself to his feet and make his way painfully behind his opponent raising his palms. "V-Viral Lightning!" the normally soft spoken digimon shouted sending purple electricity through FanBeemon's body and knocked it out. Vemmon dropped to his knees as Kazumi made her way carefully around FanBeemon's unconscious form to stand by Vemmon's side.
"Vemmon?"
"I'm f-fine just need rest in the X-Xros Loader. I-I think we should get going b-before FanBeemon wakes up."
Kazumi nodded and held up her Xros Loader watching Vemmon vanish inside it. Then she decided to take his suggestion and get out of there.
