With the arrival of nightfall the Cipher Jungle had begun to cool down a little. The air was still humid, but that was to be expected. In the very least one wouldn’t feel as if they were walking through a sauna anymore. The level of local activity within the jungle had also started to drop with the rising of the moon, but not all mons were ready to sleep just yet. Small feet silently padded through the underbrush at a comfortable jog. Black and white fur helped the blackgabumon melt into the various organic shadows cast onto the jungle floor by gently swaying trees above. Traveling parallel to a dirt road but careful to avoid straying onto it the rookie mon’s nose scrunched up at the different smells she had been following.
There were many scents to lose yourself in inside the Cipher Jungle. The smell of gunpowder however was a stark contrast to the usual earthy or fragrant aromas. There was also a burning smell on the breeze, but it was faint. Voices in the distance pulled her attention away from her thoughts, and spurred her on to quietly investigate.
She came across a small clearing in the trees beside the road; a campsite for travelers from the looks of things. It was in use currently with several wooden wagons parked on the side, and just as many tents pitched up around a small fire. Several mons and even a human were going about their business, but Raimei recognized none of them. She stayed within the treeline even though the firelight didn’t extend too far past the camp. The smell of gunpowder was lessened here, and seemed to pull in a direction away from the rest spot.
It was a curious sign. From what she could see no one from the caravan had firearms, and the crates didn’t look like weapons containers, either. Silently, she moved along the outskirts of the treeline to get a better look at things. Had one of their members gone off hunting for food, or chased something off?

Silence was grateful for the fact it was dark now. This meant that without supporting members that the troopmon wouldn't be able to attack. They didn’t have the best night vision and would stay away from the lit campfires. Knowing that their enemies were around it. She’d rub at her neck and exhale as she felt the wind trail through her fur. It was hot. It was probably going to get hotter as time passed.
One of her arms had a bandage wrapped around it and was faintly bleeding still. It’d be a few days if she let it be or even sooner if she decided to use a form with healing. But that required downtime. Downtime she didn’t have. She had to be on alert as the mons and humans here weren’t the fighting sort. She was.
The fight’s with the troopmon had been harsh, for every one she cut down it seemed like two or three took it’s place. Their rubbery bodies not able to stop her blades' dance of death. She had cut down swaths of them like a farmer did to wheat but more kept coming. It was only when she went to her higher forms past this that they started to flee. Terrified of the power she was able to display.
But she wasn’t near where the campfires were. She wasn’t near the caravan. She was out where the last fight had been. Sitting next to a mound of those rubbery bodies. Unlike natural digimon their rubbery bodies didn’t disappear into nothingness. Giving her the strange chance to inspect her enemies. Various weapons; various uses of gunpowder and metal weapons that were even stranger.
Some were guns mixed with swords. Others were flamethrowers with some kind of bladed element. One even employed a rocket launcher of some kind. She recognized none of it. But it all reeked of some terrible manufacturer.
”Tch… How many? About a dozen… maybe more.”
The shutmon turned over one of the bodies, frowning as she noted that it had a backpack of some kind. Looked to be a radio pack… One that reminded her of something holly had told her about. How the military in the human world needed this to communicate. What was it’s design doing here? Was that why there were so many in one place and so well coordinated?
She’d run her hand along the gash that had cut deep into the radio ‘pack’ and the eventual place where she had sliced through the rubber apparatus that the troopmon called an exterior. Inside of all this death and gunpowder she didn’t notice that she had company. At least not immediately. Thinking it to be one of the caravaneers she’d speak without looking up.
”No attacks tonight. Their numbers were thinned quite a bit and they don’t have any means to contact whoever they were working for…”

Curiously, the smell of gunpowder kept pulling her away from the campsite. Evidence of a fight was starting to show among the jungle foliage as well. Snapped tree trunks, blackened craters, flattened plants. Even bullet casings glittering on the forest floor in the moonlight. Here and there a body was sprawled out along her chosen path. Black suits and faceless masks clutching at military grade weapons. Troopmons. Their still forms were cut deep and clean. That explained the smell of gunpowder, but now Raimei was left wondering who had killed them.
After following the path of chaos throughout the jungle she found her answer. A mon she was unfamiliar with was looking over more bodies on the ground. There was an impressive tally of fodder staring lifelessly up at the jungle canopy. Believing the white wolf to be a member of the caravan Raimei slowly stepped forward to see if she needed any assistance. The blackgabumon had thought she was being silent with her footsteps, but even then she was noticed as the stranger spoke up without looking at her. Raimei stared curiously at the other digimon weighing her decisions for a few moments before replying.
“I’ve never known a troopmon to disobey orders,” she said in a flat, skeptical tone. “Although, if they can’t receive any you’ve certainly bought you and your friends some breathing room. That is, if you haven’t killed them all already.”
She kept her gaze locked on the stranger just in case, keen eyes studying her minutely from her posture to even her weapon. Her gaze lingered on the bandaged arm for a second, but she said nothing of it for now. It didn’t look like a life threatening wound, especially compared to the cuts that lined the bodies of the troopmons.
“Troopmons always come back though, don’t they?”

The shutmon was surprised when she heard a voice she didn’t recognize. The wolf turned her head and slowly stood; she went from that hunched over and inspecting pose to one that showed off her impressive height. Unlike most of her kind her sheathed blades were locked away in such a manner where their massive blades wouldn’t be a detriment to her mobility. One strange looking longsword sat on her hip and the cloak that had curled around her so when she was inspecting this locale billowed ever so slightly as the wind tugged on her form some more. She’d cock her head and flick her ears forward…
”They don’t. They follow it to the letter. Usually it’s the one that is their creator that has their yolk.”
The shutmon frowned a bit and ran her finger along her chin thoughtfully. Had she killed anyone out of this group that was stronger or perhaps someone that would even give her trouble? The answer there was no. She’d shake her head and gesture to the mound of rubbery bodies.
”All of these were small fries. They weren’t intelligent when they fought. Just threw bodies at the problem. Only a few had ranged weapons like the one with the radio. But they were garbage in comparison to the others that had attacked the prior night.”
The shutmon returned the gaze that she received from the gabumon; shifting slightly to rest her hand on the pommel of her sword. It wasn’t threatening; if anything it showed how relaxed she was even in the danger here. She was in her element. In the midst of a finished battlefield and picking up the pieces...
”They do. And these ones are more tenacious. About six or so got away from me. So it’s likely they’ll go get help.”
Silence stared down at the gabumon; mulling over what to say. What to ask. What to even do. In this situation what was the best move? She’d chuckle to herself and offer a hand. It was that of a trustful being and one that knew that she wasn’t in danger.
”Name’s Silence. Knight of the Rose. Who do I have the pleasure to talkin to?”

Somehow, Raimei found herself unsurprised that the troopmons had staged multiple attacks on these people. She briefly remembered a time when her dojo had been tasked with removing such vermin from the shadows of Luminas. It had been a drawn out ordeal until they had found out who was in charge. This stranger did well to protect the others so far.
Her eyes naturally gravitated to the hand that came to rest on the white wolf’s sword. It lingered there for a moment before the blackgabumon reestablished eye contact. If the swordswoman had considered her a threat she would have already attacked, figured the rookie.
“Six escaped, hm? That’s six more than I would have hoped for myself.” Raimei’s gaze shifted to look past the stranger and into the foliage behind her. She considered going after the last of the troopmons, but was stopped when a hand had been offered to her. Looking towards it the smaller digimon took a moment before reaching out and shaking hands.
“Knight of the Rose? I believe I’ve heard about some of your group’s past achievements. You all do good work, Silence. The honor and pleasure is mine, to be sure. I’m Raimei; just Raimei.” The blackgabumon seemed a little more at ease now that she knew who was dealing with. Stepping past Silence to one of the troopmon’s guns on the ground she picked the weapon up for inspection. The practiced ease that she displayed in ejecting the firearm’s magazine and making sure the chamber was clear did little to bolster her claim as a nobody.
“Your friends are fine, if you’re still wondering. You did a very thorough job. How long have they been hunting you people?” Talking as she worked Raimei collected any leftover bullets she found, and put them in a small pouch. There weren’t very many left apparently; Silence must have had them in a panic. “...and if you don’t mind me asking, why have they been following you?”

Silence hummed a bit and glanced back at the troopmon mound; she didn’t know what exactly to make of all of them. They had thrown themselves at her with reckless abandon until… Well until she took the form of cresgarurumon. She had cut a bloody swath through them and the six were the only ones that were out of her immediate range. Like their entire purpose was to observe. If the gabumon looked the swords that silence employed didn’t match up to the wounds. They were too big, too strong. In fact one of the rubbery bodies had been bisected so effectively and so harshly that barely more than it’s arms and legs were present.
”They were on the edge of the combat. And my job isn’t chasing after stragglers. It’s to protect the caraveeners. I can’t do that if I’m not there. Given the size of the attacks this is just one of many groups harassing us.”
Silence sighed a little bit and shook her head; she’d give the other a grin and firmly shake their hand. There was a lot of strength in that grip and she’d chuckle softly. So they had heard of her group? Well really she was just a recent addition… so those past achievements the shutmon gently waved off.
”Well unfortunately I wasn’t there for a lot of those achievements. This is technically one of my first jobs under them. Or patrols I guess? In any case likewise Raimei.”
Silence flicked an ear and stared down at the gabumon as they went over the weapons that were not digitized. The fire-arms had their own data integrity to consider and most of them were in fairly pristine condition save for one or two that were flickering from the damage it had received. The familiarity wasn’t lost on her and she’d rub at her chin.
”Well we’ve been out of whitewater for about a week, it’s been slow going since things keep happening. Ranging from attacks to stuck wagons. So pretty much the whole of the week. Always different groups too. You can tell by the colors.”
The shutmon knelt down to pull something from one of the troopmon. It was a small blue band around the arm of the offender. Silence dug out about six or so other bands, each different colors and pretty bright.
”Wish I knew. I think it’s the general supplies we have more than anything. Like they want it for whoever their boss is. He’s damned organized too.”
Silence grumbled a bit and slid the band into the pouch she had for them. If she could show these to the guards later they could figure out the areas they had been attacked in and the general range they had. So far the furthest out had the worst of them. But as it was…
”We’re about at the midpoint of the journey too. So If I’m a betting mon… I’d say we’re going to get attacked at least once a day; if not twice or three times as we close on our destination.”
Silence shifted her weight and stood back up, the radio pack the next object of her attention. She’d pull it off of the body and frown. She had hit it pretty damn hard. In fact it was one of her first ‘victims’ so the damage wasn’t as bad as some of the ones she had destroyed as the cresgarurumon.
”Might try to see if I can get one of the caraveeners to fix this. Where are you heading if you don’t mind me asking? And why so curious about these attacks?”
Silence didn’t seem to mind the questions and the shutmon would turn towards the camp; her eyes flicking here or there. She’d bite her lip thoughtfully and shake her head.
”There’s definitely room for another mon if you’re fixing to join the caravan. They pay pretty well and you don’t really have to worry about food.”

’A dutiful choice,’ thought Raimei after Silence had explained why the six troopmon had gotten away. She could safely say that she would have made a different choice herself, but what was done was done. If Silence kept up her pace the blackgabumon didn’t doubt that the caravan would be fine, regardless of how new she was to the Knights. As she listened to the white wolf answer her questions Raimei pried a broken sword from the rubbery fingers of one of the troopmon.
The weapon was too big for her to use even with both hands, but she hadn’t intended on using it in the first place. Holding the broken weapon out in front of her she scrutinized the clean cut that had taken most of the blade off. Looking back to its former owner she noted the wound that had beheaded the other mon.
“Raiders, then? Not surprising when luxuries are hard to find in the jungle,” commented Raimei on Silence’s observations. She glanced at the blades the other mon had on her as the shutmon picked some colorful trophies off her kills. At first sight she didn’t think they would be capable of cleanly breaking another thicker sword, let alone following through with enough force to take someone’s head off after. Perhaps they were made with a special material, or Silence’s arm strength was abnormal for her size. Tossing the broken sword back to the ground Raimei started to help in collecting armbands. She had been walking towards Silence to turn in her findings when the questions were then aimed at herself.
“Ah, so long as I can keep my feet on the ground I don’t really care where I walk to. I’m sorry if I’ve been prying too much into a stranger’s business, but the smell of gunpowder concerned me. It’s what led me here through the jungle.” Seeing that Silence was going to head back to camp Raimei stuffed the armbands into her pouch and digitized it for later. The offer of joining up with the caravan was unexpected, but not an unwelcome surprise. Moving beside Silence Raimei looked back towards the direction of the camp as well.
“I don’t know what I could do for them that you could not, Knight. That being said, I wouldn’t mind working for food instead of payment. I have no destination so wherever you are all going is fine with me either way.”

Honestly it was likely that silence would make this caravan get to it’s end destination even if they didn’t want to. Given how well she was managing the threat currently. She’d rub at her snout and eye the other as they inspected that weapon. She knew for a fact that the other likely wouldn’t use it on her but there was a moment that her arm blades seemed to think otherwise. They’d shift ever so slightly but she’d make the conscious decision not to unsheathe them.
”Raiders generally just burn stuff to burn it. These ones were attacking with a purpose. Carefully avoiding any destruction near the caravan itself. If they didn’t care they would have used the rocket from the get go rather than shooting at me.”
Silence frowned a bit and tossed the broken straps from the radio to the side; they’d digitize on their own eventually and she wouldn’t have to worry about the pick up here. Some feral mons would go after the bodies to ingest the data of the suits. Everything out here was part of a cycle and that was one part of it. Even now she could feel the eyes of predators that didn’t want to get too close to the pair of mons. Some of them had no doubt seen her in the midst of the fight and wanted none of that.
”Hmm. Fair I suppose. You have a good nose if you could smell the gunpowder with all these scents around. Makes it kinda hard for me.”
Silence grumbled a bit; she had a shorter range than she’d like given that the jungle was just chock full of different smells. She almost didn’t react in time to the appearance of the troopmon… but that hardly mattered when she made up for it in a different fashion.
”Another set of eyes hardly can go to waste and you were able to get closer to me than most of the caraveneers could before I noticed them. Then they’ll likely be all right with you!”
The shutmon grinned a bit and it’d just be another minute before they were in the ring of wagons. There were mostly mons but the few humans that were there were either sleeping or sitting with their backs to the outside world. Silence approached one of the humans; some shorter human with glasses and an overpacked bag by the way it was bulging. He’d look up and blink just as the shutmon tossed the radio pack at him.
”See if you can fix that richard. Is lucas around?”
“Oh uh… Yeah I should be… Jeez silence you really did a number. Lemme see if I can. He’s over by the food tent.”
Silence turned and gestured for raimei to follow her; she looked somewhat relaxed about all of this. She was in her element helping people and being the one to fight agaisnt some strange odds. Not even a minute later she’d stick her head into the tent and snort as the scents of the food hit her nostrils.
”Lucas? Got someone new you should see.”
There was a soft grunt and not even a moment later did a mon step out of the tent. Gently pushing silence’s head away from his own. The chackmon didn’t seem to have his weapon on him but the small bit of presence he commanded in his area was surprising. He’d look raimei up and down before frowning and just looking up at silence like he was demanding an answer.
”Well she was able to sneak up on me. Sooo… good set of extra eyes. Erm. This is lucas rai; he’s the one that got the caravan together. He runs most of the ones from between whitewater and rosewood.”
”Most. If not all.”
The low and deep grating voice didn’t seem to fit the chackmon; but it was what came out of his mouth anyways. He’d fold his arms and frown lightly. He’d huff a bit and shake his head. Silence on the other hand smirked and stretched; she knew what that meant given the personality of the smaller mon.
”I trust your judgement Silence and you’re head of our security so if you think it’s a good idea to take in someone new halfway I won’t question it. What’s your name? And yah got any preferences on food I should know bout?”

Silence had brought up a fair point about the nature of her attackers. If Raimei were in their shoes and simply looking to cause chaos, a rocket would have been the first weapon fired. Maybe there was something more to these troopmon, but without any real leads right now there wasn’t any point in mental acrobatics. The shutmon didn’t seem to think there would be any problems bringing in a new face to the group, and Raimei smiled back politely when she was grinned at.
“That’s good. This jungle makes for a long and lonely walk,” was all she said in reply.
When they got back to the camp Raimei remained at Silence’s side as the other led them around. She silently observed the people she could see. There weren’t as many humans as there were digimon, but still more than what the blackgabumon had expected. Only a couple were out and about, but she could smell the others. Scents from the real world were strangely vivid to her nose. Her ears perked up curiously at Silence’s beckoning gesture, and soon they were in front of one of the tents that permeated pleasant aromas that made her mouth water.
This Lucas person, a chackmon, was quick to answer Silence’s request. Raimei noted the lack of his signature weapon, but he still carried himself with an air of authority. Standing still for his inspection Raimei said nothing, and only eyed the white bear back with a scrutinizing gaze. Silence explained the situation, and that appeared to be good enough for Lucas.
“My name is Raimei,” she answered as she nodded her head in a greeting. “I don’t have a preference on food, at least not for anything here in the jungle. Warm simple meals work fine for me. I also explained to Silence that I’ll be working for food instead of bits; you’re the ones doing me a favor picking me up in the jungle, after all. If you need anything else from me, just ask.”

”That it does. Though it wouldn't be the first time I’ve had to walk it! And it certainly won’t be the last hah!”
The shutmon chuckled a bit and shook her head; the camp was pretty well organized truth be told. The few people that were out seemed to be out for a reason and plenty of soft sounds would lead to finding people passed out in various tents or locales.
Lucas looked ramei up and down as she introduced herself; he didn’t seem to have a problem with her in the slightest. Though with that gaze she returned him he couldn’t help but raise a small brow; which brought a chuckle from silence. It’d be like this for a lot of new people…
”Well nice to meet you Raimei. I’ll be sure to let the cooks know. Since Silence is our security mon for this trip you’ll just be working with her for most of this. Probably for the best really. Dunno how trusting the others will be to someone they picked up most of the way through after all these attacks.”
The chackmon gave a shrug and turned slightly, leaning and reaching into his tent. A moment later a small pack of jerky would be offered to Raimei. The cooks weren’t up and at it so those that were here would have to figure out what they wanted if they were hungry.
”To tide you over till the morning. Since breakfast is still a good ways off. Is night patrol over Silence?”
”Well once sep comes back from checking a trip we’ll know for sure.”
The chackmon shuddered a little bit and waved the two off; he didn’t have much more to add. He knew what they both were doing and how to pay one of them. Honestly it was pretty straightforward from here on out wasn’t it?
”I’ll make sure to let you know if I need anything raimei. But I doubt it. Erm… just keep an eye out for stuff yeah?”
With that the chackmon would go back into his tent, fiddling with something off to one side before soft music would start playing. It seemed that the little white bear liked his classical genre! Silence shook her head and motioned for the other to follow her. Once outside the ring of wagons again the shutmon leaned up against one of them.
”Kinda a pity they all respond to him like that... You hear anything Raimei?”
The question was much more lax than before, like she wasn’t worried. If raimei listened in she would be able to hear the soft padding of something large approaching and some trees being brushed up against. At the edge of the clearing a pair of large orange eyes peeked into existence and simply stared at the pair.
Sooner rather than later… Did that begin to approach? The massive demon dog’s own light slowly making it’s body known to the both of them. It was huge, easily bigger than silence and almost twice as long. It even could peek over the tents if it so desired. But once it was close enough it’d take a seat and simply stare at the two of them before speaking. It’s voice was surprisingly soft and gentle.
”The trip wire turned out to be just a pair of biyomon’s passing through… No threat. They were a bit concerned about the fighting from earlier though…”
Silence gave a nod before sep's eyes slid to raimei and he’d simply cock his head. He wasn’t going to ask for a name; there were so many people here. If raimei felt inclined she could give it but… For now he seemed content to just introduce himself with a single word.
”Sepulchure”

Lucas had brought up a good point, and one Raimei hadn’t quite considered yet. At the mention of the others not fully trusting her just yet the blackgabumon looked over her shoulder towards the rest of the camp. Sure enough, there were some people meandering around that were watching the three talk.
“..I understand,” replied Raimei earnestly. The caravan had endured at least one attack that she knew of, and it made sense for them to be wary of strangers. That thought made her glance up to Silence curiously for a moment, but then her attention returned to Lucas as he offered something to her. The smell of dried meats made her jaw tense up for a second. How long had it been since she had real food? She had gotten by simply foraging in the jungle all this time. The blackgabumon bowed her head respectfully as she took the package.
“Thank you for your kindness, Lucas.” The food was digitized and stored for later consumption as she listened to Silence and Lucas exchange a few words. It was strange to see a chackmon shudder given Silence’s seemingly simple response, and it was a detail that didn’t go unnoticed. She nodded respectfully once more to Lucas as the gruff white bear left them, and proceeded to follow alongside Silence.
“Do you mean Sep?” she asked in response to the shutmon’s comment. She didn’t have to wait long to find out. Her ears flicked towards the sound of quiet, but heavy footsteps in the woods. Immediately she turned to face the oncoming entity, only to find herself staring at a pair of large orange eyes. On instinct Raimei bared her teeth and narrowed her eyes, but Silence’s lack of action stopped her from doing anything more. Standing her ground beside the shutmon Raimei visibly relaxed after the strange digimon stepped into view and addressed Silence directly. Like with Lucas she didn’t care much for the stranger’s scrutiny. She had to admit however, that she had never seen a digimon like him before, and did not know how to respond other than introducing herself in turn.
“Raimei.”

”Not a problem, just lemme know if you need more or something.”
The chackamon gave a small little dismissive wave at the thanks before they were ‘left’ on their own. Silence didn’t seem too bothered by the response of lucas; Sep wasn’t exactly someone that you got along with at all times. He was definitely someone big and scary; not someone you’d want kids or the usual suspects around.
”Hmm? Oh Yeah. He’s a good guy but a bit scary to regular folks. Or folks that don’t particularly like virus types.”
She could have slid in the fact she knew that Sepulchure was evil; that he wanted to rip, tear and feast on folks. But in her heart she knew he was a good digimon and the way he followed her and spent time with her she understood just how wronged he was.
That being said the massive digimon took a more rested position and he’d flick his ears in such a way to indicate he was still keeping track of the area around them. He was a watchdog if you could describe him in a simple term.
”You were not part of the group before we left. Did we pick her up recently? Her scent is new."
The large demon dog sniffed at the air; as though getting accustomed to the scent of raimei. Though he’d sneeze after a moment and the shutmon laughed. She’d walk up and pat the top of sep’s head; not seeming bothered by his presence at all.
”Hungry?”
”I could use something to eat yes.”
That being said; silence would provide him with his own rations and she’d take a seat up against him. Waiting for raimei to pace around or speak for the most part before taking a bite of her own strip.
”If the biggest threat around here is the biyomons it makes me wonder where all the predators went. You didn’t chase them off right?”
”They have been strangely absent. I believe the troopmon must have done away with them. If their schedule is to be believed they will attack in the morning when most are asleep still.”
”Lovely. Raimei do you have any idea how to fight rubber bodies?”

She had to agree that scary would be one apt description of Sepulchure. The demon dog’s appearance attracted far too much attention for its own good, and for all the wrong reasons. His attribute type didn’t bother her much being another virus type herself. That being said, her comrades back in Luminas would have undoubtedly kept a close watch on this Sep fellow, as she would do so now.
“The jungle has travelers passing through at any given time,” commented the black gabumon in response to Sepulchure, “...although, most of those travelers recently have been troopmons. It’s hard not to be curious with all their noises and smells, and this convoy is what I’ve found at the end of that trail.”
Seeing Silence pat the other digimon on the head as if he were a domesticated pet didn’t help to ease Raimei’s apprehensions. Not wanting to cause any trouble though she sat next to the other two digimon, facing them both, and listened. Hearing about another possible attack happening made her wonder what she had gotten herself into, but somewhere deep down it felt nice to be doing something worthwhile for once. Her gaze turned to Silence when she was addressed, and Raimei answered without hesitation.
“Cutting them works well, but you already know about that, Knight. Blunt force trauma will only be useful against a troopmon’s mask and eye lenses. If any part of their suits can be sufficiently breached, other attacks like fire will become viable. In an environment like this, however?” The black gabumon paused to observe their jungle surroundings with a thoughtful glance. “Unless they’re well coordinated or already have a beaten path to travel, their protective suits will slow them down even if they don’t tire.” Her eyes returned back to Silence, her voice still calm.
“If the beating you gave them earlier is any indication, however; I’d say that this convoy is in good hands. Either way, it would be my suggestion to hit the enemy first to keep the fighting away from the others.”

Silence didn’t seem terribly bothered by sepulchure’s appearance; in fact it didn’t even stop her from nudging him or giving him a pat on the head much to his chagrin. Though he appreciated the gesture; in front of a new person he was a little less receptive. His eyes staring quietly at the gabumon as she responded to him.
I suppose you are correct and yes. For some reason this area has a heavy presence of troopmon with varying weapons. From ranged to melee and even some magical. Though that latter part seems very very rare. Well you definitely found the safest place to be out of the forest.”
Sep flicked an ear a bit and adjusted himself; Silence paused and dug through her bag, producing some food for the larger dog. It sucked not having hands and his focus being elsewhere he’d snack down the lengths of jerky that silence tossed to him. Huffing as he chewed.
”Well you certainly have the jist of it. Sep here has been breaching their suits and pouring the inside with fire to damage the spirits that are controlling the suits.”
Silence paused at the idea of them being coordinated and the beaten path. The troopmon did vanish fairly quickly and with an approving growl the shutmon patted sep’s flank. Which prompted him to start trotting away.
”Well I certainly hope they are. Sep here will take home defense while the two of us are going to do exactly that.”
Silence adjusted herself biting into one of the lengths of jerky she didn’t toss to sep before starting to walk away from the camp. They were going to do some active fighting and the grin on her face said that she was looking forward to it. Her eyes slipped to raimei and she’d hum a little bit.
”So then lets go pick from the battlefield, I can show you where they attacked from and you can help me find this path they may have come from.”
Silence seemed to be planning something, with the way her hand had set itself on the sword at her hip. Drawing a small line between the pommel to the ‘handguard’. She was far more than just a berserker and far far more than just a simple self proclaimed knight.

It certainly was odd to hear about troopmons having magical weapons. Normally their arsenals were crude, but modern. She let loose an amused chuckle though when Sepulchure claimed she was now in the safest place possible.
"You have a strange definition of 'safe.' This caravan is the target of these raids, not the forest. Although I will admit it again that this group is well protected regardless."
She turned her gaze back to Silence next as the large demon dog left them. It seemed that her role tonight would be to assist on the front lines if she was understanding things correctly. Raimei simply nodded in agreement. Even as a hired hand in the matter she found the arrangement acceptable.
"Very well then," she said as she stood up too. The look on Silence's face hinted at excitement and anticipation. The black gabumon didn't exactly share the lust for battle, but it was good to know that her partner was at least confident in the fight's outcome.
"Let's get to work, Boss."
