He looked up at her at this offer and was honestly a little surprised that she would offer that. "Y-you would do that for me? But what if we learn something about me that...isn't what we want to know?" He said nervously. He shook his head and pressed his forehead against hers "No, we'll figure it out...w-we will. We will." He repeated to reassure himself. She wanted him to move on past whatever pain and heartache that he had. To genuinely live without that worry shackling him. He didn't know what to say.
He laughed softly at her reaction to the spices "O-oh, okay. I figured you meant taste. I-I'm sure there's plenty of ingredients that will add to the flavor profile." He said. He nodded at the suggestion to go shopping in Whitewater sometime soon "I'd like that...it would be f-fun."
Once the ship was able to sail, he hopped back onto the boat and waited for them to be out onto the open sea. Thankfully he didn't feel too bad yet, but he kept the pills within arms reach in case things got rough. As the day went on, he found that the gentle sailing was actually quite relaxing as opposed to distressing. He walked up to the front of the ship as they got closer to the island. "Wow..." He felt a shiver run up his spine. Something about this place seemed...frightening, but he wanted to push forward. He was here with his dear friend after all. Soon, they dropped anchor together as Antylamon showed him where they would be sleeping.
He tilted his head as Antylamon looked nervous about something. It looked like she had a lot on her mind so he wanted to do everything he could to listen to what she had to say. "O-of course, what is it?" He walked up and climbed onto the bed to listen to her.

Then we’ll work it out somehow, we’ll figure out what to do but it’s not something you should worry about. The worst of the world isn’t from what-ifs or what did I do… it’s of the actions of hatred and misunderstandings.
She’d close her eyes and hold the smaller mon in such a way to support him. He needed this support; she could tell that much. Why else would it worry him? Why else would it drive him to such incredible lengths to reform himself? She had to wonder ever so softly what sort of life his prior self had led to leave such an impression on his current and the now.
Well… This is true! We’ll have to look around when we get back!
The antylamon smiled gently and rubbed at the top of the lopmon’s head before settling down for a bit. Letting the ship basically sail itself. It wasn’t hard; it didn’t take much for her to learn how to do all of this. It was even easier with big and strong bodies like antylamon!
You feel it too?
She’d ask by holding a small book to her friend; she had come across this place by mere chance before and hadn’t the guts to go about it without some severe preparation. Heck she wasn’t sure if she would have gone without her dear friend here!
Once inside and on that bed the antylamon was grateful to get the weight off of her feet. She felt her core pound and her cheeks flushed a bit she’d fumble with her book a bit and struggled to write something out quite a few times. Eventually harumphing to herself and setting the book aside. She couldn’t put it to words and every way that she was trying to ask seemed wrong.
Instead?
She’d pluck up the lopmon and just hug him against her. There was a tenderness and gentle want behind this action. She felt comfortable and safe around this mon; it was just that simple and she simply wanted him to be safe. She wanted him to stay around her as long as he was willing and maybe just maybe he could hear that from her pounding core. She had scribbled it enough times that if the lopmon glanced at her open book he’d see the dozens of times she had tried to ask. But only had managed to get maybe three or four words in before scribbling it out!

They'll work it out. For some reason that was acceptable for Malik. It was something to figure out when it became something to address. It didn't affect them now, or who he was today. There was nothing to be done about it right now, so he allowed himself to relax and put it out of his mind. Without all of that to worry about and focus on, Malik's expression actually softened somewhat. He seemed content and peaceful for the first time in ages.
If it weren't Antylamon writing messages for him, Malik might have actually fallen asleep in her arms. He smiled softly when she seemed eager to go shopping for some ingredients and spices for new meals. That should be fun, he though. Fun...he found this fun, didn't he? He was actually enjoying himself.
He gulped as he thought about the island. There was something about it that made him want to avoid it. It seemed so dark and ominous in ways he didn't really know how to explain. "I feel...something. It's...suffocating. I don't know how else to explain it. I feel there's something there we should leave alone, but...we should check it out anyway...so no one else accidentally does something here." He said with a slightly shaky determination.
Still, they were resting on the bed now. Here, it was safe. He looked at Antylamon and wondered why she seemed so flustered and unsure. Was she not feeling well? Every attempt she made to write down what she wanted to didn't seem to go well. This must have been a very serious thing she wanted to ask, so he gave her his undivided attention.
Instead, he found himself being hugged by her, though this time it felt warmer and gentler than the hugs from before. He could feel her very core pounding against him. He glanced over at the book and started to piece things together. His vision started to get blurry as he started to cry. "H-huh?" These feelings were so different from the friendship and attachment he had come to expect. This was honest, gentle love. She loved him? "Why...?" Was all he uttered as he returned the hug as much as his small arms could allow. He just didn't understand why she felt this way, but he knew one thing for certain. He felt the same way she did and he tried to get that across with the hug he gave her.

They were both fairly tired so it wasn’t surprising to feel malik relax a bit in her arms after all that talking and what not. All that standing around and just letting the boat move up and down. It was something that could make many fall asleep and why wouldn’t it for them? She was happy to make plans to go shopping with him and even happier that he agreed that they should!
Well that’s even more of a reason to go out and check it out!
Antylamon nodded her head a few times; if he sensed it too then they were in agreement it seemed! Even if it was scary they could handle it right? The two of them would make for a great team she figured!
Even as she fumbled for her words and inevitably drew the other into a hug. Her face was flushed and she felt that core of hers pounding in her chest. She felt those tears of his on her fur and all she could do was gently hug him against her. He understood then? That it was okay to feel this way? And that she did indeed love him.
She wanted to explain it all, explain the choices of it and the nuances but she couldn’t put it to words and just. Simply sat there holding malik tightly. Her head pressing against his for a moment. It wouldn’t be long before the bliss of sleep and companionship claimed them both.
Which also meant that the morning itself came just as quickly; leaving the antylamon blinking a bit as she realized she had fallen asleep. Still gently holding malik against her. Hopefully she was comfy enough for the other to rest against her. If not she would have felt rather bad.
She’d exhale a little bit and fumble for her book; shaky hands writing out a message to show the other. Was she foolish for admitting such a thing to him last night? Or was it something that she would never regret?
Good morning malik… I hope I didn’t ah… startle you with last night. Are you ready to go on and check out the island now?

He smiled softly, glad that she was in agreement that they should check out the island. It was for the sake of others who might stumble upon it one day. He steeled himself...this was something that KIZNA would do for others, isn't it? Even if it wasn't, it was something he wanted to do for others. Still, he was worried. She was Champion level, and he was just a Rookie level. Would he even be able to help her if things got bad?
The two of them embraced tightly and fell asleep in each others arms. His rest was more peaceful than it had ever been before. Her presence made him feel as if everything was going to be okay and that his worries didn't matter right now. The gratitude and happiness he felt right now was something he couldn't possibly put into words without tripping over his words a dozen times, so he just stayed close to her.
As he woke up with a yawn, he sat up and rubbed his eyes. He looked up at Antylamon and smiled sweetly "I-it's okay. It was surprising...but a good surprise." He said. He hopped off the bed and stretched. He felt invigorated and ready to take on the day ahead "Y-yeah, I'm ready whenever you are! I hope I can help out when things get rough." He said nervously. He stepped out onto the deck and listened to the sound of the waves and admired the view of the open sky.
It was peaceful for the moment, on this boat. He felt ready to explore and do what he had to do. He was excited to explore and see what the deal was with this island. If it was dangerous, he would have Antylamon's back. To the best of his current abilities anyway. "It's very peaceful right now...if something happens I-I'll do my best to help."

Antylamon was glad that they had gotten such a good rest, yawning and stretching a bit as she had slowly gotten up. Part of her didn’t want to get up, she just wanted to sit there and eventually she’d lean to rub noses with the smaller mon.
Well… I’m glad it was a good surprise.
The antylamon smiled sweetly and she’d start to get the boat ready for them being gone; she couldn’t put it away unfortunately but she had been looking into that! It’d save her some money on renting her part of the pier and the antylamon flicked her ears this way or that as they stood on deck together.
Hmm… It is very peaceful, kind of worrying but that’s to be expected! C’mon dear.
The antylamon would pick up malik and if he didn’t argue she’d kick off of the deck, sailing through the air. Adjusting her trajectory with a soft kick here or there. Eventually they’d reach the beach and she’d land before depoisting the lopmon on the beach. She looked curious and couldn’t help but scratch at her cheek.
So do we go straight to the ruins or do we search the area around here first?
She wasn’t sure what was the best way to handle this; she was super unused to delving into dungeons or ruins, in fact this was her first time doing either. The antylamon sould shift a bit and consider what she wanted to do herself but found that both offered opportunities that the other didn’t. They’d be safer with one, but more to the point with the other…
She’d sigh a bit, and with a hand she’d rub at one of maliks ears. Trying to be supportive as she also just… wanted to be around him. It was a strange feeling and there was a small part of her that begged her to just go back to the boat with him.

Malik was still a little nervous about this new relationship, but that was due to his own insecurity on the matter. He leaned in and rubbed his nose against Antylamon's with a slight blush.
The two of them worked together to get the boat anchored for their journey into the island. "It's very quiet, but that oppressive atmosphere I felt yesterday still lingers...i-it may seem peaceful for now, but there's something wrong on t-this island." He said in response to Antylamon's initial assessment.
He raised his ears in any attempt to hear something nearby, but it doesn't seem like there was much going on. He couldn't pick up any unusual sounds. He jumped slightly as Antylamon pet one of his ears. He smiled shyly as he thought about what they should do next. "I-If there's something wrong here then it m-might be affecting places other than the ruins themselves. We should take a look around and see if anything else s-seems off in some way." He said with a nod.
He also felt a little nervous about going forward, unsure of what they might find. Still, the two of them made it this far. To turn back now wouldn't solve this mystery any faster as much as he wanted to spend some more time with her. This was what he should do, anyway. He felt he had an obligation to investigate due to his position in KIZNA. Perhaps they would find some kind of artifact to work with or something that will inspire some kind of invention.
"We should move forward. If a-at any point you want to turn and leave, let me know. I'm worried about what we might find here, but I'm also scared of what might happen to other people if they f-found this island."

Antylamon could tell that malik was a bit nervous, she understood it because in truth she was pretty nervous too! But that washed away whenever she looked upon the other smaller mon. She’d close her eyes and let out a small sigh; honestly all of this felt so surreal… She’d flick her ears as the other spoke; it was indeed quiet but that atmosphere was still there. The oppressiveness made her wonder how long it had been here and she’d look around; squinting her eyes thoughtfully.
I just hope it’s nothing bad. If it is I’m not entirely sure if we can handle it. If it is too much we should go back and get help.
The antylamon formed one of her hands into a fist and gently papped it against the other one; looking somewhat resolved to solve this without violence! The antylamon looked down to the other and smiled warmly at them.
I’ll let you know don’t worry, that’s part of the reason why I brought it up to you and didn’t go off to someone else with this right away. I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to do about all of this. But the answer kind of seems right in front of us.
The antylamon nodded her head and if malik didn’t object she’d scoop him up and place him on her shoulder. Her strides were larger and he wouldn’t have to struggle keeping up with her if they needed to move quickly.
The journey through the forest was rather uneventful; it was dead silent and there wasn’t anyone around. Often more than not in this you’d have the songs of the biyomons or the steady sounds of life all around you. In this dead silence even antylamon’s footsteps were like gongs.
Eventually the sound of her feet hitting rock brought her attention downwards; she had stepped on what looked to be an ancient brick road. The soft grey of it had been worn over time and a few scratches here or there marked territory disputes from the local fauna. But the oppressive atmosphere had heightened as they had gotten closer and now with them on the edge of a somewhat mayian looking grouping of buildings…
It was clear that something here was upset, the two side ‘ruins’ were mostly in disrepair. Large sections of them were damaged and one of them was completely a wreck; there was no way they were going to get in there unless they had digging equipment. Only the center, taller one that the antylamon was surprised they couldn’t see from the beach stood completely undamaged. There wasn’t even anything growing off of it and the antylamon felt like she should point that out… if malik didn’t notice it first.
I think we should go to that middle one. But at the same time every part of my body is screaming I should leave.
Of course this meant that the antylamon wanted to get closer and that she wanted to explore it. Just what was causing all of this? What was making the local fauna literally scramble to get away from this place? The antylamon furrowed her brow and took another step; finding that gnawing sensation in the back of her mind growing steadily.
One thing was clear. Whatever it was… didn’t want visitors.

Even Antylamon wasn't entirely sure if they were capable of whatever force had made the island their home, and that wasn't doing much for Malik's confidence. The data within him flickered slightly, a strange static creating white noise in his mind. He could become stronger, but he doesn't know how to. He wasn't strong enough to digivolve. His data was too unstable to digivolve and he simply felt like a walking mass of trash data that somehow formed a barely functioning creature.
He reassurances sort of brought him back to his senses, but such things would linger on in his thoughts. All he could offer was a weak nod in response. He was slightly startled that she would place him upon her shoulder. He didn't object, he was more just surprised. He braced a hand against her shoulder to stay balanced.
The silence gripped Malik to his very core. It was deafeningly quiet, which was something that Malik typically enjoyed. However, in this context it showed that something around here was very wrong. He narrowed his eyes at the path they had stumbled upon, the great buildings ahead ancient and full of untapped history. Such a place would be alluring for the archaeological type, but the air here was oppressive. Something here was angry judging by the state of the buildings. This was more than natural degradation.
Then there was the untouched building. No overgrowth and no damage. Something had to be tending to this place and only this place from the looks of it. Whatever it was, it currently had their eyes on them. "I th-think it's too late to leave..." He muttered quietly, his mind racing from a mixture of anxiety, fear, and...wrath? He was angry. Whatever this was, it was likely a threat that wanted to harm him and Antylamon. The thought of her coming to any sort of harm terrified and angered him. "I'm so weak...I...want to defend you, but I'm too weak...my data is too unstable...I...!" His breathing was rapid yet shallow in his panic and mix of emotions. "I-I should have said that we turned back...I-I can't...handle this..."

Antylamon furrowed her brows and she’d stare up at the building; the silence and the general feel of this place was just… Making it difficult for her to want to step forward. The oppressive air and the state of the building made it even more so concerning. She’d close her eyes, focusing herself before taking a single step. But hearing Malik speak she’d turn her head slightly.
Too late to leave?
She’d blink owlishly and then he started to talk about being too weak, too unstable and then saying they should have turned back. She’d gain a soft look upon her face and she’d reach up, gingerly placing her hand against his cheek. Carefully rubbing at it and she’d manage to nod her head.
It’s all right Malik. I believe in you and I think you’ll be able to do just that.
She stated with a firm hand on that book, giving him a happy smile and even rubbing her head against his. The difference in size was a bit big sure, but she was at least able to give him the affection that he needed. The support that he needed. She’d huff out a bit and slowly work her way closer and closer to the ruins. Looking up at it with a somewhat curious expression.
...Do we go up or through the door?
She wasn’t sure, both felt wrong. Both felt right. Would one tie into the other or would they be stuck with going in just one way? She didn’t know. She hadn’t been in enough of these to really say for certain. Her eyes flicking between the two of them.
Maybe there was even a third option they weren’t seeing?

Malik wasn't entirely sure why he thought it was too late to leave, but the feelings he had about this place told him something wrong was going on. Did he feel they couldn't leave until they solved whatever mystery was here? Either way, he was still very guarded. That was until Antylamon's support calmed him down. Her embrace and loving nature further bolstered his courage to move forward despite his apprehension and fears. Those words of 'I believe in you' were enough for him to steel himself.
It appeared they had two options going forward. Either climbing up the structure or going in through the door. Though approaching such a structure without knowing its purpose could lead them around in circles or directly into danger. From his vantage point on Antylamon's shoulder, he quickly looked around the area in search of any possible clues. With how clean the building was, any blemish would be easier to spot. If there were any well-traveled paths or objects of interest, he would do his best to point them out.
"I'm n-not sure what we'll find here but we should take a look around here first. C-considering this building's condition, t-there are still those using it...but are there paths they're using a lot? M-maybe whoever was here left behind s-something that will help us understand what's going on."

The antylamon drew herself up, looking around and glancing from locale to locale. There was so much to work with here; so much that begged her attention. Malik had a good point with checking what paths they were using a lot. She’d step forward and agonizingly dragged her feet along the paths for a moment before she was able to work off the heebie jeebies this place gave her.
One of the paths looked the most used and certainly even looked more recent than the others. A lot of small tracks… and one very big looking set of footprints. Deep grooves in the stone and… some scrapes from something’s belly? If she had to guess there was a large snake, some kind of robot… and probably their goons or something?
She’d write this down on her journal and show it to malik. Her speculation was that the two ‘larger’ prints were two separate mons even though they overlapped a bit… while all the little ones made her think of smaller rookie types. But she didn’t know enough about mons by their trails to really make a guess other than maybe troopmon, impmon or… Well possibly goblinmons?
She didn’t particularly like the last ones; they were always rude and always were really good at digging under her skin with insults. Thinking that the quiet rabbit type digimon would be keen to just standing around and letting them do what they pleased. She still remembered when they tried to take her boat a little bit after she had gotten it…
I think what we should look for is probably… well. Like you said ‘something left behind’ if it’s any of the three… maybe we’ll find some scales, a club or… robot castings I don’t know what robots leave behind.

Malik studied the tracks as well as Antylamon's notes. He brushed a tiny hand along his chin as he thought about it "Those could...also be drag marks." He said as he pointed at the deeper scrapes. "I don't...like the implications of that, though." He admitted with a shudder. He hopped down and started to look at the footprints and markings as he kept an eye out for anything that might have been left behind.
Logic would dictate that if anything were dropped, it would be very close to where the footprints were leading towards, so he would march forward slowly to see if he could spot something worth bringing up. Hopefully there wouldn't be any kind of ambush or trap ahead, though. If that were the case he would not know how to deal with that.
These ruins were remote, so whoever stayed here either desired peace and solitude, or needed a hideout hidden away from the rest of the world. "I don't know who would live out here. Either they wanted to be isolated, or some group is plotting something...with the amount of footprints I'm seeing, I'm worried it's the latter." He said as he stepped back. "Secluded? Plotting?" He shook his head as a terrible headache wracked his mind "I don't...I don't want to think of that anymore. When someone cruel plots so far away...it's never good for anyone..." He grit his teeth as his data flared for a moment before he calmed down. "I don't think I was a very good person before my life now...b-but I don't...want to let that control me now."

Drag marks would be bad. Very bad. Cause that means that it might be something strong or big… tch.The antylamon huffed a bit and she’d shift so that it wasn’t so far of a drop for malik. She’d blink a bit as he looked at those footprints. If he paid close enough attention there would be small specs of white here or there. Almost like scales… up until one of the footprints had a large almost dinner plate scale half hidden by the dirt. It’s possible that it could be both. I don’t like the implications of either them. Maybe secluded and just wants to be really really left alone tut tut…She’d pause and gently reach down, rubbing along the top of malik’s head. She’d give him a warm smile and well she’d take a step towards the temple. They had come this far… might as well see how far they could go ultimately! Well you’re a good person now and want to do good things now. So that’s what matters. She wrote that so fluidly and so supportively that there wasn’t any other doubt in her mind besides that fact. She’d bristle a bit and pick that scale out of the dirt. Maybe the drag marks were… What sort of large mon would have a scale of this size? I think I know what we’re looking at… some kind of lizard or snake digimon with white scales. She’d motion for him to follow her, even offering to pick him up again. It wouldn’t be long before they got to the bottom entrance and that’s when the aura would hit. The aura of cold, the temptation to run making a beeline in the antylamon’s mind. But she’d huff a bit and take a step forward. Firmly pushing that emotion away. She didn’t have time to really write anything down, nor was it really that bright in there anyways. The very first room that they would be greeted with was immaculate past the few scales here or there… and then an entire shedded length of some kind of snake. Something positively massive. The antylamon looked about and found herself frowning. Glancing to malik as she didn’t recognize this lifeless husk. Antylamon would step forward, running her hand along the husk. Watching it crumble and comparing the dinner plate scale to what she was looking at... It was kinda small for this by the looks of it! She looked confused and would glance back at malik once more. Managing a firm shrug....

Malik investigated the scales left behind by whoever had traveled through here. Definitely something left behind by some kind of Digimon, he thought. It seemed he and Antylamon were both in agreement that the implications here were rather dire if it was the worst case.
He relaxed slightly at her touch, grateful that she was still so supportive despite his own self-doubts and potentially awful past. He couldn't even think of any words to respond with other than "Thank you."
"Well if it's a snake Digimon that would explain the drag marks...is it shedding?" He wondered as they continued down the path. He accepted her offer to pick him up again as he hopped back up onto her shoulder for the time being.
Suddenly a cold, oppressive aura caused Malik to shiver and lean against Antylamon for support. What exactly was going on here? This just proved further that there was something not right with this place. What furthered his suspicious about the snake Digimon were proved correct when he saw the shed hide which crumbled slightly. The room had an ominous air to it, but it was very well taken care of. "It seems there were Digimon here recently after all...this place is too clean and neat for it to have been a recent place of refuge..."
He wondered what was going on as they made their way further through the chamber. "It seemed like whoever the Digimon is they were shedding...with how it's still crumbling it was quite recent as well. With the other footprints it seems like it was led here by force or otherwise." He tried to deduce "But those are all just guesses on my part."
