Would like bits as reward. Tyvm. Was it fine for a preschooler to know the exact path to her cousin’s home? Well, it was kinda just down the street, so it wasn’t like a complex route or anything, but was it really alright for her to venture out of her home on her own?
If asked, she’d just answer that she was bored out of her mind and decided to do something fun! Little Juni was a girl that definitely preferred an active lifestyle —then again, what kid didn’t— over its sedentary counterpart, especially when she was at walking distance of her best friend’s house!
The day felt so bright and exhilarating that spending it inside would be a complete waste, anyway. Thus, the small child found herself standing next to her cousin’s door after about fifteen minutes that were mostly spent dressing herself and filling a backpack with all the sweets items needed for her next adventure.
Of course, entering Michi’s home was, most of the time, easier said than done. If her uncle or aunt answered the door, she risked being returned to her home and would subsequently miss today’s adventure. So, how had the two girls managed to elude the ever watchful gaze of the dreadful adults? The method was, in its essence, quite simple. Juni knocked the door in a pattern that was only known to the two girls. Then, just in case, took her designated hiding spot behind a nearby tree. If Michi answered the door, then the younger girl would be smuggled inside the house until they reached the safety of her cousin’s room. And then, if her parents barged in? Juni could always hide under the bed or inside a wardrobe with practiced efficiency. Perfect plan, wasn’t it?
Now, it was only a matter of executing it. What was about to happen? Nobody could know for certain.

Bits please and thanks!
The waiting game was always the worst game. Sitting on the couch, pretending to be casual. For a little kid, that was really tough! Especially looking casual. While Michi definitely thought she pulled 'inconspicuous' off really well, it would probably come out years later that she had always been absolutely awful at it. Everyone knew when a child was up to no good, after all!
Except, this was totally for the good of everyone! Mankind even, maybe! Or, Michikind. And the sanity of her parents, since she'd inevitably end up bothering them out of boredom otherwise! And there was little worse in life than a preschooler shouting 'mom' repeatedly, with no actual conversation to be had. Feet swung several inches above the floor, while the brunette sat on the couch near the door. She had conveniently turned the volume up a little too loudly, but so far hadn't gotten the attention of her parents. It wouldn't matter too much anyway. By the time anyone got sick of the noise, Michi expected she wouldn't be in the room anyway!
But why the loud sounds, when she knew her parents wouldn't be thrilled? Well. The answer was obvious, after a pattern tapped upon the door! Scrambling onto the back of the couch to peek out the window, she gave a small tap on the pane, before bouncing off the furniture. With the utmost caution, the girl turned the handle to the door, and slowly pushed it open. "Psst!" She hissed, probably a little too loudly, "Mom's in the back garden, we're in!" Yes, just like in a spy movie. Or something. Secret agents Michi and Juni were top class stealth-ninjas! Or something along those lines!
Which meant, the trip to Michi's plushy-filled utopia-of-a-bedroom was a piece of cake! Of course, there could be no time wasted! Who knew when her mom would come back inside? So they'd definitely have to hurry! Plus, no spies just walked places! Sneaky running or rolling, only!

Juni couldn’t contain her excitement as the mission progressed. Thus far, everything had gone pretty smoothly, but, if spy movies were anything to go by, things could take a turn for the worse at any moment! That’s why they had to be silent and efficient.
Movies weren’t very good at portraying real silence and efficiency, so the operation currently underway was probably a lot less smooth in practice, but no less fun. It came without saying that the small brunette was probably having the time of her life right now.
“Copied” The girl quickly answered as she abandoned her hiding spot and rushed inside the house with the maximum possible flamboyancy. After a series of pretty amazing (?) tumbles, spins, and dashes, the two girls would hopefully be in Michi’s room.
What would they do once there? Well, for starters, Juni made sure to find her favorite plush first. Her eyes peered through the room until she saw him, sitting amidst the veritable population of stuffed animals her fellow brunette had. “Heyo, Mister Sharkat!”
Mister Sharkat was a pretty big plush of a shark wearing what looked like some kind of cat onesie. And not the other way around, got it? In any case, she hugged him before setting her backpack down and opening it. Inside. there was enough candy to feed an army, and what looked like a crude manuscript, probably stolen from Aoi’s study: hopefully, she wouldn’t need it any time soon! Unceremoniously, and with all the care an excited preschooler could muster, she opened it.
“See this, Michi? This is mom’s new series!” Juni mentioned while she grabbed a handful of sweets and prepared to stuff her mouth with a good deal of them. “It’s a new manga project, or somethin’ boutta hero who’s locked in an endless fight with a meanie monster and has to be rescued by the heroine before somethin’ terrible happens to him.”
A pause for effect —and sweets— ensued. “What if that’s daddy? Think he’s in danger? Think we shoulda help ‘im?”
Obviously, a manga manuscript and Junko’s own… situation just had to be related, right? And, most importantly, what would be Michiko’s thoughts on it?

Lucky for this spy duo, they were true professionals! No hitches during their mini-mission at all! Michi's mom continued whatever she was doing in the garden. Michi's dad? Must have been at the store. Michi actually didn't know where he was! But he sure wasn't getting in the way of this event! Between 'ninja' running, a very awkward cartwheel that Michi was extremely proud of, and then literally dragging herself with her hands for the last couple of inches into her room, it was really a wonder that this mission had been successful! One thing was for sure. If Michi's mom had been inside the house, they would have been busted!
Then, the tiny brunette sneaked behind her door, carefully closed it, and plopped down on her butt. "Operation, successful!" Which meant? Time to celebrate! By consuming all of Juni's candy goods, of course!
Alas, Mister Sharkat could not greet either child, but if only he could! The shark-pretending-to-be-feline wore a toothy grin, and probably would have hugged Juni back! If only he had the proper appendages (and life-source) to do so! Maybe someday. But, probably not. That would actually be terrifying.
"Ooh! Lemme see! Lemme see!" The girl squeaked, shuffling on her hands and knees across the bedroom floor, to properly approach both candy and the manuscript. And once there, she'd grab some candy, stuff it into her mouth after making sure everything was unwrapped, and then leaned against her cousin in a fashion that was likely to be defined more as 'squishing' than leaning. "It's gotta be," she agreed, firmly, while trying to read over the script. Hopefully, Aoi didn't write anything that wasn't meant for the eyes of young children! "Why else would she know about this hero guy?" What was fiction, anyway, right? Everything had to be based on a true story! "What if Auntie left this out so you would see? What if she needs our help because she couldn't find him?" Yes, Aoi definitely wanted to encourage such a thing. It must be!
Juni and Michi were top-tier spies, after all! They were heroines already! And, frankly, Juni's mom was, like, old as dirt or something. There's no way she would be fit for the task of saving anyone from monsters! "Where do you think he is? We gotta find him 'fore he gets hurt!"
Well, nobody ever tried to claim that Michi was a more sensible child than Juni. All fairy-tales were real, after all! And, she still believed in the toothfairy. What was another fantasy to add on top of it? This totally seemed logical!

It was no surprise that both girls’ mindsets were one and the same, considering that they had pretty much been raised alongside the other! Juni looked at the manuscript one last time, then at Michi, then at the insides of her backpack; after scooping up more candy and stuffing her mouth with their unwrapped version, she stared at Michi again. In truth, the manga was meant as a children’s story, so there wasn’t much to unsee thankfully. Maybe the heroine’s outfit was a wee bit questionable for a girl her age, but definitely nothing scandalous. Maybe a way to subtly appear to a very specific demographic? Truly no way to know, in all frankness.
However, that was merely a footnote in the grand scheme of things. Juni’s dad was in danger, and only Michi and her could save him. Thus, the child armed herself with valor before she stood up and made a fist in an attempt of a dramatic pose. “Let’s do it. Daddy’s countin’ on us!”
Truest words had never been spoken in the whole history of humanity. Juni had known her dad was in a secret mission of sorts all this time, and now was her time to make her contribution towards world peace. She then proceeded to walk until she was exactly in front of Mister Sharkat. “Mister Sharkat, you gotta take care of Michi’s room while we’re outside, got it?” Some moments passed for, with obviously no response from the plush. The girl, however, nodded at him. “Good.”
Once that was taken care of, the small brunette turned to face her cousin. “The manga says he’s lost in a enchanted forest or somethin’ like that.” She explained. “Think he’s in the forest? We gotta go there.”
The trip, by sound alone sounded pretty dangerous. Sure, one thing was walking down the street to reach your bestie’s home, but another, very different one, was for two very young children to head on their own to Shibuki Forest. Whether that was a good idea or not didn’t matter, though. At least outwardly, Juni seemed to be bent on helping her parent.

Michi took several more handfuls of candy, while thinking of the best course of action. Of course, they'd need to get sticks for weapons once they got outside. But before that? She needed a backpack of essentials, too! Scrambling to her feet, the candy-hungry child leaned into a pile of plushies, digging through them for what she needed. There was an occasional apology given to a stuffed animal, as it either toppled over, or was outright flung across the bedroom. The plushes would surely forgive her in the long run, after all! This was a very important mission!
And important missions needed important items! Finally, the brunette would extract a fat looking raccoon plush from her mountain, tugging on it to loosen backpack straps, and then unzipping its belly to be able to fill with contents. "What kinda stuff do you think we need?" The manuscript definitely, but that would be in Juni's bag! Along with the candies!
Grabbing a baseball-sized cat plushy, the girl stuffed it into her raccoon bag (for good luck), before scouting the bedroom for anything else that might be important. While she grabbed a couple of [non]essentials, she'd also make sure to snag anything that Juni suggested as well! And, to top things off? The child would stretch up onto a shelf to pull down what was very clearly a magical wand, with a star on the top of course! Everyone knew that magic was the best defense against monsters!
Especially when enchanted forests were involved.
They had a very important job to do, and Mister Sharkat had his own task! If only he could raise his fake onesie paws to salute the tiny girls, to let them know that he would do the best job a sharkat could do! But, he still couldn't. Maybe someday. But ultimately, probably never. It was hard to be incognito, and any movement might let on that this shark was indeed a shark, and not actually a cat! Even though his name totally gave that away, anyway.
Sometimes, Michi liked to pretend that Mister Sharkat (and most other plushies) that their own internal monologue running when she and Juni spoke with them. There was no way that they were just inanimate objects!
"Okay! I think we're ready! Superhero Juni! Are you prepared? This mission is crucial!" What did 'crucial' mean? Well, Michi actually didn't know! But she heard it on TV once and it sounded pretty cool. So, she was using her 'stern' voice for it and everything, like a bigshot mission-giver in the movies would!
Except, every mission needed a hiccup. This one felt way too early in the 'movie,' though! The telltale sign that something was about to go south?
There was a clink of a ring hitting Michi's bedroom door handle, from outside of the room. Blue eyes shot to Juni with a panicked expression rushing onto her face. Could Juni hide? Were they already busted?
They'd be lucky if they weren't, considering the handle was already turning, and it would surely open within the next few seconds!

One could say that two young girls that just happened to the encourage and support the other’s decidedly questionable ideas without a voice of reason present wasn’t going to end well. And that would be right, but it wasn’t like that mattered at the moment.
Undoubtedly, what mattered the most at the moment was Michi’s question. Did the girls need anything else at the moment? “The heroine used an… uhh.” Juni peered at the manuscript once again because the word was hard and she had totally not forgotten about it. “Skeleton key…? Whatever that is! Do we have anythin’ like that, Michi?” Did they, really? Did they even know what was that? No way to know, really. “And a magic wand! I’m sure we have those.”
While Michi already knew where to get hers, Juni would... have to borrow it from mister magical rabbit, which was a pretty self-explanatory plushie. With any luck, he wouldn’t mind it! Quite hastily, the small brunette began to repack all her items, but not before taking another handful of candies.
Truth to be told, Juni didn’t know what crucial meant either, but she did the same thing that the person on the TV did when they were told that. And that was to salute. What did saluting mean? She didn’t know as well. But it probably made the mission more important. “Let’s go, Superhero Michi!”
Except that, maybe the duo wouldn’t be able to go out, at least for now. A pretty unexpected hiccup would force the girl to think fast! Almost recklessly, the girl threw her bag from her back to the floor and dived directly under Michi’s bed! She had learned her lesson the last time; since she still had her backpack on last time she had attempted this, she had gotten stuck and couldn’t properly hide. But now? Now it’d work without fail! Except that whoever entered would probably notice a backpack laying on the floor. A backpack that clearly wasn’t their daughter’s.
