Honoka grasped Hachi's hand as he offered it, helping her get onto the train. She nodded her thanks to him, still unsure whether what she just did was a dumb thing, or a... very dumb thing. She was kind of surprised of the interior of the train. Unlike most of the trains in Shibuya station it looked like a comfortable ride. There were actually available seats for one.
As soon as she finished her nervous greeting she immediately regretted it. Who greets a bunch of strangers on a train!? As she got a closer look at the other passengers she began to realize something. They all looked so strange, yet each one of them looked like they were doing something perfectly normal. Though... Honoka wondered how tough that baby creature had to be to tolerate being held by a cactus creature. It definitely looked like it would be painful. Another creature looked like he belonged in some kind of fantasy video game, while the third creature was just a pile of rocks. Rocks that vaguely resembled a humanoid shape.
But each of them didn't seem to pay them any mind, like an occasional dumb teenager wasn't out of the ordinary for any of them. She watched Hachi take an empty seat and sat next to him. They were just supposed to... wait for the train to get to its destination, right? That was almost normal. Honoka thought she could handle almost normal. She just needed to grasp something remotely normal. She turned to the teenage boy beside her.
But... was there anything normal about this boy? He was an affluent yet laid-back young man. Practically the opposite of the destitute, over-achieving girl. Yet here they were in the same place.
"So... what kind of music do you listen to...?" She asked in a desperate attempt to connect with the strange boy.

Hachi faced Honoka when she asked what type of music he liked to listen to. "Hm, can't really say I listen to much music. But if I were to, I suppose I'd like something with a slow yet catchy tune. I don't know much about music other than that..."
It wasn't long before the child that the cactus was holding began to wake up from their nap. The first thing this child laid its eyes on were the two humans that had just entered. Its eyes widened. "Mama, look! Those are humans, aren't they, Mama?"
"Indeed they are, Tanemon, now hush child, you don't want to disturb them do you?" The cactus Digimon told her child. She had a feminine voice, which is a voice you wouldn't expect from a Digimon like this one.
"Oh it's fine," Hachi would tell the mother, "Hey, by any chance do you know where this train is taking us?"
"Eh?" The cactus asked, looking confused. "Don't humans know about the Trailmons to the Digital World?"
"Digital... World..." Hachi repeated, rubbing his chin. "A world entirely made of data? Does that mean Digimon are data as well?"
"Give the genius a trophy, he's gone figured it out," the humanoid rock Digimon said in a sarcastic tone.
"There was no need to be so rude, the human was merely asking a question," The wizard shot back at at the rock Digimon. He turned around to face the humans. "My name is Wizardmon. And what are your names?"

"I-I see..." Was all Honoka could answer to Hachi's question. Yep. They definitely didn't have anything in common. Then the baby Digimon woke up and she heard the cactus Digimon speak. It was strange that a cactus was speaking, but she supposed that it was also weird for a cactus to be wearing gloves and holding a baby, after all. Instead, she gave the baby Digimon a wave. Tanemon was its name, apparently.
"That's okay..." She said, forcing a smile. "This is our first time taking this particular train, so..." Hachi asked where the train was going, and after the cactus Digimon replied, he seemed to figure some things out that Honoka didn't quite comprehend. "Digital World? Data?" The rock Digimon said something snarky to Hachi, upsetting the girl. He was just asking a question, after all! But before she could lecture the rock Digimon, the wizard creature spoke up, then introducing itself as Wizardmon. It was definitely strange-looking, but it seemed relatively polite.
"Ah! I'm Honoka! Nijimura Honoka!" She stated, standing up and giving a proper bow to the point-hatted Digimon. "Like I said before, it's our first time on this train, and... we just happened to stumble onto this train by accident." She pulled out her pink device and held it up. "This... train pass thing... kind of showed up out of the blue and we decided to see where it took us..."
She didn't want to mention the part about following a ghost to get here. She didn't want to sound crazy, after all!

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Nijimura Honoka," The Wizardmon politely said to the young girl. He turned his head to face Hachi. "And your name is?"
"Ah, I'm Hachi Zaan. It's a pleasure to meet you as well."
"Why in the name of Yggdrasil would you talk to them, ya scarecrow-mouth?" The rock Digimon bitterly asked. "Did you forget that they're the ones who come to our world and change everything?! We're lucky that SOME cities have common sense and ban humans from them!"
"Human or Digimon, everyone deserves to be treated right," Wizardmon calmly said. He would then take out his wand and point it at the rock monster. "And those who treat others poorly should get their just desserts." The rock monster gulped before turning his head away from everyone.
Wizardmon put his wand back in his pocket and faced the humans again. "Not all Digimon are like that. There are a considerable amount that discriminate against humans, but many others also seek unity between our two worlds." Wizardmon then listened to Honoka's story, saying they just stumbled onto this train by accident. She would then pull out her device, which Wizardmon took to examine. "Hachi... do you have a device like this as well?"
"Of course," Hachi responded, taking out his own device to show the Wizardmon as well.
Wizardmon handed the pink device back to Honoka before speaking once more. "Humans who receive Digivices like yours are known to hold a great amount of power. Some channel their energy into a Digimon they've bonded with. Others command a whole squadron of Digimon that fuse together into one entity. And then there are others... that turn into Digimon!"

They finished their introductions, and the rock Digimon spoke up once again. He clearly had some kind of issue with them, and Honoka couldn't for the life of her figure it out. But issues or not, that wasn't how you treated people. But Wizarmon apparently took offense to his words, as he pulled out his wand as some sort of threat. Whatever that threat was, it was enough to make the rock Digimon back down, and Honoka was slightly bothered by it.
"It's okay, really..." Honoka said as Wizarmon examined her Digivice. When she got it back, Wizarmon began to explain what exactly they were. And their different abilities. Stuff about bonding, and armies, and... transforming? There were people that transformed into Digimon? She wondered what that would feel like. Still, Honoka couldn't ignore what was bothering her.
"I'm sorry, Wizardmon-san, I really appreciate that you're explaining things since we don't know... pretty much anything about... any of this..." She couldn't help but fidget around her Digivice in her hands. "But I don't think you should threaten people that way..." She pointed to his pocket with his wand, then moved over towards the rock Digimon, giving him a polite bow.
"I'm very sorry if I offended you," She offered the Digimon her hand to shake. "You probably have already heard us introduce ourselves already, but my name is Honoka, and my..." She glanced towards Hachi. What was she supposed to call a strange boy she had nothing in common with, and met on the same day? "My friend is named Hachi. May I ask your name?"
In addition to her hand, Honoka offered the hostile rock Digimon a warm smile.

"Transforming... into Digimon...?" Hachi asked for clarification. His usual smile was now on full power. "That's incredible! Do you know how it fully works, Wizardmon?"
"Unfortunately I do not know everything," Wizardmon said, "But I am sure that you both will find the answer to the questions you are seeking."
Honoka then spoke up to Wizardmon, saying that she didn't think it was right for him to "threaten" the rock Digimon in the way that he had. In response, Wizardmon chuckled. "Hohoho... there is still plenty that you have yet to learn about our world, Honoka."
The girl tried to communicate with the rock Digimon some more, introducing herself and Hachi once again. Hachi was unsure of this however; that guy really seems to be set in his ways, and he didn't want to irritate him anymore than he already was by that point. "Um, Honoka..."
She held her hand out to shake the Digimon's hand. Ohhh, the ways that Digimon truly wanted to show the human just exactly what he thought of humans. But all of a sudden, a voice came from what would presumably be the intercoms: "Just a quick reminder to all that are aboard Trailmon Grey: I do not tolerate physical violence. If any fights start I will personally kick all of those involved off of me. Thank you, and have a great ride!"
With that announcement the rock Digimon simply growled and left to another car. Wizardmon sighed. "Thank goodness the Trailmon made that announcement. Right on time, too."
"The way the conductor talked... it sounded like he himself was the train."
"That's because he is. Trailmon is a Digimon, and we're riding him right now."

The rock Digimon didn't take Honoka's hand. Instead, a voice came over the intercom and strongly urged the passengers not to commit acts of violence, for some reason. Then, the rock Digimon simply ignored the girl, and moved to another car. Honoka gave a disappointed sigh. She still didn't learn the rock Digimon's name. Wizarmon spoke up about her naivete and she looked back at him with a frown.
"You said that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, Wizardmon-san. But going around threatening people won't lead people to respect. You'll only make people scared of you!" Her frown turned into a smile. "He didn't seem to like humans, so all I wanted to do was make sure he was treated like a-" She was going to say "human being", but that wouldn't be necessarily accurate, would it? "A person. If he meets one or two humans that he likes, then won't that start to change his views?"
Then she heard Wizarmon mention something about the train itself being a Digimon named Trailmon. "There are Digimon like that, too!? That's..." She wanted to say crazy, but everything was sort of crazy. How was this any different? Then she realized something. "Oh no! I'm sorry, Trailmon-san... Umm... Uh... Thank you for letting us ride y-... Umm... letting us be passengers!"

The Wizardmon crossed his arms and lowered his head in response to Honoka's speech. "Honoka, humans and Digimon are alike in so many ways, and different in many others. Everyone should be treated with respect, but there are those that don't deserve it. Trust me, if I hadn't pulled out my wand or if Trailmon didn't make that announcement, you would've been mighty hurt."
"Honoka, I don't think you would've been able to change his mind like that," Hachi said. "That Digimon clearly has a deep hatred for us, you weren't going to be able to get through to him."
"Only you yourself can change your own perception of the world."
The Trailmon laughed when Honoka began thanking him for letting the humans be passengers. "It's my job, human girl, no need to thank me! And you can call me Grey!"
The moment had come. The Trailmon has finally left the tunnel, flooding the inside with sunlight. Looking out the window, Hachi smiled. "You're gonna wanna check out this view, Honoka."
Looking outside of the window would reveal a beautiful sight. Lush green grass, tall and healthy trees, a clear blue sky with barely any clouds, and even a river, with a forest on the other side. Many different types of Digimon were scattered about, with a small flock of pink bird Digimon with red beaks flying alongside the Trailmon.

"And who's the one who decides who doesn't deserve respect, Wizardmon-san?" Honoka replied, standing defiantly with her hands on her hips. She heard Hachi's comment about not being able to get through to the rock Digimon. "If we just dismiss people as unable to change, then no one ever will!" She tried to find a way to properly explain it, but the only analogies she could think of were about flowers, for reason. Stupid flower ghost. "Think of it like this; if you plant a single flower on an ugly heart, it's still ugly, right? But if everyone else plants a flower, then eventually even the ugliest heart can be beautiful!"
When Wizardmon pointed how close she could have come to getting hurt, however, Honoka wasn't threatened. "But you don't have to worry about me, Wizardmon-san!" She proudly proclaimed. "I may not look like it, but I'm really quick! I've run away from a bunch of scary people, like delinquents, yakuza, and online stalkers ever since I was in junior high!"
She heard the Trailmon laugh and introduce himself. Honoka still thought it was weird that she was talking to a train, but... Well, at least the Trailmon was friendly! "Oh, but I just wanted to thank you, regardless! And you can call me Honoka, Grey-san!"
Then Hachi beckoned Honoka over after Grey had passed through the tunnel. And immediately all discussions of moral philosophy had washed away with the beautiful sight. A beaming smile shone from her face as her eyes sparkled with the wondrous view. "This is the Digital World? It's... so beautiful!" She waved at the pink birds flying along side Grey.

"If you don't mind, I wish to not have to hear your discussion anymore," the cactus Digimon said, "it's making me rather upset. There's enough discourse about humans and Digimon fighting each other as it is."
"My apologies, Togemon," Wizardmon said to the Togemon mother. He listened as Honoka bragged about being able to run away from delinquents, yakuza and online internet stalkers. Wizardmon sweatdropped. "If I may ask... what exactly are yakuza?"
"Living dangerously, I see," Hachi joked. "I think I sorta remember you... you get chased out of the school a lot by said delinquents, don't you?"
It truly was a wonder of what the beauty of nature can do to lighten a mood. Honoka expressed how beautiful the Digital World was, waving towards the flying bird Digimon. Unfortunately they did not see her waving, so they simply took off, leaving the Trailmon behind.
"To think that all this time, a world like this existed... and it's all digital! My dad's gonna freak when I tell him!" Then Hachi began to process that thought more. "...on second thought he can never know about any of this."
After around ten to twenty more minutes, the Trailmon approached a small city located within the forest. It was magnificent, it was modern but not at the same time, like some sort of fantasy. Grey docked at the station there, and all the passengers began to exit the train, Wizardmon included. "I know we got off on the wrong foot, Honoka, but I know Rosewood like the back of my cape. I can give you two a tour, if you desire."

Though she was still stunned by the view, Honoka snapped out of it when the Togemon voiced her complaints. She looked away from the pink bird Digimon to bow in apology to the Togemon and her child, then resumed her Digital bird-watching. Unfortunately, it seemed like the birds had flown away without even noticing her. Disappointed, she turned back towards Hachi and Wizardmon.
"Ah, well... a yakuza is basically a criminal part of a big organization..." She tried to explain. She supposed a Digimon wouldn't know what they were. Then Hachi made her comment to Honoka. "What? Of course not! I just try and tell off the delinquents hanging around my neighborhood, is all! If there's ever delinquents at school I just tell the nearest teacher! I can't get in trouble in school!"
She then heard Hachi mention telling his father about the Digital World, and she nodded. "Yeah, I don't think anyone would believe us even if we did tell people..." She couldn't even imagine how she was going to explain how her day went to her own father, or to Eiji or Naoki.
Wizardmon had attempted to mend things with Honoka, and she nodded towards the Digimon. "But it's okay, Wizardmon-san! Even if it was in a way I didn't necessarily like, you still helped us out. So, thank you! We would love a tour!" She turned towards Hachi and stared at him with excited eyes. "Isn't that right, Hachi-san?"

Wizardmon immediately understood what Honoka was talking about when she described what a yakuza was. "Ah, I see... unfortunately there are plenty of Digimon criminals in this world as well. But it's not like there's much one can do about it."
When the Trailmon stopped and Wizardmon offered Hachi and Honoka a tour, the latter gleefully accepted, asking for Hachi's opinion on the matter as well. "Yeah, definitely. I know Tokyo like the back of my hand, but not anywhere else, sadly."
Hachi followed the Wizardmon off the Trailmon and onto the platform itself. The city that the two were in was the city of Rosewood, a newly built city that was now the capital of the Eastern Timberlands. It was as if the city itself was at one with nature, unlike most cities that destroyed surrounding nature to make way for the buildings and pavement. "Gotta admit, seeing a nature city was something I didn't think as possible."
Wizardmon turned back to look at Hachi as he kept walking. "That's Rosewood for you. There are many cities in the Digital World, but in my opinion none of them are as distinct as this one. Here you'll be among nature but still have access to the comforts of a modern city."

Honoka nodded when Wizardmon mentioned something about Digimon criminals. Still, him admitting that meant a majority of Digimon were good, right? Sure they all looked weird, just take a look at Wizardmon - He was a kind and patient person; he would probably make a good schoolteacher. But if he were judged by his appearance alone, most schools wouldn't even think of hiring someone so strange-looking.
Honoka nodded to Hachi. "Yeah, Tokyo has so much, that I never really had any reason to leave. It kind of makes me forget that there's so much more to the world out there..." But Honoka was certain that even the rest of the world combined may not even compare to this. Smaller Digimon of all shapes and sizes went about their day nonplussed by the two teenagers gawking at their town. Some lived in tree-houses, while other Digimon straight-up lived in a tree with furniture hanging off onto the branches somehow. Wood, stone, and dirt were all around her while there wasn't a trace of cement or asphalt.
To the young woman that grew up in the slums, it was too beautiful for words. All of a sudden Honoka felt like she was eight years old again. She couldn't help but twirl around and around, in a silly attempt to take in all the sights around her at once. Eventually she got dizzy and fell down on her back, landing in a patch of grass, giggling uncontrollably. She looked off to her side to see a single flower bud sticking out of the patch. It looked... so genuine to her.
"Hachi-san, Wizardmon-san..." Honoka sat up in the patch of grass, staring at a single flower bud. "You were saying that this world is Digital... That means that it's like video game stuff, right? But everything is so... real..." She pointed towards the flower. "If someone were to uproot that flower bud and let it grow in the real world, would it still grow like normal?" She suddenly felt self-conscious as she was worried they would misunderstand. "Not that I was going to do that! I wouldn't ever disturb such a beautiful sight like this!"

This city was indeed beautiful. Hachi had not grown up in the slums like Honoka, he was mostly raised in a fancy penthouse, but that didn't mean that the city's beauty did not have an effect on him, because it most certainly did. He observed the various types of Digimon that were simply working or living their lives, having conversations with each other, bartering... it wasn't something one could easily describe.
Honoka was almost letting the city's view control her, since she started spinning around and around, seemingly trying to look at everything at once. Eventually she completely fell over backwards, causing both Hachi and Wizardmon to laugh along with her. "What were you trying to do? Become Wonder Woman?" Hachi jokingly asked.
The teenage girl looked at a flower that was growing, asking more about the Digital World. She asked if everything actually is data, since it was all so real-looking. "Indeed. Everything in the Digital World is compiled of data..." Wizardmon then sweatdropped. "However, I do not know what you mean by 'video game stuff'."
"It's a human world thing. Teams of people create little digital worlds of their own for people to control an avatar inside of from the comfort of the human world. However it's all scripted, the inhabitants of those worlds only do what the script tells them. I don't think it's anything like that here."
Honoka then asked an interesting question. If a Digital World plant was taken to the human world, would it still grow like normal? "That... is something I never thought of before. I don't imagine that that specific flower belongs to anyone, but to be safe you should buy some seeds here and plant them back in your world. I would be interested in seeing the results."
"Yeah, same here. This Digital World is pretty interesting..."

Honoka couldn't help but laugh at Hachi's jest. "I wish! If I had Wonder Woman's strength, then the uneven bars would be a breeze!" She pondered thoughtfully for a second. "Well, I suppose any event would become trivial... But I'd be able to put on one heck of a show!" She stood up and patted the dirt off her backside as Hachi explained "video game stuff" to Wizardmon.
Honoka didn't quite understand most of what the boy was talking about, but she supposed it couldn't be helped. Despite her youth, the girl was woefully inept with technology, so much so that most of her phone's functions were beyond her. She didn't even know how to change from the default ringtone! Still, she thought she could understand just a little bit of it.
"Well... I thought that... we all became video game characters or something by becoming Digital, but I guess I don't really feel any different..." She said, feeling her heartbeat and pinching her arm. Yep. Still felt real. Then she nodded to Wizardmon as he offered her his advice as well as his curiosity.
"I'd like to... but I don't really have any money on me right now..."
