Silence gave a small but warm smile to amber, giving them a small pat on the head. It was nothing bad; that’s what the look meant to say. But she’d probably read it differently. The shutmon leaned against the counter and stared at mikemon as he sighed.
”If it had been bad I’m pretty sure amber would have been very forward about it.”
Silence’s eyes flicked to the living room, say what you wanted about the twins they were forward when actual problems reared their heads. Not that this wasn’t an actual problem, the comfort and safety of their daughters was paramount to the shutmon.
Hearing that next bit? Silence rubbed at her chin; she had severe social anxiety? The shutmon knew how scary new people could be and dealing with more than one person for a length of time… Her ears flicked a few times as she recalled syre’s first meeting, holly’s first meeting and… even stingmon. She’d click her teeth a bit and she’d start fiddling with the kettle.
”Well. The best we can do is try to introduce her to people; friendly and happy folk. I know only a handful of people unfortunately. But I think someone absolutely harmless and cheerful could help. Then someone stern but kind… Hmm. Then someone that takes a bit of getting used to…”
Silence mulled it over; she knew the last one for sure but the other two? She had already met someone pretty much harmless right? Stern. Well. She knew a few angels but she didn’t think that oathgard was someone she wanted to introduce to her daughter quite yet.
Iko was definitely the last one.
She’d mess around in the kitchen a bit; mulling over potential individuals. They had to slowly work with coal on this so she’d offer some kindles of advice on this matter. She knew how shy some people could be…
Meanwhile?
Coal eventually worked up the nerve to come out of her room and sat on the same cushion as her sister; leaning up against them so she could watch them draw. She stayed mostly quiet and for the most part was there for support. Supporting herself and her sister; she was curious about what they were drawing and out of everyone in the house amber was the one that made her feel the most calm for some reason…
”...That ones called Examon. A… royal knight. Why did ma draw that?”

"Honestly, its a tricky problem..."
Mikemon sighed, mulling it over in his head. There were a number of potential answers that he had started to brew: "Introduce her to people, sign her up for therapy, try signing her up for a summer camp... or just bringing her out to town more often for more errands, so she can try and get used to people."
There wasn't any sort of clear-cut answer, and really, Mikemon wasn't that kind of doctor. Opening up the fridge, Mikemon would pull out a plastic, single-serving size bottle of milk, and would cross his arms as he thought it over. "Well, if you want to try introducing her to someone friendly and happy, we could try Calumon? Or, heck, maybe even Stingmon, though that might be a bit of a hard sell..."
He shook his head. This was something they could discuss all day, without any sort of solid plan.
"How's Amber?" "Hm?"
Amber, seeing Coal sit down next to her, would give a smile and would scoot over a bit, to let Coal watch her sister draw. This was nice: Amber liked having her sister as an audience, and it motivated her to try and draw as best she could. Slowly, the visage of a dragon would almost come to life on the page, and as Coal asked the question, Amber gave a shrug, moving for the colored pencils:
"Don't know." Amber took out a red, and started with a thick, dark hue near the edge of the wings. "Apparently its a lot of stuff she saw in a past life, and drew it into the journal - she doesn't even know why half the stuff's there, honestly. And I dunno if I'd want to meet such a big dragon 'in person', ya'know?"

”But it’s a problem we need to address one way or another. Tch. I wish I could help her more actively.”
Silence stared out of the kitchen and flicked an ear as mikemon had a few suggestions. Therapy felt like something they should try if all else fails. She couldn’t imagine coal being comfortable with a summer camp if she froze up just from going out…
”Town yes. Not therapy or summer camp just yet. She froze up from just going to the store. Do you really think it’s wise to take away what she thinks is a safe space and take her to a place she is constantly surrounded by people? And therapy is for if we can’t actively do more. Call it a last ditch effort to help her rather than the first thing we should do.”
Silence firmly believed that coal wouldn’t respond well to someone trying to break her down either. Not to mention finding one in these times were probably difficult right? She’d raise a brow as he went to get one of the bottles of milk.
”Calumon? Can’t say I know him. But why not? Is he busy? I think for stingmon if he came equipped with a game or something she might be more for it. From what I’ve noticed she intently watches holly and syre play games together so…”
Silence ended up with a grin on her face at mikemon asking that last question about amber.
”She’s good, bit worried for her sister. She’s taking after me it seems with the art. Would be nice to have someone to chat up about artwork honestly.”
Coal smiled somewhat tiredly and stared down at the examon. The creature looked so lifelike, like you could just reach out and touch them. Heck coal could probably do just that… She’d slowly reach out and that exact same thing would slowly creep out of the table. It wasn’t entirely accurate but it definitely had the shape down based on what amber had on the page!
”Mm… I don’t think I’d mind it too much if they were friendly. Think ma can turn into it too? Even if she’s just going around as a wolf most of the time…”
Coal mulled quietly over this and glanced towards the kitchen. She could hear silence chuckling from the other room and managed a small sigh.
”...I think… Next time you guys go shopping I’m just gonna stay home. But I need to figure out something I like doing. I’m not good at art like you sis… maybe they’d be okay with me picking up meditating…?”

"Hm... I see what you mean about summer camp, but I don't know if we should write off a therapist that easily. Maybe it shouldn't be the first thing that we try, but... well, Holly had one for a while, and it did manage to help her out."
He gave a shrug at that. Clearly, this was something the two were going to have to discuss a bit more, though showing Coal around town a bit more seemed like a decent idea. "If nothing else, I want her to see all of Snowpoint as her home. It'll be good to get a little support network for her going, anyway... hm? You haven't met Calumon?"
The feline tilted his head at that. "Well... granted, he's usually with Stingmon or doing his own thing, but he does work with me. As much a 'teddy bear' as he is, he's still good at working with patients and healing small things." It was an idea, at the very least... and hearing about Amber, Mikemon gave a smirk. "Sheesh, she took right after you, didn't she? Well, for now, let's not keep the two of 'em waiting too long..." "Hm?"
Well, that was interesting! Amber looked down, seeing the mini-Examon-shadow walking on the table! The Renamon-X would give it a curious poke at the chest, seeing her finger sink right through the scales of the dragon.
"Wait, really?" Her ear gave a flick at that, looking at Coal from the corner of her eye. "... Dragons, really? You freeze up if a little snowman Digimon is looking at you, but you're fine around big ol' dragons?"
Amber gave a slight nervous chuckle at that - maybe Coal just had her sense of fear reversed, or something? Hearing that Coal might stay home next time, Amber gave a small shrug. "Meditating? Like... sitting around, but very still? I mean..." She flipped through Silence's book, carefully, seeing several images of a Renamon sitting calmly in the woods.
"It might be something ma's familiar with, but it also sounds like... I dunno, a lot of nothing?"
"Well, I don't know about that." Mikemon chuckled, as Amber sat up with a start, as the shorter Mikemon spoke up. He stepped up to Coal, offering her the bottle of milk, and gave a smile. "I see you've calmed down a bit? How are you feelin', hun?"

”Hmm. Then maybe we could talk to the therapist if they worked with holly? Might be able to make coal more comfortable knowing that they’ve already helped one of her family members.”
Silence rubbed at her chin; there was many an option in regards to how to deal with this. She just wanted to make sure that coal was comfortable and was taken care of. She’d blink a bit and nodded her head at that last question. It wasn’t a surprise really; maybe she had met him in another form? But… then again what did calumons even evolve into?
”I’ve heard of him but I haven’t met him no.”
Hearing that he was good with patients the shutmon figured that out of everyone she should meet… Calumon should be the first! Maybe he’d be able to help her out and then they could ease coal into therapy?
”Then I’d like for coal to meet him if he’s good with patients. I feel like a gentle hand here is required.”
The shutmon grinned ear to ear and after a moment would give the mikemon a half armed hug with a kiss to the top of his head.
”Yeah she did. Kinda like how holly took after you from what I’ve heard. But yeah, they’ll wonder where we’re at...”
The little examon shadow looked up at the renamon-x; quirking it’s head as it was poked before slowly fading back into the table. Coal rubbed at her neck and managed an odd smile at that.
”Well… they have to be careful around the little people right…? Not like they’d be violent or what not all the time…”
Coal rubbed her nose somewhat sheepishly and seeing those images of the renamon sitting calmly in the woods made her wonder. What was all of this? She’d reach slowly to take a look at it; they didn’t have the markings ma’ had and there was something about these that made her feel… strange.
”Maybe? I- Oh! Hi da.”
The renamon-x returned that smile somewhat enrvously and took the bottle of milk, popping off the cap and setting it to one side a good bit away from the artwork going on. She’d take a small sip and wiggle her ears a bit.
”I’m… feeling better. Just a little uncertain I guess?”
”Well it’s good to see you out of your room after all of that.”
Silence commented before taking a seat across from them all; she’d be sporting her own drink that she picked out on the way out of the kitchen. Just some water for now it seemed! Maybe she was thirsty?
”What is… with the drawings of this mon in the forest ma? Is that you?”
”Those? Oh. No that’s not me. Something from a dream. A lot of what’s in there are from dreams of mine.”
The shutmon wasn’t sure she wanted to tell the two about the reincarnation cycles or the like. They were a bit young still to learn about that she felt.

The two had a plan. And, plucked briefly up into Silence's arms, he nuzzled right up to the Shutmon's neck as he felt that kiss. "Mm... I hear them talking in the living area, so..."
Yup, they weren't hard to find! Amber's small 'jump' turned into a chuckle, the yellow fox shaking her head as she returned to her drawing. This one was turning into a bit more of a 'complete' effort than the sketch of a Mikemon, as Amber had already started to move onto using the reds and grays to detail the wings. Silence would even see test lines off to the side, as Amber carefully pressed firmly or softly with each pencil to test the texture and the vibrancy of the color. To Mikemon, it would have just looked like odd 'marks' off on the end, but Silence would likely notice the amount of care her daughter was putting into this.
As for the fox on the open page of the journal? Mikemon thought about explaining who K was, but hearing Silence's more vague answer, just decided to follow along with a nod. It was a story that they would have to tell at some point, but now, with Coal as she was, it probably wasn't the best time.
Instead, he'd sit down next to Coal. "I guess I should ask, how are the goggles and glasses working out for you? Are they fogging up at all in the cold?" Mikemon gave a smile: "Admittedly, I don't work a lot with this sort of stuff, so I just have to trust the 'mons who can actually make the glasses and stuff like that."

”Shouldn’t leave them alone for too much longer…”
Silence chuckled a bit and the shutmon would lean to look at the sketch that amber had been doing while they had been away. She recognized the form rather easily and her eyes would roll along the outsides of the ‘form’. Amber was really taking a lot of steps the shutmon wasn’t expecting for this! She’d grin a little bit and leaned forward; her hands resting on either of her knees while she watched.
The answer to that question would be difficult; it’d be one that they’d also end up having to learn eventually. How their mother was a second iteration and the former had been a vastly powerful individual that even now was still making waves somehow. It was kind of an interesting prospect and the shutmon wasn’t sure how to address it entirely herself.
Coal would look to her father and blink a bit as he asked about those goggles and glasses! She’d tap at the glasses and manage a small smile to her father. They were working well enough she felt; there were some things she had to get used to with each though!
”They’re working okay I think. Sometimes the goggles fog up a bit and the glasses make me have to turn my head a lot but that was something to be expected right…?”
She’d tilt her head; so her father hadn’t been the one to make these like she originally had thought? That made more sense to her now that she really thought about it!
”Well they did a good job for probably something weird like this... ”
Coal mused and rubbed at her neck; she wasn’t sure what to say to her parents about all of this still. She was nervous still and she wasn’t sure when that would go away. Silence’s ears flicked and then shutmon gazed quietly between her two kids. What was something they all could do… or was it better to just leave these two to their own devices? Maybe the shutmon should think about picking up a book for coal…
”So… what sort of stuff do you work with then Da? I know ma is a fighter and you’re a doctor but there’s a lot of different kinds of doctors right?”

It wasn't just the habits that Amber had taken to, but also the focus! The Renamon did spare Silence a glance and a smile, but Amber didn't seem to make any more mistakes than she would have done if she didn't have someone watching her. Slowly, the dragon on the page almost seemed to spring to life, the color helping the sketch start to pop and catch the eye.
... This was something that Amber really enjoyed doing, and it was easy to tell just by watching. Her tails flicked, her eyes narrowed and focused, and her hands carefully moved to make sure that every line and every bit of color was added with care. It was enough to bring a smile to Amber's face, and Mikemon would find one on his own.
"... Hm, maybe I'll see if they can make one with a vent..." He gave a short nod to Coal's comments. They seemed easy enough to correct in the next draft - and hearing that it was something 'weird'? "Its not as weird as you think - the type of filter is just different." Mikemon chuckled! "If you're around Snowflake for long enough, you'll see a lot of Digimon wearing orange goggles. Its because the sun reflects bright off the snow underneath them, and they need a special lens to keep from blinding and damaging their eyes. Its pretty much the same as that, just that your lenses are rose-colored instead of orange."
Maybe Coal would be interested in something like that? The next question was also a bit fun for him to answer!
"Primarily, I'm a data specialist - but up here in the mountains, I'm also sort of a general doctor. For the second part, I help to patch people up who get banged up in the hills, slip on the ice, stuff like that. For my specialty, I help people stabilize their data, work with their spirit totems... um, it gets pretty 'abstract', I guess, but I do a lot of research into cores and that sort of thing..."

Silence gave her daughter a grin and watched from her spot as amber drew; she certainly had picked up the knack of drawing from silence that was for sure! The shutmon was content to watch and flicked her ears to one side as mikemon spoke with coal.
Coal on the otherhand adjusted her glasses and looked to her father; it wasn’t that weird? She looked a little uncertain there but hearing his explanation about the varied goggles around snowflake she had to agree that it was probably normal! She thought that these required an advanced prescription or something.
”Isn’t there a saying about rose colored glasses or something… Heh. I spose in this case it’s quite literal…”
Coal chuckled a bit and leaned forward just a bit, looking a little more relaxed. She’d sip at that milk and flick her ears as mikemon continued. She was interested in hearing more about both subjects but wasn’t certain what to ask about.
So her father was a data specialist but up here he was more of a general doctor. It was basic work but he also was able to work with their data, spirit totems and cores. She’d furrow her brow a bit and tap at her glasses with a finger.
”So that’s why you were so certain of what to do with the goggles n glasses. Did you have that sort of trouble when you were a kid da?”
Silence raised her brows and shifted her gaze to the mikemon. Now that was a question she didn’t even consider. In fact now that she thought about it she had never underwent one of his examinations… Which probably was a good thing. Coal on the other hand was firmly intrigued and leaned towards her father.
”What sort of stuff have you done the most with? And before moving up here you were out of some library right? Though holly said something about whitewater but...”
Coal rubbed at her chin and she looked actually kind of pensive for a moment. She was curious but maybe to not the same extreme that holly had been. The younger mon had a few questions and they’d all pertain to the subject rather than arcing off to others.

Huh - where had Coal heard that one?
Mikemon tilted his head at Coal's first remark. "Um... oh, yeah, yeah, there is a saying, about 'rose-tinted glasses'. It means that you see those closer to you in a much more positive way than those you aren't familiar with." Well, there was more to it than that, but the doctor didn't entirely know everything about such 'human' sayings.
Rather, he was just glad that he was able to calmly speak to Coal, without her worrying about her eyes or about other people. When all of that was handled and squared away, what was left was an endlessly curious fox, one who wanted to learn as much about everyone around her as she could!
"Heh... no, I didn't have that kind of trouble when I was younger, Coal. Actually, my eyes weren't able to do that sort of scanning at all. It was something I learned, and something that I practiced when I became stronger." Unlike the genetic traits of humans, Digimon actually could alter their so-called DNA with effort - which was how Coal was able to inherit such a tool in the first place! "I've done the most work with data cores - its, um, a ball-shaped entity of data in most Digimon's chest, that makes up most of their code. And before moving up here, I was mostly in Whitewater - I had a medical office out there, but when the family got bigger, we moved around for space until we finally landed up far in the north."
"Curious, aren't ya, sis?" Amber gave a chuckle, but kept her focus on the drawing. Dark red, salmon, a touch of orange, and a few rough greys - it took a while to get into the rhythm, especially with the intricate detail of the wings, but Amber's rough sketch of the Examon was slowly springing to left. The far-left wing that she was working on almost seemed to spring to life out of the page, as Amber carefully turned the notebook to get a better angle.
"... You do definitely have an interesting sketchbook, mom." Amber gave a smile. "Have you met all of these Digimon, or something? I mean, dragons, huge landscapes, knights... they might just be drawings, but somehow they seem a lot more 'personal' than that..."

”Huh. So that’s what that really means; holly n I were talking bout something; don’t really remember what and it came up.”
Coal rubbed at her chin and furrowed her brow, past what holly had explained about it she didn’t really know too much but the clarification that her da just gave her made even more sense! The renamon flicked her ears forward and brightened a bit.
”Well that makes sense I guess, wonder what sort of stuff I could learn how to do if I practiced.”
Silence’s ears seemed to shift ever so slightly and a small smile started to spread across her face; it was the look of someone willing to teach and it would probably be worrying if mikemon saw the look on his partner’s face.
”That would explain why it feels strange to others when I look at their wireframe and their core if that’s what the lil light in people’s chests are. And… White...water? I don’t know that place. In fact other than here I don’t really know any other city or location erm…”
Coal blushed lightly and she found herself meekly drinking her milk at amber’s comment. Silence shifted to give either of her daughters a rub on the top of the head and after a moment she’d consider what just all to tell them. What was okay and how to approach this. Instead of immediately answering she’d provide her own little journal and unlike coal; who was slowly working on a picture. The shutmon’s hands danced as though they were controlled by strings.
It was a gorgeous rendition of a mon meditating on a stump with a tree that was beating like a heart behind her. Spreading up into the branches was different scenes, all ones that amber would recognize and many others that she wouldn’t. It felt like a story being told without words; and even though it took just maybe about an hour of that pencil dancing on the paper…
The shutmon’s voice was hushed and there was a somberness that was unlike her normal self. She’d shift ‘new’ journal and offer it to amber so she could see everything there. Every little piece. They both told stories about their work and with coal just sitting there; sipping at her milk she seemed more than content just learning about what her mother had to say.
”It’s something I think you’re not ready for; they’re memories of my own but not of my own. They’re people I’ve seen and met but never quite just. A saga that I myself am working to live up to; while making sure that my little lights right in front of me get to have one of their own. There’s no good answer I can give you right now other than that. But…”
That smile from earlier returned and the shutmon tapped one of the images; that renamon standing across from a very familiar blackgatomon. They seemed to be sparring! But it was hard to tell completely.
”Lessons in the past are the foundation of the future. That said? I think it’s about time I start training the both of you.”

"Well, you certainly have time to figure out what you want to do."
Mikemon gave a smile, pleased to see his daughter's curious nature. Of course, the two didn't know that much about the world yet - what wireframes were, what that ball of data was floating in the middle of a Digimon, or even what Whitewater was! "Oh - oh! Whitewater's a city out by the ocean, and its where my last medical practice was. Nice place, but can be quite humid and hot if you stay outside for too long... so kinda the complete opposite of the mountains."
Still, it seemed that Coal was still a bit shy, even receding a bit from her sister's teasing. Well, for now, that was fine enough. Amber continued on her work, eyes looking briefly up as Silence flipped through those scenes. So many personal drawings, so many memories - and an explanation as mysterious as the book itself was. The fox tilted her head a bit at her mother's explanation. "I'm not sure I get it... wait, is that Syre?"
Seeing her older sister on the now-open page, Amber seemed just as confused as to why she was inside that interesting collection - and her ear flicked as Silence brought up that last bit!
"Training? Like... what kind?"
"She means combat." Mikemon's tone was more flat at this point, a slightly serious edge to his words. "You two are rookies now - and though most Digimon are nice, you'll run into situations where you'll have to use your abilities. Sometimes it'll be to use your strength to help out, and other times, well... it'll be to defend yourself. Silence and Syre are good at it, so we want you two to practice with them."

”Y-yeah… whole life in front of me!”
Coal smiled softly and looked down at her hands, she wasn’t sure what she wanted. She didn’t know if she ever would. The renamon’s ears flicked and she’d look to her father; so whitewater was another city and out by the ocean? Now coal’s eyes lit up in the idea of going somewhere new but hearing that it could be humid and hot made her pull at her fur curiously.
”So gotta dress light rather than heavy?”
Coal leaned on her sister, staring at the book and listening to everything that she had said. She seemed… oddly curious about it all and then the shutmon had the gaze of the black renamon rather firmly. Silence would nod her head at hearing mikemon speak.
”We still do our own training, holly has her own but it’s different than ours so it wouldn’t be as helpful…”
Silence closed her notebook before standing up; stretching a little bit as she considered how to go about this. Today would be as good as any to at least get some basics down and see what she was dealing with!
”That being said! We’ll just start easy, something for the both of you. Since there aren’t really any plans for today that I can think of; we can just handle at least the bare bone basics methinks.”
She’d shift and her form would regress down to the renamon from earlier. She seemed a bit cheerful about all of this even though that coal seemed to be a little more than nervous about it!
”Though that does leave the question of where we could go for it… Don’t think I should take them to vander tower right now…”
Coal sat there and sort of looked down at her hands; she’d blink slowly. She was oddly silent about this; usually speaking up about not wanting to do something she had no interest in or not willing to go out and about. The renamon-x’s earlier little bit at the shop had left her… well oddly drained but at the same time she couldn’t explain it well enough. She was fine with doing something that didn’t require much in the way of talking!
”...Vander tower?”
”...Have I seriously not said a word about the knights to either of you?”
Silence looked baffled and then rubbed at her chin; she seemed to be rather amused at this idea more than anything!

Combat?
Like... actual fighting? Amber's ear flicked at that, the yellow fox sitting up, putting her pencils away as she heard her dad talk. And it wasn't just dad - mom went right along with it, saying that they were going to start right now! The Shutmon reverted down to her Renamon form, the same one that took them shopping. And honestly, Amber seemed a little nervous.
But she also knew that Coal would also be nervous. Seeing her sister look down at her hands, Amber was able to take a moment to compose herself. Carefully setting her sketchbook aside, she'd stand up, and stretch out her arms. "Well, might as well try it for a bit, right? Though, where is a good question... up here with all of the ice?"
"How about you three take a portal down to Terminus Fields?" Mikemon gave a shrug. "If you're all in rookie, you won't be messing up anything out in the middle of nowhere."
"Terminus Fields?" Silence would know them - the big, wide-open plains just outside of the big city. But neither of the foxes would likely have context! "Well, if that's the best place... then let's go!"

Coal couldn’t help but fidget, she’d close her eyes and exhale softly as she heard her sister speak. Honestly she wasn’t feeling too for this but it would probably be a good idea to see where the twins were at if this was the case. Even if it was just the once they’d at least know! Then they could practice or figure out their own powers… The black renamon-x watched her sister and tilted her head as mikemon suggested terminus fields.
”...Terminus fields? That’s just outside of Terminus isn’t it?”
Coal wasn’t entirely certain; given that she had never gone out of snowflake but hearing her sister be all ready for it she’d sigh and stand up. She was ready to go; but would they need a coat? Coal presumed that they might and would go to the door; ready to grab the cloaks just in case it was cold enough.
”Oh dear you won’t be needing those. It’s not that cold in the terminus fields. Not for a while at least.”
Silence let out a small chuckle and nodded her head to Amber. Coal would place the cloaks back with a confused look but after a moment Silence thumbed a portal open just near the entrance of home. She’d turn her head to mikemon and lean down t o give a kiss to the top of his head. Whispering softly to the other...
”Mind seeing if you and holly could get something tasty for dinner? I have a feeling these two may need it.”
She’d give him a gently rub on the side of his head before leading coal and amber through the portal; shooting a small wink at the mikemon. She figured that she could also pick up something from terminus for the lot of them. After sending coal and amber home of course!
The portal would deposit them in the lofty fields of terminus, the massive city was still just a good ways out in the distance but it’s sheer size would make it difficult for you to lose track of it. The renamon stretched a little bit and encouraged her daughters to do the same. If they had the time the three of them would make sure that they wouldn’t pull something or the like in the middle of combat!
”Now I know this is a bit sudden for the both of you, but just try to focus and be careful all right? I know the both of you are nervous and well trust me; I was nervous about this sort of stuff once upon a time.”
