He couldn’t help being quiet really; there sometimes wasn’t much he could tell people. Or there would be information that wasn’t pertinent or he just felt he didn’t need to share. He’d shift against the counter and make sure that it could perhaps support his weight as he pulled himself up.
”What you do with the power you get is up to you and the choices you feel comfortable making. To some they would use this power for their own gains and others would use it for the people they care for. If what you want to do is help people then go forth and just believe in you and your spirit. It’s just that simple.”
He’d sigh a bit and shake his head; it wasn’t like there was any one way to do this. Everyone would be different and the man would fish out his business card, handing it to her after a moment. His number, his business address and the fancy graphics on the card probably meant he made it himself.
”It sounds like you already know what you want to do and what you could do for others. I think the only people that would want to stop that sort of video series is DATS. Since their entire thing is… well. Keeping digimon hush and trying to keep digimon from being in our world. At least… that’s what old dats wanted. Can’t say for certain about the new ones.”
It’s not like finding out would be difficult. But if he went searching there was a good chance that they would find him and his partner. Find his ex-wife and his friends through his connections. He’d shift a bit and tug his device up to look at it.
”Yeah that’s my spirit partner Snyder; he’s a bit more active than most spirits are.”
”I might have been awake but payin attention to everything ain’t my forte. Pleasure to meetcha Ms. Honoka.”
Kan shook his head and rubbed at his chin. How much longer would it be before her father got here? So he could talk about the computer and what he’d need to do with it? Or what he had for them. He didn’t anticipate the father wanting it free of charge so he had a suggestion for it.
Given that he needed a tree in his yard or a few bushes. After all the local neighborhood council wanted him to spice it up rather than looking so drab so…
”Any idea if you’re gonna give your partner a name? Don’t have to if she doesn’t want one or already has one. I know some prefer to keep themselves distant from their user till later.”
”Kan’s never had a normal set of spirits, first was bloodthirsty, second were chatty and well me? I like drinkin’”
”And working out.”
”Nah I like makin you work out; been doin wonders for your health.”
Kan gave a shrug and just shook his head; the Hawaiian shirt and the white undershirt had to agree. When he was younger he wouldn’t have been so muscular with that bloodthirsty spirit or the like. Heck he probably would still be a tiny guy with an attitude if it wasn’t for silvermon-x…
”I spose since we have time, do you mind if I ask you what flowers would be good for my property? I’ve got some pictures on my phone of the place.”

Honoka listened to Kan's encouragement and explanation, nodding while pondering thoughtfully. She had remembered something that Desmond told her, about Digimon only existing within Shibuya. "I could see them blocking videos if they truly want to keep Digimon quiet, but if Digimon are only in Japan, then it would be run by the Japanese government, right? If information about Digimon spread worldwide, then there wouldn't be much they could do to stop it..." Still, it would take a smarter girl than her to work that out. Besides, it seemed like this kind of talk made Kan a little uncomfortable. So instead, the conversation topic moved onto his spirit partner.
"And the pleasure's all mine..." She had trouble thinking of a proper honorific for the spirit. "Umm.... Snyder-san!" Can't go wrong with the basics. Kan had asked whether or not she was going to give Floramon a name, something the girl felt conflicted on. "That's... I'm not so sure. I don't think Floramon can speak, so even if she has a name, she hasn't told me yet. And I don't think I want to just give her a name, either. It's not like she's a pet, after all. She's my partner!" And not having a name didn't seem to bother the flower spirit very much. Come to think of it, so long as Honoka was in a decent mood, nothing seemed to bother the spirit. How much consciousness did the spirit even have? She was beginning to realize how little she knew about the spirit that bonds with her in body and soul. It was ironic, if not a little concerning.
Kan and Snyder traded banter, and Honoka had to step in at one point. "Well, exercise is important, of course, but I found that transforming takes a great deal of energy. I've got a pretty good lung capacity so stamina's never really been an issue, but even I get exhausted. I feel like the more I transform the less energy I use up, but lately I've been trying some endurance training to see if I can help facilitate that process and..." She stopped talking before she could further expose her not-so-hidden fitness geek.
Kan then asked about flowers for his property, and Honoka suddenly perked up. "Well, yeah! I can definitely do that!" Finally, something she was confident in! She nodded, looking at the pictures of Kan's house. Three stories and a large yard, which meant that space wasn't an issue. And with the right decorations, just about anything would do. So shouldn't she pick something that represented Kan?
"I'm thinking... gladioli..." She finally stated after a brief deliberation. "They're a little on the exotic side, and they can grow to be pretty tall if you take care of them properly. Still..." She crossed her arms as if in thought. "It wouldn't feel right if I just gave you some seeds and soil... So text me your address and I'll come over and plant them for you this Sunday!"
She put her arms behind her back innocently, giving the large man a sickeningly sweet smile. "I don't want to do it out of gratitude, but from a business aspect! A few months from now, your neighbors see your beautifully-presented flowers, and ask you where you got them from. Of course you tell them you got it from us and then they come and check our place out!"

”It wouldn’t be the first time, the goldenweek stuff got posted up fairly quickly and taken down just as quick but I think eventually it stopped on both halves. As for if the information about digimon spread world wide? It’d be hard to believe that the other governments don’t know about it; it’s likely they’re just waiting to see what happens rather than address japan directly.”
But then you got into politics and well… He wasn’t super keen on that. With the topic shift to snyder the lion let out a low rumbling laugh at being given the honorific of ‘san’. Probably for the best given that anything else might confuse the drunkard!
”Yeah; probably won’t be the last time I see or hear yah. Digital world likes making the same people meet over and over for some reason.”
If there was any way for a disembodied spirit to have an eyeroll in his voice snyder probably would have found a way. But hearing that the flroamon spirit didn’t have a name or didn’t tell her yet made kan pause. So she wanted to keep it as a friendly sort of relationship right? That made sense to kan.
”Well you get used to the transformations after a while, once you get to ‘higher’ levels the lower ones stop draining you so much. If you want endurance training I know a few gyms. In fact...
Kan dug around in his backpack and drew out one such gym card; it was one that he had gone to years ago but after moving around he wasn’t anywhere near it. It would be a hot train ride away for the youth so he wasn’t sure how likely that would be that she’d go.
”Oh? Gladioli…?”
Kan furrowed his brow and looked up the flower in question; he’d nod his head a bit at hearing how if he took care of them they’d get pretty tall. Which meant that people could see them from over his wall right?
”All right; but that means I’ll need your number to text you with then.”
Then came the bit that made the man pause; snyder started to laugh from the digivice and if he could have patted the other human on the back he would!.
”HAH! Usin’ your own words against yah; I like this one!”
Kan just shook his head and started to pack up his equipment; there wasn’t much of a reason to put the computer back together if they were going to go with his suggestion right? That and gretal would be here with the computer pretty shortly right? Though he had to wonder how the youth here would react to the mon in disguise or if they could even tell that she was! Thinking of that the man opened his mouth just as there would be a knock on the door and a familiar voice speaking up.
”I swear this is the right place, how many bloody flower shops are there in this area…? Helllloooooooooooooooooooooo?”
Kan glanced at Honoka and sighed a bit; he hadn't expected gretal to figure out how to wipe his computer so quickly but... Well. She had been working with him for the equivalent of ninety some years in digital time so...
"And that is gretal way ahead of schedule..."

Honoka had heard stuff about golden week, but she never really paid much attention to the news around that time. She remembered there were a bunch or rumors about it when she got back to school, however. Even so, if it did have something to do with Digimon, she supposed they weren't rumors after all. There was still so much that Honoka needed to learn about the human world's reactions to Digimon, let alone the Digital World itself!
"Well, I look forward to meeting again, Snyder-san!" She replied with a smile to his comment about them most likely meeting again. She did wonder what the spirit meant by his exact words, though. Did the Digital World have a will of its own? Was it the world itself that gave out Digivices? She had a feeling that neither Kan nor Snyder knew for sure, so she didn't bring it up. It would have to be one more mystery for another day.
Kan had offered her a gym card, but she put up her hands and politely refused. The frugal girl didn't want to rely going to a gym, after all, and for what it was worth, she enjoyed finding opportunities to train wherever they came. "I appreciate it, but... no thank you! I have... sort of a more..." She couldn't think of an appropriate word at the moment. "A more freestyle kind of training regiment I'm comfortable with!"
Upon Kan's urging Honoka pulled out her phone and gave the man her phone number without hesitation. Then Snyder let out a laugh and praised the girl, and she couldn't help but blush awkwardly at the praise. She still really didn't know how to deal with praise very well. "Ah, well, Sunday's probably the best day I can come over, I don't have school that day, and since it's technically for the shop, I'm sure my father will let me go. It's not like there's many more dangerous places outside of these parts, after all!" Well, in the human world, after all, but she wasn't going to tell her father about the other world. The one where racist rock monsters blame your species as the source of all their world's problems and attack you. He probably wouldn't like that kind of story very much, happy ending or not.
Then they heard a knocking at the door as Kan was putting up his equipment. She heard a woman's voice and heard Kan comment about her being ahead of schedule. So this was Kan's... ex-wife? Employee? She had heard both from Snyder's remarks, but she figured she would just keep silent while they were formally introduced. "Yes! Coming!" Honoka called out as she hurried over to the door and opened it up. She had left it open so she wouldn't have to struggle with it, but she opened it up all the way and gave the woman a bow. Something about her seemed a little peculiar, but she couldn't quite place it. She seemed like a normal human. "You're with Kan-san, correct? I'm Honoka, the shop owner's daughter! It's nice to meet you!"

Goldenweek from what kan understood was a mess; someone had tried to get it so that the world would know about digimon. But for now it was still japan’s dirty little secret that they wanted to keep to themselves. No doubt there were individuals from across the world that were employed with mons in some sort or another but… That again was a topic he wasn’t entirely sure about.
”Polite one ain’t she? Yeah we’ll meet again hah!”
The spirit chuckled lightly and went back to what amounted to a cat nap; he’d wake up in a pinch if something happened and the man didn’t seem entirely bothered by this fact. There was that soft smile as the man glanced down at his device; out of all his spirits he was probably the second most friendly one he had dealt with. He’d tilt his head at her declining his gym card and just shrugged. Stuffing the card back into his pocket.
”Makes sense, go with what works for you then!”
Kan quickly punched in her number into his phone, if she ever needed help with digital matters or for tech support now he was simply just a quick call away! The praise that snyder gave her was seemingly well received and the man rubbed at his chin. Sunday was the best day? It made sense given the information he had here and he’d turn his head as she ran to the front door.
Gretal’s holosuited form was only about 6’2 at the most, though that mostly depended on the outfit she wore. Today she was wearing some blue cargo-pants and a grey sleeveless T-shirt. Her own backpack was worn over both shoulders and there was the faint hint of jet fuel coming off of her. Whether that was from her actually working at the airport or using her jump jets… would be only known to her.
”Yeah I’m with the big ol dork. Pleasure’s all mine Ms. Honoka.”
The woman grinned and slid one of her hands out of her pocket, she was extremely casual and offered the most casual of handshakes. Moving past the young woman once allowed and pulling at her backpack to bring out that laptop. It was a hefty looking thing; wide and large casing that definitely would make it sturdy. The sort of laptop you’d expect a mechanic or engineer to have.
”Got most of the settings out and overwith, and installed the newest update we’ve got. Oh and the manual. Kid you got a pen?”
The woman pulled out what amounted to the help guide for the physical portion of the computer. Then there was also the number for the windows registration that they’d need if they wanted to keep it paid when inevitably another update from 10 to some other number occurred. ”You didn’t bring one?”
”Look I left in a hurry, first I had to hustle over to the other shop and from there I was at least able to yoink myself over to a place closer to here. If it wasn’t for that time difference damn man…”

"S-sorry, I know that a lot of people say that I'm really stubborn about stuff, but... it's more like... I know what I want...?" She wasn't sure how to properly phrase it as Kan put the gym membership card away. Honoka was worried that he offended him somehow, even though he clearly didn't show any signs of offense.
Honoka had no idea how to actually get to her phone number onto her phone, but thankfully she memorized it so it wasn't an issue. She may or may not need her brother's help putting Kan's contact info into her phone later. But she wouldn't dare bring that up out of complete embarrassment.
Gretal may have been one of the tallest women she had ever seen up close, and it took the relatively short Honoka to get used to having two giants inside the small building. All of a sudden, the mostly empty flower shop was beginning to feel cramped. There was an odd smell to her that Honoka didn't quite recognize, but she assumed it had something to do with her job. She offered a handshake and Honoka accepted it readily.
She pulled out a big, bulky laptop computer, though the girl could have sworn that computers these days were supposed to be more compact, but she supposed that she shouldn't complain about a free computer. Gretal began to talk about stuff Honoka didn't understand and then asked for a pen. That was something she could do!
"Y-yes! Just give me one second!" She darted back to the office, grabbing a loose pen. Before she ran back, however, she tried to scribble some random writing on a nearby notepad, but the tip of the pen indented the page, but left no traces of ink. "No... Come on, come on, come on..." She scribbled nervously until some ink finally showed, then raced back towards Gretal and Kan, just in time for them to finish their little spat.

”Don’t worry about it too much. I getcha.”
There was a cheerful smile and he didn’t seem to be too bothered by her trying to explain stuff to him. Honestly when it came down to it; there was no one that could force honoka to train her body the way she wanted to right? Just the same way no one could do that to him!
Gretal chuckled lightly and that firm handshake lasted all of two shakes. She’d stretch after a moment and with the computer being placed down the large woman was glad to have the pen. She needed to write down about a dozen things. Logging numbers, programing mumbo jumbo and some stuff that would let them get another version of windows if this one mucked up too much!
”Thanks kid. Most of this stuff is just normal run of the mill junk you need for a computer. If ya’ll have problems anyways it’s not like we’re hard to find. Heck kan himself can’t escape people takin pictures!”
Gretal cackled in a really sort of obnoxious way before waving farewell. Kan himself sighed and shook his head. He’d turn to her and give a small shrug.
”Well sunday it is for those flowers then? You can show me what i have to do to keep em healthy. Unless you plan on stopping by a lot just to tend to them.”
The man snorted and shook his head; he knew how busy some kids could be. But getting away from the house was something he also could understand. Space was important and having some plans elsewhere in the city would also be nice!
”That being said; it was nice meeting you Honoka.”
The large man offered his own hand for a shake and well… even if he was given it or not he’d bid Honoka farewell before heading out after gretal…
