Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Oct 10, 2020 8:31:04 GMT
Kenny could barely even take a step forward before a loud ear-piercing screech rumbled throughout the walls, forcing him to stop dead in his tracks and block his ears until it died down, wincing all the while. Only when it did die down did he stand frozen in place for a brief moment, blinking his eyes and raising his D-Nexus up, the screen glowing as the flow of data emerged from it, Skadi's original Rookie form standing in place.
All they knew that the danger had passed... for now.
"Jesus..." Kenny could only mutter out loud to nobody in particular as he looked towards the hole once more, "Just hope Kitt and Shade are OK, at least." As he slowly and cautiously made his way towards the hole, Skadi was quick to move out, trotting post-haste towards the hole, cautiously peering into it first hand, only to be greeted by the sight of Kitt and Shade, standing tall. And a flow of data of what seemed to be their fallen flow, retreating into the caverns.
"Kitt? Kitt...? Shade? Are you guys OK?" Skadi's voice echoed within the caverns as she stepped through. Despite the massive size of the mighty GrapLeomon easily dwarfing the lamb, she just stepped forward, tilting her head up to him. Without any sort of warning, she threw her arms around Kitt's leg, her arms tightening around it like a powerful magnet.
"We're... sorry about earlier, Kitt." Her words were slightly inadvertently muffled by the leg in the way, "We just wanted to help the team as best as we could. We didn't mean to exclude you or anything back there. Just... can you please forgive us?" Small tears started to welt from the Valaismon's eyes, but, despite the dangerous turbines coiled around the GrapLeomon's legs, she barely budged an inch.
Kenny was soon to follow, his eyes focused on his partner, then onto Kitt. For all he knew, Kitt still didn't think too highly of him, especially with the whole fiasco with the giant elephant in the room that was Shade. KIZNA's protocols did dictate that members couldn't do work solo, but as far as he knew, Kitt was still learning and growing. He knew he couldn't be harsh or cruel to him. After all, he was young himself once, possessing his own 'this'll never happen to me' mentality. As far as he knew, Kitt was a good kid with a big heart and great potential... even if his judgement did need a little more time in the oven.
But it also came as a good reminder for him. Being leader wasn't easy, even if Ryouta, Bezil and Yuuki made it look effortless. But a good leader had to ensure that everyone had their role to ensure everything went smoothly. Trying to do everything himself and insisting that things go exactly the way he wanted, without input from the others, would more likely than not lead him to situations that would most likely end up pear shaped.
At the very least, he did take that unintentional warning to heart.
For now, he had to focus on the current situation, looking up to the 2 giants while awkwardly rubbing the back of his head, "Sorry we're late, guys, we had a bit of a... detour holding us back down there." After a small pause, he gave a small sigh as he looked to Kitt, "And Kitt, Skadi's right. We're sorry we excluded you back there, earlier. Guess I do have quite the way to go before I can become a good leader, huh?" With a small chuckle, he rubbed his arm. But unlike Skadi, he dared not approach Kitt, lest he would accidentally upset him once more.
Whatever the answer they got, the two would suddenly be thrown off by Wizen's panicked cry sputtering from their respective D-Nexus'. Skadi quickly scrambled to pull out hers and put it to her head, "Uh, yeah, we're fine. Just a little battered, that's all, eheh."
But Kenny could feel a part of his blood slowly run cold at the mere mention of Arkadimon. Or more specifically, an even more alien Arkadimon. For a moment, he took a deep breath, before he answered into his device, "Well, I heard he was muttering some weird shit back there. Something about 'knowledge'. And 'us'. And 'grandpa', I honestly couldn't catch all that."
"And when I got there, all I could see was that the data was just getting deeper into the caverns instead." Skadi was quick to add.

The Arkadimon reacted violently to their combined attack, letting out an ear-piercing shriek that echoed throughout the tunnel, forcing Kitt to retreat a few paces back while covering his ears, still remaining on guard. The crystal that sprouted on the creature’s back shattered into pieces, leaving a lot of shards across the floor as it collapsed, now defeated.
Kitt merely watched as the creature slowly crawled away from them, his expression conveying mixed emotions to what he just did. Was he supposed to feel assured, pity, or justification in his action? Sure, Arkadimon tried to erase him and Shade just now, but just watching it writhe in pain with its body flickering in and out just didn’t sit right with him. All he knew, this digimon was going to die, and it was him that laid the mortal blow.
But something that Arkadimon said shortly before dying filled Kitt with unknown horror. “Grand...pa?” he uttered. Feeling the digimon’s data signature dispersed as it retreated deeper into the cave, the GrapLeomon’s arms started to quiver with energy, and not in a good way. That digimon...something happened to it. It was wrapped, changed beyond recognition into...that thing.
His breathing quickly labored. The sounds drowned out around him as each breath became heavier and heavier. Did he just take the life of an innocent?
Before his dilemma could get worse, he felt something tightly wrapping around his leg, which snapped him back to reality. He looked down, only to see Skadi with tears in her eyes, apologizing for what had happened earlier. He didn’t even hear them come in. He gazed at her for a moment before kneeling down to her level, hugging her in a comforting embrace.
“I’m...I’m sorry, too.” Kitt murmured in response, holding her tightly to his chest. His eyes began to well up with tears, but he did his best to keep them at pay, wanting to be strong for Skadi’s sake. “I felt so scared, mad, and left out that I took my frustrations out on you guys, without considering you guy’s feelings.” He took his thumb and gently wiped away the Valaismon’s tears that streamed down her face. “I forgive you guys. I mean we’re friends after all, and that’s what friends are for, right? So from here on out, I’ll be strong for you and you’ll be strong for me.” He smiled.
Placing Skadi on his shoulder, he turned to Kenny. “You got that right on having a long way to go! C’mere!” Extending his arm to him, he brought the human closer to him, giving him a playful, bashful noogie with his large index finger, a tactic out of Ophelia’s textbook. “But I forgive you, Sir Kenny.”
Now they were KIZNA buddies again. And with that, Dr. Wizen came to their comms again. Along with Kenny, Kitt became cold at the mention of Arkadimon, but for different reasons. He took out his D-Nexus to answer. “Yeah… when I…” He swallowed, trying to put his thoughts into words. “When we gave the finishing blow, like Sir Kenny said, it cried out their ‘grandpa.’ But in its data, I felt...sorrow.”
He concluded. “I think something happened to it before. I think it was one of the miners or rescue digmon that was transformed into that monstrosity, against their free will. I think that crystal it had has something to do with it..."

Shade stared down at the arkadimon’s ‘body’ as the other had been hit time and time again. Spike and sword had made short work of it. It gained shade’s attention and he’d squat to watch it quietly. It’s last words earning a flick out of the wolves ears. His piercing blue eyes locking onto the last crisps of data as they floated into the air. It made way deeper into the darkness; deeper into the tunnel. Which meant that something further in… likely had drawn it in.
”Unlike the monkey. That was just a guard dog. Shade did not recognize what it was past being an Arkadimon.”
Shade glanced at Skadi and kenny; he’d give them a small nod. He was fine; a few scratches and a few burns that his body was already working on repairing. Given that he was tough and that he had regeneration of sorts it’d take more than that to knock him down.
”If it’s going deeper? Shade can only assume that whatever is deeper in drew the data from the arkadimon back to it.”
Shade stared at kitt as they talked about what had happened and how he forgave the others. Shade took a few moments and took a step forward; extending a hand to kitt. It was an offer for a shake; one that had a serious amount of weight behind it. He understood how easy it would have been to let the arkadimon finish off kenny.
”Before Kitt asked why shade helped. Shade helped Kitt because we are a team.”
Team. Something that shade never really thought he would say; there were other reasons why he had saved kitt but none of those reasons seemed like he needed to say. Kitt was invaluable as far as a fighter went; as were the sheep and other human. He knew that he could rely on the others and it would only be fair if he did the same thing for them.
Sure he was creepy and sure he had come along for the money but… Really now this entire event had gotten him curious and worried. If he could learn more about what was going on perhaps he could use that to his advantage elsewhere if something ever arose that was similar to it.
”If you all are good to continue shade would suggest that we move forward. The less time wasted the better.”

OOC: Seeing how there's been a three month gap, a small summary is probably in order: A team of researchers was sent to one of the oldest and deepest mines on the Northern Prominence, and went missing shortly after. The same fate befell the first rescue party sent to look for them. Now aided with the support from one of the remaining researchers and two freelance mercenaries, a last group of volunteers has been hired to look for any sign of the missing groups down on the cave. So far they have met the opposition of a Baboongamon trying to scare them away from something down in the caves, as well as a strange Arkadimon seemingly infected by strange crystal like growths. Neither of them were able to stop the group, and after the sudden demise of this latter foe, the five of them take a moment to collect their thoughts and try to figure out just what is going on...
Emotions running high aside, it seemed that everyone on the team had made it out relatively fine, which in the end was what mattered most for their mission. "Well...I for one I'm glad to hear you all safe and sound. Things are certainly looking significantly better for us." The labcoat wearing digimon said, trying to sound reassuring in any way. As they mentally and verbally retraced their steps over what had just happened, they could probably hear the distinct sound of a pen rapidly scribbling against paper on the other end of the line. Accompanied by various mumbles and instances of "hmm".
"Arkadimon...guardog..."grandpa"...wonder if...hm..." The contemplative musings would stop as soon as Kitt mention the possibility of that arkadimon being part of one of the previous expeditions, taking Wisen out of his stream of consciousness and back to reality. "Those are certainly plausible theories, but nothing that we can do about it for now." He said, a slight trembling in his voice betraying the growing concerns those theories brought him. "Now if you're able to please follow that data. Maybe it will take you to the heart of this whole mess...just please be very careful. Our scanners can't get a good read on what's below you so be ready for anything."
And so once they were finished catching their breath and provided they didn't have objections, the prairiemon would continue his cautious walk deeper into the tunnels, the other four hopefully following close behind. Surprisingly enough no matter how quickly or slow they walked the data from the defeated arkadimon was always perfectly visible in the distance, always seemingly at the same distance from them. If they slowed down, so too would the trail slow down, as if to wait for them, and the opposite would be true if they decided to move faster. It was as if it wanted to be followed, as if leading them somewhere...not like there was anywhere else they could go, as the tunnel continued in a single straight line downwards.
As they descended more and more, they would find that for some odd reason, the tunnels didn't seem to be getting darker, despite the increasing lack of any monmade illumination. Soon enough they'd find out why: various odd mineral formations adorned the walls of the tunnel, all of them pulsing with the same blueish teal like light that kept the darkness at bay. It would have been a nice sight...were it not for how similar they looked to the same crystal formations that the slain arkadimon had.
"This...I don't think these are natural formations..." The prairiemon said as he walked past a particularly dense cluster of crystals sprouting from the wall, taking great care not to accidentally graze any of them. Just to be safe.
"G-uys? Can you---------I thi--------rong-----We c-----eem--o---" The terriermon's voice was slowly but surely drowned out by white noise, the sounds of distortion and static being the only thing audible from the other side of the group's comms. They were on their own now, more so than they had been until now.
"Damn it..." After a moment of fruitlessly fiddling with his communication's device, the brown furred digimon sighed as he turned to look at the group. "...alright people, seems that either the line's busted or something down here is causing interference. Seeing how you're all...well, much more capable in combat than me, I think maybe I should backtrack to where there's still signal in case we need backup. We should be relatively near the bottom anyways so it shouldn't take you long to return as long as there's no resistance down there. If you guys don't come back in the next 40 minutes, I'll send a distress signal. How's that sound?"

Perhaps Kitt might not have been able to physically feel her tears spreading onto his turbines, but as Kitt spoke, Skadi could feel them welt larger over time. Even when he wiped away her tears, it only stopped them for a brief moment. Yet, as the towering Kitt smiled at the tiny Valaismon, she couldn't help but smile back with a simple nod, and as he pulled her up onto his shoulder, she happily lightly rubbed her nose on the GrapLeomon's cheek.
At the same time, Kenny stayed silent, glancing between both Kitt and Skadi, and Shade, the latter just nodding at him from a simple glance, and the former's comfort and forgiveness towards his own partner. After all, he was the one who inadvertently left out Kitt when it came to dealing with the gigantic monkey wrench that was Shade's arrival. And he could feel his heart skip a beat and his blood freeze up the moment the GrapLeomon addressed him as well.
Letting out a sudden yelp as he felt a cold metal hand pulling him fowards, the young man barely had any time to knock himself out of his daze before he could feel the same hand rubbing his forehead for a brief moment. By the time he finished, Kenny already found himself stumbling a little and barely keeping himself up properly, one hand using Kitt's gigantic leg to recalibrate himself properly and the other rubbing his aching head, much to Skadi's amusement, trying to muffle her giggles.
And surely enough, by the time he found his footing once more, he could at least find himself seeing the funny side of it, still rubbing his head with a chuckle as he looked up to the GrapLeomon, "Love you too, buddy."
But as Shade himself approached Kitt, he once again found himself stepping back a little as the wolfman gave a short but blunt reassurance. Skadi could only watch as the WraitGururumon came closer once more. From all she could tell, she sent Shade over to save Kitt, and one simple glance was enough to tell her he did the job. She simply stayed quiet about the truth on why she sent Shade to deal with them.
But what about Wizen's words? Kitt brought up the possible theory that one of the lost Digimon had been forcibly captured, transformed into the Arcadimon, and possibly controlled, against their own free will. That... was an interesting possibly, "Crystal?" Skadi tilted her head quizzically, "I mean, I did spot that data retreating into the cave. I think someone might have been controlling it, like some sort of zombie puppet."
"Yeah, that could explain what's happened down there." Kenny theorized as he glanced at the cave ahead, "We were talking to that wild Baboongamon we fought earlier, and he knows of the Andromon and DigiTama that somehow made it out... well, relatively unscathed compared to the rest. He mentioned something about 'bad noises', 'weird lights' and 'screams and shadows'. That... might explain a few things."
But Wizen and Shade were right. They had no time to lose. Giving a nod to the WrathGururumon, the duo, Skadi still holding onto the GrapLeomon's shoulder, would make their way towards the heart of the cave. Yet, the way the data was moving along as they did was enough to raise a few eyebrows, "That's odd, I've never really seen defeated Digimon data act like that before." Skadi gazed at the data, confused.
"Might give a little more credence to that 'zombie puppet' theory you had back there before, Skadi," Kenny found himself musing as he walked, "I think this might be some sort of booby trap or something, and maybe that's why those guys from the rescue team... barely made it out there intact." But as they walked deeper into the cave and into the crystalized caverns, the duo found themselves glancing upon rows and rows of crystals all across them.
"You're telling me, Auric." He crossed his arms as he glanced around, "Looks like someone here must have hijacked the heart of the cave itself and claimed it as their own." Before he could continue, Wizen's voice devolved into incomprehensible static, forcing him to a stop. Of course it had to happen just as they were approaching the innards of the cave itself. Nethertheless, with Auric volunteering to stay back, the tamer would give a nod.
"That's fair. Maybe you could get your Groundramon buddy from earlier just in case something like that Baboongamon attack happens again? He looks pretty tough at the very least, so I think he might be able to protect you in the meantime." It was just a mere suggestion, but anything would help at this point.
If there were no more objections, then they'd make their way in...

As the turbine gauntlets on Kitt’s forearms grew wet with Skadi’s tears, the GrapLeomon simply stood firm, being the support he intended to be for his friend. It was a bit strange, being in the stead to comfort a friend in need instead of the other way around. But this was a situation that he had cause from his own fears, so it was his duty to rectify this. So when he saw Valaismon smile, he gave a big hearty smile as well, before she nuzzled his cheek with her nose, shocking him a bit as a faint blush dusted his cheeks.
He felt something, something inside of him that began racing: it was his heart. He had nuzzled up to Skadi before, one as a thank you for calming down his nerves in their mission prior, and earlier to stave off the cold. But this...this was different; it was so relaxing, much warmer. He couldn’t explain why, but being in this moment with Skadi made him want to protect her even more.
With Kenny, it was time for a little “payback” as he shifted his attention to the human, pulled him towards him, and gave him a bashful, but gentle noogie with his index finger. Watching his partner stumble onto his leg, the GrapLeomon bark out a boisterous laugh alongside with Skadi’s laugh, grinning down at Kenny. “Next time when you make important decisions, don’t forget that everyone else’s say matters.”
Then, he saw Shade approach them, making Kitt drop his smile and become a bit wary at the WratihGururmon’s intentions. Kitt watched as he extended a hand to him, explaining that the reason why he helped him was because they’re a team. Hearing those words stunned the GrapLeomon. Even after the way he acted against him, he never once replied or looked at him with an ounce of negativity. Maybe Shade wasn’t such a bad guy after all.
Kitt accepted Shade’s hand, shaking it firmly. He gave a warm smile to him. “Yeah, we are a team,” he said. “Just...promise me you won’t do any creepy stuff, ok?”
As Wizen mused over his theory, Kenny recounted their encounter with a Baboongamon, making Kitt’s eyes widen. It looks like there was more to whatever that was going on here than meets the eyes. But Shade and Wizen had a point, it was best to see for themselves instead of guessing. Any moment wasted would further endanger the lives of the survivors.
Nodding alongside Kenny and Skadi, the five ventured deeper into the cave, following the stream of data, now with renewed camaraderie. The data stream that they followed began to act erratically, causing Kitt to question what was going on. “Me neither.” Kitt responded. “When a Digimon dies, they dissolve into data and reform itself as a Digi-Egg at the Village of Beginnings, waiting to be reborn. But this...this is more than just odd; it’s abnormal, not right.”
As they walked deeper, they found themselves in a part of the tunnel that was luminated with the same crystals that the Arkadimon was embedded with, all pulsating in a bluish color.
“It’s almost as if this place is alive.” Kitt commented, observing one of the crystals closely, daring not to touch it.
Suddenly, Wizen’s voice became garbled, then cutting off into radio static. Instinctively, Kitt put a hand in front of Skadi, making sure she was safe while bearing his teeth defensively. He didn’t like this. Something was about to come, but he didn’t know when. Nevertheless, when Auric suggested falling back to where he was in communications range, Kitt nodded his head.
“Please do, Auric-sama.” Kitt said, voicing his concern. “I have a feeling that it’s going to get ugly from here on out.”

The wraithgururumon’s ears flicked and he’d stare at the data as it slowly seemed to make it’s way down the tunnel. Waiting for them to follow it. This left them in such a way that it felt like they were being lured into a trap. The wolf let out a low growl of irritation. He hated traps, being on the opposite end of them at least. The musing and words from the Terriermon made him huff; there was a lot of information to process here and shade couldn’t help but wanting to crush his earpiece in his hand. But he’d deign to just let it be there.
Following through the wolf couldn’t help but just silently mull over what occurred, wondering to himself if they were doing the right thing. His eyes looked to the dense crystals and shook his head. Hearing that the prairiemon had the idea of going off by his own shade turned to look at him.
”Yes. It’s a wonderful idea for you to go off by yourself in a cave system that has claimed many when we don’t know how many enemies there are or what their capacity is. It’s very safe back there. By yourself. With no back up. And the potential of the baboon thinking it a good idea to attack you. You are very brave or very stupid to suggesting going off on your own.”
If the sarcasm in shade’s voice wasn’t apparent; his deadpan stare at Auric would probably label this as an awful idea. He’d turn his attention to kenny and skadi; the both of them semed to muse over some of the information here. Aside from the general affection there wasn’t much that shade had to input here. Was it really appropriate for the moment? But to be fair he also was on the outside of all this. He felt detached which was the right sort of way to go about this…
”...It’s one large territory; if the team was taken like the others it’s likely we may have to fight some. Or an amalgamation of their data forced together. The baboon unfortunately did not pledge itself to us did it?”
Shade rubbed at his neck wondering if it had; if it didn’t that wouldn’t mean it would be helpful. Just submissive to the mons that beat the ever living tar out of him. The reaction that kitt had to shade approaching him and shaking his hand made shade chuckle a bit.
”Unless kitt wants Shade to eat bad memories or emotions shade won’t do anything creepy.”
That was a promise; it was something that he made sure that others knew. He was hungry yes but he wasn’t about to go around and just feast on those he didn’t get permission from. He’d rumble thoughtfully and start to pad towards the data. He didn’t care that communication was cut off.
”Even with communications cut off that doesn’t change our job or our fate if we fail. If we fail there is no saving us from this is there? So we don’t fail. We fight and fight and fight. We stand up when knocked down and even if shade has to pull lion or sheep up by their scruff we’ll make it through this.”
Shade wasn’t the leader type; he was the sort that would keep going regardless of how the others felt. Hearing that kitt thought that this was going to get ugly the wraith paused and considered something briefly.
”If there are other crystal mons maybe it’d be a blessing to break them rather than have them be like this. Don’t hold back.”

"Well...just please be careful chumps. I'd hate having to save your butts and take all the credit so you better win, ok?" Auric replied with a nod after everthing was said and done, audible concern in his tone but a supportive smile on his face. "Now show whatever is under there what for!"
With that out of the way, once the group left the prairiemon behind it wouldn't take them much longer to find themselves stopping once more, as they came to a large crystaline barrier of spiky and jagged minerals covering the entirety of the tunnel ahead. It would soon be obvious that this wasn't a mere dead end, as they could clearly hear something coming from the other side of the barrier. Humming. And a voice quietly singing.
"Heartaches, heartaches, what does it matter how my heart breaks...I should be happy with someone new, but my heart aches for you..."
As for the arkadimon data trail? It would simply continue ahead, completely unimpeded by the crystal formation and cross to the other side.
"...hm? I take it our guests have finally arrived?" The voice would stop it's humming with a question, before quietly speaking up again in a gentler tone. "There there, don't cry. You did as he asked, and now they're here. He'll no doubt be very happy."
A bright light would be faintly visible coming from the other side of the crystals, before it faded just as quickly. After that would follow a moment of silence, before a loud scraping of stone against rock would rumble throught the tunnel as the barrier seemed to slowly lower into the ground, digging its way back into the earth and leaving the way open for the group to proceed ahead.
Behind it was a massive, perfectly circular room. Assorted mining equipement (pickaxes, helmets, flares and the like) in various states of disrepair adorned the smooth rocky floor. On the wall opposite to the entrance would rest a metallic arch, the rocky wall contained within it's curved edges a pitch black, blacker than anything else in the cave.
The only source of light that allowed the group to see...anything really came from more of those large crystallized formations along the wall, ceiling and floor. Only these seemed to glow more than the ones from the tunnels, partially hiding in their cold blue light something contained within the crystals. Figures of various sizes and shapes, all sitting completely frozen in place.
A couple of guardromons. A toy agumon. A marine angemon and a lopmon dressed in a very similar fashion as Wizen. There was no mistaking them, they had finally found the missing group and rescue crew...or what was left of them, at least.
And finally at the very center of the room, a hunched over figure sat on the floor, legs crossed as he stared intently into a small cauldron over a makeshift fire.
"Welcome, friends. We've been expecting you." The angemon spoke without looking up from the cauldron, his soft and calm voice clashing against both his surroundings and his ghastly appearance. For starters he looked pale, far more so than the usual for his kind. Many cuts and bruises adorned his body, his helmet dented and with a small chunk of it missing, revealing the exposed digital wireframe underneath it. But was most striking was his wings, or rather the lack of them. They were completely missing, but not as if they had been torn or injured, but almost as if they had never been there to begin with.
"Please do take a seat. Dinner should be ready any time soon, and grandad will be quite cross if I don't treat guests fairly." He said, finally looking in their direction with a crooked smile, weakly rising his hand up in a slow wave of his arm.

It was hard to ignore all the chills that ran down both Kenny and Skadi's spines as they found themselves going deeper into the crystalized cavern with the rest of the group. The Arcadimon data just wistfully moved itself along without a second thought, and even when they had come to a stop thanks to the crystal wall blocking the way, the data just moved itself along like if it was nothing, along with some sort of odd singing...
"...what the hell's going on?" Kenny quietly whispered to himself as he watched the data move through the wall without a second thought. But as the voice continued to speak, he found that he'd be getting more questions than answers.
"'Guests'? 'Don't cry'? 'He'?" He found himself raising an eyebrow towards the crystal wall, "What the hell are they on about?"
"I don't know, but I don't think we're going to like the answer." Skadi muttered, "I know it might sound a little too obvious to everyone here, but I think 'he' might be the grandpa Kitt was talking about earlier."
Right on cue, Kenny would instinctually find himself stepping back and Skadi sinking her head behind Kitt's shoulder as the crystal wall glowed and faded away, alongside the barrier itself sinking into the earth and opening the path forward, leaving the young man to pause for a moment before continuing.
"Well, whatever it is, hopefully we can get into the bottom of this as soon as possible." He glanced into the rest of the cavern ahead, "We've already come this far. We can't let Wizens and Auric down now."
It was a rather un-dramatic entrance towards the circular room inside, yet as they entered, the chills running down their back would only start to intensify. The duo would find themselves glancing everywhere around the crystals, and yet, when they saw who was inside of the crystals...
As Kenny glanced at the trapped Digimon inside, he pulled out his copy of the list (albeit with the Andromon's name crossed out), and shot his eyes back towards it once more, mainly the Digimon that could be spotted: 1 Assistant lopmon 2 Toyagumon 1 Marineangemon 3 Guardromon
"Well, it looks like we might have found them. Or rather, what's left of them." He quietly exclaimed. His train of thought would be quickly derailed by the Angemon(?) in front of them. One glance upon their figure and quickly those two would realize something was off about them, most notably their eerie calmness and lack of aggression as they addressed them all-
Wait, did he just refer to 'Grandad' just now?
Despite the Angemon's insistence to take a seat, neither would exactly budge just yet. Instead, Kenny just had to ask the Angemon one simple question out of morbid confusion and silent alarm;
"Who are you?"

After Auric departed from the party, Kitt continued to traverse deeper into the crystal cavern with the rest of the team, following the data trail left behind by the Arkadimon until they came to a dead end, with the data phasing into the large crystallized barrier that blocked the path. Seeing the crystal barrier pulsate like a heartbeat, Kitt couldn’t help but feel a wave of uneasiness. Everything about this place was unnatural. It was almost as if the cave around them was alive.
A voice then echoed from behind the crystal, singing. Someone was here, and whoever they are, they were expecting them. The GrapLeomon took a step back as the barrier slowly lowered, leading them into a large room with mining equipment littering the floor. Taking cautious steps, he came to a sudden halt, eyes widening in horror to what was illuminating the crystals throughout the room: it was the missing scientists and rescue crew.
“Oh no!” Kitt exclaimed. Rushing over to the crystal containing the Assistant Lopmon, he quickly assumed the worst. He placed an ear on the crystal to listen closely, hearing a faint beat coming from their core. "Thank heavens, they're still alive. Whatever these crystals are seem to be trapping them in some sort of stasis." Immediately, he wanted to shatter the crystals to break all of them free. But seeing how these crystals behaved, he opted not to, afraid of hurting the Digimon inside.
However, that relief quickly boiled into anger as the same voice called out to them, belonging to what appeared to be a ragged and beaten Angemon. Kitt’s fur stood up on end, either through eerie calmness or fear he wasn’t entirely sure.
“We’re not doing anything,” he growled. “You better cut the crap and tell us what you’ve done to all of these Digimon, right now!”
