No-one expects much out of Folder Desert. After all, it was a vast, sandy landscape, home to only the most hardened or desperate of Digimon. With little to offer in resources and shelter, it remained largely abandoned, an empty landscape known only for its glittering Trailmon tracks and the occasional spar of powerful Digimon, not wanting to damage the rest of the Digital World.
It is here, in the most unassuming place of the Digital World, that the first appeared. As the night crept into the early minutes of the morning, the moon glinting overhead, something happened here: something that could be seen as far away as Rustport, and even the ends of the desert. A single pillar of light stretched straight up into the sky, a massive array of energy cascading out in all directions, as if someone had just set off a beacon. For several seconds, this pillar of light maintained itself, before simply vanishing once more into the dead of night.
Some were left in awe. Most were left confused. And a few wondered if anything had happened at all.
But as the morning came around, and when the locals from Rustport finally had a chance to investigate, the bizarre nature of this phenomenon only grew further. From where this “Pillar of Light” had arisen, an entire city had seemed to sprout overnight. Well, at least in part: in the outskirts, several machine and metallic Digimon could be seen hauling around girders as if they were lumber, the smell of solder and oil filling the air as they worked on building both shelter and electrical structures. There were even signs of fresh Trailmon tracks and the beginnings of a new station, impressive progress made overnight in this most uninhabitable place.
That just spoke for the outskirts. But from where the pillar itself had arisen now stood a tall, impressive, metallic tower. Whereas the outskirts might have seemed homely, the construct itself stood intimidating, an impressive tower built upwards, the very top obscured by the sparse clouds of the desert. Its appearance was ominous, and its purpose, unknown.
What was the cause of that pillar of light? How had the machine Digimon been so quickly organized? And what was the purpose of the tower that had sprouted overnight?
