There was a strained grin on the face of the Shutmon as he roughly jammed one of his blades deeper in once he saw it hit something important. "Nothin' personnel... kid." Clearly, he was a little to satisfied with his victory to rip his blades free in time. Shutmon got one free, but the one he jammed extra deep bound him to the time bomb. He shut his eyes, and when time ran out... the explosion harmlessly passed around the wolf's body. Nonetheless, he wasn't pleased. "Cheap shot!"
"Now what...?" That didn't solve the threat of Craniumon. Toki's field of Nirvana kept the dragon and his human safe from attack, but the serpent couldn't see a way to hit back from here. "We'll never win by attrition. We'll be exhausted before he is," spoke GigaSeadramon of himself and Shutmon.
"Then we'll do what the bunny says and make it quick. Cas, Shinra, cover me!" It was true. Shutmon sprinted toward Craniumon, having to outrun the duration of Nirvana before he got sliced to ribbons. Good thing this cone of safety afforded him the luxury of this approach, because after so much fighting in a high-level form he wasn't used to yet, Dakota the Strabimon, as the core of this fusion, was starting to doubt how long he could hold it. Moving certain parts of his body hurt a little after his last injuries. He didn't drop his guard, just in case Shutmon exited the field negligently or it gave out on him. Just gotta get under that shield, Shutmon thought while scraping his two weapons against each other in a fidgeting manner.
Shutmon leapt. He expected he'd have to get through that spear still swinging. The assassin tried to grab hold near its middle, away from the blade, and use that to then pull himself inward, partly relying on the AEGIS Bolster to blunt the impact. If he didn't get repelled, then his momentum would carry him toward that unarmored stomach area. "I'm shutting you down!" If Shutmon was able to jab both blades in there, one might have noticed a purple energy flow down their length and into Craniumon's wound. This was no ordinary stab. No doubt the virus would be less effective on something with the security of an ultra digimon, but the wolf hoped that Craniumon's own ultimate defense wouldn't be quite so ultimate after that.
As for GigaSeadramon, all he could do from the distance was wait and recharge a little. If this worked, he needed to be ready to strike quickly and hard. Shutmon was saved from the self-destruct explosion by Nirvana.Shutmon attacked Craniumon with Complete Shutdown. On success, he shuts down Omni Shield.
-Complete Shutdown: This digimon stabs both his scissors into an opponent and uses this as a method to inject a virus. This virus shuts down one passive ability or active ability Shutmon knows the opponent has for five posts, making it completely unusable. Limit: once per thread. -Sneak Attacker (passive): This digimon is highly competent at striking at the perfect moments. However, he is designed and trained more for quick engagements not prolonged fights. This fighting style increases his base accuracy by 50%, but his damage endurance suffers a 20% penalty.
-Quick On His Feet (passive): This digimon is ultra fast and agile, increasing his base speed by 30%. -[RAM Upgrade Xros] Machine Buster (passive): Due to Kamushi's inherent anti-machine affinity, his attacks release electromatic waves from the point of impact on hit, significantly increasing his damage against the Metal Empire field as well as attacks from any fusion he is in. GigaSeadramon gains one unit of Assault and Battery by not using any other abilities. -Assault and Battery (Passive): This digimon stores energy for his named abilities in an internal energy storage unit. This "battery" can store up to five units of energy and starts with three at the beginning of combat. This battery gains one unit of energy for each post GigaSeadramon does not use a named ability and each time GigaSeadramon is hit by electricity besides his own or an ally’s. Additionally, GigaSeadramon is immune to damage from electricity.
GigaSeadramon has three units of Assault And Battery at post's end Shutmon is protected by the AEGIS Bolster.
-Division Ability: AEGIS Bolster - A technique that derives from the digivice of humans that serve in the battle division of AEGIS. With this, they are able to use their digivice to shine a light on their digimon partner independent of what moves they make this turn. This light increases their defense against all attacks by 30% for 3 turns. [Cooldown: 5 turns].

Craniamon was by far the only Super Mega-level Digimon which John and his little family ever had the pleasure of facing on the battlefield. Or in the entire Digital World, for that matter. Their journey of helping people and Digimon where they traversed in the computerized reality lead the group far and wide, even before they came across Shinra. But were they prepared to face this threat that stood in their way of completing their mission to stop the evil of this tower? Absolutely.
The efforts of Casimeir and Shinra's combined attack appeared to not be in vain. Upon impacting their foe, the duo wasted little time in making sure there was enough space between them and their targeted foe. The pair leaped backward a great distance, with casimeir using his wings and Shinra utilizing her natural levitation ability as though she was swimming through the air. Even if their combination sent the foe to the back wall.
The dust settled. Now those with a line of sight could clearly see there was a crack in Craniamon's armor. Their attacks did land after all. But was it enough? At least now, the armor-clad Super Mega had a weakened spot. If they continued to target that area, they would surely be the victors soon.
Craniamon was a Super Mega, however. The dark one twirled his spear, faster and faster. Both blades soon became a blur like a propeller on an airplane. And from it, multiple shards shot forth, threatening the group as a whole.
Toki stepped up, creating an ability to deter the oncoming attacks after shifting into another form. Everyone here was playing a major role, and John was proud of each and every one. Especially in his commander, who was keeping a cool head thus far and proving his merit.
It would be the Commander who would now take the lead with his team. Shutmon, specifically, had finished off the Tigervespmon and could now put his focus on the remaining enemy. John took a specific note of Tadayoshi's activated AEGIS ability. He kicked himself mentally for not activating it before, but he knew he would definitely need to call on it when the time was right.
Shutmon called for Casimeir and Shinra to cover him. They had no qualms in doing this.
"You got it!" they shouted in unison.
If Shutmon was going to get close, Casimeir and his sister needed to create an opening. They knew just what to do. It was almost as if they could reach each other's minds with the bond they had. John didn't even need to give them an order. The V-shaped piece of armor on the UlforceVeedramon's chest began to glow a brilliant blue. Then, a V-shaped energy blast shot forward to collide into the enemy on the opposite side of the room. Shinra, meanwhile, opened up her missile silos before releasing four super-compressed oxygen torpedoes. Both attacks homed in on their enemy, aiming to land before Shutmon got in range.
"Ray of Victory!" "Oxygen Torpedo Barrage!"
Actions: Casimeir and Shinra attempt to make an opening to cover their ally, Shutmon!
Ray of Victory- Casimeir will fire an energy beam from the V pattern on his chest armor.
Oxygen Torpedo Barrage- Instead of the two torpedoes, Shinra fires a barrage of four super-compressed projectiles. This attack performs 2x more damage while underwater. [3 turn Cooldown.]
Buffs: N/A
Debuffs: N/A
Passives: Winged Fighter (Passive)- In battles, Casimeir's wings help him gain a 30% speed boost.
Exalted Knight (Passive)- Casimeir's attacks deal 30% more damage when used against Virus Digimon.
Blue Digizoid Armor (Passive)- While incredibly lightweight, the armor that Casimeir wears is considered to be holy armor. It grants a 50% resistance against Virus attacks. Data-type Digimon attacks ignore the armor and can issue 50% extra damage against UlforceVeedramon.

"Tch..."
Datamon didn't want it to come down to a fight like this. Toki's 'Nirvana' covered a wide area of the room, nullifying the damage of the Tigervespamon's explosion and briefly holding off Craniamon's Battle Waltz. However, the armored knight still found himself in an advantaged position - and to Datamon's frustration, that blade kept on spinning, the whistling sound of those blades of air still whipping across the room.
"A spear for fighting armies and a shield to blunt their might. Even if this isn't the Royal Knight - never mind." Toki was right - if they didn't press in for an attack now, they were just asking to be overtaken by this storm of wind. And on his request, the Shutmon tried to cut the distance between them, and the two ranged Digimon sent in another assault, attempting to create an opening for the Shutmon. It was probably a combination of efforts: the ranged attacks would be explosive, but would be somewhat blunted as they left the range of Nirvana and were cut through by a number of blades. The two attacks would meet the spinning blades head-on, which, on the surface, appeared to mercilessly slice right through them.
But it did slow down the rotation. And the protection of 'Aegis' was enough for the Shutmon to force his way through the reduced storm as he left the range of Nirvana, and move to where the staff would be spinning the slowest - and without the blade in the way. The Shutmon would succeed in grasping the middle of the spear (likely to the fierce 'crack' of his wrist, as the blade would continue to spin even with the grip), but it would be enough for the Shutmon to force his way through, and stab both blades right through that cracked midsection. An impressive electrical 'crack' would radiate out at that moment, the Knight's body locking up for a bare moment as it felt the impact of their concerted effort.
... Before Craniamon would reach an arm out. The Knight's right hand still clutched tightly around his blade, but the left would let go, aiming to reach out and throttle the Shutmon's neck. If the machine succeeded in latching on, he would give a hard throw - intent on simply slamming down the Shutmon against the ground, to then trap him underfoot. The Knight was damaged, but as it was, this was still a war of attrition.
The Knight would pull his right arm back, hold tightly around the weapon, and swing across. He'd love to try and finish off the brawler in front of him, but the 'support crew' in the back couldn't be let off. The blade would once more shine with holy light, an impressive, sharp arc of holy energy would be swung outwards, almost the length of the room itself, intent on cleaving through everything in its path.
Omni Shield - Avalon is Disabled. The Craniamon, enraged, attempts to throttle the Shutmon by the neck and vault him into the ground. Craniamon attacks everyone else in the room with a single burst of his Claíomh Solais.

For all that it was worth, those in the team were giving this fight everything in their arsenal. Casimeir and his sister, Shinra, created the opening needed for Shutmon to barrel on through and embed his blades into the powerful enemy. John quietly pumped his right fist by his side as the small victory was made. It would be short-lived, though, seeing the Craniamon responding by grabbing Shutmon by the neck. The UlforceVeedramon would not just stand idly by and let his ally be throttled in such a way. He bared his fists, ready to charge the dark one head-on. But he would not be able to take two steps before Craniamon unleashed an attack on him, his sister, and those behind them. Both sibling's eyes widened in horror. If nothing was done, the Super Mega's attack would cleave through everyone. Including the humans. Casimeir's heart beat faster and faster. The situation was now direr than ever. His Tense-great Shield could not be used to defend the others. And even if he could manage to switch back into WarGreymon, the Brave Shield had no chance of blocking an attack with the caliber of a Super Mega. He was out of options. Even Shinra had no abilities in which to defend her teammates. "Hit the deck, Shinra!" Casimeir ordered. "What?" Shinra protested. "What about you?""Just do it!"The UlforceVeedramon lunged forward. The "wings" of his cape spread wide in a state of defiance. Meanwhile, Shinra did as she was asked. She put herself as low to the ground as possible and prayed that the Craniamon's attack would pass over her harmlessly. "If you think I will let you hurt my friends," Casimeir spoke with a taut voice, "then you have another thing coming. John and I have spent the last few years defending the Digital and Human worlds. You're not the first for we have faced, and you won't be the last. You will not hurt anyone that I care about! You will not hurt my best friend!!!"As those final words escaped the Royal Knight Digimon, he thrust both of his hands out to either side. If he was going down, at least he would be doing it protecting those he cared about. He was exhausted and possibly could not hold this form for much longer. John stood on the back of MetalSeadramon, helpless. What was his partner doing? He stood frozen in horror, realizing the sacrifice he was about to make. "No, Cas! Don't! There has to be another way!"Casimeir closed his eyes. He was prepared for the blow to strike. He sent a silent prayer toward John for him not to worry. That everything was going to be alright. The slash of Craniamon's attack collided into Casimeir's upper torso. He had armor, sure, but it was like butter against a hot knife. Incredible, insurmountable pain coursed through the UlforceVeedramon. A gash formed in his chest plate, cracking from the pressure of the Claíomh Solais. It was as if the heat of a thousand suns combined in that one strike. Casimeir was not fully healed to begin with after the last time he put himself in harm's way for the benefit of the group, despite Shinra's best efforts. As strong-willed as Casimeir was, as much as he tried to hold it in, he finally gave up and unleashed a guttural cry of agony from the depths of his soul. With the last of the breath coming from his lungs, the Mega's form became data-like and shrank, leaving an Agumon to collapse onto the floor. John could not believe his eyes. There was no way this was happening. It couldn't be! Denial and grief-stricken, John's only thought was to get to his partner. A wetness formed in the corners of his eyes. "CASIMEIR!" he roared. No matter what, he would get to his partner's side. John ran forward, leaping off of the metal leviathan's back. His feet hit the ground hard. The shockwave shot through his legs, but he didn't care. The pain was of no concern to him. The human was small enough to not even be bothered with the Craniamon's attack arcing overhead. He pushed himself hard to sprint. John threw one arm out after the other like he was running for his life. Not like you would see people running in horror movies, jogging and looking behind them every so often, as if their lives didn't depend on it. "Brother!" Shinra shouted as well. She was the first to get to Casimeir. Alas, having little energy left, her form shifted and de-Digivolved back into Armadillomon. John finally made it. He skidded to a halt with his converse shoes scraping along the tower's floor. He fell to his knees and scooped up his partner into a cradling hold. "Cas, Cas talk to me!"Casimeir weakly opened his eyes. Those emerald irises looked into John's gaze, and he smiled lightly. "Oh good," he sighed and winced, "you're okay." Tears streamed down the Human's face, as well as Shinra's. "It's gonna be okay Cas," he spoke shakily. "Why did you do that? Why did you get in the way of the attack like that?" "Because," Casimeir answered, "I wanted to protect you and the others. I couldn't let Craniamon hurt you." The little dinosaur took a shaky breath. "You're my best friend, John. I could never let anything happen to you." Casimeir looked up toward the ceiling. "Is...This what dying feels like?""Don't talk like that!" John barked through tears. "You're not gonna die!""Hey, it'll be okay...Digimon never truly die. We become eggs and are born again. You know that.""I don't care!" John wept. The salt-filled droplets plopped onto the Agumon's face. "I don't want you to die...Please! Don't go! Don't go! Damn it, Casimeir! I love you!"The Digivice in John's cradle lit up. A blinding light poured from the screen, gold in color. The immediate area around John, Casimeir, and Shinra became soaked in the light. It was as if the epicenter became a bright sun, bright enough to rival the very one outside in the sky above. John and Casimeir's cores, their souls, began to merge. The orb of light lifted from the ground. John kept holding tightly onto his Digimon partner. He could feel it...Life was returning to the Agumon! He could feel both of their cores burning hotter and hotter! Something deep within John told him exactly what to do. Perhaps his Digivice was giving him instructions when he did not realize it. John raised his Digivice into the air. "Biomerge Activate!"Casimeir slipped out of his human partner's arms. New life and energy coursed through him. "Agumon Biomerge to...!"Human and Digimon's bodies merged together. Their forms became one, growing and expanding in golden energy. Finally, the energy dispersed, and from its cocoon a red armor-clad Digimon floated down onto the ground. This new Digimon easily stood at twenty-three feet tall in height. Crimson armor covered it from head to toe. Armor which was detailed and trimmed with gold. The very armor it wore seemed to be some kind of homage to the Greymon species of Digimon. In its right hand, lowered and to the side, it held onto a broadsword of some kind. The eyeholes showed nothing at first. But then, two cool blue eyes pierced through the darkness.
"I am one that is a testimony of the bond between human and Digimon!" a voice boomed. Those who listened could tell it was a blend of the Agumon and their Partnered Human. "I am a Digimon born from their love for one another! I am the protector of the Digital and Human worlds! I am no longer John, nor Casimeir the Agumon!" The Super Mega Digimon swung his sword across in a flashy display. "I am KaiserGreymon!"Shinra stared in utter shock and awe. "You...You two became one?!"It was no time for questions now, however. KaiserGreymon had his sights set on his enemy. Now a Super Mega, the playing field was evened out. He knew exactly what to do. With both hands, he grasped the crossguard of his bladed weapon. The sword was then aimed right at Craniamon. The very edges split from the main blade. Next, the metal of the sword was surrounded by a golden power, becoming white-hot from the incredible temperatures. "Dragonfire Crossbow Rapidfire!"Energy beam-like crossbow bolts fired off from the KaiserGreymon's sword; five in total. Each one was aimed right for the crack in Craniamon's armor. At least some of them were bound to hit their target. Actions:John and Casimeir Biomerge for the very first time into KaiserGreymon! Toki had prepared himself for the full force of Claiomh Solais' power, but to his shock, Casimeir dove forward to take a majority of the blast. The force of the attack seemed to fatally injure him, as he reverted back to Agumon. His hand trembled around his hammer as he mouthed the words "Please get up..." Under his breath, rage and fury starting to build in his core. He saw John rush forward, past the rest of the chaos in an effort to reach his dear friend and companion. He made no effort to stop this.
He stood there in stunned silence as the two shared a heartfelt moment with one another, culminating in a powerful surge of data from their bond. Through the flash of light, the new and powerful form of KaiserGreymon appeared and made themselves known as the bond between John and Casimeir. Toki smiled softly as he let go of his hammer, which disappeared as he stepped forward "Wonderful. Truly wonderful that the hardship has caused power such as this to bloom. A power born of kinship."
Toki's data surged as well, as light enveloped his form. The light burst away from his form, as a stage similar to Kenshimon appeared in his place, but with the top part of his robes missing. Shimmering starlight shined across his form as in place of a sword, greaves and gauntlets of gemstones adorned his arms and legs. His hair flowed freely as opposed to being tied back. Strange, cosmic afterimages subtly followed his movements as the spectral arms posed behind him in a variety of meditative signs "Kenshimon, Mantra Mode!"
"I stand with you!" He declared to KaiserGreymon. He took a deep breath and focused his energy "Moonblossom Style..." The images behind him start to shine brightly as Toki dashed forward behind the blasts from KaiserGreymon's attack. He attempted to use them as a distraction to close the distance between him and Craniamon before focusing his power "Celestial Mirage!" He shouted before striking at Craniamon's midsection with a well-aimed punch. Each punch felt like dozens happening one after the other as Toki began his assault in full. With every kick and punch to follow, Craniamon would be subjected to barrages from each. He ended it with on final roundhouse kick to his center before dashing back, afterimages more numerous. This would hopefully make it difficult to keep track of him for a short while.
---------
Toki changes form to Kenshimon: Mantra Mode and attacks with Moonblossom Style - Celestial Mirage.
Anger of a Gentle Soul (Passive): Kenshimon is highly protective of his allies. As such, if allies are harmed in his presence, his attack power is increased by 5% per ally damaged for his next attack to a maximum of 20%.
Moonblossom Style - Celestial Mirage: Kenshimon takes a deep breath as each of his motions are followed by several afterimages. He dives towards an enemy and begins a series of sweeping strikes. The afterimages not only make the attack hard to track, but they also have a strange mass to them. They copy each of Kenshimon’s punches and kicks with equal force, subjecting the chosen enemy to dozens of strikes in mere seconds. After this attack is used, Kenshimon is harder to hit for the next turn due to the disorienting nature of the afterimages. (4 Post Cooldown)
Cooldowns: Dance of Scattered Blossoms (3/4), Tsubame Gaeshi (3/3), Celestial Redirection (2/3), Moonblossom Style - Celestial Mirage (0/4), Nirvana (OPT, Used).

What did it matter to Shutmon that the trauma on his arms was more than he could take? This was his last-ditched effort anyway. It might have gotten him killed, even, yet it was less likely to get him killed than not doing this maneuver. When his shoulders dislocated, he bore his teeth in a grin. When the blades sunk in and started injecting that concerning purple light-goop into the wound, he laughed. "How's that tas-?" was what he had time to ask before being very easily removed and thrown. His face didn't reveal any actual panic until he was on his way down, though, and he collided with the ground so fast that there almost wasn't time for anyone else to see it. At the very least, Shutmon could preserve a little dignity.
"No!"
"Shutmon!"
He couldn't preserve the fusion. It wasn't one digimon under Craniumon's boot after that but eleven: eight of them were MetalKoromon, and the rest were a BlackTerriermon, Searchmon, and Dakota the Strabimon who made up the core of that fusion. The MetalKoromon were dented all over, and their eyes did not glow red. The Searchmon was belly-up with a single still-twitching leg. The BlackTerriermon's eyes were half-lidded and glazed over, body scraped and bruised all over. Dakota, through some miracle, was the only one with the spirit to lift his head lift his head slightly from a belly-down position and get ready to say something. Whatever that was, he went as limp as the rest before it could come out because Craniumon planted his wide foot on top of all four digimon at once.
Tadayoshi wanted to run in and pull them out, a compulsion of the sort which he didn't usually feel even in a time like this. It was a rash, emotional sort of response than which he usually expected better from himself. He didn't - he couldn't - but oh, God, he wanted to. It was only his sense of self-preservation which made him lie prone and cover his head (that, and a rising fear for his life). "Somebody help them!" There wasn't much point in shrieking that; besides the noise of the battle, his face was in the floor, which absorbed a lot of his cry. Knowing that, Yoshi fumbled to bring his digivice to his face. "Captain, you must get them out of there!"
"Ngh." GigaSeadramon was alert and ready, but he still couldn't completely evade this attack even with his nimble, slender body and long distance. Fatigue with his high level was taking its toll on him, too. It was John's intervention alone that kept a nasty whack from being a grizzly wound, and it sure wasn't the wound which had his immediate attention just then. "They've- how did they-?" GigaSeadramon was, for the first time he could remember since becoming a partnered digimon, indecisive due to surprise and confusion. This amazing turn of events was a boon, yes, but also... a complication.
The captain was awestruck as these two unquestionably superior digimon - and one human of the same adjectives - both continued the battle undaunted. John and Casimeir (was it still even proper to refer to them as separate entities?) counterattacked. Toki matched him. GigaSeadramon... couldn't. He was experiencing the same compulsion as Tadayoshi, to pull each of the wounded digimon free from their jeopardy, chaos of battle be damned. For once, GigaSeadramon was being forced to reckon with the same thing as Tadayoshi: that he didn't belong in that position. It wounded his soul more than Craniumon could ever wound his body to admit it, but... "...Negative."
"They're gonna be-!"
"-I can't protect you! And if I should fail trying... I can't protect any of you." This conversation was happening over open comms, which meant anyone listening on them could hear it without a problem.
Tadayoshi couldn't accept it. This sort of defeat, it was almost as bad as falling in battle. Defeat by inferiority was something the boy was unwilling to accept. If there were ever a time to pull an ace out of his sleeve... it was now. If he - if the army, the team - wasn't strong enough now, of all times, to reach new heights, then it might be never. The attempt to come, then, wasn't a noble act of heroism or demonstration of courage; it was a matter of desperation, the only possibility left to exhaust.
Over his frustrated growling, a voice said, "I know what you're thinking, General." It was Hagurumon from within the Loader, still fresh for the battle. "I'm scared, but... I will."
"Are-
"-we-"
"-gonna-"
"-do-"
"-the-"
"-thing?" Those were the six Missimon siblings, sounding much more excited about the prospect than Hagurumon.
"We will save our friends." Jetmon wasn't psyching herself up; that was a simple statement of fact.
"If it goes wrong-" hedged one Rocketmon, Jekyll.
"-Shut up and get ready," hushed his eager brother.
"Yoshi-Yoshi! I'm ready!" Of course that Rukamon wasn't scared. Rashi didn't know how to be.
"GigaSeadramon. Hagurumon. Missimon. Jetmon. Rocketmon. Rukamon. All, standby." It wasn't that these fusions had never been attempted before, but they were always too unstable to hold. Rare combinations produced more stable results, but those had never lasted long enough to be practical... yet. Yoshi declared weakly, but with conviction, "...Digi-Xros."
They did. All of those prior mentioned digimon flew out of the digivice toward GigaSeadramon, where he seemed to take them inside of himself. The great serpent began to shine and morph and ominously grow. It looked spectacular all the way until the moment it didn't; the fusion attempt was abruptly disrupted. With a spark, then a boom, what remained of the attempt was all the newly introduced digimon scattered around the floor, plus Commandramon and Deckerdramon, the digimon who were GigaSeadramon. "Oh, God."
"Scatter!" Jetmon might have saved some lives by being the one quick enough to shout, because left in the wake of this xros attempt was a numerous but ultimately useless force of rookie digimon. Like cockroaches under a light, they sought their nearest cover so as not to be squished like cockroaches by the titanic battle around them.
"What happened?"
"But I thought-"
"Head down!"
"Lieutenant!"
It was chaos.
"We didn't...- Davis. Casimeir. Toki." Tadayoshi, disheartened, craned his head to watch his side fall apart. He was forced to acknowledge "You are... truly stronger than us."
Shutmon was wounded by Craniumon's attack.Shutmon defused. Dakota, Angel, all the MetalKoromon, and Kamushi are all unconscious. GigaSeadramon digi-xrossed with Hagurumon, the Missimon, Jetmon, Jekyll and Hyde, and Rashi. The fusion was too unstable to hold. GigaSeadramon defused to Commandramon and Deckerdramon.

One last push.
Right now, that was what the Craniamon saw this desperate effort from his foes before him. One remained shattered under his foot, and another failed to even reach the level to challenge him outright. The crimson knight, through impressive in stature, was little more than the desperate struggles of the Digimon underneath, and Toki, changing forms from breath to breath, might soon feel the strain of trying to keep up his barrage of defensive and aggressive options.
As Kenshimon made his approach, and as those energy bolts were prepared, the Craniamon knew that this was the best moment to stifle their efforts. Both hands once more clasped around the spear, a powerful golden aura building up around the knight. But, as soon as that aura built up, it seemed to vanish in a 'snap', the wounds inflicted by the Shutmon giving a nasty spark in protest.
A mis-fire? The Craniamon did not posture itself to dodge. After all, why would it when its ultimate shield could have absorbed the blow? Those molten bolts would hit home in rapid succession, that purple armor quickly turning into a searing red at the point of impact - and Kenshimon would be able to close the distance. Not braced to defend himself, the metal knight would feel the weight of each blow directly against its midsection, further shattering the machine's armor stressed by the prior cracks and the intense heat. The pressure on those weakened Digimon underfoot would be relieved as the Knight was forced back against the wall.
Data leaked from Craniamon's chest, as he fell to a knee, supporting himself on his spear. In that moment, the flow of the battle had clearly shifted - all thanks to the efforts of the general and his team, who had all but lost faith in those prior moments.
It took effort, but the knight once more rose to his feet, eyes locked not on the Kenshimon, not on the KaiserGreymon, and not even on the GigaSeadramon. No: it was to that device in the center of the room, sending its signal right to the tip of the tower.
And, wordlessly, the knight stomped forth. There was no posture to attack, but the motion was made without regard for anyone else in this crowded room, as if the machine expected them to simply 'get out of the way'.

Toki was beginning to feel the strain of his constant mode changes and slide evolutions. He panted, vision blurred despite his efforts to stay steady and standing. The Craniamon's cracked and battered form was the result of a bloody battle between it and the group standing before it. Such inspiring strength, and now that strength seemed to be pushing it to do something else. It simply marched forward, and Toki stood to the side out of respect.
He kept a strong presence, but if this wasn't over soon he might push himself beyond what he was capable of. "From one warrior to another...you have my respect." He bowed respectfully. He asked nothing else from Craniamon. He had a feeling he knew what it was up to. All he wanted for Craniamon was for it to hear acknowledgement of its strength, both physical and mental.
Toki looked up at KaiserGreymon and offered them a kind smile "You two have formed the ultimate bond between human and Digimon. A true bridge of friendship between humanity and the Digimon. Together, your power is capable of amazing things, just as you've displayed today. I am honored to see this culmination of spirit and camaraderie."
He paused and looked at the state of Tadayoshi's team. The battle had taken a toll on everyone, but his team had suffered the most. Their energy was gone and there was no way they would be able to continue fighting in this state. Toki opted to stand next to Tadayoshi and his team in the event they needed help, but right now they seemed more emotionally crushed than physically. For once, he didn't really know what to say. Anything now might come across as condescending or dismissive. All he could do was hope that Tadayoshi could pick himself up and push himself to reach new heights alongside his Digimon. "Tend to them...and rest for a while. You all deserve it." Was all he would say to the captain. He hoped those words would soothe the pain at least a little, but there were things that just needed time.
He kept an eye on Craniamon all the while. Whatever was going to happen next, they would all need to be prepared to react. He looked at Datamon "If you can contact Mistymon now, you probably should. We may need a swift exit soon."

KaiserGreymon's eyes remained on the Craniamon as the Holy Knight was forced to his knee, only supported by the weapon he held in his hand. The Crimson-armored Digimon felt elated. Finally, it looked like the battle had reached the end of its chapter. Through all of the hardship endured by the team, there was now a big payoff. Craniamon had been defeated.
Or so they thought. The Craniamon struggled to stand. KaiserGreymon brandished his sword in response. Had they not had enough? But it quickly became apparent that the Holy Knight Digimon had no desire to continue the fight. It trudged forward to the center of the room.
Hesitantly, the KaiserGreymon lowered his blade. He first turned slightly to observe the status of the others. Tadayoshi's team was out for the count. Toki was still in his Super Mega form, but straining to not collapse.
"I'm proud of every single one of you," KaiserGreymon confided. He would have outwardly smiled back to Toki if his mouth were even visible. "And thank you for your kind words, Toki. I knew this was possible...For John and Casimeir to fuse into one being...I just never thought it would happen today."
He stepped to the side to let the Craniamon pass, but out of concern, he moved to put a hand to the Holy Knight's shoulder. "Are you free from the Tower's Control? Can you tell us anything you might know? Where this Tower came from? What its purpose is? Are you the Holy Knight?"

Most of Silence was not in a position to hear any words of praise. They seemed to wordlessly agree that it wasn't yet safe for them all, and for that reason they gave Craniumon's path a wide berth. Tadayoshi couldn't gather the sense to get himself out of the way, but Commandramon had the cognizance to tug on the boy's arm, which partly moved him but more importantly helped him get his head back in the moment so he could move himself. There were many seconds between himself and being in danger, but with an ant like him in the presence of a titan like that he thought there might not have been anywhere in the desert that was safely far from him. He strikes down our strongest fighters like nothing, and then he abandons the battle? That was the most confusing part.
The explanation of broken mind control did account for this change in behavior, but that didn't mean it was true. If it were, wouldn't the giant say so or show any signs of self-awareness at all? The boy was still so unsure... but then, that was the feeling of the day, it seemed.
"Now's our chance!" the cry of he Jetmon declared.
"Talon, to me!" Commandramon responded, referring to the team's 'air force' by its shorthand name. This was not, as the two digimon in the conversation knew, a rallying cry for further offense. This was the signal for those digimon to break for their fallen comrades and start administering aid. To Toki the captain asked in a somewhat less authoritative tone, "Please watch him for me," meaning Tadayoshi. The request was perhaps still a little curt, but Commandramon intended that only for the sake of time. That was so the soldier could join Jetmon, the Rocketmon twins, and the six Missimon in seeing to the wounded. "The rest of you, standby!" He had to make this fast as possible, he thought, because there was no telling what Craniumon was just about to do. He only shared Toki's suspicions.
But Tadayoshi was there to catch it all. The dejected boy wanted to sit and reflect a while, but he was reminded this place wasn't safe and so was back to standing erect. One hand clutched tightly around a Loader, and the other clutched the opposite upper arm while his eyes were fixed on Craniumon. "...I'll do better." For all the power that statement should have held, it was contradictorily mumbled without conviction. Also noticeable, if one bothered to listen for it, was the singular case.
"How is he?"
"Critical, stable. As the core he took the brunt of it."
"Angel is alright, I think. Just needs to rest."
"That's a shame."
"I heard that."
"Bloody- she's conscious!"
Whack.
The same did not hold true for Dakota the Strabimon, Kamushi the Searchmon, or the cluster of MetalKoromon. None of them were moving under their own power soon. It was Jetmon's job to carry the little magnets on her body back toward Tadayoshi while the twins shared the load that was Searchmon. As for Dakota, it took the combined efforts of the fatigued Commandramon and the herself-wounded BlackTerriermon make slow progress with the wolf digimon. "Don't push yourself too hard. Your injuries are still grave."
Angel rolled her eyes and spat. "Don't start pretending you care now, hero."
The captain glared back at her, deliberated within himself for a beat, and, came back with, "Perhaps one day you will stop pretending you don't." Of course, he wasn't a fool; Commandramon knew the day Angel grew a conscience was long and far off. But here she was aiding an ally without being told to, and besides that fact she was a part of Shutmon. She had done well.
But this business with Craniumon was still very foreboding to Tadayoshi. It was the fact that he hadn't spoken earlier that spooked him. "What are you doing?" seemed to be the important question nobody had asked. He repeated himself just after, "What are you going to do?"

'He strikes down our strongest fighters like nothing, and then he abandons the battle?'
If Datamon could hear it, he would fully agree with that silent thought. Though Toki showed his regards and the KaiserGreymon settled his hand on the Craniamon's shoulder, it would become increasingly clear that the fake Knight's mannerisms were completely off. Toki's compliment went without acknowledgement, and the dragon knight's 'assuring' hand was brushed right off, as the Knight limped right towards the center of the room, right towards that odd beam of light.
With little pretense or warning, the Craniamon tightened his grasp onto that spear, the Claíomh Solais, and forced the tip of the spear towards the glass lens at the top of the room. The first strike glanced off of a barrier, forcing the knight to double-down, a still-impressive mass of holy energy coursing right through the weapon.
"Wait..." The realization kicked in at that moment, the Datamon calling out towards the rest of the group: "I hate to tell you this NOW," especially with Silence's team still scattered around the room, "but we gotta move. Down, as many floors as we can!"
The Craniamon's spear struck upwards again, striking once more at the barrier - and this time, the shock could be felt, the shockwave of the Kngiht's attack resonating throughout the entire tower.
Something had ticked the Knight off. And whether this was a desperate attempt to take the rest of the group down with him, or a revolt against his controller or creator, the Datamon didn't care: "I don't want to be here when this place blows sky-high! Let's move it!"

This was a short time of respite, but it was greatly appreciated possibly by everyone. KaiserGreymon was about to help the fallen Rookies to their feet after speaking to the False Holy Knight. But the Craniamon had no intentions of exchanging words. he even threw his shoulder to free it of KaiserGreymon's caring touch. And onward it trudged to the center of the room.
And what did it do once it got to that beam of light, what he assumed was raw Data? The Craniamon began to act oddly, with a single purpose. He trusted his spear at the beam itself. And KaiserGreymon's heart felt like it dropped once he realized what the foe was trying to do.
Datamon realized this as well. He frantically attempted to get everyone in the room to evacuate and escape whatever destruction the Craniuamon intended to bring to the tower itself. But KaiserGreymon didn't agree with this plan. They came here to discover what this tower's purpose was, and who was behind it all. To him, things were not making complete sense.
Datamon had the ability to prevent mechanical Digimon on the team from becoming corrupted by whatever controlled those in the tower. Datamon's advice and instructions did not always hit home with accuracy. This was fishy to KaizerGreymon. But without any solid proof, he could not point any fingers.
With a heavy grunt, the Crimson Knight embedded his blade into the ground. "Nine-Headed Dragon Array!"
Eight fissures split the ground beneath it from the blade's position. And from each fissure, golden fire came to life; the eight dragon's veins. The veins then took the form of firey dragons, and each one snaked through the air to collide with Craniamon and attempt to restrain him while dealing their damage. KaiserGreymon thus became engulfed in this golden fire as well, becoming the ninth dragon. He pulled his blade from the floor, brandished it, and then charged Craniamon in hopes of reaching him before he made any more strikes to the Tower's energy core. With a warcry, the Crimson Knight Super Mega shoved his sword forward in a gamble to pierce it straight through the false Holy Knight Digimon.
"Forgive me," KaiserGreymon spoke mournfully, his ice-blue eyes filled with sadness and regret. "You fought valiantly and for that, you have my respect, Craniamon. Please...Find peace and return to the Village of Beginnings. Start your life anew, free of anyone's control. Maybe one day we will meet again not as enemies, but as friends."
Actions: KaiserGreymon targets Craniamon with Nine-Headed Dragon Array!
Nine-Headed Dragon Array- KaiserGreymon stabs his blade into the ground. Then, eight of the dragon's veins are summoned from eight fissures that form around the epicenter of the blade. These energy-based dragons strike and grapple their foe before KaiserGreymon becomes the ninth dragon himself; surrounded by golden flames, and charges his enemy with his sword to finish the technique. Something bothered Toki. These weren't the actions of someone attempting to break free of control...this was a last ditch effort! He stumbled as the mighty strike Craniamon delivered to the barrier shook the room and the very tower's foundations. It was trying to destroy everything! Any evidence would be wiped away in the cataclysmic collapse. Whoever was masterminding this whole disaster would get away with a clean slate and the group would be just as in the dark about the situation next time.
Before he had a chance to do anything, KaiserGreymon took the initiative and sent a barrage of fiery dragons to collide and restrain the Craniamon before they could attack again. Toki figured that this was best left to KaiserGreymon's judgement. This was his moment and he trusted this decision, so much so that he stood there, arms crossed as he awaited the outcome. The mission was not to defeat Digimon on this tower. It was to find its source and mastermind, and there was no way he was about to let whoever did this go free. He wondered, however, if the mastermind was closer than they realized.
He glanced down at Datamon and would gauge his reaction to KaiserGreymon's decision. He would hate to be distrustful of someone involved with the team, but it wouldn't be the first time such a thing happened. Though why organize this sort of mission in the first place then? This whole scenario could go either way at this point, though for the time being the group had to wait until this attack went through and either continue their investigation or retreat. Deep down he hoped that they were all making the right decision.

"There's no time!" Tadayoshi retorted back at Datamon, "Someone, stop him!" Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately - it was too soon to tell), someone made an attempt. Tadayoshi and Toki were evidently right! Craniumon wasn't acting like a mind with its own will would be. Tadayoshi didn't think he could quickly flee with his team still rallying, especially not with many of them non-ambulatory. Thank God KaiserGreymon was so fast to act, but that didn't mean the choice it made - it, they, whatever the appropriate pronoun was - was easy to witness. The boy averted his eyes from the attempted execution.
"Ghuglh- ghrrg," was among the unpleasant, certainly involuntary noises that helped distract the general from his helpless state. He wasn't sure if it was supposed to be good or bad to hear Dakota the Strabimon making those pained noises because it meant he was suffering but also, indeed, conscious.
"Keep still." Commandramon was on his knees by one of the wolf's sides with one arm pinning his head down while the other was just ripping out the needle he'd jabbed into Dakota's upper arm. Of course, that was just a painkiller, one that was certainly fast-acting and as strong as it needed to be, but it wouldn't magically heal either the minor cuts and bruises all over or the awful mistreatment of his neck. A special glowing salve's job was to take care of the former, and as for the latter... "Bite down on this," was Tadayoshi's cue to turn his attention elsewhere yet again.
"Sir!" Jetmon barked that call to Tadayoshi as she landed at his feet. She was the last to arrive there, too, as those who were part of the botched xros had reunited beside him partly with her prodding. "We still need an escape!" Tadayoshi didn't question the logic of this; there was still no guarantee the tower would survive the punishment it had already taken.
"Yes, OK." But the fastest way Tadayoshi could see out of this place was not the very long way down, as Datamon had suggested, but rather up: an aerial escape. It should have been no trouble for one of these ultra strong digimon to make a sizeable hole if it became necessary, in which case... "Everyone besides Commandramon, Deckerdramon, and Hagurumon, pull back." Simultaneously, almost all of the digimon indicated followed orders and came back into the outstretched digivice. There was only one holdout, who would cover the loader with his paw help Tadayoshi point it downward instead of outward. "D-Dakota?"
"Don't push me too hard after that," the wolf-boy breathed, "But the doc's cleared me for duty. Lemme see us through." The Strabimon made a compelling argument, and not just in his words; he was standing upright and erect without any limp or weakness Tadayoshi could spot for himself. The boy's eyes met Commandramon's, just behind Dakota, for further counsel, and the soldier answered the eye contact without any sign of either protest or agreement. In that case, the General thought it better not to waste time on arguing.
"Deckerdramon, Hagurumon, please stay ready. Helomon might be our fastest escape." Commandramon fully revived Dakota with Field Medicine. -Field Medicine: This digimon uses its own medical supplies to heal itself or another. The target gains about 33% of the average rookie's maximum health. Outside of combat, this ability may be used to fully heal this digimon or an ally quickly between fights. Cooldown: 4 posts.

Understandably, everything soon devolved into chaos.
No-one had all of the information yet, and truthfully, the Datamon didn't know if there would be enough time to cleanly evacuate. Toki was momentarily uncertain, but KaiserGreymon was quick to act on the Craniamon's efforts - and Tadayoshi and Team Silence were just as quick to encourage him.
The Datamon himself gave a 'tsk' at what had unfolded. Was this the right thing to do? Was the Craniamon acting on its own, or was it acting on the command of the tower? "Damn it... we're going to have to split our efforts, then." He just had to trust that the two Super-Mega level Digimon could handle the Knight in the meantime. As the floor and the walls continued to shake, the Datamon moved near the General, the computerized mind behind the glass casing starting to glow as the machine started to scan the perimeter. The machine type soon pointed to an area on the north side of the room:
"No major supports there. Ten meters to the right of the 'down' ramp." The Datamon nodded: "That'll be our escape point. Right now, I doubt our fight up here's gone unnoticed by the city..." The Craniamon might have been wounded - and he might have given up the earlier fight - but he was by no means down for the count.
As those eight dragons soared towards him, the Knight took notice - and with a wide swing of his blade, immediately cut through three of the oncoming, serpentine heads. The remaining five did manage to grasp around the Knight, restraining his movement, both preventing him from striking at the center further, and drawing his attention away from the beam.
Sparks flew in the next moment - KaiserGreymon's blade met right with the middle of the spear, Craniamon supporting the blade in both arms, keeping the two in gridlock. Sparks hissed from the Knight's wounds - and, finally, the Knight spoke.
"Get it out of my head. Get it out. Get it OUT!" He gave a push, trying to distance himself from the KaiserGreymon. Something so powerful, so overwhelming, so 'troublesome'...
... Seemed to be little more than a puppet of this tower.
