From an outsider's perspective, their wishes and eagerness to fulfill them were likely considered rash and improvident. Admittedly, it was hard to blame those who judged the relatively young feline and the almost immemorial vulpine for their zest and indulgence of their passion. However, and Cion was utterly ingenuous about this - confident that Syre was likewise candid - such voices of dissent were of no concern to her anymore. Though it was recent, she had finally understood that life was too precious to be limited by pointless dilatoriness. She knew precisely what she wanted, hence she acted upon it with good grace. Besides, the unassuming fox had made her dearly beloved an implicit promise, and the mere notion of letting her down was completely unacceptable. And if she got something out of this venture as well then why not pursue it diligently? On these grounds did the silver fennec and the onyx cat traverse the streets of Terminus' so-called upper crust - in search for a place to call their home. Financial means were hardly an issue considering their vocations, canniness and her negotiating skills, but it were a couple of details were their preferences deviated. Naturally, Cion's initial choices had either been Rosewood or Whitewater due to their overall lack of a criminal underground, but avowedly most places were superior to a jet's cockpit. Nothing against her colleague Vertigo, but she missed the cozy sensation of an actual bed. Moreover, she grasped whence Syre's point of view came. Within the walls of this metropolis, there was indeed always an activity to do; be they pleasurable or financially suasive. Perhaps the other options were too distant from everyday life and its struggles. Nonetheless, no clear decisions was determined as of yet. There was no reason in rushing anyway. With plenty of pamphlets at her disposal, and their paws hopefully entwined, the duo leisurely trod the summerly bustling roads of the higher society. The radiant, azure sky served to accentuate the architectural beauty of this locality, not to mention its variance. From classic manors to state-of-the-art residences - everything was represented. The atmosphere in general was different from the outer districts of the capital city. Peace of mind and neighborly friendship seemed ubiquitous. The reasons why were of course obvious. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant sense of harmony which she appreciated. "So..." The petite lady broke their dreamy silence as her aureate eyes shifted to meet and savor the amber ones of her kittenishly comely partner. She had to be careful as to not loose herself within them, but it confessedly was a nearly impossible challenge. "... which of the three thus far did you prefer? I personally like the lakeside bijou villa, but the detached house adjacent to the park has its merits, too." She calmly stated her impressions as of yet. Self-evidently their undertaking was far from over, but already culling their favorites did not hurt, right?

Ah, house hunting!
What had started a few weeks ago as a mere thought had blossomed into today's outing. Though Syre didn't entirely mind bouncing between the Knights of the Rose base and the log cabin up in Snowflake City, Syre still wanted to have her own place to settle down. The northern home had become a little bit more crowded, after all, and with the often-odd hours that Syre found herself coming home, she found it difficult not to trip over one schedule or another.
More than that, though? This was an arrangement that would allow her to see Cion a lot more often, more than just as a guest in the homely northern abode. The more Syre sat on the idea, the more she wanted to have a place to call their own! And so they arranged a meeting with a realtor, and started to pour through the pamphlets and the like to see just what their options were, primarily in Terminus or Whitewater. At times they walked hand-in-hand, but at others they had to look through the properties carefully, and consider what advantages, adjustments, and concessions would have to be made for each one.
This was how Syre and Cion found each-other at a bench, just outside of a coffee shop in the upper-end of Terminus. The BlackGatomon gave a smile, looking to Cion from the corner of her eye, as she folded up the current pamphlet she was holding. "Glad we're on the same page that the 'cute little brick house' would be a nightmare to fix up... never seen such a crack in the floor..." Chuckling at that, the feline found herself bouncing between the two options put before her. There was so much to consider: price, location, amenities, purchasing versus renting?
"Between those two, I'd definitely say the lakehouse is the one I'm leaning towards - though, I'll note that both of 'em aren't really equipped for... 'rookie-sized' Digimon." Adjusting the kitchen would take some work, but the real kicker was the stairs. Floating up and down was one thing, but eventually, clambering up and down those full-sized steps would be a real chore!
"That said, if we want to get either of those, we'd have to put an offer or application in today. Can't imagine something like that would stick around long... hm." Flipping over to the next brochure, she'd tip a picture over to Cion. "What about something like this, in the city itself?"
Their options there were far more modern - and perhaps 'compact' - but they could get up to a full floor to themselves! "Looks like we'd own the flat, but would still have to pay for amenities... hm. Guess its a matter of if we'd use 'em at all." The cat would chuckle, and offer the pamphlet to Cion to look over. "You up for looking at something modern like this?"

Ah yes... the so-called brick house that merely required a spark of love to be back into proper shape. Of the many rackets Cion had witnessed and occasionally participated in, this one in particular had to rank in the top 5 most blatant and barefaced. Nonetheless, she took no insult in such an opportunistic effrontery and managed to chuckle heartily alongside Syre as they browsed the pamphlets for future tours they intended to undertake. "But we gotta give it credit. It gave the gorges of the Dark Area a run for their money." She jested with an impish grin. Admittedly, she loved ironic humor.
Dropping the subject for more important matters, the silver fennec too was carefully considering the benefits and downsides of the estates they had visited thus far. Both were splendid in appearance, location and condition, but they indeed were not optimal for their typically small frames. And while she was not concerned with the sentiment of utilizing her levitation frequently to traverse either of them on a daily basis, she had to agree that their layout and design was simply not ideal. Naturally, they could assume larger statures through digivolution, but this was not favored. The duo apparently enjoyed being endearingly adorable mammals.
"Aye." The unassuming fox responded calmly yet firmly as she folded her arms softly. Biting her lower lip weakly, she truly attempted to not be affected by the time pressure at all, but this was easier said than done - even for someone versed in the arts of professional trade in its innumerable shapes and sizes. They of course should not rush, but missing out on these opportunities would be a real shame. The current crises, as terrible as they were, granted them an economical buffer, but it would hardly last for long. The economy was without doubt a fickle construct.
Nevertheless, her dearly beloved was not hesitant to grant other possible homes a fair chance. Looking at the pages she was requested to skim, she beheld the images of the flat. The fact that it was located closer to the downtown displeased her for self-evident reasons, but it concededly was spacious and already fully equipped with modern accommodations. But did it provide the tranquil and serene togetherness they desired? "Hmm... okay, I'm game. But we'll keep a keen eye on the neighborship, agreed?" She asked in a more or less rhetorical way, confident that her darling would prefer peaceful and quiet neighbors as well.

Ah, yes, the stresses of the hunt! Where the prices never quite matched the label, where the strength of financing might be questioned because of the two of them having unstable 'mercenary work', and where, despite all of their best efforts, there was a chance that the property could 'vanish' or dry up in front of them. Syre was aware of all of these risks, but really, all they could do was press forward and try and get their paperwork out to the realtor by the end of the day.
Indeed, the thought of a city apartment didn't entirely sit well with Cion, but it was a matter of preference! The black cat gave a smile, and a quick half-hug around Cion's shoulders, as she consented to giving a look at the apartment. "Of course. Half the point of getting a flat like that's to be in the city, so if the locale isn't any good, there's little point." She'd chuckle, and flip through the remaining pamphlets in her hands. "That said, I think we'll get a good idea of any of the properties themselves, just by looking at one of them." A slight disadvantage of the 'ritzy modern style', ironically, lied in its design. The newer the place, the more 'samey' they would look compared to each-other.
But that didn't mean that it would be bad, either! With a smile, Syre would stand up: "Let's take a walk there and around the block first, then?" Half the battle here was location - and in Syre's opinion, this wasn't a bad place at all.
It wasn't 'dead in the center' of Terminus, and was far away from the main market district (and, thankfully, Infinity Colosseum was clear on the other side of the city!). But, out in the residential district in the west end, the pair could quickly see the practical nature and design of everything here.
Restaurants. A small corner grocery store. A post office, and small specialty shops crammed between the lot of 'em. Out here, there was no doubt that the two of them were in the thick of the city: there were no homes nor families in sight, and everyone seemed to be on the grindstone rather than relaxing. Then again, everything was in reach: the theater was two blocks down, the Trailmon stations weren't that far off, and the two wouldn't be hurting for options of modern cuisine, from either restaurants or food trucks.
This city was definitely the most 'human' one in the Digital World - an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on their taste! Syre had a smile on her lips, but was also mindful of Cion's reactions, keeping an ear open for her comments. As they would turn to enter the housing complex itself, they would walk in through a revolving door.
And the moment they slipped in, the sound of the city fell away, replaced with the simple sound of a fountain running in the middle of the lobby. It was a spacious common area, with a welcome and help desk in the back. The two floors above them held the common amenities. Per the brochure, the two of them would be looking at the sixth floor, for themselves!
"Well... shall we?"
There wasn't a certainty to the tone of Syre's question, there. It was really up to the both of them, if they liked this place!

Criminy... was a hug truly all that was needed for Syre to sway her spirit? It appeared as such, given that Cion's previous misgivings had vanished instantly due to her act of affection. Or perhaps it was her partner's approval to be attentive that eased her mind? Yeah... the latter explanation was far more fitting for the sophisticated lady of grace than the former, hence she declared it as fact within her subconsciousness. Nonetheless, she gladly admitted that their embraces were among the most wonderful pleasantries of their relationship. She simply had a fondness for caresses, and who could blame her for that?
Quietly listening to her darling's voiced thoughts, she briefly considered the notion of a good first impression through vision alone. There was merit to this idea, especially since they were somewhat pressed for time, but rashness was nevertheless ill-advised. Even if they did not find a suitable home today, it was a better outcome than regret originating from a mistake. But... there she was again, lost in her concerns. Shaking her head to cast them aside, the unassuming fox nodded firmly and smiled confidently. "Indeed! Let us proceed."
It did not take long for the duo to reach the outskirts of their destination, which already sufficed for them to gain an adequate prospect of the environment at hand. It was, to put it simple, a shopping street, but titanic in scope and consisting of multiple plazas - not unlike historic districts, though quite modern in their design. And admittedly, it was true that every conceivable establishment was present. From restaurants to entertainment to bureaucratic institutions. Everything essential, and then some, was here... and so was the atmosphere, which was thick as smog. Self-evidently, this quarter was not optimal for families, not to mention children.
Raising her eyebrow slightly while continuing to softly bite her lowly lip, Cion was openly expressing skepticism. She wanted to give this area and her dearly beloved's wishes a chance, and she sincerely did, but neither could she just deny her mild unease. It was a very human location, verily so, but this was not solely to its benefit. "Hmm..." Escaped her lips - more a noise of minor displeasure than an actual statement. Without doubt she still had to attune herself to this setting. Fortunately, she had time to do so. Moreover... Syre seemed so content with it.
Entering the specified complex adjacent to the bustling roads, the silver fennec's large ears peaked almost abruptly. The daily hullabaloo... it was as if it was sealed beyond the revolving door. The tranquility was balm to her soul, and the air-conditioning system's work certainly was pleasant to the skin beneath her fur. It was then that her aureate eyes finally beheld the surprisingly presentable furniture of the lobby. The whole interior was akin to a luxury hotel. "Uh... sure." She responded, somewhat stumbling over her words which undoubtedly was a rare faux pas for her. She was visibly intrigued and open-minded about this, in spite of her initial reservations. "After you, hun."

Of course, there were definite disadvantages to this setting.
For one, with something like this, it was next to impossible to get the same sense of community or camaraderie that one would get in a suburban setting. In hand with that, Syre would have to agree that it was not the best place to raise children - though the thought itself might bring a blush right to the black cat's face. The city was just that: impersonal, closely related to the grindstone, and despite the hustle and bustle of it all, perhaps one could truly feel alone all the way out here. That wasn't to say that there was nothing of the sort to be had at the city, of course, but it would be harder to find.
Syre could feel Cion's silent discontent, and kept her own praise for the area under wraps for the moment. This was going to have to be something they would have to discuss, but it seemed like this would just be a bust... that was, until Cion made her first steps into the lobby. A lobby that acted like an oasis, a point of calm amidst the chaotic noise of the city. The BlackGatomon found herself giving a smile at that, and with Cion's go-ahead, the feline would step up to the desk, and ask to see the room on the sixth floor. The two would be given a key, and would head right up the elevator to the sixth floor. One short ride later, and they would find 'their' floor. Just outside the elevator was a small hall, containing a seldom used washing machine, an ice machine, and a door to Room 601.
The BlackGatomon would scan the key, and step on in, her eyes brightening up as she took the first step onto the hardwood. This?
This was much unlike the 'homely villas' that the two had seen in the morning. One word for it was 'sterile', another 'refined', but every inch of this place was respectfully modern. A kitchen area to the left - with sturdy-looking pull-outs to help with smaller chefs; a large living area in front of them, as well as a small bedroom off to the left and even a master bedroom off to the right.
And the view, off the far wall! Six floors up, the road below seemed so far away - and though the view would lack the expanse of the lake, they did have an overview of the nearby theater, including the outdoor set!
"Heh..." Syre tried to restrain her positivity for this place, but with a small blush on her cheeks, it was clear that she at least liked what she saw on the first pass! "Its... um... smaller than the other places..." Syre conceded that much, but almost came out stammering. "But barely anything we'd have to change at all! Would stand to have a darker curtain, maybe, but... hm..."
... Was this the right choice for them? Syre wanted to say yes, oh-so-much - but her's wasn't the only taste to consider!

With her partner taking the lead, Cion claimed the time and focus to take in the marvelous environment they had found themselves in. Though the sour taste the urban fringe had left her with had not ceased completely, this figurative oasis' crystal clear waters managed to wash away most of her reservations. It was true that it did not quite reflect her imagination and preferences, but it self-evidently was not bad at all. If their immediate neighbors, who certainly had to be affluent to live in this state-of-the-art flat, shared her desire for a tight-knit community, then few things spoke against it.
Following the retrieval of their temporary key and the impressively quick ride with the elevator, the endearing duo stepped towards the entrance of their apartment. "Room 6-0-1..." The silver fennec whispered, apparently in an attempt to get a good feeling for this name. Faintly shaking her head, she concluded that it did not sound too shabby. Softly shrugging and folding her arms, she trod inside alongside Syre to behold their potential home's modern elegancy - and what a stupendous sight to view it was for the both of them.
"Woah..." She let out quietly in her obvious pursuit of maintaining her poise and calm. Nonetheless, what they had in front of them was nothing short of amazing. This had to be 200 m² of already furnished, undoubtedly refined gracious living. Pacing into its center, the unassuming fox gazed at everything there was so see. The dark hardwood floor, the ivory walls and ceiling, the gargantuan windows enabling a seldom enjoyed vista, the spacious kitchen and parlor... heck, even the multiple bedrooms of varying sizes and the bathroom were rivaling those of hotels with a manifold of stars.
Naturally keeping her inner sereneness, her aureate eyes eventually fell upon the onyx feline who was far more occupied with marveling at the interior design than her. Smiling weakly, she tilted her muzzle away from her, seemingly lost in thought. As much as her darling tried, the pleasant anticipation was, metaphorically speaking, annealed into her face. Despite her trying to voice faults, the inflections of her tone and body were without ambiguity. Chuckling once, Cion nevertheless acknowledged her statements and recognized them as accurate. It was slightly less commodious than the houses they had visited before, but little effort on their part was required to furnish and maintain it. Two signatures and they were set.
"Hmm..." She let out, which was followed by a long yet hushed sigh. With a dreamy simper, she looked at her dearly beloved and the joy she radiated. The least she could do was to beat around the bush a little. "...I was thinking anyway. Perhaps investing into our own house, as proficient as I am in negotiating, would be too rash and cost-intensive... and I've always enjoyed the ease of our relationship. Even if we change our minds later, canceling the contract for this fine residence will hardly be an issue - and give or take 3000 bits, ancillary expenses included, is a steal, right?"
A flick of her fluffy tail and shoulders indicated a certain playfulness to her explications. Regardless, she impishly beckoned Syre with a single finger to come closer, preferably to nestle up against her. "I'd say a daily cuddle and kiss fee might fully convince me." She declared with a big, somewhat toothy grin. It was utterly evident that she was merely teasing the comely cat, but why not? Their bond had a foundation of fun and games, with genuine affection serving to strengthen the link. So why not nurture and savor both? "Would those terms be acceptable?"

It was definitely a sight to behold. And if Cion was impressed by the showing, Syre found herself absolutely smitten with it.
It was hard for the BlackGatomon to keep the excitement off of her face, either! She knew that the fennec didn't prefer the setting, she knew the glint that Cion had in her eyes when looking at the lakeside house, and she knew that she should be open for discussion - but she just loved this place! Syre loved the size, the accessible furnishings, the kitchen that they could just walk up and use with little hassle.
No stairs, no fuss, no repair, and a gorgeous view of the city. Loathe as she was to say it, it was going to be hard to try and peel Syre away from this place. It was hard for Syre to reign in her enthusiasm, and Cion could already see it on Syre's face.
Thankfully, Cion seemed to like the place as well. At least, well enough to consider meeting her halfway on it! "Heh... yeah, I guess that's true, too. Worse case, if it doesn't work out, we run out the lease term and we're back to where we are now. No giant loans or financing to wrestle, either." It would be expensive, sure, but also relatively low risk, and perhaps that's the perspective that would convince Cion to at least try this out.
... Or, maybe it was the fact that she'd be sharing the experience with someone else. Seeing the flick of that tail and the beckoning of that finger, Syre found herself blinking. That blank response was soon replaced with a blush, a smile, and an almost exhausted sigh, as she stepped closer to the fennec. Her forehead would press against the fox's, a single arm moving around the Arniomon. Her lips pressed right up against Cion's, the next few moments dominated by their kiss.
Pulling back, the cat would nod.
"Welcome home, Cion."

Post by Cion on Jul 1, 2020 18:45:51 GMT
Was that... exasperation she witnessed? Cion was not all too sure given Syre's sigh, but her reaction was certainly not what she had been anticipating. She had looked forward to tears of joy, squeals of glee and a storm of hugs and words of gratitude. Considering the onyx cat's signature candor, such notions were hardly far-fetched, right? This was precisely why the placidity she beheld was so... bizarre to her. Were her minor teases displeasing her, or had she simply overdone them in frequency? Not knowing what to say and do, nor what she had done wrong, she wordlessly allowed her darling to approach her.
In an instance, as it was so often the case, her previous concerns ceased to be. Anew she perceived and cherished her partner's mellow touch. Entwined in a gentle embrace, aureate eyes met amber ones, a view that was always relished by the silver fennec. However, instead of a long-lasting moment of intimate togetherness, there was panache in the BlackGatomon's act of fondness. She was in control as, with a slight angle, their lips pressed firmly yet affectionately against each other. Although... Cion did not mind this. On the contrary, she esteemed the confidence she shared with her.
For a second, the afterglow of their first encounter's closure returned to her. The experience of her date's faint scent and even taste - the warmth of her cozy, comely frame, and soft breath... again, there was nothing else that did entrance the tiny fox so innermostly and utterly. The atmosphere of their bond was different, but its strength had only increased over time. And as their kiss ended, there remained serenity. Moreover, the greeting she heard filled her soul with gleaming bliss. "Welcome home... Syre."
The sentiment of belonging to somewhere and someone - seldom had she felt such overwhelming catharsis. Smiling dreamily, she raised her paw and gently caressed her dearly beloved's cheek with the top of her fingertips. "Still blushing, I see. But the hue does not suit you." She spoke kindly, a petite jest that contained a bit of wonderment. Was it that the feline was not used to the kind of connection they shared? Were certain thoughts daunting to her? Nevertheless, she was able to act upon her passion and affinity. Perhaps this certainty alone ought to suffice to reassure the vulpine lady.
Nodding approvingly and releasing her grasp, there was a minute of moonstruck silence before she suddenly snapped out of her innermost elation. "Right... we should inform the realtor so we can sign the lease agreement with the tenant. Shall we?" She asked, confident that her hun was eager to claim their future home for themselves. It doubtlessly was a notion they shared.

Exasperation?
Oh, anything but! If anything, it was a sigh of relief, the end of Syre's exasperation from a stressful day of house-hunting and worrying that she might have to leave this perfect property behind! The BlackGatomon couldn't have been happier, and shared her happiness with Cion over those several moments.
Which, honestly, might have been the only time they would have a chance to do that over the next couple of hours!
"Well a blush burns right through your own cheeks, Cion. Like a bright cherry blush underneath your eyes." She gave a slight jest right back, before she'd step out of that grip, the list of things they still had to do slowly starting to come back to the cat.
"Right - let's make sure we get this place squared away. I'll give the realtor a call, and we'll head down to the front desk..." The administrative book-work behind it all was enough to put even the strongest of Digimon through the mental wringer. Syre had been prepared for a lot, but even she underestimated all of what this would entail - and if they'd gone for the lakehouse, they would have had to push through a lot more!
There were contracts to read, points to revise and negotiate. Papers to sign, background checks to authorize, financing to prove. The first couple of months had to be paid up front. A few waivers, a few agreements, other notices... as well as a packet of papers explaining the amenities, the available hours, the surrounding area, and instructions on "what to do if something happened", like losing the key to the building.
It was all above the table, and nothing that would raise an eyebrow of suspicion - rather, it was all par for the course! A few hours later, they would finally be given their keys and the paperwork showing that they were now tenants of the room proper. Which was how the two found themselves back up in the room, Syre leaning back on the couch, idly staring up at the ceiling.
"I thought fighting big monsters and scary Digimon was a tiring feat, but no... hello, Terminus residential bureau. Why don't you save the world by drowning the bad 'mons in paperwork... heh..."
Well. Syre might have been a bit out of it!

Their final decision was made. Hence, following their shared expression of elation and affection, the petite duo acted in accordance with it. Fortunately, despite the mental strain it usually imposed, Cion was eager to take the lead when it came to the necessary administrative work. Owing to her time with the regrettably defunct PROFIT, she was experienced with such cumbersome yet inevitable proceedings. Therefor, as tedious and monotone as it was, the pursued the endeavor with utmost focus and vim. After all, it was both for her own sake... moreover that of her dearly beloved.
Thankfully, she did not have to muster the ambitious fervor of a businesswoman. Negotiations were practically nonexistent given their ownership, but not proprietorship, of their apartment. Furthermore, their background checks would reveal them to be white knights - figuratively and literally speaking. Finally, their liquidity was obviously not an issue, for the onyx feline was quite affluent, and the silver fennec was threefoldly so. With costs being split between them, affording the rent for over a decade without lifting a single finger was feasible. However, the diligent mercenary already had a new contract at her disposal, just in case, which would earn her twice the annual net wage of a working class digimon in a day or two. She was expensive, but also had a flawless record.
Everything else, mainly the waivers, notes and compendiums, were of lesser relevance, which was why the unassuming fox only skimmed them for the most part. They included nothing but the typical stipulations and instructions that were self-evident for anyone with the slightest amount of rational thought. Overall, she was content with the papers' contents, which was why she signed them unhesitatingly. Including the demise of the keys, she and her darling were not the rightful tenants of the sixth floor of a spacious, modern flat.
Quicker than anticipated, the summery dusk began to enshrouded the canvas of Terminus, and the infinite horizon behind its walls, in a veil of yellow orange. Sometimes, it was incredible how fast time could pass you by - a sentiment the immemorial lady had felt often, particularly in this life. Savoring the tranquil silence of their newly acquired, shared home, she gently leaned against one of the living room's picture windows. Within it, she did not solely behold the outside grandeur of the capital city, but the faint reflections inside the clear glass.
Slowly yet steadily, the reality and gravity of her past actions became intelligible to her. Mere months ago, she would have considered them a pipe dream, but here she was now... at last with a present worth living, and a promising future she looked forward to. Blinking, there nonetheless was a slightly dolorous frown on her lips. Her aureate eyes frequently shifted back and forth, from left to right, and vice versa. Evidently, she was lost in thought. Nevertheless, as Syre, sitting and staring at the ceiling, voiced her feelings, her ears peaked.
"Quite true..." She responded in jest, which followed a hushed chuckle. However, her signature verve and poise were missing. What lied deep within always had noticeable sway upon her, and this evening was no different. Truth be told, it was likely the same taint that had affected her but a few hours ago. Occasionally, her lips and teeth briefly departed with the impetus to say something, but she was incapable, or at least unwilling, to do so.
How was she even meant to put her tangled thoughts into comprehensible words?

There was going to be a lot to adjust to here, and Syre knew it well.
After all, Cion and Syre were taking a big, exciting-yet-blind step into the unknown! The quality of their abode aside, this also meant that the two were going to see each-other a lot more often. Yes, that was part of the reason for this, but it also meant that the cat and the fox were going to see the other in more than just as dates. Their good days, their bad days, and their unguarded personalities and habits were going to be on full display for the other to see.
It was easy to keep a smile and a positive attitude for one day, especially for a long awaited date. But it was next to impossible to keep that positivity up for a full week, much less the months that were going to come.
But still, Syre felt they were up to it. Her ear flicked, hearing Cion's response. Gone was her often-kept warmth and poise, a true feeling of tiredness and uncertainty masked behind those words. And though Syre didn't pick up on all of that, she did know that there was still a ton that they had to do, both in regards to the apartment and between their personal schedules.
Slowly, Syre would sit up, rubbing the back of her glove against an eye, the cat stifling her first tired yawn of the evening. And slowly, her eyes would scan over the room. "We might be able to use the smaller bedroom as a bit of an office space, and have a proper entertainment center out here." Syre spoke out loud, but seemed to be more trying to piece the thoughts in her head.
That's what Syre was: a forward-thinking cat who liked to create and solve logic puzzles. And figuring out this apartment, right now, was quite an interesting puzzle to her, even if she didn't know all of the pieces yet. She was in a different frame of mind than Cion was at the moment...
... But, really? That was probably fine. The two weren't always going to be on the same wavelength!

As absurd as it initially sounded, it was not Syre's innermost affection that impacted Cion, but her placidity. Blinking slowly, the silver fennec tilted her head to face not a fleeting reflection of the past, but the tangible reality of the present. She gazed at the onyx feline, almost as if staring into space, with an expression of somber confusion. Instead of showing concern, her darling was simply tired and sought respite. It was an understandable sentiment. She likely believed this feeling to be mutual - an explanation for the ladylike fox's gloom. Nonetheless, her thoughts lingered on the future.
Softly folding her arms, it was as if something finally clicked within her mind. For quite a long time now, the only perspective she had considered was her own. Her desire for an intimate bond - her wish for happiness - her longing for someone who embraced her. But she was not the sole person of their relationship, her life, nor the entire world. Why else acquire a home that, as stupendous as it was, pleased her less than her partner? But it was more than just material belongings. What lay beneath was of infinitely greater importance, yet her focus had merely been inward, not outward.
It was true that her recent years were filled with an anguish she would not impose on any other as a punishment. The loss of her immemorial unity with another, the innumerable setbacks despite her efforts, the distance to the people she would like to consider close friends and family... it doubtlessly was an ordeal. But her story, as long-winded as it was, was but one of a book with uncountable pages. Moreover, many chapters of it were recounting envied blitheness. Who was she to continuously lament her pangs, if what she longed for was literally within reach?
For a moment, her aureate eyes shifted to behold the faint image in the mirror. At first, there was uncertainty - then incensement - and ultimately clarity, which could become serenity. It was over - she was done. No longer did she allow her fragility to burden her. As difficult as it was to believe, her fortune was not a figment of her broken imagination, but her achievement in finding a uniquely wonderful individual. And her volition was clear... she would cherish and support her with every ounce of her being. She pleasantly anticipated nothing less from her sweetheart in return. Hence she turned away from yesteryear once and for all.
Following her initial step, her signature verve and poise returned to her - from then on bound to stay. Well-nigh skipping towards the couch, she cheerfully flopped onto it. Unhesitatingly moving her arm past Syre's shoulder to hold her gently yet firmly, she caringly leaned her cheek against hers. A winning and rapt smile marked her muzzle as she savored their marvelous togetherness. "I quite like those ideas, but let them be for tomorrow, okay dear? I think we've earned a well-deserved break for today, don't you think?"
Nodding confidently, one thing was for certain. A no for an answer was not acceptable after their strenuous day of house hunting. They deserved repose now, and how special it was going to be in their first evening in a shared home. "Suggestion - we settle back, order something for dinner, and inaugurate the flat screen by enjoying movies and shows that are hilarious trashy. Sounds good?" She asked with genuine anticipation and a playful grin. Naturally, if her sweetie pie had another suggestion then she had only to voice it.
Cion was exuberantly happy either way.

Indeed, there was a lot running through both of their minds.
Syre, of course, did not know every detail of Cion's storied past, whether it be her accomplishments or her personal affairs. She only knew, in passing, of the fox's previous relationship and how it left quite a mark on her. But the cat did not know, nor was it necessarily her place to pry about, the reasons for Cion's moment of self introspection. Syre's thoughts remained in the present.
... A blissful present, in the company of someone that she cared a lot for. Seeing Cion get a spring in her step, and flop right down next to her, the BlackGatomon couldn't help but return that gesture, a hand draped across Cion's back and a cheek pressed up right against her's. "Oh, of course. We'll have a lot more to figure out than that, but for now, I'd say we're on break til the morning."
Of course Syre wasn't going to disagree with that, and drained as she was at the moment, it wasn't going to be hard to convince the cat to go with something simple! "Heh, sure. Been a long while since I've really watched any kind of TV." Mikemon never really made it a habit, and his assistant, Stingmon, had a habit of collecting old VHS movies from the human world - so honestly, this would be something a bit new to the cat. She'd take a moment to pluck up the remote and turn on the screen, finding that it was already on the guide channel.
Well, that, and that they already had what equated to cable in Terminus, thanks to the amenities of the building! "Hm... movies and the like seem to be in the 200s, game shows a bit above that?" Syre tilted her head. Well, really, she only recognized about a quarter of the program names up there.
But, at least for the next few hours, the two had their plans sorted out.

Splendid! As it was often the case, their interests and plans aligned harmoniously. The lasses had certainly earned themselves a moment of respite after their strenuous day, and with nothing left to claim their attention they did just that. Slowly, beyond the metropolis' skyline and its titanic walls, the sun's orange veil vanished from sight, as did the blurry reflections of a past that no longer held importance nor sway. Enshrouded in an inky nocturne illuminated by a canopy of stars, their home too was faintly flickering with lights, although they were artificial, not natural.
Softly enwrapped in a thin blanket, the affectionate pair had remained in their current position for quite some time - gently leaning into each other while enjoying their presence and their amenities. The enchanting scent of savory dishes, recipes from lands far away, caressed their petite noses. Pan-fried pasta, rice, vegetables and turkey coated in spicy sweet-and-sour sauce were hardly forming a luxurious meal, but it was opulent, salubrious and without doubt palatable. It was a reward well-earned, as was the hilariously terrible show they were beholding. Uncanny and stilted, just as it was meant to be.
And as a socially inept dunce complained about his girlfriend tearing him apart, Cion was content with the assuredness that her bond with Syre was both unwavering and cordial. Close to snorting with laughter, the silver fennec sighed and rolled her eyes. The two of them really had it good, did they not? Confident that they had, she decided to indulge herself in the lovely evening and help herself to her seconds. With chopsticks at hand and a plate on her lap, she calmly leaned into the couch and the cuddly feline alike. Naturally, her chewing was quiet and mannerly as to not disturb her darling.
Eeyup... this was exactly what she had wished for - spending time together with her dearly beloved, simple exhilaration and a healthy appetite. To her, it were such simple aspects of life which fulfilled hers and made it worthwhile.
