"Oh, hush!"
Cion, of course, got the 'playful retaliation' she was looking for - a playful push with her shoulder as she chuckled that comment off! "Besides, I don't think a fish tank is something we need to consider. Those things have to be kept impeccably, or the entire apartment is just going to smell faintly of algae..." And that wasn't something that the cat was looking forward to.
But as for what they did need? The billiard-ball version was an extreme example, but it did remind Syre of something that they didn't have in the apartment, nor wasn't on their list - and soon enough, a more sleek, simple black wall clock was in their card, amidst a few other furnishings, shelves, and a growing list of serial numbers to put on order for delivery. It made for a few interesting conversations, perhaps including a slight clash in aesthetic choices at times, but these two were more than capable of working together a few compromises!
... And, thankfully, they were able to front the bill for all of this, even if Syre was surprised at just how much they spent. Here she thought that rent - and amenities - was going to be the bulk of it!
Next, of course, was a trip to the grocer. There were several options around for picking up a few things at a market, and even a few fancier food stores, but the two would ultimately find a good, all-purpose grocery store for getting what they need. And here, Syre had an actual handle on a well-prepared list, based well off of her own hand in the kitchen! New spices, good cuts of meat, milk, salmon, trout... okay, okay, maybe Syre was being a bit of a feline here, but she liked what she liked! As this was their first trip, and with all of the 'long term' items they were getting, it didn't take long to fill up the cart at all.
"Hm... I... think that's everything..." Syre scratched the back of her head, looking from the list back to the cart. "Sheesh, how did you go day-to-day living off the land? Something like a full pantry in your infini-store?"

Daw... it was obvious that her one and only darling was granting her mercy - or was the inevitable being delayed to keep her in suspense as punishment? Uncertain if Syre was a true lap cat or a mischievous mastermind, Cion simply decided to feign ignorance and chuckled along after she had suffered the wrath of a nudge. Nodding in agreement, she chose to at last relinquish the literally fishy jokes she had made and instead focused on what was most important, which was of course them and their new home. "But a few potted plants will do nicely, and they are easy to maintain."
Before long, despite requiring a couple of hours of searching and discussing, their shopping cart was filled with essential furniture and a handful of orders which would be delivered within an agreed upon time span. And though it was natural that they had some clashes over aesthetics, reaching consensus was hardly an issue for the duo. This was perhaps mostly because the silver fennec often obliged her dearly beloved, but a rapt smile and an occasional kiss were worth the concessions. Knowing the onyx felidae happy was filling her with utmost contentment. Fortunately, they did indeed not lack the financial resources to fulfill their shared dream.
When the moment had arrived for them to stock up cooking ingredients, the unassuming fox cheerily observed her sweetie pie, who appeared to be all for it. Who was she to deny the comely BlackGatomon her passion, which admittedly involved plenty of fish. Amused by this stereotype, she nonetheless remained silent as to not tell a repeated joke. Besides, as a gourmet and gourmand, she was acquainted and cherished a variety of cuisines, hence adapting to the preferences of a certain feline's palate was by no means a problem.
Softly folding her arms, the vulpine sentinel did not know what to add. Even if something came to mind later, returning to a store of their choice was without difficulty. As for the question of her love, well... that was quite simple to answer. "Tinned food if the need arises. I usually rented hotels and dined in restaurants. A bit expensive, but hey - I finally get to spend a slightly noteworthy fraction of my accumulated riches, and for a wonderful future with a most lovely person to boot." She calmly explained and declared with a big, confident grin.
Truly, this was everything she had hoped for, and so much more.

Syre would agree that plants would be a much better idea: nice greenery to brighten up what would otherwise be a largely unused corner of the apartment. A smirk and a nod was all Syre had to do to give her approval, and the two were soon off again for their morning chores. They didn't agree on everything - honestly, no two individuals would - but it was never the case that one 'mons choice was completely to the other's dentriment, nor did they have to strive to make a third unsatisfying 'middle' choice for anything.
As the two made their way to the line in the grocery store, Syre idly listened to Cion's response. "Hotels and fine dining... honestly, I can't say I have much experience in the latter. Mom taught me a lot about cooking, and when we did eat out, it was usually take-out or that one woodsy eatery out their in the mountains. Good place, but... bar-esque, I guess?" The cat didn't know exactly how to describe it, but it was good, cheap food that attracted a somewhat rowdy crowd. Of course, Syre didn't miss that compliment at the end, her comment said with a smile as her nails dragged gently against Cion's back.
By the time they would get back from the grocery - a relatively short outing compared to their lengthy furniture trip - it would be about an hour before lunch, and then a half-hour later, they would have been finally done just unloading and unpacking all of the items stored away in the infini-stores! The food, especially the cold and perishable stuff, would be sorted away first, before the two would lay out a floor plan to get the additional furnishings into place. The wall-mounted TV and sofa were a good 'throw-in' when they first got the place, but now was time to work on getting everything else in place.
Once they did have everything laid out? Well, it might not have been obvious picking through the furniture pieces one at a time - but Cion would quite clearly see that her darling had quite the preference for purple! Enough so that Syre found herself chuckling as it was all laid out before them.
... Well, it all matched, at least

Listening to the piece of insight that her dearly beloved shared with her, Cion could not help herself but to have a chuckle to herself as she smiled whimsically. To her, it was amazing how different their tales were, yet they nonetheless had so many similarities that they had been able to forge a most wonderful bond out of them. An immemorial sentinel savoring luxury and an aspiring protégé who found contentment in the simple things in life - and to both little mattered more than the bliss of family and companionship in their innumerable shapes. It indeed was everything she had dreamed of...
"Sounds splendid! I hope you invite me to this diner one day." The silver fennec responded kindly, hoping that her darling appreciated the interest she showed in her experiences. Regardless of this, there clearly was a sense of appreciation. After all, why else would she once again feel the pleasantly gentle touch of her claws dragging down her slender back? Giggling, it was clear that she relished the gesture that was likewise affectionate and playful. Before long she would think of a way to return these acts of fondness, but with deeds and not words.
Returning to their marvelous yet admittedly slightly empty and uniform home, they duo quickly stored away any item that was not of immediate use, which was mostly food. With the pieces of their to-be furniture in front of them and a layout they had agreed upon at hand, she softly folded her arms and smirked impishly. "What a royal coloration. Meowtastic, is it not?" She quipped, nudging the comely BlackGatomon's shoulder with her own. But hey, at least it matched.
"Quite unorthodox, but I like it. Needs orange and blue as additional contrast, but that's where the landscape paintings will come into play. And with a few potted plants and flowers, we'll turn the neighborhood from digital to green-eyed monsters." Cion stated, her voice brimming with coltish elation and a bit of pride. And to think that this was merely the beginning of their togetherness! The future had seldom felt this exciting and auspicious to her.
Speaking of which, they certainly ought to introduce themselves to their cohabiters once they were done. But that was a story for another day.

"Oh, I will!"
Syre beamed, giving a smile and a nod to Cion's response. Whereas those looking at a distance might see Cion as the type for elegant dining, Syre was delighted to know the fennec just a little under the surface. The fennec, despite her poise, was not above 'cheap and good food', nor 'common' entertainment, making the fox delightfully relatable! This helped give Syre someone relatable to work with when it came to actual examples of more refined decisions...
... Such as how to properly decorate an apartment. As Cion poked fun at the dark and royal purples that filled out the room, Syre found herself giving a nervous chuckle. Yes, most of the things they came back with were either green (mostly with the plants) purple, or chromatic silver (like the clock or other wall-hangings). It definitely made the place feel rich, but it also risked settling on an almost castle-like aesthetic - so royal was a good word for it. And hearing Cion's suggestions, Syre gave a nod - and a small grin.
"Oh, I'm glad you said orange and blue rather than just jumping to the contrast. You think this stuff looks royal now, well, imagine if we trimmed it all with yellow? We might as well christen the oncoming king." The cat gave a laugh at that! "But some better-thought-out throw pillows and new colors for our sheets... and maybe a painting or two ought to go a long way to re-brighten the place up. For now, let's go ahead and put together our 'quaint little castle'."

Yes... it was true, was it not? While she indeed preferred to carry herself as a lady of charm and grace, and enjoyed being regarded as such by others, Cion was by far not the most fastidious person in the digital realm. On the contrary, she was one to give credit and cherish even the simplest aspects of life. And what was not equally as simple as it was wonderful than the time spent with someone truly and dearly beloved? Perhaps the smile on the onyx felidae's muzzle that was balm for her soul, which was an unwavering source of certainty.
Besides, rare activities that included renovating a home were quite enjoyable in her opinion... especially with effectively no limit to her budget. It was certainly a boon of high-class mercenary work, as relatively hazardous as it typically was. Naturally, the silver fennec listened to her comely darling's endorsements and statements as she always did - with utmost attention and participance. "Your amber eyes are all the yellow I need, hun." She responded with a slightly impish grin and a dreamily affectionate gaze as it lingered on Syre.
Nonetheless, she had to agree with the candidly playful BlackGatomon, hence she nodded. Furthermore, she let out a noise that implied a degree of amazement, which was accentuated by her folding her arms softly. "Christen? Now that's what I call specific lexis. I did not know you were familiar with human mythology." She teasingly complimented her sweetie pie for her ken and vocabulary that she herself had sometimes claimed lacking, particularly in comparison to that to the vulpine sentinel. In fact, the latter had been the cause for an amusing jest mere hours ago.
Nevertheless, her partner was right. The sooner they got going with their quaint little castle the better. Nodding firmly in agreement, Cion wordlessly decided to tend to the living room first. After all, it was the largest job site they had to take care of, and it was not atypical to begin with the biggest bite and enjoy the remaining morsels of labor as dessert. It maybe was an odd analogy and association, but both worked for her - unless the charming feline objected of course.

"Such a cute flirt."
To that comment about her amber eyes, Syre couldn't help but give a chuckle, gently dragging the back of her knuckle right up under the fox's chin. Such moments like this helped to brighten the mood and keep them smiling through what could have been a much more stressful task. After all, strong and skilled fighters or not, what would come next would amount to putting several pieces of furniture together with occasionally spotty instructions.
Patience was going to be a virtue! The feline gave a blink, ear flicking as Cion complimented her dialect. To that, the BlackGatomon gave a chuckle: "I guess knowing four or five tamers while I was growing up made me pick up a bit of their vocabulary?" It didn't feel weird saying it initially, but in retrospect, it was weird for a Digimon to know how to use such a word in-context. But heck, Syre would take the compliment!
What followed, of course, was the long, arduous task of piecing the furniture together, and figuring out just how it all fit into place - and all of the little steps that came along with that. Light pencil marks on the walls to know how to line up the paintings; eyeballing and adjusting the position of furniture so that it would fit just right; making sure the glass top of their new coffee table would slot in just right... the two might not have struggled moving the items themselves, being Champion and higher, but it was certainly a lot to pack into the day!
Eventually, that mountain of work would be behind them. And save for the three giant plastic bags containing all of debris, errant packaging, and afternoon paper coffee cups, the apartment itself finally looked like it all fit into place. It was a long and tiring day, but...
"... Heh. I know the phrase is 'home is what you make of it'... but I think we can take it literally, here."
