Knowledge is Power [Emilia/Faustein] (COMPLETE)

Post by Emilia Testarossa★ on Jun 30, 2020 20:53:42 GMT
Knowledge is power... The age-old statement floated through Emilia's mind as her eyes skimmed over the pages of Sun Tzu's The Art of War. This was her 15th time reading the ancient Chinese text, first time in Japanese. In truth, she's much rather be reading about famous naval battles, but knew she had to master the language before she could start moving on to other things during the school day. Luckily, she had a brand new copy of The Influence of Sea Power on History waiting for her back at the dorm; this one freshly delivered from her home country of Italy. Just smelling the newly printed pages was enough to keep her excited...but Japanese first! Speaking and understand the language wasn't difficult for her but reading was a nightmare, and because of it, here we sit. God, I just can't wait to tear into that new book, ummff~~ I bet the the full colored and remastered images give off that delicious earthy smell...oh my god, thinking about it is driving me WILD! I just gotta...I gotta...I...I...!!!!
"Goodness, Emilia! Get it together!"
She scolded herself out-loud, as it was the only thing she could do with her mind running away like that. Luckily, nobody else was near her in the study hall as most students were just sitting down for lunch somewhere across campus. After a quick and disappointed sigh, she closed her book and began packing away her things.
"I guess I have to eat too."
After tossing her bag over her shoulders and readjusting her glasses she made her way toward the exit of the study hall and toward the closest vending machine. The route was a simple one; first right, second left, up the long hall, down the blue stairs, and target acquired. Other students, even faculty, were a rare sight via this route. She'd be able to get back to the study hall quickly once she had her Skittles in hand. Mission start!

Some time had passed since Faustein's second encounter with Mandrake, the Impmon/Wizardmon and his friend and comrade, Lothar the Elecmon/Leomon which involved breaking out of yet another prison and escaping captivity by a Cyberdramon and its cronies. Since then, once again, he had returned to his everyday routine which was his profession as a practicing physician-scientist and his ongoing, endless mad science research, but also to the occasional heeding of the summons sent by his maternal grandparents with regards to the business dealings, both major and minor, of the keiretsu owned by his parents, his grandparents, and of course, the clan. After being preoccupied relentlessly in all of these responsibilities thusly, Faustein had finally gotten a chance to enjoy some downtime, and he intended to take advantage of this period of respite to the fullest extent possible. Sadly, that had not lasted very long for soon afterward, he had gotten a call from some of the staff at a nearby school whom he knew fairly well. They had requested him to fill in for the school doctor and also as a substitute teacher at said school. Since the school was one of many which enjoyed significant donations from his maternal grandparents and the keiretsu they owned managed and which he was someday going to inherit as the next sole proprietor and CEO, he could not refuse the request. So, with great chagrin, he had agreed and thus his stint at the school had begun in earnest. The work was fairly simplistic since he was quite familiar with all the common health problems that students had on a daily basis due to him being a practicing physician-scientist. The teaching was also equally straightforward especially since he was quite knowledgeable about both ancient and modern history due to being obsessed with all the war games and strategy games during his childhood and having been made to read plenty of literature detailing all the famous conflicts throughout history by his grandparents. Apart from that due to his experience with studying the more advanced versions of biology, chemistry, and other such science subjects Thus several days had gone by without event and on this particular day, he had just finished examining a student that had come by, and was now heading to his favorite vending machine for a snack and a black coffee. He approached the machine and was just about to have it dispense a Hot Fries bag when he saw another hand reach out for the machine as well. Following it, he noticed that it belonged to one of his history class's students, one Emilia Testarossa. So, he smirked and remarked, his voice being the usual rich, resounding, baritone but hypnotically melodious voice "Move swift as the Wind and Attack like the Fire, eh? While this is certainly necessary in order to accomplish one's objectives, it still does not condone one's running through the hallways, Ms. Testarossa."He said and then fell silent, his eyes inscrutable due to being hidden by the glare of the flourescent lights overhead impinging on his polarizzed Google Glasses, but his smirk was now a tad wider, indicating that he was amused by her. As he waited, a gentle zephyr blew through the open window across from him, causing his long white lab coat to flutter about and his gravity defying whitish-green hair to wave about dramatically. Emilia's heart rate suddenly shot through the roof. What? WHAT?! Nobody should be anywhere near this vending machine at this hour! My calculations were flawless! She drew back her outstretched hand so quickly and dramatically that if someone had been standing right behind her, they would have easily lost an eye. Clutching her chest, and ready to fall back, the girl's racing heart was suddenly calmed by the man's words.
"Th-that's a quote from Sun Tzu..."
Speaking her thoughts out loud, and then trailing off, the panicked student's eyes began to wonder. What drew her attention first was his hair; the bright green accents nicely sat atop a mountain of pure white. Certainly different, but somehow matched his overall outward appearance. Of course, one couldn't forget the billowing lab coat draped nicely across his figure. The presence of such a style was alluring. In Emilia's eyes, a lab coat represented so much more than just a fashion choice; authority, science, and achievement. Is he...a new professor? He...knew my name. Before she could completely submit herself to him, there was one thing still bothering her. He's too young...and he's too HOT!
Emilia lit up like a Christmas tree, some might say she resembled that of a boiling lobster. Shut up, Emilia! You always think the guys who talk to you are hot! Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT! It was true. Whenever a male under the age of 30 even bothered to look at her she would instantly find them attractive. She, of course, had no idea why this was her initial reaction...nor was she very good at handling said situations...but she somehow always managed. Never had she seen any professors or teachers in this way because they were always so much older than her. To be honest, they were the only people Emilia ever wanted to draw the attention of, but it wasn't because of sexual desire - a topic she knew nothing about, but her mind loved to explore for some reason.
The scene stayed the same for what seemed like forever, but finally Emilia let the steam loose and built up enough courage to ask him a question.
"H-hi. Yes, I'm-I'm Emilia Testaro-ro-rosa! A-are you the-the n-new Professor? Or a visiting doctor? I'm sorry for speeding through the halls, sir. I was so busy studying that I nearly forgot to eat!"
Sure, she wasn't the most coherent with her questioning, but she got the sentence out. By the end of it, she felt much better, having chased away whatever weird thoughts had built up in her head.

Here was a truly hilarious specimen before him, and so Faustein had merely observed silently with a bemused smirk on his thin, firm lips as Emilia fumbled with her words and even became flustered enough for her face to take on a flushed appearance. As if that were not enough, he could practically see the doubt written all over her face as to why he was at the vending machine and why her seemingly flawless plan had come crashing down around her. Throughout all this, the right corner of his mouth was twitching slightly indicating that he was forcefully suppressing full blown uproarious laughter. So, after she had fallen silent at last, he commenced by tilting his head slightly downward so that the glare was removed from his glasses, revealing his arrenstingly bright, and hauntingly hypnotic crimson red eyes and transfixing her gaze with his own which was currently glinting with the force and light of his unbridled mirth while remarking
"Before answering your question, if you will allow me to hazard an intelligent guess, perhaps your current thoughts are something along the lines of What? WHAT?! Nobody should be anywhere near this vending machine at this hour! My calculations were flawless!. Well the answer to that is, like you, my hunger and thirst brought me to this oasis which seems to hold a cornucopia of foods and beverages."
He paused to let his action and the implication of that action sink in to her mind for a few moments and then resumed answering her other unspoken wonder with that same trademark smug smirk on his lips
"You are correct in that I did quote from Sun Tzu just now, but it rather surprising to encounter familiarity with such an ancient figure in one so young as yourself. You are also right about your qualitative estimate of my age, for you see, it is a mere 29 years, far younger than that of the average professor in a similar position. Now, regarding my superlative countenance and anatomical morphology, what was that antediluvian aphorism?...Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Now then, regarding my prior knowledge of your name, well that is due to the fact that I have ensured that my mind has analyzed and memorized the data on all of my students...including you of course."
He paused again to let this sink in as well and then answered her actual, spoken query
"Right again, Ms. Testarossa. I am the new substitute professor at this institution and I shall be assisting any department that needs my aid during my stint here...well, except for music theory and cinematography, that is. That said, I am also this institution's new resident physician in charge of the health and welbeing of not only the student populace, but also that of the instructors as well. My responsibilities and personal data aside, your apology is accepted, with the caveat that you do NOT commit such an error again. Is that understood?"
With all of that said, Faustein fell silent at last and with that signature smug smirk still playing upon his thin, firm lips, he waited to see how Emilia would react to his words and deeds.

Emilia let out a bit of a surprised squeak. He's like a mind reader. How... More intrigued than frightened, (but let's be honest, also a bit frightened) Emilia pondered for only a second. Anymore thoughts, and he might be able to read her like an open book...which he had already succeeded in doing. His smirk said it all, and that's all she really needed to confirm it. The way he spoke had an air of importance, which Emilia truly found inspiring. There was something about this man that was so different from her other professors...other than age, of course.
"So you're only 10 years older than me, an accomplished doctor, recognized as someone who could step in at any moment to teach at a prestigious institution, and a mind reader?!"
As if in a mental daze, she had suddenly forgotten that she had been scolded for being in such a rush just seconds before. The frail girl quickly found herself in a state of admiration. This man was a beacon of hope, knowledge, and education! Her inability to properly read and write Japanese had really dampened spirits over the course of the last few months, but encountering such a young and well-spoken man such as this certainly brightened her gaze. Unexpectedly, she became excited. It was still early in their conversation but Emilia had a gut-feeling that the man standing in front of her would be delivering so much historic and scientific knowledge to his students, sharing a complete novel of experiences in life...and he's not going to be bad to look at either~ Gah! What is wrong with you, Emilia?!
"Well, I'm certainly looking forward to being your student, even if just temporary, Professor......?"
She trailed off, using the fluctuation in her voice to politely inquire about his name. Before he could answer her, she nervously, and unnecessarily, continued the conversation. Young men and great scholars... they always threw off her ability to weave an efficient and thoughtful conversation. So when you get both in one package...well, there goes years and years of practiced manipulation, strategy, and efficiency down the drain. So, onto the rambling...
"I know I will probably be learning more about you here shortly, since I'll be participating in your lectures and everything. Now that I think about it, Professor Yamanaka did say he was going to be taking some time off for health reasons, so I guess you would be here to step in for him, and several other professors it seems. You know, if you need any help learning about the campus or exploring the grounds, I could help you! I was a teaching assistant during my early years here, to get a few extra credits toward geoscience. My goal is to be the valedictorian, so I've been working very hard through my final year. I'm a Scorpio. 19 years old. Born in ITALY--"
Gasping for air, she finally caught onto to her own ridiculousness. Calm your ass down, girl! YIKES! Stay cool, stay cool!
"I-I'm sorry. I just- get a little nervous meeting new people, especially those who can quote Sun Tzu so flawlessly. I'll finish with this; I was invited to this university for my accomplishments in history. It's a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to learning from you, Professor."
Right now, she almost felt like she was two different people...an unfortunate way to have to introduce oneself.

As the minutes ticked by, Emilia's words, actions, and mannerisms in general had amused Faustein more and more and it had become increasingly difficult to exert his iron will to repress his mirth, but somehow he had managed to keep control over himself and thus had prevented himself from devolving into a fit of hysterical, uproarious laughter. So, he had simply let Emilia ramble onward at her leisure and patiently waited till such a time that she was finished with whatever she had to say to him.
Great Scott! This specimen is a rather loquacious one, eh? This mystery of a female's ability to chatter on incessantly in an indefatigable manner is truly one of the greatest mysteries of this universe.
However, at long last, Faustein was able to witness Emilia's long speech come to a close. Therefore, he began his reply, choosing to address each of her statements in order, of course.
"Indeed, so it would be prudent for you to tame your Bucephalian mind, Ms. Testarossa, lest it run amok when you may have the greatest need of its acumen. After all, you would not wish for me to scan your mind and learn your innermost, deepest secrets, now would you?"
He flashed her an amused, smug smirk as before and paused to let his opening statement sink in before resuming
"Of course, this experience will be a truly intriguing one for all parties involved therein. Here's to an amusing school year then. Ah right, how silly of me, my name was never introduced to you, but then perhaps it would be more efficient if my name was introduced to you and the rest of your class as a whole in the lecture class that we will be undertaking once the afternoon bell sounds the alarm for all students and faculty to head to their respective classes. Besides, keeping my name a mysterious secret for the time being may just be able to elicit an intriguing reaction from all of you."
Then, he moved on to address the part wherein she had introduced her personal information to him and mentioned her previous professor take a leave of absence
"Yes, if my analysis is correct about that, his condition should be remedied within the next three or four months, well that is presuming his immunolymphatic system is still intact by that time, of course. However, it would be prudent of you to keep this data securely locked away in your cerebral database and not reveal it to anyone. Now then, regarding your offer to provide me with a guided tour of the campus, that would be a good idea, if it were not for the fact that my mind has already memorized all of the details regarding this institution and its grounds. Furthermore, both of our academic reputations may come into question and even be jeopardized if any were to witness the two of us moving so close together. For these two reasons, it would behoove me to decline that offer."
He paused there to ensure he was not overwhelming her with information as his role, despite how he did not like it, was to put up the facade of the kind and caring professor. Then, he resumed speaking, first addressing her mention of her birth sign
"Ah, a Scorpio, eh? Well, you certainly do embody the lore of that particular sign to a noticeable degree. That said, you may want to restrain the inherent weaknesses associated with that sign, Ms. Testarossa."
He had heard her mention that she was born in Italy, so he decided to invvestigate her mastery of the associated language, so he couched his next remark entirely in Italian, and even went so far as to emulate the inflections, intonations, and other vocal and behavioral characteristics of a native born Italian speaker to near perfection
"Quindi, sei la contadina di uno dei più grandi generali del mondo antico? Davvero impressionante."
After that, he stretched out his right index finger and placed it in contact with Emilia's forehead, specifically the point between her eyes where the top of her nose met her forehead while resuming speaking in English and staring directly into her eyes with his own arrestingly bright, haunting crimson red ones
"Indeed, it is imperative that you calm yourself down, in both mind AND body, Ms. Testarossa. After all, that is one of the hallmarks of an aspiring general, is it not?
Since it was expected of him, Faustein closed with what he figured was a courteous closing statement after removing his finger from her forehead
"Likewise, Ms. Testarossa. Now then, you had better make your exit, as the alarm bell will start sounding any second now. We shall meet in your next class shortly. Till then, au revoir."
As if on cue, the alarm bell signaling the end of the lunch break started its resounding ringing exactly when he had finished his sentence. So, he fell silent, gave her a pistol salute and turned briskly on his heel, causing his lab coat to flutter about his person dramatically before making his exit from the hallway and heading downstairs to where the next classroom was located so he could reach there on time.

The ringing of the school's bell signaling the end of the lunch hour startled Emilia as she was listening quite intently to everything her new substitute professor had to say. The way he spoke was quite poetic, at least to Emilia, who had always had to deal with professors dumbing-down their lectures so other students could keep up. The chestnut haired teen knew this man would be different, as he didn't seem like the type to mince words. The sudden intrusion of Italian certainly knocked her back, but the familiar dialect and flawless accent made things feel a little more like home. Emilia let the intrusive bell die down before she answered his questions. "La tua inchiesta è lusinghiera ma purtroppo non so molto della mia famiglia. Adoro davvero la storia e il genio dietro l'antica battaglia."She finished off with a polite smile with a hint of sadness hidden behind it. Emilia wasn't a big fan of talking about family, simply because she had no way of answering such inquiries...a rarity, as she made her mission to be able to answer almost anything that was asked of her. Things she didn't know or understand, she simply didn't like, and thus avoided. It was then she realized the intriguing professor had begun to make his exit. As if in slow motion, Emilia watched as his lab coat dance behind him. The man had an impressive aura and it seemed like the world agreed to the point that it wanted to help project it. After a few more moments of adoration, and once he had completely made his exit, Emilia let the rest of his words sink in. She was disappointed he declined her offer to escort him around the school grounds, but understood completely. In fact, she blushed a little thinking about what he said in regards to others and their thoughts. Oops, almost had a boyfriend!"Shut up!"Getting even more red in the face, Emilia argued with her own thoughts alone next to the vending machine. Now would be one of those times to heed her new teacher's advice to calm her mind AND body. So after a few deep breathes, she figured the rest of the student body would be making way down this hallway. She had roughly four minuets left before she had to be in her seat; plenty of time. ----------------------------- After finishing up her biochemistry lab, next would be history... HIS course. With vigor in her step, Emilia hugged her textbooks and quickly made way to the lecture hall. She was excited to learn from him and only hoped her fellow students were ready to be rocked and rolled! Being the model student she is, the eager learner situated herself in on of the front-most seats, hastily preparing a notebook for the flurry of notes she was about to take.
OOC: Thank goodness for Google Translate. I don't know Italian!

Faustein had taken his time wandering through the Humanities course building's hallways since technically he had a considerable break of time before the history lecture class which was to be his first ever class to be taught at that institution. Additionally, he had also been hungry and so needed this time to partake of the snacks and drink he had bought from the vending machine just before having his encounter with Emilia. It did not take him very long to finish his meal since he had a fairly high metabolism and so before long, he had disposed of the now empty snacks and drink containers in a nearby trashbin before heading off once more, first towards the faculty room. Here, he picked up the pair of special order, ornate but still very functional geta shoes, the matching kabuki theatrical outfit, and traditional Japanese umbrella as wel, all of these items being specially designed to be appropriate to the current season which he had brought with him. Then, he went to a nearby restroom, changed into the kabuki outfit, put on the geta shoes with the tabi socks included after which, he headed out to his history class. Of course, he had made sure to have all of his gadgets strapped onto his new outfit as he had with his standard physician-scientist's attire, so he was prepared for whatever would come his way. Thanks to his stride, it did not take him very long to reach the lecture hall, but before he entered, he activated the music player app on his custom made smartphone to full volume and set it to activate at exactly the same time as he entered the room. As he entered, he hopped on one leg and then the other as per the traditional kabuki routine while holding the umbrella resting on his left shoulder such that his face was hidden from the students until he arrived at his smart desk. All the while, the usual kabuki theatrical sound effects were resounding through the room. Accompanying this performance was a gif displayed on the giant smart board which made up the entirety of the wall behind him which was of course showing the appropriate backdrop for the current season that was usually used in these performances. Upon arrival, he twirled the umbrella around his back and then hurled it elegantly into the air where it started to descend slowly. Upon seeing this, a few students asked in chorus, clearly demonstrating their confusion "Just who are you?"He smirked as he heard them and then started his overly dramatic, but still meticulously choreographed introduction by once again hopping again alternately on each leg, this time from side to side, before landing with his right foot forward and his left foot positioned behind, transfixing the entire student body in the room with a wide eyed, dramatic stare using his arrestingly bright, hauntingly hypnotic crimson red eyes which were fully visible thanks to him having removed his Google Glasses. "I am glad you asked that question!! Now, you baby chicks, open those beady little eyes and those cute little ears so that you may behold my greatness!!"After that, he took hold of the long, dangling sideburns of his thick, long, ornately made white wig which was part of his kabuki outfit and swung his head around briefly while saying "From the north to the south and the east to the west, no malady has ever eluded this physician-scientist. The ivory haired disciple of Hippocrates!! The talented healer that strikes terror into the cores of all microorganisms!! Dr. Faustein Kuroyakushi!!"He said and at the end, he closed his performance with the usual kabuki stance or pose that followed these types of performances. Specifically, after first rolling his head and neck slowly and dramatically, he had his right upper limb outstretched towards the students with his open palm facing them while having his left upper limb in a similar pose facing the large wall to wall smart board behind him while saying after a dramatic pause "Indeed!! I speak of none other than myself!!” By the end of all this, the umbrella which had been descending at a snail's pace while twirling in the air, landed exactly in his outstretched left hand even though he was not even looking behind him. Overall, he looked quite dramatic in appearance given the ornate nature of his kabuki outfit and makeup Then, he fell silent and waited to see what the students' reactions to his performance would be like while holding the same pose he finished in patiently. As he waited, a zephyr wafted through the open window and caused his outfit and wig to flutter and wave dramatically while the sunlight streaming through illuminated his eyes in such a way as to accentuate their arresting, haunting and hypnotic nature.

There are not enough words in the English dictionary to accurately describe how Emilia was feeling at this moment. She shared the same confusion, curiosity, and wonder as the rest of her classmates...but there was just so much more. Her dark brown eyes blew up like balloons at the site of the man she had met only hours before, impressed her in a matter of minuets, and took just seconds to defeat her in a battle of wits. She was definitely looking forward to this lecture course for those reasons, but this incredible display struck her even deeper.
Of course, Emilia knew about Kabuki and the art's intriguing costumes, settings, and rituals...but never in her lifetime would she had guessed that one of her professors would actually perform it. Learning about things such as this was always fun, but witnessing it was so much better. This had been the most exciting day of school in her whole studious career...and he still had a lecture to give. The young adult wanted to cry at the beauty, but also explode of embarrassment for unknown reasons. She wanted to scream with joy and happiness, but also in rage and confusion. The emotions bubbling within her frail body were just too much, and she began to feel woozy. Too enamored by the performance, she failed to recognize just what all of this excitement was doing to her.
Is this love? She asked herself, somehow taming her mind through each strong stance and graceful twirl. Yes, maybe, but perhaps not in the way most people would describe the emotion. There wasn't a sexual attraction here (well, maybe just in her mind where mostly everything was treated sexually), but more of an intense burning of adoration. Emilia had already experienced a plethora of talents via their initial meeting, but now she was witnessing something different. Left brain to right brain, but more likely a combination of both.
"From the north to the south and the east to the west, no malady has ever eluded this physician-scientist. The ivory haired disciple of Hippocrates!! The talented healer that strikes terror into the cores of all microorganisms!! Dr. Faustein Kuroyakushi!!"
Listening to his confident and booming voice speak his own name with such valor, she let out a small squeak. This man was an enigma...a code she couldn't crack...but that was just fine. She had never backed away from any academic challenge, and here was perhaps the most difficult puzzle of them all. Who is Dr. Faustein Kuroyakushi? WHAT is Dr. Faustein Kuroyakushi?!
The questions danced around in her head as her new professor finished his display. History in the making or history himself?! How did he learn all these things?! Why is he so hot?! Shut up! The questions kept coming as Emilia's body began to heat up at a rapid pace. Before she knew it, her knees had locked up and it wasn't too soon after when her vision went dark.
THUD!
The students seated around Emilia didn't notice the usually invisible girl's head hitting the connected desk in front of them. It wasn't a violent crash by any stretch, but it would still probably leave a bump. Cheers, laughter, jeers, and whistling sounds had erupted across the lecture hall. He had certainly made his mark. Meanwhile, Emilia had simply fainted from all the day's excitement.

Faustein had smirked as he saw the entire class cheer, laugher, jeers and have other such reactions and had waited for them to calm down. Towards the end, however, it had seemed the excitement he had brought in the way of an icebreaker to ease whatever tension or anxiety there may hev existed in the students' hearts had been a little too overwhelming for Emilia as she fainted and crashed to the lecture hall floor. Well now, that was certainly unexpected...the data did indicate that she had a frail body, but still, to pass out like that simply from too much exictement? Oh well...He mused silently and then, as he wished to convey the image of a professor who was concerned for his students' welfare, he set aside the various tools he was using, like the umbrella and the miniature traditional Japanese folding fans which he had brought out at an earlier point in the performance and then headed over to Emilia. "Mr.Tanaka, Ms. Yuki, and Mr. Raigo, there is need of your assistance in this matter. Let us transport Ms. Testarossa to the university's infirmary so that she can get treated and revived back to consciousness."To that, the three students he had enlisted helped him pick her up and then together they transported her to the university's infirmary and then set her on one of the patient beds there. Of course, a few of her concerned friends had followed them, so Faustein had them wait outside in the hallway until such a time when he would have finished restoring Emilia to consciousness. It did not take him very long to do that of course since the university's infirmary was stocked adequately with all of the items he required for the process. Then it was just a matter of time till Emilia opened her eyes, so he returned to his office in the interim and changed back into his usual physician-scientist's outfit as that was more apropos for the situation. After that, he returned to the infirmary and instructed her friends to summon him once that had happened and she was ready to explain what had happened to her "Once Ms. Testarossa has awoken, one of you must come and summon me so that the final examination of her condition may be completed, so be sure to keep watch over her. That said, this is an infirmary, so it would behoove the lot of you to remain silent and avoid unnecessary chatter."After that, he headed off to his office which was in the room across from the location of the row of patient beds in the infirmary and waited for Emilia to wake up completely.

Darkness~
Oh lord, has it happened again? Slowly, Emilia's thoughts began to reconstruct themselves as she rested in the darkness. She wasn't ready to open her eyes just yet, as she knew the sudden intrusion of light would give her a nasty headache. This wasn't the first time she had fainted, which is the only thing she could assume had happened after remembering the exciting scene her new professor had created. This was embarrassing, to say the least. She didn't want to open her eyes for several reasons now.
The sound of muddled speech finally forced her to open her large brown eyes and let the light of the afternoon in. Surprisingly, the room was relatively darkened, which means someone has actually brought her to the right place this time instead of leaving her limp body wherever she had fallen. That was a nice change. Her body felt very heavy but comfortable on top of the infirmary bed. Slowly, she regained her strength and propped her body up to get a better look around. The girl's deduction was correct; she had been taken into the infirmary by some caring individuals. Heh, I guess I'm glad someone actually took the time to help me out this time. I'll consider myself lucky. Chisaki-san, maybe? Matoi? She filtered through the class roster trying to figure out who would have wanted to help her - who was it that actually noticed her? Suddenly, as if a bolt of lightning shot through her body, Emilia sat up so straight she could have blasted through the ceiling if the laws of physics had allowed it. Her reawakening senses caught a scent so foreign to her, but so strong, she couldn't help but give off a little squeak. A b-b-b-BOY?!?! No...THREE?! They---they---TOUCHED ME!!! Her perverted mind fell into an endless spiral of scenarios; some far too unbelievable -and R-rated- to type out. She sniffed again, a big whiff. Tanaka~ Yuki~ Raigo~ Being the tactician she is, memorizing the scents of classmates was important...I guess. The poor lost soul could have sat there for several more hours drooling over what could have happened if only she hadn't been suddenly interrupted by an inquiring voice.
"Um, Testarossa-san, are you awake?"
Snapping out of her delusional state, Emilia recognized her classmate's voice almost instantly. Just as it was important to memorize smells, voices were also something good to catch.
"Matoi-san..."
She was a bit disappointed that a boy wasn't waiting for her, however she wasn't exactly sure why she was disappointed. Her voice carried a bit of frustration and confusion and her inflection was all over the place.
"Yes, it's me. Professor Faustein asked me to watch over you here. Now that you're awake, you should go to his office. I can help you get there, if you need it."
Her classmate's offer was kind, but Emilia's raging mind had helped return proper blood flow through her body and she was now strong enough to get moving herself. She politely declined, bowed, apologized for all the trouble, and let Matoi get back to her own life. After taking a deep, still embarrassed, sigh, she reluctantly exited the infirmary, crossed the hall, and knocked on Dr. Faustein's door. Hearing no response after only a second, she entered as the door was unlocked, as if waiting for her arrival.

Faustein had been examining Emilia's patient file on his tablet in the dimly lit office when he heard the door open, but without looking up, he simply welcomed her after pushing off the side of the desk before him with his long legs, causing the plush, high-back computer chair to swivel about to face her while snapping his fingers once to turn the flourescent lights overhead on to illuminate the room "Welcome...to the dark side, Ms. Testarossa."He remarked with that trademark smug smirk on his thin lips and in that same rich, resounding baritone but hypnotically melodious voice of his while having one leg crossed over the other and a Long-Haired Persian with silvery-white fur gently, but audibly purring while sprawled out on his lap with a contented look on her face. While gently head-petting the purring cat and stroking her floofy furred back He asked her afterwards with a slight 30 degree head tilt with a long ancient looking curvilinear pipe danging from the side of his mouth "This is where all the fun stuff happens often. We have cookies, cake, and orange soda, so would you perhaps care for some?"Then, he fell silent and while waiting for her reaction, he raised his arms and after resting his elbows on the padded armrests of the computer chair, he dovetailed his fingers, the right hand pinkie of which had a large, expensive looking ring on it, and steepled his hands Meanwhile, his polarized Google Glasses bearing eyes pointed directly at her. Due to the glare from the lights overhead and due to how his head was tilted just enough to catch the light, it made his Google Glasses glint brightly and obscure his eyes from view. There was music playing in the background with a soundtrack one may have expected to hear in those stereotypical old time movies about mad scientists and evil lairs. There were specimen jars with a variety of formalin preserved specimens lined up on the shelf at the far end of the room, a couple of Tesla Coils and Van de Graaf generators built into and telescoping out from the walls at some points, test tube racks with a variety of test tubes, mortars and pestles, crucibles, Bunser burners, as well as other lab glassware such as Erlenmeyer flasks with all manner of solutions smoking, sparking, glowing, and doing various other chemical effects set up on a series of sturdy tables alongside the walls as well, to his right. From there, a medley of odors of various types were wafting and pervading the room, so perhaps Emilia could smell them. To his left there was a patient examination bed with a large, sturdy telescoping arm holding a tray with various physician's tools on it like a stethoscope, mercury manometers, lead aprons, tuning forks of variour fequencies, tongue depressors and so on. Thus, overall, the room seemed like some strange fusion of a stereotypical mad science lab and a typical doctor's office one would find at any university.

A tad bit worried her new professor might still be sporting his Kabuki attire, Emilia cautiously entered the office space. Immediately, her nose was greeted by some curious scents, formaldehyde being the most recognizable. Biology had never been Emilia's favorite subject, but anyone who's been forced to dissect the brains of animals as many times as she had would know the scent very well. He IS a doctor, after all...this isn't surprising. Moving past the more familiar smells, she decided to move on. After another quick sniff she picked up the scent of...a tobacco pipe? Just as she thought about it the lights suddenly flicked on. Slightly taken aback by the sudden change, she swiveled her head around trying to pinpoint a possible assailant. This felt very much like an escalating movie scene...then suddenly, it was.
"Welcome...to the dark side, Ms. Testarossa."
"E-eh?"
Finally she had spotted the doctor who, inexplicably, resembled that of a Bond villain lost in a Star Wars universe. She noted the cat -white, puffy, full of allergens-, the striking pipe, and overall demeanor of her new professor. This was, again, off-putting...but not entirely unexpected. The young woman knew he was eccentric, that she concluded very quickly after their initial meeting, but this...this was just...suave as fuck~!
"Er, um, Doctor, if you're truly offering all those sweet treats then I would gladly take them. I could use a spike in blood-sugar considering I just...um...fainted...heh."
She tried to answer his joke with one of her own but it quickly turned into an embarrassing confession. Twiddling her fingers some, she took this quick moment of silence as permission to look around his office. It was all a bit confusing but fascinating at the same time...much like it's decorator. The Tesla coils and other ancient electrical equipment were a nice touch. The patient chair located behind him was cool, a tad bit threatening, but cool. He is a doctor, after all. The sound of pleasant classical music brought her attention back to the matter at hand.
"Um, yes, anyway! I'm so very sorry about blacking out in your lecture course, Doctor! I think the excitement got to me and I didn't realize my own weakness at the time! You seem like a very great lecturer, and knowledgeable on so many topics...I would understand if you didn't want to keep me as a student. I may delay your teaching habits more times in the future. That isn't fair to you or my fellow students!"
After taking a quick, but very deep, breath, Emilia bowed her head as was tradition when apologizing to someone in Japan.

Faustein flashed his trademark smug smirk at Emilia as she sat there and accepted his offer of refreshments, and indeed he did have some ready and waiting as he had suspected it was a case of low blood glucose combined with an overtly excited state that had brought her down in the first place. So, he nodded, and replied in that usual rich, baritone but hypnotically melodious voice of his while snapping his fingers once, with the sharp crack echoing around his office due to the special acoustics "Indeed, I am, for if I did not have these at my disposal, do you think I would have offered them, Ms. Testarossa?"Moments after he fell silent after that initial remark, a custom built, state of the art, though prototype gynoid, aka a robot witht he appearance of a human female which was dressed in a typical anime outfit, this one being a combination of a nurse and a maid, came towards them. Its hands securely held a tray bearing a plate full of various types of cookies from the standard Chips Ahoy! ones to the slightly more exotic like those with M and Ms in standard dough, ones that were double chocolate chip, and also ones with white chocolate and macademia nuts baked into them along with a small glass of orange soda on it. Upon arrival, it offered the tray to Emilia and then went to stand next to Faustein, awaiting his next instructions. Then, Faustein resumed after letting Emilia partake of the small snack "Now then, once you are done partaking of this light snack, we can go over to the patient's area over there and then I shall give you a physical exam to ensure that you have indeed recovered from your episode of vasovagal syncope. After that, if you still desire to look around my office, you may do so, Ms. Testarossa."Then, he shifted gears and addressed her concern about holding up his lectures and at this point, he let out a deep, rumbling chuckle "That will not do, that will not do at all, Ms. Testarossa. You have enrolled in my classes and you shall stay in them barring violation of the institution's policy on failing grades, of course. Besides, I have that effect on a great many people, so there is nothing to worry about in this regard."Then, he fell silent again, waiting for her to finish off the drink and snack so that he could proceed with his duties as the university's resident physician-scientist.

The recovering teen's brown eyes widened behind her thick-framed glasses as the cheery robot presented her with a tray of delicious looking sweets. Robots weren't necessarily uncommon here in Japan but Emilia had never actually seen one aside from the basics. Being new to the region, and born within a poor community, electronics -especially robots- were seen as a luxury. Japan's wealth and technological advancements were just one of the many things that convinced Emilia to take the big leap and accept the invitation to study in the country.
Hastily, and without much thought, she began to 'dig in', almost literally. Although the institution provided her with a stipend, living quarters, and meal tickets, she still found herself always hungry. Spending money, and time, on food was a bother so she would often skip meals in order to continue whatever work she was doing. That aside, she was HUNGRY and this was FREE...so, she partook with a vengeance. Of course, she wasn't a savage. Gingerly, she picked at the snacks and thanked the robot graciously before it moved back to the side of its' master. With a few chocolates still crunching around in her mouth, she quietly listened to her new professor's proposal and nodded unconsciously.
"...we can go over to the patient's area...then I shall give you a physical exam to ensure that you..."
She kept nodding, savoring the sweetness, until he stopped talking. Finally, she stopped the nodding and tried to grasp what had just been offered. Like a boiling thermometer, her face filled in red. OH YEAH!!!!
"OH NO, ahahahhaaa no no nooo. There will be no need for that, Doctor. I am perfectly fine! Just a little lack of food, is all! Locked me knees! No visible bumps or injuries! No need to give me a look over!! A-and I appreciate the offer, but I'm good! Very good!"
She took a breath, catching herself up on his repose to her apology.
"Anyway, thank you, Doctor. I really was looking forward to your lectures so I'm glad you're still willing to have me as a student. And without a doubt, you are correct. I'm sure the school's higher ups wouldn't look too highly on a student who requests to leave a course. You are a very kind and charismatic, professor, and I look forward to learning from you. I'll see you, in class, tomorrow afternoon."
With that, the student stood and bowed for the professor before taking her leave for the day.
