Danger on the Dance Floor

Post by ricochet6-Mandrake on Jul 2, 2020 11:39:32 GMT
Lothar's accidental shattering of the glasses had resulted in an unforeseen problem where one of the shards of her own glass cut her hand. When the bartender came over Mandrake's eyes widened in surprise as whom he was originally telepathically perceiving to be human was actually a digimon in disguise. How did this digimon hide his presence from him he had no idea. The middle aged man on the dance floor might be a digimon as well. "Lothar I think we may have a problem." Mandrake whispered knowing his friend could hear him somehow amongst the noise in the club.
Lothar nodded in understanding since he had figured out the bartender was a digimon by scent alone. Both of them stood up and Lothar said "That isn't necessary. We have a first aid kit with us." Technically Mandrake also had a healing move as well but to use it they would have to blow their cover.

Arissa was surprised when Mandrake and Lothar spoke up and protested the bartender's assistance, and could only wonder why they did so. It wasn't like the bartender had done anything wrong, right? He only seemed to want to help. Meanwhile, the bartender simple stared back at the pair at a loss for words, as if he understood who exactly they were.
Could it be... they were fighting for Arissa's attention? It would make sense, Arissa was very pretty, and even the quiet Lothar was able to warm up to her relatively quickly. Still, she did not want things to progress in that direction just yet. Right now, she just wanted to be friends. Becoming really good friends could wait until later.
"This is alright!" Arissa tried to console the pair. "The bartender is nice man, I am thinking! There is nothing strange about him! I am sure that I will be being the right back!"
"And so it is decided," The bartender plainly stated, nodding towards Mandrake and Lothar before guiding Arissa further back into the club, away from the crowds.
Meanwhile, things were heating up on the dance floor. The disco man was movin' and groovin', to the point where he was knocking several other young men and women to the floor.
"(Hey, hey! You've got to catch my groove!!!)" He yelled out in his accented English as he pointed towards the fallen youths. It seems that his belligerent dancing was getting out of hand.

Maybe the bartender was a friendly digimon. Most that came to the Human World seemed to be with a few exceptions from what Mandrake had observed. Glancing at the dance floor it seemed the middle aged disco dancer was getting out of hand by knocking over various people. "I'll keep an eye out for Arissa. She has no idea what potential danger she could be in."
"And I'll have a talk with our friend on the dance floor." Lothar said as he gestured in the direction of the dance floor.
With the plan in mind Mandrake followed after the bartender and Arissa but far enough away so that they wouldn't spot him soon making it to where the man had taken her. Carefully he peeked inside the room so he could see everything but be ready to interfere if he had to. Meanwhile Lothar had made his way onto the dance floor politely maneuvering past the human dancers with surprising grace. Approaching the middle aged man he placed a hand on his shoulder and said "Alright friend, I think your overdoing things. I think you should be more careful."

As the pair split up, Mandrake followed Arissa and the bartender out into the hallway and towards a section marked "For Employees Only". Thankfully no one spotted him as he got to a rather spacious restroom. Mandrake would hear a suddenly yelp of pain coming from Arissa. If Mandrake was brave enough to peek inside the room, he would spot sitting on top of a counter while the bartender was dabbing at the cut on her hand with a rag covered in disinfectant.
"Forgive me, but this stings," The bartender apologized as wiped her hand down. "There wasn't any bleeding, and there won't be any noticeable damage once he heals up. Just don't do anything to make it worse." He grapped a roll of bandages and quickly wrapped up her hand.
"This is not feeling so bad..." Arissa commented, looking at her freshly-bandaged hand. "But I am wondering why you did not let my friends help me!"
The bartender took a long pause before saying, "It's best if you don't get involved with their kind."
"Why is this? Because they are foreigners?"
"You have no idea..." He muttered before another pause.
"I am foreign as well, so I don't understand why they are so bad!" Arissa exclaimed. "Wait, are they truly criminals? If they are, I am still thinking that we could be friends?"
"Criminals? No... at least... I don't... think so..." The bartender seemed flustered by her question. "But you shouldn't hang around people like them. Or me, for that matter. Not unless you want to put yourself in danger..." Arissa tilted her head curiously.
"But I am still not understanding..." She looked into the bartender's eyes. "And who are you?"
Meanwhile, back on the dance floor, as soon as Lothar put his hand on the disco man's shoulder, he spun around, releasing himself from the large man's grasp. He suddenly threw one leg up, his foot nearly colliding with the tall man's chin before he spun away. He gave Lothar a curious glance before his eyes widened. It seemed he managed to recognize that Lothar wasn't human.
"Hey, come on, man!" He said in strangely-pronounced Japanese "We are both humans tonight, so we will settle this like humans!" He spun in circles, before stopping and snapping his fingers at the large disguised Leomon. "We fight... with a dance battle!"
Many people began to flee from the scene between this apparent conflict with the titanic Lothar and the bizarre disco man.

Mandrake had peeked into the room and listened to the bartender's whole speech about staying away from digimon though not using the word digimon. Moving into the employees only room, Mandrake said "I assure you my friend and I mean no harm to anyone. Though I have more than a sneaking suspicion that you should pay more attention to another customer in this establishment. He's a middle aged gentleman who seems to have been causing trouble on the dance floor."
Meanwhile, with Lothar, the disguised Leomon looked at the disco dude strangely when he challenged him to a dance battle. He then said "I don't know what you are trying to pull but I have a feeling you aren't human since my telepathic friend can't sense what you are for some reason. I'll accept your challenge only if you tell me who you are and how my friend can't tell what you are." Crossing his arms with a stance that clearly said your move Lothar waited to see what Disco Dude would do.

The bartender spun around once Mandrake revealed himself, putting his arm out as if to defend Arissa from the man. Arissa on the other hand, simply waved to the mustachioed man as she saw him. "Oh, so you followed us! That must mean you were worried about me, after all! I am glad to have a good friend!"
"You shouldn't be allowed back here," The bartender declared, but heard Mandrake out. He nodded, but shrugged his shoulders. "He comes in here and stirs up trouble, but if someone tries to stop him... well, I have a feeling you of all people would know how much damage a guy like him could cause should he choose to get violent."
"What is that supposed to be meaning?" Arissa asked curiously. She didn't understand why the bartender and Mandrake were using such vague terms. "I feel like there is something that I am not knowing!"
"But honestly, it doesn't really involve me much, and even if it did, I'm not on his level." He admitted. "I'm just a bartender here. Feel free to stop him if you want, but don't do anything that could jeopardize my job."
"That is not a very nice thing to say!" Arissa protested. "If you will not go out there and stop the rude man, I will do it!" She suddenly stormed past the bartended and Mandrake, back towards the dance hall.
And while she was doing that, the disco man tilted his head curiously towards Lothar. "What do you mean? I am the same as you, but tonight we are both humans, so we must dance!" He twirled around in place, ending his spin with his finger pointing towards the ceiling in the classic disco pose. He lowered his hand so his finger was pointing at Lothar. "Show me your best moves, baby! I will keep on grooving while to lay defeated on the floor!"
It was then that Arissa came storming out and approached the disco man. "You are being a mean person right now and ruining a fun night for everyone! Shame on you!" She slapped him across the face with her uninjured hand as he physically recoiled from the blow. His form shimmered for a second, and for a brief instance what everyone could see was...
His holosuit reactivated soon after, and it was clear he did not react well to being struck by the small young woman. It was clear that he might get violent if he isn't appeased. What would Mandrake and Lothar do?

Mandrake was confused. What did the bartender mean regarding the man on the dance floor. All he knew was he couldn't sense his mind so he couldn't tell if he was a human or digimon. Yet, before he could respond, Arissa ran out of the room toward the dance floor and he yelled "Wait, Arissa! Stop!" Apparently he wasn't heard as the young woman sprinted from sight. "Who or what is on the dance floor and why can't I telepathically sense him? For that matter, why couldn't I sense you as a digimon until you got close to me?" Mandrake knew Lothar could not only take care of himself but he could also keep Arissa safe. He was determined not to move until he got answers.
Meanwhile, with Lothar, Arissa had struck the strange man revealing him to be a digimon known as Piddomon. Gently grabbing ahold of Arissa he pulled her behind him and said "Arissa, get off the dance floor and find cover. I don't know if this guy will be too friendly since you struck him." He wouldn't blame her for being confused and depending on how Piddomon reacted he and Mandrake might have to reveal their true selves as well.

"I don't know anything about your powers not working, and I don't have anything to do with it," The bartender stated as-a-matter-of-factly. Suddenly his form shimmered and in his place was a smaller butterfly Digimon. "I'm just a Digimon looking to keep that girl out of harm's way!" He answered Mandrake, resuming his human form and pushing past the man in order to follow Arissa. He assumed Mandrake would follow him out. "She's not cut out for the dangerous life of a tamer, so it's not right to get her involved with people like us!"
As he moved towards the dance floor, tensions were rising as the disco man suddenly flew into a rage. "You will pay for hitting me!" He shouted as Lothar put himself in between the disguised Digimon and Arissa. "I am going to beat you down! And not like a human!" His form dropped and he appeared as a Digimon once more, with a silver helmet that covered his eyes and pair of silver angel wings on his back that glittered all sorts of colors, reflecting light like a disco ball. But Lothar's massive form blocked her view as the bartender suddenly grabbed Arissa by the arm.
"We have to go, now!" He practically shouted. Arissa looked unsure as she looked back over towards the Piddomon. Meanwhile, the young crowd suddenly began to scream and flee out the door. Several of them pulled out their phones as they did so, presumably to record the strange being.
"Disco... Wave!!!" He shouted out, throwing his hands out as a wave of multi-colored light suddenly pulsated from his body and covered the room. Several people began to scream even louder, many of them dropping their phones as they began to emit smoke.
"What is... I cannot see anymore! What is happening!?" Arissa screamed out in a panic, reaching out desperately and grabbing the bartender.
It seemed like this Piddomon was beginning to get serious.

The bartender revealed himself to be a Morphomon and mentioned he wanted to keep Arissa safe. As the Morphomon reactivated his disguised he shoved his way past Mandrake. Mandrake sprinted after the Morphomon and spotted Lothar shielding Arissa before the middle aged man revealed himself to be a Piddomon. The Piddomon unleashed an attack that reeked havoc on the electronics around and blinded the humans and Morphomon but it seemed he and Lothar were unaffected. Mandrake ran to Lothar and stood alongside his friend before he said "Stop this right now! There is no reason to endanger the humans here because you are angry."
After that Mandrake and Lothar deactivated their holosuits revealing their true appearances of Wizardmon and Leomon respectively. Mandrake tightened the grip on his staff showing he was just as ready for trouble if Piddomon tried anything. Lothar clenched his fists and readied himself to move fast if he needed to. "I agree with Mandrake. If you leave or calm down there will be no need for trouble."

At this point, most of the humans had cleared out on the floor. But the Piddomon was not amused by this fact. His disco night had been ruined by a bunch of kids that couldn't keep up with his groovy moves. Then some large man that was actually a Digimon tried to tell him to stop dancing, when all of the other humans were the ones that could not dance. Did he not realize that the dance floor was a battlefield? Only the strong can remain on his holy ground!
And then, some random human girl had the audacity to strike him in the face! The former angel Digimon was fed up with everything! There was a Leomon and Wizardmon attempting to talk him out of a fight, but they were the ones that should stand down!
"This is my dance floor!" He shouted out belligerently. His silver feathers began to hum with energy as he pointed towards the pair. "You are the ones that must leave! Begone, or I will remove you from this place!" And even though he made these threats, his feet kept shuffling, despite that there was no music playing any longer. But for the Disco Piddomon, all he could hear was the groove of a potential combat.
The only people left on this floor were Mandrake, Lothar, and the Piddomon. In the confusion, the bartender and Arissa were gone. What were they going to do? Despite his goofy premise, it was entirely possible that Disco Piddomon could be more dangerous than he appeared. But would they split up once more in order to find Arissa, or leave her to an unknown fate...

It was a relief that no humans were on the dance floor any longer but as Mandrake glanced back he noticed Morphomon and Arissa were gone too. "Lothar, find Arissa! Make sure she's okay. I'll hold off this Piddomon." Noticing Lothar's hesitance, Mandrake said "Please, old friend, I'll be careful. I promise." Glancing back one last time, Lothar sprinted off the dance floor using his sense of smell to track Arissa.
Turning back to Piddomon, Mandrake said "Now to show you some moves of my own." With a twirl of his staff, Mandrake then said "Magical Game!" The illusion that Mandrake brought forth seemed fitting against a Disco Piddomon seeing as it was a large disco ball that split into three when Mandrake waved his hand. The disco balls then orbited around Piddomon each shining with a variety of bright colors. Now to see how the disco loving digimon would handle his illusion

"Hey, you are running away!" The Disco Piddomon yelled out after the fleeing Leomon. "That means I am the winner, and that you are a loser! Run away, loser!" He laughed at Lothar as he departed. He pointed towards the Wizardmon in front of him. "For a big scary cat like Leomon, he sure is a big scaredy-cat! But you will be running away soon enough once you see my power!"
As Lothar ran out to track Arissa down, he was able to easily pick up her scent. Even though he was in a human form at the time, there was no way he wasn't able to get a whiff of her when she made her rather intimate appearance. He managed to track her down, only to find her in the middle of a fleeing crowd. She was unconscious for some reason, being held by the bartender as he made his escape.
Lothar could chase him down easily enough as a Leomon, but he would be exposing himself to the public. If he reverted back to his human form there was a chance that he could catch up, but there was still no guarantee.
Meanwhile, back on the dance floor, Piddomon couldn't help but marvel at Mandrake's illusion. "Oh, yeah... baby!" He cried out, shuffling his feet once more as he started to boogie down. "That's the way... I like it! You have the powers of disco as well! But..." He gave Mandrake a dirty glare. "Why are you not dancing yourself? If you truly had the powers of disco, you could hear the music from your Digicore!"

Lothar had no trouble catching up as he spotted her unconscious form in the fleeing crowd. Not wanting to cause a bigger panic he reactivated his holosuit and approached the bartender. He then asked "What happened to her? Why is she unconscious?"
Back with Mandrake, the Piddomon seemed amused by the Wizardmon's illusion. Mandrake merely smirked before he said "I never said I had the power of Disco. My true talent lies in the power of magic and now to teach you a lesson for the trouble you've been causing." Pointing his staff at the Piddomon as it became charged with electricity Mandrake then said "Dance to this, Electro Squall!" From Mandrake's staff arose a small thunder cloud that hovered over the Piddomon before bolts of lightning rained down on the Disco loving holy digimon.
With Lothar the sound of thunder attracted his attention as he turned back to the direction he left Mandrake and said "Sounds like the show has already started."

At this point, the bartender wasn't interested in speaking with Lothar. Instead he ducked into an alley, looming into the shadows until he could no longer be found. It may be the case that Lothar would be unable to find him. It was up to Lothar whether he wanted to keep looking, or go back to help Mandrake fight the Piddomon. But would Arissa be safe? He would have to reflect on that later.
Meanwhile, back on the dance floor, things were beginning to heat up as Mandrake sent several bolts of lightning down on the enemy. "Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Stayin' Alive!" Piddomon suddenly cried out, taking a single step in a dance that seemed to avoid each bolt of lightning that descended upon him. He spun around, snapping his fingers and pointing towards the Wizardmon. "You may have magic powers, but nothing is more powerful than disco!" The silver feathers reflected the light of Mandrake's illusion and they suddenly began to ignite.
"Disco... Inferno!" He cried out, flapping his wings and unleashing a torrent of flames upon Mandrake.

"Wait! Come back!" Lothar called out as the bartender disappeared into the depths of a nearby alley after refusing to talk to him. Looking at the club briefly since he was worried about Mandrake, he made the tough choice to follow after the bartender. Lothar had known Mandrake claimed to be not much of a brawler which made sense considering he preferred outwitting his opponents over brute strength. Mandrake usually held back as if he seemed to be afraid to kill another digimon. Lothar knew his friend's views about killing so he didn't resort to killing as well so he didn't upset his friend.
Upon entering the alley he looked around and called out into the darkness "Please come out. I only want to know if she's okay. I mean no harm to her."
Mandrake, meanwhile, had seen the Piddomon not only dodge his lightning but launch a wave of fire his way. Thinking quickly he used his telekinesis to lift his staff in front of him before spinning it in an effort to break up the worst of the attack. He managed to do so but still felt flames singe his body. Biting back a hiss, he managed to say "If you liked my magic before you'll really like this. Clouded Darkness!" With those words Mandrake faded from sight.
