”Mmm… the frozen north is still so far away. Shade should get back up there.”
The WraithGururumon looked down at his map, scratching at his head with a claw. Those in whitewater were a lot more helpful while he was in this form and were less likely to call the guards on him. Even offering assistance with him trying to find his way back to the realm that he wanted to call home.
Which… was going to be a problem given that his portal device had burned out and was quite expensive to repair. So making a trek halfway across the digital world wasn’t going to be easy. Even after helping out with that entire escapade with pirates it didn’t really do much to get him away from the city he harbored some grudges against.
The beast rolled up the map and let out a soft rumble. The day was still young as the sun had only risen many an hour ago; which gave him plenty of time to start trekking across the landscape. But he had to ask himself why he was so driven to go to the north given that it had a lot of area that wasn’t teeming with life.
Simply put he had come into a large swath of turf; a swath of turf he called his own and had fought for. So perhaps… maybe it was instinctual to protect the area he called home. Before too long there was the gentle thudding of his feet against the gravel path. It would take him a good distance before it turned into just the regular beaten grass.
”There must be a better way of doing this…”
He mumbled and stopped, looking about. He was in a more forest like area than before; the smell of the salt from the ocean was a distant memory at this point and he’d take a seat again to look at his map. Unrolling it with a huff. Now he just had to figure out where he was again...

Even the middle of the crowded train station, Airi never even saw her assailant coming. All she saw as a shadow move just a little too quickly out of the corner of her eye, then a hand wrap around her body and hug her from behind. She attempted to scream for help, but a cloth suddenly covered her mouth. Her eyes widened as she realized there was something on the cloth. Some kind of sweet-smelling chemical. Her eyes darted back and forth to the people passing by. Not a single one seemed to even notice or care... Her last thought before she lost consciousness was... It was...
She felt something small and wet scrape against her cheek, with an almost course texture. She stirred and when she opened her eyes, she saw a dog's face staring right back at her. A corgi, if she recalled correctly.
"Arf!" It barked at her before panting, sitting patiently as if waiting for the girl to do something. She sat up, nearly gagging on the horrendously sweet chemical taste she experience before she had passed out. If what The Sergeant said was correct, then there were some... rather illicit people after her for what Sable had done to a couple of goons of theirs... and the massive bag of cash she had apparently liberated from their organization.
"Arf!" The corgi barked once again as Airi absentmindedly pat it on the head, taking a look at her surroundings. She was in a forest and she smelled... salty air? Was she near the ocean? And these surroundings weren't exactly normal. Then she wasn't kidnapped by the yakuza, but instead by...
"Oh, good morning, dear child!" She heard a voice from behind cry out. She turned around to see her. The Sistermon Noir approached her, kneeling down besides the little girl and dog. The overweight corgi rolled over onto its back and she began to rub its... her... belly. "My, I found you unconscious in the train station once more, so I had no choice but to get you away from that world of yours that is full of so many brutish thugs!"
"Like hell you did!" Airi shot back. "And if anyone is after me, then it's all your fault, regardless! Why the hell would you steal money from the fucking yakuza!?"
"Yakuza...?" Sable repeated as if unfamiliar with the word. "Your belongings were lying right next to the large bag, my dear child! I had no idea which bag belonged to you!"
"Maybe you should've realized it wasn't the large bag that was larger and heavier than I am, you idiot!" Airi retorted, pointing an accusatory finger at the Sistermon. She immediately felt a sharp pain in her other hand as the corgi bit down into it. "What the fuck is-"
"Rrrrrgh..." The little dog growled as mouth remained closed around Airi's hand.
"This is Chihaya! Isn't she just adorable?" Sable explained. "But she really doesn't like it when people get angry at me, so it would be best not to lose your temper!" She gave the little girl an ominous grin as she placed her hand gently on top of Airi's head. "You really wouldn't like to see her when she gets angry, my little mascot!"
Airi shook her hand free from the corgi-from-hell's jaws as she glared daggers at her oh-so-friendly Digimon partner. "So why'd you kidnap me and bring me back to the Digital World, partner?"
"You've been hiding out in the human world for far too long, little one!" Sable responded curtly. "We have a mission to achieve, after all. As a general, it is my duty to fill out the ranks of my army with worthy candidates! Sadly... whatever cruel entities behind these accursed contraption..." She held up Airi's black and silver Xros Loader. Airi reached for it, but the Sistermon lifted it out of the little girl's reach. Jerk. "...saw fit to tie a dead weight in the form of a worthless human child. But all trials worth overcoming must be difficult, I suppose." She stood up and dropped the Digivice on the ground as Airi picked it back up. "Come along now, my little mascot. We have some recruiting to do!"
Airi's little outburst would definitely draw the attention of any creatures nearby. Still, she sighed and stood up, preparing to follow her accursed Digimon. This was her second time in the Digital World. The first time, she was chased by some monstrous housecat. What was going to appear in front of her this time, some demonic dog?

Shade continued to read over the map but ultimately he was unable to figure out where he was. There wasn’t enough around for him to do so; so the best he could hope for was to pick a direction until he ran into something that was marked on the darned thing. He’d sigh as he was forced to push his way through some of the underbrushes and eventually?
He overheard some strange conversation; between two people he didn’t know. Their words were fairly muffled but it seemed like it was a heated conversation of sorts. He was curious about what they were talking about. So he’d head towards the source of the disturbance.
He didn’t quite realize just how acute this form’s hearing was; it took him nearly the entire scope of the conversation to arrive near the outlying locale of the trio. The large wolfen hand being the first thing to push and snap one of the branches out of his way.
The first thing they would likely see is that massive hand holding that branch, the next would be his head. Those piercing blue eyes sweeping the location and his brow would furrow. Ears flicking and he’d gently click his teeth against one another.
This was a strange sight to the large werewolf esq creature. The human in front of him had to be the youngest he had ever seen. She was tiny compared to the adults of her race and even tinier compared to the ten foot werewolf. But that didn’t stop his thought process and those eyes would slip from the human to the sistermon that was with her.
He noted that their digivice was different; so that must of meant that their relationship was different too. He wasn’t even sure what he was looking at either. Some humans had multiple partners, some could turn into humans and some were the rarest of the rare and lead armies. He had read about that last one only in books and he highly doubted that was what he was looking at here. His hand tossed the branch off to one side and he’d rumble out a greeting. Unlike his champion form this one was rougher, deeper and didn't sound like multiple people talking at once.
”Good morning.”
He kept his distance but stepped into the clearing; even from this distance his presence was noticeable. His size was easy to ascertain and his power practically bled from his form. In comparison to what was here he was the stronger one but this body and his mind had no desire to hunt what was in front of him. No, in fact it offered a completely different route.
”I’m a bit lost… Do either of you know where this is?”
He prompted the question with the huge roll of parchment that was his map to the duo. While he had no idea what their relationship was or what he was coming into well… He had to start somewhere and his eyes would flick between the three.

As Airi got up to follow Sable through her little trek through the forest, Chihaya spun around towards an approaching figure. In an instant, Sable stepped up to stand in between Airi and the noise through the underbrush. Her weapons hadn't been drawn yet, but Airi knew they could appear at a moment's notice. Then, a large hand appeared. Followed by a large head. And then a large everything as a hulking ten-foot tall fucking werewolf stepped out and approached them as if it were just a casual afternoon.
"Arf! Arf! Rrrrrgh..." Chihaya barked at the newcomer, evidently unimpressed by the creature's size.
"Oh hush, dear Chihaya!" Sable demanded the chunky corgi. "Child, be a dear and grab Chiyaha, would you?" Airi didn't particularly like being told what to do by her, but she bent down and lifted the dog up before it could do something and antagonize the massive Digimon before them. Naturally, Chihaya took the opportunity to bite Airi's hand once again. Spiteful little bitch. "May we help you, my friend?" The Sistermon then asked the encroaching Digimon.
She didn't refer to it by its species, though. Did Sable not know what kind of Digimon this wolfman was supposed to be? Airi had just assumed most Digimon knew of each other's existences or something. But if Sable didn't know the Digimon, that meant that she also didn't know what the Digimon was capable of, and Airi suspected that Sable didn't exactly appreciate that fact in the slightest.
And yet all the large Digimon seemed to want was directions. Airi thought that Sable would visibly relax for a second, but she remained on guard. She was perhaps a little to cautious. And yet the Sistermon suddenly grabbed Airi's unbitten hand and approached the large wolf Digimon.
"But of course, my fellow traveler!" She answered with a bright smile as she took a look at his map, examining it for a brief moment. Before she answered his plight, however, she stepped back and put her hand on her chest. "But of course, forgive me for not introducing sooner, fellow traveler! You may call me Mother Sable!"
"Arf! Arf!" The corgi barked out in protest, struggling in Airi's arms.
"And of course this is our dear comrade, Chihaya!" Sable gestured to the small creature in Airi's arms, though to this beast, Airi assumed that she qualified as a small creature herself. "And the one holding her is..." She gestured towards Airi and paused. Sable would never pass up the opportunity to speak for someone else. Did... did she seriously not remember her name!?
For no reason other than to annoy her partner, Airi remained silent for an uncomfortable amount of time before speaking up. "I'm Hirano Airi!" She said in a bright smile, cutesy tone, and a slightly higher pitch than normal. "But you can call me Ai-chan! It's really nice to meet you, Wolf onii-chan!"

The little canine warranted barely a glance from the large werewolf; in fact he seemed somewhat confused. Was this not a digimon? It didn’t much matter to him as his attention was drawn to sable. Hearing the name of the small beast warranted a small rumble and he’d tilt his head.
”Yes I’m… lost. And I’m afraid I don’t read these maps terribly well.”
The map was held out for the other as long as they wanted or needed. Though not hearing an answer probably meant either they weren’t anywhere near any real locale on the map or they were still processing. He’d fold the map up again and stare down at the trio. Mother sable was the name of the noir digimon. Sistermon noir if he remembered correctly.
”A pleasure to meet you Mother Sable.”
He’d nod his head a bit; managing a large smile down to her and he’d turn his head to Chihaya. So this was what they were called? Hmm. It was strange as the creature didn’t speak. He’d reach out to let the other sniff him. He knew how it was to meet new scents and people so… And even if the other bit him they’d find his hide was far tougher than usual.
The last to respond was Airi, who had to introduce themselves. It was likely that the sistermon couldn’t remember the name of their human by the sound of it. That or they just had become partners so… He’d rub at his chin and blink a bit as he was called Onii-chan? He didn’t know what that meant.
”A pleasure Ai-chan. What are the three of you doing out so far away from a city? It’s rare for humans or… Well. Whatever Chihaya is to be out so far. I presume he’s a feral mon of some kind?”
His confusion was clearly evident and there was nothing but misunderstanding in his voice. He wasn't meaning any disrespect to anyone here and the wolfen creature's ears flicked constantly as he got used to the smells and sounds of the three...

"Well, my lost traveler, you need not worry, for you are lost no longer!" Sable clasped her hands together in an almost prayer-like manner as she pointed towards to what Airi seemed was a random direction. "If you head Northeast from here, you'll reach the city of Whitewater! From there, you can simply take the Trailmon to get wherever you need to go from there on!" For some reason, the Sistermon sounded almost overjoyed at the fact that she could help. Sable was plotting something, and Airi wasn't quite sure what it was. Well, whatever it was, it was probably best that Sable not have her way with this random stranger.
"W-wow, Wolf Onii-Chan, I'm really happy that you'll be able to find your way!" Airi exclaimed with a wide smile and sparkling eyes. "I sure hope you have a safe travel!" Sable gave the girl a quick glare and suddenly Chihaya bit down on Airi's hand once more. "Motherfu-... W-wowee, Ch-chi-chan! Y-y-you sure aren't being very nice today, are you?"
"The child is only being polite, my dear traveler!" Sable explained. "The truth is, we happen to be going in the same direction, but we were concerned for our safety! She's but a small human, and I am no capable fighter!" Her warm, welcoming demeanor turned into one of uncertainty and concern. "But perhaps you would allow us to travel alongside you? I'm sure the local riffraff wouldn't dare assault us if we walked alongside someone so powerful as yourself!"
Shade had reached his hand out towards Chihaya, and at that point Shade could sense that the little corgi, while appearing as a creature unknown to him, was in fact some sort of Digimon. It reached out his neck to attempt to immediately bite the wolf Digimon, but the Airi saw the Sistermon standing behind the mysterious Digimon simply raise a single finger and the chunky dog that was in fact a holosuited Tankmon restrained herself and simply sniffed the strangers hand with a noticeably disappointed face.
"Chi-chan's a doggy from the human world, so please be gentle with her!" Airi explained, despite the fact that she had no idea why there was a dog traveling with them at the moment. Sable didn't seem like the type that took care of pets. "And just like Mother Sable said, we were just traveling!" She flashed another innocent grin. "Say, Wolfy onii-chan, don't you think it's a little strange? We're so weak and scared to travel all alone but we made it all the way out here on our own anyways!" She could only hope the WraithGururumon would have the social nuance to get suspicious and leave them alone. She didn't want to get caught up in whatever scheme Sable seemed to have concocted at the moment, especially when it may involve big bag wolf monsters that probably room for all three of them in his stomach.

Shade didn’t introduce himself. He felt kind of foolish with that fact as he was addressed in various ways that didn’t include his name. He’d close his eyes and exhale a bit; his frosty breath rolling upwards until it was unseen and forgotten.
”Right. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is shade. I suppose wolf or the like also works if you’re in a rush. I don’t care what you call me.”
It wasn’t mean or the like; just straightforward. The wide smile and sparkling eyes managed to make shade raise a brow before he’d merely shrug. He appreciated the gesture of her wishing him a safe journey.
”Thank you. The both of you.”
The wolf digimon tilted his head as Sable explained why Airi was being so polite. They were concerned for their safety; safety now that was beyond compare. He was after all as he figured the strongest around at the moment. Many other ultimates no doubt prowled deeper in the forest but… This was not the deep forest. And even if they did attack a group like this shade would make quick and efficient work of them.
Ever since digivolving to this form his intelligence and prowess had only increased; making him far more dangerous than his prior digivolution. Hearing the request to travel alongside him the wolf gave a shrug.
”Of course. Safety in numbers and all that I suppose.”
The near bite of his hand didn’t really bother him, the sniffing and the like continued for a moment before he’d withdraw it. He didn’t care if he had actually bitten his hand or not; given that he seemed like a nibbler based on the reactions it had to the human holding it.
”Gentle or not. I’d still take care of your hands. Must not like being held.”
He’d raise a brow as she asked him those questions; he’d raise his hand to his chin thoughtfully. Rubbing at it for a moment and just shrugging.
”Sistermon Noir’s are often champion or ultimate level. And a human traveling with a social companion such as ‘a doggy’ would likely yield some suspicion to the wilder mons even if that is not the case.”
His eyes rested on mother sable for a moment and he’d give the pair a small nod. His eyes seemed to be assessing the pair for some reason; but maybe he saw something in the two that others would miss… that or he was suspicious of the pair? Then again. Airi was… the third human he had met? Maybe the fourth? So he had questions of why someone so young would be in the digital world...
”Shall we be off then?”

"And it is a stupendous pleasure getting to meet you, my dear traveler, Shade!" Sable seemed a little too enthusiastic about learning his name, and Airi decided to press the issue.
"Shade? That's a dark and scary name, onii-chan!" Airi commented, holding her finger to her lips as if in thought. "I heard that people with dark-sounding names shouldn't be trusted! What do you think, Mother Sable?" She smiled sweetly at the Sistermon before turning back towards Shade. "Oh, but I trust you, Shade onii-chan!" She forced out a giggle that was immediately cut off by Chiyaha chomping down on her hand again.
Shade mentioned that the damned hellhound must not like being held and she nodded. She considered just dropping the damn mutt but she managed to not be a cruel child and gently set her down. Chihaya just stood there, growling at Airi for a few seconds before running over to Sable's side.
And worse off, this Shade guy didn't seem to be getting what Airi was hinting at. Either that, or he just didn't seem to care. Oh, well. Sable was supposed to be really weak, right? So then this guy probably wouldn't have any trouble tearing her to shreds if she tried anything. Airi thought she could live with that. Still, Sable and Airi were supposed to be partners, right? What if after murdering Sable he decided to hunt her because of that? She couldn't quite live with that part. So she skipped over towards Sable and held out her hand.
"Will you hold my hand, Mother Sable? I'm really scared of all the big and scary monsters that are all over this place! They might grab me when I least expect it and bring me to a strange place against my will!" She gave the Sistermon a cheeky grin at an angle that Shade couldn't quite spot.
"But of course, dear child! If you are scared, then I will gladly lend you my hand for support!" Sable replied, grasping Airi's hand. She managed to keep the irritation out of her voice and face, but she was squeezing down hard on the little girl's hand. Meanwhile, Chihaya kept growling at the girl and started chewing on Airi's shoes. The little girl tried to shoo her away with her feet without outright her.
"So, my dear traveler..." It took her a second, but she set off in the direction of Whitewater at a relaxed pace. "Shade, that is. It seems like you've been traveling as of late. Are you traveling for the sake of the journey, or are you perhaps in search of something?"

The enthusiasm of the sistermon was met with a slightly raised brow; he’d turn his head to look down at Airi as she spoke. A dark and scary name? He’d rub at his chin and hearing that people with dark sounding names shouldn’t be trusted.
”Shade’s prior forms are all made of shadow, anger and pain. Darkness was all he knew for a long time so a dark name seemed only fitting when he picked it. Maybe someday it will be something different.”
He flicked his ears as Airi continued into the fact she trusted him; which was odd to the large wolf. His eyes looked between the two and he’d look to the beast. It seemed that it preferred the company of the sistermon and the large creature shifted it’s weight a bit.
The banter between these two were strange to the wolf and he’d roll his shoulders. Turning to look in the direction that whitewater was in; his large steps made it easy for him to keep up with the others or even lead the way a bit but he’d slow down when he realized he was getting a little bit ahead.
”Hmm. His travel is with a purpose. Every time he attempts to use his travel box it takes him somewhere that he does not know rather than where he is trying to get to. So this is just yet again another instance of Shade trying to get home. Or as home as the frozen north can be.”
His voice rumbled deep and he’d provide the ‘box’ that the other two would likely recognize as one of those Digi-ports. The outer shell of it was charred, cracked and black. Likely from extensive use or from the fact that it was operating poorly. Suffice to say this was likely the condition he had obtained the box in so he probably had no clue that it wasn’t supposed to look like that.
”...And Shade supposes if you want to consider it. He has never been to most of the digital world as he was born in the dark area; so this travel is for the sake of traveling and why Shade is not upset that he is far away from his home.”
The dark area itself was something he missed dearly and he cursed the appearance of the red every morning he wasn’t in his homeland. His head turned to the other two and those piercing blue eyes lay on the three.
”What of you three?”

"Sh-shadow, anger and pain...?" Airi questioned. Was he supposed to be... like, one of those death metal enthusiasts or something? It all sounded a little too... edgy to be taken seriously for the little girl. Seriously, who talks like that!?
But Sable had an entirely different reaction. With her crocodile tears welling up in her eyes and a concerned expression on her face reached up to place her hand on the Digimon's chest. "Oh, you poor, lost soul... though your name and your past may be dark indeed, you need not worry any more! Though you once tread the path of shadows, you should not be scared to tread the path of light, either! For it is the path of light that you can walk along path of justice and righteousness! It is not always a pleasant path, but it is one that I find the most fulfilling!"
Airi just stood there, silent. As Shade took large steps he easily moved ahead of Airi and her tiny legs, even slowing down a bit to let her catch up. Smug jerk with his stupid, long legs. He spoke about his intentions going north.
"I guess you like cold weather, then..." Was all Airi could comment on. Here she was thinking that this guy preferred to be around fire and brimstone. He held out a strange device that the girl didn't quite recognize. Whatever it was, it looked horrendously damaged. He said it was a... "travel box"? What the hell was that supposed to be? "Well, it sure does look broken! Can't you get it fixed somewhere or just get a new one?"
He mentioned being from somewhere called the dark area. Why... would anyone name their place "the dark area"? That's like, naming your house the "Hall of Evil" or a school "The Temple of Child Abuse". A place like "the dark area" was just asking to have a bad rep!
Shade had asked them what she, Sable, and Chihaya were doing out here, so naturally Sable spoke up before Airi could say anything, like how she was drugged and brought here against her will, for example. "Oh, we're just a group of weary travelers looking for able-bodied comrades!" Sable stated, placing a hand on Shade's arm. "I myself come from the most humble of beginnings, but in my ever-present humility, I seek comrades to aid me in my quest to better the Digital World and make it a place for all who wish to walk the path of love and peace to do so!"
"Arf!" Chihaya commented, adding in her words of wisdom.

”It was how shade was created. When he was still a rookie shademon.”
Shade shrugged his shoulders and didn’t seem too bothered by the other repeating what he had said. Sure it sounded dark and edgy but it was true; he was an amalgamation of emotions and memories given form. Sable’s reaction brought nothing but a blank stare from shade; the way she said that made him feel a bit odd honestly.
”I wouldn’t say that shade walks a path of justice and righteousness. Shade walks the path of survival.”
Shade shook his head; he didn’t want to walk a path of darkness or light. He wanted to live. He wanted to be one with his surroundings and wanted a group of people he could trust beyond a shadow of a doubt. His ear flicked towards airi and he’d nod slightly.
”This body is keyed to the north. Toughened by it even.”
Shade looked down at his travel box and frowned; Airi had a point there but there was another issue that shade realized here. He had no idea if they were easy to come by in terms of parts or just… getting a new one. He had found this one in the wilds after all!
”Shade doesn’t know how rare the parts or these things are to begin with. It is the first time shade has ever really dealt with one.”
Shade rolled his shoulders and he’d turn to look at sable as they walked along; they were a group of travelers looking for able bodied comrades? Shade stared at them and there was a soft click in his head as sable placed that hand on his arm.
”So you’re looking for more mercenaries then? The mission guild is a good hub to get able bodied individuals other than running into them.”
He’d rumble softly and consider for a moment what she said; so she sought to better the digital world? That was a lofty goal there and he wasn’t sure how on board he was with the idea. The road to hell was paved in good intention after all..
”I don’t know about the whole love part but peace is something that shade thoroughly enjoys.”
Peace also let him hunt, grow fat and be lazy. It was something he wanted to get back to but everytime he would settle down something happened to yank him away from what he knew. His gaze shifted from sable down to Chihaya; there was a certain amount of curiosity still in his eyes but… His grip tightened around that box and he’d look to it.
”Hmm. Shade thinks he knows someone that could help. She is very strong from what shade remembers.”

"You were created?" Airi asked aloud in her cutesy girl voice. "But Magnus onii-chan said that Digimon came from eggs... is there another way to be born? Or was that just a figure of speech?" She wasn't sure if she should be so inquisitive, but regular little kids asked a bunch of stupid questions, right? And the more information she had, the better. The weird wolf was such an anomaly. From how Shade and Sable spoke, he was by far the strongest thing they had yet to encounter.
Naturally, Shade's reaction to Sable's drivel was about what Airi expected. No one talks like that, let alone so eccentrically. But Sable seemed to have the response for him. "To survive is an understandable goal, but it is a paltry path compared to standing side-by-side with your peers and uniting for a common cause of love and eternal peace!" She clasped her hands and stared back at the dark wolf's stare with glimmering, silver eyes. Despite the fact that the Sistermon didn't believe an ounce of the bullshit she was spouting, she put up a convincing performance.
"I'm just a little kid so I don't really get it..." Airi prefaced before saying what she wanted to say, "But the only you'll find out is if you do the research, right? So I think you should come with us to the city and ask around! I'm sure Mother Sable and I can help you look!" Plus, she might be able to swipe one or two of those teleporters for herself. Hell, if she could get a teleporter that led her right back to the Human World, then she ditch Sable whenever she wanted. Because apparently no one taught her that kidnapping was off the table for partnerships.
Shade suggested something called a mission guild? Airi could surmise what it was, but it sounded a little... strange to her. But apparently Sable had other plans. "Oh, my dear Shade, I fear you don't understand! I am not looking for hired goons to do my bidding!"
"Arf!" Chihaya helpfully added.
"I seek comrades who are willing to walk along the path of justice and righteousness with me! Could you really trust someone willing to lend you their strength for mere bits to never stray from the path of love and peace?" Reading between the lines, Airi could tell what the Sistermon was thinking. She didn't want a group of hired guns, but rather loyal followers to do her bidding. But you would have to know the real Sable to glean this information.
"But I sure am interested in meeting this strong person, though!" Airi declared. "Especially if they're strong enough to take Sable out in an instant! For example!" She let out a girlish chuckle followed by a sweet smile.

”My kind is created by extreme negative emotions and memories. So while Sister Sable is correct; there are indeed other ways to be created. It is a miserable way to come into being and shade would not recommend it.”
The low growl of the wolf marked his irritation and the wraithgururumon stepped a little slower; looking oddly thoughtful. Hearing her speak further his eyes slid to sable. A paltry path compared to that? He’d shake his head slowly.
”Shade will worry about that sort of life for when his own struggles are not so overwhelming. Hard to look to the future when your stomach and mind are empty or lacking.””
He knew for a fact that his own struggles were going to be an issue in the future; once he had a good chunk of personal space and had plenty of food… Maybe he could look into that. But as is he wasn’t a help to anyone was he?
”This is true Shade supposes. Whitewater is a place shade has been to before so… perhaps there are many he could run into that could help.”
Shade shook his head and then flicked an ear; sable wasn’t looking for hired goons. It made sense that she would want people looking to walk with her. He’d rumble out softly and consider what she said further. A mission guild would still be good to find others that were kin or had info of those beyond right?
”Shade wasn’t meaning someone that you pay for it, but there are plenty of contacts and information that Sable and Airi could meet or get. They might know others willing to walk your path.”
Shade nodded his head and continued forward, eventually they’d run into a road or something right? That’d have to lead them closer to the city… or further into the forest if their luck was poor.
”Shade has managed to keep up with tellings of her strength. From what he knows she is of mega and shade can only assume she’s become stronger. I miss my friend dearly but our paths are not always ones to cross.”

"Umm... Right! I'll take your word for it, Shade onii-chan!" Airi noted when Shade was referring to his origins and his recommendations against being created in such a manner. It was so bizarre that she didn't quite know how to respond to it, really. She was beginning to sense a pattern with this wolf creature, and this entire world in general. He also seemed to not think too highly of Sable's criticism's of his way of life. How shocking.
"But with comrades to walk beside you, ones that will provide for you during your times of need, then you no longer need not worry about an empty stomach and a lacking mind! For if you're willing to fill another's stomach and impart knowledge to another, they will surely do the same for you during your times of need! This is something that I wish to do not just for my future comrades, but for the entire Digital World!" Sable began to spew even more of her bullshit, though Airi did kind of see her reasoning. Whether or not the Sistermon actually believed it or not was an entirely different matter.
Airi listened intently as Shade insisted on doing the mission guild or whatnot. Personally, she didn't quite understand what Sable was getting at with the whole recruiting allies part. Or for Sable, recruiting easily-manipulated minions. Like a damned dog that kept nipping at Airi's heels at every opportunity. Still Sable didn't bring it up any further, instead remaining silent on the matter.
Then Shade continued speaking the praises about some great and powerful person. Airi wasn't sure if he was really in awe of this person, or he was just being overly dramatic at this point. He hadn't even given a name or really anything identifiable in the slightest, and it felt out of place for Airi to ask. She would rather get to Whitewater, see if she could obtain one of those teleporter thingies and bounce. Maybe if she warped away from Sable's clutches enough times the Sistermon would just give up and leave her be from now on. Perhaps if her partner were a better person she would feel a little guilty about wanting to ditch her partner, but as it stood, being kidnapped twice so far was putting the little girl a little off.
And yet Sable remained silent once more, instead looking at the Sistermon stare up into the sky. Airi looked up as well, but couldn't really see it very well. Sable had a much better vision than she did, be it from being a Digimon or just having that natural talent. And the Sistermon remained silent. "Hey, Mother Sable, what is it that you see up there?" She finally asked.
"There are two Digimon flying up there. One seems to be being attacked by the other..." Airi still couldn't quite make it out, but Sable pointed up where a large black bird was chasing down a smaller metallic winged creature. The larger bird swiped at the smaller one with its talons, and the little one was sent crashing down into the trees back where they had been going. Airi was able to see it when started to fall. "It looks like the little one is going to be prey."
Airi looked towards Sable's rather unconcerned tone, then looked over towards Shade, wondering what he thought of the situation.

Shade rolled his shoulders and gave a shrug; honestly there wasn’t more to say about that and then sable continued to speak. Something about no longer needing to worry about an empty stomach or lacking mind. He’d stare at her blankly; slowly blinking and eventually just shaking his head.
”Look Mother Sable; Shade understands where you are coming from.”
There was a but there right? No? Shade just simply left off there? He didn’t seem to know where to take this. Not in a bad way but it was hard for him to process everything all at once; his breathing was getting agitated and his pupils had started to narrow into slits. Was it because of the drivel? Or was it something else?
Regardless a couple slaps to his head ended up snapping him out of whatever it was. His ears flicked a bit and the mon looked up following where they were looking only to see that two mons were fighting one another. A small metallic creature being attacked by a black bird?
Metal digimon were rare to find in the wild and he’d grit his teeth. Metal digimon were strong usually and that meant that something must have happened. Airi would find shade moving towards the locale of where the other would be falling.
”If mother sable really thinks all that; then here’s her opportunity to put it into practice.”
Was all he had to say about it; his words were soft and gentle. Oddly so for someone so big. He wasn’t moving faster than either could keep up with; honestly he had the right of mind here. If they helped this person out; they could bring them to whitewater and these two could learn more about the place right?
He didn’t need to step into the city itself. A city he had massive problems with and was trying to think of a way to get out of it. He’d pause near a tree for a moment; eyeing it before moving on. The parts of him that wanted to start marking his territory with claws or fang was getting to him. Whoever this was before; whatever data that was there before was highly territorial…
”Shade knows how to do basic treatment stuff. Do either of you know how to fix a metal bird? Because shade doesn’t.”
