It seemed that Sable's insistence seemed to be irritating Shade, as his demeanor was beginning to turn into something less... calm. And either Sable didn't pick up on it, or better yet, she simply didn't seem concerned with Shade's relative annoyance.
"It is good to understand where I'm coming from, but that is only the first step, my dear Shade!" Her lecture continued. "For it doesn't matter where I come from, but rather where you stand, and the direction that you are heading! Your misery, and your loneliness can all be alleviated by finding the right companions for you to travel with!" She placed her hand on Airi's head and the little girl resisted the urge to channel her inner Chihaya and bite a finger off. "Just because my traveling companions were chosen by destiny does not mean that you're incapable of finding partners of your own, be they connected by fate or not!"
But then the Saberdramon had attacked the MailBirdramon, and the small metal bird Digimon came crashing down into the woods. And the Sistermon seemed relatively nonplussed by it.
Annoyed by Sable's reaction, Airi began to make her way over towards where the fallen creature alongside Shade. And Sable moved quickly to get ahead of them. "I can assure you that this is no mere practice, my dear Shade!" The Sistermon insisted. "This is simply part of my life! Come along, Chihaya!" The small dog suddenly scrambled over towards Sable as she scooped her up and put the dog on her shoulder.
The group were able to find the MailBirdramon rather quickly, as it was crawling along the ground with a damaged wing, letting out a weak squeal of pain as it moved along. Airi approached it almost immediately. It certainly looked strange, but she didn't care much for seeing small injured creatures.
It was no bigger than a small hawk, and even the little girl was able to hold it in her arms. For being made of metal, it was surprisingly light. It struggled in her arms for a couple of seconds, but eventually gave up. Airi debated things for a second, then pressed a button on her Digivice. A digital being emerged from the screen, forming into a Commandramon that gave a quick salute to Airi and then nodded towards Shade.
"This is Sarge, he's also one of my partners!" Airi simply stated, looking towards Shade as well as Sable. The Sistermon's jaw dropped for just a split second, but she regained her composure with a sly smile.
"I see... I had not known that you had already obtained another partner!" Sable exclaimed. "I know not why you felt it necessary to keep him a secret from me, but... the more the merrier! It is a pleasure to meet you, Sergeant!" The Commandramon simply stared at her and nodded in silence once more. "He is not much of a talker, I assume?"
Sarge looked back towards Airi, and then the girl had forgotten that she had ordered him to shut up while she was at school earlier today. "Permission to speak!"
"It's nice meeting you all," He stated almost immediately, examining the surroundings and watching the Saberdramon circle around the treetops. They were much to thick for the large bird to finish off its fallen prey. It did seem to notice the group as they approached, but it didn't make any move to attack just yet. He stepped over towards the MailBirdramon, examining the injuries.
"Is there anything you can do to fix it?" Airi asked, all semblance of her innocent little girl facade had faded away. "I know you're part machine, so..."
"I can perform minor repairs, but even machine Digimon will naturally repair given time. Their data is no different from other Digimon," He held his arms out and Airi put the small Digimon into his hands while looking at the Saberdramon above the trees. "There seems to be an enemy waiting for us to move to a more vulnerable position."
