"Gotta hand it to ya, Gracie, you sure are a sweet one for takin' us all the way out here!" Artie, a blue lizard that was apparently called a Vmon rubbed the side of the train before giving it a pat. The train let out a hooting sound as he did so, but it seemed... surprisingly pleased for some reason. Because apparently, the trains in this world were alive. "Oh, you know you don't have to tease me like that! You and I both know that I'd be knocking on that engine room door if it weren't for that jealous husband of yours!"
The train, apparently named Gracie, let out another hooting noise, and for some reason, the front of it looked like it was... blushing!? Was it... she? They? Was Gracie really into those kind of cheesy lines? Well, it didn't seem like this Artie... guy seemed all that harmful. Hell, he managed to convince Sakura to step onto the train with he and his red lizard buddy right after getting involved with some bipedal fox creature that thought a little too fondly of scones.
Eventually Gracie departed after a few more minutes of train-flirting with the Vmon, and then he turned to the young woman and gave her a grin. "Anyways, you gotta come and see our place! We're here at the Rosewood Station, where a lot of younger Digimon end up living! Our den is still a little bit outside of city limits, though, but it's still a short trek! Come on!" He started making his way through a forest path, while Lan, his red lizard buddy that was called a Guilmon, trailed behind.
Normally Sakura wouldn't be so foolish as to follow a pair of weird-looking strangers onto a train she had never been to before, then willingly follow them to their house out in the middle of the woods. But she was simply going with the flow of this bizarre day, and there were questions that she wanted answered. "And this is it!" Artie cried out with his arms spread open as if to display the spectacle of his home. "Kind of a sweet pad, isn't it! We like to call it the Dragon's Den! What do you think?"
"It looks..." Sakura didn't quite know how to describe it. "Spacious..." The Dragon's Den was nothing more then a deck. No ceiling, or furniture, or anything. Just a floorboard with no walls. There were camping supplies off in the corner of the floor, as well as a fridge that... didn't seem to be connected to anything. Lan the Guilmon hopped up to the deck - there weren't even any steps that went up to it, walked over to the fridge, pulled out three boxes of juice and made his way back over towards the other two.
"Apple..." He simply stated for clarification. He tossed a juicebox to Artie and Sakura, both of them managing to catch them, before taking a seat and dangling is lizard legs over the side of the deck. Sakura nodded her thanks, only to notice the juicebox didn't have a straw glued onto the back. She noticed Artie and Lan simply poke a hole with their nails and claws, then drink directly from the box.
"So, you said your name was Sakura, right?" Artie asked as the young woman nodded in response. "Well, Sakura, you've gotta show us that sweet move you used on that Renamon back in the human world! I thought humans were supposed to be really weak, but that was just so freaking cool! Plus you were totally the only one that was able to lay a finger on him! Are you some sort of Ultimate-level human or something?"
"No... I just acted instinctively..." Sakura replied, unable to hide the embarrassment in her face. She hadn't been called strong for a long time. "It was that fox creature that ended up self-destructing, so..."
"Anyways, Lan and I sure are lucky to have a partner like you at our side!" Artie exclaimed with excited eyes. Partner!? What the hell were they going on about? "With your help, Lan and I are gonna get super strong and find all the others in no time!"
Okay, this little lizard boy was just talking nonsense now. "I have a few questions..." Sakura piped up a little nervously. "For example... What the hell is going on here! Why is there an abandoned section of the terminal that leads to a forest? How are there trains that communicate with people? Where exactly did this thing come from!?" She held up a blue and red scale-patterned device. "And... What. The hell. Is a Digimon!?"
Sakura's voice was nigh-hysterical at this point, and it could be heard by just about anyone nearby.

Stacy walked through the Eastern Timberlands while eating an apple she had packed. It wouldn't silence her insanely demanding stomach but it would give her enough to get by on until she decided to forage for food later. The trees were thick making riding her motorcycle impossible but the thirty eight year old didn't mind walking and if there was trouble she could digivolve. Soon she heard a near hysterical shout though the words were hard to make out. Whipping out her D-Tector from her pocket she clenched it in her left hand after what had developed into a nervous habit. Since this habit kept her alive she didn't complain or even question it anyway.
'One of my champion forms will do fine. My beast spirit would find moving through these woods difficult considering how large I become.' Stacy thought as she decided to use the human spirit she had used the least. "Execute! Human Spirit Evolution!" she said as a glowing bubble surrounded her. As the sequence finished the bubble burst revealing a six foot tall anthropomorphic fishing cat with a course powder blue coat. "Nanamimon!" she said revealing the name of the digimon she had become. Swishing her broad tail, which ended in a rounded flipper, she sprinted in the direction of the yell and poked her head into a clearing.
Looking at a deck occupied by a human and a pair of dragon digimon, Nanamimon moved in and asked "Hey is everyone okay?"

"Someone's coming!" Lan suddenly yelled out, sniffing the air around him and turned to the direction Stacy would soon appear in.
"Who!?" Artie looked towards the Guilmon, then turned towards the direction Lan was facing. Soon, a strange, humanoid, cat-like creature appeared from the treeline and approached the group in a hurry.
"What even is that!?" Sakura gasped, pointing towards the Nanamimon that had just appeared. Stacy would be able to tell that she was the owner of the voice she heard before. "C-crazy kung-fu foxes, red and blue dragon things, living trains, and now this walking cat monster!? What is even going on here!?"
But Artie the Vmon was much calmer. He turned towards Lan and said with a smirk, "Looks like we got ourselves an uninvited guest!" He proclaimed, looking back towards Stacy. "Lan, you know exactly what we do to people who show up unannounced!"
"Yeah... I'll handle it..." Lan said, baring his fangs into a smile as he hopped down from the deck to walk menacingly up to the cat-lady. He extended one of his hands toward her, his long, sharp claws evident and yelled out, "Welcome, stranger! Would you like to something to drink? Feel free to take a seat anywhere, even though their aren't many places to sit!" He then forced out an awkward laugh.
"I think that's enough yelling, buddy!" Artie loudly suggested towards the Guilmon. Lowering his voice, he turned to Sakura and whispered, "Lan's people-skills still need some work, so I've been trying to get him some practice, y'know?"
Sakura didn't respond to the Vmon's casual aside. She was feeling just a little overwhelmed at the moment.
"Would you like something to drink? We have a fridge full of juice, and a couple boxes of chocolate milk left!" He shouted while only a couple of feet away from the six-feet tall transformed human. Lan took a whiff of the creature, detecting the faint scent of apples. "Oh, you like apples? We'll get you some apple juice!" He ran back, hopped back onto the deck and opened up the fridge, yet recoiled back.
"What's wrong, Lan!?" Artie gasped, sitting up and approaching the Guilmon. Lan leaned down and whispered into the Vmon's ear. Artie simply chuckled and pat the Guilmon's side. "That's it? There's no need to get worked up so much over that!" He turned back to Stacy and called out, "Hey! Sorry, but we're all out of apple juice! Is there anything else you'd like?"
"Well, you can have this one if you'd like..." Sakura pointed out, holding out her unopened juicebox. "I'm not really thirsty, and I'm not a fan of sweet drinks, so..."
This time Artie recoiled back, as the two dragons slumped up against each other in defeat. "W-we're the worst hosts ever..."

Hearing the girl's confusion caused the following thought to enter her mind. 'Looks like she's new to the whole digimon thing.' To answer the teen's confusion, Nanamimon said "I see you are new to this whole digimon thing. I haven't been dealing with them that long compared to others myself. Normally I am a human but since I gained the ability to utilize the spirit of a digimon, I've been searching for my different forms. In this form, I am an ancient marine digimon known as Nanamimon." She then returned to her human form and continued "My name is Stacy and I only came because I thought someone was in danger."
Not put off by the Guilmon's behavior, Stacy said "Don't worry about it. I've known some folks that were socially awkward." When offered a drink, Stacy said "It's okay. I'm not thirsty right now."
When the two dragons slumped in looking upset, Stacy said "Don't be so hard on yourselves. How were you supposed to know another friendly person would show up."

Almost immediately the cat creature transformed into a middle-aged woman and began expositing information that Sakura wasn't even remotely equipped to handle. Sakura was a newbie to Digimon. She utilizes the spirits of Digimon. Searching for form. Nanamimon. She introduced herself as Stacy, and Sakura had to put her hand up to stop her. "Thank you for the information, but my original question still stands! What... is a Digimon!?"
Artie let out a laugh, presumably having recovered from his earlier dilemma. He stood up, walked over to Stacy and held out his hand. "Sorry, we were gonna give her the rundown, but we kinda got distracted! Name's Artie the Vmon, pleasure to meet ya! My buddy over there is Lancel, but everyone just calls him Lan!" He turned and held his arm out to the deck and all its equipment. "And this is our secret base - the Dragon's Den!" He went over and patted Sakura on the leg. "And this here is Sakura! She's our new teacher! She's gonna make us really strong!"
"Wait, teacher!? How... why... Is no one seriously going to explain to me just what the hell is going on!?"
"Ah... well... that's kinda hard to..." Artie scratched his head for a second, at a loss for words. Then he just decided to pass the buck. "Hey, Lan! Can you tell Sakura about the Digital World?"
Lan nodded to the Vmon and began. "In the beginning, there was the Tree! And the Tree was Yggdrasil!"
"Gonna have to stop you there, Lan! We need to be a little more brief than that! But nice try, buddy!" Artie consoled the Guilmon before turning to Stacy. "Oh, big sis Stacy! You're a human! I bet you can explain this stuff better! Go for it!"

"A digimon is the general term for most monsters native to the Digital World. They come in many species with some being strong and some weak." Stacy may have been playing things by ear from the day she got to Japan but there was still much she didn't understand about digimon despite being able to reach the ultimate level. Hell, when it came to fighting she would just utilize the guidance from the spirit she drew power from even though such guidance was nothing more than instinctive nudges considering how ancient her forms were.
After Artie introduced himself, Lan, and Sakura, Stacy said "Nice to meet all of you. Sorry I don't know much about digimon matters despite dealing with digimon for several months. I just learned enough to get by I'm afraid." She had to admit Artie and Lan were funny but seemed to be nice enough digimon. Then a thought came to mind and she said "Hey, Sakura, did you happen to acquire a small gadget recently?"

(hey hey hey it's Liver)
Travis was making his usual routine in the eastern timberlands area. He didn't know the place too well, but it was a nice and serene place for him to practice. His partner was sitting comfortably in his shoulder as the tall man was much larger than the small Digimon. Usually the two would patrol and beat up strange people and those who were lazy because it was unproductive and served only to hurt this world. It was difficult sometimes because the Digimon was small and Travis only had a wooden sword, but most of the time his fists and some improvisation was all that was needed.
"Boss I am hungry." The digimon always complained, but Travis didn't care. They would get food eventually, eating on a set schedule was important to keep the mind and spirit focused. Besides, it was now sunglass polishing time which was considered to be sacred and important as it was the main cool factor at the moment. A small digimon and a wooden sword were easily mitigated by the fancy shades. But still the average cool score was very low.
Travis used his sharp eyesight to spot some people in the distance that seemed to have a conversation. The man smiled, it was time to do something cool and stylish. His a few strides of his mighty legs, the duo arrived close to the others.
"Hey hey hey! People, what are you doing here? Not plotting anything evil? If you are you can tell me." He smiled and it seemed genuine, but in reality he was only asking so he could know their intentions and if they were bad he would beat them up like usual. "Otherwise if you have some food to spare I don't mind paying you by letting you bask in my presence for a bit for free."

Finally, someone was making sense! Stacy began to explain things about like what Digimon and the Digital World were, and though was able to understand the words, she found them incredibly hard to believe. If it weren't for the fact that she came out of a train station to some strange forest region, and was currently at a partially-constructed house in the middle of nowhere where its two residents were two blue and red lizard creatures. It was like everything she had ever known was suddenly turned on her head, and she just needed some time to adjust.
Stacy had inquired if Sakura had come across a strange gadget earlier. "Do you mean this?" She raised up a blue and red scale-patterned Xros Loader.
"Yep! That's one of those Digivice thingies that means you're partners with a Digimon!" Artie added. "And those partners would happen to be yours truly, and Lan over here!" He gestured his hand over towards the Guilmon who gave Sakura a wave. "Oh, and there's gonna be more, eventually, but we gotta travel the world to find them! And to do that we gotta get a little stronger than we are! So teach us that kung-fu you used on that Renamon from earlier, teach!"
Once again, Sakura heard a bunch of words she understood but couldn't comprehend. Basically, the strange creatures needed her help to... train them or something? "That's kind of sudden, and, I don't think that I'm the..."
Before Sakura could deny their request however, another man and a small Digimon came into view, cheerfully approaching them with a casual swagger. And he asked... if they were plotting anything evil? What kind of question was that!?
"Hey, I don't know about evil, but we're sure up to no good!" The Vmon joked with a playful chuckle. He looked towards Lan, then jerked his head over towards the fridge. The Guilmon made a mad dash towards the fridge to get a drink. "We're a little light on food right now, but the least we can do is give ya some refreshing drinks, traveler!"
The Guilmon returned, stepping up to Travis and unnamed Digimon partner and offered them each a purple juicebox. "All we have left is grape juice! I hope you like it!"
"Anyhoo, the name's Artie, and this is my buddy Lan! And here's our very own human partner Sakura, and this big sis is a fellow traveler named Stacy! Welcome to the Dragon's Den!"

'So she is a Xros General.' Stacy thought. She herself had seen only one Xros Loader in all her time as a Spirit Wielder. Maybe they were a rare sight or maybe she just had a habit of bumping into mostly tamers, who knew? "I see you have the digivice of a Xros General. That sure is quite different from mine." she said as she showed them her D-Tector. "As you all can see, I'm not a Xros General but a Spirit Wielder."
When the unknown man and digimon appeared the young looking middle aged woman looked in his direction and judging by Stacy's posture she was entering her protective mode as her left hand squeezed her D-Tector. She was ready to fight if necessary but wanted to give the man a chance. Even though he came off as overconfident to her. What was she expecting anyway? Not everyone knew she was stronger than she initially appeared at first glance.

Travis sized up the two digimon and the partner thinking to himself "I could beat them in a fight very easily, like it would be just like a video game fight where the character is strong and theres a few grunts before the big boss only in this case I am the big boss and the grunts except I'm obviously not evil." He chuckled to his own amusing though as he would take a long step forward, erasing the distance between him and the group.
The dragons den? Where are the dragons then? Heh, not to worry, I'm only making a joke." The teen crossed his arms as he gave a nod to the offer of juice. His partner would probably love that. Indeed the small Digimon was excited about the offer. "Hooray, give me the juice. If possible heat up the juice in an oven before so it's extra yummy." Travis was glad he managed to find something at least. It was important to take care of his partner after all. "Pleased to meet you, I'm Travis and this is my partner Samurai, but you can call him Sam."
As his partner hopped off and approached the Guilimon dinosaur, Travis noticed the defensive posture of the human, no doubt a spirit user. "Hehehe, not to worry. Even if you are an evil doer I will have to wait for my partner to drink up before slicing your head off so you can relax." He delivered his line in a cool manner, his shades glistening against the sun as he would grin. He loved to get a rise out of people.

Stacy had shown her own strange device to Sakura, and she thought it looked a little different than hers. She was still talking about stuff Sakura had no idea about, but she felt that she might be able to pick up what was being said eventually. So she simply decided to stay silent until she could figure out what was going on. Clearly asking for clarification wasn't working, as it all just led to more and more questions. Then in response to the stranger's arrival, Stacy gripped her device like it was some sort of weapon. Was she planning on transforming into that strange cat creature again?
But Artie also seemed to notice Stacy's reaction. "Hey now, there's no need to get so antsy, everyone! We're all friends here now, okay? So lets all just have some juice, have a seat, and just chill for a while!"
"Good to meet ya, Travis and Sam!" He answered their greeting with a grin. "And the dragons happen to be right here!" He gestured towards himself and Lancel.
Meanwhile the Guilmon was attempting to heat up Sam's juicebox by letting a small amount of fire out from his mouth. "We don't have an oven, so this was the best that I could do..." Lancel admitted, handing Sam a warm juicebox.
Meanwhile, Sakura wasn't quite sure how she felt about this newcomer, who spoke so casually about slicing someone's head off. The sixteen-year-old moved a little further away from the strange man.

Stacy looked at the boy realizing his threat level was likely low considering he had an in-training digimon with him. Was he new to digimon? That was most likely so she loosened the grip on her D-Tector and stuffed it back into her left pocket. When he talked about slicing off their heads, Stacy chuckled briefly before she said "You talk a big game don't you, Travis? Well I hate to tell you but neither you or your partner would stand a chance against me considering I can reach the ultimate level. I'm sure any of the digimon here can explain why picking such a fight is a horrible idea."
Good thing age had brought Stacy more than wisdom as it had given her the time to get through her cocky faze long before she got her D-tector earlier this year. Now that she thought about it, she was surprised she had gotten so strong in such a short time. That and how she seemed lucky to have gotten nothing more severe than some cuts and a black eye.

Travis was unsure of wwhat to make of the two digimon who were supposed to be dragons because they were clearly dinosaurs and not dragons, but he thought that even a dinosaur can be a dragon if a dinosaur wanted to be a dragon badly enough. Perhaps the inner dragon mattered the most to a dinosaur. That didn't really matter to Travis anyway. Sam was also preoccupied by letting out a soft sound in excitement as he received the warm juice. Travis thought it was weird to heat it up but his partner loved it so he simply smiled at the pair for their hospitality. "Thanks, I like mind cool as I am but I know that is impossible so I will take the coldest you have, heh." He noticed the girl moved away from him but that was a natural reaction as he was intimidating and probably appeared as a god.
The other one however. She spoke big. Listing information that Travis didn't care for and didnt really matter at all. He scoffed, looking down at the woman child. "Levels? Wha- is this a game to you? It's not a game to me. I don't need levels or my partnet. If you make a move I will put you down like my uncle put down a sick goat 3 years ago. All by muself, no partner." Sam seemed tense so Traivss took a breath. "But dont worry as you arent evil yet I will do no such thing. Besides the laws of this land prevent me from beating someone helpless, little boy. I am an ally of justice. And this ally has style." Travis smiled, his sunglasses reflecting the sun in a very cool way. "H-how did you reach that level?" Sam spoke after he had felt that the situation would go south. He couldn't have Travis murdering that little boy.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Artie interjected, inserting his little blue-scaled body in between the adult woman and man with a hand out to either one of them. "The Dragon's Den is a place where people can come and hang out and relax! It's not a place to make threats and pick fights, got it?"
"Fighting bad! Friends good!" Lancel helpfully added from the sidelines. "So fight somewhere else!" His eyes narrowed into vertical slits as he bared his fangs towards the two humans that showed up.
Thankfully, it didn't seem like Travis didn't come here to pick a fight, despite all his bluster. And Sakura was still confused at the whole situation. She really didn't want to get involved in a fight in a strange land, where she still didn't know a damned thing about this world.
"Excuse me, Stacy, was it? You mentioned something about levels, didn't you? Could you please tell me what that means? Is this some kind of game, or something? This is all... all very new to me..."

Fortunately Stacy didn't have to say anything more to Travis because Artie and Lance seemed to run interference. That was fine with her since getting in a fight with a teenager with an in-training digimon would make her seem quite immature. She didn't remember being this much a pain at Travis' age that's for sure.
Then Sakura asked about levels and it made sense. Though Stacy had known even less when she acquired her spirit, she had not only managed but reached the ultimate level and even acquired a second human spirit as well in a relatively short time.
"This is hardly a game. Instead this is a world that seems to exist parallel to our own world and inhabited mostly by different species of monsters known as digimon. The levels I mentioned are an indicator of how strong a digimon has become. The levels are fresh, in-training, rookie, champion, ultimate, mega, and super mega. There are also some optional evolutions that can be achieved by searching for special items. The mentioned items depends on whether a human is a tamer, spirit wielder, or xros general." Stacy explained as she showed her D-Tector once again before she said "I, for example, am what is known as a spirit wielder. Spirit wielders channel the power of the spirits of digimon in order to digivolve into the said digimon."
