With the advent of summer, a new breath of life had swept across the Miyashita Park. It was a season for fun as much as it was for relaxation. Tonight’s festival was no different, and with all the brightly lit vendor stalls and lively people it was hard to believe that the daily stresses of life existed in Shibuya. Even as a foreigner Zoya was enjoying herself participating in the festivities. This wasn’t her first festival, but it was the first time she had dressed up for one.
The blue floral yukata had been chosen by one of her coworkers, but she adored the aesthetic all the same. Instead of the usual ponytail she did her hair up in a crown braid, a look that reminded her of happy days back on her father’s farm. Her coworkers had parted ways to spend time with their families, but any small twinge of sadness was being quickly washed away by the festivities. Zoya’s blue eyes were alive with anticipation as she walked through the crowd, alone but not alone among the positively electric atmosphere.
The woman felt her breath catch in her throat as she spied a familiar yellow shape as she passed a stall selling bouquets of flowers. She hadn’t realized she was even holding her breath until she moved to the front of the stall to stare wistfully at the brightly colored sunflowers. It was another dear reminder of home for her. Zoya made sure to commit the merchant’s store name to memory while she purchased the bouquet, and thanked the elderly man with an earnest smile before leaving.
“всі щасливі сьогодні,” she mused to herself with a relaxed sigh, slipping into her native tongue unintentionally as she lost herself in the carefree ambiance. Her footsteps started taking her to the games booths next, intent on seeing what all the laughter and cheering coming from that area was about.Outfit by PkingSora
