Chester thought he knew cold. Seattle winters could get pretty nasty, and the city wasn't so far from the Canadian border. But this? This was something beyond cold. It didn't matter that the 23-year-old young man already owned an impressive assortment of cold weather gear from one two-week stint he'd spent in the Northwest Territories; it was keeping him alive, sure but it sure wasn't keeping him comfortable. "Shiro, no offense, but... how sure is your nose?" Chester questioned from behind a mask that muffled his speech a little. Between that, the hood, and the goggles pretty much all his face was completely obscured (and those goggles weren't coming off any time soon. Snow blindness, as he knew, was no joke).
Chester's digimon partner had nothing to say back to him but a bearish grunt, which could have meant anything from, "I know exactly where we're going" to, "I wonder if I'm just a brain in a vat experiencing an elaborate simulation." In any case, the Bearmon's nose remained low to the ground. The young man supposed any response was a good one - Shiro was strong willed and didn't always answer him - but he wished they had some better line of communication sometimes.
"A normal polar bear can track a scent from thirty kilometers, but I've seen you confuse a can of mushrooms for a can of tuna." Operation Find Shiro's Old Territory So Chester Could Gather Whatever Data About It That He Could was a go, and really he couldn't complain that much. The curious young man surmised the creature was probably very territorial (given that he wasn't allowed in his own darn kitchen for a week after bringing him in), so this step of being brought into the bear's old stomping ground seemed to him like a big step forward in their awkward relationship since.

The state of the digital world was simply shameful for Paledramon. Everywhere he went, it seemed, there were humans. At first he had little quarrel with them, he didn't think they were a threat back then, but soon, they proved that while they lacked the battle power of digimon, they more than made up for that with their cunning and scheming. In the few years of his life, Paledramon saw more and more digimon living the decadent life of humans. Few cared about the old ways anymore, for digimon to strengthen their fighting spirit and live for battle. In most of these places, Paledramon was shunned as a barbarian for stating his views, and that was when his feelings had turned to resentment. Humans were responsible for this. Humans had ruined the digital world, and they were simply spreading their influence more and more each day. There were two places that Paledramon particularly despised. The village of Snowflake, which had proven to him just how delicate civilization was in the North, was fully rebuilt and heading toward another event of needless destruction. And the lost city of Ys, which in his opinion was lost for a reason. There were secrets and devices too terrible to be recorded in history there, and yet this organization of "chosen" had set up residence there and were making it their own. Paledramon was dismissed as a fool when he tried to warn them. And that humiliation remained a bitter pocket in his stomach. These days, Paledramon did what he could to survive in the North, adhering to the old ways. It was the only way a digimon could survive up here anyway. Food was scarce, and shelter scarcer. Only the strong could stake a claim in these lands, and any intruders on his territory was viewed as a threat. It was a chilly day as any today. Paledramon flying his normal patrols. Few ventured into his territory, mostly because of how fiercely he defended it. He rarely attacked to kill though, he was confident enough in his strength that he didn't feel the need to go that far in disputes. But today, he saw something that angered him so much that he had to challenge them. A human. Along with a digimon. While hard to see against the snow, he could sense the white Bearmon's presence. Without wasting time, Paledramon dove in to land, ten feet away from them, sending up a flurry of snow as he landed. He then glared at the two of them. "You. What business do you have in my territory?" he questioned, sharply.

The snow disturbed by the landing caused Chester to raise his arms in order to shield his face from it.Shiro barked at a high pitch. The young man's cries of, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" were heavily mufflled by his thick black mask. Since this digimon was obviously being aggressive, he tried to show nonaggression by keeping his hands up in a gesture of surrender. "We're all friends, OK?" Thank God this was one of those more talkative digimon. That meant he could talk his way out of this. He'd never witnessed those powers digimon are supposed to have, but he'd certainly heard grand tales of them and didn't wanna be on the wrong end of one.
The young man started to back up, but he also dropped his hands. That was because he felt chilly as soon as his hands stopped rubbing his upper arms for extra warmth. Shiro followed him back without any need for a command, but the bear cub was baring his teeth and looking ready to jump as soon as he needed. "This is your turf? It's OK. We were looking for his turf, but we can go around," he attempted to negotiate. "And we can all go home, OK? Right, Shiro?" At some point the ursine stopped backing up alongside his Tamer and began to stand his ground. "Shiro? Shiro, don't you start."
The bear cub began to sniff the air, curiously at first... then intently. There was a look in his eye. His pupils dilated. His brow furrowed. "Hey!" At this point the boy's digivice began a steady pattern of high-pitched beeping, the machine hanging off his hip in the open. It wasn't especially fast or urgent at this point, but the more time Shiro spent examining his environment the faster it began to beep with a gradual rise in tempo. The boy tried to use his usual whistle command when Shiro got in a mood like this once, then twice. The usual result was a redirection of the bear's attention, followed by a reward. This time the desired behavior didn't come.
Whatever it was Shiro had found, it made him think standing his ground here was worth it. The bear cub planted all of his feet down firmly, spread his legs a little, lowered his head, made eye contact with the adversary, and began to growl. "It's not worth it!" Chester was now calling from fifteen feet back, but by now it was certainly futile. Was it the opponent in front of them who was triggering this territorial behavior... or was there something familiar in the air?

Paledramon scoffed at the human's attempt to deflect him. "Hmph, friends?! What friendly thing have you done to digimon and the digital world, eh? Just sticking your pointy human nose into matters that don't concern you so that you can alter it to your wishes!" he snarled. He then noticed that the IceBearmon was acting strangely, putting up a primal challenge for his territory. Paledramon of course reached the worst possible conclusion. The fact that the digimon's aggression was linked to the device in the human's hand clinched it for him. That was the link between the power of humans and their partner digimon. This talk was all for naught. "Oh, I see where you're going with this, human!" he spat. "You somehow coerced this stupid digimon into your schemes and so you now want to use him to challenge me for my territory!"With this established, he took flight, then launched his first attack. It was a roar of icy wind, launched directly at Shiro, aiming to nobble any tricks that he and his human partner would attempt at first. Rimy Roar: Paledramon roars and whips up a powerful blast of cold wind - so debilitatingly chilly that it reduces a target's attack power and speed by half for 2 turns [Cooldown: 3 turns]

The longer Paledramon went on, the more frightened Chester was becoming (not that anyone could tell by his face under his mask and goggles). Obviously the dragon had gone and lost the plot, but how could the young man explain himself now? As soon as the enemy started raving about his apparent paranoia, the young man knew the cause was lost, especially given that Shiro was unlikely to explain himself. "Wait, wait, wait, wait!" Chester nevertheless tried to plea, but by that point Paledramon had already committed to the attack.
Lucky for the researcher, Paledramon went for his companion. Unlucky for them both, Shiro's instinct wasn't to leap or bound or dive roll. Instead, the wild digimon turned his head away and braced himself, hoping to stand in and endure the attack. It wasn't part of some grand strategy, and it wasn't very helpful, either; this cold was something else. Chester thought he could feel a little bit of it blow past Shiro and toward himself, and for a couple seconds the chill he felt through his clothes felt like it could freeze him solid through his jacket.
The tempo of his digivice's beeping was going absolutely crazy when Paledramon struck the IceBearmon, fast enough that for someone not listening closely it was getting difficult to distinguish between individual beeps, rather sounding more like one long siren. Chester ignored it. His eyes were glued on Shiro, though visibility was a bit low; that wind had stirred up enough powder to obscure the bear completely from the young man's view. He called out, "Shiro!" with some worry. Thank God the answer he got was couple of unintelligible but recognizable grunts.
Recognizable but... different. They were deeper and bassier, and these ones carried with them an ominous sort of echo even though there was nothing in this landscape that should have been reflecting sound. "Sh-Shiro?" The mystery didn't last too long. When the ursid was visible to those around him again, it was because his gutteral growl alone seemed to blow away the powder surrounding him. What stood where the bear cub used to be was absolutely not the digimon that Paledramon had just attacked. And yet, it was also indisputably Shiro.
"Oh, my God-!" There was a whole lot more monster to this digital monster now! "He just- you did it!" Chester grinned a bit under his mask. "I knew it! I knew you could do it!" Chester almost let his sense take him and ran a step or two forward, but when the bear made himself still even bigger by rearing up on two feet, the Tamer's caution screamed in his ear. While the bear's forelegs swung upwards, his pupils were the size of Chester's open hand, and drool was escaping from between his exposed teeth.
Chester was right to keep his distance. The ursid showed some difficulty with movement in his body language, but it was absolutely not revealed on his face. The polar bear's countenance was one of unbreakable laser focus. And then... gravity aided the bear on his way back down. This wasn't just resuming his quadrupedal stance, though; Shiro slammed the ground with his two paws, which looked like it should have done nothing. And yet, in a manner that seemed to defy physics, the snow in front of him was disturbed. Not just close snow, either, but some sort of wave of it in front of Shiro was blowing snow out to make a straight line in a wide rut. While Chester's eyes were trying to figure out how that was possible, Paledramon had better have been looking down.
At the end of this line of disturbed snow was something of a miniature explosion of powder. This wasn't the real danger, though. That came from the rush of snow and ice that flew straight up like a geyser. In these temperatures groundwater that came up was frozen before it even broke the surface, sending a battery of ice chunks where Shiro wanted Paledramon to be.
"That's- Shiro! How did you do that?" Shiro was hit by Rimy Roar.Shiro digivolved to champion Polarmon. Shiro attacked Paledramon with Ice Geyser. -Ice Geyser: Polarmon's paws glow with white mist, at which point he rears up and slams both paws on the ground. A rush of pale blue energy heads toward the opponent, and when it's directly under them the ground erupts with freezing water that quickly solidifies into ice and deals damage. On hit, a target moves 50% slower for one post. Cooldown: 1 post.

Paledramon's view of the situation was confirmed when the human's digivice, whatever it was called, lit up and evolved his partner to the champion level. Yes, this was just as he feared - another human scouting the digital world for more things to take over. He would not have it though. "So then, that's step one of your tricks, what do you have-" his eyes widened as he saw the Polarmon stomp on the ground. He could feel the ice energy passing through it. He tried his best to launch himself from the ground, but, it was too late. Shards rushed up from the ground and rapidly struck his lower body and wings. He struggled to maintain height, but, his face filled with malice, he countered silently with a similar attack of his own. At once, crystal ice shards erupted all around the battlefield, concentrated on where Shiro was standing. By the time he was done, the battlefield was filled with dozens of razor sharp ice crystals, glinting in the sunlight with a cold malice. Paledramon is struck by Ice Geyser and has speed reduced by 50%.

Non-Combat Passive: Flight - Paledramon has the ability to fly.
Combat Passive: Cryo Armor - In combat, Paledramon is covered in a suit of icy armor that reduces all damage by 30%.

It was still very difficult for Shiro to move about freely in his chilly state, but he couldn't predict just where those spikes would pop out of the ground anyway. All he knew was he shouldn't have been where he was at the time and managed to jump a short distance to his own right. That little jump alone paid dividends when the the spike that popped out of where he'd been instead poked him in one of his shoulders. The armor clanged a bit, and it left a scratch, but the bear beneath that armor was unharmed seeing as the animalistic digimon.
"Wha- whoa, no!" Too bad Shiro wasn't the only one in danger. His Tamer was well within the radius, dancing away as best he could from each spike. That wouldn't stand. The ursid charged at his own Tamer, and the distance he had to cover meant he got sliced by a fair few of the ice crystals on his way with one particularly nasty cut behind a rear ankle. Nevertheless, he threw his own head between his Tamer's legs and lifted him up that way. As the bear reared, Chester clung to fistfulls of fur so that the move wouldn't go and throw him right back off the bear and straight down into the last crystal to form. "Thanks for the save!" he praised while his legs kicked and dangled.
How dare that little flying snot endanger Shiro's only friend? That was absolutely not going to stand! Without setting himself back on four legs, Shiro roared the loudest roar he'd made in his life, and sadly Chester was in no position to cover his poor ears. "Stranger, I promise you, you don't wanna see Shiro when he's this angry!" The young man shouted, "Not even sure I wanna see it." But the polar bear was standing his ground here with his Tamer in tow, continuing to snarl and make threatening eye contact. It was a taunt. It was a dare. 'Come at me one more time,' this creature seemed to be signalling, 'I dare you.' The creature's already vibrant azure eyes even started to glow a little, dimly but noticeably.

Paledramon noted with intent that the digimon responded rapidly to any danger present to his partner. His red eyes glinted with malice as he realized his path to victory here. The lumbering oaf of a beast digimon would be hard to best by himself, but, his weakness was his partner. Yes, it was always thus. These "partner" digimon who subserved themselves to humans would always grow overly fond of them, from his observations anyway. Paledramon's glee was cut short by the ferocity of the beast digimon's roar. He could tell that from here out, he would strike to kill. However, Paledramon had bested many digimon like him before. How else could he have evolved to this level? No, he wouldn't back down from these odds. Not before he launched his ultimate attack. The look of challenge in Shiro's eyes. Paledramon knew there was power behind them, he had felt it in that strike before, but, he felt the time was ripe to retaliate and put these trespassers down. Paledramon's wings glowed with light, then with a roar of "Prism Burst!" he launched twin white beams of energy down at two of the dozens of crystals on the ground. Then, instantly, at the speed of light, each crystal reflected two more beams of light into other crystals. Two became four. Four became eight. Eight became sixteen. And before long, the entire ground was alight with burning blasts of light that continued to shine with searing energy until it was too much for the crystals, which shattered at the end of it. This was the method in which Paledramon had defeated so many opponents in the past. He was eager to see if it would work on this one too. Prism Burst: Paledramon fires beams of light from their wings, which ravage the target with heat and light. If Crystal Eruption has been used the previous turn, the beams refract through the ice crystal shards again and again so that the area is covered with energy. [Cooldown: 2 turns]

"Hey, hey, nope! No, thanks!" was Chester's response to that erratically reflected light trying to tickle his dangling feet. The boy almost lost one of his boots during his flailing, but by holding one against the other it prevented him both from losing the boot and the foot attached to it, as this position required him to keep his knees bent and legs still. Still, the only thing keeping the researcher on Shiro's back in this awkward position was his upper body strength and the strength of his grip, the latter of which was a little handicapped thanks to the gloves over his hands. When he knew he was slipping in seconds, he cried, "Shiro, Shiro!" in desperation.
The ursid's lower body was covered quite thoroughly with burns and scorch marks, and yet even as he dropped to all fours he stood tall and proud. When his forepaws touched the ground they came down with enough force to throw up snow and ice - less of a fall and more of a stomp. This wasn't an attack, just a display of untamed anger. It didn't seem to matter to the beast that he was stomping through the field of searing hot light, nor that his next move to charge head-on at Paledramon led him through it. It only mattered that this position bought Chester a little extra time not to fall and, even more importantly, that it would bring Paledramon within biting range.
"Whoa, steady, big guy," the young man tried to urge. The shift in weight distribution so that Chester had the bear's broad back to work with helped, but running full speed like that he was still going to fall. No, this was beyond full speed, even. The glow in Shiro's eyes was now brighter and now definitely recognizable as not a trick of the light or the observer's vision. His speed through the deep snow wasn't natural even for a creature so accustomed to it; something was driving Shiro to new physical height. The chill had worn off, but that couldn't be the explanation for such a massive burst. Not on its own.
At some point during the reckless charge Chester's balance had to give, and he got thrown into the... snow. The light had dissipated by then, but it was still too close a shave in his view. Still, now he had the luxury of watching from afar Shiro's attempt to close in, leap the entire distance between the ground and Paledramon, and maul the interloper. If the maneuver went his way, he'd have been able to grab the dragon between his two meaty paws and drag him right back down to earth, where he'd go on to wrap his mighty jaws around the foe's neck and squeeze. In this hold his paws would bludgeon, his claws would slice, and his teeth gnash, and his mouth would thrash the opponent about.
In any case, it was clear that Paledramon's finisher didn't finish this fight.
As Chester pulled his face out of the snow he gawked in awe. "Digimons' power is... spectacular."

Paledramon eagerly watched to see the effect of his Prism Burst effect against the enemy. So many times before, it simply destroyed his opponent, or at least critically wounded them so that he could finish them off at leisure afterwards. But, to his dismay, and, increasingly, horror, it did not destroy the Polarmon. "W-what the hell?!" Paledramon asked, now somewhat unsettled at the fact that the enemy had seemed to survive his deadly combination attack unlike so many others. Instinctively, because it had saved him so many times in battles before, he retreated in midair in an upward diagonal direction, so that when Shiro came for him, instead of rending him from the sky as he would have normally, Paledramon retreated enough so that he was not ripped from the sky, but he suffered enough punishment from the Polarmon's claws that had reached him. Every beat of his wings now hurt. Data was seeping from his many new wounds. How the hell could this happen? Paledramon thought that digimon partners of humans were ultimately weak and inadequate, and... he was very nearly bested here. No, this was just a fluke. Paledramon was determined to correct this mistake at once. Using all the strength he had left, he used his wings to fly out of range of Shiro's attack, then made them glow white as he launched what would probably be his final attack. "Razor Hail!" he snarled, and would unleash a maelstrom of razor sharp icicles from his wings that targeted both Shiro and Chester. It also utilized the fragments of crystals that remained after his previous attack Crystal Eruption. Desperately, he hoped that this was the final blow against the enemy. If not... ...well, that was the way of the digital world, was it not? If a challenged digimon bested their challenger, that was the world that Paledramon was fighting for. As outrageous as it would be that he would be bested by a human, well, it would now be up to Homeostasis who won now. Paledramon is partially struck by Beast Maul, which deals critical damage.

There wasn't exactly a lot of cover in the open tundra. With nowhere to run or hide, Shiro couldn't concern himself something so far outside his control as the weather. On the other hand... "Oh, come on!" ...his Tamer was having a tough time of it. This was weather for which he wasn't equipped, and right about now it didn't look like lucky timing was going to bail him out this go. His thick clothing was of minimal protection against these things, a fact that became apparent as soon as the first one ripped through the sleeve of his overcoat, undercoat, shirt, and shallowly into the forearm. "Shiro!" the Tamer cried while kneeling and trying to protect his head with his hands.
The pair were separated by yards thanks to Shiro's earlier charge, so there was meaningful distance to cross again if the bear were to double back. The cry out made him turn his head back off his foe, and it seemed like the ursid knew what had to be done without a real need to consider it. Shiro turned tail, sprinted through the snow at Chester, and... tackled him. Was this safer? Not by much. The bear's forelegs were wrapped tight around the human's scraped-up body, and the fall knocked some of the wind out of his lungs. No light could reach him pinned under that mass, and not much air could either. It sure beat taking his chances with the weather for Chester, though. Still, "Shiro, we can't stay here. You'll get grated!"
But stay there he did. Finally starting to feel some signs of weakness, the bear didn't rise. Not even in response to Chester beating on his chest, partly out of concern for the polar bear and partly for his own breath. It was no use, though; the big lug wasn't yielding. Chester wasn't even convinced he was still responsive, really. A few moments in this position and Shiro seemed to go limp and relax, which he thought was absolutely not right for the right time and place. The only explanation Chester could think of was that hail and other injures were really taking their toll. Was the polar bear about to bite it, too?
"Stop the ice! Stop it! You're hurting him!" Now Chester was appealing to the Paledramon again, or at least he was trying. It wasn't a guarantee his voice even came through while mushed against that thick fur coat. "You won, OK, fine, don't hurt him!" The bear had nothing to add to that as he lay still like a bump on a log, breathing lightly but, fortunately, steadily. It couldn't have been a ruse, either. Even a tank like Shiro couldn't just lay down and keep still while getting sliced to ribbons by heavy hail... right? Too bad for them, Paledramon's last play didn't turn out to be his last after all.

Paledramon watched as the partner of the human turned to protect him from the harm of his attack. As he watched the events play out, he felt a strange rollercoaster of emotions. From smugness to pity... to respect. Paledramon had seen the full extent of this digimon's powers, and they were enough to best him. Yet... he didn't feel like it was right to land a finishing blow here. The human seemed like he genuinely didn't intend to intrude on his territory, but this had seemed to be some big misunderstanding. While Paledramon hated the fact that humans were intruding upon his world, he couldn't ignore the sheer power that they had. He had felt the full force of a partner digimon defending their human, and he knew he couldn't take another hit like that. So thus, his only logical option was to retreat for now. The human stated that he had won, and wanted no further harm done. "Very well. I shall suspend this battle, human, and allow you free passage to leave." Paledramon said, flapping his wings and returning to the air. "Your partner fought well. I am impressed. I look forward to our next battle."With that, Paledramon would depart the scene of the fight, seeing no logical reason to continue this. While he was a proud warrior, he was not the type to attack those that had surrendered. If his opponent had had enough, then that would be that. He was not like those other savages that would continue fighting to the point of dishonor. Paledramon disengages from the battle and attempts to fly away.
Since combat has ceased, Razor Hail ends.

In Chester's mind the best explanation for the Paledramon's mercy was an act of divine intervention. After the rancor and antipathy he had displayed for Shiro's presence and Chester's existence, it was quite a shock to the budding digizoologist that he not only agreed to part ways peacefully but was even almost cordial about it. Too bad that he wasn't about to shake the dragon's hand, and not just because he was scared to. Chester was both safe and suffocating beneath the polar bear's mass, able to breathe but not very comfortably. There was no point in trying to beat the bear off of him because all his limbs were weighed down too completely and heavily. His arms could move a little bit in two dimensions, but with his elbow stuck in the ground he couldn't quite make it to his digivice.
"Shiro, you gotta wake up! Dang it, big guy, move it!" Was it Chester's voice that caused the polar bear's eyes to shoot open? Unlikely. There was so much sound absorbed by the creature's mass and little enough air to go around that he couldn't power a scream of that caliber, especially given the grievous injuries through which Chester knew that Shiro had persevered. And yet, it turned out Shiro's collapse wasn't complete; it turned out that a five-second nap was all that Shiro needed to regain his fighting spirit. The beast didn't lazily stumble back up but rather sprang with a start. The disturbance his forepaws caused shoveled a little snow onto Chester's face and a slight tremor beneath it, as those paws slammed the ground perhaps closer to the Tamer's face than was really safe. Nontheless, that sky was a welcome sight to Chester.
The Tamer was right to roll out of the way as Shiro spun around in a one-eighty, this so he could face his opponent again. It was times like these when Chester very much wished Shiro could talk; he would have loved to know why, when he yelled, "No, no, he's letting us go! Let it go," that Shiro didn't heed him. Chester knew well by now that the polar bear had learn to discern Chester's intent most of the time if not his exact words, and it was clear that happened this particular time because the bear did pause. There was absolutely some sort of thought going on in Shiro's head, some sort of internal calculation in which he weighed his options to make a decision. Indisputably in Chester's view, this capacity for some problem solving and moral reasoning separated the Polarmon from just some dumb animal.
So why did Shiro rear up? Maybe it was about territory - maybe it was because he viewed the Paledramon like a challenger, something that was absolutely unacceptable to this stubborn creature. Alternatively, it could have been a matter of simple revenge, seeing as the Paledramon did harm Shiro himself. If it wasn't about that, it could have been about the harm both actual and potential that the dragon had caused Chester. Maybe Shiro was scared the Paledramon might just be running to fight another day, didn't share Paledramon's sense of honor, or maybe he was just too furious to have any real reason for his actions after all. There was no way to know why Shiro, with a roar so furious that it shifted the looser powder in front of himself, followed through with a second round of his Ice Geyser attack. Whyever that was, Paledramon wasn't necessarily out of the woods yet. Was he high or far enough to be out of range?
Chester almost didn't notice that the bear's little catnap was way more helpful than he could have expected. With this close-up view of the bear's magnificent form (which made Chester felt very small and pathetic in comparison), he noticed that Shiro looked a little too... pristine. Where were all those cuts across his back from the Razor Hail he was in? It was the bear's legs that still sustained the most injury, but even they looked vastly improved. There were almost no scratches from his dash across a spike field. Those burns, on the other hand, still looked about as unpleasant as ever, but from where the fur was missing data was no longer seeping. How did he-?
But while the mechanism behind the regeneration was a mystery to Chester, it almost seemed appropriate that this bull-headed bear found a way to push through just about anything. Bigger, faster, and stronger Shiro was now, but that was absolutely what Chester would have expected from the digimon he knew. Shiro was healed by Hibernate. -Hibernate: Polarmon lays down to rest and recover lost stamina. Until the next post, Polarmon falls asleep, rendering him immobile and defenseless barring outside help. In the next post, Polarmon regains 50% of his maximum health and stamina. Cooldown: 3 posts. Shiro attacked Paledramon with Ice Geyser. -Ice Geyser: Polarmon's paws glow with white mist, at which point he rears up nd slams both paws on the ground. A rush of pale blue energy heads toward the opponent, and when it's directly under them the ground erupts with freezing water that quickly solidifies into ice and deals damage. On hit, a target moves 50% slower for one post. Cooldown: 1 post. -Feral Rage (passive): Each time Polarmon is struck by an opponent's damaging ability, his speed is boosted by 10%. This can stack up to five times. Every stack is removed if Polarmon is not damaged for three consecutive posts.
Feral Rage has three stacks.

It was the human's cry that made Paledramon alert to what was going on behind him. He turned his head to see to his surprise that the IceGryzmon was in fact up and rearing for battle once more. Why... why was that? Paledramon thought he had bested him. How was this so? The human was insisting that he let it go, but, the bear digimon seemed insistent on continuing the challenge. Had the human healed his partner? This wasn't an ability Paledramon was aware of among humans, but, with their increasing encroachment of the digital world, he was inclined to believe that this was something they were capable of. "So then... you want a second dance?!" he snarled, as Shiro launched his next attack at him. The attack was strong, and launched at full power. So much that he felt that if it hit, it'd be a finishing blow. Paledramon was alert enough so that he quickly dived out of its trajectory, then launched into another attack run at Shiro. While he respected his power, this time, there was no more mercy from him. Paledramon would not forgive that act. He was set on his decision - only one of them would leave this battle alive. "You treacherous... maggot, human!" Paledramon barked. "I let you and your partner go and you tried to strike my back in return... rest assured, that mercy won't be extended to you a second time!"Paledramon noted that the IceGryzmon seemed to have less wounds on him than before; that he had the ability to heal himself. That in itself filled him with fear, but also more determination to not turn his back on him again. The ice dragon said no more as his eyes glowed cyan and his wings pulsed with white light. He thus launched a wave of ice energy back at Shiro, aiming to freeze him in place to properly finish him off. Paledramon dodges Ice Geyser, but notes that Feral Rage has increased the speed of Shiro's attacks.
Paledramon attacks Shiro with Snapfrozen Glare.
Snapfrozen Snare: Paledramon uses his ice powers to cover the limbs of a target, immobilizing them in place for 1 turn. [Cooldown: 3 turns]

The polar bear didn't have the energy to launch that geyser attack again, which meant his only way of striking back from this position was to charge and close the distance once again. That was a problem for him, because Paledramon had more apparent freedom of movement than Shiro in a third dimension. The bear was faster now, yes, but still limited in the paths he could take - specifically, it had to bring him to Paledramon.
It was as Shiro stepped on the shadow of the now-alert dragon digimon that the ursid... leapt! Shiro's forepaws were off the ground when the ice energy reached his position, and so they did not freeze in place. This victory, however, was short lived. When it seemed that he was clear, a solid tug on his rear legs sent him plummetting back to earth so fast it was as if an invisible hand from above had squished him there. The reason? His rear legs were stuck fast, encased in ice and stuck to the ground.
Shiro wasn't going anywhere, and if he wasn't going anywhere he wasn't going to attack Paledramon. Shiro was immobilized by Snapfrozen Glare.
