Some would say that in the midst of chaos lies opportunity, yet for a great many people? They are unable to find the opportunity within the chaos. For Akitsugu, however, chaos was what he felt like he had been surrounded with, one way or another. In truth, he could not exactly recall how it was he got into these rolling hills. Or even what time it had been. The final thing he recalled doing was exiting the lecture hall at the university, before falling, and...falling.
He may have hit his head on something on the way down, and quite honestly, that was the assumption he had been rolling with as he regained his vision, sat up, and peered around. Everything was blurred, and would remain so for quite some time. Akitsugu didn't even notice his attire was not what he was wearing earlier, either. He was otherwise alone in a weird spot, and standing up to get moving. Or get his bearings.
The latter would be quite nice.

Kazumi and her partner Vemmon were walking through an area in the Eastern Timberlands known as Mainframe Hills. The goggle wearing red head turned looked down at her partner before she said "It sure is nice here today."
"It s-sure is, Kazumi. L-look I know I've been rather moody lately." Vemmon said in his normal soft spoken stutter.
"Don't worry about it, Vemmon, if I learned my father was an evil monster with plans for conquest I might have been worse than you." Kazumi said in a calm understanding voice.
Suddenly Vemmon stopped causing his general to stop and ask "What is it, Vemmon?"
I'm n-not sure, Kazumi, but I'm getting this f-feeling that we aren't alone out here. I o-only hope I'm being paranoid." Vemmon answered as he started walking again with Kazumi right behind.
Soon it seemed that Vemmon's instincts were right on the nose as they spotted a human male who was trying to get his bearings. Approaching him, Kazumi asked "Hey there, are you alright?"

Treks outside of Rosewood City were not an unusual thing for Makoto; every so often, they'd wander out into either the woods, or to the Mainframe Hills, to get some fresh air - and with that, perhaps even find things like fruits and mushrooms to bring home for cooking or baking with. It was a win-win, really, to get some exercise and fresh air and goodies to bring home; and there almost always was something beautiful or interesting to look at along the way.
What they'd find today, though, leaned more on the side of 'interesting' - or, perhaps to put it more accurately, concerning. Though humans were not an unusual sight for Makoto, given that they visited Rosewood City from time to time... When they caught the scent of a nearby human, and glanced over to see that aforementioned human collapsed on the grass? Well, that certainly was a more concerning sight...!
Already, the young man seemed to be getting up by the time Makoto made their way over; and another human girl and a Vemmon - presumably her companion - came over as well, to check on him. The fox would not be far behind, tilting their head slightly as they approached Akitsugu. As Kazumi asked if he was alright, Makoto would join in to add "You looked like you had fallen over or collapsed, dear. You're not hurt, are you?" Humans were always much more fragile than digimon; so if he was indeed injured, Makoto wanted to make sure he was okay!
But.... An alien-looking Vemmon, or a foxy Renamon-X, were both probably quite unusual sights for a human brand new to the digial world, weren't they? One could only hope that they didn't unintentionally terrify him, even if the thought didn't immediately occur to Makoto!

Seconds passed. Minutes began to come by and Akitsugu was still not sure in the slightest where or what the place he was in was. He did get a rather genius plan, though. Don't make a sound. Yes, that was how one would survive in a strange land.
...Well, a strange location. The land looked okay.
Moreover, things got a touch stranger. A fox-looking entity came over and inquired as to Akitsugu's well-being. "...Head hurts." He stated. A bit obvious given he was rubbing his forehead.
He legitimately didn't have much in the way of words for...what he was seeing. A one-eyed critter, a bipedal fox and another human. A cautionary step back would probably be one way to see he might end up actually trying to run if need be.
So, really, it'd be up to the three to prevent that, right?

Noticing how wary the human male was, Vemmon stayed back a few feet letting Kazumi handle things. Perhaps the human had never seen a digimon so who knew how the male would react if Vemmon got closer. Kazumi looked at the Renamon X briefly but focused her attention more on the unknown human. Vemmon, however, was keeping an eye on the Renamon X until the unfamiliar digimon's intentions were known. Maybe he was being paranoid but one couldn't be to careful in the Digital World.
When Kazumi saw the human male move back, she said "It's alright, my friend and I mean you no harm." At the word friend she gestured to indicate the Vemmon standing behind her. This was beginning to remind her of how she met Vemmon but in this case she was trying to keep a frightened human from running off and potentially endangering himself. "How did you end up here of all places?" She then asked.

It wasn't hard for Makoto to tell that Akitsugu was seeming quite unsure of both them and Vemmon, given his demeanor. Catching a clue, Makoto would take a step back as well and sit down on the grass; attempting to offer the young man a friendly and sympathetic smile. "It might be worth sitting down and taking it easy for a bit, if you hit your head at all." They'd advise him, being cautious of the possibility of a concussion or the like.
As Kazumi reassured Akitsugu though, and asked him how he ended up here, Makoto would nod a bit. "I'd like to know that as well; but perhaps we should introduce ourselves, first?" They'd suggest to the other three, smiling pleasantly. It's only polite to introduce yourself first, after all! "My name is Makoto - and it's nice to meet you all, dears. Might I ask for your names?"
As Makoto spoke though, they'd be digging through their messenger bag for a moment - humming softly to themself in thought - before pulling out what looked to be a baggie of hard candies, in greens, oranges, and yellows. "These are some citrus-flavored drops I made at home; would any of you like a few?" Hopefully, candy would be a nice way to break the ice with this poor confused man, and help him relax a little.
Either way, Makoto would happily distribute them to the others, if any of them accepted the offer.

Okay, the girl might not mean any harm, but that didn't really answer the lingering elephant in the room, did it? That being...why would someone befriend a one-eyed...thing like that? "Would you believe me if I told you I legitimately don't know?" Akitsugu replied towards Kazumi. It wasn't a stretch at all given it was...kind of the truth. Seriously!
At the very least the fox was still being friendly. Akitsugu pondered their words for a few moments, before he crouched and sat down cross-legged, still rubbing his head. "Hirata Akitsugu." He replied towards Makoto, before staring at the candy. Sure. He took one. "What....are you?"
An obvious if not vague question. It was also one directed towards both Digimon.

The Renamon X named Makoto seemed nice enough as she seemed to have a knack for dealing with others and even offering candy to the strange man whom they now knew to be named Akitsugu. Figuring that it would only be right to introduce themselves as well, Kazumi, in the traditional Japanese way, said "I'm Kurihara, Kazumi."
Vemmon then stepped up slowly to get a better look before he then said "A-And since I don't have a human name, you c-can call me Vemmon."
"As for what Vemmon and Makoto are, they are beings native to this world called digimon. There are many different species from what I've learned so far." Kazumi explained hoping Akitsugu would believe what she said without panicking.
"K-Kazumi, you neglected to mention that this world is known as the Digital World. I g-guess I'm not the only one out of it today." Vemmon said with an amused click of his mandible.

With each introduction, Makoto would smile warmly and kindly; nodding to each and and every one of them in a respectful greeting. Everyone here seemed quite nice, which Makoto was appreciative of; with current times, you sometimes had no way to know whether another stranger on the road was a friend or not.
Once introductions were made though, Akitsugu would soon question Makoto and Vemmon are - to which Kazumi and Vemmon would jump right on top of explanations. Though Vemmon pointed out that Kazumi neglected to explain just what this other world is, Makoto would chuckle and speak up. "It's quite alright, Vemmon dear." They'd reassure the alien digimon, continuing "Let's take it one step at a time."
Being in a strange new place, it was likely that Akitsugu would have a lot of new information to digest, after all!
Turning their attention back to the human in question though, Makoto would nod. "Kazumi is right, though. We're called Digimon - short for Digital Monsters - and we come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as you can see with just myself and Vemmon here alone. As the name might imply, we're creatures that are - essentially - data made physical, as opposed to humans like yourself being flesh and blood; though we otherwise are living breathing creatures, just as you are." They'd explain, gesturing with their tails as they spoke when they indicated themself and Vemmon.
"My species is what's called a Renamon-X - and Vemmon's is, as I imagine you've already gathered, a Vemmon. Some of us take on names like I have - though some of us, like Vemmon, prefer not to - and instead go by our species name. Just as Kazumi had said, we're natives to here - humans are often an uncommon sight for our kind, though many digimon are growing accustomed to the presence of humans nowadays, given that you are far from the first to appear here."
Makoto recalled some gossip before, about
Smiling warmly and patiently, Makoto would conclude their explanation by asking "In any case, though... Do you have any questions, darling?"

Strange as Makoto was to Akitsugu (being a very literal fox on two legs and all), they seemed to be entirely...not hostile. A relief in a rather alien locale! He was also at least willing to take what Kazumi had explained with...a grain or two of salt. There was a small chance it could be false, after all.
At least false to him.
Nonetheless, it was much to process, so he opted to remain silent. Data made physical. Renamon-X. Vemmon. Terms flew through the air and he struggled a bit to comprehend that this...might have been another world?
"...The main one I have is 'how do I get out of here,' really. ...Also..." He held up a gauntlet-clad left hand. A glove, a cradle, and a steel gray Xros Loader all made into one...admittedly bulky contraption. "It's come to my attention that...I wasn't wearing any of this a few hours ago."
More a statement than anything. "What's the deal here?"

Both Kazumi and Vemmon stared at the Xros Loader that Akitsugu had and Kazumi was the first of the duo to verbally react to their surprise as she said "That's a Xros Loader! I have one too." She then dug it out of her pocket and showed the purple Xros Loader to him before she continued "Though I myself have never changed clothes when I came here before. I would still be wearing whatever I left Shibuya in."
"A X-Xros Loader means that like Kazumi, you are a Xros General as well." Vemmon said as he brought his clawed hands up to scratch his chin in thought. He then said "It s-seems he doesn't have a partner yet so that m-means he can't be left alone in the Digital World because he would be d-defenseless against any agressive digimon without a digimon partner." Quite the problem indeed since if they left him alone, Akitsugu would be not likely to survive longer than maybe a few days at best alone before an aggressive digimon picked him off.

It seemed as though Kazumi and Vemmon knew about Xros Loaders more than Makoto did - given that they were a Xros General duo themselves. The fox would remain silent for the most part, as the two spoke up about Xros Loaders and Xros Generals - as although Makoto had heard of Xros Generals before, they seemed to be far fewer than most other varieties of humans. All they knew, was that there must be at least one digimon out there waiting for Akitsugu...
Still, at Vemmon's remark about aggressive digimon, Makoto would offer Akitsugu a gentle smile. "As long as you stay near towns and the like, most kind-hearted digimon will likely keep an eye out for you - we know that humans are a lot more fragile than we are." They'd explain, before offering "If you'd like though, darling, I wouldn't mind coming with you until you find a partner to keep you safe. I've been mostly wandering anyways, so it wouldn't be any bother to come with you. And as for going home, well..."
Pausing for a second, Makoto would tap on their chin - taking a second to recall where the trailmon line that lead into the Human World dropped off. "... Do you live anywhere near Shibuya, dear? There's a way back home that'll drop you off there - we'd just have to make our way towards the city of Terminus first." Smiling gently and standing up, Makoto would continue "We can take the train there from Rosewood - which isn't too far from here - or we could walk there ourselves. Walking will take us through the Mainframe Hills - which is where we are now - and the Server Plains. Both locations are relatively quiet and safe - and it'd give you a chance to familiarize yourself with our world a little bit."
They weren't sure if Akitsugu necessarily trusted them - he seemed a little unsure, just from the demeanor he was giving off - but they still wanted to make the offers. It was the least they could do, for a lost human, after all!

Well. The two devices were not quite the same but they shared enough similarities for Akitsugu to register them as alike. Though, he zeroed in on a combination of words. Digimon partner. Of the four people present, counting himself, two were paired with each other and another was a Digimon.
...
Yeah, he could tell right off the bat that he was possibly the odd one out here. And why that was was possibly more perplexing than anything, even if he did not know -why- that was the case.
While Vemmon was being painfully obvious with his words (of COURSE it's dangerous to be alone in a foreign world that you have zero knowledge of), Makoto was willing to point out a number of things that were helpful to know. Such as the existence of settlements, and a word he actually did recognize.
Shibuya. "I...do, actually. That's where the university I currently attend is based at." He explained to the fox. They mentioned a...train? "You have trains?" Like a Shinkansen? "...I think I am well enough to do either. Though the train might be easier...especially if any of you have fare."
...Heyyyy...
"...Wait. Do...Do you Digimon even have currency?"

Vemmon, despite his slight amnesia, still remembered places like Rosewood. Makoto was right about it not being far. "R-Rosewood is only a few hours away from here at most."
At the mention of a university, Kazumi asked "Which university do you attend, Akitsugu?"
At the mention of trains, Vemmon said "T-The trains we have here are quite different than in the Human World. T-They are digimon known as Trailmon and it isn't uncommon for them to take passengers. M-Most are fairly friendly digimon as well."
Then at the mention of currency Vemmon said "M-Much like humans we digimon do have a form of currency that is known as bits. It is n-not uncommon for humans to have some on hand when they first get to the Digital World. K-Kazumi and I, for example, share the funds we carry between us."
"Wait, Vemmon, you mean the first time I came to the Digital World I had bits in my pocket?"
"N-Not exactly, I put what little money I had at the time in your pocket when we got to your apartment after we met in S-Shibuya." Vemmon explained.

With the talk of currency, Makoto would nod - confirming both Akitsugu's question, as well as Vemmon's explanation afterwards. "Human currency won't work here; though as Vemmon says, bits are the currency that most digimon in our world use." Taking a second to reach into their own shadow with one of their tails as if it were a portal to some pocket dimension, Makoto would scoop up a coin pouch from it - opening it, and taking out a small handful of bits to show Akitsugu. "This is what bits usually look like; they're small bits of excess data, essentially."
Putting the bits and the coin pouch back into their shadow, Makoto would then offer a smile to Akitsugu. "Taking the train from Rosewood would indeed be easier, and faster; if that's the way you want to go darling, I'm more than happy to help guide the way." They'd mention quite kindly, nodding in understanding.
Next, they would turn in the direction of the woods and gesture to a large floating island, up in the sky - the island that Vander Tower sat upon, albeit the tower would not be very visible from here. "You see that floating island, way off in the distance, and just over the top of the trees?" Makoto questioned Akitsugu, smiling to the young man as they pointed in the island's direction. "It's a commonly used landmark - given its relative proximity to Rosewood, and just how easy it is to spot from afar - and the city is just to the west of its shadow. When we start moving, we'll head towards that floating island, and adjust slightly west to hit Rosewood."
With their course plotted out, Makoto would conclude "Whenever you're feeling ready to go, just let me know, darling. I'll accompany you to your destination. Do you have any other questions, in the meantime?"
