After some choice adventures near whitewater shade decided that he had enough of the coastal city. Even if the people there were friendly and that they had been treating him well the wraithgururumon always felt like he wasn’t welcome. Felt like he couldn’t relax there. So he left the beaches and headed out; unable or at least unwilling to spend much more in the way of time there.
He didn’t even bother getting his broken teleporter box fixed; instead he headed out with the use of a map. It’d take him a bit of time but eventually he’d find himself in the eastern timberlands once more. A place that he had made home before and wouldn’t mind making it again for a little bit while he got his head on straight.
While his old stomping grounds had been cleared out; he was lucky enough to find a large enough tree he could set up camp near. Pitching a rough tent made out of many different branches and leaves. Eventually kicking up some dirt and fur blankets for insulation. Making it a bit homely before taking a seat out in front of it.
He had maybe a weeks worth of food over all before he really had to settle into hunting; he’d need to get back into making pots as well. So he’d start working on the clay; finding that his freezing touch was more than enough to make it seize up. It wasn’t anything like what the wraithgururumon had before but then again when starting fresh you were kind of stuck with what you had!
Little did shade know that his bounty had increased, that there had been people posting his whereabouts and all that remained were individuals that wished to try to claim it. Before it had been a somewhat straightforward job but this time… He was far more dangerous than most of the run of the millers that made up most of the lower ranks of the mission guild. High hopes and the like did little when your target could rip you a new one.
So he was mostly left alone. Which suited him just fine; he’d be able to figure out his own nonsense as long as no one decided to take his shotgunned home from him so soon after setting up.
That being said? He’d peer up into the sky; it looked like it was going to rain and the wind wasn’t exactly being kind. But what could you do? He’d scoot himself more under his tent and continue working on the clay as the day started to eat into the afternoon...

Nearby, Toki walked along the forest path, appreciating the quiet stillness as he stared at a slip of paper. He looked contemplative and wondered how he was going to deal with this. He was warned to keep his guard up around this Digimon. It confused Toki a bit. If they were such a high profile, dangerous target, then why did so few attempt to chase after them? There had to be some kind of reason. Maybe he was overthinking it. One thing was for certain, Toki was convinced there was more to this Shade than meets the eye.
Despite his musings, he seemed calm, collected, even happy. Things were picking up for him and he felt like he was actually making progress for the first time in a while. It was now time to see if he could keep this momentum going and actually make some kind of a difference. He shook his head at that thought. He's already made differences big and small. He shouldn't belittle himself or undervalue his achievements.
He looked up and felt the shift in weather. It was going to rain soon and the wind was starting to pick up. With no shelter, it would make for a rather uncomfortable night, so he picked up the pace to search for them. Perhaps if things went well, they would be able to use his home portal to get back to the monastery for a more pleasant place to stay.
Soon enough, he heard the sound of something rustling nearby and made his way through the foliage and trees. Near one of the larger trees was a campsite, and that made sense. It would provide a little more coverage from the weather. Occupying this makeshift campsite was the Digimon of the hour, Shade. He looked at the poster, which showed the appearance of several of the Digimon's forms. With a simple nod, Toki started to tear apart the poster "Won't be needing this anymore. Hello!" He called out, making no attempt to be sneaky or threatening.
He leaned against a smaller tree, his calm smile not faltering for a second near Shade. "I've heard a lot of hearsay about you. Shade, yes? However, I'd like to hear your side of things. With how chaotic the Digital World has been lately, it's hard to take a lot of things at face value..." He said with a quiet sigh. No Digimon partner in sight. This human seemed unnaturally confident in his interactions so far. "Oh, what's that you're doing?" He asked, looking at the clay. "Pottery? Figurines? That could be very nice to have around the monastery..." He mused.

Ah... How long has it been, since they've treaded this far out from home, weaving between the trees and hopping over roots? Certainly long before they had ever settled down in Rosewood - even though they did wander away from the city from time to time to gather and get some fresh air, they'd never wandered this far out until now..! Which meant that it must've been a good handful of years, since the last time they've wandered these grounds...
Taking in a deep breath, to release it in a relaxed sigh, it was safe to say that Makoto was in a good mood; though the twitch of their tail would bely a certain giddy anticipation deep down. The last time they've ever been on the road like this, it was when they were much more youthful - a young thief and pickpocket, who did what they had to to survive. That, though, had long-since been put behind them - even if they do still bear a handful of habits from that time here and there.
They were almost a completely new Digimon now, otherwise; given how much they'd changed over the years.
Though one thing that certainly didn't change, even now, was their sense of curiosity. Two fresh scents would catch their attention - the scent of a human, and the scent of another digimon (though an unfamiliar one, they'd note.) A tamer and their partner, perhaps..? It smelled as though they were still nearby - and on top of that, they could hear speaking in the same direction that the scents led, even if they were too far away to make out much of it.
Smiling to themself, Makoto would make the decision to head in that direction; deciding that a bit of socializing with a couple of fellow travelers would be a well-welcomed activity for them. New friends were always nice, after all - and who knows? Perhaps one of them would be cute...~
Seeing the trees thinning out into a clearing, Makoto would make their way to the edge - peering out towards what appeared to be a rather makeshift campsite, as well as the two individuals that they had caught the scents of. One of them was a large, WereGarurumon-like digimon - whilst the human was an amicable-looking young man (oh no, they were both cute..!) Rather quickly, Makoto was able to notice that these two may not have been partners like they first thought - but the young man seemed friendly nonetheless, judging by his tone and calm smile.
Still; something told them that they shouldn't barge right in, even if things were calm now - something about the unfamiliar digimon making the fur at the back of their neck rise, and not having all the information as to who these two were. And so, Makoto would remain just beyond the treeline for now; sticking to the shadows cast by the canopy above, where they were most at home, as they observed how this unfamiliar Garurumon-type digimon would react to the human.
Hopefully, this human had something up his sleeve, if things turned awry; they couldn't smell any other digimon in the area, which implied that he was alone. And though Makoto could evolve into Champion, the unfamiliar digimon's signal implied them to be higher than that - Ultimate, if they had to make a guess.

Running his thumbs over the pot and somewhat keeping to himself as the day went on it wasn’t hard for shade to notice a new scent in the area. Nor was it difficult for his eyes to find the man that had approached him so easily. His eyebrows would furrow and the wraithgururumon slowly set the pot down; no sneaky tactics? No other scents in the area that he could tell were tied to this one. He’d growl out a small greeting of his own.
”Afternoon.”
An earflick and the wolfen digimon continued to work on his pot; slowly stopping as the human started to talk again. He’d blink slowly; the other had heard a lot about him? That was no surprise; he wasn’t exactly the sort that went unnoticed he figured. The mon sighed a bit and looked back up to the human.
”Human is here about whitewater nonsense yes? Shade does not know what you’ve heard so shade doesn’t know what to tell you.”
The wolf frowned a bit and considered his options here; with the young man being so far away the mon didn’t really feel in danger. But was that part of the trap? Was there other mons around? He’d squint his eyes at the human and set his pot aside.
”Shade makes pots for storing meat or the like. Don’t know what monastery human is talking about.”
The wolf sniffed at the air and furrowed his brows; there was another scent nearby but he couldn’t quite place where it was at. Casting about for a moment that frown would deepen and he’d eventually ask the human.
”If human’s partner is around he should call them out. Wouldn’t help anything if human is just looking to talk.”
The digimon didn’t seem bothered by the idea of the human having a partner; no he had dealt with a few of those type. Three to be precise; but one of them had quite a few mons of their own! Was the scent he was picking up tied to him? Or maybe it was just happenstance. The wolf would glance at where he thought the scent to be but; his nose probably wasn’t as acute as someone who grew up with one as keen as this. But the scents didn’t quite meet up so… happenstance?
”Maybe… not…”
Shade found himself mumbling and shaking his head. He had a few thoughts on the manner but maybe if he just relaxed… a bit he could just work through this and the human would leave him to trying to rebuild his life? Sighing to himself the wraithgururumon slowly stood up. For an ultimate sized digimon he wasn't quite as large as some but he definately dwarfed most humans. But to one such as toki that probably wasn't too surprising.

Toki rubbed the back of his head "Ah, yes...I suppose it would be difficult to figure out where to start in that case, hm?" He chuckled softly. He thought for a moment "Well I've heard you've attacked Digimon before...did something to them, something that left them rather...confused. Addled. I want to know more about...why. Why are you going around doing that? You don't seem to load Digimon...please, be honest with me, as odd as it is to hear a stranger request that. I simply want to know more about you and your reasons."
He smiled softly once more "Oh sorry, I was more thinking out loud. Have you considered decorative pottery for display? The monastery is something from long ago that a friend and I are rebuilding. It's slowly becoming a haven for those who just need a little peace and quiet while they try and find their place in the world."
Toki tilted his head slightly "Partner? I don't have a partner Digimon." He said bluntly. Though now that Shade mentioned it, there was the presence of someone else in the area. "I'm sure they mean no harm, whoever they are." He said in a friendly, warm tone. There was a certain sincerity and kindness to his words.
He sat down at the base of the tree and closed his eyes to listen to the wind rustle through the trees. "I'm simply concerned for the safety of other Digimon, but I'm also concerned about what drives others to do what they do. Maybe I'm too soft." He said with a weak chuckle. "I believe in giving everyone a chance. From complete strangers to Demon Lords...I've seen what happens when people point fingers and judge based on misunderstandings. So the short of it is I want to understand you before I make any real decisions, whatever they might be." He said. He didn't want to sound threatening. However, he was worried about Shade, as well as the fates of others that had been in contact with him. At the very least he wasn't a bellowing megalomaniac reveling in bloodshed and violence. His brow furrowed slightly as he thought about...that particular foe.

From beyond the treeline, amongst the shadows, Makoto continued to listen to the two converse; relaxing and smiling to themself upon seeing that things weren't going too badly... At least, that was, until the human brought up incidents of Digimon being attacked by the Garurumon-type in Whitewater. This, paired with the unnerving vibes that the digimon gave off, would make their fur puff up a little; prompting them to begin grooming their tails back down with their claws.
Oh dear. Perhaps they weren't supposed to be here? Even as the two remained rather calm and begun discussing pottery, Makoto wondered about whether they shouldn't move on and leave these two to it or not; it wasn't like they would be able to protect themself very well, if a fight broke out, given their clear difference in levels. Though...
... Then again, there didn't seem to be any tension in the air, even as the subject was brought up. The Garurumon-type, though perhaps a bit wary, was otherwise calm and non-aggressive. And the human, too, was as friendly and relaxed as ever. Perhaps things would be fine, then; allowing Makoto to release a quiet sigh, as they flattened their fur out once more. Should they reveal themself soon? The answer, it appeared, to be a yes - the Garurumon-type would be able to sniff out Makoto's scent rather quickly; and upon being called out, the Renamon-X couldn't help a sheepish smile at themself.
Ah... They were busted, it seems; ahaha..!
Now was likely as good of a time as any, to come out; putting the finishing touches on smoothing their fur down, before emerging from the treeline. "I apologize, if I gave you a spook at all, dear." Makoto would greet Shade with a gentle smile; chuckling softly and good-naturedly. "I just didn't want to barge in blindly, until I better understood what was going on here." Glancing towards Toki, they'd nod to him in greeting as well; though their tone would become low and clearly interested, as they continued "Subject aside though, you both seem friendly enough; it's nice to meet a couple of good looking individuals, out in the woods, too~" with a wag of their two tails. "Must be my birthday~!"
Their demeanor - from their body language, to their tone, to their expression - was friendly and positively flirtatious, even though they had just met these two. The Renamon-X seemed to mean no harm at all, but they left no doubt in their interest in the duo - how would they react to being in Makoto's sights now?
Well, one thing was for sure; Makoto would first focus their flirting on Shade, as he was the closest one. Stepping closer to the wolf, they'd lean against Shade's side; the fact that he was almost twice as tall, and much much larger overall, not seeming to discourage them from getting close. "It really puts into perspective just how big you are, now that I'm this close - eheh~" A tail would brush along the back of his leg, as they smiled coyly up at him; mentioning "A cute-looking human, and a big strong digimon, out in the woods; who knew I'd hit a jackpot, out here~?"
Toki was not safe from Makoto's flirting, even if their attention was currently on Shade, however; at mentioning the 'cute-looking human', they'd smile and wink in his direction.

”....That. That is because shade when in his weaker forms feeds off of negative emotions and memories. Feeding off mons in a regular manner doesn’t help at all so he didn’t bother.”
In the simple vein the mon was able to at least explain that in the terms he understood. If someone pried deeper on their own they’d probably find out more. Given the fact that the mons had stopped researching him at the request of mikemon well… They didn’t find out about his feeding habits!
”...Decorative pottery requires safety and the want not to use it for storage. Shade used to have that sort of thing with old stories attached to them when he lived here when he was weaker.”
Shade breathed out of his nose; a small cloud of frost forming before being swept away by the wind. He didn’t harm people on purpose; only if they had proved to be a threat to him. This human wasn’t a threat so the WraithGururumon seemed to relax ever so slightly. A slight lessening of the shoulders and he’d rub at his own chin.
”That doesn’t sound soft to shade. If human is strong enough to do something like that that is in his right.”
Shade believed in strength; if someone was strong enough they could make their own way in the world. If they were weak they’d have to follow others. It wasn’t a bad thing just a natural way that the world worked!
Shade blinked a bit as another entered the small clearing that was basically his campsite at this point. They were a small looking fox and if he had to put them at a strength… Well right now they felt like how he did when he was a shadow. A mere shade to the world. How strong could they get? That’d require either asking or mulling them over but with the human present he wasn’t sure if he could get a good enough read. Their explanation of why they waited out on the treeline made sense…
”Safety is good. So being careful is also good.”
Shade wasn’t exactly sure how to exactly comment on what they said initially given that they both were being careful here. But then there was that subject change. Friendly? Good looking? Shade slowly blinked and scratched at his head. Was that a civilized phrase? Birthday? He seemed to recall something from his ‘trainer’ about that as they tried to figure out his age.
But then his personal space was taken from him in a very strange way; he didn’t feel threatened by the fox so he didn’t feel like he should move away from them. Shade as certainly bigger than the other and feeling that tail brush the back of his leg he’d glance down at the fox’s tail. It took a moment for him to realize what the fox was doing. Something called flirting. Or being flirtatious. Another thing that people did when they felt safe. Or if they liked something or someone. He had gotten to watch that in the city quite a bit actually. Clearing his throat and seeing that the physical boundaries were removed he’d reach down to pat the top of the fox’s head.
”Shade is big yes. Shade is also strong. But shade is not as pretty as the fox is.”
He’d affirm this choice of words before looking between the two of them. They could probably pick out his name from the way he talked but… He needed to know himself. Names gave power to a person in a strange way and he’d rumble out the question.
”So what is the name of Human and the pretty fox?”
Given the shade of his fur it’d be difficult to see but there was a soft rosey patch on either of his cheeks with how makoto was flirting with him. Maybe the mon didn’t get to do it often or maybe this body reacted differently. He knew if he was in champion form he’d be a puddle right now. If he had to guess. No one ever spoke to him like that in that form.

Upon Makoto's introduction, Toki just smiled and wasn't bothered by their presence. They seemed nice enough and definitely wasn't acting threatening in any way. Though as soon as the flirting began, Toki's calm demeanor cracked slightly as his smile quivered slightly. He crossed his arms behind him to hide the nervous trembling of his fingers. The man was capable of handling near god-like threats but was still incapable of really handling someone flirting with him in any way. He blushed and looked down slightly "Th-thank you for the compliments." He said to them.
He ran a hand through his hair and tried to focus on Shade's words. He wasn't necessarily uncomfortable, just extremely timid about the subject. He frowned as he listened to Shade's story "It sounds like you haven't felt safe in quite some time. So you feed on the memories and negative emotions of Digimon. Interesting..." He pondered for a moment, wondering how to continue this conversation. "I'm glad that you aren't killing any innocent people, that's for certain. That gives me one less reason to consider you a threat." He said with a nod.
He smiled softly and shrugged "I'd stand by my beliefs even if I wasn't as 'strong' as people perceive me to be. Voices deserve to be heard, respected, and protected. Conversation and change can't really happen if only the strong are allowed to talk. On that topic, what is strength, anyway? Certainly not just physical power. I don't consider that strength if it's used poorly." He stated plainly.
In any case, it seemed that Shade had taken a liking to Makoto as well, so there wouldn't be any tension in the air among them. That was good and he let out a relieved sigh, though he was still flustered by Makoto's behavior. They definitely seemed happy and cheerful with people they had just met. To Toki, that was a positive trait...but it was still behavior that caught him off guard. Then, Shade asked for his name. "My name is Toki Akiyama." He bowed politely. He made no effort to explain his status as a spirit user. He'd rather not flaunt such a thing unless it was asked of him or if it was necessary. He approached slowly and sat down "Well it seems our conversations are off to a good start. I actually have a bit of a proposal for you, Shade. I could speak with the authorities and have them remove the bounty from your head...but I doubt they'll agree without a condition. That condition being...come with my and stay with my group at the Moonstone Monastery in the Blossom Isles. I have an idea on how you can use your abilities in a way that could benefit people."

As Toki flushed and slightly fidgeted, Makoto couldn't help a warm chuckle and smile in return. It seemed that this human was rather cute in more ways than one - they always loved seeing others lose a bit of composure or lose their mask from being flirted at, and this opportunity was no different. "Of course, darling; how could I not compliment such a cute human~?" They'd respond, tails swishing a bit.
For a brief moment though, Makoto couldn't help but wonder if they had seen Toki before somewhere - but... No, he didn't strike them like the drinking type, so it wasn't likely that they'd seen him at a tavern before. Perhaps simply walking past each other down the street in Rosewood, then? It was possible - the brain never truly forgets the faces it sees, after all.
The subject that Shade and Toki both treaded on now though - the question of strength - was also rather interesting to Makoto. The fox would audibly hum for a moment, tapping a claw against their chin as they thought to themself. "A good question for sure, darling..." They'd begin, closing their eyes as they pondered over it for a few seconds. "I'd argue that physical power is just one facet of strength - but just like anything, it isn't something you should use as a fix-all. There are such things as mental strength, and emotional strength, as well - and those facets of strength likely break up into even more facets of their own."
As if something occurred to them, Makoto's ears would prick a bit, and they opened their eyes. "I suppose another way you can think about it, is the concept of Survival of the Fittest. People think that it refers to being the physically strongest, and being able to beat down every rival in your way - but that just ain't what the concept means at all, is it?" Smiling wryly, Makoto would continue "It only refers to how well you are able to adapt and survive in your current surroundings or situation. A social colony of Pipismon helping each other out in their pitch-black caves, or the swift Bitmon that is able to burrow their way away from danger, are just as fit as an apex DarkTyrannomon ruling over its mountainous territory."
Either way, Makoto would soon sidle up to Shade's side; and in response to their open flirting, Shade would reach down to pat their head, and call them pretty! The Renamon-X, in response, would chuckle warmly; tails briefly wagging at the gentle touch. "Oh, thank you; I'm quite flattered, dear~" They'd hum, leaning against Shade's side much more openly and comfortably; clearly glad that Shade was open to their advances, and even reciprocating. "But you shouldn't sell yourself short, either, darling; you're still plenty attractive and appealing, even if it's in a different way."
Upon being asked for their name, though... "My name is Makoto, dear. I presume your name is Shade?" They'd question in turn, smiling up to the WraithGarurumon. As Toki introduced himself as well, though, Makoto would suddenly light up in recognition. No wonder Toki seemed oddly familiar..! They had heard of a spirit user by that name before, around Rosewood - quite a heroic figure to say the least, though Makoto was sure that some of the gossip was exaggerated nonetheless. It did explain why Toki was waltzing about without any digimon to look after him, though.
Instead of making a big deal of it all however, Makoto would relax, and simply smile and nod to him. "It's a pleasure to meet you both, darlings~" They'd mention to Toki and Shade both, deciding to sit down as well. "I'm personally looking forward to getting to know the two of you more, if either of you are willing, to say the least." Makoto spoke, pairing this remark with a not-so-subtle wink.
As they got comfortable though, Toki would mention removing the bounty from Shade's head - and in return, Shade joining Toki in a place called the Moonstone Monastery. This line of conversation seemed very much none of Makoto's business, and so they'd remain quiet; but there was still a visible curiosity in the way their ears pricked, and their tails twitched. Moonstone Monastery, down in Blossom Isles...
Ah... That was, where they had been raised, wasn't it? A bit of a melancholy nostalgia, to say for sure; but they'd likely stay well away from their home town on the isles, if they ever came to check out this Moonstone Monastery that Toki spoke of.

Shade’s eyes rested on toki and he’d tilt his head; the other seem uncomfortable due to something? He wasn’t entirely sure so he just let that be. After sharing his story with the young man well… There wasn’t much more for him to really tell. He fed off of negative emotions and memories. That was a fact. There was no disputing it and if he needed to he’d prove it.
”Yes. Shade isn’t sure why they’d be addled. Maybe they should try stretching more?”
Perhaps the mon didn’t quite understand what the word addled meant. He’d give a small shrug at hearing the whole killing innocent people bit. Those feral beasts of the forest weren’t innocent nor were they really anything sentient past being animalistic. He was a tribal type mon… Or rather that’s what he was told.
”Why would shade go around and kill innocents?”
Shade tilted his head to one side. Even though his words made sense they came from something that the other believed gave him the right to think like that. He’d rub at his neck and give a small shrug. His eyes drifted down to makoto as they commented on the different types of strengths and also was something that the large beastman could consider. If not get behind.
”Shade just is saying what he thinks. Nothing more nothing less. But shade will agree with Toki in that vein. Else he would not have survived as long as he has.”
Shade gave a small shrug; he considered those venues of strengths and he wasn’t entirely sure how to explain it. He’d flick his ears forward and turn his head to toki. Then there was that suggestion; a proposal that he would speak to the authorities to have his b ounty removed from his head. The mon slowly blinked. Bounty? There was a bounty on his head?
”Bounty? Shade wasn’t aware of one. That could explain all the hunters that came after him. Thought they were just gun ho fighters with the way they kept coming after him.”
Shade looked confused for a moment upon hearing about the monastery. He had never been to a place called the blossom isles and had never heard of it. But the last part caught his attention and both of his eyes locked on the human.
”How?”
It was a simple question but feeling the renamon-x sidle up to his side the wolf blinked and turned his head down to look at them. Smiling openly and even resting a hand supportively on the other’s shoulder. If they were comfortable there then he shouldn’t really dissuade them should he?
”Shade’s name is indeed shade. Thank you Makoto.”
Shade flicked his ears a few times and took a seat; since that seemed to be the thing to do at the moment. He seemed to be more than comfortable sitting next to makoto. Blinking slowly as they suggested getting to know the two of them more. He’d tilt his head and smile sweetly.
”Shade does not see why not? Makoto fox is nice after all. What is term? Easy on mind and eyes? Shade thinks? He does know that Makoto's voice is like music yes yes.”
Shade scratched at his chin and gave a shrug; he didn’t quite know that sort of thing. It was something that the large mon never really got into but if someone was willing to talk and flirt like this who was he to say no? Especially with how it was bringing a fanged smile to his face and a full flush.
”So tell shade more about this Monastery and why shade should trust Toki human?”
They were earnest and honest questions; if he knew of his powers and how to make use of them in a positive manner this also meant that Toki would know just how destructive he could be. It was one of those things that the mon wasn’t entirely sure about.
”When shade was in whitewater, the scientists always talked about his abilities or the things that his body was comp… comp… composed of. They seemed to think his only use was fighting and shade would rather not be forced to do that unless he absolutely needs to.”
Shade didn’t like fighting really; it wasted energy and made it harder to survive if you went around just beating up everything. It had taken him quite some time to figure out where to reside here and if the monstrous wolf could find somewhere peaceful to settle down… Maybe just maybe this monastery would be the answer. But he hid his hope behind some questions; as light or heavy as the human would take them...

Toki fidgeted a bit more, but managed to keep his composure around Makoto as they explained their own opinions on the matter of strength "Oh definitely. Strength is a facet of power, but like anything it has to be handled well to be considered a positive force. I've seen firsthand what happens when power is given to those who would use it to harm others. It's important to keep a good balance of what you listed...physical, mental, and emotional strength."
He frowned slightly "As much as I prefer your view of survival of the fittest as opposed to the more...traditional view, it's still a view I struggle to accept. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, but they're no more or less deserving of the life they have."
Makoto and Shade's interactions brought a smile to his face. The two of them were an infinitely better match. Toki himself was rather hopeless in terms of being romantic or reciprocating those feelings, so it was for the best. He bowed his head towards Makoto as they introduced themselves "It's nice to meet you as well. I hope we can all get along. That's all I can hope for."
He chuckled slightly at Shade's misunderstanding "I'm sorry. Addled simply means confused or unfocused. It has nothing to do with stretching." He took on a more serious expression when Shade questioned why he would kill innocents "That's more a worry of the authorities, not from me. It seems they're worried of potential damage you could cause if left unchecked, which from what I'm starting to see is largely unfair of them."
Shade wasn't even aware of the bounty? This was starting to seem strange. Though he supposed people wouldn't ordinarily be informed of a bounty placed on their head if they felt they were doing nothing wrong and steered clear of civilization.
Then came the important question. How? Why should Shade trust Toki? He nodded "I can't expect you to trust me immediately. But as for how your abilities can be used for something positive...well, there are memories that people would rather not have. Or memories they want to learn how to cope with. Mind you, this would be a last resort thing. I believe that people should live with their memories both good and bad. They're what shape is to be who we are today...but I also understand what it's like to be crippled by a traumatic experience. To be unable to function because of a terrible thing that has happened and being unable to cope. No one deserves to go through that and live the rest of their life just...broken down like that."
He sighed slightly, then got to his proposal "Come with me to the monastery, and we'll get that bounty off your head however we can...and we can train you to use that power to ease the minds of others. Either by removing certain memories...or lessening their impact on their lives. Let them cope and move on."

As Toki frowned, and mentioned how he struggled to accept survival of the fittest, Makoto would smile sheepishly and shake their head a bit. "I apologize, dear - I suppose I didn't articulate myself very well, there." They'd begin, smiling a bit more gently. "I agree with you; everyone deserves a chance at life. I was more explaining what survival of the fittest is supposed to mean - the definition it was given when it was coined - as opposed to what people think it's supposed to mean; in comparison to how people only ever focus on one facet of strength, and call it the golden standard without considering the other facets."
"You said it very well yourself; everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and I don't think any one person has the authority to decide whether or not someone deserves the life they have."
Next though, Shade would comment on Makoto's appearance and voice; both of which would make Makoto smile and laugh in a pleasantly surprised fashion. "Oh, darling; you're gonna make me blush, too!" They'd remark, giggling as they nuzzled against Shade's side, tails swishing with a hint of giddiness. It was safe to say, that Shade's reciprocation was putting this pretty fox in a good mood!
(This didn't mean that Toki was gonna be safe from Makoto's flirting, though; not when his reactions were this cute..! They were quite polyamorous, and enjoyed being able to share affection with everyone around them, after all!)
Before long though, Toki and Shade would be talking about Shade coming to the Monastery, as well as why Shade should trust Toki in all of this. Makoto, all the while, would be simply listening - not wanting to interfere in a conversation that wasn't any of their business, after all. The talk of how Shade's abilities could be used to aid others, particularly those coping with traumatic memories, though... This seemed to prompt a change in Makoto's demeanor.
They were indeed interested like before, yes; but... The talk about being stuck, unable to move on, seemed to strike a chord in them for a brief moment as they thought to moments in their past lives. A slight shudder - nearly imperceptible, but Shade might've been able to feel it where they were still leaned against his side - would run through their body like goosebumps, and they'd promptly change their train of thought before the tight feeling in their chest got any tighter, and before it spiraled down darker memories.
Toki's words sounded genuine to them, in any case - and he seemed like a truly well-meaning young man. Glancing up to Shade, they would offer him a gentle and reassuring smile - waiting to see what he thought of all of this before they spoke up.

”Hmm. So Toki human has seen a lot then?”
Shade tilted his head to one side and rubbed at one of his ears; toki spoke like he had a lot of experience with this sort of thing and the wraithgururumon wondered just how much he had dealt with. While the large mon agreed with the idea of the survival of the fittest there was some of it he did not. Children and young mons should be exempt from that sort of thing. After all they were practically defenseless.
”That makes more sense. Addled. Hmm. Shade supposes they are right to worry. From what he knows every time one of his kind surfaces the land changes to suit them. Shade is no different.”
Shade gave a shrug about the bounty; he didn’t care about the fact he had it so much as he was curious the actual reason. Was it that? Or… Was it something deeper still? His attention was brought to makoto as they said they’d likely blush from all this. He’d chuckle softly and feel that nuzzling he’d gently rub the top of their head. With them so close it wans’t hard for one of his arms to rest around their shoulders.
"Would be a nice color to add to Makoto's fur..."
The wolf stared at toki as he spoke about what he could do. He could help people with their memories, taking away the darkness that they held in their mind. Shade looked to his hands and frowned a bit. He had never considered something like that; helping people recover and the like. Live and let them move on from the darkness. He’d open his mouth to speak; unsure of how to address it but that’s…
That’s when he felt the other that was currently against his side shudder ever so slightly; both of his eyes slipped from toki and with a frown he’d squeeze the renamon-x against him in a somewhat supportive gesture. Everyone had their darkest days; everyone had their worsts. His was when ther ed came; if he could he’d forget that. He’d blink a bit as he saw that they’d gaze back up to him, offering that smile. He’d return it and then sigh softly.
”Shade will do so. How does one get to the Monastery?”
Shade couldn’t help but feel a bit protective of Makoto with feeling that shudder; but it also begged the question to him of all those others he had met. What sort of twisted darkness did they have to live with? Shade didn’t know and he wasn’t sure if it was in his right to know.
”For a very long time shade only ever thought about surviving. Living day to day and just… Working through life as it came. It will be good to actually do something rather than just survive.”

Toki understood completely that this was a difficult subject for many people, including Makoto and Shade. To talk about it meant opening old wounds, leaving oneself vulnerable. Not everyone was comfortable doing that. Toki knew firsthand what it was like to feel such pain and close himself off for so long. When he lost Tsusagimon, he felt completely alone for the first time since he came to the Digital World. If it wasn't for Aylin spending so much time with him, he probably wouldn't have recovered as well as he did.
It seemed that the three of them were on the same page once things were clarified, which was relieving. As the conversation continued, Toki thought about what they could do. It seemed that Shade really did want to learn how to use his abilities to benefit people. When Shade agreed to come along with him, Toki smiled "Well getting there is easy. I have my digivice synced to its location so we could be there in a matter of seconds whenever you're ready to go." He explained.
The monastery was going to be a pretty busy place soon. So many people showed interest in being a part of the group he was forming. Speaking of, he should probably let them know about that "I'm the leader of a small group called the Moonstone Travelers. You'll likely meet the others sometime down the line, but it'll be alright. We're a group dedicated to aiding the Digital World in any way we can. With how difficult times have been right now, it's easy to lose hope for a better future...well, we want to help people reach out for that again. Whether it be by saving others, fostering healthy relationships, or having a place to rest your head, we'll do what we can to support people during these trying times. Secondary goal? Working on better relationships with the human world...though that part's going to be trickier than anything else I think." He said with a bit of a sigh.
He clapped his hands once "Anyway, there's my impromptu advertisement. Sorry for the long-winded ramble. We can get going now, or we can remain here for a bit and talk some more if that would be more comfortable for you."

Shade was such a darling; Makoto would smile and hum in contentedness as he stroked the top of their head, tails continuing to swish happily. As he commented on the blush being a nice color to add though, Makoto would chuckle lightly. "Maybe so; red and black go very nicely together - just like with your own fur, and those horns and spurs; they're quite fetching!" They'd agree - reaching up to stroke a hand along one of Shade's elbow spurs - before continuing "Though my blushes don't show up very well past my fur - and I think that purple suits me a bit better than red, anyways; it matches my fire, and goes nicely with my eyes."
As the subject of coping with more traumatic experiences came up, however, it'd seem that Shade would quickly notice that Makoto was feeling unsettled. Feeling a squeeze around them, the Renamon-X would initially jump a little - startled - but... They'd soon relax against Shade with a gentle sigh; smiling at the comfort that the larger wolf provided. "Thank you, dear; I'll be okay." They'd whisper softly to Shade - sure that the wolf's keen hearing would pick up their voice, even if Toki likely wouldn't be able to. As long as they didn't dwell too hard, they'd be okay.
And it wasn't like Makoto was lacking in things to distract themself with - namely, in the talk of the monastery. As Toki explained who the Moonstone Travelers were, and what they stood for, the fox would listen closely; visibly interested. Wanting to help the Digital World and their kin is always a noble goal - but to foster a positive relationship with the human world, as tricky as it might sound, certainly caught their attention.
The status quo, despite there being those trying to cling to it, was becoming quite shaky in Makoto's opinion - and attempting to maintain it instead of preparing for the shift in the quo was going to get people hurt, they believed.
Makoto would begin to part from Shade - giving him one last squeeze on the hand in an affectionate gesture - before moving to approach Toki. "I would love to come with the both of you, if you'd be willing, Toki darling." They'd speak; sidling up beside the young man, smiling warmly. "Your group sounds like quite the respectable type, and I'd love to learn more about it..."
"... And I'd love to learn more about you, too, dear~" This would be paired with a rather non-subtle wink, a tail crooked up to trail the tip of it along Toki's hip in a flirty fashion. "You and Shade both are quite interesting, after all,"
