"No, you two are partners," Johan responded, reaffirming his observation. "Unless that Shoutmon isn't actually bonded to you, which would raise quite a few questions about why he's here and why you have a Digivice." A small smile formed on Johan's mouth as he looked at Dylan. "It makes much more sense as time goes on."
"Individually they can be easily disposed of," Dokamon responded to Leroy. "However, there are an overwhelmingly large amount of Numemon coming from the Shift, so do not expect them all to be disposed off as easily. I imagine without the other Shoutmon's help they would have overwhelmed us."
Dokamon was pretty worried about how well the two Shoutmons would get along, or rather, or poorly they would. Both seemed like they would fly off the handle at the drop of a hat, and start fighting each other rather than fight the ACTUAL enemies that they were facing. If these two showed any more signs of hostility, the cyborg Digimon would have to go to drastic measures to keep them from knocking each others' sharp teeth in.
As they walked down the alternate hallway, Johan chose to not look at Dylan when he asked if Johan was gonna tell him about this. "If I never saw your Digivice, no, I was never going to tell you." No point in keeping the truth from him now.
"Digimon are living organisms that are entirely comprised of data," Dokamon explained to Dylan with the same energy as a guest lecturer at a high school, "and we all come from an alternate world known as the Digital World. We can come in various different forms but we cannot just arrange our data to look like an average human without the help of a device called a Holosuit. We are able to evolve to more powerful forms with the process of Digivolution, however."
"Obviously with how easy it is to cross between the worlds, there's bound to be trouble," Johan would add. "That's why various teams were established, like DATS and AEGIS. I am an agent of AEGIS, Johan Walker. Our goal is to stop any potential hell-raising threats from the Digital World that make their way here, precisely like what is happening at the school right now. Any questions?"

Leroy was glaring at the other Shoutmon while it seemed Hiroshi had gotten his fiery twin under control somewhat. As the group made it to the bathroom the stench left by the Numemon was enough to make both Hiroshi's and Leroy's eyes water. Clutching their noses, Leroy said "It's bad enough the little green shit stains made a mess in the halls but it smells like a sewer in there." Hiroshi rolled his blue eyes at his brother's blunt crassness since he himself rarely swore compared to his furry twin who could at times swear like a sailor. Leroy looked at Dokamon looking annoyed as he said "I have a name and it's not the other Shoutmon, it's Leroy. You..."
Leroy's rant was cut short by Hiroshi reaching over and covering Leroy's mouth hereby muffling whatever crude comment bound to come. As Leroy struggled to free himself from Hiroshi's grip, Hiroshi said "Sorry about my brother. His hotheadedness makes him quite a handful for me to keep in check at times. By the way, my name is Hiroshi."

"Uh, excuse me-" The Shoutmon accompanying Dylan interjected that while stepping in front of Leroy. He walked backwards and didn't try to impede the fuzzy Shoutmon's movement, but this would hopefully make sure he captured Leroy's attention. "I'm the 'other Shoutmon." Clearly, he didn't take this as an insult. "As in, the 'other Shoutmon' without whose help you 'would have been overwhelmed.'" It was at this point that Shoutmon turned his back on Leroy without getting out of his path. "Go ahead and take the cheap shot if it'll make you feel good," he dared Leroy, referring to the fact that Shoutmon was not watching him. "Better right now than when the stinkers come back..."
Concurrently, Dylan was still having his conversation with Johan and Dokamon. "Yes, I have questions," Dylan interjected once he was invited to. He did not, however, go on to ask any questions. What was the point at this juncture? Each answer inspired five more questions and so on. Maybe some of them were better saved for when the stench in the air didn't make him. It seemed that the boy just wanted it clear for the record that he had more questions.
"And my name's Dylan. Did I say that already? I feel like I said that already." He shook his head anxiously and coughed a little while leaning on a wall, a result of this noxious air. "Can we pick up the pace please? It's getting literally hard to breathe this crap. Ugh, I'm sure I've already got some exotic disease from this..."

The back and forth between the two Shoutmons was clearly taking a toll on Dokamon's sanity. The Numemon smell was already getting to him, so hearing the two hotheaded dragons going back and forth at each other was the very definition of not helping. "I would very much prefer it if you two would stop your arguing right now. We have a bigger problem to deal with, in case you can't see."
"Dokamon's right, you guys," Johan said in agreement with his partner. "Don't forget why we're here. We need to find the leader of the Digital Shift and take it down. I bet it's something related to Numemon, just based on how gross this Shift truly is."
Johan did notice that Dylan said he had more questions to ask, but for some reason he didn't ask them? Johan was just FULL of questions when he met his partner as a Kapurimon, so he was a bit confused. "Okay? So go ahead and ask them."
Johan would then stop the group in their tracks, as there seemed to be a trail of sludge going into one of the classrooms. There would definitely be some Numemon in there, but that wasn't the group's main goal, and it was hard to tell if the boss was just in a classroom or if it was somewhere more significant. In fact that raised a question, how much of the school did this shift even cover?
Suddenly, the group would hear slimy sounds coming from behind them, and they were only getting louder. The sounds themselves were disgusting, and they were mixed in with heavy breathing. Johan and Dokamon both slowly turned around after hearing those noises...
...and see that there was a HUGE NUMEMON behind them, almost as big as the hallways themselves!
"RUN!" Johan would shout out; there was no way that they could Digivolve in time before the Gigantic Numemon attacked, if the twins and Dylan's Shoutmon COULD even Digivolve!

Dokamon's words seemed to reach Leroy if only to annoy the furry Shoutmon. Hiroshi facepalmed as he groaned "Now you have an idea what it's like to be me for a day. I love my brother but his chaotic behavior drives me crazy at times." Leroy then rolled his eyes. As much as he didn't like strangers ordering him around the Dokamon had a point.
A trail of sludge made Johan stop in his tracks as the twins crinkled their noses in disgust. It seemed the smell was starting to get to Hiroshi too. They saw the trail going into one of the classrooms but Leroy said "What's the hold up? I thought the Digital Shift was in the bathroom. This is hardly the time to examine every bit of slime in the hallway."
Hiroshi's ears began wiggling as he heard the slimy sounds and heavy breathing and Leroy took notice. Before either twin could say anything a giant Numemon was literally breathing down their necks. At the suggestion they run, Leroy spun toward the Numemon and said "Like I'm afraid of this giant slug. I know we can take him. Bellow.."
"Now's not the time, Bro." Hiroshi said as he grabbed Leroy's tail with strength Leroy forgot his twin possessed as Hiroshi then ran with the group while pulling his brother with little effort.

So Leroy didn't take the deal? Fine by Shoutmon.
On Dylan's side, Johan was unfortunately calling his rhetorical bluff. That was a problem because each time Leith thought of a really good question like, So how many digimon are in our school, anyway? along came an even better one like, Do you have to feed them, or are they like cacti where you sorta just leave 'em alone? The American boy as only relieved of the task of pinning down a single one by some very, very bad news. He turned around about the same time as Johan, which turned out to save his life (or, at least, saved him from getting bathed in sludge). "Oh, come on!" he whined.
"Huh?" The fact that Shoutmon liked a little conflict didn't mean he was a fool. Self-preservation kicked in and sent the rocker running. "Hang on! I've got you."
"Huh?" Dylan was too distracted to catch the exact moment Shoutmon's fist closed around his wrist, but he was definitely aware once the tug came.
"It's kinda what partners do. Move it!" It was for the best that Shoutmon was leading Dylan. The pint-sized dragon was obviously faster than the nonathletic boy he pulled along with him. Without him Dylan would have struggled to keep pace with the others. The real question then was whether the group would outpace the monster.

"Well for the sake of all of our lives, he is going to have to cooperate with us. This may have your school's basic shape, but we are still in unfamiliar territory. We need to be cautious - and we absolutely do not have time to argue." Dokamon was definitely treating this entire situation seriously, much like a real special agent or cop would. As far as Dokamon was concerned, he was working with a bunch of amateurs.
He was really beginning to miss Silence right about now. Sure they had their quirks, but at least Dokamon was confident that they were at least competent at their jobs.
When they stopped outside one of the classrooms with slime trails entering through the bottom of the door, Johan looked up at the classroom number. 2-A; the same classroom that Sparkwood-sensei's class was in. It could've been a coincidence, but something told Johan that it was something more than that. What kind of scheme could a bunch of NUMEMON of all things come up with?
The answer may come sooner than he expected, as there was a new problem to deal with in the form of a giant Numemon that took up a majority of the hallway. Naturally, the group's only option was to run at this moment. The larger than life Numemon chased the Tamers and Digimon down the rest of the hallways, leaving their only option to be to go downstairs. From there they would come across two choices to proceed: one large set of doors that led to the gymnasium, and another hallways with yet another giant Numemon coming after them.
"Oh you have got to be shitting me," Johan growled as he pulled the gymnasium door as fast as he could, allowing the others to get inside. The door would shut behind them, leaving them nothing to see but the pitch black darkness that surrounded them. They weren't being chased anymore, at least. There weren't even any banging door sounds to be heard.
It was almost as if the giant Numemon were... leading them here...
"Huehuehue... that was almost TOO easy!"
A loud, booming and... posh voice would echo out from the darkness. Everyone would have some time to question who was speaking at this moment before the lights came on, in the form of torches that would form a path right from the door to the throne sitting at the other end of the room, with larger torches on either side of the throne. In that disgusting, trash-themed throne would sit a large black Numemon, one with a mustache and a crown for a shell. The entire room would be covered in the same pink sludge as before, only in higher quantities; easily the most disgusting room in the entire school.
"And I thought my subjects were crazy to think you were so easily fooled; I don't give them enough credit," the black Numemon would say, drinking an unrecognizable liquid from a cracked wine glass. "And by the way, the door is locked. No way out! You're stuck with big old me~"

Good thing Hiroshi was easily just as physically strong as his twin brother as he took off dragging Leroy down the hall by his tail. When it seemed Leroy wouldn't get to fight the furry Shoutmon gave in by running alongside Hiroshi. Soon it seemed the group was being led toward the gymnasium where Leroy was beginning to pick up an intense odor coming from within. It seemed weird that the oversized Numemon was chasing them in that direction but neither Hiroshi or Leroy were up for questioning it as the group entered the gym.
"Ugh. By the Sovereigns I thought the hallways reeked but this is way worse than the sewer smell from before." Leroy said quite loudly with all willingness to be polite totally gone now.
"Leroy! Seriously?" Hiroshi hissed at his twin shooting him a glare but the smell was easily bad enough for anyone in the group to smell even with a cold.
The posh booming voice drew the attention of the twin brothers and Leroy glared at the BlackKingNumemon before, with no sense of manners since they had yet to return, snarled "So you are the reason this day has gone well past shitty. I hope you would be decent enough to leave since I'm far from impressed by you." Leroy swung his microphone back and forth his anger making him forget this was an ultimate and not somewhat manageable champions. Hiroshi said nothing being only able to facepalm.

Dylan should have been relieved when he could halt running, and to an extent he was. He wasn't made to run for his life. The boy huffed and puffed and sank his hands on his knees. It was unfortunate that he wound up in the gymnasium, a room he was scared to walk into even on a normal day. But as badly as the metalhead needed oxygen, his lungs rebelled against each breath, making him cough it right back out. The stench was thick enough to touch, so Dylan was having genuine difficulty breathing in this room. He sank to one knee, stuck between two states of panting and coughing.
Shoutmon hesitated, but that was only out of concern for his Tamer. The red dragon scowled at seeing Dylan in this state. Obviously the kid was going to be no help to Shoutmon. Fine, he tsk'ed internally, Then this time, I'm saving you. If there was supposed to be a monologue coming, Shoutmon sure as heck wasn't going to catch it. With nothing but his will, he created a pair of headphones over his ears. Even from pretty far off, wailing guitars and machine gunning bass drums were plainly audible from them. Just like he'd deafened himself to the villain, any calls to halt or wait were also likely to fall on deaf ears.
"I'm not listening, not anymore, The more I learn, the more I ignore, I'm not listening, not anymore, The more I hear, the more I ignore."
Shoutmon's allies might have recognized that he wasn't just singing into his microphone to make a point (although he was doing that, too.) After singing the chorus of the song in his heart, pumped up to heck between that and the tunes in his ears, Shoutmon fearlessly charged straight in. "You're the one who can't escape from me!" His first swing would be just an attempt to knock the wine glass out of this cocky bastard's... "hand." It was the follow up that was supposed to cream it in the face. Shoutmon used Soul Crusher. -Soul Crusher: Shoutmon sings or screams into his mic to charge it with his rock spirit's energy. All of Shoutmon's basic attacks with the microphone deal physical damage about equal to an ability with no cooldown. When Shoutmon next uses Rock Soul or Feedback Blast, that ability is somewhat more powerful. The charge wears off after three posts or after using one of those abilities (whichever comes first). Cooldown: 2 posts.

What was to happen next is probably not what either Shoutmons were expecting. They each ran up to BlackKingNumemon with their staffs in toe, Shoutmon having charged his up to increase his attack power and Leroy just going for the hit. Though both their attacks would have the exact same effect: they went right through BlackKingNumemon, the body glitching out somewhat as the attack collided.
"What is this...?" Dokamon asked, confused by what he had just seen. It didn't take long for Johan to come up with the solution.
"It... it's a fake!"
It was then that subtle clapping sounds could be heard by the group as the fake BlackKingNumemon and his throne disappeared into data. A spotlight then turned on, revealing the source of the sound. A humanoid, dressed in a light grey business suit with a light green button-down shirt seen underneath and black gloves and loafers. This man was also wearing a helmet.of a slightly lighter color than the suit, and looked like a cross between a Power Rangers helmet and the king piece in chess. This man would stop about a few feet in front of both Shoutmon's, a very menacing aura emanating from him.
"I must say, I was not expecting the fight to start as soon as it did," an almost synthesized voice boomed from the figure. "I was prepared for the long speech where BlackKingNumemon would share his hair-brained scheme about how Numemon are always picked on, and now was the time for his revenge. But instead, you go straight to fighting an Ultimate level as rookies. I cannot tell if I am impressed... or disappointed."
"Who are you?" Johan asked, wanting to get straight to the point.
"I am simply known as the Grandmaster. In case you cannot tell, I am the one who created this Digital Shift. it was not easy, and it is not a complete replica of an official one, but I can assuredly say I am proud of my work."
"Why would a human want to create a Digital Shift?"
"Wait, he's human, Dokamon?"
"That's correct. I cannot sense him like I can sense a Digimon. Despite the moronic-looking helmet, this is indeed a human."
"I could tell you my plan and leave you a trail of clues to come and find me..." Grandmaster said, before pulling out an electronic device from his pocket. "Or I can do this and call it a day." He would then press a button on his device before he too was revealed to be a hologram, fading into data from the feet upward. "I'm sure we'll meet again... Johan Walker," He would say before disappearing completely.
"H-How did he know my...?" Johan would begin to ask, before a creaking sound was heard above the group. If anyone were to look upward, they would see that the ceiling had opened like a trap door... and enough Numemon to cover the ceiling were starting to fall, and would land on top of and around the group. Things were officially about to get ugly.

BlackKingNumemon's body glitched out when Leroy's and the other Shoutmon's attacks did nothing but pass right through. Leroy responded with a full onslaught of words that would make a sailor blush. After learning that the BlackKingNumemon was fake Hiroshi went to Leroy in an effort to calm his twin down and, to a limited extent, was successful as Leroy's foul mouthed tirade gradually ended but Leroy soft growls were heard by Hiroshi. It was likely a matter of time before Leroy blew.
Another figure soon made his presence known as it appeared to be a human wearing some odd helmet. The human began revealing he was behind the Digital Shift and that he was called the Grandmaster. Leroy's soft growls grew louder as the furry Shoutmon opened his mouth and said "So you were responsible for these Numemon and my day going to shit. If you weren't human I would have already busted your damned head in you f-."
"Alright, that's enough." Hiroshi said as he now had a firm grip on his still cursing brother but at least there wouldn't be human paste to explain.
Then a creaking sound was heard and both Hiroshi and Leroy looked up seeing more Numemon beginning to fall down on the group as both brother, less than eloquently, said "Ah Shit!"

"Ultimate?" "Rookie?" They were words Dylan recognized, but not in this context. Just more nonsense the boy suspected he would have to learn later. God, I hope there's not gonna be a test.
The fact that the figure in front of Shoutmon was neither a Numemon nor a real person did not deter him from trying to whack it. The Grandmaster had to make his entire speech while Shoutmon continued searching for a weakness by swinging right through the hologram, apparently not getting tired of throwing around a heavy object like that so many times. The futility of the exercise did not deter him from expressing his annoyance with the figure until it just wasn't there anymore.
The last hit was a bit late. It was pure luck that the follow-through of Shoutmon's swing accidentally repelled a couple of Numemon that could have fallen near him. "Huh... neat."
Dylan was not so lucky. Unarmed and very confused, he just froze when he felt a very sticky, sloppy sort of weight plop down on top of his head. It felt like someone had cracked a giant egg on top of him. He froze, didn't say a word, didn't move a muscle, a similar response to learning one had a dangerous insect crawling on them. When Shoutmon turned to check on his Tamer, the poor boy looked absolutely terrified. Dylan obviously didn't know what to do next. Shoutmon did.
"Don't freak out. Hey. I got this."
"You 'got this,'" the boy echoed back in a dry tone to show his skepticism.
"Relax, I got this," the digimon reiterated. "Here, check this out. I got a secret technique for stuff like this. Just do what I'm gonna tell you."
"And what's that?"
"It's a secret, hello!" Shoutmon used one finger to gently gesture Dylan closer. Dylan gulped and leaned forward a bit, but whatever Shoutmon had to say was apparently highly confidential. Shoutmon gestured him to lean closer, but Dylan was just so much taller that there was still space between them. When Shoutmon began to impatiently grunt and point at the floor, Dylan knew Shoutmon was gonna stay tight-lipped unless he was in whispering range, and so the boy grimaced while kneeling down on the slimy floor. "OK. Listen good."
Whoosh! It was at this moment that it became clear Shoutmon had lied. All the little lizard really wanted was for Leith to get closer and lower that he was within the distance of a home run swing. In fairness it was a very accurate-looking swing; if he missed, it was going to be too high, missing both of them, rather than missing low and beaning his Tamer instead. It helped that Dylan again experienced the third F in the fight, flight, or fright response and so didn't dare move in a way that could upset Shoutmon's accuracy.

Well, these two were definitely not making Shoutmons look that great right about now. One was shouting a bunch of curse words that would be enough to break a censor entirely, and the other just continued hitting at whatever hologram was there despite it being obvious that doing so would be pointless. Even Grandmaster had to stop and just stare at the organic Shoutmon who just kept on swinging.
"This is why Digimon need to be controlled," Grandmaster muttered, quiet enough so that someone would have to have been listening VERY closely to be able to hear what he just said.
Then Grandmaster's image disappeared, and the Numemon began to fall. While Dylan, Shoutmon and the twins would handle them in their own ways, Johan and Dokamon's way would definitely be the highlight. The young man raised his Digivice outwards, which was in the Digivice holder slot on his bionic arm. The screen glew brightly. "Dokamon, digivolve!"
"Dokamon Evolution!" The blue cyborg Digimon began to quickly glow and change shape. In its place now stood a tall, stocky android with green eyes, who had his arms raised above his head. "Guardromon!" Soon, a literal wall of fire appeared above the group's heads, so aside from the Numemon that Shoutmon hit and the one that fell on Dylan, all the Numemons that hit that firewall were burnt up and turned into pure data, leaving a considerably less large swarm of Numemon surrounding the group. Still, it was a swarm that had to be dealt with.
Question is, should the group go with fight, or flight?
Dokamon digivolved to Guardromon and uses "Firewall" to protect the group.
Moves Firewall: Guardromon literally conjures a wall of fire to protect himself and/or his allies for one post. Cooldown is three posts.

Hiroshi's ears wiggled as he picked up the Grandmaster's words and merely snorted in disgust and annoyance. Leroy glanced at his twin in confusion since he had not heard the Grandmaster at all. Leroy then whispered "What is it, bro?"
Since his twin was calmer Hiroshi released his twin and mentioned what the Grandmaster said and Leroy merely rolled his eyes. "Seriously, and he thinks he can control most digimon? That is laughable."
At least Leroy was calmer and as the wall of flame came up Hiroshi said "I gotta admit that is an awesome trick." Leroy apparently agreed as he whistled appreciatively.
"Shame neither of us can do that, huh bro." Leroy said with a grin before he continued "So gotta game plan, Hiroshi. You know how bad I am with strategy."
Hiroshi had to admit that was a surprisingly level headed and mature thing for a chaotic hothead to say but Leroy was frequently surprising him. "Well since we can't run through the flaming wall, I think it would be best for us to wait for a perfect opportunity to strike." Hiroshi said. Even though Leroy and patience didn't tend to go well together it seemed the dragon of chaos was down with the plan judging by the smile that was spreading across his face.

Pssh. 'Controlled.' Shoutmon didn't say his scathing sting out loud, but his face acted accordingly. He didn't hide his contempt and utter disregard for the idea. It wasn't just that a digiracist was outing himself as one (but that, too). Control as a whole concept was something that didn't quite sit right with Shoutmon. Who does this guy think he is? Shoutmon thought it was the height of hubris to assume any control over anything but oneself... and even claiming to master the self was a stretch. Control, including self-control, was something for which Shoutmon never strived. He'd go where the wind or his whims took him, and so far they had led him to a bond with a human. His way was looking pretty darn good right about now. Better not blow it now. It's Shoutmon's time to shine!
"Did he just transform?" Dylan gawked incredulously at... Dokamon? He wasn't sure that was still his name because he had said a different one just a second ago. The boy retreated to the circle's center and shielded his face with his arms from the flames before he realized there was no need. They weren't for him.
"You guys wanna wait?" Shoutmon called that over to his lookalike and their brother. "That's cool if you're feeling the heat. Me, I'm gonna make myself useful." This was the moment when Shoutmon planted his battle mic into the ground with enough force to plant the spikes like roots, making it a stationary mic stand. "Sit back and enjoy the show." This time Shoutmon knew that he was facing away from any of his allies when he cleared his throat and stepped up to the stand. "Nice setup, Guardromon. Listen to this." When Shoutmon inhaled, he must have taken in enough breath to fill the volume of a bowling ball. It was all to build up his most powerful voice attack. "Rock SOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!" The first half of the declaration was an intelligible yell, but the second half was a high-pitched black metal-adjacent scream that could pierce the eardrums of a casual listener even without the infusion of digimon data to empower it. This scream was even louder than the first time Leroy heard it now that it was coming from a charged microphone. He didn't think a wall of fire could stop an assault of sound here.
Shoutmon knew he couldn't clear the whole room with one omnidirectional attack, but from his spot near the center of his fiery stage, he almost felt bad for approximately half the room. The Numemon didn't seem like heavy music fans, and they were about to have a bad time. Shoutmon attacked a large portion of the Numemon with Rock Soul. -Rock Soul: Shoutmon summons his deepest spirit and channels it into a directional scream through his microphone. Targets take sonic damage from this attack, and it reinvigorates Shoutmon enough to shrug off some of his pain, effectively slightly healing himself. Cooldown: 3 posts. Rock Soul was empowered by Soul Crusher. - Soul Crusher: Shoutmon sings or screams into his mic to charge it with his rock spirit's energy.
