Sakura hated running.
She understood its purpose and benefits, but the actual sensations she felt from the activity was nothing short of loathsome. And yet, despite all her grievances, it was the only thing she could think to do.
Apparently, her new friends in this new world wanted her to train them for some reason, even going so far as to refer to her as "teach". And for as uncertain as she was about doing so, apparently there was some kind of magic toy thingy that appeared from out of nowhere that meant that she was destined to do so or whatever. She really didn't understand it very well, but it wasn't like Sakura had anything better to do, either. And the two running behind her weren't exactly unpleasant.
But still, she hated running. Running along the plains with Terminus City off in the distance, she realized that she hadn't really pushed her body since... back then, and she was paying the price for it. Her stamina just wasn't what it used to be.
Sakura's hands fell to her knees as she stopped to catch her breath. Dressed in a pair of sneakers, running shorts, and an old, sleeveless, black shirt with the faded image of some winged-serpent, she turned back to her partners casually jogging up to her. A tall red lizard and a shorter blue one.
"So... we done now?" The Guilmon asked without a trace of exhaustion.
"I thought you said that we were going to be training, but all we've been doing is running around the plains," The Vmon complained, a little bit of sweat running down his scales. Something Sakura thought strange considering his reptilian-like appearance.
"That's... umm..." She couldn't get out a sentence without gasping for air. "It was... just a test to... see the extent... of your stamina!" Ironic, considering that compared to the two Digimon, she probably would have failed her own test.
"So... did we pass, teach?"
"And is there a written portion? Because sometimes my hands get all shaky and I accidentally set the pages on fire!"
Sakura spent perhaps a little too much time thinking about the logistics of that particular scenario before shaking it off and answered. "Y-yeah! We can get back... to the real training soon enough! Just... give me a minute!"
She had agreed to help the two become stronger. But... how exactly was she supposed to do that? She had never really... taught anyone... much of anything before.
Well, thankfully there wasn't anyone around to see how much of a jackass she was making of herself.
...right?
