Holly hadn’t been given much by silence, only the bits and pieces that she was able to see in the short spat. There were some guesses at what else she could do given the typing but holly wasn’t interested in what ifs. She was interested in seeing what her sister could do over all so she could then figure out how to approach best training them.
But it was a good idea to learn the little bits and pieces before drawing focus; and her big thing for today was to work with amber to find out everything she could do on her own. Before working to see what they could improve. So there would be varied fitness tests and varied attack sequences holly had in mind.
With a clipboard in one of her hands and a time stop watch in the other she’d give the door to ambers room a gentle rap with her knuckles before pushing it open. Figuring that either her younger sister was working on the next big piece or she was lazing around.
”You ready to go Amber? Today’s the day~”
Holly was in a very good mood to say the least and she even had a spot picked out for their training. Though the timer wasn’t needed she felt that for amber maybe keeping track of things might help her push herself… Or might drag her down. She felt the former was probably going to be the case!
Meanwhile a great distance away, Silence had taken coal to vander tower. Instructing her to do some stretches and the like before going off to fetch iko. Or rather go tell him that the renamon-x was up in the arena waiting for him. Silence knew that once coal was done she would be tired so she set the youth up with a room all her own for the meantime!
The renamon-x was sitting on the floor, doing some leg stretches. Looking around the area with a look of curiosity plain on her features. She had never been here; nor had she been to the bustling town of rosewood. Both of them were strange and foreign to her. So to say the least her mind wasn’t entirely on the stretches and she’d blink as she felt her leg complain about stretching for too long.
”Good gravy…”
She’d shake her head a little bit and reach up, they had decided only to bring one set of goggles and her glasses for today. Since she figured that silence would want her to have just the glasses on for quick removal the renamon-x had decided to wear those first. And if her trainer wanted her to wear the goggles? She’d switch to those. Giving a small shake of her head before she’d stand up she couldn’t help but wonder what he would want of her.
Or what he’d ask her to do. She had never met this guy before and had no idea what he was like. In fact… He was her ma’s boss. Which meant he had to be a tough guy right? Was it a good idea for him to train her? She’d bite her lower lip and then sigh softly.
At least jade isn’t peeking over my shoulder while I read books or ma isn’t being noisy in the kitchen. It’s… almost peaceful here.
However short that’d be it wouldn’t take long to notice that there was another renamon sitting in the ‘stands’ of the arena. Right around where the medical standby section was; he’d look up from the book he was reading and give her a small wave. She’d return it ever so meekly before he went back to reading.
Guy looks like one of those fancy butlers… Wonder what his deal is?

Was Amber looking forward to today?
Not really. She had been positive and gung-ho about it for her sister, but really, there was just something in the back of the fox's head bugging her about all of this. Fighting, training to be stronger? Practice was one thing, but wasn't making a whole routine out of it taking it a bit too far?
Regardless, Amber didn't voice her complaints. She simply went about her own life until then: drawing, occasional trips to the store with 'ma, and the like. But the day would eventually roll around when Coal would be taken to the Knight's tower, by portal - leaving Amber and Holly largely alone up there in the mountains. Holly didn't find Amber working on a piece of art when she was opening the door.
Nope - instead, she was looking over a 'gift' that Syre left for her this morning: training weights! She hadn't unpacked them yet, but there were two sets: one for her ankles, and one for her wrists. Looking over them, the fox found her ear flicking as Holly opened the door. "Heh - guess it is the day." Putting a smile on her face, the artsy fox would stand up, and stretch out her arms as she looked towards the Meiphemon.
"Interesting that dad and mom mentioned you for this, though. I thought you used, like, electricity?" As for Iko?
Typically, he left the family affairs of their members alone, but with how many of this family were a part of the Knights, or were considering it, Iko more-or-less had to make an exception for these foxes and cats. Besides, another shadow-user that wasn't just some crazed demon or devil type out in the Dark Area? The wolf had a bit of personal interest in this one!
As Silence let Iko know that his student was here, the wolf would give a nod, and would make his way over to the arena. One might have expected him to look stern, but he actually managed to keep a casual air around himself, for once. He was dealing with an absolute beginner, after all! Coal would hear a door open in front of her, as Iko would nod for Silence to take the stands with the butler. The wolf would step out, looking right over towards Coal with those odd, yellow eyes.
"Coal, then?" The Ankomon gave a nod. "Let's see exactly what you can do, before I start teaching you. Give it everything ya got."

Holly’s surprise was palatable as she saw the gift that syre had left her sister; she hadn’t been told about it at all! The meiphemon got a grin on her face and would stuff the timer away; she really had to thank whoever gave it to them. She’d put the free hand on her hip and give a small nod.
”Yup! We’re gonna do this the same days that coal does so the two of you can spend time together. I know how much you two enjoy it so it’s not like I would want to split you up. That and I’ll also be keeping in touch with iko. If your training aligns with hers in a similar way I’d want to try to train you in the same place. Since I imagine you two will probably end up working together on something here or there.”
There were notes of that on her clipboard; she had to jot everything down so that maybe later she could show it to the wolf. For someone that was so spastic or carefree, holly was taking this very seriously. She’d rub at her chin and grin ear to ear hearing that question.
”I use a little bit of everything actually. Darkness, Lightning, teleportation, regeneration, Self boosts, cloning. Some kind of strange energy for this form. Holy and electricity are my highest levels amusingly. But it’s not the reason they asked me to train you.”
She’d tap her clipboard with a finger and then tilt her head to one side. Something that the other wouldn’t know about is her training as an assassin. The art of remaining unseen. Something that she would pass on to her younger sister for an entirely different reason.
”I had training to help me remain hidden, unseen by people and mon alike. And that’s the training I’m going to give you to use in tandem with your abilities. So understanding those and working to better yourself is what I’m gonna do! That and some regular fighting stuff~ Covering a buncha bases sis!”
She’d beam at her sister and reach out to rub the top of her head; she had a placec set out for the both of them. It was the same training spot her da had used to work on his demonlord stuff without upsetting the town.
”Now lets go! Bit of a hike before we get to the training spot… Which I can use to see what sort of pace you can set~”
Silence was happy that she at least knew one person she could talk to about this sort of stuff; following after Iko the shutmon would have preferred to go about her business so that Coal wasn’t nervous about being watched that was immediately put to rest by the fact that garland was in the stands. She’d shrug her shoulders, giving a small smile to coal and a wave before joining the butler.
Coal blinked owlishly as she saw iko; not sure what to make with him. He had strange eyes just like she did but… His matched while hers were strange and different. Sure she had the eyes of each of her parents but… usually that’s where it ended right? She’d nod her head slowly at his initial question.
”Y-yeah…”
She was nervous; he wanted to see everything she could do? Well the first thing she knew to show was the way she could manipulate shadows. She raised either hand and as though there were strings attached a good grouping of tendrils came up from the ground; forming quickly into blades. They weren’t all too sharp and her nervousness definitely wasn’t helping their strength. He just wanted to see the things right? He didn’t want her to use them on him?
She’d drop those after a moment, showing on one of the dummies that they were capable of piercing through them. Though coal flinched upon seeing this. She’d show off that she knew how to make the area turn black as night, even going so far as to use that self same darkness as a grouping of chains. The very last thing that she knew how to do required her to take off her glasses… Then she’d launch that shadow spear from her eye, blasting the dummy apart which made her flinch again. The dummy wasn’t made up to the standard of rookie toughness but it was still something she didn’t know how to deal with entirely…
”That’s what I know how to do…”

She may have been looking over the gift, but Amber hadn't even taken the weights out of the packaging yet. She didn't know what today was going to be, after all - and as vain as it might have sounded, Amber didn't want to make this any harder than it had to be on herself.
So those weights would be left on the dresser, as Amber would blink towards her sister. Was that seven different things that her older sister could do? "Eheh... maybe that explains how Coal and I ended up so different. So many different elements in the family makes for a lot of different stuff..." Giving a nervous chuckle, she'd give a nod at Holly's explanation. Holly was going to teach her how to use her invisibility more effectively, as well as teach her how to fight in general.
Made sense - she gave a nod, closing her eyes at that head-pat, before she'd move to follow the Meiphemon out of her room! "Well, thankfully the weather looks like it'll be holding up well enough - so long as the forecast holds up, anyway..." As they made their way to the door, Amber would grab her cloak - a dark, rough red in color - and would move to follow right along with Holly. At the start, her pace wasn't too bad - though her steps were pretty deliberate, taking care not to slip on any invisible patches of ice on the path. As for Iko?
He was perhaps one of the few who could keep track of Coal through her efforts, and see exactly where the Renamon was without missing a beat. He could still sense the differences in light and the movement of the shadows, but it didn't impede his ability to sense the fox - his eyes traced calmly between her and the target, seeing it all.
The tendrils, the blades, the chains - and the spear launched from her eye. It would have been difficult for Silence to track, but for Iko? He got a pretty decent picture of it, even from such a short display.
"Interesting - by the way you're talking about it, it doesn't seem like you're intentionally manipulating the shapes. Meaning the chains and the spear are already things decided by the construct of your data?" The wolf mused. "But it also means that you're expending a lot of energy for these grand occurrences. Less 'control' and more simply exerting as much force as you can to fill the requirements of the attack."
"So let's take a step back. Watch me - with your goggles off." Iko would nod, step forward, and crouch down next to Coal's shadow - tapping it once with his nail. As he pulled back, the shadow itself would be drawn into his palm, much like a spider web, until it formed into a ball in his palm. And that ball would then turn into the shape of a dagger - one that Iko would toss down, stabbing through the floor, leaving a small gash in it before melting back into the fox's remaining shadow.
"That is where you want to be with your own shadow: being able to shape and use it to form proper weapons. This looks similar to using your tendrils... but that method of incantation is inefficient. As it stands, if someone gets close to you, and dodges the technique from your eye, you're defenseless."

Holly glanced at the weights; noting that they would work for early stages but she wasn’t entirely sure how long they’d be effective for angel. Holly herself no longer needed to use weights and didn’t need to train her body the same way that rookies did. Given the fact that her higher forms were capable of lifting so much it would be difficulty to find weights that were reasonably priced so sparring or long treks were what she needed to do in order to progress her own body.
”Mhm. Silence after all has a host of abilities she can call from and well… Da is definitely someone that the both of you kind of take after in some regards.”
Holly scratched down some notes and looked over amber for a moment or two; giving her a sweet smile as they moved out of that room. The weather wasn’t really a problem she felt; if it was she could just move it to a different location or move it to where the knights base was! It was always sunny and there was a lot of room on the island to work with!
”It’ll be a nice enough day; don’t think we need to worry too much. If it does get bad there’s a secondary training area I’m going to introduce you to tomorrow on our ‘day’ off.”
It wasn’t hard for holly to set a reasonable pace for her sister; or to see what sort of pace the other could keep. But it’d take little over an hour for them to get to the location that holly had planned out. It was an obstacle course of sorts! Many different balancing tests, a few agility tests and a simple rope tied between two long logs. The fall wasn’t bad enough to get hurt but there was still a net just in case.
How long did it take holly to get all this set up? She’d turn her eyes to her sister and lily would yawn after a moment. Deciding to speak up rather than just nap or watch what holly was doing.
”A lot of this took in mind that you’re gait is much different than what holly had as a rookie. Given her form is a meicoomon and you are much taller than that ball of fluff.”
”I mean I’m only a little shorter than Da is in that form…”
Holly almost seemed hurt on the comparison and lily just rolled her eyes. Deciding to laze around and make holly float for a small moment. The latter of which shrugged her shoulders and pointed at the first test. This one was to see how well she’d do in base.
”Just run through that course, slip off the platforms and you have to start over. Get to the middle point and slip after that you can climb the ladder to the ‘check point’ get through all three checkpoints and then we’ll move onto the next test…”
The first section wouldn’t be too bad, just some raised platforms with small bits of rope here or there. Some of them were slicked with ice but that was intentional. It was to see how she’d handle her balance upset.
The second portion had some slow moving bags that would knock the renamon off of her perch if she didn’t move quickly enough. Testing to see her reaction time and how much space she needed.
The third and final portion was a line of rope that had two lines on either side. A bridge of sorts. Here or there the entire bridge would buck or shift. If amber didn’t grab onto the side ropes or jump onto them she’d be tossed off the middle one...
Coal felt herself sweating at the end of everything; shivering a bit and rubbing her face with her hands. She’d turn to face Iko as he started speaking; but she had forgotten to put her glasses back on. So she got a moment where she was staring at him and his core. She’d fumble for her glasses and place them back onto her head. Sighing a bit.
”I think so… When me and my ma sparred the chains appeared when I wanted her to get ‘slower’ and the spear lashed out of my eye, breaking my goggles when she went after my sister. So both were kinda… reactionary.”
Coal blinked as he told her about the energy usage; that made sense ot her. She’d rub at her chin thoughtfully; if that was the case she’d have to build up her reserves right? She’d stare at the wolf and then blink again as he explained that and then even requested her take off her goggles. She’d fidget and remove her glasses again; getting a good look at iko and his core again.
”All… right.”
It was hard not to stare; it was so different than her ma’s, her Da’s and her sisters. She’d rub at her face and then watch what he was doing. She could see the flow of everything, she could see how the shadow responded to iko’s energy and the way that it spun as a web. With this eye she saw everything lain bare in front of her. It was exhilarating to watch and further still it didn’t hurt as much.
The renamon shifted a little bit as he stabbed into the floor with that dagger; she could see it’s sharpness. See it down to the code; she could see it as it split the floor apart. The code groaning and shifting apart. She could also see the coding of the arena as it slowly repaired the damage Iko had done. The way he had done everything made her just stand there for a moment. If he did it that way… Maybe she could do it too. He was a champion level right? There was no way that was a rookie level. Was there a difference in power she was missing?
The renamon didn’t want to use that as an excuse; instead she’d close her eyes. Exhaling a little bit as she pictured what Iko did. But then she’d try to think this through. What she needed was control; not just trying to form fit. But that was hard to do en masse. So what she’d do was just concentrate on one tendril instead. The renamon felt that her shadow was fighting her; it was difficult to really make it do what she wanted so she’d grumble a bit.
The tendril responded and slowly the shadow that she had; if iko returned it to her would slowly grow. Seeming as sharp and dangerous as she could get at the moment. Given her understanding of this ability. She’d Focus more and more; it wasn’t sharp enough. It wasn’t large enough; it didn’t do enough. But it kept expanding. Kept growing. A dagger. A sword. A greatsword. A lance. A great lance.
It was a little too much at the end and the renamon felt her legs wobble. She’d put a hand to her head and growl. She had overdone it just a bit. But for a moment iko would be able to see she could do it if she put her mind to it.
”Not right. Small… Small…”
She didn’t want it to be big. She wanted it to be compact, right. Small. Being able to control it like he did. But her shadow had other plans. It was heavy; harsh. Difficult. There wasn’t much to it other than that. For every stage she tried it would fight her. It wasn’t meant to be just a single tendril!

Coal had an interesting problem - one that took Iko a couple of tries to realize just what was going on. The fox had immense 'base' power, but had very little control over the scale - almost as if her shadow was a whole 'beast', rather than a simple source for her to control. That alone wasn't a bad thing, and it wasn't entirely clear if this sort of training was possible - and after a few attempts, Iko would motion for her to stop.
"Let's try something else... Garlond? Bring me a piece of chalk and a candle. Actually, a pack of each." The training would be put on hold for just a minute or so, as the butler would eventually come back with those supplies. Striking a match, Iko would carefully light the candle, before setting it down on the ground between himself and Coal. He'd then take the piece of chalk, draw about a foot-long circle around the candle, before letting the chalk stand upright a few inches away. The candle's flame would send out a flickering, uneasy shadow from the candle itself.
Iko gave a nod, and planted his palms on either side of the chalk line, a single finger intersecting the chalk's shadow. He focused - the shadow would steady, thin out, and become one dark circle, entirely and evenly filling the chalk outline, without a single bit spilling out to the end.
"You might not be able to do small manipulations. That's fine - even if you do stronger ones, you can do this." The wolf gave a nod towards Coal, as he drew his hands back, the shadow gaining its original shape. "I'm not going to change the 'game' again, though. I want you to keep at this until you're able to fill out the shape. Without disturbing the chalk or the candle, and without the shadow going outside of the circle." ... An obstacle course?
Coming up to it, Amber gave a blink as she saw just what Holly had come up with - and honestly, more than anything else, she was impressed! Rather than immediately climb up, the fox would move towards one of the trees, and test the rigidity of the base of one of the platforms, finding it to be nice and solid. The ropes looked good, the careful swing of the bags already in place - and the last bridge looked unsteady, but that was intentional, right?
"... Sis, how long did it take you to make this?" The Renamon-X gave a chuckle, and climbed up, sitting on the first platform as she listened to Holly's instructions. Alright, so this was an obstacle course? The fox gave a nod at the Meiphemon's explanation, and would step right up on the first platform. "So I just have to get to the end... like this?" Amber would jump - and her foot would catch the ice straight away as she failed to stick her first landing, sending her sprawling past the first platform, right into the rope-net below. Caught in its springy grip, the fox would shake her head, pick herself up, and crawl right back to the start.
"... More like..."
She tried again. This time, she kicked off of one foot, and trusted her other foot to land - only to feel it skid, only able to stick her landing as she let her other take the weight.
... Right. This wasn't going to work. She calmly took a breath, and slowly slipped down to all fours - looking much more like a proper fox, as she felt her weight easily slip into her front paws. The next few jumps, after she made that switch, were less perfect - but her claws were able to make up for the mistakes, and with a careful pause after each jump, she'd actually manage to clear the section on her second attempt.
Only to see those swinging bags in front of her.
"... They look much heavier up close..."

Coal fidgeted a little bit once she had shown off what she knew how to do; she wasn’t entirely sure what iko would think of all this but seeing him call the butler down for something made her blink a few times. The butler himself gave a nod and headed out to go get exactly what he asked for. A pack of chalk, a pack of candles and well… A lighter to light the candle. It was brisk and coal wondered just where garlond had gotten this.
”I uh… oh.”
Coal watched what iko was doing, that chalk had her attention and she’d tilt her head as the candle was now lit. A circle around the candle which made a little ‘zone’. Silence leaned a bit and squinted to see what iko was doing. She had expected him to want to see those abilities again. Coal on the other hand would have to put her glasses on so she could at least understand what he was doing without getting distracted by his energy flow.
”I’ll try but… I’m not sure how well I’ll be able to do this…”
Coal grimaced a bit and leaned down, shifting and placing her hands to either side like iko had done. But where iko had shown masterful control all coal was able to manage was extending the shadow about halfway to the chalk… before it became a splotchy mess with no control; the renamon-x shifted her weight a bit and tried again, only to make the chalk practically explode outward. Covering her front with a thin layer of white. She’d have to rub it off of her glasses and she’d huff softly.
”It’s either too much or too little…”
She didn’t seem upset at this; more unsure how to proceed. Her nervousness was obvious; given that iko was brand new and she was still being watched by her mother and this… Garland. It was making her somewhat uncomfortable and she kept glancing at the two of them wondering what they thought of the situation. Seeing her daughter glance up at her; silence gained a smile and she’d give them a little thumbs up.
”...hnn…”
She’d try again, again and again. But each time was met with failure either at being unable to go too far, or she had it blow up in her face. Eventually her hands wouldn’t stop shaking and she’d have to rub at her fur with a somewhat irritated look. She had made some progress sure; being able to fill it out more, or not having it quite explode on her but… it was obvious she had a lot of work ahead of her.
Holly on the other hand wasn’t even sure how much work Amber needed. She’d shift a bit and noting that jaded had followed the pair she’d get a grin. Having the AI around would make this a lot easier and the little orbs floated along to each checkpoint. Holly would get each of them to have little numbers on their exteriors with their coloration. That way amber knew how far along she was!
”Well when Silence told me about the training she wanted me to do for you I went out and got some equipment and supplies to build this. Took about two days to get everything set up, another for safety purposes. And then yesterday is when the coating came in so I had to treat everything. All and all? Four days.”
Holly gave a shrug and watched her sister step onto that first platform; she’d get her clipboard and watched the renamon-x. Nodding her head at her question and then just seemed to analyze what she was looking at. Ice would always be a problem for beginners but given their location it made sense to add it into things.
Amber was light on her feet, quick to adjust and all she really needed was instructions. Holly would shift and write down some stuff for the first part. Noting what amber needed and noted just how she was able to approach this problem.
It seemed going down to four paws was a good beginners way of handling this; something she’d have to address later. But for now she just wanted to see what sort of timetable she was going to have to work with. With two failures and one success on this section… And just about a minute over all with her having to climb back up? Wasn’t too bad in terms of timing.
With her being at the next checkpoint holly would call to her sister.
”Don’t worry! They’re treated so they shouldn’t be hard. They’ll just knock you off into the netting if you get hit.”
The bags were filled with the fluff from inside the pillows, treated with the same stuff to keep ice from forming. So they would be relatively soft but would pack enough of a punch to knock the renamon-x off of the course and into the rope. Holly smiled warmly up at her sister and waited for her to get going to start the timer again…
The meiphemon would only offer advice to her sister if she needed it; if amber took too much information in it wouldn’t be good. And if she explained how to deal with all the bags as she went it’d make it difficult for amber to concentrate. The meiphemon would shift her weight and write down some other notes she noticed about her sister while they were up there…
”Might have to ask da if he has any tips for courses like this…”

Four days, just for her training?
If anything, that thought made her feel a bit bad about feeling unsure about the training this morning. Now that Amber was out here, moving her feet, and figuring out what she needed to do, it actually didn't seem so bad - and the way that Holly set it up, it sort of looked like a game!
A slippery game, with a springy net keeping her from simply rolling down the hill when she fell - and once Amber got past the first platform, she had gained an understanding for just how tricky this was. Right, even if the bags weren't going to whollop her, they'd still probably do a number on her as she'd be flung off the platform - so what was the best way to go about this? The Renamon-X first checked to see if there was a timing where she could just run through, but the bags seemed to be swinging at an uneven rate. So, it was more a stop-and-go sort of thing?
The Renamon-X would get right back up onto two feet, idly testing the platform in front of her, before she'd make a dart forward. The first move was easy - she moved from one platform to the next simply by moving to wrap her arms around the next tree - but the next stretch with two bags?
She blinked, made her way through the first bit - stopped for the second bag to get out of the way - and then found herself swung right off by the first bag, hitting her right in the side. She fell off, swearing under her breath as she clambered back up onto the platform.
"Friggin blind spots..." Another thing to keep in mind. She still seemed to have a kick to her step, though, and with gritted teeth and another four tries, a near exhausted Amber would finally find her way onto the second checkpoint.
Dear lord, this wasn't easy. At this point?
There was not much Iko could teach. Shadowcraft was a unique skill, one that Iko could definitely help with, but unless Coal was already at a baseline understanding of how her shadows worked, the wolf himself would be too high level of a teacher. And he knew, for a fact, that Coal wasn't going to be able to do this in the first day. It required thinking, a good sense of balance, confidence, and the ability to adjust with your own flow - especially to make the color as flush and consistent as Iko made it.
So he'd watch, as Coal slowly made her progress, not giving too much advice one way or the other. Again and again Coal would try, and fail, and try again - making progress, but perhaps so slight that the fox might not notice it from try to try.
"On the plus side," Iko mentioned, "This is something you can easily try at home. Not with a candle, but with a lightbulb, a pencil, a stick... your sister is an artist, right?" The wolf gave a nod: "Eventually, maybe you'll be able to fill out the lines of her sketches."

Holly really didn’t think too much of the length of time that she took for her sister; she didn’t really think about the resources that had gone into the building of this stuff. Hell it didn’t even really feel like four days with this. In fact she had used just herself to build this just to make sure everything was done. She’d gingerly run her hand along one of the trees, her eyes flicking to watch the renamon-x.
The first platform was easy really; only a minute time.
The second strip?
Holly could see amber pause; she could see that she was struggling on the timing. She was too focused on each step and not the step behind her that was the one that knocked her off. Hearing the swearing she’d chuckle lightly; tapping a pencil against the keyboard. Was amber the sort to blow up in stressful situations? Or would she bottle it in and barrel through things? Or perhaps she’d be like her mother in the way that she would laugh it off after a while.
”So far so good! Just under two minutes.”
The meiphemon floated up to the platform, glancing at amber. There was still another four checkpoints to go but amber looked exhausted. She’d fiddle around in her pocket, providing a bottle of water to amber and a small smile.
”Drink this and tell me what you think so far.”
Holly wanted to see what her sister thought, a small break between these attempts would help amber center herself as well as give her a sort of cushion for the moment. She wasn’t used to this sort of stuff and holly didn’t want to make amber extremely upset with being irrationally difficult on her. If the youth wanted to stop holly would let her; but she would also only have so much to work with…
”Think you can do the entire obstacle course?”
Coal stared at the shadow; she felt the sweat matting her brow and she’d rub it away with her arm. It was getting harder and harder for her to control the stuff. Not because she was under the watchful eyes of strangers but because she was exhausting her pool of energy.
”...Little bits of training wherever I can right?”
Coal looked up at iko; blinking a bit as the wolf asked about her sister. She’d slowly nod her head and then blink owlishly at hearing him say something about someday being able to fill out the lines of her sketches. She’d frown a bit and rub at her neck; seeming out of sorts with that comment.
”...I mean that seems nice but I know that she probably would prefer shading them herself. Sure I can do little stuff like this…”
She remembered the small examon that she was able to make from before; it wasn’t shaky and it wasn’t hard. The little form popping out of the shadow and giving iko a wave. It had definition, it had actual character. It wasn’t some shadow, it had depth and heart to it. Coal sat there idly for a moment before trying at the circle again. The examon didn’t vanish while she was doing this thought.
”I don’t really… do much other than sit around and read. I thought maybe ma would have something in mind for me with training… But I guess not.”
Coal seemed a little disheartened at this but she’d continue on’ she seemed less tired and just sort of was staring at what she was doing. There was a strange sense of calm that had washed over her; but there was that disappointment that she had that iko would be able to clearly see.
What had silence intended by bringing her here of all places? To train with iko of all people? That wasn’t even something that she had brought up to the wolf. But maybe she didn’t need to...

The second set was definitely trickier than the first.
Reaching that second checkpoint, Amber did indeed take a small break, sitting right on the side of the wooden platform. She took the bottle, giving a nod towards her floating sister (heck, she'd been around Holly long enough, stuff like that was just normal by now!). Uncapping the bottle, the fox took a long drink, before turning her eyes to face the rest of the course.
"Its... ugh, harder than I thought it would be. I mean its cold, so I don't really feel my body heat up out here, but I'm feeling the strain in my arms and legs a lot quicker than I thought out here... its like I'm exerting myself without thinking it, or something?" It was probably a combination of the obstacle course and the absolutely frigid weather.
Regardless, Amber would get back up on her feet - hop down - and move right back to the start of the obstacle course. "Don't know about the entire thing, but I do want to keep going for a bit. Keep an eye on me, alright, big sis?"
She'd give a nod, and would set off onto the obstacle course once more! "Don't think of it as a little bit of training, Coal. Think of it more as something to learn - something you take seriously, until you're able to do it like blinking, or breathing."
Was that a bit much? The wolf didn't seem to think so, and even went on to talk about more complicated shapes. His head tilted at the next thing, though - seeing Coal manage to produce a small dragon out of the shadow.
... Curious. Did Coal's shadow have its own will? That might explain why this was so tricky, as the Renamon-X didn't seem to pay that creation any mind, and it didn't impact the circles she was working on. "Hm... don't be disappointed at the form of training, Coal." Iko gave a small nod.
"It may start out simple, but once you have a handle on this? You'll have a good basis to start for everything else."

Holly tilted her head this way and that; watching her sister as they rested. She definitely seemed tired; winded and likely would need some more rest the more she practiced. Holly didn’t want to push amber too much. Especially since this was to just get a grasp on what she needed to improve on.
”Mmm. You’ve definitely got the right of it; the cold is a slow and painful sort to deal with if you’re having to do stuff in it like this. BUt I knew for a fact training outside of it when you live in the place normally wouldn’t help. That and training here will make it easier to work in other environments and some harsh ones as well. I imagine if you get used to this that regular weather locales won’t give you a lick of trouble!”
Holly beamed at this fact and she’d watch her sister; blinking as the other as she wanted to just retry the segments she had gone through again. Shrugging her shoulders, Holly figured she could just time her sister and see how she improved on the early segments.
”Baby steps then! Heh of course! If I think we need to stop I’ll call it for you. And of course amber!”
Holly was giddy at being called big sis, she didn’t feel like a good older sister really. Just one that knew what to do in this realm of things…
”Huh… I suppose that makes sense.”
Coal looked to the training she was participating in, moving her hands in such a way that she was trying to work with the shadow. She was really tired at this point; having to exert a lot of energy to do what iko wanted her to do. She was still at that stage of zero to one hundred but that small dragon out of her shadow wasn’t affected by her tugging.
”...I think less disappointed and more surprised than anything…”
She’d mumble a bit and then nod her head a few times; so this was a good starting step? Well she’d have to keep working on it; try to find where her median was if she even had one. But one little slip up and coal would be flat on her back, her front covered in chalk and panting in exertion.
”H-heck…”
Her shadow turned back into the regular bit that she normally had rather than a dragon. She'd squeeze her eyes shut and let out a long breath before sitting back up. Rubbing at her face and pulling her glasses off. She had been trying with the glasses on. How would it go with the glasses off?

"I guess... its better to get used to the home weather first, right?"
Amber gave a chuckle. There was no doubt about it: this was hard, and absolutely nothing about this came easy to the Renamon! But her demeanor about it seemed less apprehensive than this morning, smiles coming easier to her face. Maybe she was starting to like it, or maybe Amber really needed that drink to pick herself up. For now, it was just a matter of keeping up the pace - what good was it going to be if Amber stopped right when she started to feel the strain?
No. She had to push through it, get used to it, and rely on her more medically-inclined sister to keep an eye on her. She saw her breath condense into cold vapor again, as she put herself on the starting line once more... As for Iko?
Silence knew from the start that Iko was more of a hands-on teacher, so perhaps this approach would catch the Renamon's eye, the longer it went on. All the wolf gave Coal was a goal: not instructions for how to spread her shadow thin, or hints as to how she could do it, or anything of the like. Either Iko had no idea what he was doing - which was unlikely - or he truly thought that this was the best way to go about it.
And Coal? Coal didn't give up. She got tired, yes, but even then she decided to try and figure it out herself, going as far as to take off her glasses to try and focus. The wolf would nod, sit across from Coal, and simply observe with crossed arms... "Uuuuuugh..."
Well, that was an ordeal! Mikemon's ear gave a flick as he came back through the front door, back to the living room, seeing the yellow Renamon lying on her back. The fox was completely wiped, gloved hand over the front of her head, as she caught her breath. "I didn't know I had all of these muscles..."
"..." The doctor didn't give a remark at that, simply giving a chuckle and a nod over to Holly. "I take it that it went about as expected, then?"

”Yup yup! If we didn’t live in such an area already I’d have tried to take you to a harsher environment so your body could adapt to it.”
Holly was rather proud of her little sister, watching her with an easy smile on her face. The other definitely needed that water and breaks were thankfully manageable with her training. There was no point pushing her if she wasn’t willing to go that far herself. She was glad that she was willing to go the distance.
She’d lean on one hand, watching the youth go to the start; if she saw that amber needed to stop or rest again they’d do so without question. She wasn’t about to ask her sister to push themselves to the point of breaking.
”Try to think of the lines and platforms in your head as something more comfortable if that helps. The bags are only small obstacles; you’ve done it before but try to explore different venues of how to approach them.”
Holly shifted and watched her sister take to the starting line once again…
Coal wasn’t the sort to quit; even that was made apparent this early on. Was she stressed? Was she tired? Yes and yes. But that didn’t stop her from continuing her training. She could feel the eyes of Iko, Garland and silence on her. But that sort of fell to the wayside as she continued; she felt sweat matte her fur to her body and she’d exhale slowly as she just worked through it. She didn’t feel like she had improved at all but that wasn’t the point of this training; it was just to keep going right? To see how she could do on her own right?
Her hands were shaking and after a bit she had to close her eyes so that they could rest. She’d shake her head and look to iko once this occurred, half looking at him and half not.
”I try… pulling at it and it moves a little or too much… I don’t think I can get my energy to flow the same way you do right now… So how do I approach it?”
She wasn’t going to stop until she progressed a little; or at the very least couldn’t tug at the shadow anymore… Coal had a very one tracked mind it seemed. Not too unlike another particular fox...
The meiphemon was rather happy at seeing that renamon had been able to do all that and on her first day! She was sitting across from them, a water pitcher on the center table with a few glasses out just in case Silence or coal came back. She’d smile wide as the mikemon came in.
”You’ll get used to it! And just about; she did very well for the segments she tackled today. Just the first two but I think that’s more than enough. We’ll be doing the next two the day after tomorrow. Kinda surprised coal isn’t back yet.”
The meiphemon tilted her head this way or that, lily rolling her eyes and blowing out a small breath of air. She was bored that much was certain but unlike holly she hadn’t really been keeping track of things with the renamon-x. She had been watching for potential threats while they did the training… As it was outside of the safe area of the town.

An interesting question.
Iko wanted Coal to figure it out herself, but asking these questions was part of the process. And hearing that, the wolf would sit down in front of her, and draw a chalk circle in front of himself. He'd drag a nail through his own shadow, drawing the dark energy back into his palm. "You talk about 'pulling' - as if you're trying to stretch it. But perhaps that simply means there wasn't enough there to begin with."
For reference? He let a single 'drop' of that shadow fall into the chalk circle - and he tapped his nail right against the middle. It stretched out, but being so little, it failed to reach the edge. After that, Iko let the rest of the shadow fall in, and did the same thing: it extended out far wider than the chalk line, easily upending it into a cloud of smoke as it made a much larger circle.
"Addition and subtraction. Focus on the shape, more than anything - and then adjust what you are putting into it, accordingly." "The day after tomorrow, huh?"
"Holly wants to make sure that I'm not running a cold or something... that, and I don't think this is something I can keep up every day..." Amber gave a groan, sitting up to stretch out her arms. "Sheesh... did you do practice like this, Holly?"
"Actually, Holly mostly practices with Syre." The doctor gave a half shrug at that. "Mostly running, occasional sparring. Holly's one of the few around that can be at your sister's size, so..."
"Huh... its kinda late, isn't it?"
Amber changed the topic, and Mikemon's eyes flicked over to the clock. Right... the doctor took out his D-Terminal, and texted Silence.
Don't let that wolf go crazy. Coal needs to recharge at some point.

Coal stared down at the chalk circle that iko drew in front of him; her eyes tracking his every movement without the glasses on. Hearing that there wasn’t enough to work with to begin with didn’t sound right to her. But she still decided to watch; to try to understand what he meant.
Seeing that single drop of shadow in the circle only made her tilt her head; staring quietly at what he was doing. The little dot failed to reach the edge, while the larger amount completely upheaved the shadow. Hearing him speak again her eyes flicked up to Iko.
”I’ll… try that then.”
She was feeling very tired; had royally gone through a lot of energy but she still wanted to see what she could do. Focus on the shape? She could do that. It wasn’t hard to create shapes with shadows. But it was the control she lacked right? So she’d try again. And again. Making little progress in her eyes...
Even if she was able to fill out the circle about halfway before having to stop again; putting her hands up to her head with a groan. It didn’t seem like she’d get much further today...
Holly gave a nod at her da; shifting slightly to take a drink of water. She wasn’t looking to wear her sister down to the bone. She’d sip at that water and grin slightly at that question. Did she practice like this?
”Yup yup! Her, some of the knights, another group that’s no longer around. Uh… And a few fights inbetween also helped. But I wouldn’t go suggesting trying to pick fights just to train yourself up.”
Holly waved her hands a few times and then flicked her ears forward; it was indeed late wasn’t it? She’d check at her watch and frown. Coal should have been back when Amber came back right? Or were they getting really into it?
"Just a bit... Wonder if they're okay."
”Hmm?”
Silence shifted a little bit and pulled out her D-terminal. Noting the text and the time the wolf rubbed at her face with one hand. She had really gotten into watching her daughter and the shutmon sighed. Standing up and hopping out of the stands down into the arena.
”As much as coal probably wants to continue, you two have been at it for most of the day. It’s time I bring her home.”
”Just one more time…”
Coal mumbled a bit and well… Maybe just maybe; she stretched a little too far for once. Or perhaps it was her stress and her exhaustion but she mostly managed to fill out her circle without blowing it up on her for a couple seconds… before it eventually exploded on her. Covering her in chalk again with a weary sigh; casting a look at iko with a somewhat slump of her shoulders.
”...Wednesday Mr. Iko?”
Silence had to shoot Mikemon a text just to make sure he didn’t worry, managing a small smile at her daughter who seemed to… well actually be for this now rather than dreading it earlier like she seemed to be!
Just wrapped up the last one. She’s been surprisingly into this.
