There was something about being a college student Rei just had trouble getting used to. In all honesty? It was probably related to the fact he couldn't laze around campus all that much anymore. Considering his free time was about to get severely compromised after agreeing to make Viza's (and Maia's) casino reflourish, the fact that his days of lazying were over was even more evident.
Despite its ups and downs, the battle against Rodney could be considered a success. Go-En (was that really going to be their name?) had been officially created to give continuity to the dream of Viza's ancestors. That didn't mean, however, he could stop trying to live a normal life back in the Human World. Luckily, the time curvature really helped him keep things under control and be able to perform his Digital World tasks.
Of course, having a couple of digital critters as friends could make your Human World tasks a lot more interesting. Or... complicated, for that matter.
"Psst. Rei...!" Although dimly, Rei could catch Viza's voice calling him through a whisper. The sound was coming from his digivice. While he browsed through some books at the library, the human looked around to make sure no one had their eyes on him.
"I told you..." He whispered, too. "... I would only let you two come if you stayed quiet." He knew this was a terrible idea from the start. Boru and Viza, however, had asked him to go with him to the Human World, even if they could only come out of the digivice on very limited occasions. Considering he owed his very life to the first of this digimon and his main reason to live to the second one, the human who had recently acquired the title of Tamer had decided this was a decent way to pay them back, somehow. Yes, he was not known for having the best ideas. But everyone in Go-En, Boru, and Viza included, knew this.
"I know, I know." Viza admitted she was not acting according to their deal, although still whispering. "But this dimwit is just acting very weird. I think he wanted to tell you something."
Immediately, Rei could hear Boru's voice whispering too, notably nervous about Viza's comment. "N-No...! I mean... Umm... Everything is okay... I think?" Was he even trying to lie? If so, the Psychemon was known for being terrible at it, so the sole attempt was almost offensive.
"Please tell me, Boru." Kind to his partner, as always, Rei decided to discover the source of this immediately.
After a short pause that seemed to be determinant to whether Boru decided to speak his mind or not, the Psychemon finally explained. "Hmmm... I'm not one hundred percent sure okay? But... I feel a source of digital energy nearby. I could almost swear there is... something."
"Something like...?"
"A digimon... p-probably."
Rei's eyes widened. At the Human World? What were the odds?
"Can you go check so he stops being annoying? He's making me nervous." Viza groaned.
"Okay. Keep quiet for a second." Slowly, Rei took out his digivice from his pocket, putting it in front of him, the screen facing upwards. "So... where is it coming from?"
After a second or two of silence, Boru delivered an answer. "I think... it's coming from behind. It's close so... m-maybe in the next room?"
Rei turned back. Behind him, a hallway that ended in a wooden door. Were students allowed to go in there? He was definitely going to find out. The human decided to walk through the hallway and open the door, no one being around to stop him from doing it.
What would he find inside?
