The Queen of Clubs [Rui] [Go-En]

There was something about being a college student Rei just had trouble getting used to. In all honesty? It was probably related to the fact he couldn't laze around campus all that much anymore. Considering his free time was about to get severely compromised after agreeing to make Viza's (and Maia's) casino reflourish, the fact that his days of lazying were over was even more evident.
Despite its ups and downs, the battle against Rodney could be considered a success. Go-En (was that really going to be their name?) had been officially created to give continuity to the dream of Viza's ancestors. That didn't mean, however, he could stop trying to live a normal life back in the Human World. Luckily, the time curvature really helped him keep things under control and be able to perform his Digital World tasks.
Of course, having a couple of digital critters as friends could make your Human World tasks a lot more interesting. Or... complicated, for that matter.
"Psst. Rei...!" Although dimly, Rei could catch Viza's voice calling him through a whisper. The sound was coming from his digivice. While he browsed through some books at the library, the human looked around to make sure no one had their eyes on him.
"I told you..." He whispered, too. "... I would only let you two come if you stayed quiet." He knew this was a terrible idea from the start. Boru and Viza, however, had asked him to go with him to the Human World, even if they could only come out of the digivice on very limited occasions. Considering he owed his very life to the first of this digimon and his main reason to live to the second one, the human who had recently acquired the title of Tamer had decided this was a decent way to pay them back, somehow. Yes, he was not known for having the best ideas. But everyone in Go-En, Boru, and Viza included, knew this.
"I know, I know." Viza admitted she was not acting according to their deal, although still whispering. "But this dimwit is just acting very weird. I think he wanted to tell you something."
Immediately, Rei could hear Boru's voice whispering too, notably nervous about Viza's comment. "N-No...! I mean... Umm... Everything is okay... I think?" Was he even trying to lie? If so, the Psychemon was known for being terrible at it, so the sole attempt was almost offensive.
"Please tell me, Boru." Kind to his partner, as always, Rei decided to discover the source of this immediately.
After a short pause that seemed to be determinant to whether Boru decided to speak his mind or not, the Psychemon finally explained. "Hmmm... I'm not one hundred percent sure okay? But... I feel a source of digital energy nearby. I could almost swear there is... something."
"Something like...?"
"A digimon... p-probably."
Rei's eyes widened. At the Human World? What were the odds?
"Can you go check so he stops being annoying? He's making me nervous." Viza groaned.
"Okay. Keep quiet for a second." Slowly, Rei took out his digivice from his pocket, putting it in front of him, the screen facing upwards. "So... where is it coming from?"
After a second or two of silence, Boru delivered an answer. "I think... it's coming from behind. It's close so... m-maybe in the next room?"
Rei turned back. Behind him, a hallway that ended in a wooden door. Were students allowed to go in there? He was definitely going to find out. The human decided to walk through the hallway and open the door, no one being around to stop him from doing it.
What would he find inside?

All had been a blur for the Terriermon without a name. Getting up. Walking from the Village. Walking out of the Village. Walking to the center of the world (as far as she was aware), getting on a Trailmon and stepping off somewhere...familiar? But alien. A mixture of both. She knew she had been here before. Maybe in another life, but...maybe this time she'd have to do things different.
That mindset had somehow, someway, ended up causing this hapless critter to end up lost and alone within a university in the city where every other person was probably hoarding a Digimon or had seen one. Maybe?
Maybe.
She had also taken the chance to hide in a closet and hope nobody would give enough regard to look in there until she was certain that the coast was clear. Of course, the Terriermon didn't take into regard that some Digivices could pick up signals like hers, so...when someone (that being one Rei Hajime) opened that door, she could do naught but stare blankly at the human, from atop a shelf full of cleaning supplies situated above a cart.
"Hi. Could you leave me alone? I'm...um. I'm waiting for someone. And I don't think it's you."
What a calculated response to being discovered to be in a closet.

Were not for the fact Rei had interacted more than enough with Digimon during the last couple of days, this would be a quite shocking scene. This was not an extension of the library or another room, it was a closet! But, most importantly, there was a rabbit-like creature thing sitting on top of a shelf! The human didn't need Boru or Viza's confirmation to know this was a digimon! It definitely looked like one. Granted, not like any he had seen before, but he hadn't seen that many!
The human just started at the rabbit as it asked to be left alone, just after Rei had closed the door behind him to make sure no one saw it. After that? Some seconds of silence ensued, while Rei seemed to be slowly calculating his response. Once he was ready to deliver, he...
"Okay." The tamer turned around and went for the doorknob, ready to leave.
"A-Are you walking away!?" Being a lot louder than before, Boru questioned his tamer's decision through his digivice, most likely to be heard by the creature inside the closet, too.
Rei threw a cheeky little look at his digivice, shrugging as if Boru could see him. "It said it wanted to be left alone."
"But Rei... didn't you say it was dangerous for digimon to be found in the Human World? What if someone... s-sees it?" The Psychemon questioned, trying to throw some sense into the human.
"And what am I supposed to do? Take it back to the Digital World by force?" He wondered. "It is likely it's going to attack me if I try to do that, and I can't take you guys out to defend me here. Not that you can engage in a fight in this world."
As the pair of digimon inside the gadget seemed to be taking a second to think, a brief moment of silence took place inside the closet.
"I guess you can at least... try to talk to it? Maybe you can find who is it waiting for." Viza noted.
Maybe it would be a good idea to stop referring to it as 'it', actually. If the Terriermon was still there, she would have been able to listen to the whole conversation between the human and his digivice, anyways.
Rei turned around after taking his hand away from the doorknob.
"You said you don't think it was me?" Wasn't this digimon even sure who it was waiting for? "Who do you think it might be? Do you..." The human took a good look at the creature. "... have a name?"

Was that it? Would the state of being left alone be so simple to truly attain? Inge continued to lounge within the closet as Rei closed the door and eventually uttered a simple Okay. She shrugged her shoulders in apparent silence, before she heard a voice that did not belong to the human.
And also sounded decidedly more...Mmmm. Like it lacked something. Perhaps not as lacking as anyone who'd say they're setting a trap for someone to their face. But still lacking in some regards. Sure enough, though, after some more conversation, they seemed to be coming back to the sacred place that was. The closet.
So, who did she think her human was? The Terriermon made a 'mmmmm' noise as if she were a feminine Bugs Bunny (TM) from the hit series Looney Tunes by Warner Bros. "Well, I think they might be way shorter. And look a bit creepy. I just know they're around here. I don't...think I have a name though. I should fix that..." She mused.
So, what would a good name be?
It took all of five seconds to decide this. "Inge. Call me that or I won't speak to you." Yes. This was how it was to be.

About the name that had only recently been decided, Boru seemed a bit shocked of the determination the Terriermon showed. “F-For a name they just picked they’re certainly committed to it…!”
“So you know how they look? Have you seen them before?” Why did it feel like Inge had come here to wait for this individual without having any type of pragmatic knowledge about them? Was that actually the case, maybe? The situation was overall too confusing, but it did not seem like Inge was willing to leave the closet without a path set on how to find this person. Which made things ultimately harder for a human that was too tired to deal with a fuss caused by this and too good to walk away and let it happen.
“At least they have some type of… clue?” Viza interjected again from the digivice. “I don’t think there’s any way of convincing them to go back home so… your best bet may be to actually find this human for them.”
And that…! … That required further investigation to be had here.
Rei let out a sigh, leaning his back against a wall inside of the small closet. “So… Inge. What else do you know about this… someone? Is it a human? A digimon?”
“How do you know they’re coming here to meet you? Did you plan this encounter?” Boru added.
“Have you thought about actively looking for them? Do you have a feeling or where they might be now?” Viza chipped in with her own input to the barrage of questions the group was throwing over the bunny.
“… Is it really a good idea to ask so many things at once?” Boru wondered in a whisper.
“It’s her fault for being so cryptic and weird!” Viza declared.

The name was hers. Now and forevermore. All who wised to oppose such would be met with little more than fury from the Terriermon. "Nope. I simply know that they look liked that." What had possessed Inge to come here was something that was unknown to her, yet she felt certain about it for some reason.
"Maybe a human. Maybe a Digimon. I dunno. I just came here to wait for them. Then I saw this closet and thought it looked cozy, so I'm here now. It's pretty cozy here, even if it feels like time moves slower when I'm lying here." She noted. "If I actively look for them I'm gonna cause a public outcry because I'm a weird bunny dog. Have you ever thought about not asking so many questions about my cryptic responses, lady?"
Meanwhile...A pale girl with raven-black hair would exit from a nearby classroom, exhaling. While it was not known what had caused one Rui Hazuki such distress, she was glad to have some space to herself for a little bit. She'd proceed down the hallway...and near the closet that Rei and co. were questioning someone in. Why? Water fountain.
Those were always the ideal way to cool off. Of couuuurse, she caught sight of a student like her peering into a closet and talking to something.
"Anyways, I don't know a thing. So could you please leave me alon-" Inge was in the midst of telling Rei to buzz off once more before she took a pause. Because Rui was peering right at her, poking her head out from an otherwise obscure point of view. If that even made sense.
"...What is that?" She'd inquire. Who had an answer?

Without looking too fretted, Rei let out a sigh at Inge’s answer. “That is wildly unspecific.”
“Time moves extremely slow when speaking to you, yes.” Viza admitted from the digivice. “And you got me asking all of the questions because you make no sense whatsoever!”
At the time, Rei couldn’t imagine all of these multiple voices coming from a single closet could attract attention to it, although it was quite obvious it would.
“If you were too worried about causing a public outcry to begin with you wouldn’t have come to this world to perform such a vague search like the one you’re telling us.” Although it was unusual for Rei to be this frontal, those words were actually more honest than anything else. No bad intentions behind them whatsoever.
Not that a lot more of this exchange could be had before someone peeking into the closet, having the door slightly opened to fit their head in, interrupted them. As the soft voice asked ‘what was that’ in a straightforward manner, silence engulfed the room.
While one could have imagined it was a matter of time before someone would come in asking questions, with four different voices speaking from a closet in the middle of the library (conveniently located in front of the water fountain™️), Rei had no answer prepared.
So…? He just remained quiet. For at least… 2 full minutes. While he thought of something. After that?
“This is a dream. Clearly.”
Was that the best he could think of in all of that time!? Apparently, it was.
So… yeah. No one had an answer. At least not a good one.

"It may be unspecific. But it's all I have. So take it or leave it." Inge nodded. "But also, you're not making sense either...is that just a cat thing? Or a you thing? Hmmmmm..." The lazy Terriermon scratched at the top of her head in a pensive manner, drawing upon centuries upon centuries of knowledge...
...
Wait.
She didn't have that. Shit. Despite that, Rui was still staring at everyone gathered, even when she was quite plainly told that this was, in fact a dream. "No. I woke up this morning, so it wasn't a dream, stupid." The girl stated with some impatience in her tone.
Her question was not answered, so she'd just...shove past whoever she needed to just to scoop Inge off the shelf. "Ah! Don't throw me!" The Terriermon squeaked! "What? No. I wasn't going to do that and they certainly don't seem like they're answering anything. Who are you? What are you?"
"Uh. I'm Slappy." Inge squeaked out. "...I doubt that." Rui huffed before she turned to Rei and co., Inge now held in her arms like some kind of stuffed animal. "Tell me, what is this thing? ...And why is it so warm to hold?"

“S-Stupid…”
Viza snorted with laughter from the digivice upon hearing this random human enter and just call Rei stupid. Rei, on his side, tried to cough over the sound of her laughter just to avoid Rui thinking there were more voices coming from somewhere in this room! For some reason, the tamer felt the girl actually thought he was dumb for believing this was a dream. Not that he was trying to fool her. So naïve and yet so… unfretted by it.
“Maybe you dreamt you woke up this morning.” Rei folded his arms, looking a bit defiant. Was he really going to keep up with this crap? It didn’t matter a lot, Rui had gone past him and went to hold the Terriermon on the shelf! “W-Wait…”
“Slappy?” Where did that name come from? WHAT WAS GOING ON? This was probably the most confused Boru had been ever. And we’re talking about a digimon that could get confused and forget what he was doing mid-combat. “Didn’t you just decide your name was Inge?” Rei noted. Had she forgotten about that!?
“H-How can you doubt that.” Rei quirked an eyebrow now addressing Rui. “I would assume it is warm to hold because it’s alive. But, then again, this is your dream, so I wouldn’t know.” Apparently, the brown-haired guy was ready to play the long game. “It told you their name was Slappy, but you didn’t believe them. I have no idea what it is. Both Slappy and I were created by your brain, you know? That's how dreams work.”
A pause.
"... Right?"

"No, I usually pinch myself when I wake up. That's how I know." Rui clarified. She looked a little indignant at the insistence that this was a dream. This creature here was most certainly real, so why should anyone try saying that it was otherwise at all? And what were those other voices?
This was irritating now. "Okay. Fine. My name is Inge. I'm a Terriermon. That guy's stupid. I was trying to be incognito. If that's what you humans even call that...Also. And I think I really, really, really have to emphasize this, because once again, that guy is stupid--This isn't a dream."
There was a long pause, and a stare of judgmental silence from Rui.
"Also. I'm hungry."
Rui huffed. "Well, too bad, I haven't gotten lunch yet."
"...Awww. I seem to be being held hostage." Inge decided. Which prompted Rui to quirk an eyebrow. "I'm not demanding anything. I just want to know what the heck's...going on?"
"Well, I was waiting? And then that stupid showed up. And then you also showed up. I guess I was waiting for you...?" Inge swiftly posited.
...
Poor Rui looked way too confused at that notion. And even if Rei was probably confirmed to be duplicitous, she would still look to him for clarification towards if anything Inge had just said was actually correct or not.
