Bezil the Gumdramon was pretty delighted that Justice was now part of the family. Not only did it mean that he could spend lots more time with Gummy when they visited Ys, it also meant that he learned much more about humans than he normally would.
Of course, Bezil would give Justice space when he visited, given how much he had gone through and he didn't want to pester his foster-brother if he didn't want the attention. But he went out of his way to be nice to him nonetheless.
Bezil also found that he quite liked Gummy's brother Vee. The furred Gumdramon was delighted to see that the brothers were indeed different - about as similar as he was to Matty and Jimmy. But of course, Bezil liked Gummy much more. There was something in his proud, competitive nature that he had been attracted to in the first place. In fact Jimmy remarked that it was strange for a boy-scout like Bezil to fall for a bad boy like Gummy, but, eh, it was something he just couldn't explain.
And also of course, Justice had his own life to lead outside of Ys, and that was fine. Bezil made sure to be kept busy in the time they weren't there, whether it was doing KIZNA work, or looking after his younger siblings, or spending time with his parents and grandpa. And if there wasn't anything to do, he'd train hard. His efforts had so far granted him the ability to permanently retain his Adult level form. But, after a while, he began to grow frustrated that he simply couldn't overcome whatever barrier was there that prevented him from attaining Ultimate level.
He had asked anyone he could who had experience of this sort of thing. From his own parents, well, they weren't very helpful. Hikaru evolved via his partner's digivice, while Owen had evolved in the face of crisis. Since Bezil neither had a human partner nor wanted to cause a crisis to allow him to evolve, he sought help from other sources. Few others in KIZNA could help because most of them were human-partner duos, or hadn't been able to break through themselves. And this disappointed Bezil since he wanted to help out Gummy by being able to help him reach Ultimate level too. However, there was one source that seemed positive.
"Don't worry, Bezil, I'll find out something that'll help ya." Bixby the Gomamon promised. Bixby was a mercenary of fellow KIZNA members Nik and Brad, and seemed to be quite the avid researcher. Bezil often helped him out with his projects, given that as a Gomamon, Bixby did have limitations to his own dexterity when it came to experiments. Plus he seemed to be quite interesting, having been part of the old "DWR", which Bezil's father and grandfather had been a part of in a previous life.
And so one day, when Justice was visiting Ys along with Vee and Gummy, Bixby approached Bezil in the town square of the ancient city in his hover-pod, calling out for his attention. Bezil looked up.
"Heya, Bixby, what's up?" he asked.
"Heya, Bezil. Could you see me in my lab? I've got something to tell you" the Gomamon asked in return. Bezil raised an eyebrow, but supposed it was fine, and Bixby led him to his research lab, currently filled with sealed and labelled samples of crystals from the Shining Sea and elsewhere.
"So, ah, I've just been in communication with an archaeology acquaintance on Tamernet." Bixby began. "He told me that he was out at an excavation site in the Folder Desert when a few badly wounded digimon found them, asking for help."
"Oh, god, are they okay?!" Bezil asked, horrified.
"They are. Shamamon had a few healing potions brewed up in advance just in case the team got into trouble and they were fixed up fine, but, the digimon say that they were attacked by some horrible digimon out there. Digimon that really hate humans, and they're trying to recruit others to their cause."
"I see..." Bezil said, frowning. "But... why are you telling me this?"
"Well, ordinarily I'd tell one of your parents, but, you've asked me to keep a lookout for things like this, right? So I thought I'd just throw you a bone and let you know first." Bixby reasoned. "Besides, Owen's about to head to Rosewood for his teaching and Hikaru's in the human world. The sooner this can be sorted out, the better, before they can get gather more supporters."
This was good enough for Bezil. But then his more cautious side had to speak up. "And... you think I can handle them?"
"Well, the three wounded digimon were all rookies, and you're in your champion level, right?" Bixby said, slowly. "Plus you can fly, so you could scout them out first. But you'd be better off if you brought someone with you. Maybe you could ask Nik and Brad?"
"Hmm..." Bezil pondered this, but shook his head. "Probably not. No offense, but if I take them along, we'd have to go by Trailmon to Rustport first. Hey, maybe I could bring Gummy, Justice and Vee along? Gummy can evolve to Arresterdramon and fly, I think?"
"Okay, well if you trust 'em, that's fine by me." Bixby said. "Anyways, let's keep this between ourselves for the time being, okay? Probably better in the long run if we can take 'em out discreetly rather than mount a full campaign against them."
Bezil nodded, then left to find the trio. Excitement pulsed through him. This might be their chance to be useful for the peace and harmony of the digital world.
When he found them, Bezil would wave and call out to them, eager to share the news.

When the weather changed drastically, allowing some small respite from the blazing heat, Justice enjoyed it. Heat made people snappy and irritable; this cooler weather, still with the bright clear sky, was the ideal temperature for him since it was more accommodating. That meant that he was able to chill better outside because of the lower temperature, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.
This particular day Justice was chilling at the City of Y’s: his second home. It was two thirty - Justice’s nap time. He was resting on a hammock a short distance away from a nearby walkway, shaded underneath two trees in-between. His eyes were lazily opened, watching the leaves sway against the wind while eating some sea salt ice cream, a ritual that his uncle started with him when he was young. The only family member that Justice felt truly happy being with before he died.
It has been a month since he was welcomed to be a part of Owen’s family. Every now and then whenever he wasn’t busy with either school or his job at AEGIS, he and his twin Digimon partners, Vee and Gummy, would visit whenever he had some free time in the human world. He was surprised with how easily Owen’s family—the ones he’s seen so far—accepted him as a foster brother, particularly Owen’s twins, Matty and Jimmy, and Owen’s other son, Bezil: Gummy’s boyfriend. It was...strange for a lack of a better word, being adopted in a family full of Digimon, where everyone was physically different, but still related to by data. And with being the only human, made out of flesh and bones, he found himself silently contemplating himself whether he truly belonged in this family.
He knew that Owen and his children cared about— a great deal in fact. But still, there was this feeling of the Gaomon simply taking him in out of pity. The more time he spent with them, the more the skepticism grew. Because of this, Justice would sometimes politely seclude himself whenever the rest of Owen’s family all came over, not knowing what they'd think of him. He wanted to get to know the rest of them, but the underlying second thoughts would always persist.
Meanwhile, not too far away from their tamer, Vee and Gummy were sparring in the grassy outcrop, far enough so that it wouldn't disturb anyone.
“Fire Vortex!” Gummy landed his attack, enveloping himself in blue flames and dashing towards Vee, knocking him back a few good feet. But before Vee could even counter, he found himself ensnared by Gummy’s tail as he wrapped around him. “Ha! Got you!”
Vee gave a slyful smirk. Seeing that his arm is the only thing that was free, he grabbed Gummy’s tail, yanking him towards him.
“Vee Headbutt!” he yelled, striking Gummy straight in the forehead with his. Gummy yelped, grabbing his head in pain. “Now who’s got who now?" Vee repeated, giving a bashful smile.
The Gumdramon glared at his brother. Getting up, his body became engulfed in a blue light, his form growing in size, digivolving into a tall, bipedal dragon with red rubbery armor over his torso and wings, orange glove and boots, black leather waders with armor plating, as well as his tail turning into a tail anchor: Arresterdramon.
“Hey! We made a deal! No going Champion form!” Vee shouted. “Though if you’re gonna bend the rules like that…” The Veemon became surrounded by a soft orange light, his form giving away and reconfiguring itself into a tall, muscular blue dragon with a horn on his nose and “X” pattern on his chest along silver wings. “I guess I’ll bend them, too.”
“Hmph!” Gummy sneered, tilting his head up in a proud manner. “Do as you wish. But just know that I’ll come up on top.”
“You wish!”
Flapping their wings, the two flew up into the air, trading blows in a flurry of punches and kicks. Down below, the light from Justice’s D-Watch would shimmer down as the two’s digivolution was complete. Looking at it, he sighed. “Those two love competing against each other now, don’t they?”
Justice then turned to see his now foster-brother Bezil waving at him. He got up from his hammock and went to him.
“What’s good, Bezil?” Justice asked, extending his fist out to him. “Don’t mind them up there. This is what happens when they get too competitive with one another.”

Bezil was well aware of Vee and Gummy's sparring match above as he approached Justice. He cursed the fact that he had come bringing news, if he was otherwise free, he'd eagerly keep his promise to one day spar with them and join in, able to test both his own aerial combat skills and see how well the twins did against a small target like him in the champion form. But Bixby's news was urgent, so he had to relay that first.
"G'day, Justice!" Bezil replied cheerfully. "Heh, it's fine. I've had plenty of rough'n'tumble matches with my brothers and sisters too, I get how it is."
Bezil approached Justice's hammock and assumed a somewhat serious expression. "So, uh, I'll just get straight to the point. I just heard some news from a friend... something that probably concerns the both of us, me as a member of KIZNA, you of AEGIS. Digimon with a vendetta against humans have shown up in the Folder Desert, so I'm told. They've already attacked and injured 3 innocent rookie levels, so they're a danger to the area. And I was wondering if you, Vee and Gummy might be able to help me out in scouting out what they're about? Given that your partners can fly too and all."
Bezil wished he could have gone about this conversation a bit more naturally, but Bixby had emphasized the urgency of this mission, as well as keeping it discreet. And come to think of it, now that he said it, the fact that Justice and his partners were in AEGIS rather than KIZNA would help out rather a lot in keeping this as a somewhat freelance mission. He knew his parents might not approve of taking a risk like this, but, Bixby had a point. If they mount a campaign against them, that'd just give them time to rally others to be brought into this mess. They had to be taken out quickly, and Bezil thought a quick flying strike team would hopefully do the trick. If not, they could at least scout out the enemy numbers and positions and provide intelligence for a stronger team later.
"So, what do you think?" Bezil asked, eager to know the answer.

Justice was glad that Bezil was cool with Vee and Gummy duking it out up there. Even though they were brothers, those two always like to compete in everything: fighting, exercising, eating contest, you name it. It really shows how much they enjoy competing against one another, but sometimes it can get a little bit carried away to the point where he’ll have to step in to calm them down. He didn’t know if either Vee was in the lead, or Gummy. They competed so much that he honestly lost track.
Bezil went straight to the point and explained of a situation that unfolded in a place called Folder Desert. Apparently, Digimon with a vendetta against humans attacked the area and injured three Digimon. Hearing this, Justice deduced that the Digimon in question were probably Champion level or above. But what was their goal in attacking innocent Digimon? To draw out Tamers so they could eliminate them? If that was the case, they’ll be walking right into a trap, but better them than someone else.
“Sure, I’ll help you out.” Justice answered. “Believe it or not, we dealt with another group of Digimon that tried to shut down the Trailmon Terminal in Terminus City because they wanted to stop humans from coming here. I wonder if those two groups are connected somehow. But yeah, let’s see what they’re about, then hit and run before any officials notices. As an AEGIS agent, I ain’t allow to get involved in the affairs of the Digital World unless stated otherwise... but given that’s a stupid-ass rule, I’ve opted to ignore it.”
Justice turned around, whistling, grabbing Vee and Gummy’s attention just before they were about to hit each other with their signature attacks. “Yo! We bouta fight some bad guys in Folder Desert. You two gamed?”
“Hell yeah, we are!” The two said, landing right next to them. Gummy’s green eyes gleamed in excitement seeing Bezil. He then noticed for the first time instead of looking up to him, literally, he was looking down to him since he was bigger than him.
“Bezil! Glad to see you, dude!” he said, offering a fistbump. “Ahh, I just realize that this is the first time you’ve seen me in my Champion form. Pretty cool, huh? Or should I say...pretty dashingly?”

Bezil's yellow eyes widened with realization from Justice's words. "Wow, that was you guys?" he asked, impressed. "Well then! Glad the right guys for the moment happen to be here. I didn't hear much about the details of AEGIS saving Terminus station that day, but, knowing it was you guys that helped stop it, I feel that much more confident in that if we team up we may be able to stop 'em."
Bezil chose not to comment on Justice saying he'll ignore AEGIS's rules, mainly because technically he was tapdancing on the line that was the boundaries of KIZNA's rules thus far. But he remained steadfast in their mission as long as it aligned with their values. KIZNA wanted harmony between digimon and humans, and these digimon in the desert threatened that. Therefore, Bezil thought of the monsters in the Folder Desert as the enemy for now.
Justice called his partners down for landing. Bezil then looked up at Gummy, realizing it was the first time he had seen him in his Arresterdramon form. His first thoughts were wow, was he impressive. But the longer he looked at him, the more familiar details he recognized. Eventually it got to the point that Bezil found Gummy in his Arresterdramon very handsome and cute.
"Heh, you look awesome, Gummy!" Bezil replied, returning the fistbump. He then grinned. "Even though you've evolved and changed so much, there's so much about you that I still recognize, and, I really like that." he finished, unable to think of what else to say.
After a few moments of recovery, Bezil turned to the trio. "Okay then, so, how should we head to the desert?" he asked. "I can fly, but I can't carry more than a rookie digimon. You guys look like you can handle the trip, so, do you have any preferences on how we should go about this?" he turned to Vee and Gummy.

Justice raised a brow as he put a hand on his hip. The reason why Bezil didn’t hear about AEGIS’s involvement with that attempted terrorist attack at Trailmon Terminal is because of their operational pack with the Digital World. Agents are only allowed to operate on Earth, not in the Digital World unless said otherwise. That’s how the old DATS fell apart, trying to maintain both law and order in both worlds from what he had heard from Sophie. But if what Bezil’s friend said was true, it was best to keep this thing underwraps, especially from both of their respective organizations--a solo ops if one would define it.
In response to Bezil’s comments, Gummy couldn’t help but puff his chest in pride, internally gushing over his smile. “Heh! You know it! What is it about me that you still recognize? My dashing good looks? My cool, clever charm?”
“How ‘bout your ever-growing ego?” Vee commented, rolling his eyes
The Arresterdramon frowned; he did not appreciate the snarky comment.
Bezil then asks how they should go about traveling to Folder Desert. Vee and Gummy glanced at each other for a moment before turning back to the furred Gumdramon. “Well that’s simple: I’ll just carry Justice since he’s the only one of us that can’t fly. And if you want to Bezil, you can hitch a ride with Gummy. I’m pretty sure he’ll looooooove that,” he said, teasing his brother.
“Why you..!” Gummy yelped, his face turning red.
“Alright, that’s enough from the peanut gallery.” Justice sighed, getting in between the two Champions. “It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to go from here to there where the cards are right in front of us.” He turned to Bezil. “But yeah, I’ll ride on Vee, and you two do whatever that fits you.”

Bezil grinned as Gummy challenged him to say exactly what it was about his evolved form that he could recognize. "Well, it's your mannerisms for a start, you move your tail the same way you do as Gumdramon." he began. "And the way you flick your wings too. And..." he looked over Gummy's form for a little while more to try and pick up more clues, but all he did was grow somewhat infatuated with him, so he said little more, his blush visible through the white fur on his cheeks.
When it came to discuss their flying arrangements, Vee suggested that he fly Justice, while Gummy flew Bezil. While Vee's teasing seemed to anger Gummy, Bezil chose to try and defuse it by agreeing wholeheartedly.
"Yeah! That sounds perfect! I'd love to ride there with my wonderful boyfriend!" he announced, proudly. "Gummy looks so big and strong in his champion form, I just don't think I'd make it myself. So this arrangement sounds great!"
Bezil meant this in truth. He had never flown very far in his own Champion form. While he supposed he could increase his range with endurance training, that simply hadn't been able to happen yet. And, the idea of flying with Gummy was a pretty romantic idea for him. So yeah, he wanted that to be the option.
"I'm ready when you are, pal~" Bezil said affectionately to Gummy. Thus, when they were ready, their destination would be the Folder Desert, to find out exactly what this cabal of human-hating digimon were up to.

Vee’s red eyes widened from Bezil’s response. At first he thought the Gumdramon would get flustered up like Gummy, flaring up at him. But to his, and Gummy’s surprise, he agreed that arrangement was a good idea. He simply smiled. “Alright then. I won’t tease you two any further,” he replied. He looked over to his brother and gave him a pat on the shoulder. The difference between the two were night and day, but seeing Bezil’s proud declaration, his posture especially, he couldn’t help but see a little bit of his brother in him.
That just meant that Bezil was the right choice for him.
Seeing Bezil ready to go, Gummy gently picked him up so he could jump on his back. He couldn’t help but get fluster; his purple armor-scales turning red.“Thank you, Bezi Bez.” Gummy whispered, affectionately. "For that, once we find find those bad guys, I can show you what these muscles can really do~" Internally, he thanked Vee as well for suggesting this arrangement, but he’ll never hear him say it. His tough attitude wouldn’t allow it.
Vee meanwhile crotched down, allowing Justice to climb up on him, sitting on his shoulder. “Alright, you guys ready?” he announced. “Before we take off, fasten your imaginary seat belts and make sure all of your imaginary luggage is stowed underneath the seat. Because in the event if I accidentally fall off, please save my dumbass as fast as you can.” He chucked, seemingly passing off as a flight attendant on a commercial airline.
After that, they would take off into the skies, leaving the City of Y's. Next stop: Folder Desert!

Bezil gave a thankful smile at Vee for saying that. He didn't want Gummy to be angered any further by his teasing. So he then accepted Gummy's help in getting up on his back, Bezil making himself comfortable, resting his legs over his shoulders and holding on around his neck - taking care not to hold on too tightly. Bezil made sure his own wings were folded neatly so he wouldn't have them unfurl once the wind hit him.
He heard Gummy's whispers, and grinned as he made his reply. "I can't wait to see you in action." he said, speaking quietly since he was close to his head anyway.
Bezil chuckled at Justice's words, even if he had never been on a human airplane, he was aware that professional humans were overly focused on safety measures, and recognized it from his speech. "That's okay. We've got you covered!" he called.
Then, they were off. Bezil was initially surprised by the strength of the wind in his face when Gummy took flight, but he eventually got used to it. Feeling Gummy's body underneath him fully committing to the flight, wow, this was some strong flying here. Bezil had flown this way before, riding his father's back as Owen's MachGaogamon form had travelled the digital world before, it was a different experience altogether riding someone with wings.
It was somewhat difficult to make small-talk in the air, what with the wind as it was. So Bezil simply appreciated being this close to Gummy, off to settle a serious situation. In fact he didn't feel the need to say anything at all, just the fact that they were doing something significant together was enough for him.
However, after a while, he did feel the need to say something. He tried to speak once, but the wind was so strong that smalltalk wasn't really possible up here. Eventually, he spotted something that was an excuse to shout though. "Ah, there! That's the excavation site that Bixby told me about!" he called, pointing down to a campsite in the Folder Desert, with many holes and such dug around some kind of ancient ruin. That was their destination for the moment, so they could be more closely briefed about the trouble ahead.
As they closed in to land, several digimon looked up. Much of them were hardy Rookie levels - Goblimon, Guilmon, Dracomon, Agumon. It seemed the digimon in charge was a Shamamon though, who waved up at them as they neared, clearly glad to see them.

Justice held on to Vee’s neck tightly as they took off, the wind practically hitting his face like a freight train. Once he got used to it, he would lessen his hold, getting into a more comfortable position on his shoulder. Usually the wind wouldn’t be this strong since they would usually fly at their own leisure, but they had to pick up the pace. But still, he would always feel a sense of invigoration when taking to the skies. It often reminded him how small they were compared to the vastness of the universe.
He looked forward to where Gummy and Bezil were, which they were not too far apart from them. He wanted to make small talk with the Gumdramon, wanted to make some small banter with him before they tackle this serious situation. But hearing the wind continuously pounding in his ears, plus knowing how comfortable he was with Gummy, he decided against it, wanting to focus on the task at hand.
As they continued their travel, the winds began to die down, the geography below shifting from the mountainous, colder region of the Northern Prominence, to the calmer, more arid and batten landscape of the Western Flatlands. The land was spotted with cliff sides, sand dunes, and sparse vegetation. Justice had never been in a desert before so this was an entirely new experience.
“Hey, you doing ok?” Vee asked Justice, shifting his gaze to the human. Knowing his Tamer had been more quiet lately, even though he always jokes, he had to make sure if he was alright up there in his mental headspace.
“I’m fine.” Justice responded, looking at the ground below them.
“So, whaddya think of Bezil so far? Like, as your foster- brother?” Vee clarified. “Knowing you, it must be...off having a Digimon as your brother. In fact, I think you’re the first ever human to be adopted into a Digimon family—no paperwork or nothin’.
“It’s...unique to say the least.” Justice said. “I know that I’m in a better place now compared to being with my mom, but I can’t help but question if I—”
Bezil interrupted him, saying that they’ve arrived at their destination: an excavation site from the looks of it, with several Digimon down below. One of them, goblin-like Digimon, waved at them, expecting them. Vee and Gummy found a clear spot near them and landed, opting Justice to now hop off and approach the Shamanmon.
“Hey there.” Justice said in a gentle voice. “I’m Justice. These are my partners Vee and Gummy, and the furry Gumdramon’s is my brot—” He paused, glancing at Bezil for a second before correcting himself. “He’s Bezil. We got your message and were here to help.”

After they landed, Bezil couldn't help but notice that Justice hesitated in calling him his brother. Even though Owen had accepted him as part of the family, and it seemed that was an accurate family title for him, well, the Gumdramon understood that it might not yet be comfortable in stating it. Bezil and Justice barely knew each other after all. While Bezil did want to know him sometime, an opportunity hadn't yet arisen. After all, he was very much enjoying his time with Gummy whenever they were in Ys. Hm, maybe next time he should try and rectify that?
Shamamon meanwhile gave a grateful nod at Justice's introduction. "Great to know my old pal Bixby could muster up a good squad. A human and three champion levels, that should do the trick."
Shamamon would then get right to the point. "The fact of the matter is this. We're just humble excavators from Rustport. We don't want to stick our noses in with whatever conflict is going on in the digital world, but, friends are friends, and those bastards attacked ours, and we won't be safe out here until they're dealt with."
He gave a nod to three digimon that looked like they had been shaken. An Armadillomon, a Muchomon and a Monodramon. While none of them had any physical wounds evident on them, they still looked like they had suffered a terrible trauma recently.
"My team know these three, and that they would never bring trouble to anyone, yet they hurt them regardless." Shamamon said, scowling. "When they came crawling back here, we gave them healing potions to heal their physical wounds, but, I think it's clear that their mental wounds have yet to close. We haven't pried at them yet because we don't wanna cause them any further harm, but, if you promise to be gentle, maybe you can get some information from them about what exactly hurt them?"
Bezil nodded with understanding. "Okay, so you think questions from impartial strangers might be more effective?"
"That's the idea, yeah." Shamamon said, sighing. "I've known Armadillomon since the Village of Beginnings, but if I even get close to asking about the attack he bursts into tears, and, I just can't handle hurting him that way myself."
Bezil glanced with worry at Justice, Vee and Gummy. It seemed that whatever had attacked these digimon could damage the mind as well as the body. They would probably need to ask some careful questions to prepare themselves.
"Well, okay, if we're all fine with this, I'm down for asking them questions." Bezil said.

Seeing that they’ve reached their destination, Vee and Gummy decided to devolve back into their Rookie forms. Unlike Bezil, they weren’t used to being in their Champion forms for extended periods of time. There was really no reason to train on their endurance level since the only time they digivolved was for combat and sparring (and in Vee’s case being the flight express for all three of them). Besides, they flew from the City of Y’s to a Folder Desert, which was an hour or two away from each other, so they rather not expend any more energy than they should.
The three listened to Shamamon. He explained they're just excavators from Rustport doing their jobs before their friends were attacked without warning. They looked over to the three Digimon that survived the assault, all of them shaken and bandaged up. Justice’s expression changed to a look of concern. Even though they were all packed up, just looking at them told him that they’ve been through a great ordeal, especially the Armadillomon. Getting answers from them was not going to be an easy task.
Justice looked to Bezil, nodding in agreement. “Yeah, let's do it.” He turned back to Shamamon. “If it’s alright with you, may we talk to your friend, Armadillomon? I promise you we’ll be the utmost careful with him.”
“Yeah. Even though he’s the most hurt one, we have to start somewhere.” Vee said.
Gummy remained silent. He wasn’t good at these kinds of things in fear he’ll say something wrong or rude accidentally. So it was best for him to allow Justice, Vee, and Bezil to lead, and go from there.
If Shamamon agreed. Justice would approach Armadillomon first, slowly, before taking a seat next to him in the sand, looking off to the distance. Honestly he didn’t know where to start; he never dealt with a situation like this before. But he remembered how Owen approached him in their talk, to not pry at the problem initially, and instead, allowing him to slowly talk about what happened. And so, he took out his Infini-Stone, taking out a cooler.
“Hey there,” he began, pulling out wrapped sea salt ice cream. “Want one? It’s sea-salt ice cream. It’s salty, but sweet.” He hoped that this gesture was enough to get a response from the Armadillo Digimon, to make him somewhat comfortable. He didn't mind if the other two Digimon involved in the attack got something out of his cooler as well. That’s the best thing a person should do when confronting someone with trauma: to make them feel safe.

Shamamon was delighted that they agreed to try and talk to them. "Thanks so much. I admit I don't really know what to do when my friends cry like this... so I hope you guys can do better than I can."
Bezil felt the need to praise him for admitting this. "Mate, that's a big thing to say. It takes a true friend to admit to something like this, seeking help for your friends like this."
Shamamon made an aloof noise and turned around. "Well then, guess it's up to you now." he said, wiping his face when he hoped they weren't looking.
Bezil then watched as Justice walked up to Armadillomon, gently. The mammal digimon watched him for a moment, then seemed to relax as he realized he meant no harm. Bezil held back, not wanting to crowd them. And decided to let Justice take the lead here for now.
Armadillomon looked curiously at Justice when he offered some sea salt ice cream. Then when he was sure it was safe, he accepted it. "T-thanks..." he said, taking the stick and licking the frozen treat. "D-do you have any more for my friends?" he added, nodding at Muchomon and Monodramon.
Bezil noted that Armadillomon was growing more steady and relaxed with this gesture. He didn't say anything more, leaving it to Justice to help these digimon recover enough to tell them of their trauma.

Justice softly smiled when Amradillomon accepted the ice cream. "Yeah, of course your friends can have some. In fact, everyone here can help themselves to whatever's in my cooler. Besides ice cream, I got juice, water, watermelon, anything y’all need to relieve yourselves from the heat. I can only imagine how unbearable it is working out here.”
Vee then opted to pass along whatever Muchomon and Monodramon needed from the cooler, with Gummy following suit. It was the least they could do, considering that they’ve made it through such a frightening and distressing event. Grabbing two of the sea salt ice creams from the cooler, Gummy approached Bezil, giving a smile.
“Want one, Bezil” he asked, handing him one. “We’re both Gumdramons, but I bet you’re feeling hotter than us since you have fur.”
After everything the Digimon needed was passed along, Vee went back to where Gummy and Bezil were, eating a slice of watermelon. It was best to let Justice handle this; they didn’t want to overwhelm them by crowding them after all.
Justice would wait a little bit as the three Digimon got comfortable, then he proceeded with the talk. “So...I heard that you and your two friends were attacked by some pretty nasty Digimon.” His voice was much softer, laced with concern over the Armadillomon. “I’m so sorry that you’ve been through that. My friends and I are here to make sure to bring whoever attacked you all will be brought to justice. And in order for us to do that, we need to know what went down.”
He knew that last sentence would be risky to say. In fact, he wouldn’t blame Armadillomon or the two other Digimon to take their strong feelings out on him. They have had a stressful and emotional experience and their reactions would be normal. “If you’re not ready to talk, I understand. But I’ll be here to listen to you whenever you’re ready."

With the general offerings of cool, sweet, hydrating food, the overall mood of the group was increased somewhat. Armadillomon, Muchomon and Monodramon greatly appreciated it, and the sadness was removed from their faces somewhat.
Bezil gladly accepted the ice cream from Gummy. "Heh, thanks. My fur doesn't make it too bad though, as long as I keep it clean, it kinda reflects sunlight off it so I don't get too overheated." He took a lick of the ice cream and enjoyed it immensely.
After everyone had taken a little while to enjoy their treats, they looked at Justice again as he brought up the subject of their attackers. While the three digimon did look uncomfortable, they were at least able to face the questions without breaking down now.
"You're gonna take them out, aren't you?" Armadillomon asked, finishing his ice cream with a serious expression. "In that case, alright, we'll tell you so that you can be prepared."
Monodramon and Muchomon also finished their treats, then braced themselves to tell of their ordeal.
"We were just heading here from Rustport, equipped with supplies for the excavation site here." Armadillomon began. "When around the Golden Rocks we were stopped by a Kyubimon and a Youkomon."
"The Golden Rocks are a bunch of yellow boulders around two thirds of the way here." Muchomon clarified.
"Yeah. They were getting all up in our faces, demanding who we were and what we were doing, we just told them that we're helping our friends at the excavation site here, and then they got even more angry... they demanded to know what secrets they were digging up and if we were working with the humans..." he paused as the fear returned to his face again. "I said that we were independent and we didn't know any humans, then they launched into a tirade about how humans are awful and all that crap... darn lies, now that I've actually met a human and he seems so nice." he smiled at Justice, then frowned a little in disappointment. "What happened next... it's a little fuzzy."
"I remember." Monodramon interjected. "They were joined by two more. They were... strange priest digimon wearing robes. They asked us if we liked or hated humans..."
"O-oh... yeah, that's it." Armadillomon said, trembling. "We said that we didn't have any problem with them... and that just made them mad... and... they used some mind magic or something like that... and..." tears ran from his eyes. "I've never felt that horrible in all my life. I felt like I was being invaded mentally... and they brought out all of these... horrible, terrible memories and feelings... things I thought I had forgotten or made peace with... they... ripped them out, raw."
"They did it to all of us." Muchomon added, trembling as well. "They only stopped when they realized we had no memory of meeting with a human, then they gave us a "punishment" for being on the wrong side, then... they claimed they were sparing us by dumping us out into the desert."
Bezil listened to this with an increasing expression of horror. "Those... bastards!" he seethed, so angry that he slammed his tail-hammer into the sand behind him.
"So, please... if you're going to face them, remember that they have that ability." Armadillomon pleaded. "And... human, please be careful. They hate your kind rather a lot." he added to Justice.
To Bezil, there was no question of what their actions would be. "Don't worry. We'll find them. And we'll crush them." he promised, sounding very fierce, his yellow eyes flashing with determination.
