"I still think we should've told them what was going on."
Silence.
"Not that I can't handle it, but I'm sure they'd want to help."
Still nothing.
"Sam."
The brunette stopped walking and looked down at Hawk the Hawkmon, her Digimon partner. "N-no..." she said quietly said before continuing on again.
Sam and Hawk had returned to Server Woods, the start of all the problems. Last time they were here, with Sam's boyfriend Desmond and his partner Demi, the group had been attacked by an IceDevimon. The icy Digimon kidnapped Sam and had transferred some of his own dark energy into the young adult and it had been slowly spreading throughout her body. It developed it's own conscience inside her and could now take complete control of her body when it so chose. The day before, it had given Sam the choice of saying her goodbyes and returning to the IceDevimon on her own free will, or it was going to force her. Sam had decided to go willingly and not to tell the others. Unfortunately, Hawk could tell something was going on and had pressed the topic until his tamer finally told her what was going on and her plans. She was going to try and sneak into the Digital World without the others knowing and hand herself over. That way, the others would be safe. Hawk finding out had caused a change into her original plan.
After the group returned from the Digital World the day before, Sam told Desmond that she was going to stay at home that night, rather then with him and Demi. She hurried home, found a backpack, and began whatever supplies she thought she would need when returning by herself. That was when Hawk found her and now here both were. The voice never really told her where to find IceDevimon, but Sam figured it would have to be around the woods somewhere. Luckily, there had been no sign of him yet and her other personality still remained quiet.
"I don't like this. Not one bit. We should've told them. With their help, we could've fought-"
"How?" Sam asked, stopping once again to face their Digimon. "We barely survived last time, and we had two fighting Digimon then. We don't have that now. You should've stayed home...." her voice trailed off as the last event replayed in her mind. Sometime after their encounter with IceDevimon, the group had been ambushed by two of the Digimon's followers. The battle had been tough, Demi ended up losing an arm. Desmond had to trade his Digivice for a Datamon to repair it. Now with the lose of the Digivice, Demi could no longer Digivolve. It was also when the voice had first made itself known.
Hawk followed his tamer from behind as the continued deeper and deeper into the woods. He had never seen Sam like this. He could tell she was scared, there was a hint of desperation in her voice when she told him he should've stayed home. If he was being honest, she had a point. They barely managed to fight off IceDevimon with himself and Demi in their champion forms. They barely survived a 2v2 battle with his lackeys. And now with Demi no longer able to digivolve, how was he going to protect Sam on his own?
As they walked further into the forest, Hawk was almost acting like he was searching for something. Since Sam was more focused on other stuff, she hadn't noticed. Hawk had actually contacted Desmond. While Sam was packing supplies, her Digimon had gotten his hands on her phone and sent the blonde a message. He had to do it in his holosuit form, texting with wings would've been very difficult. All Hawk was able to say was something was up and Sam had tried to go to the Digital World alone. He didn't know it was because of IceDevimon until Sam had her phone back. The bird Digimon hoped Desmond saw his message in time and wasn't too far behind them.
