Chaotic Evil Saves the Day! [For Glory]

Fragment Village, a destitute, gloomy place where all the outcasts and misfits of the Digital World had found refuge. Looking more like a dirty junkyard than a functional town, it was a miracle how its denizens managed to find a semblance of happiness in their miserable lives. Having a sense of familial unity with each other really went a long way!
That made it all the more repulsive that somebody would wish to disturb their peace and quiet…
“Are you sure your informer didn’t just give us a false lead?” Yuko asked her partner, who was currently a Dracmon. “What, just because my informer was a Phelesmon doesn’t immediately make him untrustworthy!” The vampiric Digimon replied. “It kinda does!” The girl retorted.
Said informer had tipped them that a notorious outlaw from the Dark Area was looking to invade Fragment Village and turn it into their personal hideout. The self-proclaimed Clown Prince of the Dark Area refused to let another villain upstage him… even if he had to play hero for a day!
Hence why, in addition to being in his Rookie form, Jokah was shrouded in a tattered cloak to further protect his identity. They didn’t wanna scare the poor locals, after all. It was only a temporary disguise, of course. They would likely be forced to reveal themselves at the first sign of actual trouble.

MetalPhantomon tightened his grip on his scythe as he entered Fragment village with his Bakemon minions. Fragment Village may have been little more than a ramshackle dump, but it would have to suffice as a hideout for the time being until he found somewhere more suitable to his tastes. "Go forth, my servants. Drive the rabble from this forsaken village so that we may convert it into our fortress. Cut down any who refuse to leave!"
The Bakemon started to laugh maniacally as they spread out to terrorize the town. They may not amount to much in a fight, but the cybernetic reaper would admit that the Bakemon certainly had a way with spreading terror despite their individual weakness. "Soon, this village will be torn apart and recast into a fortress worthy of my master's rule once he awakens. I will not allow anyone to stand in the way of his return!"

For a while, things had been quiet… Almost too quiet. The duo were about to give up and declare that their lead was indeed false, but then a host of floating ghouls arrived, led by a mechanical skeleton who looked like the Grim Reaper himself, if the Grim Reaper had been created by Skynet! Yuko winced, pulling her purple Digivice out of her pocket. “Yep, this looks like our guy! Are you ready, Jokah?”
“Dracmon, Warp Digivolve to…” The vampiric Digimon cast his identity-obscuring cloak aside, as a shadowy cocoon encased his diminutive form, growing quickly in size. Lo and behold, the poor villagers that were being terrorized by the Bakemon would witness the advent of an even more dreaded threat, as the shadows dispersed, revealing a demonic harlequin clad in a red tailcoat, baggy, green pants and pointy, yellow boots. “... Piedmon!”
“Digi-Memory! Vilemon Troop!” Yuko exclaimed, inserting a small computer chip into her Digivice. A bunch of ugly Vilemon materialized, noisily flying around the village and trying to round up the invading Bakemon. Amidst the chaos that ensued, the punkish-looking Tamer stood beside her fully-Digivolved partner, glaring defiantly at MetalPhantomon. “Tough luck, buddy! Looks like someone IS standing in your way! You may look kinda badass and I’d love to see your face on a heavy metal album, but we’re still gonna take you and your master down!” She declared.
A red-lipped smile crept beneath Piedmon’s black and white mask. “I, the Demon King of the Digital World, the Clown Prince of the Dark Area, couldn’t have said it better myself! The thought that a fellow being of darkness would serve a master different than I is preposterous, ludicrous even! Being the magnanimous despot that I am, I shall forgive such a transgression if you drop that scythe of yours to the ground and bow before me!” He smugly said, pointing a gnarled finger at MetalPhantomon.

MetalPhantomon was annoyed by the host of Vilemon that were getting in the way of his minions and moved to confront the source of this obstruction, a punk-looking human girl and a Piedmon. The cybernetic reaper growled at the two who dared to get in his way and tightened his grip on his scythe.
"Hmph, a human and a clown seek to stop me from preparing for my master's resurrection? This is bad comedy." The MetalPhantomon snarled at his opponents. "As for bowing to you, clown? I would rather rip out my own digicore and eat it before I would ever lower myself to serve a pathetic wretch like you! Soul Predator!"
The MetalPhantomon would then enlarge his scythe to three times its normal size before charging at the Piedmon with the intent to cleave the jester-like Digimon in two. In the background, the Bakemon would continues their battle against the Vilemon. Soul Predator: MetalPhantomon enlarges his scythe, then slashes the foe with it. 3 post CD. 0/3

Piedmon’s sinister eyes widened at the sight of the scythe being enlarged. Outstretching one arm, he pushed Yuko a safe distance away. However, in prioritizing the life of his Tamer, he didn’t get time to fully avoid the incoming attack, receiving a deep gash on his torso that leaked corrupted data for his efforts. “Whoa, Nellie, that stung!” The nightmarish clown let out an effeminate cry of pain. The teenage Tamer quickly regained her footing and winced in annoyance. “Oh, we’ll make you eat your Digicore out, alright!” She spat and spinned a card between her fingers, before swiping it against her D-Arc’s card scanner. “Digi-Modify! Regenerate!”Her partner’s wound began to heal, albeit at a slow pace. The evil jester’s pained grimace turned into a wide smile once again, as he kicked his feet against the ground and floated in the air. “Ahh, thank you, Yuko. I feel like a new mon! Now, allow me to prey on you in turn, my ghoulish friend… Mad Love!” He exclaimed, putting his hands together into a heart shape and shooting a large, holographic Hearts symbol towards the cybernetic reaper. “Ah yes, MetalPhantomon. I have met many of them in my many lives.” The self-proclaimed Demon King pondered to himself at the same time. “If my memory serves me right, your weakness should be…” Old Timer's Knowledge [Passive]: Upon meeting a new Digimon - except those of the "Unknown" family and beings that aren't really Digimon - he can figure out its Species, Attribute, Family and Type. Furthermore, if that Digimon belongs in the Nightmare Soldiers or Dark Area families, he can also figure out its weaknesses, if any.
Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Mad Love [Attack]: A floating Hearts symbol latches onto the opponent’s body, rapidly sapping their strength and using it to heal the user by a moderate amount. Has a 3 turn cooldown.

Oh, this clown was getting on MetalPhantomon's nerves. He was going to enjoy killing this stupid clown a lot more than he should. The look on the Piedmon's face when MetalPhantomon unleashed his Soul Predator attack definitely would've made the reaper smile if he was physically capable of it, though.
As he dodged the incoming Mad Love projectile, the reaper decided to taunt his opponents. "We've only just begun, and you're already using healing cards after a single hit? How pathetic. Clearly, you must not have much faith in yourselves. Let me show just how grave of an error you made in challenging me. Grave Scream!"
The cybernetic reaper unleashed a deafening howl towards the clown-like Piedmon. The magically-enhanced scream, so powerful that it made visible shockwaves from it's sheer power, would tear through nearly any defense the clown could try to put up. If it happened to deafen the human too? That'd just be icing on the cake. Grave Scream: MetalPhantomon emits a loud scream, damaging foes regardless of their defenses. The Clown Prince scoffed in response to his opponent’s taunting. “Bah, that didn’t count! I was expecting you to cower in fear, not attack me! Now that our battle is officially underway, I can set the stage properly… Masks Square!” He noisily clicked his fingers, causing a magical force field made up of abstract, smiling masks to enshroud the area. Though it soon turned invisible to the naked eye, its arcane energies palpably permeated the surroundings. Just in time for MetalPhantomon to unleash his destructive sound attack. Yuko yelped and ducked behind a narrow alleyway, covering her ears at the last second to avoid permanent deafness. “Damn it! If you’re gonna be loud, at least sing a death metal song I can vibe to!” She protested at the top of her voice. Fragment Village wasn’t exactly known for its sturdy infrastructure. Sure enough, the Grave Scream devastated everything in its path, but before it could reach Piedmon, the latter vanished from view, teleporting atop the rooftop of a decrepit building situated behind MetalPhantomon, whereupon he sat with one leg crossed over the other. “Speak for yourself, Yuko. I, for one, can most assuredly vibe to this wanton destruction! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!” The fiendish pierrot howled with a laughter so depraved and practically overflowing with bile and malice, it would probably make even Death himself flinch! Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Laughing Mad [Passive]: The user roars with diabolical laughter that has a strong mental effect on anyone who hears it, making them feel disoriented for 1 turn and increasing all of their active cooldowns by 1. Usable as a free action with a 3 turn cooldown.
Demon King's Charisma [Passive]: If the user was not hit by any attacks in the previous turn, reduce all of his cooldowns by 1. This ability itself is not affected by this, having a natural cooldown of 3 turns.
Masks Square [Attack]: Covers the surrounding area under a magical force field. The user can teleport himself or ranged attacks anywhere within the field, but doing so has an internal 2 turn cooldown. The field can last for up to 6 turns. Has an 8 turn cooldown. (1/6)

MetalPhantomon growled as the Piedmon teleported out of the way of the Grave Scream. He hated to admit it, but the insane clown's laugh actually managed to unnerve the reaper. This clown was surely turning out to be a stubborn pest. "Is that all you can do, clown? Run away like a pathetic coward? How can you hope to stop me if you don't have the guts to do so?"
MetalPhantomon briefly scanned the surrounding are before locking eyes with Yuko. Of course, a Tamer is always the weak spot for a partnered Digimon. "If you don't have the nerve to face me yourself, Clown Prince, then perhaps I shall take care of your little pet? You must be so fond of her, if you would willingly try to keep her out of the path of my scythe. Lost Soul!"
MealPhantomon would launch a screaming, flaming skull at Piedmon before charging towards Yuko in an attempt to grab her with his skeletal hand.

Something changed in the clown’s playful demeanor the moment MetalPhantomon threatened to harm Yuko. His previously smiling expression shifted into a twisted scowl. “Do you know who I am… bucko?” He sneered bitterly, his unusual cadence emanating genuine menace. No longer fooling around, the villainous jester produced four swords from behind his back, hurling them towards the incoming projectile. “Trump Sword!” He roared, jumping off the rooftop just as the flaming skull exploded in midair after being struck by the flying swords. In typical cool guy fashion, he did not look at the explosion. Yuko’s ears were still buzzing from the earlier destructive sound attack. Still, her eyesight was intact. When she saw the mechanical reaper coming at her, her blood froze from sheer shock. It was by pure miracle that she managed to hastily swipe another card in her mortified state. “B-B-Bota Bubble!” She cried out, causing a large bubble to materialize in front of her, keeping her momentarily safe from the Cyborg Digimon’s clutches. The delay, while brief, was enough for Piedmon to catch up, landing on the ground and wielding one of his signature swords in his hand. “We could have kept playing our delightful game of cat and mouse, and having some great laughs along the way, but you crossed the one line that should never be crossed! The Demon King’s pet is NOT to be trifled with!” The mad clown spat, charging towards MetalPhantomon and swiping his sword horizontally. Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Trump Sword [Attack]: Four swords sheathed into a magic box on his back. They can be wielded as weapons, as well as thrown as projectiles, skewering the opponent. The swords respawn on his back after being thrown.

If he was capable of smiling, MetalPhantomon would be grinning like a maniac as the Piedmon fell for his bait. He might not have grabbed the girl to use as a hostage, but the reaper could work with this. After all, an angry opponent can make a mistake that leaves them vulnerable. MetalPhantomon cackled as he blocked the sword with his scythe. "Excellent! So the fool has a spine after all! And an obvious weakness to exploit, too!"
While the Piedmon was so close to the reaper, MetalPhantomon decided to curse the jester from point-blank range by unleashing a Curse of Darkness towards Piedmon. If hit, the clown would find his own strength being temporarily sapped away by the curse. "You are not the only one with tricks up their sleeves, clown! And those infuriating cards won't protect your little pet forever! If I do not get her, my minions will once they finish off your pathetic Vilemon troop!

Yuko distanced herself from the cackling reaper. Visibly confused by his words, she tilted her head slightly to the side. “What the hell are you talking about? Jokah-kun is many things, but ‘dummy thicc’ is not one of them.” She said, while picking her own ear. “He said weakness, not thickness!” Her partner quickly corrected her, before locking eyes with his overconfident opponent. His red lips curved once again into a wide smile. “So far, the only one who’s gotten exploited is you, my heedless friend. Did you forget about my Masks Square already~?” Indeed, the displacement properties of Piedmon’s force field caused the flying ball of darkness to teleport behind MetalPhantomon, giving him a minuscule time window to react before he would get hit by his own attack. In that time window, the Demon Man Digimon jumped backwards, still facing his briefly distracted opponent, whom he pointed at. “Speaking of weaknesses, I haven’t neglected yours. I was simply waiting for the right moment. Ending Snipe!” A blast of concentrated magical energy shot out of his index finger, being aimed with precision at MetalPhantomon’s exposed core that was tucked between his metallic ribs. The MetalPhantomon was stunned by Yuko mishearing his words to the point that he almost missed Piedmon teleporting MetalPhantomon's attack right behind him. Unable to protect himself against his own curse attack and Piedmon's own Ending Snipe, the reaper actually deactivated his own levitation to drop like a stone right before the curse struck him, enabling the curse to continue past MetalPhantomon. Apparently, teleporting the attack further back without changing its trajectory at all would be an oversight on Piedmon's part, as the cursed ball was now once again heading straight towards him.
The Ending Snipe curved to continue heading towards MetalPhantomon's core, but the reaper used his cloak to protect his core from the attack. Once both attacks had run their course, MetalPhantomon rose back into the air and backed away to put some distance between him and the Piedmon. "I admit, I underestimated you, clown. It seems you have some skill after all." Protective Cloak: MetalPhantomon wraps his cloak around himself to protect him from a single attack. 2 post CD. 0/2

No matter how perilous the overall situation was, there was something accidentally comical about a fearsome-looking Digimon such as MetalPhantomon falling face-first on the dirty ground. “Pffft! He went down like a sack of potatoes!” Yuko stifled a giggle. Slapstick was a great source of stress relief for her. “This is how you decide to avoid getting hit by your own attack? And yet I’M the pathetic one? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Piedmon laughed unapologetically. If his obnoxious, anxiety-inducing guffaw hadn’t gotten grating already, it very soon would. Granted, he was in a precarious position himself, since the Curse of Darkness was now headed back towards him, but given that it wasn’t being fired from point-blank range this time, it was easier for the demonic jester to evade by jumping upwards and floating in the air once more. “The show must go on! Can’t lose our audience now that we’ve got her all giggly~” The airborne clown mused, playfully winking towards Yuko, before waving his arm in a flamboyant manner and summoning a roaring gust of wind. “Onward! Toy Wonderness!” A bunch of plush toys made in the likenesses of Monzaemon and WaruMonzaemon were swept up by the mighty winds, floating towards MetalPhantomon. Should one of those toys make contact with the reaper, the results would be quite… explosive. "I admit, it wasn't the most elegant solution but you cannot deny that it worked, no?" MetalPhantomon admitted. If he had to make a brief fool of himself to save his life, then the reaper could live with it for the moment since he was already planning on killing the two witnesses anyways. "Not like either of you will live long enough to tell anyone, anyways."
When Piedmon launched the wave of plush toys towards the metallic skeleton, MetalPhantomon backed up to keep his distance, before grabbing some rubble and throwing it at the incoming toys, causing a chain reaction of explosions as the rubble hit one of the toys. Before the smoke could clear, MetalPhantomon would throw his scythe at Piedmon, hoping to catch the clown by surprise as MetalPhantomon used the smoke to take cover behind a ramshackle building. Clearly, MetalPhantomon would have to outsmart his opponent to beat them.

Piedmon’s Tamer took cover behind a nearby pile of rubble. “Damn… I can’t see a thing through that stupid smoke.” She observed, squinting her eyes. Neither could the self-proclaimed Demon King, for that matter, yet the laser part of MetalPhantomon’s scythe glinting through the dusty cloud was all the warning he needed. “Where did you aim exactly? You can’t see a thing either!” He taunted his opponent, while hovering out of the scythe’s trajectory, pointing out the fact that the all-obscuring smoke was reciprocal. However, once the smoke had cleared to some degree, he realized that there was nobody for him to taunt, his opponent having mysteriously vanished. The Hellish Clown smiled imperceptibly. “Clever boy… Clown Trick.” He whispered under his breath. While the rest of the smoke started to clear, a bewildered Yuko scanned her surroundings. Her visage was partially obscured by shadows. “He’s… gone?” She muttered in confusion, before smiling widely. “He ran away! We won! We won!” She cheered in blissful ignorance. Having seemingly gotten out of her hiding spot, the human girl was standing out in the open, making herself an easy target should the enemy decide to attempt another ambush. Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.

Illusions can range from flashy, comedic effects to annoy them, or disguises and diversions to confuse them, however none of these tricks physically interact with the environment. Despite its variable nature, the intended effect is always to distract the opponent for a single turn. Has a 2 turn cooldown.
