In his hiding place, MetalPhantomon could only let out a soft groan at the human girl's apparent ignorance. The fact that his Bakemon minions were still fighting the Vilemons should have been proof enough that this battle wasn't quite over yet. The reaper would cautiously move out from behind his cover to point a metallic hand towards his scythe, summoning it back to his waiting grip through the power of electromagnetism.
He wasn't foolish enough to mindlessly charge towards the girl who had seemingly come out from a hiding spot, so he unleashed another Lost Soul towards the girl to test the waters, so to speak. Perhaps the screaming skull would also distract the clown long enough for the reaper to find a more advantageous position to wait for the Masks Square to dissipate. It seems that this battle would be a battle of attrition, with neither side able to do much damage to their opponent so far.
Lost Soul: Metal Phantomon launches a screaming, flaming skull at the foe from his cloak, which explodes on impact. 1 post CD. 0/1 Protective Cloak: 2/3 Curse of Darkness: 3/4 Grave Scream: 5/5 Metal Bones (passive): Increases defense by 30%.

The girl’s lips peeled, flashing an unnaturally big smile filled with teeth. As their visage was fully illuminated, a pair of sickly yellow, red-pupiled eyes became visible. “You buffoon! I can’t believe you fell for that!” The illusory disguise was broken, revealing that Piedmon had been posing as a fake Yuko to trick his opponent. “Trump Sword!” The Hellish Clown hurled his four signature swords towards the flaming skull. He then used the last teleportation granted to him by his fading Masks Square in order to close in the distance between him and MetalPhantomon, pinpointing his location by following Lost Soul’s trajectory back to its source. At the same time, the real Yuko peeked out from behind her hiding place, swiping another card through her D-Arc. “Digi-Modify! V-Saber!”A shiny, high-tech bracelet manifested around Piedmon’s right wrist, a beam of emerald light extending out of it like a sword. “En garde!” The demonic jester shouted, thrusting his verdant blade towards the cybernetic reaper’s torso. A Royal Knight’s weapon should be powerful enough to cleave through even his tough, metallic armor. Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Trump Sword [Attack]: Four swords sheathed into a magic box on his back. They can be wielded as weapons, as well as thrown as projectiles, skewering the opponent. The swords respawn on his back after being thrown.
Masks Square [Attack]: Covers the surrounding area under a magical force field. The user can teleport himself or ranged attacks anywhere within the field, but doing so has an internal 2 turn cooldown. The field can last for up to 6 turns. Has an 8 turn cooldown. (6/6)

It would seem that MetalPhantomon was wise to not charge towards what appeared to be Yuko, as it turned out to be Piedmon in disguise. The reaper had to admit, that it was actually a pretty good trick, though he wouldn't say that out loud. The clown's swords and the Lost Soul ended up canceling each other out but allowed Piedmon to figure out MetalPhantomon's location. "There is a difference between testing for a trap and falling for it. Why do you think I merely sent a disposable Lost Soul rather than a stronger attack?"
When Piedmon teleported in front of him, MetalPhantomon had little time to react to the V-Saber that Tamer's card had granted the clown. He was able to angle his body to save his core from being pierced, but the verdant blade still managed to stab into his ribs, causing the reaper to grunt in pain. MetalPhantomon would then drop his scythe in order to use both hands to try to grab onto the arm that had stabbed him in order to keep the clown from avoiding the reaper's next attack, as well as pulling the sword out of MetalPhantomon's ribcage. "You won't escape this time, clown. Soul Drain!"
If Piedmon didn't find a way to escape MetalPhantomon's grip, he would find his energy being drained away to heal the stab wound to MetalPhantomon's ribs. Soul Drain: MetalPhantomon grabs the foe to drain the vitality out of them directly, dealing damage equivalent to a 2-CD attack and healing MetalPhantomon by 50% of the damage inflicted. 4 post CD. 0/4 Lost Soul: 1/1 Protective Cloak: 3/3 Curse of Darkness: 4/4 Metal Bones (passive): Increases defense by 30%.

The clown clearly had not expected being grabbed. Taken by surprise, there was little he could do but struggle to free himself. “Ooooh, this sucks, pun intended!” He moaned in discomfort as his opponent’s successful Soul Drain attack literally sucked the life out of him. “Jokah, watch out!” Yuko warned him from a distance. She reflexively reached into her deck box, only to realize that she didn’t have another healing card she could use on her partner this time. “Please be alright…” The young delinquent worriedly muttered. Piedmon’s red lips curved into a strained smirk. “It’s worth noting… that you can’t escape either… Ending Snipe!” He retorted, raising his free arm, pointing his index finger straight at MetalPhantomon’s skeletal face, and firing another blast of magical energy point-blank into the skull’s hollow eye socket. The shock from that attack should definitely be enough for the mechanical reaper to loosen his grip, assuming he wouldn’t try to take hold of the clown again. After successfully freeing himself, the self-proclaimed Demon King swung his emerald beam-sword again, this time targeting the reaper’s bony arms. Naturally, he just HAD to make another bad pun for the occasion. “I hope my dashing good looks aren’t too… disarming!” Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Ending Snipe [Attack]: Fires a magical blast from his finger that follows the opponent like a homing projectile, making it nearly impossible for it to miss its target. Has a 3 turn cooldown.
Card Name: V-Saber Effect: The target Digimon summons UlforceVeedramon's V-Saber. It is a swift and lightweight blade that pierces through armor. (2/3)

MetalPhantomon chuckled as he felt the life energy mend his damaged ribs. Not even Piedmon's stupid pun could ruin the temporary good mood the reaper was currently experiencing.
The Ending Snipe to the eye socket certainly did, though. MetalPhantomon cried out in agony as he let go of Piedmon's arm to grasp at his ruined eye socket. He kept one hand covering his damaged socket as he summoned his scythe to his free hand and glared at the clown. "You will pay for that clown. I'm going to eat your soul, spit it out, and use it to strangle your wretched, little pet!"
He used his scythe to block Piedmon's incoming swing, before unleashing another Curse of Darkness towards the clown while their energy blades were locked. MetalPhantomon uncovered the damaged socket, revealing the jagged wound of ruined metal and bone, a black oily substance leaking from the wound like tears. It was not a pretty sight. Curse of Darkness: MetalPhantomon launches a ball of darkness at the foe that will lower their attack power by 30% for 3 turns if it hits. 3 post cooldown. (1/3) Soul Drain: 1/4 Metal Bones (passive): Increases defense by 30%.

As disturbing (and frankly weird) the thought of being strangled by a soul was, it wasn’t as disturbing as the sight of MetalPhantomon’s mutilated visage. Yuko winced in disgust. “Yikes! We made his face look even edgier.”Noticing another Curse of Darkness being cast, Piedmon jumped backwards and wagged his finger sassily. “You tried that once and it failed, silly! You should’ve known better.” He taunted the enemy, before using his expert knowledge of how to deal with magically aligned attacks in order to swiftly evade the approaching black orb. “Alright, those in favor of finishing this hunk-of-junk off, say ‘eye’! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” He made yet another painfully bad pun, followed by his trademark, obnoxious laughter. “Clown Trick!” Suddenly, Piedmon was flanked by half a dozen identical Piedmons, all of whom danced around MetalPhantomon, pretending to attack him, only for their attacks to phase right through him. They were merely illusions, of course, but the real deal was hiding among those fakes. Hoping that the one-eyed reaper would be distracted by all the copycats and be forced to lower his guard, the demonic jester stepped forward, swinging his V-Saber one final time with the intention of cleaving through that metallic torso. Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Laughing Mad [Passive]: The user roars with diabolical laughter that has a strong mental effect on anyone who hears it, making them feel disoriented for 1 turn and increasing all of their active cooldowns by 1. Usable as a free action with a 3 turn cooldown.
Clown Trick [Attack]: A wide arsenal of tricks and illusions that do not directly harm the opponent. Illusions can range from flashy, comedic effects to annoy them, or disguises and diversions to confuse them, however none of these tricks physically interact with the environment. Despite its variable nature, the intended effect is always to distract the opponent for a single turn. Has a 2 turn cooldown.

If it wasn't obvious, the wounded reaper was pissed beyond all measure. Seriously, there weren't words to describe how much rage was flowing through his metallic bones. The bad puns weren't helping his mood, either. "You won't be laughing once I'm done with you, you insufferable clown."
When Piedmon surrounded MetalPhantomon with multiple illusionary copies, MetalPhantomon decided to skip the middleman of figuring out which was real, and quickly spun around and swung his scythe in a circle in order to try and hit all of the Piedmons in one fell swoop. After swinging in a full circle, the reaper used the momentum to toss the scythe towards Yuko once more before rising up into the air to avoid Piedmon's last attack with the V-Saber.
Unless Piedmon suddenly grew wings, this would give MetalPhantomon a brief respite to regain his bearings. "That's it! Forget about the Vilemon, my minions! Kill the human girl!"
Most of the Bakemon were too engrossed in their fighting to hear the command, but one or two of them did turn to look at Yuko with sinister grins on their faces.

All of the illusory clones vanished into thin air as the reaper’s scythe cut through them. Piedmon’s own right arm was injured in the process, but it was nothing too serious. Noticing the same weapon being hurled towards his Tamer, the clown’s eyes widened. “Yuko, put one foot in front of the other, rinse and repeat! NOW!” He yelled in urgency, allowing his opponent to briefly give him the slip. The human girl didn’t need to be told twice, immediately running away from the flying scythe before it could take her head off. That was the least of her worries, since a couple of menacing Bakemon pursued her as well at their master’s command. “Why am I being attacked?! This has somehow never been a problem before!” She cried out. “Shoo, inferior underlings! Shoo, shoo! Trump Sword!” Jokah exclaimed, quickly tossing his four swords towards the pair of Bakemon. Being Champion-level Digimon being hit by a Mega-level attack, their chances of survival were all but none. The evil harlequin then turned back to MetalPhantomon, his sour expression soon giving way to yet another confident grin. “Shouldn’t you be focusing on killing me instead? Or have you realized that there is nothing you can do against a Demon King?” He taunted the airborne cyborg. Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.

One of the Bakemon chasing Yuko got skewered by the Trump Swords and was promptly deleted before he even realized he'd been hurt. His comrade next to him froze at the sight for a moment before promptly turning tail and fleeing for his life. The mutilated Reaper made a mental note to have that traitor hunted down and executed later. The wounded reaper was almost apoplectic in anger.
"I am done playing games with you, clown! Soul Predator!" MetalPhantomon roared, as he recalled his scythe back to his hand. Once more, the scythe tripled in size before the cybernetic reaper charged towards Piedmon once more with the intent to kill, a blazing red pinprick of light glowing with anger inside the reaper's undamaged eye socket. MetalPhantomon was so focused on Piedmon that he didn't even register that he knocked one of his own Bakemon off to the side as he charged. Yuko clutched her own knees, panting from exertion. At least it seemed like no more Bakemon were coming her way after witnessing the terrible fate that befell their comrade. Now they just had one incredibly incensed reaper to deal with. Determined to return the favor for being saved, the teenage Tamer activated another card. “Jokah, use this! Mirror Shield!” She hollered at her partner. A luminous shield manifested in front of Piedmon, taking the full brunt of MetalPhantomon’s furious assault, while leaving the Clown Prince completely unscathed. “The soul you have dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please leave a message after the boom! Toy Wonderness!” The Demon Man Digimon quipped, waving his hand and summoning another roaring gust of wind. Like before, a bunch of explosive, stuffed bears flew towards the angry reaper. Thanks to the momentary protection granted by his shield, Piedmon himself would be safe from the series of explosions that followed. Perhaps the same could not be said about his reckless opponent… Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.
Toy Wonderness [Attack]: Creates powerful gusts of wind with a swipe of his hand, sweeping up toys that explode upon coming to contact with an opponent. Those hit by the explosions have their accuracy lowered for 2 turns. Has a 4 turn cooldown.
Demon King's Charisma [Passive]: If the user was not hit by any attacks in the previous turn, reduce all of his cooldowns by 1. This ability itself is not affected by this, having a natural cooldown of 3 turns.
Card Name: Mirror Shield Effect: The target Digimon gains a shield made of pure light. It can reflect all damage from a single attack of your level or many attacks of the level below. It can reduce damage from an attack of a single level higher, but does not reflect them. (1/1)

MetalPhantomon growled in frustration as his attack had been blocked by the shield card the human girl had activated. Just how many of those did she have?! In his anger, he almost missed the Toy Wonderness attack the clown unleashed and barely managed to use his cloak to protect himself from the explosions. After the explosions ended, MetalPhantomon would actually take a moment to slowly start clapping at his opponent as his scythe returned to its normal size.
"It seems we're at a stalemate. You wounded my eye, and I wounded your arm, but neither of us seems to be able to truly get the upper hand on the other. I can certainly respect your tenacity, at least." The reaper said to his opponent, a lot calmer than he was just a few moments ago. "Who knows? If I had met you before meeting my current master, perhaps it could've been you that I served, instead of Lord NeoMyotismon. But I suppose this is hardly the time to ponder what-ifs. En garde!"

The flamboyant trickster tried to jump out of the way of MetalPhantomon's charge, but due to a slight miscalculation, received another cut on his chest from the reaper's scythe, causing him to frown. “Hmph! I’m well acquainted with the Myotismon family. They’re vampire nobility with exquisite taste in wardrobe, but they’re not fit to rule the Digital World when they can’t even handle a shiny ball in the sky!” He scoffed, pointing at where the sun WOULD be in the Dark Area’s perpetually cloudy skies. Piedmon’s frown turned into another smirk. “I, on the other hand, can toy with people’s perception of reality so flawlessly, it is impossible to tell the smoke from the mirrors! Clown Trick!” The environment around them distorted into something surreal; The color palette changed into brighter, more unusual colors stylistically reminiscent of a popular anime about muscular men punching each other with magical ghosts, while the decrepit buildings seemingly transformed into carnival rides and giant jacks-in-boxes that laughed obnoxiously. “You may call all of this fake, but life itself is a charade! I’m just making it more fun for everyone… but mostly for me! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Clearly aiming to inflict sensory overload on his opponent with his large-scale, overly busy illusion, the self-proclaimed Demon King let out an obnoxious laughter of his own, joining the creepy jacks-in-boxes in a harrowing symphony of ridicule and mockery. Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.

Metalphantomon tightened his grip on his scythe and backed up a bit, visibly unnerved by the clown-like digimon's illusions. He would never admit to this out loud, but the reaper was starting to believe that, just maybe, he had bitten off more than he could chew. "Quite an impressive illusion, I must admit., but you still seem to be lacking the actual power to deal the finishing blow."
The cybernetic reaper would push through the sensory overload through sheer force of will in order to unleash another Grave Scream towards Piedmon, unless the girl had another shield card to throw at her partner, the shockwave of sound would still be likely to distract the clown enough to break the illusion even if it actually missed the Piedmon. "Hahaha... You claim to be the Demon King of the Dark Area, Piedmon? Then show me! Show me if you have the mettle to back up such a bold claim! Give me everything you've got!" Yet another chuckle escaped Piedmon’s red lips. “Hah! Pardon me. I was having so much fun, I completely forgot I was supposed to deal the finishing blow!” He mused. Truth be told, he had spent more time either fooling around or trying to protect Yuko than actually inflicting damage on his opponent, broken eye socket notwithstanding. As MetalPhantomon’s Grave Scream dispelled his illusions, the Clown Prince decided to do something risky; He took the defense-piercing sound blast head on - confident that while the move would certainly be damaging, he could survive it - and in doing so, he got a clear, nigh unmissable shot at the cybernetic reaper. Powering through the crushing wave of destructive decibels that assaulted his prone body, the demonic jester managed to outstretch his arm, aiming his index finger and firing a magical blast straight into the cyborg’s gaping, still screaming, skeletal maw. “Chew on this! Ending Snipe!” Hellish Clown [Passive]: As a mysterious Demon Man Digimon from another dimension, and a master of magic and trickery, he gains a high evasion boost against magical, elemental and/or energy-based attacks, at the cost of lowering his defense against physical attacks.

MetalPhantomon was overjoyed to see the Piedmon get hit by his attack as it tore through the illusion, but he had little time to react to the ending snipe aimed directly at his skull. The reaper barely had enough time to raise a hand to protect what was left of his face as the Ending Snipe blew off most of his hand, leaving him with only his thumb and pointer finger on his left hand. MetalPhantomon grunted in pain as he examined his mangled hand. "Hahaha. Well, you certainly don't disappoint. But it is time to finish this once and for all."
MetalPhantomon would once more charge towards Piedmon with his scythe ready to swing, his mangled hand barely affecting his ability to hold his scythe due to a literally magnetic grip. Unknown to Piedmon, this scythe attack was more than a simple charge. Right before MetalPhantomon came upon Piedmon, he would also unleash another Lost Soul towards Piedmon, leaving the clown to face two incoming at the same time.
