Within the depths of a thick forest in the Eastern Timberlands Stacy made her way through the branches. Though she wasn't a creature of the forest one couldn't tell otherwise as she seemed to move through the branches of trees and bushes as if she was one with the forest itself. Unbeknownst to the young looking thirty eight year old spirit wielder though she wasn't alone. Gazing at her from amongst the highest tree branches with glowing yellow eyes was a figure wearing a cloak that seemed to be made of leaves so he would be hard to spot even if he was on the move. This was useful for him for he was hunting Stacy after he had gotten paid to bring her down. His employer had said she was a dangerous human though she herself didn't appear as such. He knew spirit wielders were an unpredictable bunch with a wide variety of abilities one couldn't always guess at first glance.
Stacy soon came upon a pond filled with clean water and decided to stop for a drink since she had no idea when she would come across more water. Kneeling down she began drinking her fill as the figure in the trees knew now was his best chance to take her down. Leaping from branch to branch he got into an ideal location and flung what appeared to be a shuriken at Stacy.
Lady Luck seemed to be smiling on Stacy as the shuriken aimed at her was caught by the wind and knocked off course causing the deadly projectile to hit the ground mere inches from her leg. Shocked by her near death, Stacy tried to quickly stand up only to fall backwards landing on her behind. A second shuriken came flying over her head as she fell backwards. Deciding not to wait to see if third time would be the charm she removed her D-Tector from her Digivice Cradle on her right arm with her left hand and clutched her D-Tector tight. Fractal coding formed around her right hand as she ran that hand over the top of her D-Tector. "Execute! Human Spirit Evolution!" Stacy said as she began to be enveloped in the familiar warm glow that indicated her transformation to her holy human spirit, that and a wolf howl sounded through the forest. Meanwhile her attacker had shielded his eyes from the light of her transformation. "Blitzwolfmon!" she called out indicating the end of her transformation and the name of the ancient digimon she drew power from.
Blitzwolfmon raised her head and sniffed the air trying to catch the unfamiliar scent of her attacker. 'What's this? The attacker is in the trees. Lucky for me I can climb trees in this form as well as a squirrel. Bad break for my attacker.' she thought as she caught sight of the cloaked figure in the trees. With several powerful strides she reached a tree and climbed it with ease because of the claws on her hands and feet. Her potential assassin stared at her with wide eyes that reflected his surprise but before he could throw another shuriken, Blitzwolfmon grabbed him with her left hand her claws just shy of sinking into him as she pinned him against the tree.
Blitzwolfmon growled her anger obvious but who could blame her for that considering she had two shurikens thrown at her by someone too cowardly to fight her face to face. "So now I face cowards who attack me when I'm no threat to them. Why do I always encounter those with no sense of honor?"
"What do you mean you're no threat? My employer said you were dangerous." The cloaked digimon said his fear fortunately not shaking his need for knowledge.
"Remember when you attacked me? I had trouble getting to my feet. If the wind wasn't with me today, I would have been dead. In my natural human state it's a miracle if I'm not always tripping over my feet. By that logic the worst I can do is fall all over others. I'm also slower than a sickly snail when I run so your employer didn't even need to pay you to assassinate me." Blitzwolfmon said with a snarl still not leaving her face.
"How do I know you aren't lying to save your own skin?" he asked giving her a scrutinizing look. He was still afraid but he was hiding his fear effectively now.
"You have some nerve calling me a liar considering you are hiding your identity and attacking me from the shadows while I'm vulnerable." Blitzwolfmon countered coldly while flexing the claws of her currently unused right hand. "You reveal yourself and I'll let you go. Surely you can find that arrangement fair enough."
Apparently the stranger found Blitzwolfmon's words to be sensible as a hand with three digits reached up and pulled his leafy cloak free sending it fluttering to the ground below. Staring into the stranger's glowing yellow eyes it seemed he was a Shurimon. Fearful yellow eyes stared at Blitzwolfmon doubting her words regarding letting him go and he wouldn't blame her if she decided to eliminate him right then and there. However, to Shurimon's surprise, Blitzwolfmon lived up to her word and released her grip on the samurai that attacked her.
"I have to admit, I'm surprised you let me go even though I tried to kill you." Shurimon finally said after remaining quiet for several minutes.
"I believe in keeping my word. So, could you tell me who hired you to assassinate me?" Blitzwolfmon asked as she watched Shurimon smooth out the wrinkles in his clothes left by her claws. Other than that Shurimon was undamaged.
"All I know was the one who hired me was a Myotismon but I don't know why." Shurimon answered before he then said "I guess I should be grateful that you seem to be an honorable woman. Forgive me for my earlier stupidity."
"It's no problem but it makes me wonder what that Myotismon has against me. I don't remember crossing paths with such a digimon in my travels." Blitzwolfmon said as she tried to puzzle out why an ultimate level digimon would send a champion to assassinate her when she was capable of utilizing a beast spirit herself.
Looking at the sky it seemed the sun was going to go down soon. Not that she was bothered by the dark but wasn't Myotismon nocturnal? If he was determined to wipe her out it would be a matter of time before he showed up himself. Climbing out of the tree she returned to her human state the second she hit the ground and it seemed that Shurimon followed her to the ground himself.
"Why are you dedigivolving? What if Myotismon is lurking not far away?" Shurimon asked his confusion was rampant.
"Quite obvious, Shurimon. Myotismon is known to be nocturnal and if he was near I would of smelled an unknown scent other than yourself. If we get moving we should be able to get out of this forest before we have a vampire breathing down our necks. That and as a human, I attract far less attention than I would as a digimon. Since digimon have many different ways to detect one another you should sense him before he finds us. That is if he's looking for us in the first place. By the way, my name is Stacy." Stacy said in response to Shurimon's questions. Yes she was concerned but decided to put up a brave front because one of them had to if they had a chance of survival. Funny how she had to team up with an assassin that had just moments ago had been targeting her. The universe had a demented sense of humor at times it seemed.
As the sun set the duo consisting of spirit wielder and assassin made it outside of the dense forest. As more stars became visible in the night sky the two of them became more restless by the minute. It was too quiet and one didn't have to be a digimon to figure that out. Shurimon tightened the grip on the shuriken in each of his hands and looked skyward. No clearer an indicator that he sensed something was needed as what appeared to be bats fluttering in their direction grew closer and closer.
Grasping her D-Tector in her left hand Stacy felt the bands of fractal coding encircle her right hand like it normally did. Running her right hand over the top of her D-Tector, she said "Execute! Beast Spirit Evolution!" Warm holy light engulfed her petite form before her body began to grow in size while a wolf howl was heard. Shurimon watched the transformation out of the corner of his eye as the bats weren't the only thing visible as it seemed Myotismon could clearly be seen as well. As Myotismon reached the duo the holy light dispersed revealing a three headed wolf with the center head wearing a holy ring like a collar. "Lupinecerberusmon!"
"It seems the spirit wielder was more powerful than I thought but no matter. I've defeated other ultimates before so this human playing digimon will be no different." Myotismon said with a chuckle as he sent the enormous wave of bats at Lupinecerberusmon and Shurimon.
Great not only did they have to deal with Myotismon but a ridiculously large wave of bats that seemed to be the vampire's first attack on them. This was going to be one of those opponents that got on her nerves it seemed. Releasing a deep sigh she looked at Shurimon, who looked ready to attempt to fight off the bats, before she said "Shurimon, get behind me. I have an attack that can handle this irritating bat problem."
Though Shurimon seemed to doubt Lupinecerberusmon's statement he moved behind the large three headed wolf. "Time for a bat barbecue! Shield of Flame!" she said as an orange and red shield made of fire formed from her very body before finishing taking form in front of her before she charged. Myotismon watched in shock as his wave of bats burnt to ash before his eyes as Lupinecerberusmon came running at him surprisingly fast. Then her shield launched free from her and flew at Myotismon.
Myotismon flew up higher to avoid the flaming shield and whips of energy formed in his palms as he turned towards Shurimon. "Crimson Lightning!" he said lashing out with the crimson energy whips aiming to wipe out the plant samurai before he could evade. Much to Myotismon's annoyance though his whips didn't even come close to connecting as Lupinecerberusmon proved to be more troublesome with her speed than he thought as she dashed for Shurimon and snatched him gently in her jaws before effortlessly getting clear of the Crimson Lightning attack.
Shurimon was sure surprised that he not only had not a scratch on him but had been relocated from his original spot faster than he could process. Lupinecerberusmon was now standing in front of him again in a protective stance while Myotismon was preparing to use his Crimson Lightning attack once again. Her fur began glowing with holy light as she stared down Myotismon. "Zodiac Burst!" she called out as a blast of holy power shot forth from her taking the form of a dog which happened to be her sign in the Chinese Zodiac.
The burst of holy power flew at Myotismon sending the vampire hurtling backwards and into a tree. He pushed himself painfully to his feet using the tree to support him. "This is not the last you'll see of me, human, I'll return and you'll not be so lucky when next we meet." Myotismon gasped as he weakly took to the air before he slowly disappeared from sight.
So he was planning to return. Man he was sounding like a Saturday morning cartoon villain but this threat was actually potentially dangerous to her health. It seemed Myotismon wasn't the only one taking his leave as Shurimon used the large shuriken on his back to take flight but disappearing into the night much faster than Myotismon did without so much as a thank you. Shrugging she returned to her human form and moved in the opposite direction of both Shurimon and Myotismon so she could find a quiet place to rest for the night before heading home in the morning.
