Owen the Gaomon was pleased to see that there was only fine weather and good times this time around in Whitewater. He had arrived the previous day with his twin sons Matty the Onmon and Jimmy the Musimon, and the three of them had a delightful time, now that the heat of summer was less intense and had turned to autumn. They had spent the previous night having fun in the local arcades and watching the sun set at a beachside restaurant for dinner before retiring to their hotel room for the night.
But much and more awaited them the next day - for they had been contacted and approached by an Orcamon, who had revealed himself as the captain of a cargo vessel set to sail for the Blossom Isles the next day. The Orcamon said that he needed some extra crew for safety on this voyage, because he was carrying some valuable cargo and the waters they had sailed through had seen active pirate activity of late.
Owen initially hesitated, but Matty spoke up with interest at once. "Ooh! That's where you and papa had your honeymoon isn't it, dad?" he asked.
"And it's meant to be a really nice place, right?" Jimmy added. "Can we go, dad?"
"If you join our crew as defense, we won't charge you a bit for your journey, and we'll provide provisions and accommodation." Orcamon continued. Well, this was a pretty fair offer, and Orcamon seemed to be fairly genuine. Plus, if this turned out to be a dud deal, Owen could simply evolve to MachGaogamon and fly with his sons back to the mainland.
"Alright, we'll do it." the Gaomon said. "When and where should we be tomorrow?"
"Alright then. We'll have to be ready to depart by 7am next morning. That's the ship over there." he pointed his flipper to a tall wooden Galleon at rest in the harbor. Owen blinked with confusion.
"Isn't that a bit... low-tech?" he inquired, looking at the rest of the ships in the harbor, most of them powered by engines.
"Oh, yes, that's necessary I'm afraid." Orcamon explained. "The pirates can more easily track down ships with engines because they make a lot of noise. But with sailing ships, we can pass through their waters silently."
Owen crossed his arms and rubbed his chin in thought. That was fairly logical. Water carried sound quite a long way.
"Let's go dad, please, I've always wanted to ride a sailing ship!" Matty exclaimed, and Jimmy agreed. Well, anti-pirate patrol was definitely something that aligned with what he thought was right, so, why not?
"Alright then, we'll join in." Owen said, thinking that he had enough strength to keep his sons safe and protect the ship.
"Brilliant! Thanks so much. I've asked some others to join in too, it won't be just you guys." Orcamon said.
With that, Owen and the twins retired for the night, having dinner and going to bed nice and early so they were up at dawn the next day, all packed and ready to embark on the sailing ship to the Blossom Isles, Owen dressed in his usual khaki tunic, Matty and Jimmy in their jeans and jackets, eager for the adventure ahead.

While the Orcamon may have recruited others in person, he also sent out a recruitment notice on Tamernet, which was how Adrian and Shoutmon found out about it. Orcamon was recruiting an anti-pirate patrol for a cargo ship heading to the Blossom Isles, and would provide free transport and accommodations to anyone who joined. Adrian read his offer on Tamernet in his bedroom before asking his partner, "What are the Blossom Isles?"
"You don't know!?" Shoutmon excitedly asked as he sat on Adrian's bed. "The Blossom Isles is a beautiful island in the Digital World, with a bunch of amazing looking flower gardens, and there's live theaters and museums...! I went there once with Lia back in my old life, before everything happened."
"Well do you feel like going again? This Orcamon is recruiting an anti-pirate patrol for a cargo ship that's heading there at seven AM in Whitewater. Didn't even know the Digital World had pirates."
"It does, and they're nasty. But we've handled nasty before, and I think you'd like the Blossom Isles. We should do it!"
"...yeah, alright. Should be fun, we don't really do anything in the DIgital World these days." After accepting the position, Adrian and Shoutmon used the Digiport to travel to Whitewater City, conveniently porting in right by the docks. Orcamon mentioned that it would be a low-tech ship so the pirates wouldn't detect them. Considering there was only one ship like that, it was clear that that was the ship they were meant to be on.
"The ship looks kinda crappy," Shoutmon commented with a slight displeased look.
"If Orcamon was right, pirates can track ships with engines. Besides it doesn't look THAT bad, it's at least sturdy looking. Come on, let's get on board." Adrian gripped the suitcase handle in his right hand and took a few steps forward-
BUMP! THUD!
"Augh!" Adrian was suddenly knocked onto the ground by an incoming other passenger. Picking himself up and grabbing his suitcase, while trying to get his head to remain stable, he turned around to see just who it was that crashed into him. And when he did, his eyes widened big-time.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, I just got excited and-" The culprit responded before she too got a good look at Adrian. It was Kaya Matsui, who Adrian considered to be his unofficial little sister. What the hell was she doing in the Digital World? "...Adrian?"
"Kaya?"
"Wait, you two know each other?"
"You have a Digimon!?"
"Do you?!!"
"Kaya, please wait up," Another voice called out, a voice that came from the Hawkmon wearing a bow quiver that was running up to the pre-teen girl. "Kaya, please do not run off on your own like that." It was then that he'd notice the other human and Shoutmon standing there. "Erm, hello... please don't mind my partner, she's just never been on a 'pirate adventure' before, despite me telling her this isn't what this is."
"No no, it's fine... we actually know each other."
"You... do?"
"We can talk about it more on the ship. Let's get on before it leaves without us." Now with an extra element of confusion and tension between the four, the group headed over to the ship and boarded. They had a lot to talk about during this journey...

Carlos was no stranger to work. If anything, despite considering himself to be on the rather lazy side of the scale, he found himself the most at ease when his mind was preoccupied with something more mundane, or working towards some sort of goal. So it was no wonder he had been accepting odd jobs here and there as of recently, dragging bringing along his twin partners for them whenever possible. Not that they minded too much of course, it beated having to be sitting around on his Shibuya appartment doing nothing all day.
Today was...slightly different, as the work Carlos had found for them was far more involved and long term than the usual one day gigs and odd jobs they had been accomplishing all over Whitewater in the past week or so. At the very least, it was fairly less mundane than simply cleaning the dishes at a wedding reception or be a club’s bouncers for a night…actually it wasn’t too different from that last one, since he had taken up an offer that involved working as security for a cargo ship. Something about being on the lookout in case they ran into pirates or the like on their way to their destination. Perhaps something a bit under their usual pay grade one might have said, considering the rather high stakes missions they had already taken many a time before, but if there was money to be made and more importantly, people to be helped, there was really no job too small for them. At least that’s what Carlos liked to believe, even if one of his partners didn’t seem to agree.
“Feh, the Dark Lord would much appreciate if you would stop dragging us all into these jobs for a day. You sure you weren't a slave driver in a past life?” The impmon known as Dio snidely said once the man shared the news with the twins about their newest job, clearly tired from the past week of near endless work. An expected answer really, almost as expected as the convincing counter argument his black guilmon brother soon offered.
“Aw come on bro, it’ll be fun! We could meet real pirates! Or or find treasure!” The lizard said, wonder in his voice.
“Also money. Don’t forget about the money.” The man added, knowing if he had Gio’s approval this mission was as good as taken. As much as the imp tried to deny it, he was a complete softie when it came to saying no to his brother, so after a bit more of a half hearted back and forth he would eventually cave in.
Using what little money they had left over from the previous gig the trio rented a modest room in a hotel near the harbor to stay the night at, and went to bed as early as they could, wanting to be well rested for the next day. After a quick breakfast that next morning they would head for the docks, the morning sea breeze helping them in getting rid of whatever leftover grogginess they still had from waking up that early. As the trio got ready to board the vessel they would turn to see the quite the colorful cast of characters already boarding the ship: A rather familiar looking gaomon and what seemed to be either very close friends of his or relatives, as well as two humans with their respective partners. All of them more than likely being here for that very same job.
With a still somewhat sleepy sounding “Good morning.” from the man, a quick nod from the impmon and an energetic wave of his arm from the guilmon they made their way aboard the ship, unsure of what awaited them that day but more than eager to find out.

Luna still didn't fully like getting work like she was a mercenary, left a bad taste in her mouth while she did the jobs she had. Still they had something she needed and she had the skills they needed so it all just worked out for everyone if she just helped. This time it was an Orcamon who needed guards for his ships against pirates, Luna didn't realize there was actual pirates that would rob those on the sea but she figured it made some sort of sense, in a bad way. A free trip to where she was going was also a great compensation for this whole thing, given her inability to find where she was going this would work out best. Originally she had planned on just riding her motorcycle across the ocean with the diving bell she got, but she recalled if she tried that there was at least a 100% chance of her losing her way and ending up somewhere very much not there. So with all that gave her the reasons she needed to accept the job as a bodyguard.
Slowly she walked through the town looking around the area for the docks, she had spent most of the morning going the wrong way. Ending up at the Inn again more then once, she started early though because she assumed that this was gonna be something that happens, considering it happens to her all the time. Still she managed to get to the docks well enough, with not much time to spare but hey at least she managed to find the place well enough. Well Luna's version of well enough.
While walking up she thought she saw Kaya and Hawkeye at a distance, whatever it was she saw bumped into someone and went onto the ship so she'd figure that out in a second. Remembering the description of the ship it was pretty much a no-brainer to find it with all the ones around it being of lesser quality. With a new spring in her step Luna started walking a bit faster, being the last one it seems to get on board. "Was worried I wouldn't make it." She muttered to herself as she stepped up, luckily for her she wasn't late.

As Owen, Matty and Jimmy approached the galleon, Owen recognized a few familiar faces. Adrian and Shoutmon, as well as Carlos, Dio and Gio, he had last seen them in the forest near Rosewood, back when Bezil was still travelling at his side.
"Ah, g'day there!" he called out to them when he saw them. Matty and Jimmy blinked, they hadn't yet met these five. Owen sought to introduce them quickly. "Matty, Jimmy, this is Adrian and Shoutmon, and this is Carlos, Dio and Gio, they're friends of mine. Also, in return, these are my twin sons Matty and Jimmy."
"Heya!" Matty said, waving his metal claw of a hand.
"Yooo, homeslices!" Jimmy said, making a complicated gesture with his arms and ears.
The rest, Owen didn't know that well. He hadn't met Kaya and Hawkmon before, nor Luna. But given that they seemed to be boarding the ship with them, he supposed they'll be working together. He was about to say hello when Orcamon approached them.
"Ah, excellent, you're here!" he said, delighted. "Well then, welcome to the cargo ship Eden Chariot. I'm Orcamon, the ship captain, and I take it you're all here to assist with anti-pirate duty?"
"We are." Owen confirmed. "Although I'd like to ask a few questions about your manifest first before we commit to this. We can't agree to do this if you're carrying anything dangerous..."
"Ah, of course, here is our manifest." Orcamon said, pulling the logbook from his flotation ring and handed it to the Gaomon. He looked at the last few filled pages carefully.
"Hmm. Mainly glassware and foodstuff..." he said, not seeing anything particularly bad. And made logical sense, he knew that the Blossom Isles were in great need of the cargo in this ship. He offered to show the manifest to anyone else that wanted to see - the ship's main cargo was several tons of glass, sugar, flour, spices and rubber.
However, it was Matty that asked the next question. "If the cargo's so valuable, why are we going through pirate waters? Can't we go around?" the Onmon asked.
"I'm afraid not. The only way to avoid the archipelago is to go near the Dark Area, where there's worse than pirates." Orcamon answered. The three of them accepted that answer with shudders. "And don't worry. If we do encounter pirates, they'll back off if we have a strong enough defense, and if you guys agree to defend us, we'll have that."
Well, it seemed logical enough for Owen, he looked around to see how the others thought of this.

While they were on the ship, Adrian and Shoutmon perked up when they heard that familiar accent call out to them. Turning around, there was Owen, one of the first friends the two had made from back when Adrian first became a Tamer. But this time he had two unfamiliar Digimon accompanying him... of course they both knew how quickly his family multiplied, so they rightfully assumed that they were also his sons.
"Owen! It's been too long," Shoutmon cheerfully greeted the Gaomon with a wave. Owen introduced them to his Onmon and Musimon sons, who were named Matty and Jimmy respectively, but he also introduced them to another human that was nearby, one that looked vaguely familiar to Adrian. He had an Impmon and a BlackGuilmon with him, must've been a twin Tamer.
"Oh, so you know Owen too? I'm Adrian and this is my partner Shoutmon. Have we... met anywhere, may I ask? You look kinda familiar for some reason..."
"OH-MY-GOSH-IT'S-A-PUPPER-WITH-BOXING-GLOVES!!!!" Kaya almost immediately squealed, running up to Owen and giving him all the good boy pets he could possibly want.
"Kaya, it's rude to run up and touch a Digimon you haven't met before," Hawkeye told his partner as he grabbed onto her leg, successfully pulling her away from the Gaomon.
"And ignore a good boy that needs all the pets in the world, have you gone mad?!"
Adrian and Shoutmon couldn't help but laugh at the scene that was playing out in front of them. "That's definitely Kaya, alright."
It wouldn't be long before the ships captain, Orcamon, welcomed the crew aboard and informed everyone about what the ship's cargo contained. Shoutmon and Hawkeye read the logbook from behind each of Owen's shoulders. He was right, it was mainly glassware and foodstuff, very valuable things for the Blossom Isles to have. It was apparently either going through pirate waters or going a route that's close to the Dark Area.
"I've heard bad things about the Dark Area."
"I did too. Maybe the pirate area is the best way to go."
"No need to worry! We can handle a few messy ol' pirates!"
"I'm sure we can handle this task. You can count on us, Orcamon."
After Orcamon would leave, it would give the crew a chance to mingle among themselves. Shoutmon decided to ask Owen a question, since this was probably the perfect time to ask. "Hey Owen, my son Rory's been attending your school. Do you know how well he's been doing? He isn't too much to handle, is he? It's been a while since I've seen him, is all."

"Hi mister Owen, sir!" Gio was the first to reply to the Gaomon's greeting, his tail wagging back and forth while raising his hand next to his forehead, giving the blue dog his best recreation of the well known military salute he had seen so many times in movies. He tended to do stuff like that, mostly as his own odd way to show his respect to those he could feel were probably stronger or wiser (or both) than him. Which happened rather often, consideing how young and sheltered he was. Though he was quick to drop the salute before going for a two handed hand shake with the Onmon, then Musimon, then Shoutmon, Hawkeye and Luna even though he hadn't gotten these last two's names yet. Nor did he seem to mind or care about that, he was happy enough with meeting new people it seemed. "And hi Matty, Jimmy and Shoutmon too!"
"Good to see you again. Guess I wasn't the only one to think this could be a nice family outing." Carlos smiled, giving his partners a playful pat on the head (all while slightly dragging Gio a small step away from handshaking distance, not wanting for him to escalate into full on head patting everyone right out the gate). Was it a bit odd to call a possibly dangerous mission? Possibly, but seeing how both him and Owen felt comfortably enough with bringing those close to them along for the ride it was hard not to.
He then turned to the other humans as Owen introduced Adrian, giving him a nod in greeting. "Maybe? People have said I have a bit of an everyman face so you could also be thinking of someone else."
"That's a very polite of saying you have a "generic" face, Carlos. Sides I don't think that's quite your ...let's call it most notable feature." Dio said, pointing at the top of his head. Right, the garishly and brightly dyied hair wasn't easy to forget about. The man gave a short conceding nod to that, before turning back to Adrian.
"Eh, s'nice to meet you all anyways."
As Owen looked over the ship's cargo manifest, Dio also took a quick glance over his shoulder, his eyes quickly searching for something in the list that clearly wasn't present, judging by his somewhat dissinterested look after he was done.
"Hmph, shame. Not a single cannon or explosive to speak of? So if pirates do show up we only have our power to fend them off." He shrugged, sounding almost dissapointed at that, though he was quick to turn to the Orcamon before adding in a reassuring tone, "Not that we need anything else mind you, but contingency plans are nice, just on the very off chance the pirates aren't scared away by us."
"Yes, I'm sure they'll run away once they see your ego there is big enough to sink the Titanic."
As usual for Dio, the imp seemed more than convinced about his bravado filled words, clearly trusting his own strenght and that of the digimon around him perhaps a bit too much for his own good. Why did he care so much about the lack of weaponry in the cargo then? Maybe he was right about wanting to have a backup plan...or more than likely, he just really wanted the oppportunity to fire a cannon at something. At least, that's what Carlos thought was the most likely answer.
"Yeah, take this from someone that's already been down there one too many times, the Dark Area is probably worse than any pirate." Was all Carlos felt like he needed to add about the ships route. And really, after having seen everything from cults, to infections and a literal god in the Dark Area, he was fairly confident in that statement. The twins didn't say anything, but judging by the look and quiet shudder they also shared, it was obvious to anyone watching that they agreed with Carlos' stance.

Well it appeared there was one very clear thing to Luna from the moment she stepped on the ship, she was the only one who didn't have a guest or a partner with her. Seeing everyone grouped together and even all knowing each other made her chest feel a bit tighter, for a second she seemed down for a moment but then her hands were suddenly grabbed by a friendly digimon in a double hand shake, quickly throwing that feeling of dread away Luna quickly returned the handshake as enthusiastic as she was getting with a smile on her face. Then they seemed to run off so Luna let them talk for a bit as she spied on the manifest real quickly, took her a few moments to read everything but nothing seemed out of place for what she thought. Though part of her wondered why Pirates would go to great lengths to steal stuff like this, it was probably something out of her depth if she was honest so she decided to push that thought out of her head for a bit.
That thing about the dark area did spike her interest, she was going to hafta go there eventually but that definitely could wait till later. "Like they said, I've been there and it isn't the best place to even drive past." The few times she did go there it ended up with her attacked, which wasn't good. While she did say that she couldn't help but hear Kaya scream about how cute the Gaomon was, thinking back she had the same hyper voice when she saw Luna's rookie form. Though thinking on that it was pretty possible that Kaya wouldn't recognize Luna. "I thought I saw you, Hey Kaya, Hawkeye it's me. Luna, from the Island." Luna gave a small wave, her now Lekismon body obviously much different then her previous form. However the theme was still the same so it wasn't that far fetched.
Luna waited for everyone to talk to one another, given they knew each other before she spoke up. "Well you seem all acquainted, but I only know Kaya and Hawkeye. Like I said my named Luna, Ex-mercenary. I'm a healer so if any of you get hurt come straight to me and I'll patch you up good as new." Luna said giving a large wave and a smile. "Err, but yeah it'd be better if no one got hurt at all, hehe. I'm sure things will go smoothly." Hopefully she didn't hafta do her job but it was probably still reassuring there was a medic on board.

Owen was momentarily surprised by Kaya rushing up to him and petting him. Thankfully the Gaomon rather liked this treatment from humans, and let her pet him, even going as far as clandestinely moving her hands to where he'd like to be pet. A favourite spot was behind his ears and neck.
"Yeesh, dad..." Jimmy muttered, flinching from second hand embarrassment. But he and Matty were glad to greet Gio. While the BlackGuilmon was so much bigger than them, he seemed friendly enough for them to be relaxed around him.
Meanwhile Dio noted that they didn't have any military cargo on board. Orcamon acknowledged this as the Impmon raised it. "Yeah, that's right. The idea is that we can pose for innocent merchants if we need to. That's a major reason why I hired you all, as long as we can play the part of simple Rookies and Champions, we can hide our true power. But if things go bad, we have a lot of strength in reserve."
"Hmm, okay, I can see value in that strategy." Owen remarked as he recovered from Kaya's pettings. Keep the best guns hidden for the best advantage, yeah, that could work. It could also backfire, but, he had confidence that they could work with that.
Matty and Jimmy giggled at the comment about Dio's ego being as big as the Titanic. While they weren't familiar with that human ship, they thought the word was amusing. The two of them kinda were curious about learning more about Dio and Gio, they seemed fun.
Owen meanwhile turned to Luna. "Ah, you're a healer? That's excellent, always good to see a fellow medic around. I know a few healing techniques myself, so I get the value of that." he smiled.
Following that, Owen turned back to Shoutmon as he asked about his son's progress in Rosewood. "Ahh, Rory, yes, he's been a fun pupil." Owen said, making a half-smile. "While he did spend most of his time trying to score dates, he was at least good at his classes. Very good fighter, and a competent survivalist. He's about ready to graduate in fact, hopefully at the same time as these two." he looked at Matty and Jimmy.
"Oh please, dad, we coulda graduated a long time ago." Matty retorted. "We know you'd just miss us so we've been holding back."
This was one of the few things that his children could say that displeased Owen. "Matty, please don't say things like that." he said, gently, but coldly. Matty took the rebuke with a flinch.
"Sorry, dad..." he said, knowing that Owen thought very poorly on dishonesty.
"It's fine." As long as Matty recognized what he did wrong, that was the end of it. With that, it seemed that they were about ready to depart. The anchor was raised, the sails were unfurled, and Orcamon directed the crew to leave port.
As the ship began to move into the easterly wind, Owen was eager to catch up with news and get to know those that he didn't. "So then, have you been up to much since we last met?" he asked Adrian, Carlos and their partners. "And what sort of adventures have you had so far?" he asked Kaya and Luna.

Adrian cracked a smile after seeing the BlackGuilmon's energetic child-like behavior. It was kind of refreshing after meeting more mature Digimon (and Roger) over the past few months. Shoutmon and Kaya were also smiling at Gio as he went around shaking hands, but of course Hawkeye was keeping his usual stoic face, unmoved by his behavior. Still, he accepted the handshake no problem, nodding to the BlackGuilmon as his way of saying hello.
The human's Impmon partner had a point when he mentioned how Carlos' face wouldn't be what people remember, referring to his bright white hair. Adrian laughed when Dio pointed that out. "Yeah, I'd definitely remember someone with hair like yours, and people recognize me easily since I seem to be the only person around that wears goggles. Nice to meet you too, Carlos."
As that was going on, Shoutmon was talking to Owen about how Rory had been. Apparently while the Coronamon was very good at his classes, he spent most of his time trying to score dates with other Digimon. Shoutmon blushed a bit at that remark. "Unless Skye is secretly a hopeless romantic, I have no idea where he got that from, heh..." He was pleased to hear that Rory was a good fighter and survivalist though, and that he was almost ready to graduate. "I better tell him to let me know when graduation is... I don't wanna miss that, and Skye and Luneth wouldn't want to either."
The red dragon Digimon watched as Owen gently scolded Matty and Jimmy for saying they intentionally held back in school. Didn't put a lot of confidence into Shoutmon's parenting skills, as he felt like he wouldn't be able to properly scold Luneth if he ever did anything bad. "How do you do it, Owen? It's been months since I've met Luneth and Rory and I still don't know the first thing about being a good dad."
Meanwhile, the Lekismon said hello to Kaya and Hawkeye, clearly knowing the two of them. If she hadn't revealed her name, Kaya might not have recognized her. "Luna? Oh my gosh, I didn't recognize you! Did you Digivolve?!"
"Hello, Luna. A pleasure seeing you once again."
Once the ship began to move, Owen asked his friends how they've been, while asking the newcomers what adventures they had been on. Adrian decided to speak first. "Let's see... we dealt with DATS a couple times, shut down a dangerous Digital Shift from a museum in Tokyo, faced against more bad Digimon... and the big one you probably already know about, Shoutmon and Skye have two sons now."
"Wait, what's a Digital Shift?" Kaya asked.
"Think of it like a small area where the two worlds connect, kinda like a bridge? The one we were in had raging dinosaurs in it, including a DinoHumon that really had it out for me and Adri."
"...and WHEN were you gonna tell me this?" Kaya responded, clearly upset about hearing that her brother figure was in serious danger at one point.
"Kaya, if I had known then... ugh, not the time and place for this, come on..." Adrian and Kaya would then break away from the group to walk to another area of the ship.
"I'm sure they'll work it out," Shoutmon said, trying to be optimistic. He turned around to the bow-wielding Hawkmon. "And I don't think we got your name yet. Mine's Shoutmon."
"Hawkeye," the bird Digimon said. "My name is Hawkeye."

Orcamon's reasoning was solid enough, at least for Dio to accept it without any further objections, even if he was still slightly dissapointed there wouldn't be any gunpowder related mayhem in the future, movies always made that look like a blast, pun intended.
Though the whole thing about trying to appear as unnasuming Rookies and Champions got him to consider a rather troubling thought: if things were to go south, would the boat even be able to stay afloat under the combined power and weight of a group of high level digimon, let alone survive more than one stray hit from a possible fight? That was certainly something to keep in mind on the off chance they had to face off against pirates or something even worse, but for now he rather not trouble himself with such grim hypothetical scenarios, much like how his brother didn't seem troubled about...anything really.
Except right now however, as he quietly kept firmly nodding his head every time someone introduced themselves, trying to commit every single name to memory. So many new people in a single day...
"Pleased to meet you all." He repeated one last time with a nod so strong it almost looked like a bow. He then would turn to Luna as she mentioned her healing powers. "Oooh, does that mean you could heal Dio if he got sea sick again?"
"It was just that one time..." The imp muttered under his breath in a somewhat embarrased tone, before turning back to face Owen.
"Ah come on Owen, having a little pride and self love never hurt anyone." Dio said once he was done scolding Matty, though he didn't feel comfortable adding anything else for a change, perhaps not wanting to seem like he was questioning the gaomon's parenting. That was completely unknown territory for him anyways.
Having said that he and Carlos both gave a shrug at the following question. Their life had been relatively uneventful since they had last seen, surprisingly enough.
"Not much actually. I took a bit of a break from adventuring to focus on some Earthly nonsense you know, bills and all that. These two apparently decided to get themselves a pupil meanwhile." The man said, shooting a quick glance at the twins, Gio's ears perking up at the mention of a pupil.
"You mean Mister Kitt? We did train him a bunch. Heh, he punched Dio really far by the end of it." He said with a smile, loudly patting his brother's head all the while. The impmon rolled his eyes a bit, but didn't stop him.
"I was holding back quite a bit during the match of course. Not that it matters, I'm still rather proud in how much progress he managed in just one day. That kid shows promise." He added with a content smile. Was he proud at himself over that achievement? Or was he proud for the Spadamon? Perhaps a bit of both. "What about you three?"
Gio meanwhile looked in Hawkeye's direction for a good while as he introduced himself. One could practically hear the gears in his head loudly turning for a moment as he tilted his head to one side, before asking in the most innocent tone imaginable,
"Hawk...eye? But you have two eyes, shouldn't it be Hawkeyes?"

Kaya had started petting the Gaomon calling him a good boy? Yeah that was pretty much how Luna remembered Kaya being on the island, though Luna didn't get pet and she was totally okay with that. Luna did overhear that they were posing as innocent merchant's, that did seem like a better idea, Luna knew a thing or two about keeping your best hidden from others, but she didn't have much more power then she had right now. She'd just hafta make up for it with her healing abilities and knowledge, should be helpful even if a stronger opponent is around. If it came down to it she could just use that spell she'd been practicing, but that was for life and death situation which she doubted she'd encounter around here.
The Gaomon acknowledged Luna's mention of being a healer, to which Luna smiled and gave a nod. "Yeah it comes in handy, surprised to hear you know some healing too, I'm glad to meet someone else who can heal, usually it ends up just being me. hehe." She couldn't remember the last time she met someone who had even a few healing tech, Dust had some but that was more draining opponents then actually healing. But as she said that one of the other digimon had mentioned seasickness. "Well I don't think my techniques would help but I know a bit about lessening it a bit, if you need to know just ask." She didn't know that much but any help would probably be helpful.
Then came Kaya noticing Luna's new form, when asked if she digivolved Luna let out a small laugh smiling as she crossed her arms, one finger on her head looking confused. "Huh, I dunno. I might've just randomly gotten taller." Luna teased a bit before lowering her arms. "Yeah, not long after I left the island also, I still don't have all my strength back but this is a good step." Dianamon was still far off and Crescemon didn't seem likely either, but Lekismon was better then Lunamon for sure. "Same to you Hawkeye, it's good to see you two again." Luna was gonna mention being friends but recalling Hawkeyes attitude on the island she figured she'd be better off playing it more lax, not everyone liked her bubbly personality after all.
Kaya seemed to get mad though while Luna addressed Hawkeye and stormed off away from the ship, Luna was about to go ask what was wrong but a question from Owen made her decided to stop. "Adventures, well I've been all over lately. I'm looking for someone, an Impmon with a pendent around his neck. I'm going to the Blossom isles actually to see if I can find any lead, I was gonna use a motorcycle I bought that can go over the water but.. Kinda hard to find an Island you've never been to after all." That and her natural ability to get lost would very much stop her in her tracks.
Then came the question Gio had for Hawkeye, which yeah he kinda had a point. Luna had wondered on their name a bit as well. "Why are you called Hawkeye anyway? Did Kaya give that name to you or something?" Luna recalled some tamers gave digimon names to make it easier on themselves, Luna only had one because...... She forgot.

Owen chuckled at Shoutmon's words. "Yeah, I know Skye too, I think Rory's just his own 'mon that wants to go a different path to his parents." he hypothesized, given that back when Skye was his Lieutenant, he would ask if she had been on the catnip if she acted like Rory did half the time. Owen knew her to be stoic, polite and formal, and not often try to woo potential romantic interests by laying on their desks with roses in her mouth like Rory did, more than once.
The Gaomon was delighted to hear that they'd be interested in attending the graduation. "Alrighty. In case they forget, I'll send you a message on Tamernet myself." he promised.
Owen was glad to get that praise from Luna about knowing how to heal. "Thanks. I'm considering making it a class for the young ones in Rosewood, only trouble is I can't do it in my Rookie form, but one day maybe I'll get the method down." he replied.
After Owen had scolded Matty, the Gaomon rather regretted it, given the reaction of some of the others there. Particularly Dio's. The atmosphere had become uncomfortable, and he noticed that Matty definitely seemed less happy now. Even though he apologized and he had accepted it, Matty still looked deeply hurt. Perhaps Owen had been too harsh on him? After all he was just making a throwaway brag, but, still, Owen made it clear to all his children that he didn't like it when they made up stories like that. When he saw Jimmy gently pat Matty's back, yeah, that nailed it home. Owen should have just let that pass. Later on, he was determined to have a gentle talk with Matty to apologize to him for humiliating him in public.
Owen was drawn back to the present when Shoutmon asked how to be a good dad. "Well, um..." the Gaomon was somewhat unsteady on his words, given that he had realized he had made a mistake in public and was trying to think of a way to rectify it. "Get to know your children first, that's the most important step." he replied. "Then make time for them."
How Owen did it with his own numerous children had been quite the challenge, but he had done the best he could.
Owen listened as they filled him in on their news. It seemed they had dealt with DATS, which he was made aware of a few times in the past couple of years. As well as dealing with a "Digital Shift". That was discomforting news. "I see... the instability of both our worlds seems to be getting worse lately." he mused.
Jimmy meanwhile perked up when Gio spoke of Kitt. "Oh, you've met him? That's awesome. Our brother Bezil told us about him and how they went on an adventure together." it was this that made Jimmy and Matty conclude that these guys were neat.
They then watched curiously to see how Hawkeye would react to these questions, given the twins thought that this Hawkmon seemed to be rather standoffish so far.
In the meantime, the ship had seemed to reach full speed as Whitewater faded from view, the winds carrying it along the waves.

Shoutmon nodded when Owen suggested that Rory simply wanted to go down a different path than either of his parents did. "Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. I never had parents so I just went down the path that seemed the most natural for me. I just hope he doesn't get into much trouble like I did."
In response to Shoutmon's question about being a good dad, Owen said that getting to know the children was the most important step, then he had to make time for them. Making time for Luneth was easy since he was studying in the human world, but Rory... was a challenge. Mostly because he stayed in the Digital World, and whenever he and Adrian go there he's usually doing something else and unable to hang out with them. It was gonna be a challenge indeed...
Owen listened as the duo had shared their story about the Digital Shift at the museum. He mused how the instability between the two worlds had increased. "That's not the end of it. Our friend from AEGIS shared his own story about a Digital Shift that formed inside of his school, filled to the brim with Numemon devoted to just making a mess out of the place."
"So what you're saying is one of these 'Digital Shifts' can just appear anywhere?" Hawkeye asked.
"As far as I know, yeah."
"That is concerning..."
Hawkeye actually smiled when it was revealed that they all had an ally in common, Kitt the Spadamon. "Kaya and I also know Kitt, he joined us when I was taking Kaya to Terminus City to send her home when she first came to the Digital World, and he saved me from a Mienumon's control." The Hawkmon turned to face Dio. "Although that part about him punching you has me concerned. He seems to only truly do that if you manage to upset or anger him significantly..."
Both Hawkeye and Shoutmon stared at Gio when he asked that question about Hawkeye's name, saying that his name should be "Hawkeyes" because he has two eyes. Shoutmon turned away and started laughing quietly while the Hawkmon continued to stare, trying to piece together the kind of Wonderland logic that the BlackGuilmon was using. "That's not... it isn't... I don't... what?" He basically gave up trying to form a response.
Luna asked a better question, however: why was he named Hawkeye? "I was... given this name by my late friend Eizo. I would prefer not to go into further details, if you do not mind, Luna." Meanwhile, Adrian and Kaya were discussing their own situation on the other side of the boat. Both had just learned that the other was a Tamer and that they each went through their own dangerous situations. They definitely needed this talk before they could go and join the others. "So... how long were you a Tamer for?"
"Over a year now. How about you?"
"Almost three... were you scared when you first came to the Digital World? Saw Digimon for the first time?"
"A little, yeah. Hawkeye was the first one that was nice to me... which is crazy, considering what he's like."
"Well, if you see the good in him, that's enough for me. I trust that you two will make the right decisions on your own Digimon journey, but I still can't help but wonder 'what if', you know? Just remember to always put faith and trust in Hawkeye no matter what. That's the most important thing you can do as a Tamer. Got it?"
"Yeah, I do... at least I don't have to hide this part of myself from now you."
"Hahah... yeah, same here. Come on, let's go join the others."

For a short moment, Carlos considered asking more information about these so called Digital Shifts, but eventually decided against it. They had picked this job precisely to take it easy and forget about such issues, if only for a day.
Didn't stop him from giving some of his thoughts about it, however, "Really, I don't remember a time when both our worlds were completely stable. If anything I'd be a lot more concerned if nothing was going wrong." He said, somewhat jokingly, though still trying to see the proverbial glass half full, in his own way at least. At least they weren't experiencing some cataclysmic event again for a change! Hopefully.
The young guilmon meanwhile was all too blissfully ignorant of such concerning news, too focused on the mention of Kitt from the others to pay any mind to anything else.
"If Bezil hanged out with Kitt then he's probably just as cool too, then!" He said with a confident nod, no doubt in his mind that his train of thought was as logical as it was sound.
"He's a good kid, couldn't be happier to have him choose me...us a teacher." Dio added with a smile, before turning to the hawkmon. "Oh trust me, I learned that the hard way. Let's just say my training involved tapping into some extreme emotions. Don't worry, he was perfectly fine afterwards." He reassured him. There was a lot more to it than that, but getting into the nitty gritty of it would take some time...and possibly earn him the ire of at least some of the people present, so he'd rather focus on the results.
"Better than Dio, at least." Gio added innocently, though with perhaps the smallest amount of snark in his tone, giving his shorter brother a knowing look and another pat in the head.
Luckily for Hawkeye the blackguilmon wouldn't press him for more questions about his puzzling name, as his attention had now quickly shifted to Luna's words, particularly those mentioning an impmon.
"Impmon with a pendant?" With that the guilmon reached for his brother's red scarf, carefully grabbing a hold of it while lifting it up...along with his smaller brother. After a quick scan of the imp's neck area however, he let go of him before turning back to Luna. "None here, lady Luna. Sorry."
"Somehow I doubt she was looking for me." Dio said, rolling his eyes as he readjusted his scarf back into it's proper place, trying to seem unfazed by his brother's borderline slapstick-y antics. It was something he had grown accostumed to by this point, but it was always just a bit aggravating to be on the receiving end of it nonetheless, at least in public.
"You never know."
