For Syre herself?
Well, it was hardly a 'long time coming' for her - but before the black cat had met Cion, Syre had definitely felt the sting of a lost opportunity in her heart. She knew 'love', of course: her family was a wonderful one, and the BlackGatomon was not lacking in friends and family in her upbringing. But she didn't know what it was like to have that special someone, to devote herself completely to. What had started as a 'fun little date' on Valentine's day had blossomed into so much more, and now?
Syre couldn't picture herself without this fox.
The feline held Cion close, nuzzling right against the fennec's cheeks. And as Cion neared, Syre found her lips pressing right against her love's, giving one more brief kiss to her.
"Mm... in this case, Cion, I don't think I'd mind a repeat gift." Syre teased, a blush trailing on her cheeks. Slowly, Syre started to sit up, letting her slightly stiff back and legs stretch out. "But if you're looking for ideas, your feline's got a bit of a sweet tooth." She gave her own stroke down Cion's back, nails gently dragging down Cion's fur, as the feline let out a longing sigh.
"... We gotta get up at some point. But I'm not sure if I feel like it." The cat chuckled, shaking her head.

The way her dearest managed to read every subtle wish that was implied, and fulfill it, was almost miraculous. A mere whisper of jocular suggestions was anew transformed into the marvelous sensation of their lips touch. It was ephemeral and soft, but that was one of many ways that Cion savored the acts of affection between them. Hence she giggled quietly and produced a gentle murr. Naturally, it did not come close to the magnificence of the onyx felidae's purr, but imitation was the sincerest form of flattery, was it not?
"Repeat gift, hmm? Well... now that is something I shall not misremember." The silver fennec stated teasinly as a faintly impish grin manifested itself on the edge of her muzzle. There it lingered for a moment as her aureate eyes beheld the rosy hue on her darling's cheeks appeared and eventually vanished. As if this false shame still deceived her, when in fact it did the opposite - it was beguiling. Yet the declared sweet tooth provided a couple of ideas. However, this was a train of thought for another time. Instead, she joined her partner and mercurially arose from her comfortable position to take a seat on their cozy mattress.
Of course appreciating the continued caresses she received from the charming BlackGatomon, she nonetheless knew that they indeed had to get up sometime. The occasional indulgence was certainly wonderful and healthy for body and spirit, but a relationship and home also meant some responsibilities. And though this was a day of leisure for the duo, there remained things that she wished to do. Fortunately, she was not a person that was considered idle by anyone. On the contrary - she enjoyed accomplishing her tasks, especially with utmost efficiency.
Playfully tapping the back of her dearly beloved, she leapt onto her feet. Moaning contentedly, she relished the pleasure of a long-lasting stretch; self-evidently not minding if she was looked on by a certain someone. With a flick of her fluffy white tail, she turned to face the comely feline and reached out a paw to her. "How about I provide an incentive. After we cleaned the sheets and ourselves, allow me to turn my apex predator's catch into a fine evening meal. You may accompany me if you so desire, but likewise I'd be happy to see you repose further. It's what my knight in shining armor rightfully earned... tihihi..."

"Mm... you should know better than to encourage the slothful nature of a kitten, Cion."
Syre found herself giving a chuckle. As Cion sprang to her feet, Syre moved to sit on the edge of the bed, taking a moment to sit up and stretch out her back. It was tempting to just recline the rest of the day, but without her darling Cion to accompany her, the feline lost most of her incentive for doing so. Besides, the moment that Syre sat up and stretched, she found that her stiffness loosened up quite quickly. It didn't take long for Syre to start to strip the bed of its sheets.
"Besides, fish might be one of the few things I'm more familiar with than you, start-to-finish. Holly taught me a lot about fishing, so we always had some to cook around the house. Its something I'd love to be in the kitchen for." And Syre wasn't going to easily give that up - but first things first. Syre's gloves joined the sheets and the pillowcases in the hamper, and the washing machine soon after, that tumbling noise echoing throughout the apartment.
Which left Syre to give Cion a scratch on the chin, tilting her head in the direction of the showers. Freshened up, today's events left Syre and Cion in the kitchen, in the early hours of the evening, moving to prepare their catch for tonight's supper. They had only brought back one fish, but to be fair, it was a well-sized salmon - easily weighing more than the two of them combined, and if well portioned, useful for at least one day's leftovers! Of course, the fresh catch came with a few extra steps, the kitchen sink flecked with pungent fish scales and skin. Their efforts would be rewarded, of course, with two bright red-pink flanks of fish, Syre idly testing their feel with a touch of her paws.
"There we go. Finally at a part where we can start thinking of how to cook." The cat gave a small laugh, nodding over to the fennec. "What do you think? Fried, baked, something fancy? We could try making half of one of these into sushi rolls, if we're feeling adventurous!"

Of course she knew better than to encourage the slothful nature of a kitten, but Syre was self-evidently the complete opposite! Her kitty was proactive and mature, and certainly deserved the spoiling that was intended for her. After all, she was a knight in shining armor, and more than that she was hers. Nonetheless, Cion gladly complied to her darling's wishes and pride. And if it was her hun's wish to assume control over their cuisine then so be it. And if it was also her desire for them to clean themselves together, then who was she to oppose such an enchanting yearning?
And once this day's past was left behind them, returning during the evening whence it started with its original impetus, they found themselves in their modern kitchen. The caught prey in front of them was truly worthy of a predator such as her dearly beloved BlackGatomon. Its size and weight were without doubt nothing to scoff at. Hence it took the couple a few minutes to remove the undesired bits and pieces, leaving them not only with additional messiness they had to tidy up, but also two grand fillets. If this was not a success story then she did not know what was.
Naturally, as the onyx felidae spoke up, the silver fennec's ears peaked to pay utmost attention to every word that was voiced. Softly folding her arms as to contemplate a response, she ultimately just shrugged and provided the comely feline with a teasing boop on her snub nose. "Well... since you ask, was there any fancy recipe in your family cookbook you can remember?" She asked, intrigued by the prospect of another of K's dishes. Moreover, this seemed like the option which would please her sweetheart the most!
Admittedly, she hoped it was nothing with raw fish. She preferred her meals well-done!

It seemed like Cion was going to defer to Syre on this one. With such a fresh fish in front of them, the feline found herself giving a grin, carefully moving to slice one of the fillets in half.
"Well, now that you mention it, there are a couple, though I think they would qualify as more 'homely' than 'fancy'." Syre didn't seem to mind it, however, as a nostalgic tone radiated clearly through the BlackGatomon's voice. "With three cats in the house, mom probably worked with fish more than anything else. We experimented a bit, but when it came down to what we all liked?"
The feline took out a pan, and dragged the spice rack closer to herself.
"Pan-fried. A good mix of butter, 'crunch', and fish, changing up the spices a bit each time to give each plate a bit of a different kick." Syre nodded, flashing a fang-filled grin to the fox. "It'll taste great, and we won't have to worry about anything too experimental or fancy. That said..."
Though Cion had a slight distaste for raw fish, Syre couldn't help herself with fish that looked this fine. She took a small cut near the end, making a makeshift piece of sashimi, popping the cut-off piece into her mouth to test the feel. With a nod, she'd grab a pot, and move to start some rice. "Yeah, if we don't at least try to make a few pieces of sushi out of this, I'm gonna be kicking myself later." The feline found herself giving a laugh! "Of course, let me know if you want to add anything else, love."

Homely, fancy - Cion considered those mere semantics with varying presentations, hence she playfully rolled her eyes before softly shaking her head. As long as the meal was pleasing to the eye, it was of no concern to her if it looked like a star, flower or wonder of the world. Besides, scent and flavor were exponentially more important! Or was it the togetherness she enjoyed with Syre? Actually, was there even a point in ranking these joys of her life? Probably not, but if there was someone who simply could not stop overthinking things then it was without doubt her.
Hastily casting these thoughts aside, she attempted to focus anew on the delightful nostalgia with which the onyx feline beamed. Checking this off as another success, a faint grin manifesting on her muzzle, the silver fennec listened to the easy recipe that was vocalized. Admittedly, it sounded rather spontaneous for spices were scattered, but that was hardly an issue. Nodding along, she was of course not blind to the fact that her darling savored an uncooked chunk of fish. Sushi, and all of its variation, were likely a delicacy to her. Hmm... was this what her sweetheart actually wanted?
Contemplating the idea, and what it was that she herself desired, she was quick to discard the latter as she took a glance into their steel blue refrigerator. "We lack seafood, kelp and alike for raw dishes. A few sauces would not hurt either - and marine salt." The unassuming fox stated almost in hushed whispers. Murring for a couple seconds, her white tail eventually flicked as she turned around to face her hun. "If you want, I can briefly go shopping while you prepare the fish." She suggested, curious to learn if that was the way her love preferred to do it.
Anything for her knightly apex predator, hehe.

Was Syre putting the cart before the horse here?
The feline's ear gave a flick as Cion spoke, hearing that their kitchen lacked more than a few of the necessary items to make a good piece of sushi. Kelp, wasabi, rice vinegar... really, the only thing they likely had in the kitchen was the soy sauce. "Hm..." There was definitely a sound of disappointment in Syre's voice, so Cion picking up on an idea to fix their predicament in the next moment put a smile on the feline's face!
"If you don't mind, that'd be great!" For all intents and purposes, Terminus might as well have been directly adjacent to Japan - the fennec likely wouldn't even have to venture to an odd grocery store to get the requested items. And of course, Syre could handle fish well enough on her own, already pulling out the necessary ingredients to get a good batter ready.
"Mm, but for a cut this thick, definitely going to have to finish you in the oven..." The feline muttered that last bit to herself. A nice crispy exterior, that gave way to a nicely cooked, pink fish steak in the middle... Syre was already picturing it in her head. And by the time Cion would come back, the hungry 'apex predator' was already at full force in the kitchen. The filet, battered and ready, stood nicely on a hot skillet, oil popping sporadically on the pan. She'd also already started a pot of rice, bubbling in the back, waiting in anticipation for the next set of ingredients to come - and while she was at it, why not have a pan on the side, frying up a few carrots and healthy vegetables, turning them into less-healthy but much-more-delicious cooked forms?
The feline's ear gave a flick as Cion returned, the BlackGatomon giving a smile and nod. "One good thing I'll say about this kind of home-cooking, it definitely makes the whole apartment smell great. Well, ma woulda said 'fishy', but great for cats, I guess." The cat gave a laugh! "Any trouble finding what we need at the store, love?"

Witnessing the disappointment in her darling's tone and facial expression was a pang akin to what vampire's suffered when a stake was lancinating their hearts. Briefly biting her lower lip, Cion sighed as she realized that it was indeed cold cuisine that her sweetheart preferred - at least pertaining to fish. Cursing her selflessness, the silver fennec eventually chuckled and accepted it for what it was. After all, it was her love's contentment which mattered most to her. Besides, if she dried and salted her own chunks of aquatic meat extensively, then she was likely to enjoy the meal as well...
... or so she had initially believed. Apparently and to her utmost delight, the onyx felidae was nonetheless eager to proof the delectability of her parental figure's cookbook. Was it pleasant nostalgia or care for her, or both, did hardly matter to the unassuming fox. Squealing with glee, she nodded firmly before rushing over to their wall-mounted terminal to retrieve financial means for her shopping tour. It was safer and more comfortable than running around with an Infini-Store - as expedient as these devices were. "I'll be right back!" She exclaimed cheerfully as she rushed towards their apartment's exit.
And as quickly as the vulpine lady had left she had returned with the remaining ingredients for a fine sushi, sashimi or whatever it was that her dearly beloved had in mind. Not feeling the need to announce her arrival for her audible movement was a sufficient giveaway, she hastily removed the paper bag's contents and put them on the kitchen counter. "No trouble in the slightest, hun. Your choice in domicile proved convenient anew." She responded kindly and with a confident smile, for it was the truth. Moreover, no effort was too much if it meant pleasing her comely knight in shining armor.
Almost in the same instance, Cion's snub nose began to twitch as she took in the marvelous scents that were manifesting in their modern abode. Few things were as literally mouth-watering to her as crisp vegetables and meats, and those were present in ample amounts at the moment. "Good thing that foxes like 'fishy' smells too, eh?" She asked rhetorically in jest. Grinning raptly, she stepped backwards and shrugged gently. It appeared that the candid feline had everything under control, so why spoil the broth? Naturally, she was there if any commands were issued.

Well, sure - with so much fish to work with, why should the two of them stick to just one option? Besides, their venture to make sushi or sashimi, though adventurous, might result in little more than piles of raw fish, rice, and seaweed that didn't pack together quite right, or perhaps off-tasting salmon cut against the grain. This left the fried fish as a solid foundation: something that would be remarkably difficult for Syre to screw up, and something the both of them could enjoy.
As Cion came back, Syre found herself glancing over at the counter. Kelp, various kinds of salt, even the proper vinegar. The feline gave a smirk, tail flicking at the sight of it all. Anywhere else in the Digital World, this might have been somewhat difficult to acquire, but here? The two had everything they need to try and make a few home-made rolls.
"Well, glad its not too overbearing!" With a small laugh, the feline would take the last steps she needed to on the current dish, carefully transferring the filet over to a baking sheet, letting it rest in the oven to cook all of the way through. The vegetable were left to rest on low heat, as Syre moved to wash her hands, and clear out a good part of the counter for their next adventure.
And for this, Syre motioned for Cion to step right on up. "Well, don't know how much experience you have with this, but..." Leaning her D-Terminal against the back of the counter, Syre scrolled through the steps, "... At this point, you know about as much as I do about preparing this sort of stuff. So I say, let's just go for these easy-looking sushi rolls." 'How hard could it be', she thought: it was just rice, seaweed, a bit of wasabi, and then fish overlaid on top, right?
Sounded easy - but, somehow, Syre thought she was underestimating the process.

Oh, Cion too was glad that the surrounding area of their domicile was not overbearing. She was not someone who enjoyed the urban sprawl, though she of course advocated civilization and community. Perhaps it was simply the 'efficient' aesthetics of Terminus, glass meeting stonework and marble, that left her dissatisfied with its appearance. Or maybe it was the separation of architecture and nature, whereas Rosewood united both quite well. But she had contemplated and voiced these impressions a long time ago, and the result of that was evident today. Anything for her dearly beloved. Besides, the vista at night was gorgeously agleam and colorful.
However, none of this mattered as she beheld the onyx felidae enjoy herself as the master chef who sought to turn their prey into a marvelous feast. The scents and aromas manifesting themselves in their abode were certainly promising! It seemed that K's cookbook provided plenty of delectable recipes. It was almost a shame that her new incarnation as Silence had likely no recollection of them. The silver fennec would have loved to learn from the paladin. But again, there was no point in losing herself in the past. Instead, she wished to savor the present.
With the fish in the oven and trimmings sizzling in their respective pots, she watched and eventually assisted Syre in freeing their workspace. Naturally, as an advocate of hygiene, she too cleaned her paws. Following that, the comely feline presented them with another option. "So zilch?" She asked rhetorically, which was followed by a hearty chuckle. As a lady who preferred her meals to be at least medium if not well-done, raw meats were hardly something she favored. Parfaits for breads were the only exception that came to mind, but those were usually dry and salty as to assure freshness.
"Well... who dares wins, right?" She exclaimed with an unsure shrug as she put what they needed on the counter, excluding the rice of for it was still in its pot. Briefly scratching her head, she first tried to furl a slice of kelp to get a feel for it. "It's like... making wraps or roulades I suppose?" She mostly spoke to herself, leaning forward as to carefully marinade the leaves with wasabi and other spices. Might as well give them an oomph if the texture would be smooth. Nevertheless, this was merely an initial attempt of hers.
Yet, for a moment, others thoughts that had entered her mind ceased to claim her focus. After all, even when utilizing her telekinesis, this was rather tricky due to the fragility and slipperiness of the dish. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable undertaking.

Zilch?
"Zilch." Syre confirmed Cion's words, adding in a laugh of her own as she shook her head. Really, the BlackGatomon had no idea how to make sushi, and as the pair would soon find out, really had no idea what they had gotten themselves into. Sure, on the surface it looked like it was as simple as making a wrap or a roll - but as the next several minutes would show, these rolls were not to be taken lightly.
The main problem? The rice! Too wet, and the centerpiece of the roll would find itself too loose, moving to form a small puddle on the plate. Too dry, and it wouldn't stick together at all - and as Syre found through a bit of experimentation, it was very easy to go overboard with the vinegar. Perhaps they could pretend to have a perfect roll for a few moments with Cion's telekinesis, but it would all fall apart a moment after the fennec lost her tension with it.
And honestly?
Syre loved every second of it.
Perfection was never on the BlackGatomon's mind when she suggested this in the first place - and if she knew how to do it from the start, why would she be looking up this at all? Throughout the whole process, the feline had a smile on her face, even as she was squinting to go back through the steps and try different things to try and make something out of all of this. Perhaps this wasn't something that they could pick up during the time it took to bake the fish.
In all, the pair managed to make four decent-enough looking rolls - managing to make something out of the rice nearer the bottom of the pot - though, each had their own defects, whether the rice patty had cracked down the middle or the fish was cut slightly against the grain. The pair had gained these three rolls, as well as a greater appreciation to those who made these all day in the outdoors, in Terminus' street market.
"There we go!" And Syre, with a giddy smile on her face, gave Cion a brief hug - ear flicking as she heard the timer go off on the oven. Right, right - she had to get the fried fish out, ready, and plated!

Usually, Cion's experienced mind was apt in making accurate estimations and suppositions, and acting accordingly. After all it was a skill that came with age if permitted to blossom, and despite her juvenescent appearance and childlike curiosity she had reaped the fruits of an elder. It had benefited her greatly in this admittedly young existence, and she was not quick to surrender it to rashness and emotional instability. However, neither was she foolish to claim infallibility and enlightenment, nor did she pursue this impossible destinations. Hence it was with a heavy sigh that she released her frustration that the task in front of her provoked.
"Well... shit happens." She stated with an evidently amused tone to her voice. Having a hearty chuckle as she beheld the four chunks of imperfection on the counter, she could not help herself but scratch her head in disbelief as one of her eyebrows turned skyward. How was it possible that they had failed so spectacularly, even when utilizing the precise telekinesis? This food simply had to be from a realm where common logic did not apply. Heck, it was so foul that it managed to make her cuss, which was probably a first for the silver fennec.
Briefly biting her lower lip, her aureate eyes swayed to her dearly beloved. Fortunately, it was clear that she had the time of her life! Maybe it was better to relax and accept their results for what they were - their initial attempt. Truth be told, aside from having flopped, the unassuming fox did not care a lot for the dish for aforementioned reasons. Still, in spite of the innumerable failures it had brought upon them, it had been an enjoyable experience. Then again, every moment with her comely partner was filled with serenity and bliss. Nonetheless... amusing.
Appreciating the embrace with a murr, Cion too noticed the timer of the baking oven. Allowing Syre to do as she pleased, she instead took to their dining table. Distributing silverware, she contemplated where to put it. "Do you prefer sitting adjacent or opposite to me?" She asked, personally liking either option for a variety of merits. Regardless of the answer, the deed was quickly done, and as the BlackGatomon dished up, her final thoughts fell on their 'creation'. "Those for dessert?"

'Shit' indeed happened, though in this case it was more of an inevitability than a misstep. At the very least, not much had gone to waste, and the pair still had more than half of the salmon filet, to freeze and preserve for future meals.
But today was the day when their catch was going to taste the most fresh. As Syre transferred the fried filet out of the pan, her ear flicked at Cion's question. "Mm, opposite. Feels much more natural to me." Syre chuckled, and nodded at her second question. "Mhm! Though I'm still looking forward to it, myself."
The feline chuckled, moving back to put her attention on the main course. It was here that Cion would see that she had quite the influence on Syre - if not with her cooking, then definitely with her presentation. The fried filet were placed right on top of a small bed of lightly seasoned rice, a leafy fried vegetable used as a garnish, as the buttered-and-cooked carrots were placed right on the side. It was nothing too complicated, but more thought was put into the plating than even just a month ago. The plates were soon brought to the table, each alongside a small, cold salad.
It didn't take long for Syre to sit down opposite of Cion, give her love a nod - and start to dig right on in. As Syre had expected from her sample earlier, this was definitely quite the catch, the flavor showing up right through the breading and the seasoning. "Mm. Nothing like a self-caught fish, really." With a grin on her face, Syre went in for another bite, tail flicking gently behind her. Manners and poise aside, these were two hungry Digimon - and they had been waiting a long while to dig their fangs into this dish!

With that, at least for the time being, all questions were answered and the charming duo did as they desired. Hence Cion remained quiet as she beheld Syre dish up in a way that she had not anticipated. Both of them did not care too much about the presentation of their dishes, as long as they were flavorful and plentiful. Nonetheless, the precision that the onyx felidae utilized created an aesthetic harmony that was delightful to her aureate eyes. Was this the silver fennec's positive influence blossoming within the knight in shining armor? A pleasing sentiment...
The grilled fish filet, the seasoned rice beneath it, was adjacent to a bed of beautifully soft carrots. It was indeed simple, but the mixture of the meals glistening texture and faint steam surging away from it was without doubt a sight that enticed her. In fact, and it was something she barely noticed, she had licked her lips once as it was typical for a hungry canine... or vulpine in her case. Regardless of semantics, the desire they shared was self-evident. With the alluring scent of their late lunch caressing their noses, it was but right to take a seat.
"Bon appétit." She sincerely wished her dearly beloved, for which she received a confident nod as they carried rapt smiles. And how correct she was, for the unassuming fox was positively famished at this point - the boon and bane of an accelerated metabolism that her form imposed. Sampling each individual part, and then everything in unison, she eventually nodded and sighed contentedly. "Agreed. By all means we should do this regularly." She suggested with a hearty chuckle, for she was possibly referring to the entirety of this marvelous day.
Nevertheless, well-earned credit was due. "A chorus of praise for my apex predator." Cion exclaimed, which was naturally met by the comfortable tranquility of their abode. Giggling nervously if playfully, she figured that the lack of a cheering crowd was probably for the better. And as the minutes passed them by, with the lovebirds savoring their opulent fare, the ladylike mammal was unable to help herself and occasionally flashed a shy glance at her darling. Not to gawk at her while eating of course. That was unbecoming behavior. No... it was just difficult to hide the blissful serenity she experienced, as was her wish to let her dearest know that it was her achievement.
Still, as they were halfway through and the silence of their dinner table manifested itself, there was again this thought which pervaded her awareness. If her sweetheart was to return her gazes, then her pondering expression was as obvious as the color of the sky. Was she supposed to speak up about it and suffer the ramifications? She was honest and did no longer wanted to be anxious, but maybe this was not the ideal moment. "I..." She paused, biting her lower lips as her head tilted in every conceivable direction. "... was thinking. I can talk with you about everything, not dear?"

Cion's compliment was met by much more than the silence of their abode, Syre's own giggle adding right onto Cion's. "And my praise for the fennec who was able to 'sniff out' all of these spices." With a toothy grin flashed, it didn't take long for Syre to dig right on in, reveling in the day's events. From start to finish, every hour of this day shone brightly for the feline.
She was more than content to sit back and enjoy the meal at hand, but from moment to moment, Syre noticed that Cion's gaze was settling on her. There wasn't a negative tone to it - no, this was something more 'quizzical', the BlackGatomon figured, as if something had popped up in her sweetheart's mind. It seemed like a passing thought at first, but the longer they ate, the more Cion seemed distracted from her meal - until she finally decided to speak up, an almost nervous flick in the Arniomon's expression.
Setting down her fork, Syre gave a nod. "Well, of course." The cat gave a nod. The smile was gone from Syre's expression, unsure of the seriousness of what Cion was saying. Was this something that Syre should be troubled with? Was it a question that Cion found difficult to say in normal conversation? Or, perhaps, was Cion concerned about something of Syre?
It was better to air out these questions, than simply keep them locked up!
"Well, let me hear it, hun." Syre gave a smile. "What's on your mind?"
