"So..."
"Hmm?"
"... What does being 'your human' mean, anyways..?"
It wasn't too long, after Mimi and Andrei had met, during that alleyway encounter with the Flarizamon. Though Andrei and Fiona caused a bit of a worrisome fuss from their boss, he was otherwise able to finish off his workday after being patched up; bandages wrapped around his forearms. Though the claw wounds underneath were still sore, he could easily ignore it as long as he didn't bump his arms into anything. All the while though, he'd also spend some time getting to know the ModokiBetamon-X who had helped them and proclaimed him to be 'her human' - something he didn't understand quite so well, which would lead to now.
They both would be seated together, on a subway that ran through Terminus; a city this big pretty much required it, else getting from Point A to Point B in a timely fashion was near impossible. Nearby, other digimon could be seen in their seats - mostly rookies and smaller champions, and even a couple in holosuits - as they minded their own businesses for the most part.
Mimi and Andrei, though, would have their attentions on eachother for the most part; Andrei tilting his head, as he asked his question. "... I... remember bits of what I was told before, about me supposedly having a digimon partner out there, when I realized I had this thing..." Briefly, he'd gesture with the digivice in his hand, to indicate it. "... But I don't really know what it means, to have a digimon partner, or to be 'your human', or to have this. I'm kind of a fish out of water, over all of this." Briefly, Andrei would wonder if a digimon would understand a saying like that, but he'd stop himself from asking; it was likely that Mimi would, at least, get the idea of what he meant.
Mimi, initially, would be quiet - thinking over his words, and what her response would be. If she were honest, she wasn't really all that sure what being paired with a human would mean for her, either; especially given that she only had gossip made about tamers to go off of. All she knew, really, was... "... Well, humans are able to make their digimon partners stronger somehow," She'd confidently remark with an upwards tilt of her chin; too prideful to outright admit that she didn't know what that 'how' was. "You stick with me, I keep you safe, and you make me powerful! It's that simple; even a Numemon could understand that much!"
Andrei, admittedly, was a little skeptical over it being 'that simple'; though the way that Mimi would puff her chest, as a ModokiBetamon-X, did prompt him to chuckle and nod. It was probably easier to go along with her than to try to argue, anyways. Still... He kind of wished he had someone else, to help fill him in some, on how this all was supposed to work. Glancing about the car he was in as the subway came to a stop (though not at their stop,) he'd see as it began filling up with passengers. Curious, Andrei would idly watch to see what all sorts of digimon would board with him and Mimi. Perhaps he could try reaching out to Karin, at some point, for some advice...?

A long couple hours of study and an even longer day of wandering around picking up various parts for this order. But it was all said and done now! The large speaker like device sitting nestled against the mans head. It had taken him quite some time to figure out what the andromon had wanted. Some kind of item that would help keep away birds from a very particular project out in the boones.
But the issue was that getting to that part of town with something of this size in tow would normally be an issue. An issue that was quickly addressed by the fact that there were trailmons running all over the damn place. All he had to do was find the right one and well… The man would be set for this delivery.
Stepping onto the trailmon the man glanced around; there were plenty of rookies and champions here. Some spared him no attention while others couldn’t help but stare. Adults in the digital world were very rare, or at least adults of his stature were. Most people that came here were much shorter, much younger and often more than not were… well not really far into adulthood.
That being said?
There was one such individual that matched that. Along with some kind of Betamon he didn’t recognize. If he had to place their age he’d probably go on the young side. But it wasn’t polite for him to stare too long. So he’d just take a seat across the way from the two; setting the large speaker like device down on the seat next to him.
He’d pull out his phone to quietly check the time; seeing as he wasn’t going to be late he had to admit he was grateful for the trailmon system. Back when he had first started out charting this nonsense inside of a city was crazy given the speed the trailmons would go. But now?
”Kinda nice…”
He’d snort to himself and close his phone; the flip phone was a brick compared to most other bits of tech around here. But it did everything he needed to when doing deliveries. The man leaned back in his seat and idly looked out of the window; not terribly interested in what was going on here or there as it sped on by...

As digimon filtered in and out of the car, Andrei would lean back in his seat with a gentle sigh; soon eyeing his digivice in his hand once more. "How did you know that I was your human, anyways?" He'd question - tilting the device from side to side. On the screen, the little arrow indicator it had pointed straight to Mimi - confirming that she was, indeed, his partner. But while he had this little indicator to know for sure that Mimi was his partner... What did Mimi have, to confirm that he was her partner as well?
The little ModokiBetamon-X, in response, would simply shrug a bit. "I just, sort of decided it!" She'd say, continuing "Most of you humans that I'd run into already had partners; so I figured that the first human without a partner I ran into would be free game for me." Briefly, she'd gaze to Andrei out of the corner of her eye, and grinned, adding "I don't know whether to call you letting your arms get clawed up like that brave, or absolutely dumbshit, though."
Well, that was slightly backhanded, wasn't it? Either way, Andrei would nod - wondering if it was fate that paired them up, and it was simply coincidence that Mimi decided to make him her partner on sight... Or if it was the other way around, in that the sheer fact that she would decide he was hers was what made the digivice decide that she was going to be his partner?
Either way though, Andrei wouldn't have much time to ponder this for himself; it not being long, before someone stepping onto the subway would catch his and Mimi's attentions. An older - and much larger - man would come into the car; a human, or otherwise human-looking individual, carrying what looked to be a large speaker with him. On one hand, Mimi was visibly interested; looking whom she was pretty sure to be a human up and down.
But on the other hand, Andrei was rather intimidated. This man, whoever he was, was big and strong-looking; and the scars didn't help in the matter of making him look like he spent his evenings fighting bears. Hell, if Andrei didn't know any better, he'd think that this was some Yukaza member sitting across from him! Regardless of whether this man was actually part of a gang or not though, Andrei would quickly avert his eyes down at his shoes; not wanting to start anything.
Mimi was undaunted, however; and after looking Kan up and down for a good few seconds, would question rather bluntly "Don't got a digimon with ya, buddy? Wandering 'round Terminus on your own like that's just asking for a digimon to try mugging you."
Andrei stiffened and jolted a bit in surprise at Mimi's blunt remark; and sideeyeing her, was quick to speak up, murmuring "Maybe we, uhm, shouldn't bother him, Mimi... He looks like he can hold his own far better than I could."
"Just saying." The ModokiBetamon-X shrugged nonchallantly. If this other guy wanted to make a fuss about her remark, that was his problem - not her's or Andrei's - and he could get over it, in her opinion.

Kan was aware of the eyes that were on him; human or not. Youth or not; it wasn’t hard to notice that Andrei and mimi were doing exactly that. Though the young man seemed a bit intimidated, looking down at his shoes while the betamon looked clearly interested in the ‘lone human’. Maybe they were a younger pair or perhaps the digimon was trying to figure out what spirit the human had.
All of that went out the window though when the betamon bluntly asked about why he was wandering around terminus. Something about mugging? Kan let out a low chuckle and shook his head. He wasn’t bothered by that assumption at all and would raise up his digivice. It was a lot different than most of the kids running around now days.
”I’ve got my spirit along with me. So I’ll be fine. That and most folks are more startled to see a human of my size to try anything right away.”
Kan gave a shrug and shifted in his seat; so these two probably didn’t know much by what he could tell. Most tamers would have at least run into one or two spirit users if you gave it enough time. But… these two with the way that the human reacted to his partner’s blunt question?
They were new. So he had to ask…
”How long have you two been partners? A week or two at most?”
A week or two in the digital world was only a couple days in the human one; so if that was the case he could probably point out a few dozen things. He didn’t seem bothered by the question or the attention. In fact he seemed… well oddly friendly. Maybe it was because he was just used to this sort of thing… or maybe he was just a pretty chill guy.
Either way?
”and it’s not like I’d just randomly fight a pair of strangers on a train. Real good way of getting kicked off of em. They really don’t like it when their passengers fight one another. Take it from someone that has had to before.”

A... Spirit? That Kan spoke English was a pleasant enough surprise on its own; Andrei was so used to only really being able to understand (or be understood by) other digimon, that he almost had to doubletake (and resist the urge to cry in relief) at hearing Kan speak English. Yet, all that aside, he also was a bit surprised and curious as to what a spirit had to do with all this. Andrei could see that he had a digivice - though it was very different from the few that he'd seen before, including his own - so he wondered if he meant 'spirit' as in a ghostly digimon partner, like a Bakemon.
Mimi, though, would comment more on the second half of Kan's remark - barking a laugh and responding "No fuckin' kidding on that size; you look like a Titamon's humansona, with a look like that! You eat enough nails and milk this morning, buddy??" without even a second thought; prompting Andrei to cast her a confused look.
"Human...sona...?" He would question, tilting his head a little like a bewildered puppy. Was that a thing, in the Digital World?
"Heard of it being some kind of weirdass fad that was 'round for awhile, after humans really started becoming more known 'round here." The ModokiBetamon-X would respond, waving her claw in a casual fashion. "Digimon paying big bucks to get a custom made holosuit of their 'sona and whatnot down to the littlest detail, to show off to others." Before long though, Mimi would scoff a bit and roll her eyes, concluding "If you ask me though, that's a damn waste of bits when you could just pick a random holosuit and roll with it."
... Huhm. Andrei wasn't sure what to say to all of that, honestly, (besides the resemblance to a certain human world community at least) so he'd simply nod.
As Kan asked about how long the two had been together for though, Andrei would respond next - clearing his throat a little. "We, uhm... Met today, just after noon, actually." He'd admit; scratching his cheek a little. "I've been in the Digital World for awhile - wouldn't be able to tell you how long - but this is my first day that I've actually had a Digimon partner..."
"I saved his ass from getting beat in by a Flarizamon," Mimi remarked quite pridefully, puffing her chest out. "That Damedamon-spawn didn't even know what hit 'em!"
Briefly, Andrei wondered whether it'd be worth mentioning that they had to make a run for it as opposed to Mimi actually winning, though he'd decide to let Mimi have her 5 seconds of fame and keep his mouth shut for now. It probably wasn't hard for someone to tell that this was more to this story though, by the sheepish and awkward smile he had on his face. "Y-yeah," He'd murmur with a light chuckle, adding "Kinda, had a bad run-in, while me and my co-worker were on lunch. Is why my forearms are bandaged up like this," as he gestured accordingly.

Kan was at least glad that the two across from him understood him well enough; living in japan he knew that japanese was used as a primary mode of communication. But hearing the betamon remark on him looking like a titamon’s humansona? He chuckled lightly and leaned on the stereo; giving it a small pat.
”I’ll take that as a compliment. It was pretty rare when I started out but yeah now days it’s something you get to see more on the regular. Haven’t met one that’s been too keen to show it off as of late though. Might be because I’m just not meeting the right people.”
Hearing that last bit kan just gave a shrug; some people just had the bits to spare and how could he judge that?
”You could; but at the same time I understand why they’d go for it. Feels more personal and less like a second skin. My Ex-wife has one and she uses it all the time still.”
That being said, gretal also loved the human world and everything there. More than not she’d fight over having to go to the digital world just to watch the shop for a day or two. Hearing that the two in front of him had only met just after noon prompted Kan to check his watch. Raising a brow out of surprise.
”Huh. A rookie beating a champion? Not unheard of but it is certainly rare.”
Kan’s eyes flicked to Andrei’s arms when he gestured to them; hopefully they treated them right or that would be nasty in terms of infection. He’d shift in his seat a little bit. Looking a bit more relaxed than before.
”Well. There’s plenty of cheap hospitals around here if you need to stop by one. They're used to humans checking in more often than you'd think... Oh. Right.”
Kan snorted at himself and gave a shake of his head. Talking to this two he had almost forgotten the most important thing!
”Name’s Kan. Mind if I ask for your names? And where are yah off to? Terminus is a big enough place as it is without knowing where you are or where you’re going.”

"If you ask me, it's probably because there's rarely any point to wearing a holosuit in the Digital World, and because nobody's too dumbshit to mention that they're wearing a holosuit in the Human World." Mimi would remark dryly in response, shrugging back at Kan as she folded her limbs underneath herself. "Or, at least, I'd sure as hell hope that noone's too dumbshit to admit to wearing a holosuit. Tell the wrong person, and you'll get DATS on your ass faster than an angry Kinkakumon's club meets someone's face."
That was... An interesting way to put it, Andrei supposed, scratching his cheek a bit. He'd never actually seen DATS for himself, but he had a rough idea of who they were from basic gossip, and it seemed as though local digimon had a variety of different opinions on the matter. Some disliked or even hated DATS, others were neutral or otherwise tolerant, and then there were others who sympathized with or even praised DATS for their work; though most seemed to lean to negative or neutral opinions overall.
With all the divided opinions though, and with how he was yet to actually see DATS in action, Andrei wasn't sure of where he stood with them.
Not that he'd have a chance to linger on the thoughts of DATS for long, though. Kan would soon bring up how his ex-wife had a custom holosuit that she used all the time, and the two would nod along with it - though it didn't take long for them to start actually processing what Kan said. His ex-wife wore a holosuit - which, it'd likely be pretty pointless for a human to have a holosuit. Did that mean...
"... Daaamn, was your ex-wife a digimon, then?" Mimi would question rather abruptly; Andrei casting her a look as if to say 'is that really an appropriate subject??' The ModokiBetamon-X, though, would only continue talking - remarking "Never heard of a human and a digimon dating, or even getting married, but I should've figured that it'd happen at some point."
Andrei was next to speak up then; murmuring with an awkward wince "I don't know if this is really an appropriate subject to bring up, Mimi..." as he glanced over to Kan, trying to judge the larger man's reaction. Ex-wife implied that this might be a touchy subject for Kan, if Mimi were to push too hard on it - and he'd much rather not upset the guy, even if Kan appeared to be chill at the moment.
Mimi, though, would wave a claw in a dismissive fashion. "Whatever, I'm just saying, and I'm sure it's fine; he wouldn't have brought her up if he didn't wanna talk about her." She'd remark; figuring that it was Kan's own fault, if he did start taking offense. "You'd think you'd hear about digimon and humans hooking up more often, though, with how much both races mingle nowadays."
Before long though, Kan would bring up the subject of the hospitals in the area - to which Andrei smiled reassuringly, responding "It's fine; I appreciate it, though. My arms're all patched up, at this point it's just waiting for them to heal."
And Mimi, in regards to the comment of a rookie beating a champion, would have puffed her chest out quite pridefully. "He's lucky I stepped in before he got any more shredded up, heh!"
As Kan introduced himself, Andrei would nod in response; smiling warmly and extending a handshake. "My name's Andrei, nice to meet you, sir." He'd respond, continuing "We're just heading out to a sandwich shop for dinner - it's apparently a hole-in-the-wall place my coworkers have been raving about lately, so I figured we'd stop by there and give it a shot."
"And my name's Mimi," The aforementioned dragonfrog would introduce herself next, adding "Andrei's also been wanting us to get to know each other a bit better, by having dinner together." in a more dry tone, as she shifted in her seat. "I don't see why we need to know more about each other beyond 'I protect you, you make me stronger,' though. But I've been rolling with it, in any case."
Eyeing the stereo that Kan had set next to him though, Mimi would next question "The hell's up with that bigass speaker that you've been lugging around about, anyways?"

”There are a few reasons, given that the digital world itself has a signal it’s fairly difficult to ascertain that a disguised mon is exactly that. So if you’re looking to do some spying or are in the business of assassination… Well. It’s hard to tell from a glance that a ‘human’ is a threat. Many digimon don’t and the ones that do mention that ‘hey this is my holosuit!’ are usually just showing off to their friends. In the human world? Well. It’s pick who you want to know it’s not really your skin. As far as DATS are concerned, as long as you’re not stirring up trouble they seem to be content to just monitor you up until you’re a threat. At least they’re not like old DATS who liked invading the digital world, killing mons that didn’t work with them or… well in some cases kidnapping mons and humans alike.”Kan knew how old DATS worked and the new one was far less extreme. Something that he felt was needed in the new world. After goldenweek their job was getting even harder and he didn’t hate DATS; he understood them and he had once shared their worries when his partner at the time was a toxic dragon. Hearing Mimi’s question he’d give her a nod. ”Yeah. Purely a business relationship; though dating and marrying your bodyguard is usually frowned upon.”Kan would muse a bit and show his phone to the other two. Her regular form was a weregarurumon-x and the other…? Well was quite an A looker or at least that’s what kan seemed to think. Why did he have these images on his phone? Probably because he had to tell people to keep an eye out for her if she was doing deliveries! ”It’s been frowned upon for a long time but I personally don’t give a flying rats ass. I’ve been through too damn much to care what people think of my personal life.”Kan gave a small nod of his head at hearing andrei would be fine. If he needed it he was pretty sure that he could help him if they worsened during this. He’d blink after a moment and reach out to accept the handshake; his hand practically dwarfing the others. ”Nice to meet you two. And… A tamer digimon relationship is so much more than that. It’s the tip of an iceberg that if I got into it we might be here all week hah.”Kan paused and glanced down at the stereo; he’d give it a small pat. A small smile spreading on his lips; oh that would make sense… they didn’t know him. ”I’m an engineer and mechanic by trade. So people commission me for all sorts of things in the digital world. An andromon down in the boones wants a speaker that’ll help keep some birds away from the crops he’s trying to grow. They keep on pecking at them so I devised a sound system that emits a frequency that is very annoying to them. It’ll keep them from just his rooftop.”He didn’t seem particularly proud of the device but hey he was getting paid and he couldn’t really argue on that. He’d fold his hands on his lap, looking somewhat curious. ”So you work in the digital world Andrei? Or is this restaurant out in the human one? I hope if it’s the latter you have a disguise for mimi here...”

"Even if a digimon can't 'sense' your own signal, there's plenty who got the nose for sniffing you out, if you're not careful." Mimi pointed out, gesturing a claw to her own nose to get the point across. "A holosuit just hides what you look like; not that you reek of digimon, as opposed to reeking of human. And sometimes, not looking like a threat will put you in even more danger than actually looking like a digimon that can hold their own."
"Take it from me, some jackasses got nothing better to do with their time than harass the weak, just so that they can feel like they're a badass for once in their pathetic lives; and there's nothing weaker, in many digimons' eyes, than a human. Wearing a holosuit makes you a prime target for those no-lives, really." The ModokiBetamon-X remarked, her expression looking grim. "And at that point? Taking off that holosuit of yours is just gonna make you look all the more suspicious, unless you can play it off right. You get into a situation of damned if you do, damned if you don't."
This particular topic was starting to get a bit serious, huhm... Andrei would scratch his cheek a bit awkwardly as he listened to the duo speak - not having enough context or knowledge to really comment on the conversation. He knew what a holosuit was, sure, but he didn't have any reason to really pick one up, being a human. It also sounded as though Mimi had a bit of a history to her - though what, exactly, Andrei wasn't sure. Instead of speaking up though, he'd glance down at his bandaged forearms briefly; pondering to himself.
Nothing weaker than a human, huh...
As Kan showed the duo what his ex-wife looked like though, the both of them would be equally curious - Mimi whistling a bit. "Damn, she looks quite like the tough bitch." She'd remark in regards to the WereGarurumon-X photo. Andrei blinked a bit, though, and glanced over at Mimi; wondering if that was an intentional pun or not.
(Hopefully Kan didn't take offense to that, though.)
Nonetheless though, Andrei nodded along; musing out loud "She is certainly pretty..." as he saw her holosuit. Though, it did make him wonder if a holosuit would be a proper way to judge one's beauty; especially given it was probably pretty easily to switch them out... Was it something like makeup or clothing, for a digimon?
In any case, Kan would soon describe Mimi's idea of her relationship with Andrei as being the 'tip of the iceberg'; something that'd make the ModokiBetamon-X tilt her head a bit, raising an eyebrow. "The hell do ya mean by that? I can't see why the relationship would be any more than that, when you boil it down." She'd question, trying to think to herself about what Kan might mean.
Andrei, though, seemed genuinely curious, glancing up to Kan. "Even if it's only a little bit, I'd kind of like to know what being a tamer means, Kan sir." He'd speak politely, continuing "As it is, I admit I don't really understand my place in us being partners, or how I'm supposed to make Mimi stronger. Even a little bit of an idea would be nice, really..."
"It can't be that complicated, if every bozo with a partner can do it, yeah?" Mimi commented in response, rolling her eyes a little.
And at the question as to where Andrei works, and where this restaurant was, the young man would nod a bit. "I work here, yeah; at a spa that's not too far from a couple stops back." He'd mention with a slight smile. "And yeah, the sandwich place is here in Terminus, so we don't need to worry about any holosuits... I'd offer you to come with, but you're probably busy with that sound system business."

”In my experience not everything is foolproof, but some things work and some things don’t. Just depends on where and when you use it. You have a point but also just being smart about it helps.”
Kan wasn’t saying that mimi was wrong; but he wasn’t agreeing completely with her. He understood where she was coming from and the man drummed his fingers on the stereo again. There was a bit that he had to work with here. It seemed to him that the ModokiBetamon-x had a chip on her shoulder about this particular topic and really without much more to say about it he’d just let it drop if she did the same thing.
The comment about his Ex-wife made the man laugh and he just shook his head. A rather big grin on his face from that. Gretal would have agreed. She did look like a ‘tough bitch’. Given that well… She technically was one? It was one of those weird things that you could just laugh off if you felt like it but he knew that she’d be into that.
”Pretty, Tough. And certainly exactly that. She’s not just looks either; smart and certainly far more dangerous than you’d expect. Even if she’s just perfect level.”
Kan paused at the question mimi posed; what would the relationship be other than that? He’d consider for a moment and then he’d rub at his chin; so she certainly didn’t know a lick about what being a tamer’s mon meant. And… following suit Andrei asked for kan to explain what being a tamer implied. He didn’t really understand it and after a few long moments Kan chuckled.
”Meaning that it’s more than andrei just being a human battery for you. And sure I can give you some tips, or explain it a little better.”
He did indeed have something to attend to; that being the sound system for the andromon. But given that he wasn’t due there for a bit.. He could easily just help out these two and then be on his way. Though lugging around the system for longer than need be…
”Oh. Right. I always forget I have this.”
Kan grumbled a bit and pulled out a small blue cube; he doubted that either of them would recognize it. But a moment later he’d be pushing the sound system into it. The item vanishing in thin air before he’d stuff it back into his pocket.
”Infini-storage. Something I’d suggest getting if you don’t already have it. Mine’s an older model so it doesn’t hold as much. I can tag along for a little bit; got a lot of wiggle room with robot digimon.”
He’d shrug a bit; sandwiches sounded nice right now and after lugging that system around he certainly was working up an appetite. He’d shift in his seat glancing between the two for a moment.
”So while the basics aren’t necessarily complicated and every ‘bozo’ can get to a point… there’s a lot of stuff that you’d be surprised to hear about. That being said; let me just ask the both of you a really sort of simple question. What is your goal? Together and individually.”

Andrei was more than a human battery? Mimi almost responded 'of course he is' automatically; cause it seemed kind of obvious that a human had a lot more to them than just that, and it was in Mimi's nature to snark over the obvious remarks. And yet... All the same, the ModokiBetamon-X couldn't help but hold her tongue, when she also thought over the fact of just... That seemingly being the only way that Andrei could help her, really, off the top of her head!
He didn't seem all that bright or clever, for all of his friendly and sunny nature, beyond the basic common sense; and humans were fragile as well, so it wasn't like he could fight alongside her in any direct way. (Hell, after having seen Andrei get himself hurt by another digimon even before she had met him proper, she couldn't help but briefly wonder if defending a human would be more or less trouble than the power they supposedly give is worth!) And it wasn't like he really had any shiny gadgets, either, besides his digivice - which both of them were still figuring out for the most part!
So, really, what role could Andrei play, besides as a battery?
The offer of tips and an explanation though, would be met with a nod by Andrei. "That'd be really nice, thank you." He'd respond with a sheepish yet grateful smile in Kan's direction. "I hope it wouldn't be too much trouble for you, Kan sir?" It sounded like the older man was on a schedule; so Andrei didn't want to take up too much free time or make him late to anyplace!
As Kan brought out the Infinistore out though, Andrei would perk up a bit, before nodding. "I've got one on me; it's been pretty handy." He'd mention, gesturing to his shoulderbag, where he was keeping his own Infinistore. It was where he kept larger objects like his guitar, as well as the miscellaneous things that he didn't need to whip out on a dime such as his house and car keys. (Really, he was pretty sure he wasn't going to be needing those for a long while...)
"I should probably grab one for myself, at some point." Mimi mused out loud; realizing that she never did grab one ever since she digivolved to a Rookie. Or a lot of her usual gadgets, really; though she wasn't sure if she really needed a grappling hook right now, or any bionic limbs.
Though, before long, Kan would sit down to start talking about how being a Tamer and Partner Digimon worked; prefacing all of this with a question as to their goals. The duo, initially, were quiet and contemplative - considering their respective answers to their questions.
Andrei would be the first to speak up though, being up front and honest. "To be honest, initially, I just kind of wanted to go home. However, I don't live in Shibuya - though it probably is pretty obvious - I actually lived all the way out west, in Louisiana." He'd speak, scratching the back of his head a bit. "I'm still learning to speak Japanese, though; and I don't imagine that anyone would hire a guy who can't speak a lick of Japanese, and isn't even a citizen in the first place. But..."
"... To be honest, while I do still wanna go home... I feel like I also have an obligation, to be here for Mimi, since she's my partner." Glancing down at the digivice, Andrei would almost hope that the little electronic would offer some form of answers - though it, as before, remained silent; and so he'd soon turn his gaze towards Mimi. "... I don't wanna abandon her if she needs me, it wouldn't feel right. It's just that I don't understand the whole deal yet, which is why we're having this talk, 'course."
For a moment, in hearing all of this, Mimi would be... Awfully quiet. She knew Andrei to be rather honest to a fault - and he had no reason to be lying about his answer, either. And yet, even all that being said... She couldn't help but feel an unpleasant twinge in her heart, at Andrei saying that he wasn't going to abandon her.
Nonetheless though, she had her own goal to answer with - though while Andrei was up front about it all, the ModokiBetamon-X would be a lot more brief about it all. "I just want to get stronger." She'd state simply, glancing aside as she seemed to refuse to elaborate further. Her true and deeper intentions were none of their business; neither of them needed to know that she was seeking any sort of revenge, or to otherwise reclaim her own pride and dignity. "And I'll protect him for as long as I gotta, to achieve that."

Kan gave a small dismissive wave at the thought that this would be any lick of trouble for him. The older man might of had a drop off today but helping out someone like this would be reasonable enough to put off for… maybe an hour or so? After all the andromon had stated that they wouldn’t be setting their garden back up until he got there so as long as he shot them a text that he’d be a little late he was sure that he was fine.
”Not at all. As long as I tell them I’ll be running a little late or so. Gotta keep a eye out for the kids so to speak.”
The man chuckled knowing that the other might have been younger than him; but wasn’t exactly a child. He’d lean forward a bit; glancing to where the other kept theirs. A shoulderbag was far more inconspicuous. He used to have one that was in a briefcase but… people started questioning him about it so he just avoided it out in the real world.
”They are pretty handy; most shops carry an assortment of things that would be useful for either of you.”
Hearing that andrei lived in louisiana caused one of his brows to raise; so he was technically a foreigner? Or rather someone that didn’t normally lived there? He figured the other for someone that was a traveler more than a tourist but… He’d nod his head slowly.
”Well shibuya is a big place and there’s a lot in there that you can make a home out of. I’d say why not bring her with you to visit rather than avoiding going there at all.”
Kan gave another nod; both of their reasons seemed good and he’d fold his arms across his chest. Pondering what exactly he could say about their situations at hand… He’d snap his fingers and just gave a small chuckle.
”Well getting stronger is easy, travel. Meet people. Fight threats; moment you get yourself a partner is when you also get a habit of finding trouble. There’s plenty of places in the digital world to train in. Spartan grounds, The coliseum… heard that there’s some place out near rosewood too. Though there’s also the varied teams out there that probably have other training regimes or the like… Hmm.”
Kan peered out of the train’s window as it kept going; if andrei felt obligated and wanted to stay around…? Well he’d need some tricks! Some stuff to keep himself safe while mimi did work.
”Hmm… Well I’d suggest Andrei if you’re gonna stick around; might wanna work on how much you can run, dodge or the like too. That or get some gadgets. I know cards are popular for some folks. And mimi might think to expand her arsenal with RAM upgrades. I’ve got a few myself for my spirit; but they came preloaded with him so… Eh.”
Kan crossed one leg over the other; thinking what else could be handy for these two. Maybe a merc? Someone to help keep andrei out of trouble? Hired help could potentially make it easy for the two of them. Gretal certainly had!
”At this rate I might as well just write you a list for handy stuff… heh.”

Seeing Kan's eyebrows raise, at his admittion to being from Louisiana, Andrei would be quick to clarify with a wave of his hand "It's... A long story. I came here by complete accident, though." He'd elaborate for Kan's sake, to avoid any further confusion.
As the older man suggested bringing Mimi with into Shibuya though, Andrei would think it over a little. "Mmm... Maybe." He'd muse out loud, leaning forward and bracing his arms against his knees. Digimon could pretty much speak any language, right? Which meant that Mimi could help him learn and help translate a bit, but...
"I... definitely could give it a shot, but I don't think I'd be able to really do much in Shibuya. Don't have yen, I'm not a legal citizen, and I don't imagine that I know enough Japanese to do any talking without Mimi's help." Andrei murmured; scratching the back of his head a little as he glanced aside. "I feel like that's something I'd save for when I'm more fluent, unless something really forces me to go to Shibuya."
Mimi, meanwhile, would nod at Kan's advice. "Well, duh; fighting was how we were planning to get me stronger, anyways." She'd remark, tapping her claw on the seat a little in an idle fashion. "(We were?)" Andrei would quietly mutter to himself with a confused hue, under his breath; this had been the first he heard of fighting to get Mimi stronger! Mimi, though, didn't seem to hear him - instead focusing more on her own thoughts as she hummed to herself.
The notion of joining a team was certainly an option; Mimi would have to think hard as to what teams were still in the limelight nowadays, though. There was KIZNA, up in Ys... She'd heard of an Aegis, too, and some Knights or whatever. None of them were really the sort of teams (besides maybe the Digital Field Club, but they seemed a little too 'by the books' for her taste) that would've appealed to her past life, though, so she hadn't bothered to remember much about any of them.
"... Got any suggestions on teams, gramps?" Mimi would eventually ask Kan, adding "Nothing too hoity-toity or 'righteous', yeah? I don't exactly got time or the patience to worry about people lawyering over rules n morals n shit."
Briefly, Andrei would scratch his cheek a bit at that remark and sweat. Most decent teams would be pretty worried about rules and morals, wouldn't they...?
Regardless though, Kan would soon also suggest that Andrei learn to do some running and dodging; as well as getting gadgets to expand their arsenal with. "I've, well, probably gotten a bit rusty; but I'm relatively fit." He'd mention with a sheepish smile as he rubbed the back of his head. "Used to go out into the woods by my house a lot, wander around and explore; and I usually did alright when running around in PE classes and the like." He was never the fastest kid for sure, but he was still relatively quick on his feet, and had decent stamina.
The mention of RAM upgrades though, would make Mimi sigh heavily. "Damn shame the ones I had before didn't carry over. Fuckin' reformatting bullshit." She'd gripe and grumble, adding "Could've saved us a hell of a lotta bits."
The mention of cards would similarly catch Andrei's attention, the young man glancing over in Kan's direction. "Could you tell us a bit about cards, Kan sir?"
At this rate, a list certainly seemed like a good idea!
