Such a Beautiful Day (Andrei and Mimi)
|
Post by Kaya Matsui and Hawkeye on Oct 18, 2020 4:38:13 GMT
"The sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky~ *clap clap* My stars are alignin' and I swear that I could do ANYTHING... on such a beautiful day!"
This was what Kaya was singing (mainly to herself) as she and her Hawkmon partner Hawkeye walked through the Network Plains, looking for the perfect spot to lay down their blanket and start their picnic. The two felt like they've been cramped inside a lot, and Kaya remembered how pretty the plains outside Terminus looked. Perfect for a little picnic! "Your singing is as lovely as ever, Kaya," Hawkeye complimented her as he carried the blanket, while Kaya was carrying the picnic basket. "Thank you," Kaya happily responded as she adjusted her new beret hat. "I hope that feather you gave me is sticking on.""I'm sure it is. And if it does fall off, I have plenty more. Definitely not going to run out anytime soon," the bird said with a small chuckle. "I'm glad you're being more talkative with me. I just wish you got along with others better.""Perhaps, but I still believe that I was taking a big risk getting as close to you as I have. I'm... not ready, I suppose.""What about Kitt?""Hm... I suppose he is an exception. Do you see a good spot anywhere?""Not quite yet... we got a bit of time until lunch anyways."

It was indeed a beautiful day, as Andrei and Mimi both walked along the road leading from Terminus. It was Andrei's day off, not long after having met Kan, and so he figured he and Mimi could spend some time together; although...
"... I don't think you ever mentioned, why we're out here, Mimi..." Andrei would briefly muse, glancing back at the ModokiBetamon-X. She insisted that she was able to keep up with him just fine like this; but Andrei had a feeling that her stubby legs were proving to be a bit of an issue, for just walking around like this, as opposed to the leaps she was making in that fight with the Flarizamon.
Mimi, though, had no hesitation in her response; "We're out here to pick a fight with another digimon, obviously!" She'd state, picking up the pace a little to try and fall back in line with Andrei, as her gaze roved over the horizon. It wasn't hard for her to catch the startled expression Andrei made out of the corner of her eye, however; and she'd soon speak up once more before he could respond. "That spiel Kan had about 'bonds' being the big thing in getting stronger, it's all good and fine; but the main way any self-respecting Digimon gets stronger in a hurry is with a fight!" She'd state with a glance towards him, continuing "Clearly, if we do both together, then you'll get me up to Mega in no time!"
In truth, Mimi was a bit skeptical about this 'bonds' and 'trust' stuff; how does friendship make you stronger in the first place, anyhow? But she wasn't about to tell Andrei that. The most she could agree on was that they needed some degree of trust for each other, even if their relationship was pure business. (But that didn't mean she'd have to tell him anything besides the necessities.)
Andrei, meanwhile, was a little skeptical about whether they'd be able to get Mimi up to Mega stage in 'no time'; but he didn't really see the point in arguing. She seemed raring to go, at least; so he wasn't going to rain on her parade at all. Instead, he'd simply nod and mention "Makes sense," as he - on an impulse, having been watching Mimi constantly have to catch back up with him - decided to bend down, and pick Mimi up in his arms.
"Of course it-- H-HEY..!" Mimi, understandably, would be quite startled as Andrei picked her up, cradling her almost like a baby as she squirmed a bit. "What's t-the big idea?! I don't need to be coddled l-like some Digiegg!" A flush was set across Mimi's cheeks, and her fins pulsed with a soft glow - this, paired with Mimi's reaction, would bring forth only one amused thought in Andrei's mind.
'... Cute.'
What he'd say, though, was a little different - explaining honestly "You keep having to catch up with me; I thought it'd be easier, if I carried you like this." with a rather innocent smile. In the face of Mimi's squinting stare, he'd almost think that she'd spot some sort of tell to what was running through his mind...
... Though she would, eventually, deflate with an exaggerated sigh. "... Fiiiine, you can carry me." She'd mutter after a few moments, eyes casting aside in an almost sheepish fashion, as if checking to see if anyone else was watching (though there thankfully wasn't anyone in sight, at least not yet.) She could put up with this, for her partner, she supposed; and it wasn't like this was the absolute worst thing in the world, to put up with... "... But only when noone's around, got it??"
"Yes ma'am," Andrei would respond with a brighter smile, chuckling briefly; though Mimi quickly caught on to that, her cheeks flushing even brighter.
"And d-don't laugh, dammit!"
...
... With that though, Andrei and Mimi would continue walking like this; Mimi having since gotten comfortable in her partner's arms. She was more relaxed like this than Andrei would have expected, in fact; sometimes sighing contentedly, as he walked along.
Was she enjoying being coddled like this, despite her prior protests?
It certainly was something that he would wonder as he watched the little movements in her expression; though he didn't dare push his luck by asking. He had figured out awhile ago that Mimi tended to get a bit sparky with her electricity, when she was truly agitated; and that probably wouldn't end well for him, if she did it while he was carrying her.
But before much longer, they would soon notice a couple of individuals, further up the road; a human and a birdlike digimon! Mimi, near-immediately, would squirm out of Andrei's arms and hop down to the ground - not keen on others seeing her being carried around like that - and glanced over to Andrei. "How much you wanna bet they're a tamer and digimon duo, like us?" She'd question - adding "I bet we could learn a bunch more about this 'bond' business, by fighting them; and that bird brain's probably easy pickings!"
"You make it sound like I'm going to be fighting the other person, too..." Andrei commented with an awkward and a nervous scratch at the back of his head; though before he could say much else, Mimi was off, running down the road to meet these two strangers.
And one hell of a first impression she'd likely make, as she approached Hawkeye and Kaya both. "Hey, scruffy!" Mimi would call to the Hawkmon, once she came within earshot. "I bet I could kick your feathery ass no-problem; wanna take me up on it?" She'd challenge with a cocky grin, clearly trying to get a rise out of the other digimon.
Andrei, though, would look a bit more sheepish about the whole situation - casting Hawkeye and Mimi an awkward glance as he caught up. He'd soon turn his attention to Kaya, however, and attempt to offer her an apologetic smile and brief wave. "U-uhm, hello!" He'd speak in English, hoping that Kaya - like Kan had been - would be able to understand him. "Sorry about, uhm, Mimi; I think she's just enthusiastic..."
Hopefully, this situation wouldn't go too off the rails...

After a little bit more walking, it seemed that Kaya and Hawkeye had found the perfect spot for their picnic. There was a slight incline along the road to their left, and up to the top of the small hill it kind of looked like a cliff that was straightening out a specific patch of the land, so you could get a good view of the rest of the plains.
"That spot," Kaya and Hawkeye said at the same time. The two would then walk up to that cliff, with Hawkeye straightening out the salmon-colored blanket along the ground for the two of them to sit. As they were setting up, they both heard a voice that was calling out to them. Looking down towards the road, they saw a fish-like Digimon with legs who seemed to be calling up to Hawkeye specifically, clearly looking for a fight.
"Because a picnic was just too much to ask for apparently," Kaya said with a sigh.
The Hawkmon however smirked at this, as it had been a bit since he had gotten a chance to test his combat abilities. He could tell that this ModokiBetamon (X? That's a rare sight) was not as experienced in fighting as he was. Still, didn't mean he couldn't be surprised. "ModokiBetamon-X, I accept your challenge," Hawkeye said as he grabbed his bow.
"Hawkeye, what about our picnic?"
"It will still be here afterwards, will it not? Besides, a battle is great for working up an appetite."
Suddenly another human had caught up to the ModokiBetamon-X, waving to Kaya and saying something in English... which Kaya did not understand. "Um, Hawkeye, what did he say...?"
"Oh right, you only speak Japanese... he said hello and was sorry about the Digimon down there, who's name is apparently Mimi." Hawkeye would then turn back to the human and switch to speaking English. "My partner only understands Japanese I'm afraid. I shall act as translator for both of you for now."

It seemed that Hawkeye was quite receptive to the idea of a fight; something that made Mimi's grin grow, and made Andrei equal parts relieved and unsure. On one hand, he was relieved that Mimi's taunting didn't seem to get under Hawkeye's skin; though on the other hand, he wasn't sure how this fight was going to go, considering that the fight with the Flarizamon hadn't gone all that well. The last thing he wanted was for Mimi to get beat up all over again, after all!
On top of that though, it seemed that Kaya would be unable to understand him - which would prompt a bit of a sigh from Andrei, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. Figures, that Kan had been the statistical anomaly in all of this... Offering a gentle smile to Hawkeye though, he'd respond "I appreciate that; I... kind of know a little Japanese? But it's not enough for any real conversations yet, I don't think." Scratching the back of his head, he'd add "Unless you really wanted to talk about guitars, that is."
Haineko was a wonderful teacher, but Japanese was just a bit too complicated for Andrei to easily grasp, sadly; so learning the language was slow going. Nonetheless though, he'd offer Kaya a friendly smile, before sitting down on the grass nearby - so as to watch Mimi and Hawkeye's fight.
And Mimi, meanwhile, would hunker down in a readied position - growing visibly impatient. Enough talking; if they were gonna fight, then they were gonna fight! Not waiting to see if Hawkeye was ready to fight, her fins would begin to light up as electricity flowed through them - static arcing between the individual fins with audible snaps and crackles! Once the electricity was gathered at the pointed tips of each fin, Mimi would fire off three thin bolts of electricity - all of them aimed straight at Hawkeye! "Think fast, birdbrain!"
Was it a cheap shot? Probably, yeah.
Was it fair? Likely not.
Did Mimi care? Hell no. It was Hawkeye's fault for getting distracted - and a win was a win either way!
Andrei, though, couldn't help but wince a bit awkwardly at himself; wondering if he should say anything about it, or if he should just let Hawkeye and Mimi fight with no distractions. He didn't exactly get the whole ins and outs or courtesies that came with digimon fights, after all; though it was likely that he'd be learning it pretty soon.
- Mimi doesn't wait for Hawkeye to be ready or give the okay; instead immediately firing off a Tri Bolt at him!
Move Used: [ATTACK] Tri Bolt: Charging electricity in her three fins, Mimi fires off three bolts of electricity! Mimi can choose which enemies she aims her bolts at - be it splitting them among two or three enemies, or firing them all at a single enemy. [2 Turn Cooldown]
Passive: [PASSIVE] Aquakinesis: Mimi is able to manipulate the water in her surroundings; to the point where even the water molecules in the air can be bent to her will. While in a particularly humid/wet zone, while it's raining, or otherwise while she's in or near a body of water, Mimi's attacks deal 40% more damage as she uses the water to bolster her moves and make her foes even more conductive to her electricity!

Hawkeye understood what Andrei said and repeated it back to Kaya in Japanese. With the fight about to start though, another method of communication was going to be required, and they both knew that quite well. Kaya hummed for a bit before she got an idea. Pulling out her phone, she crossed her fingers as she opened up a specific app in hopes that it would work here. Sure enough, it loaded nice and perfectly!
"Maybe this app can help us," Kaya spoke into the phone's speaker in Japanese. "It's an app that uses an automated speaker program to translate phrases in another language." She extended her phone out towards Andrei so he'd hear it better, a confident look on her face...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" Kaya and Hawkeye both screamed as they covered their ears, with Kaya even dropping the phone onto the grass as she did so. Whatever noise that thing made was definitely not pleasant to listen to! Guess while the app technically worked, it was still negatively affected by the Digital World in some way like most human world electronics were.
Kaya sighed in disappointment afterwards, sitting down to watch Mimi and Hawkeye's fight. "Sorry... I really had my hopes up that it would work."
"She apologizes, she really hoped that it would work," Hawkeye repeated in English.
Without any warning though, Mimi had been charging up an attack for a few seconds aiming to try and get a cheap shot in at Hawkeye, shooting three thin bolts of electricity right towards him. Of course the Hawkmon's reaction time was extraordinary, as he noticed what Mimi was doing at the last second and managed to just jump out of the way in time. Now in the air, Hawkeye pulled out an arrow and charged it with an orange energy aura before aiming the bow at Mimi and releasing it.
However, the arrow stuck right into the ground just mere inches away from Mimi. She might've thought he missed, but she couldn't have been any more wrong. The arrow had a rope of light attached to it, anchoring it to Hawkeye's bow. He would then yank on the rope-attached bow, which allowed him to fly right at Mimi in almost no time, where she would get a very strong kick to the face from Hawkeye. Hawkeye narrowly dodges Mimi's attack and uses "Grappling Arrow" in order to deliver a powerful strike to Mimi directly.
Move used Grappling Arrow [RAM Upgrade]: Hawkeye shoots an arrow attached to a grappling rope, tying itself around an appendage of another Digimon, allowing them to either be stopped or thrown into a nearby object by Hawkeye. Does not work on Digimon of a higher level than Hawkeye's current form. Cooldown is one post.
Passive Deadshot (Combat Passive): Hawkeye's aim is far superior to most Digimon. Each attack has its accuracy increase by 30%, making it more likely that his attack will hit its target.

Initially, Kaya seemed to have some sort of idea - and even if Andrei wasn't entirely sure what, that idea was, he would still be visibly curious; tilting his head a little and eyeing her phone for a second as she brought up an app of sorts. From just a glance, he couldn't tell what, exactly, Kaya had brought up; only that it was an app of some sorts... Was it a translator? A dictionary of some form?
... Wait; was this even made for use in the Digital World?
Well, safe to say, the answer to that last question would be a resounding 'no' when the phone began to let out a horrid screech; prompting just about everyone to cover their ears with their own respective yelps and shouts! Vaguely, Andrei could tell there was some form of text-to-speech voice playing just under the heavy distortion; but it was much too difficult for him to actually make anything out without wanting to tear his eardrums out.
Thus, it was a relief when the voice would soon stop - allowing Andrei to, gingerly, lower his hands from his ears. Geez, he was pretty sure they were gonna be ringing for a good second... As Hawkeye and Kaya apologized to him though - Hawkeye being the translator per usual, though he at least was able to understand the 'sorry' portion - Andrei would glance over to Kaya; nodding in understanding, and then flashing her a thumbs up. Hopefully, that would be enough to convey 'no problem' to her, without needing any words; charades was probably going to be their best bet for direct communication, while Hawkeye and Mimi were occupied with their fight!
And speaking of that fight, it seemed that Mimi's electric bolts would miss and scorch into the grass - Hawkeye taking to the air to dodge them. The ModokiBetamon-X would hiss a bit with a hint of frustration, but otherwise maintained her grin, taunting "Guess I can't blame a bird for being a flighty fucker, ey?" as she eyed the Hawkmon, readied for whatever he might have up his sleeve. (Or would 'up his wing' be a more apt description, she briefly wondered?)
In any case, as Hawkeye aimed his bow downwards at her, Mimi was quick to 'dodge' the Grappling Arrow shot downwards at her - leaping aside, and watching as the arrow sunk into the grass. Certainly, she didn't immediately realize that Hawkeye hadn't been aiming directly at her - and so she would, initially, open her mouth to prepare to taunt the avian digimon further...
... At least, until she realized that Hawkeye was flying straight at her..!
With no time to properly dodge out of the way, and not wanting to show all the cards in her hand quite yet, Mimi would decide to instead make this a trade of blows - taking in a deep breath, and letting loose a pressurized blast of water in Hawkeye's direction, just as the talons from the kick dug into her skin..!
Digging her claws into the earth however, she would stand her ground and see how Hawkeye would stand up to this.
- Mimi allows the kick to hit her - but in return, uses the close proximity to trade blows with a Water Gun!
Move Used: [ATTACK] Water Gun: For Mimi's neutral B, she is a (water)gun. Inhaling deeply and taking in any nearby available water, Mimi pressurizes the water inside of her before releasing it in a harsh blast of water!

Kaya looked up at Andre with a slight smile. She was glad he wasn't upset about how it was totally her fault that everyone's eardrums almost blew up just now. Guess visual cues and charades were just the only way those two could kind of communicate while their translator was off fighting it seemed, huh? She sat next to him, hugging her legs close to her chin as she did. Maybe it wouldn't hurt for her to learn some English of herself...?
Speaking of the fight once again, Mimi taunted Hawkeye as he dodged her initial attack, prompting Hawkeye to respond "Language, Mimi, there are children present."
As expected, Mimi dodged the Grappling Arrow since... well, why wouldn't you if you saw an arrow flying right at you? But the thing was Hawkeye rarely missed, and he definitely wasn't aiming for Mimi with that arrow. No, he was flying right towards the ModokiBetamon-X with his foot extended, aiming to kick that little fish in the face.
Right as his foot made contact though, Mimi thought quickly and attempted to blast a geyser of water straight at him. He could feel the cold water pushing desperately against his foot, but he couldn't just give up on this now, could he?
No, he couldn't. He'd let the water push him back upwards, but unbeknownst to Mimi, during that time he'd pull out another arrow and charge it with red energy, shooting it right at Mimi once he had his focus return. If that arrow were to come into contact with anything, it would explode upon impact. How would Mimi be able to take this one? Hawkeye's kick's damage was reduced by "Water Gun", and he would take some damage himself from the attack, but he fires back with a "Bomb Arrow" straight at Mimi.
Moves Bomb Arrow: Hawkeye infuses his arrow with exploding energy, causing it to explode upon whatever target it comes into contact with. Cooldown is two posts.
Passives Deadshot (Combat Passive): Hawkeye's aim is far superior to most Digimon. Each attack has its accuracy increase by 30%, making it more likely that his attack will hit its target.

Andrei would return Kaya's smile, sitting cross-legged and leaning back slightly in a casual fashion - his hands behind him to keep him propped up. Just from a brief look-over, Kaya seemed to be much younger than himself - though he wouldn't be able to exactly place how old, exactly, he believed her to be. She seemed like a pretty friendly and kind young lady, though; he didn't need a common language to be able to see that much of the younger tamer.
Before long though, his attention would turn towards Mimi and Hawkeye - which, as the Hawkmon scolded Mimi for her language, he couldn't help but wince sheepishly and nod in agreement. Yeah, probably not good to curse around the youngsters.
Mimi, though, didn't give much of a damn. "This life might still be young, but I'm pretty sure I'm way older than you are overall; I can say whatever I want," She'd retort quite bluntly, rolling her eyes. "Besides; I'm sure she's already heard far worse things at school and on the internet."
(Briefly, Andrei couldn't help but wonder how old that meant Mimi must've been, taking past lives into consideration!)
As Hawkeye got pushed back and away by her Water Gun though, the ModokiBetamon-X was quite satisfied with herself; even as her skin stung from where Hawkeye's talons dug in from the kick. Hah! She'd like to see what he thought of them ap-....
... Wait, what was that red light?
Though the spray and droplets of water made it difficult to see Hawkeye beyond it, shimmering beautifully in the sunlight... She could also see a glint of something red glimmering beyond those droplets; a clear sign that something was coming, even though she wasn't sure what. Not keen on finding out, Mimi would allow herself to liquefy with Aquamorphosis - sinking slightly into the earth - and quickly sliding towards Hawkeye from below, so as to avoid the resulting BOOM! of the Bomb Arrow!
Andrei, in response, would blink a bit; murmuring to himself "I almost forgot she could do that..." with a slight sight and a scratch of his cheek. Staring at where the Bomb Arrow had scorched the ground though - any grass left behind now smouldering - he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows in an impressed (and perhaps slightly intimidated) fashion. They both had plenty of tricks up their sleeves, huh?
Once Mimi was clear of the explosion though, she would reform from the puddle; grinning up towards Hawkeye rather smugly. "Don't set the Plains on fire, now;" She'd chide tauntingly, adding "Only you can prevent wildfires!"
- Mimi uses Aquamorphosis to dodge the incoming Bomb Arrow! - At the end of her turn, she reforms not far from Hawkeye (albeit on the ground, as opposed to Hawkeye being in the air.)
Move Used: [ABILITY] Aquamorphosis: Mimi near-instantaneously melts down into a semi-gelatinous puddle of water - either to relocate, and/or to dodge an incoming move - before reforming either after the incoming move resolves, or at the end of her turn. While in this state, Mimi is indistinguishable from normal water if she enters a body of water, able to cling to and travel along solid surfaces - including walls and ceilings - and seep through spaces like cracks, fabric, and grating. However, Mimi obeys all laws of physics as normal as she reforms; she cannot reform in small spaces, and will fall if she had been clinging to a wall or ceiling. [3 Turn Cooldown]
Passive: [PASSIVE] Aquakinesis: Mimi is able to manipulate the water in her surroundings; to the point where even the water molecules in the air can be bent to her will. "Kaya... Matsui," the young girl would attempt to say to the foreigner, pointing her thumb towards her chest. She said her first name first since she remembered hearing about how Americans would say their first name first instead of their surname. If these two were going to form some kind of connection, then it would help if they knew each other's names, right? "Kaya Matsui."
Mimi did make a good point about Kaya potentially hearing worse things at school and on the internet. Kaya herself couldn't exactly disagree, but she decided to stay silent and let Hawkeye have his way. She really didn't care if others cursed around her or not, as long as they weren't trying to shove a bad word into every sentence they say.
When Hawkeye shot that Bomb Arrow, it seemed assured that Mimi was at least going to get somewhat hit by it. To both Kaya's and the Hawkmon's surprise, the ModokiBetamon-X partially turned into water and avoided the attack. Both partners audibly gasped at this, never seeing any kind of move like that before.
"H-How did she do that!?" Kaya blurted out in Japanese, although based on her expression it was obvious what she was trying to say.
Hawkeye growled as he landed on the ground, right as Mimi formed right back into her usual self. She taunted him some more, warning him about setting the Plains on fire, as well as copying that dumb wildfire bear's slogan (he had seen it so many times on TV now that he was positively sick of it.)
So far Hawkeye knew three of Mimi's moves; a water gun attack, a lightning bolt attack, and a move that allowed her to become water and dodge attacks. With a dodging move like that, surely she couldn't immediately use it again... but he didn't know how affective a couple of his own attacks would be.
Perhaps if he was fast enough, because they were so close range Mimi wouldn't be able to dodge? Hawkeye decided to test that theory out. He quickly pulled out another arrow and charged it with green energy before shooting it right at Mimi. If she actually managed to dodge or block this one then Hawkeye would need a new strategy. Hawkeye fires an Energy Arrow at Mimi at close range.
Moves Energy Arrow [RAM Upgrade]: Hawkeye charges his arrow with green colored energy before firing it, giving the same effect as a simple laser gun shot.
Passives Deadshot (Combat Passive): Hawkeye's aim is far superior to most Digimon. Each attack has its accuracy increase by 30%, making it more likely that his attack will hit its target.

As Kaya introduced herself, Andrei would glance over to the younger girl curiously; it taking a second for him to recognize that she was telling him her own name, though it wasn't hard to figure out once he noticed the gesture of her thumb. Ah... So Kaya Matsui was her name...? Smiling a bit, he'd nod in acknowledgement; extending a hand to her in a handshake, and gesturing to himself with his opposite hand to introduce himself as well. "Andrei Johnson."
Though his first name was technically Ivan, it was... A bit of a sore spot for him; having been teased for it as a kid, before. He much preferred going by Andrei, instead; and had actually intended to get it legally changed at some point. Though, he never did get a chance, for obvious reasons.
Hawkeye's and Kaya's collective shock over Mimi's move, though, would bring a grin to the dragonfrog's face as she reformed; as smug and confident as ever. "Never seen a digimon do that, huh?" She'd question, before boasting "Water's my element in more ways than one!" as she turned to face Hawkeye; watching to see what he was going to do as she began backing up a few paces. Which, it seemed to be yet another arrow attack - the Hawkmon charging green energy into an arrow, and firing it off at her with great speed!
Though Mimi did attempt to dodge with a leap to the side, proximity complicated things - the arrow being much faster than she was, as it caught her on the side! Hissing with the slightest wince, the ModokiBetamon-X would take the briefest time to take stock of the puncture and burn that the arrow and energy left behind respectively; before giving Hawkeye quite the sharp gaze.
"If we're doing close quarters projectiles..." Near-immediately, electricity would gather in Mimi's fins once more; charging at the tips of each of the three fins. "... Then I'd like to see how you deal with this!" She'd growl; firing off the bolts at Hawkeye, hoping for another trade of blows!
Andrei, though, would make a bit of a concerned expression at the wound Mimi received. Though he knew by now that Digimon were far more durable than humans, and that this was probably an equivalent to him accidentally scraping his knee or something... It still looked like it hurt!
Slightly antsy at being unable to really aid Mimi in any capacity - between being only a human, and also this being supposed to be a fair one-on-one spar - Andrei would instead fidget, twiddling his thumbs as he laced his fingers together. He couldn't - and wasn't supposed to - help Mimi in this... Yet, it also didn't really feel entirely right just sitting by as she got hurt, either.
Did Kaya feel the same about it, he'd wonder, as he briefly glanced in her direction?
- Mimi attempts to dodge, but is struck by Energy Arrow. - In retaliation, Mimi fires off some Tri Bolt at Hawkeye!

Kaya smiled as well as she accepted the other Tamer's handshake, who had revealed his name to be Andrei Johnson. That definitely sounded like an English name to her, although she didn't know many people aside from Adrian who had English names. Still, she was glad that they at least knew each other on a name to name basis now. She wouldn't have minded if by any chance Andrei revealed his real name to her, though.
Mimi had a point when she bragged about the others never seeing a Digimon do that before. It was certainly impressive, semi becoming water like that. She bragged about how water was her element, which did seem true for the most part. Hawkeye did not care however; he would find a way to beat her somehow. For now though, a simple Energy Arrow attack was all that he could do in the current situation, which hit its target successfully.
It definitely wasn't enough to take down Mimi's fighting spirit though. Once recovering from the shock of the attack, she delivered another shock of her own, an electric shock attack towards Hawkeye. He saw her fins charging with electricity, but thanks to the close quarters and the fact that lightning traveled fast, he had no choice but to take the hit. He yelled in pain as he felt the lightning painfully shoot throughout his body. If Digimon had bones, his would be showing right now like when a cartoon character gets electrocuted.
Kaya winced and yelped when she saw her partner being painfully hurt like that. She also knew that this was a one on one spar, and that Hawkeye could definitely take such a hit, but she still felt the need to help him somewhat. She looked over at Andrei, her face conveying the same feelings that he himself would be feeling.
Once the electric shock ended, Hawkeye took a few deep breaths... before a grin formed on his beak. He pulled out another arrow. "That was fun," the Hawkmon said as he pulled the arrow back with his bow, not charging it. He looked up at Mimi, his eyes gleaming with intensity. "Let me try." The arrow would then quickly glow yellow before he released it, sending a fast bolt of electricity flying straight at Mimi.
A little taste of her own medicine. Hawkeye is hit directly by "Tri Bolt" and takes damage, but then fires back with "Zap Arrow."
Moves Zap Arrow: Hawkeye infuses his arrow with the power of electricity, causing the arrow to be lightning fast. Cooldown is two posts.
Passives Deadshot (Combat Passive): Hawkeye's aim is far superior to most Digimon. Each attack has its accuracy increase by 30%, making it more likely that his attack will hit its target.

Seeing Hawkeye get struck by the Tri Bolt, and heaing Kaya yelp, Andrei couldn't help a slight wince of his own - glancing towards Kaya with a sympathetic expression, as he stated one of the Japanese words he did know. <"S-sorry,"> He'd murmur softly and awkwardly, scratching the back of his head a bit. Maybe it was weird to be apologizing for Mimi's own behavior in her stead, especially given that this fight was something that both digimon had agreed to, but...
... He still felt bad, that Mimi started this fight in the first place, to be honest.
Mimi, on the other hand, grinned in a satisfactory fashion as her attack landed quite solidly; electrifying Hawkeye, though she didn't seem to hold quite as much sympathy for this situation as Andrei did. It wasn't her fault that Hawkeye couldn't get the hell out of dodge, after all!
However, much like how Energy Arrow wasn't going to be enough to stop Mimi, a Tri Bolt wasn't going to be enough to stop Hawkeye. Making a quip that Mimi wouldn't entirely get - "Fun? You some sorta fucking masochist or something?" - the dragonfish would watch as the Hawkmon nocked another arrow, charging it up... Before firing it at her, charged with some electricity of his own...!
(Andrei, though, couldn't help but wonder where he'd heard a line like what Hawkeye said before.)
Mimi would, quite obviously, make another attempt to dodge this - leaping to the side. Hawkeye had wonderful aim for sure, but the windup of having to actually draw and charge the arrows meant that he had a bit of a tell. As a result of all this, the arrow would be a bit of a glancing blow - grazing across her side. Even without it being a direct hit though, the electricity would still course through her body; making her fins flicker with a faint glow unintentionally, and causing her to seize up and hiss in pain. That smarts..!
As she skidded a little with her landing, it'd take a second for Mimi to gain her bearings; although she would, with a slight bare of her fangs, fire off a Water Gun at Hawkeye! "Well, if you want more pain, then come have your fill!"
- Mimi is struck in a glancing blow by Zap Arrow; being grazed by the arrow, although being shocked nonetheless. - In retaliation, Mimi fires off a Water Gun at Hawkeye!
Move Used: [ATTACK] Water Gun: For Mimi's neutral B, she is a (water)gun. Inhaling deeply and taking in any nearby available water, Mimi pressurizes the water inside of her before releasing it in a harsh blast of water!

When the Tri-Bolt hit Hawkeye, Andrei apologized to Kaya about it for some reason. Why was he doing the apologizing? He had done nothing wrong, or at least Kaya didn't think he did anything wrong. She was unaware of how exactly she could convey her feelings on this though, with the language barriers and all. Andrei made an attempt to say something in Japanese, so she should try to do the same, right? <"No... it... fine."> It wasn't the best English, but she hoped it at least made sense.
Hawkeye knew that even if his attack wouldn't hit directly, just barely touching it would be enough to damage Mimi thanks to the electricity charged in the arrow. His hypothesis was correct, as Mimi attempted to dodge to the side the arrow grazed by her, sending a similar amount of electricity to her as the Tri-Bolt from earlier. "Not quite a bullseye, but I'll take what I can get!"
"I noticed something..." Kaya said in Japanese despite Andrei not being able to understand her. She'd still point to the Digimon and make hand motions to try her damn best to describe what she was saying, however. "Whenever Hawkeye attacks, Mimi always moves either left to right. If Hawkeye's figured that out by now, then maybe..."
Hawkeye was already a step ahead of Kaya, however. By this point he knew Mimi's general moveset, When he saw her breathing in, he knew that she was about to release her Water Gun move. The very second that she lets it out, Hawkeye would jump upwards so that he was directly above her. This next step was the tricky part though...
Quickly grabbing an arrow and charging it with orange energy (the Grappling Arrow energy) he would shoot it downwards towards his opponent... but not in the way she'd expect. He noticed how Mimi was always dodging from side to side, so this arrow was an all or nothing move. He would shoot it to Mimi's immediate left, hoping that was the direction she'd dodge in. If she did, the grappling arrow would then wrap around her and allow Hawkeye to swing Mimi straight up and then straight down into the ground, dealing great damage.
If Mimi dodged to her immediate right, however, Hawkeye could probably still save that move by tugging on the rope and flinging himself into Mimi again for another kick. Mimi's actions would dictate what happens this round... Hawkeye jumps upward to dodge Mimi's "Water Gun" before he uses "Grappling Arrow" in order to attack Mimi.
Moves Grappling Arrow [RAM Upgrade]: Hawkeye shoots an arrow attached to a grappling rope, tying itself around an appendage of another Digimon, allowing them to either be stopped or thrown into a nearby object by Hawkeye. Does not work on Digimon of a higher level than Hawkeye's current form. Cooldown is one post.
Passives Deadshot (Combat Passive): Hawkeye's aim is far superior to most Digimon. Each attack has its accuracy increase by 30%, making it more likely that his attack will hit its target.

Hearing Kaya speak English was a bit of a surprise to Andrei - did she know a bit of it, like how he knew a bit of Japanese? Briefly, he would blink a bit, but... He'd nonetheless smile in shy and sheepish appreciation, nodding in response to her. What a sweet miss, Andrei couldn't help musing to himself; she and Hawkeye seemed like they were a good match, as far as tamers and digimon go.
As she started speaking in Japanese though, and making hand motions, Andrei would - to put it simply - would have absolutely no clue what she was saying or trying to convey. It clearly was supposed to be something, he knew that much! But if she took the time to glance back at him, she would be able to see the clear bewilderment (and slight concern, over whether he was supposed to be able to understand what she was trying to convey or not!)
Even if she didn't look over in his direction though, that bewilderment and slight concern would be apparent in his tone as he - ever so softly - whispered <"I-I'm sorry?? I... don't know...?"> to Kaya with a nervous hue and an awkward fidget of his thumbs. He really wanted to be able to understand her! He was sure that she was saying something important, with how animated she was being! But he simply had no clue what she was saying - and he kinda felt a little bad for it!
Meanwhile, Hawkeye was scheming - already attempting to get a step ahead of Mimi, though she wouldn't necessarily know his thought process. It was safe to say that she, too, was trying to think hard as to how to get a step ahead of Hawkeye in turn, though. As the Hawkmon fired off another arrow in Mimi's direction, the ModokiBetamon-X would - quite understandably - dodge, leaping to the right to avoid being struck by the arrow. As it slammed into the earth though, Mimi would (ever so briefly) take notice of the tether attached to it, leading back to Hawkeye. And if this was the same arrow as the one from before, then...
... that meant that Hawkeye would, shortly after, dive after her in a flying kick..!
Mimi had to think quick here - and think quick she did, to try and minimize the damage that the Hawkmon would inevitably do. Ducking low to the ground, Mimi would attempt to dodge underneath Hawkeye; hissing as his talons managed to slash against her skin and one of her fins, as both digimon passed by each other. It still hurt, for sure, even if she didn't take the full brunt of the kick.
However, the grazing blow meant that she wasn't as dazed (which she was sure to be, if she had taken the kick head-on.) And it meant that she could whirl around once she was behind Hawkeye proper; attempting to Water Gun him in the back, while he was still in motion!
- Mimi dodges underneath Hawkeye's kick, but is still cut by his talons in the process. - In retalation, she attempts to quickly follow up the dodge with yet another Water Gun!
Move Used: [ATTACK] Water Gun: For Mimi's neutral B, she is a (water)gun. Inhaling deeply and taking in any nearby available water, Mimi pressurizes the water inside of her before releasing it in a harsh blast of water!
Passive: [PASSIVE] Aquakinesis: Mimi is able to manipulate the water in her surroundings; to the point where even the water molecules in the air can be bent to her will. Kaya did look over at Andrei as she was saying her piece, and saw that he clearly wasn't getting what she was saying despite taking her time talking and using hand motions as well. She sighed, dropping her arms before facing her palm at Andrei and shaking her head, which was supposed to be the nonverbal way of saying "forget about what I just said." Man, who knew a language barrier would interfere so much?
Back to the battle, Hawkeye growled slightly when Mimi dodged to the right instead of to the left like he was hoping. Once more, this was the second time he had to use this maneuver, so he had to prepare for Mimi to counter attack in some way. If she was going to use the move he thought she was going to, then maybe he could work it in his favor somehow?
Mimi definitely knew what he was going to do next as Hawkeye came flying in for the kick. She ducked below his foot, making so that only his talons actually managed to damage her. This was the tricky part; Hawkeye knew that her electric attack still needed to charge, so if she was going to counter attack it would either have to be with her Water Gun or some unknown attack he hadn't seen yet. He had to put all his stock in her using Water Gun for this to work.
Both Digimon would turn around at the same time. Almost as if the battle was playing in slow motion, Mimi fired her Water Gun as Hawkeye charged an arrow with blue energy and pulled it back with his bow. He released the blue-charged arrow right into the water blast, freezing it solid almost instantly. He would then step on the top of the now frozen attack to leap himself forward towards Mimi. his foot extended for one more final kick right to Mimi's face.
Hopefully this one would be the deciding blow of the fight... Hawkeye freezes Mimi's "Water Gun", using the icicle as an object to push himself forward and deliver another kick to Mimi right in the face.
Moves Freeze Arrow: Hawkeye turns his arrow into pure ice, which will then release cold air and freeze its surroundings. Cooldown is two posts. Diameter is 10 meters.
Passives Deadshot (Combat Passive): Hawkeye's aim is far superior to most Digimon. Each attack has its accuracy increase by 30%, making it more likely that his attack will hit its target.
