Such a Beautiful Day (Andrei and Mimi)

Geez... Andrei still felt pretty bad for not being unable to understand what Kaya was trying to convey; an unsure look crossing across his face making that much apparent. Though, he would nonetheless nod in acknowledgement, turning his attention back to the fight. He was starting to really realize just how much he needed those lessons from Haineko, to say the least...
As far as the fight went though, it seemed that Mimi would eventually meet her match, in the form of some quick thinking from Hawkeye. With a Freeze Arrow, he would be able to freeze the blast of water from Mimi's Water Gun; and using this new platform, he'd leap towards the ModokiBetamon-X, with another kick! This kick would land quite squarely, sending a surprised Mimi tumbling back across the grass with a sharp yelp..!
(Andrei, meanwhile, couldn't help a wince; that looked like it hurt a bit..!)
As Mimi's body came to a stop, she would just manage to roll back over onto her front; her teeth bared in a snarl, claws digging in as she tried to think on her feet, even as she was becoming visibly exhausted. She was insistent to herself that she could keep fighting - the kick didn't do as much damage as Hawkeye's arrow would've done, after all (disregarding that she had taken a few other hits earlier in the fight, that is.) Before she could leap back into the fray and act though; Andrei's voice would stop her in her tracks.
"M-Maybe we should call that good, Mimi?" Andrei would call to his partner - his tone coming out more of a question than he had intended. Seeing the two digimon trading blows as they had been was growing quickly uncomfortable for the young man, even if this was supposed to be a friendly fight; and frankly? He just wanted Mimi to stop getting hurt, really... "You two've already fought hard enough, haven't you?"
The dragonfrog, though, would furrow her brows - calling back "I still got some fight in me; let me show this birdbrain what for, dammit!" with clear frustration at being interrupted, as her gaze flicked between Andrei and Hawkeye both.
Andrei, meanwhile, would wince with an awkward hue at being scolded by Mimi; his gaze flicking towards Hawkeye as well with a hopeful hue. Would the Hawkmon want to push for the fight to continue, too? Or would he read the room and decide to call it off?

Kaya watched in surprise as Hawkeye's kick actually sent Mimi flying and skidding across the grass. She probably wasn't expecting that Freeze Arrow to actually freeze up her Water Gun move, so while the kick itself wasn't powerful it was definitely something she didn't prepare for. While it did look like it hurt, Kaya had confidence that the Digimon were not getting themselves too hurt.
However, both Hawkeye and Mimi were beginning to look more and more tired as the fight goes on, Mimi especially. Hawkeye thought he could probably win this but for something as simple as a spar, he wondered how long the two of them would go. Andrei expressed his concerns by calling out to his partner, suggesting now would be a good time to stop.
Mimi was sensible with her response and completely denied stopping the spar, insisting that she could win against Hawkeye. The Hawkmon sighed as he put his bow away. "I think now would be a good time to stop, Mimi. I'm tired and hungry, and you look exhausted as well. You definitely gave me a challenge though, you are a fantastic fighter."
Hawkeye would then fly back over to Andrei and Kaya. As he landed, Kaya would whisper something into the Hawkmon's version of an ear. "Wait, really?" She whispered some more stuff to him before Hawkeye looked up to Andrei and spoke in English. "Kaya insists that you and Mimi stay and join our picnic. What do you say?"
Whether or not Andrei would accept or decline, Kaya would start setting up either way. She put out the necessary amount of plates before placing different food items onto them. The selection was a tad bit limited but there were some fan favorites like onigiri, riceballs and takoyaki. Hawkeye could not wait though as he took one of his strawberry rice cakes from the picnic basket and happily munched on it, his expression changing from his usual demeanor into a very precious looking one, the bird lightly blushing from content as he ate his treat.
"You're going straight for the rice cakes?" Kaya asked with a slight laugh.
"Just one before the main course! That's not so bad, is it?"

It would come as a relief to Andrei, when Hawkeye agreed to calling it good on the fight. He had been concerned about how the two might've gotten hurt if the fight went any further - even if he knew that Digimon were far more durable than humans, it all still looked like it hurt! He'd sigh, the tension leaking out of his body, as he began leaning backwards in his seated position - arms behind him to prop himself up - with a wordless yet grateful smile in Hawkeye's direction. Thank goodness...
Mimi, though, would initially grow in frustration - she could still fight, like hell she was exhausted! (Even though she, in truth, really was starting to tire out.) Any potential retorts would quickly be silenced by Hawkeye speaking further, complimenting her as a fighter. Initially, she'd be a bit surprised - and Andrei could swear that he could spy the barest hint of a giddy smile on her face in reaction to the Hawkmon's praise.
Just as quickly as that smile formed though, she would soon replace it with her default stoicness the second she caught herself doing so. "Hm. I suppose you're not bad, yourself." Mimi would respond with a neutral yet vaguely smug hue, tilting her chin up as she returned over to Andrei's side; a firm hue to the gaze she'd give him.
"Everything's fine, see?" She'd remark to him with a somewhat scolding hue, showing off her full range of motion; as if to display that the injuries she did accrue during the fight weren't of any bother to her. "I told you; we digimon are tough, you don't need to baby or coddle me. I'll get right back up no problem if someone roughs me up a bit!" Turning her nose up a bit pridefully though, she'd add with a humorous hue "Not that I'd let them, of course."
Andrei, meanwhile, would smile sheepishly; listening attentively to every word that Mimi spoke with acknowledging nods. "Yeah; I can see." He'd respond, continuing "I'm sorry for worrying too hard; I just don't enjoy seeing you get hurt, y'know?" Reaching down to pat Mimi on the head though, Andrei would smile more warmly, concluding "You're definitely a tough lil fighter, though."
Once more, Mimi's face would flush at the touch and praise; her fins giving a brief vivid pulse, as her expression simply read surprised bewilderment. Though she did anticipate Andrei praising her again, she was not expecting the headpat...! "I- y-yeah! Definitely tough!" She'd cough awkwardly, eyes quickly flitting to Hawkeye and Kaya - the both of them seemingly distracted muttering to eachother, thankfully - before back at Andrei, adding "A-And who said you could pat me like that?!?" as she managed to regain her composure.
Andrei, in response, could only chuckle sheepishly. Still cute.
Before their conversing could go any further though, Hawkeye would speak up - inviting the both of them to join their picnic. Andrei, initially, was going to be polite and decline - not wanting to impose himself on them, when he was sure that they only planned to feed the both of themselves... But Mimi would speak up first; remarking "Let's get some free food, then..!" to Andrei, as she began dishing herself up!
Andrei, supposing that there isn't much room for argument if Mimi is already starting to chow down, would instead smile to Hawkeye - mentioning "I suppose we'll be joining, then. Thank you for offering, both of you." as he sat down with the three; wondering where he should start. If he was honest, he was still somewhat unfamiliar with some forms of japanese cuisine, having trended towards the more familiar-feeling restaurants and diners in Terminus. However, he supposed it was to be expected that a Japanese Tamer would have japanese food with them.
Eventually, he'd decide to give some of the takoyaki a shot; popping one into his mouth with a gentle hum. Not bad! Briefly, as he partook in the picnic alongside the others, he'd glance over to Hawkeye - noting the soft and cheery expression the bird seemed to have, as a contrast to his serious demeanor before. He couldn't help a soft chuckle at this, teasingly musing out loud "You seem to be in a good mood." with a warm smile, making it clear that the chuckle and tease were both goodnatured.
Mimi, though, wouldn't pay the others much mind; instead capitalizing on the free food that had been offered to her. Waste not want not!

Hawkeye noticed the way Andrei was smiling at him when the Digimon decided to call off the fight. Thus, Hawkeye responded to him in English. "No need to worry; neither of us were in any real danger. Most Digimon live to fight after all, and it's not like I could've harmed Mimi all too much without Digivolving."
Hawkeye would also notice Mimi's small smile after he had praised her. Her original smug attitude returned almost instantly however, saying that Hawkeye wasn't all too bad himself. Maybe Hawkeye was slowly developing Kaya's ability to see through that kind of emotion-hiding façade? Eh, not worth acknowledging at the moment, he figured as he flew back to the picnic area.
Mimi immediately responded to the invitation to join the picnic, seeming to be more excited about the free food more than anything. Kaya laughed a bit as she brought out some paper plates to put the food on. "Don't just go digging into the basket yet, Mimi," Kaya would say in Japanese, "and don't worry, there's plenty for everyone here."
"Kaya thought it would be a good idea to pack extra food just in case," Hawkeye explained. "I thought it was silly to do so, but it seems that I have been proven wrong."
Now it was time for everyone to dig in. Kaya put some takoyaki and a rice ball on her own plate as Hawkeye finished his strawberry rice cake. Andrei definitely noticed Hawkeye's facial expression change, as he mentioned that the Hawkmon looked to be in a good mood. Hawkeye simply looked back up at Andrei with a smile. "Why wouldn't I be in a good mood?"
"So uh... Andrei... how did you meet your partner?" Kaya asked, with Hawkeye of course translating for her to Andrei.

"Yeah..." Andrei would nod in acknowledgement to Hawkeye's words; scratching the back of his head sheepishly. "I guess for you guys, a spar like that's no different from just a couple of kids roughhousing in the grass, huh?" He'd muse out loud in questioning, eyeing where the wounds on Mimi's side and face had already stopped bleeding liquid data (not that they had been bleeding all that much before, anyways.) She certainly seemed to have recovered quickly, even if the fight left her a bit exhausted.
As Kaya (lightly) scolded Mimi with a laugh for jumping the gun though, the little dragonfrog would initially eye Kaya a bit sharply yet quietly; as though she were debating what to say in retort. When Andrei could only laugh with and pat Mimi on the head though - mentioning "Cool your jets, Mimi. It'll just be a minute." - the ModokiBetamon-X would finally relent, grumpily almost-pouting as she settled back down next to Andrei.
"Fiiine," She'd grouse, blowing a brief raspberry at the air, as though to express her displeasure at having to wait on someone else. She'd fold her limbs under her body almost like a cat might, and eye the basket with a hue of impatience; clearly ready to dig in as soon as Kaya laid out the food.
At Hawkeye's comment about Kaya having packed extra food though, Andrei would chuckle and nod in agreement; remarking "I suppose you'll never know, when you meet a friendly new face out in the world, huh?"
And as for Hawkeye's response to Andrei's light teasing, he couldn't help but laugh again, smiling warmly. "Touche; you got me there." He'd respond; amusement over their shared friendly banter plain to see. "Guessing you enjoy sweets?"
Before long though, Kaya would ask about how Andrei and Mimi met; to which Andrei paused and blinked a bit. "Ah... That's, well..." Andrei would murmur for a second, as though trying to figure out where, exactly, to start explaining. Mimi, though, would quickly butt in - remarking "I protected him from a Flarizamon trying to mug him and his pal out in Terminus!" with a boastful hue, puffing her chest out pridefully.
Once more, Andrei wouldn't really have the heart to clarify that Mimi couldn't actually beat the Flarizamon - that they had to flee from the much stronger Champion - but he would nod. "It's... a long story to explain all the context, but yeah. I work in a spa at Terminus, and we were going to get mugged when me and a coworker were coming back from lunch break." He'd explain. "I actually still got the scratches on my arms from the Flarizamon - though they're pretty much healed by now."
Lifting his forearms a bit, he'd gesture to the faint claw marks on his skin - barely noticeable, unless you were actually looking for the marks. They had healed up pretty nicely, thankfully. "Mimi had stepped in out of nowhere, and kinda had proclaimed me to be her human on the spot; and the digivice certainly seemed to agree. I admit that I'm still kinda finding my footing in the whole 'being a tamer' business, though."
"There was that big ol' titan of a guy we ran into on the train awhile back." Mimi remarked briefly, thinking it over. "We talked to him about some shit like friendship or whatever; but what can the 'power of friendship' do that some good old fashioned experience from sparring n exercise can't?" It just sounded like some cheesy old childrens' cartoon bullshit, if she was being honest.

Hawkeye sweatdropped upon hearing Andrei's remark about Digimon spars being like just a couple of kids roughhousing. The Hawkmon lived in a house with two young human sisters, who would usually be at each others throats. Kaya and her sister Mari have had much scarier fights than any fight he ever saw between Digimon. "Well, Kaya and her younger sister do get into much worse fights sometimes..."
Kaya couldn't help but smile at Andrei's and Mimi's interactions with each other as Andrei convinced the little Digimon to wait for the food to be set up. While Hawkeye was very patient when it came to... well, most things, their little exchanges kind of reminded her of her own relationship with her own Digimon. Humans and Digimon coming close together like this was something that she absolutely loved about the Digital World.
She was very lucky to have met Hawkeye.
Finally the food was all spread out and ready to be enjoyed. Based on Hawkeye's seemingly random new mannerisms, Andrei asked if the bird Digimon enjoyed sweets. "I suppose it would be pointless to lie now. I don't know what it is about sweets, but there's something about them that I can almost never get enough of. Luckily I have restraint."
"It's not just sweets either, he adores strawberries too," Kaya replied. Maybe Mimi could translate that one for once?
Now it was time for Andrei and Mimi to explain how the two of them met. Mimi almost immediately stated that she protected him from a mugging in Terminus. Kaya gasped. "Muggings happen in the Digital World then too, it seems..."
Then it was Andrei's turn to tell the story. Of course Kaya did not understand much English so to her Andrei might as well have been saying "edsdjmswahspwskmwehj" over and over. Thankfully Hawkeye was there to translate for her, so she was able to mostly understand what Andrei said thanks to him. Andrei said he worked at a spa in Terminus, and a Flarizamon mugged him and a co-worker on the way back from their lunch break. "You worked in Terminus before meeting your partner? How long have you been in the Digital World?" That definitely had to be a point worthy of discussion.
Andrei continued his story, showing the scratches and scars he got from the Flarizamon that were mostly healed by now. "I could not imagine what I'd do if a Digimon like that actually laid their own claws on Kaya... truly a miracle that Mimi showed up just in time then, hm?" Hawkeye felt like not it was his turn to explain their story "Kaya and I met when she was teleported into my village. One of the first things she did was kick an annoying Wormmon I was growing to dislike, so she practically earned my respect right then and there."
"Hey, he was the first Digimon that came up to me, how was I supposed to know what he was?" Kaya said in defense of her actions.
"Anyways, I took her to Terminus so she could take the Trailmon back home. But after she left, I started to miss her, although I didn't realize that right away. I headed to the human world myself to find her, and when we met up her Digivice appeared out of nowhere and we were bonded just like that. It was mostly a learning process getting used to each other, I'll admit..."
Mimi had mentioned meeting another human awhile back, who taught Andrei and Mimi about, as Mimi put it, "some shit like friendship or whatever," and voiced that she doubted how a strong bond could actually be worth something in the end. "Don't you know? A Digimon actually can get powered up thanks to the strong bond between them and their human partner. It was thanks to our friendship that Hawkeye was able to Digivolve, something he can't do normally thanks to his corrupted data."

"Sweets are pretty good," Andrei would agree with a gentle chuckle; smiling warmly and nodding briefly.
"And strawberries too apparently," Mimi would add - though it took a couple-second delay for her to realize that Hawkeye wasn't translating for Kaya this time around.
Andrei, nonetheless, would continue to nod along in understanding and acknowledgement. "I admit I get over-sweeted way too easily sometimes; rich food and overly sugary sodas can make me a bit queasy." He'd muse, adding "Strawberries are pretty good, though." When was the last time he had some fresh strawberries, he briefly wondered...?
At Kaya's little gasp and remark though, Mimi would nod. "Digimon got their own fair share of lowlifes, who can't keep themselves from preying on the littler guys." She'd remark knowingly, adding "Some bastards just got nothing better to do than to try and make themselves feel like a badass for once in their pathetic lives."
As Andrei talked about his story though, Hawkeye would speak up next - asking about how he worked in Terminus, and how long he'd been here, which... Certainly was a good question. "Yeah; I've been working there for... Maybe a good few months, by now?" He'd question briefly, trying to think hard. "At least as far as Digital World time goes. Heck if I know how long I've been there as far as real-life time goes."
How were things, back home, he wondered?
It was Kaya's and Hawkeye's turns to explain their story though, as to how they had met. The mention of Kaya having punted a Wormmon first thing would've prompted a startled expression from Andrei - but Mimi would begin to cackle in amusement, even as Kaya tried to defend her own actions, exclaiming "Fucking YEET!" in response.
"I don't think that would be very nice to the Wormmon, Mimi..." Andrei would murmur with an awkward and hushed hue, glancing in the dragonfrog's direction - but Mimi, still snickering, would simply shrug. "Ahhh, whatever; I'm sure that Wormmon's fiiine." She'd wave him off with a motion of her claw, casual and indifferent.
Nonetheless, Hawkeye would soon continue his story - mentioning how he had begun to miss Kaya, and went to search her down - their second meeting being what prompted the Digivice's appearance. Andrei, curious, would raise his eyebrows a bit at this - murmuring "I actually had my Digivice from the start..." as he glanced down to where it was hooked to his belt. "It was... Kinda why I hung around in the Digital World, partially. I had been told that it was a sign I had a partner out here, and I felt sort of obligated to be there for them."
"It... wouldn't have felt right, to abandon whoever my partner was, just because I wanted to go home - y'know what I mean?" This rhetorical question would prompt Mimi to fall silent; the duo both seemingly in thought, as they pondered the question posed.
But before long, they would move on to the subject of digivolution - namely, Kaya (and Hawkeye by extension helping translate) explaining how a bond between a tamer and their digimon can power that digimon up, and how Hawkeye actually had to rely on it, due to his messed-up data. This would certainly catch the duo's attention, Andrei humming a bit with a brief smile. "So it is true, then." He'd hum a bit - even if he didn't really doubt it, he knew Mimi had her own doubts.
Mimi, though, would 'hmph' a little. Her skeptism being proven wrong did agitate her a little; though she was quick to brush it off, remarking "Maybe so; but there's no reason we can't also get me stronger with some proper practice. There's shit like those cards that gramps mentioned, that you can back me up with, too!"
"That is true." Andrei would agree with a brief nod, though... Curious, he'd glance over to Kaya and Hawkeye - questioning briefly "Is it... Too much to ask, what Hawkeye's evolutions are? And what is evolving like for a digimon, too? I'm a bit curious, admittedly."

"I have yet to find my point of being sick of eating sweets," Hawkeye said as he switched over to start digging into his actual meal now, "but I do know my body's limit, fortunately, so as long as I keep an eye on how much I've eaten I should not accidentally get sick from it."
Kaya thought it made sense that there would be more cruel Digimon like that in the Digital World, as she remembered her own bad experience with a Biyomon named Birdie months ago. It didn't mean she was happy about it or was willing to accept it, however. Digimon should know better, shouldn't they? "If I ever saw something like that, Hawkeye and I would gladly make them see the error of their ways," she said, not wanting to sound too threatening at this moment (and of course Hawkeye would translate.)
Andrei's response about working in Terminus for months did bring up some questions. He met his partner that long after arriving in the Digital World? "I was taken directly to Hawkeye it seemed..." Kaya mused as she thought.
"I assumed that most humans were introduced to their partners shortly before or after receiving their Digivice or entering the Digital World. It is a miracle you have survived that long before meeting Mimi, Andrei."
Kaya did not appreciate Mimi's response to her kicking of a Wormmon. "He was the first Digimon that came up and spoke to me, what else could I have done to defend myself?"
"That Wormmon was weird and annoying anyways, and he was fine afterwards."
After hearing Hawkeye's story, Andrei did reveal that he had his Digivice from the start and remained in the Digital World since he was told that he did indeed have a partner. The amount of time it took to meet her was bizarre, but it did make sense. "I wasn't given a Digivice until Hawkeye found me back in Tokyo. We didn't know we were chosen to be partners, we just met and naturally grew closer until... SOMETHING decided to bond us properly. It's kinda funny how it all works, isn't it?"
Now on the subject of Digivolution, Mimi was skeptical about how a strong Tamer bond would help just as much as pure training. "Physical training does indeed help, but so does making sure you have a good relationship with your partner. The first time I Digivolved was after I saved Kaya from a Digimon hellbent on trying to kill her."
It was then that Andrei asked about what Hawkeye's evolutions were. Both the girl and the Hawkmon glanced at each other and smirked, before they both got up onto their feet, with Kaya using her Digivice to project a holographic screen that she and Hawkeye would stand on either side of. The screen currently showed an image of a Hawkmon.
"Hawkeye's line is very similar to most Hawkmon lines you might see in the wild," Kaya would announce, her eyes closed as she used her hands to direct attention to the holographic screen.
"But the key difference is that my archery abilities carry over from form to form, their power increasing," Hawkeye announced, mimicking Kaya's current behavior.
"Rookie!" "Hawkmon!" The screen shifted over to an angelic humanoid Digimon with long orange hair and a black mask. "Champion!" "Angemon!" It would then shift over to a more bird-like humanoid Digimon with long hair and a red mask. "Ultimate!" "Garudamon!" Finally all that was left was... a question mark? "Mega!" "Currently unknown!"
"But wait, there's more," Kaya and Hawkeye would interrupt if Andrei or Mimi thought the presentation was over. "We also have special items called Digimentals that can give Digimon completely separate forms, known as Armor Digivolution!"
The screen once again shifted, this time to a quadrupedal bird-like Digimon reminiscent of Hawkmon, but with a silver mask. "Wings of Love!" "Halsemon!" Finally, the screen shifted to one last Digimon, a bipedal raven-like Digimon with purple armor and two golden swords. "Blades of Love!" "Karatenmon!"
The holographic screen would then disappear, leaving Kaya and Hawkeye standing there doing one last finishing pose. "Any questions?"

At Hawkeye's and Kaya's comments over how long it had taken Andrei to meet Mimi, the young man would scratch the back of his head a bit sheepishly. "It helped that I had other digimon like my coworkers helping look after me. Part of my pay was also my employer - a Mikemon named Haineko - giving me a place to stay, and helping me learn about the Digital World and a bit of Japanese as well."
"... Although, Japanese is definitely a very different language from what I'm used to; so I admit I've been having a slightly hard time with it."
"Hey, I ain't criticizing you for defending yourself." Mimi would respond to Kaya with a casual wave of her claw, briefly snickering. "But you gotta admit, the mental image of a Wormmon getting fucking punted like it's nothing is hilarious; and the fact that's one of the first things you did out of the gate makes the mental image even better!" (Disregarding the fact that she could get punted just as easily, that is; although she was plenty confident in the idea that she would be able to give any aspiring punters a piece of her mind if it ever happened.)
With Kaya's (translated) recount of when she had gotten her digivice though, Andrei would respond with a brief nod; musing "I suppose there's no real rule of thumb, to how one starts being a tamer, then." After a second of thought though, Andrei couldn't help adding with a sheepish laugh "... That, or I'm an outlier."
Spiders Georg would be proud of him.
Bonds and physical training both seemed to have their value, though; and that Hawkeye's own digivolution might've been triggered by the person that he had been bonding with being put in extreme danger. Mimi would pay idle attention to this, though she wasn't as focused on this line of conversation as Andrei was; a hue of concern crossing his face as he nodded. "Well.. It's good that it seems like you two came out of that okay... That sounds like it was a rather stressful situation, though..." He'd murmur with a sympathetic sigh; certainly not wanting anyone to have to deal with an angry digimon setting its sights on them.
With the question of Andrei wanting to know what Hawkeye's other forms were though, the duo would proceed to look at each other and smirk, as if there was some unspoken thing between them that they just knew. Mimi, personally, would groan to herself "Oh no, what now..." with a roll of her eyes as she used her claw to pop a takoyaki in her mouth to chew on; having a feeling that this is something that would give her a headache. Andrei, on the other hand, was visibly interested as Kaya and Hawkeye both hopped up to their feet; prompting him to wonder what sort of presentation they would give!
And it would certainly be a presentation; Kaya using holograms from her digivice to help show off the different forms that Hawkeye could take, both from standard digivolution, and from using Digimental to armor digivolve. Though Mimi was only passingly interested in the standard forms that Hawkeye could take, Andrei would watch closely; nodding along to the duo's explanations both of the nature of Hawkeye's normal forms, and what those forms exactly were.
"Impressive..." Andrei would hum, unable to help a brief smile; his curiosity clearly piqued by Angemon and Garudamon - mostly due to his interest in more mythological creatures and races. Angels were pretty widely known, albeit he knew that traditional angels had more 'eldritch' or otherwise otherworldly appearances compared to the more mainstream humanoid angels. Garuda, too, was typically known as being a legendary bird or bird-like creature from certain cultures, such as in Hindu faith, where Garuda is sometimes depicted acting as a steed for one of the gods; or in Buddhist faith, where it acts as a protector.
The mention of Digimental, however would draw Mimi's attention. That's right - Digimental were artifacts they could use, to get a boost in power early on; couldn't she and Andrei both go looking for one at some point, to tide her over until she could reach Champion proper..?
Andrei, though, was more focused on the forms themselves - still visibly curious. Halsemon's name didn't bring any particular creatures or races to mind, though the form itself evoked the image of a gryphon for sure - excluding the fact it didn't really have any proper wings, aside from those on the sides of its helmet like the wings of a plane. Karatenmon was somewhat the same namewise; but it would stlil make his eyes light up as he could, without a doubt, identify its appearance as being like that of a tengu!
As Kaya and Hawkeye finished their presentation though, Andrei couldn't help a chuckle and brief applause - smiling warmly. "That was a good presentation. Seeing the different forms was pretty interesting - though I don't believe that I can think of any questions off the top of my head." He'd mention, continuing "Seeing the ways your forms - or their names - resembled that of creatures from different beliefs in our world, though, was pretty interesting. I admit mythological creatures and cryptids are a bit of an interest of mine, eheh.."
"If you ask me, we oughta go Digimental hunting at some point, so I can actually start digivolving in some way." Mimi would remark to Andrei - glancing in his direction. She was itching to be able to hold her own better and better, after all..! "The sooner I get stronger, the better I can protect you!"
Andrei would smile sheepishly in Mimi's direction and nod a bit; scratching the back of his head. Although, this also made him wonder. "... What kind of forms did you take, in your past lives, Mimi?"
"Me? Well... Last life, I could become a dragon!" Mimi looked pretty prideful at this, baring her teeth fiercely. "I had a pretty basic Green Coredramon line, but what did looks matter when I could make the mountains tremble, huh?" She'd boast, briefly gesturing with a claw - as if to try and indicate the basic shape of the forms. Although... That did raise a question for the both of them.
Would her forms be the same this time around, or different...? This rookie form - while similar - had a vastly different theme to it, after all...

Post by Kaya Matsui and Hawkeye on Nov 19, 2020 22:14:33 GMT
Oh, so Andrei had some good Digimon friends from the start it seemed? Something like that happening was highly unusual in most Tamers' cases, Hawkeye thought, but at least Andrei was living somewhat in peace thanks to his employer and coworkers. Still, there was something that was bugging Hawkeye... "Can you recall how you came to the Digital World to begin with, Andrei?"
When Andrei mentioned Japanese being hard to grasp, Hawkeye translated it for Kaya, who related to him somewhat. "English is hard for me as well. I know some English words here and there, but not enough to convey a full sentence... learning a second language is near impossible." Of course, Hawkeye translated that to Andrei as well.
Being the translator is getting tiring... Hawkeye thought to himself.
Despite what Mimi was saying in response to Kaya's kicking of Wormmon, Kaya herself still didn't feel any better about it. "Not everyone finds things like that funny, Mimi..." It was clear that she very much did not like the aquatic Digimon laughing about physical harm to another living being.
Her mood only seemed to get worse when the situation with Birdie was brought up. Andrei mentioned how it sounded like a very stressful situation. "If only you were there. Despite sort of patching things over with that Digimon lately, the experience still affected us both. The Digimon in question is also a Tamer's partner, who only puts up with her partner to gain power, as far as I can see. Do you know about Dark Digivolution, Andrei?"
"Dark... digivolution...?" This was the first that Kaya was hearing of this, as well.
Speaking of digivolution, Kaya and Hawkeye would both bow in perfect sync after being applauded by Andrei after their presentation of Hawkeye's Digivolution line. He mentioned that some of the forms and names shown resembled mythical creatures in real life. "I cannot say I know much about human mythology," Hawkeye admitted.
"And we haven't gotten to that part in school yet, either..."
Finally the subject of past lives was brought up. That made Kaya curious, did Hawkeye have any past lives? He couldn't have, his corruption stops him from reforming... unless he got corrupted in a previous life? So many unanswered questions. "I do not recall ever having a past life, myself. If I am somehow deleted, my data cannot reform into a DigiEgg, or so I am told."

Ah, how he came here in the first place... "Yeah," Andrei would nod in confirmation, explaining "It's a bit of a long story, but uhm... To put it simply, I had found this... Rift, I guess, out in the woods over by where I lived in Louisiana. I got curious about it, got close trying to record it and whatnot to show to people, and... Ended up slipping and falling in in the process. From there, I ended up waking up in the Backup Bayou, which..."
Briefly, Andrei would pause to bark a laugh, looking a little sheepish. "... That's a whole story of it's own, really. Important part is, I ran into a tamer and a couple of digimon who'd help me get to Terminus, so that I could get settled down. Haineko gave me a job, a place to say, and from there you already got a decent idea of how things went."
Mimi didn't seem to care all that much about Kaya's remark, though; the ModokiBetamon-X just rolling her eyes a bit. "Whatever; Hawkeye said he was fine afterwards, yeah? So what's the harm in laughing over it?" She'd question, still briefly snickering.
Andrei, though, would interject here. "Some people aren't comfortable with that, though. Maybe we should drop the subject and move on?" This would draw a brief grumble out of Mimi - her displeasure out of Kaya and Andrei both disapproving clear - but she wouldn't argue; instead glancing aside and muttering wordlessly to herself.
With this, Andrei would glance to Kaya, and murmur a quick <"Sorry,"> to her in Japanese. He certainly didn't want Mimi to end up ruining this picnic for anyone, with her more uncaring nature..!
The subject would soon shift to Hawkeye mentioning Dark Digivolutions, though; something that Kaya seemed confused about as well. "I don't believe I've heard of that, no..." He would respond; shaking his head. "It doesn't exactly sound pleasant, though." It didn't sound like Kaya knew much, either, judging by her confused tone.
Mimi, meanwhile, had vague ideas of it - knowing that it was, essentially, what happens when a digimon goes batshit, and it was something that no sane digimon wants to face... Though, she wouldn't exactly know the details. Thus, the ModokiBetamon-X would simply quietly listen in on the conversation; her attention on Hawkeye.
The subject of human mythology, though, made Andrei sheepishly chuckle and rub the back of his head. "It's a subject I really love, to be honest." He'd mention - continuing "It's amazing, the varieties of creatures people have believed in, over the many years; and I enjoy reading about the different races and creatures in mythology as a result, as well as figuring out how and why they came to be." After all, who knew if dragons didn't come from, for example, people finding old quetzacoatlus bones in the early ages? "I, uhm... Really enjoy nerding out over it, whenever I get the chance, to be honest."
That Hawkeye wouldn't be able to be properly reborn, if he ever died, certainly sounded like a grim bit of news. Andrei would be unable to help a concerned expression at this - and he couldn't help but wonder what had led to Hawkeye's data being like this. However, that sounded like it would've been a rather personal question - something that he certainly wouldn't want to tread on without Hawkeye's okay. Thus, he'd simply quietly nod, his concern and sympathy clear.
Mimi, meanwhile, would remark "Sounds like you got dealt a shit hand with this life, then." in a dry fashion; wondering how he must've pissed Homeostasis or Yggdrasil off that badly to end up in such bad luck.

Andrei seemed lucky enough to have encountered a nice group of people and Digimon before making his way to Terminus and setting up a life for himself there, so all seemed well and good there. But there was one part that was definitely not expected to be heard by either the girl or the Hawkmon...
Now, Hawkeye was taking a sip from his water bottle at the time pf Andrei explaining about how he came to the Digital World. When he brought up that he came here through a rift in Louisiana, the Hawkmon's eyes widened as he nearly choked on his drink. "A rift opened up in Louisiana?" Hawkeye asked for confirmation, knowing at least a little bit about geography to know that Louisiana was definitely not anywhere close to Japan.
"Wait, that's how he got here?" Kaya asked, not knowing the rest of what Andrei said. "Wait, portals are opening in America?! I thought they only opened up in Shibuya!"
"That's what I thought, too..."
"...does that mean a Digimon could show up anywhere in the world? Or that other countries have their own Tamers and Spirit Users and all that?" It was definitely an interesting topic to discuss, if the others wanted to discuss that as well.
Kaya was grateful that Andrei stepped in when he did, telling Mimi something that made her stop trying to convince Kaya that her Wormmon abuse was funny. He even gave her a quick Japanese apology for it. <"Thank you,"> Kaya would respond back in not 100% perfect English.
When Hawkeye brought up Dark Digivolutions, Andrei, Mimi and even Kaya showed at least a little bit of interest. "I have only heard rumors and stories about it, but I'll share what I know. As far as I'm concerned, it only happens to Digimon that are forcefully trying to Digivolve in some way, or a Tamer trying to forcefully Digivolve them. Not only is the resulting form powerful, but it would also be terrifying and lose any sense of who they used to be. In essence, they truly become monsters." This description of Dark Digivolution definitely put a couple of scary thoughts and images into Kaya's head, primarily ones involving seeing Hawkeye going through something like that. She didn't know what she'd do if Hawkeye suddenly became insane or evil.
Human mythology, huh? While Kaya and Hawkeye knew close to nothing about it, that didn't stop Andrei from expressing his love over nerding out about his interests like that. "We know a Tentomon who has self described himself as an 'otaku'. While he lived with us, he would always watch anime or play video games, or talk to us about anime and video games. It was apparently the reason he came to the human world in the first place."
Oh, if only Mimi knew the actual hell that Hawkeye had went through before making that comment about him being dealt a shit hand. He tensed up, both wanting to spew out his entire life story but also not wanting to go into a crying fit again after recalling said story. "Y-Yeah, you could say that..." he managed to mumble out.

At the bewilderment that the duo shared over a rift opening in Louisiana, Andrei would blink a bit, before scratching the back of his head. "Yeah, in Lousiana; I dunno enough about that whole business to... Really say much else, but I guess it's not something that's supposed to happen all too often?"
"Rifts open and close as they please." Mimi would remark, with a casual gesture of her claw. "I dunno too much about that shit either; but I know that they can open just about anywhere, go to and from just about anywhere - I've even heard tales of parallel universes, though I don't put much stock in that shit - and it's pretty damn hard to predict when and where they'll appear. From what I understand though, it seems to be centralized mainly in Shibuya; but don't quote me on that much."
Folding her claws underneath her once more, she'd conclude "I just am guessing it from how most of y'all are Japanese, instead of being from South America, or the Middle East, or whatever. Really, I ain't surprised if other parts of the human world have their own digimon shenanigans - just to a far smaller degree than your guys' part of the world does."
As Kaya thanked Andrei for stepping in though, he would offer her a gentle smile and nod in response. He was glad to defuse this when he did - it at least meant that Mimi was willing to listen to him, even if she was pretty beligerent to others sometimes. Mimi, though, would only grumble and roll her eyes - seemingly disinterested in arguing about it, even if she was displeased at nobody else sharing in her humor.
The talk of Dark Digivolutions, though, would be an interesting - even if unnerving - discussion. The idea that a digimon, when pushed too far, could become a senseless and berserk monster... Andrei couldn't help a frown and fidget at this - glancing aside in Mimi's direction, and wondering what would happen if she went through a similar transformation.
The ModokiBetamon-X, though, would pitch in her own two cents about what she knew. "From what I understand, plenty of digimon gotta digivolve in a hurry sometimes; and we usually reach new heights when we're put under some form of stress. The biggest factor in whether a digimon goes batshit and has a Dark Digivolution or not though, is what's going on in their heads." Briefly, she'd tap the side of her head with her noggin, to get the point across. "Humans and Digimon ain't too different, when it comes to what goes on in our heads. We get happy, we get sad, we get mad, we get stressed..."
"... From what I understand, a Dark Digivolution is when a digimon is at their wit's end, and they fuckin' snap under all that stress and anger and whatnot going on in their heads, like how a human snaps. And when we snap, and can't keep our cool or find the resolve to overcome whatever's stressing us out, that's where the similarities to humans and digimon tends to end; going batshit as we Dark Digivolve."
Of course though, this was only going off of what she'd heard of discussions between other digimon on the subject. Dark Digivolution was like a bogeyman for some, the sort of tale you told kids to teach them some moderation and to discourage them from neglecting their own health or rushing things. Though, much like many bogeymen, it was sometimes hard to filter out the truth from fiction.
Nonetheless though, Hawkeye would soon mention a Tentoman otaku of sorts; something that would prompt Andrei to blink a bit, before laughing softly. "I've heard of people being fascinated and obsessed over different cultures; though I suppose it's to be expected, digimon would be pretty fascinated by humans, huh?" He'd muse out loud.
"Let's just hope he doesn't get too close and personal with learning about human authorities, next." Mimi would dryly comment, meanwhile.
As Hawkeye seemed to deflate from Mimi's comment though, and the subject of his own life, a sympathetic expression would cross Andrei's face. Reaching out, he would offer Hawkeye a gentle pat on the shoulder in a comforting gesture. "We don't have to talk about it, if you don't wanna; this sounds like it's treading into some real personal territory for you." Andrei would murmur reassuringly to the hawk digimon, before asking "Want us to change the subject?"

"From my understanding, the barrier between the Analog and Digital Worlds is at its weakest in the Shibuya ward in Tokyo, Japan. That would mean that rifts would be very unlikely to open in any other location on Earth, wouldn't it? I guess rifts opening in America, while uncommon, can still happen." Hawkeye couldn't help but muse a bit about his own thoughts on the matter.
"I remember... there was something happening in Shibuya at the beginning of last year," Kaya mentioned. "I didn't understand what happened at the time, there were just stories of something happening and there was a lot of damage, including a giant hole in one of the buildings. Thinking about it, I think a Digimon was the one that caused that. It kinda scares me to think about the kinda things Digimon can do all over the world..." The incident Kaya was describing was the day that the new DATS formally introduced themselves after two Digimon arrived in Shibuya with a Dark Spire.
Mimi brought up her own two cents about Dark Digivolution, saying that it's essentially what happens when a Digimon snaps under the pressure while they're trying to Digivolve quickly, and when a Digimon snaps, it's not like when a human snaps. The Digimon goes crazy, becoming a true monster. "So it could happen to any one of us if we aren't in a right state of mind at the time of Digivolution..." It was truly a miracle that it hadn't happened to Hawkeye yet.
Switching the topic to the otaku Tentomon Kazuo, Mimi joked about hoping he didn't get up close and personal with any authorities potentially like AEGIS or DATS. "Don't worry, he knows not to mess around with DATS... at least I hope not. Don't really know about his partner Yuji though."
Things got a bit heavier than either Kaya or Hawkeye would have liked after that. It was definitely a hard thing to do, talking about something bad that happened in your past. It took a great ordeal for Hawkeye to share it with Kaya, and sharing and communicating was easier for him ever since but... talking about that day was still a bit much. "Indeed, let us change the subject," he eventually said. "Do either of you potentially know anything of a RedMagnamon? We are currently searching for a Digimon going by that name."

As Hawkeye mused over the barrier between the two worlds, and how it was weakest around Shibuya, Andrei and Mimi would both nod along. "I suppose I just had some real bad luck on my side there, huh?" Andrei would briefly muse; sighing a little. Hopefully, there weren't others in the Digital World who were dealing with the same sort of bad luck that he did. Still, his smile would soon return - mentioning with an optimistic hue "At least I've been able to meet folks like Haineko, and Mimi, and you guys, though."
Gotta look at the silver lining to everything!
Kaya's descriptions of an incident in Shibuya the year before, though, would make a worried expression cross Andrei's face. "Geez..." He'd murmur, scratching the back of his head. "I guess I never thought of it that way, to be honest; that definitely sounds scary..." Had there ever been events, in his area, that could've been attributed to being from a digimon?
Mimi, though, would casually remark "Eh. For every dipshit causing trouble, there's like, twenty goody two-shoes that come out of the woodworks to stop them; it's like you can't walk 10 feet without finding someone who wants to marry a rulebook." Really, the fact there were so many humans running around in the Digital World nowadays was probably proof of that fact! Gesturing with a claw, she would conclude "At least those sorts keep shit from getting too crazy, though, when they have more than one braincell. Damage might happen here and there, but I doubt anyone would be enough of a dumbass to sit around and let a random Digimon run rampant for too long, or be enough of a dumbass to escalate or instigate a situation."
"Or that's what I hope, at least. Sometimes, you can only really trust some folks as far as you can throw em, as far as competency goes."
As subjects came up and concluded though, Hawkeye would soon confirm that he did, indeed, want a change of subject. Andrei would offer the Hawkeye a warm smile and another pat on the shoulder, before sitting back - pondering over the other's question. "Don't believe I've met any RedMagnamons, while working at the spa." He would respond, thinking hard. "Don't think I recall hearing any talks about red Magnamons specifically, either. Sorry,"
"Yeah, haven't heard or seen anything like that either." Mimi would add, seeming to be in thought. It didn't really ring a bell to her - even when she'd typically be keeping an eye out for any juicy gossip - but then again, it was completely possible that she had brushed aside any info that wasn't of direct interest to her. "Why ya looking for a RedMagnamon, anyways?"
Magnamon were typically Mega level - if Hawkeye was looking for a fight, then Mimi figured that it was likely his Ultimate would do jack-shit against a Mega. So clearly, there had to be some other intention up Hawkeye's and Kaya's sleeves, right?
