If there was a level of boredom beyond boredom, Miki thought that she had attained it. Sitting on the dock with a pole in hand, she sat uncomfortably, wondering if she was ever gonna get a bite. Sitting around doing nothing wasn't her strong suit, unfortunately. The bench placed for the hopeful anglers had a little creak to it, and Miki passed the time by squirming in place to create a rhythmic beat. Thankfully there wasn't anyone nearby, at least that the girl could see.
In fact, this late in the evening, there wasn't much of anyone around. Which made it all the more tempting to throw her fishing rod aside, dive into the water, and see if she can grab one of those finny bastards with her bare hands. She had to shake her head, though. No... she had to learn how to do this! Fishing could be a potentially life-saving skill out in the wild, so she had to learn how to get good at it! Though for all the tutorials she watched online, nothing seemed to improve her catch rate. She wondered if there were some kind of tutor she could find, or some ancient wise fishing guru that she could bump into one of these days.
Maybe if she were able to fish using other methods then Miki might be able to get into it more. Sadly, the people running the dock didn't allow spear-fishing. Miki asked.
But it was beginning to get dark soon, so she had to get going. Leaving empty-handed would be kind of a bummer though, so she figured she could wait another five minutes... see if she got a bite.
Five more minutes couldn't hurt, right?

While it was true that there were not many people in Miyashita Park at this time of the day, there at least was another group that was just exploring the park around that time. The two almost-siblings, 20 year old Adrian Boriker and 13 year old Kaya Matsui, as well as their two Digimon, Shoutmon and Hawkeye... this time not in holosuit. They figured there weren't many people around, so they could walk in their original forms for the time being.
The purpose of this walk was to give Adrian and Kaya a good chance to hang out and discuss each others' adventures with Digimon after they each discovered the other was a Digimon Tamer. And given what happened WHEN they each found out, it was safe to say that they hadn't fully discussed it until now.
"So let me get this straight... the DinoHumon in the Digital Shift was THAT devoted to chasing after you two?" Kaya asked Adrian as he was telling his story about their adventure in the museum's Digital Shift.
"No matter what we did, that Digimon was absolutely devoted to trying to catch me and Shoutmon."
"The dude even showed up during the battle with the MasterTyrannomon at the end of it all. I couldn't believe my eyes at first, honestly!"
"The lengths some people and Digimon will go to for absurd reasons, it seems."
As they were walking by the docks, Adrian noticed that there was definitely someone there. By the looks of it, it was a teenage girl who was fishing on the docks... and didn't look particularly thrilled about doing so, either. Kaya and the Digimon quickly noticed her sitting there as well. Maybe if they continued walking fast enough she wouldn't notice the literal monsters walking around? That was apparently their (flawed) judgement as they did just that; pick up the pace down the trail and hope that the girl didn't see them.

As she was going to reel in her line and get ready to leave, she suddenly felt a little tug as her line when taut. "Oh?" That meant that... "Oh!" She gripped the handle of her rod tightly. She had finally gotten a bite! All that patience was worth it, after all! Wait... not just yet! Getting a bite was only the first part now! Now came the hard part! Thankfully for Miki, it was also the most exciting! She couldn't afford to get complacent just yet!
Standing up, the girl was preparing for a fight! "Alrighty, Mr. Fish! I promise I'll put you back once we're done here, but this isn't something I can't back down from!" Why was she talking to a fish? The more important question was why she was talking to a fish that probably more than a little distracted at the moment.
Miki couldn't afford to just pull on the line right away, however. They was a good way to break her line if she wasn't careful. Instead, she had to tire the fish out, first. And when it couldn't put up a fight anymore, she had to strike! She honestly felt a little bad for the poor fishie, but she heard somewhere that fish had really bad memories, so hopefully this fish wouldn't be too traumatized!
"You've got a lot of fight in you, but... huh?" She suddenly felt something strange. The tension in her line had loosened for a moment, then all at once, she felt a tug like never before! Did a bigger fish suddenly gobble up the first fish she had caught? Whatever the reason, all of a suddenly it became a lot harder!
"This is a really tough one, but I'm.... not... gonna.... lose!" She boldly declared. She felt like she was gonna tire out before the fish, so she made one last ditch effort She stabilized her stance, and then pulled back with all her might! If her line broke, then that just mean the fish won!
But for this fight, it was Miki who would emerge victorious, as out from the water came...
The strangest seal Miki had ever seen. White and purple, with... red hair!? "YEEEOOWWW!!!" It yelled out in pain, flying right towards Miki. It struck the girl in the chest and sent the both of them sprawling backwards. She fell back onto the bench behind her, the seal tumbling onto her lap.. Miki looked down at the creature as it looked back up to her with bright green eyes. It gave a pained expression, then pulled a hook from its front flipper. "If you're going for a swim, be really careful!" He suddenly warned her. A seal. Speaking the same language as Miki. "Someone's throwing hooks into the water! All the poor fishies are getting caught up in it!"
Miki couldn't do much else other than scream in surprise. Which in turn prompted the seal to scream as well.
So needless to say, no one was noticing the other humans and Digimon nearby.

While the group was walking away a girl's scream could suddenly be heard, which was then followed up by another scream on top of that. Of course hearing screaming like that in a relatively calm park wasn't exactly normal, so all four were on edge at the moment. Taking the initiative, Adrian turned around and headed back to the fishing girl first, with Shoutmon, Kaya and Hawkeye following not too far behind.
If it's a Digimon then that girl could be in trouble, was what Adrian was thinking as he ran back. He knew that some Digimon could find their way to the human world and cause trouble, hence why he and Shoutmon were Digimon Hunters, so to speak; finding Digimon in the human world and sending them back to the Digital World.
Running onto the dock, Adrian could see clearly now that it was a Digimon on the girl's lap, a Gomamon from what Adrian remembered from searching the Digimon Wikipedia thing, the two of them still screaming at each other. Did... did she actually fish up that Gomamon? Huh... that was a first.
Still though, this was something that couldn't just be ignored, could it? Of course he didn't EXACTLY know what to do, so Adrian just kinda stood there with a surprised look on his face as he stared at the human and Digimon.

After her scream, Miki stared back at the talking seal's eyes, completely and utterly flabbergasted by the situation at hand. When Miki blinked, the seal blinked, and right when she was about to speak up, so too did the seal.
"So..." "Hey..."
There was an awkward pause for a bit. "Oh, sorry, you go first!" The seal insisted, surprisingly polite.
"No, no... you can go!" Miki replied. She didn't get the opportunity to speak with a talking animal everyday, after all! She might as well see what it had to say!
"Oh, thanks!" He stated with a smile before speaking. "You wouldn't happen to know how to get to the human world, would you? 'Cause I was going for a swim, wondering how I should get there, and then I just kinda popped up here!" He looked around for a bit, spotting Adrian and his posse, though Miki hadn't quite noticed them yet. She wasn't an oblivious girl by any means, but she was a little distracted by the talking animal resting on her lap.
"Human world...?" Miki repeated, a little confused by the creature's word choice. Well, she supposed humans did control a good portion of the planet. Though she began to wonder what other sea creatures thought of her species, now that apparently they were intelligent enough to hold a conversation. This was a weird evening for the girl.
"Yeah, the world where all the humans live! You don't look like any Digimon I've ever seen! Or a fishie, for that matter!"
"Digimon?" What the heck was that supposed to be? Well, at least she didn't look like a fish! "I don't really know what you're talking about..."
"You don't? That's a bummer..." The creature sighed, glancing over towards Adrian, Shoutmon, Kaya, and Hawkeye. "Well... there seems to be awful lot of Digimon here for this to be the human world, so I'm probably still in the Digital World..."
This time Miki looked over there to see an older boy and a girl that looked to be close to her own age. Also two strange creatures alongside them. She froze as she saw even more strange creatures. A birdman and... a rock and roll lizard?
Yep. Definitely gonna be a weird evening. But it sure as heck beat fishing!

Adrian continued watching as the human girl and the Gomamon continued speaking to each other, the others slowly approaching more onto the dock to provide backup if need be. There really wasn't any way that Adrian could've interjected himself into this conversation naturally, by the looks of things. So all he could do was listen and hope that they noticed him eventually.
At least Adrian got the gist of what was going on. The Gomamon was wanting to get to the human world but didn't know how, but then suddenly he just... appeared here? Wait, could that mean that there was a portal somewhere in the water?
He wouldn't get to think much of it for long however, as the Gomamon eventually acknowledged the other group's existence, allowing Miki to turn around and see the others as well. Including both Shoutmon and Hawkeye.
"Er... hi?" Adrian awkwardly greeted the pre-teen girl. "I can tell you're very confused right now, but we can explain everything to you, I promise. Just... try not to freak out too much, okay? I'm Adrian, and this is Kaya, Shoutmon and Hawkeye." Adrian would point to each respective figure as he introduced them.
"You look... familiar. Do you go to the Shibuya Academy Junior High?" Kaya asked. She felt like she had seen this girl somewhere before...

The boy spoke up, encouraging Miki not to freak out too much, and willing to explain things. Welp... there wasn't any point in freaking out, after all! Either all of this was real, or she had fallen asleep fishing and all of this was a dream. But considering she wasn't going on an Indiana Jones-esque adventure through a trap-filled tomb, or the fact that this guy and girl weren't her mom and dad... this was probably actually happening. Nope! No time for getting sad, though!
"Got it!" Miki confirmed, pepping up and giving the bot a thumbs-up! "No freaking out!" The boy introduced his little posse to Miki and Gomamon, and she nodded as he did so. "Nice to meet ya, everyone! I'm Miki! Tatsumi Miki!"
"And I'm Gomamon!" Gomamon added, hopping off of Miki's lap and leaning over the edge of the dock, playfully running his fingers/claws through the water. When Kaya asked if Miki went to Shibuya Junior High, however, Gomamon spoke up before Miki could. "Shbooyah June-yer High? That doesn't sound like any place in the Digital World that I know of! So I can't say that I've ever been there, sorry!"
"I think... she was talking to me..." Miki answered, facing the strange aquatic creature with a nervous chuckle. She turned back to Kaya and nodded, though. "But I'm a student there!" She tilted her head in thought. Miki didn't recognize her, but about a gajillion kids went to school there, and admittedly Miki wasn't the best with faces. "Just a little bit longer until high school for me!" And after that, was the freedom to go where she pleased!
But before all of that... what was the deal with all these weird creatures popping up. "So... Shoutmon... Hawkeye... and Gomamon... Are seals, birds, and lizards all moving around and talking these days? I wish someone would have told me!" Especially if this applied to fish... She'd be feeling more than a little guilty now!

The group all sweatdropped when the girl did exactly what was requested and didn't freak out, acting as she probably would have if there were no talking monsters in the area. They didn't expect that she'd actually listen, so it was kind of a surprise when she introduced herself as Miki Tatsumi. Adrian just chuckled and smiled after recovering from the surprise. "You know, you kinda remind me of a character I've seen from a game... then again most people and Digimon do to me these days."
When Gomamon hopped off to Miki's lap to run his claws through the water, Shoutmon and Hawkeye would go up to join him, though not to run their own fingers/claws through the water. "Well I suppose it's lucky that you showed up here as a Gomamon and not, say, a Seadramon," Hawkeye mused.
"AEGIS woulda been here ASAP if he was something like a Seadramon," Shoutmon stated.
"Hmmm, that is true. Still, I'm curious as to how you got here. Is there a portal under the water?"
Now was probably a good time to explain to Miki just what these creatures were. "So how do I put this... these creatures are-"
"They're digital monsters," Kaya said, completely interrupting Adrian. "I know, a monster being made of computer data is COMPLETELY ridiculous, but it's true! There's an entire world that's made of data too! Sometimes a human and a Digimon will even be paired together to make the Digimon super strong! I'm paired with Hawkeye, and Adrian is paired with Shoutmon. How funny would it be if you and Gomamon were paired, too?"

"I look like a girl from a game?" Miki responded to Adrian's comment. That was certainly out of the blue! Well, Miki didn't play too many games, but she had seen posters of game characters and stuff. Was that Adrian's way of saying that he thought Miki was cute? "I'm... flattered. I guess! Thank you!" It certainly wasn't something she was expecting, that's for sure! But when someone says something nice about you, it's your turn to say something nice back! "And I guess you look like you could be an anime protagonist, or something! I'm digging the goggles! I think they'd look weird on most people, but you're really pulling them off!"
As Hawkeye and Shoutmon approached Gomamon, the aquatic Digimon gave the pair a friendly smile. They mentioned a few stuff he could understand, and some stuff he didn't. "Ah, I'm not old enough to become a Seadramon, yet! Though I guess I don't know if that's what I'll become or not! I sure hope I stay an aquatic Digimon, though! There's nothing like swimming around the ocean! It's like flying, but really snug and cozy!" Though he wasn't too sure what the AEGIS thing was. "But what's an 'Aegis'?"
He said it loud enough for Miki to overhear, and she found herself turning her head over towards the seal Digimon. "It's from Greek mythology, today it symbolizes protection or defense!" She blurted out. Gomamon nodded like he understood.
"Okay!" He said and went back to tilting his head and chuckled. "Though I still don't get it!"
Kaya went on to explain what Digimon were, as Miki crossed her arms and gave the girl a thoughtful stare. "Hmm... so they're like computer programs, but totally alive and stuff?" She moved over towards the three Digimon, examining them closely. Then she poked at Shoutmon's body, patted at Hawkeye's feathery chest, and then rubbed Gomamon's heed, feeling the fur in between her fingers. She couldn't deny that they existed, but they were all apparently made of data? "And there's a whole world full of really cute talking animals like these three?"
Kaya had also mentioned that they some Digimon had a human partner. If Shoutmon and Hawkeye had their partners, then Gomamon would have one too, right? Her eyes moved down to a strange-looking device dangling around the aquatic Digimon's neck. She guessed that if every human had a cell phone, then every Digimon might have a device like that, too? Still, something about it drew her in. White and purple, colored just like Gomamon. She poked it for a second, only for it to suddenly emit a bright light. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I just touched it without thinking!"
"Oh, yeah!" Gomamon exclaimed as if he just remembered something. "I've been looking for this device's owner! A one-armed wizardmon and his Leomon boyfriend said I should go looking in the human world, so I guess everything worked out just fine!"
She had been able to follow along reasonably well so far, but now it was Miki's turn to be just a tad confused.

"Yeah, that sorta look is definitely what I was going for," Adrian responded to the compliment, "though I don't always know if I'm pulling it off that well. Besides, I haven't really done anything protagonist-worthy quite yet."
"Are ya kidding me, Adri? You're totally like a main character to me!" Shoutmon responded. Adrian smiled back but the compliment didn't really reach him since, well, Shoutmon was Adrian's partner, he was supposed to say stuff like that, right? Shoutmon would then turn back to Gomamon. "Yeah, I like swimming too. I even got a water-based Armor form!"
"Swimming has never been for me. Besides, if I get wet then my feathers become incredibly heavy and I'd just look ridiculous afterward."
"How about if someone, say... pushed you in?"
"Anyone who does that to me will learn to regret their decision."
Gomamon was a bit confused on what AEGIS actually was. "AEGIS is a human world group. 'Artificial Extradimensional Guarding and Investigation Squad.' They basically make sure that Earth stays protected in case insane high level Digimon arrive to destroy everything. They won't cause you any trouble unless you decide to cause some trouble yourself."
Shoutmon and Hawkeye were not prepared to have this random human girl touch them, both blushing as Shoutmon's belly was poked and Hawkeye's chest was patted. Hawkeye's blush was far more visible as he had very little natural redness on his face to hide it as he stepped back a bit. "Please do not touch me again without warning."
"He's a little bit high-strung," Kaya commented, "don't worry about him."
"And not all Digimon are cute like this. There are some that are... well, terrifying. Like horror movie levels of terrifying, honestly. That's where the partner Digimon come in."
It was then that the device on Gomamon's neck made itself known. Miki bent down to poke the device before it suddenly emitted a bright light, prompting Gomamon to bring up that he was searching for the Digivice's owner. A one armed Wizardmon and a Leomon told him to go searching in the human world. "A Wizardmon and Leomon couple... I think we know them! Mandrake and Lothar, right?"
"Wait, what do you mean by 'one-armed'? What happened to him?"

Miki was still confused at all the terminology being thrown around. She didn't quite understand some things. Armor form? Like a blacksmith? Then Adrian started explaining some kind of organization named AEGIS. For some reason her mind wandered to a group of people in black suits erasing people's memories and stuff. She supposed that was why she had never heard of Digimon before. Especially since something Adrian said earlier, like Digimon showing up in the human world was something that happened on the regular. Still, she couldn't be too sure.
Shoutmon seemed to be teasing Hawkeye about his aversion to water, and Gomamon just couldn't agree with that sentiment! Maybe if he just gave the bird Digimon a little shove, he would get to experience the joys of the ocean for himself! He moved behind the Hawkmon, but when he stated his clear disdain for such an act... the Gomamon backed away. Maybe another day, when they were better friends. They had just met, after all!
Clearly, the Digimon didn't appreciate being touched, though. Miki waved her hands out, saying, "Sorry, sorry! This is all so new and strange that I just had to feel for myself! But I won't do it anymore, promise!" Didn't stop her from touching the Digivice, though, and Gomamon seemed into the head rub.
"Ehehe... that tickles..." He said as the light from the Digivice died down. He removed the Digivice from his neck and handed it to Miki. "I guess that means this is your, Miki! I just happened to stumble upon it in the Digital World, so I figured I'd look for its owner! So I guess that person's you now!" He gave the girl a smile and then turned to Adrian. "Oh, yeah! Those were their names! And Mandrake had some kind of para..." He wasn't really paying too much attention to their story, admittedly. Parachute? Para-social relationship? Wait, it was... "A parasite! Mandrake had a parasite so Lothar had to cut off his arm to save their baby or something!"
Miki covered her mouth in horror as the Gomamon explained his meeting with the lovers. "Then... are they okay, now...?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah!" Gomamon assured her, patting her shoulder in a surprisingly comforting manner. "Mandrake got a robot arm, so I guess he has two arms again!"
"Oh, thank goodness..." Miki let out a sigh of relief at the end of Gomamon's story. She had some questions about the whole robot arm thing, but other than that, she was glad for the happy ending. Then came an awkward silence.
So... what was next for the six of them?

Hawkeye raised a wing towards Miki after she had apologized. "It is not truly the matter of being touched itself. I just did not like how I was touched without warning."
"His feathers are pretty soft, aren't they?" Kaya asked Miki afterwards. "You honestly wouldn't think that considering Hawkeye's personality."
Shoutmon definitely noticed how Gomamon was getting closer and closer to Hawkeye as he and the red dragon talked about swimming, and Hawkeye shared his distaste for the activity. He was clearly going to push the Hawkmon into the lake, but Hawkeye's distain for it caused Gomamon to back out of the action. Well, Shoutmon wasn't Gomamon. When he wasn't expecting it, Shoutmon placed a hand on Hawkeye's back... before giving him a good shove right off the dock.
"AAAH-!" Hawkeye yelled before he entered the water with a loud "splash", gaining the attention of both Adrian and Kaya. The bird Digimon reemerged from the water and grabbed onto the dock, pulling himself up with probably the angriest look someone could ever have as he glared at Shoutmon, his soaked feathers making him look MUCH thinner than before. "You... are... dead!"
"Come on, the water isn't that bad."
"It's close to winter, the water was freezing!"
Meanwhile Adrian and Kaya both couldn't help but laugh at the scenario their partners had gotten themselves into. Whether those two liked it or not, they were definitely forming something similar to a friendship, even if that friendship had a bunch of weird flaws like this...
The device around Gomamon's neck was beginning to glow, after Miki had pet the little guy on the head as well. Which had to mean that the device was Miki's and that Gomamon was her partner. "New Tamers and Spirit Users are popping up every day it seems... before we know it everyone in Shibuya's gonna have a Digimon."
When Mandrake the Wizardmon was brought up, Gomamon mentioned that Mandrake had a parasite that ended up requiring him to have his arm cut off and getting a bionic arm in replacement. The group clearly didn't enjoy hearing about this, especially Adrian and Shoutmon who had met Mandrake before. "So parasites like that can be found in the Digital World too... gonna be more careful next time we go."
Wanting to change the subject from Digimon's arms being cut off, Kaya then spoke up. "Hey, I know! We should show you the Digital World now that you have a Digimon partner! It's where the Digimon come from, after all!"

Miki bowed her head as a little apology once more. "Don't worry! I'll ask next time, okay?" But by the time Hawkeye could have answered, Shoutmon had already pushed him into the water. The rather cold water. Well, cold if you weren't a seal Digimon like Gomamon.
"Huh? Well, it doesn't feel all that cold to me..." Gomamon stated, a little confused by the bird Digimon's comment. But Miki had another thought on her mind.
"It's okay!" Miki cried out, reaching into her bag and pulling out a towel. She was worried she would get wet, after all, so she figured to bring one. She just didn't think she would have to use it on a talking bird creature. She moved up to Hawkeye, then stopped. "Umm... may I help dry you off? It wouldn't be very good if you got sick, right?" Of course, Hawkeye was always free to just take the towel and dry himself off, but it was easier for someone else to dry you off, after all!
And Gomamon was listening in on Adrian and Kaya's comments. Parasites and whatever didn't really interest him, mostly because he didn't understand, but what Kaya said made sense. "Oh, yeah! That reminds me! There's a little thingy of light a little bit further out into the water!" He pointed towards the water just a bit further off. Maybe it was because it was getting just a bit darker now, but a faint light was certainly coming out of the water.
"I was just swimming around that Whitewater place, and then I suddenly find myself over here! Funny how things work out!"

It was definitely a sudden turn of events when Shoutmon had pushed Hawkeye into the cold lake water as he had just did. When the Hawkmon pulled himself back onto the dock, his feathers were completely soaked and he was shivering too. Gomamon commented on how the water didn't feel all that cold to him. "That's because you're a water Digimon, meanwhile my place is in the air and not the water..."
To try and help the soaked avian, Miki pulled out a towel from her bag and asked if he wanted help drying off. Hawkeye didn't say a word, grabbing the towel from Miki and drying him off himself before Kaya came in to help anyways. Even Shoutmon used his fire powers to warm up his hands before hovering them over Hawkeye like a type of heater.
"And I just get to stand here and watch," Adrian commented, feeling useless in this situation.
Once Hawkeye was done getting dry, Gomamon mentioned how there was a little "thingy of light" further out into the water, which was definitely visible by this point. He mentioned how he was swimming in Whitewater before suddenly finding himself here. That only meant one thing...
"That's a Digiport."
"No doubt about it, but why did one form here of all places?"
"It's in the water... like the Digiport I fell into when I first met Hawkeye."
"How big is it? We may need to close it before something like a Seadramon decides to come through it."

"You're worrying about that stuff too much!" Gomamon said with a smile, patting the Hawkmon on the back like they were the bestest friends in the whole wide world. "You just gotta get used to it, you know? Then you'll love the ocean! I know I sure do!"
Hawkeye, Kaya, and Shoutmon seemed to have things under control, so Miki decided to join Adrian in the feeling useless club. She looked up to the young man and shook her head and patted his arm. "It's okay! Even if you're useless today, you can be useful tomorrow! I bet there's a bunch of stuff you can do that everyone else can't!" She pointed to the goggles. "Like... watching 3-D movies, and being able to see in a sandstorm!" Why she thought of a sandstorm, nobody knew, but she wasn't technically wrong. Then a thought came to her head. "Oh... maybe I should get a pair of goggles for myself... Do you know a place that sells them cheap? You can never be too prepared!"
Once the wet bird incident was behind the group, Miki and Gomamon's attention to the light within the water, made more apparent by the dimming evening atmosphere. "Digiport?" Like a place near the ocean? Or maybe it was a portal? Seeing as that's where Gomamon said he came from, a portal was more likely. But a Seadramon? Well... it had "mon" at the end, like Gomamon, and Shoutmon, so maybe it was a Digimon of some sort?
"I think it's a good Digiport!" Gomamon assured Adrian with a disturbing amount of confidence. "After all, it brought me here, and I got to come to the human world and deliver the Digivice! So it can't be all that bad, right? What if there are other Digimon that need to deliver Digivices? And I've met some pretty stand-up Seadramon, so I don't think it'll be a problem if one or two come to visit!"
