Hawkeye didn't even say anything to Gomamon when the seal Digimon kept insisting that the archer would love the water if he just "got used to it." Instead, the Hawkmon just glared at Gomamon with a look that just screamed "That isn't happening, and you better not continue to say that it will." Hawkeye wasn't always the nicest Digimon, and Gomamon was sure to learn that real soon.
Miki proved herself to be just as positive as Gomamon was as she tried to cheer up Adrian, referring to his goggles and saying he could watch 3D movies or walk through sandstorms with them. "I don't think goggles have the same effect as proper 3D glasses do. My brother actually gave these to me before he went off to college. Worn 'em every day since then."
Back to the Digiport, which Miki had just asked about. "If you're thinking it's a portal to the Digital World, that's exactly what it is." The talk about closing the Digiport caused Gomamon to speak up, saying it must've been a "good" Digiport since it brought him here, and that he had met some good Seadramons in the past so it'd be good if one came to visit. Clearly this Gomamon was lacking in the brains department. "Well I've met Seadramons that wanted me deader than dead, and Digiports are pretty inclusive of all types of Digimon."
"I think my Digivice could close it manually," Adrian says as he puts his goggles over his eyes and pressed a button, causing a special mask that allowed him to breathe underwater to appear over the rest of his face. "We're gonna have to go down there, I'm not comfortable with leaving it open. You ready, Shoutmon?"
"Do you even gotta ask?" Shoutmon responded before both he and his Tamer jumped into the lake, swimming downward closer to the source of light in the water. Kaya and Hawkeye would watch as they went deeper and deeper down below the surface of the lake before the two of them reached the Digiport.
"Kind of a small Digiport, isn't it?" Adrian mused upon encountering it. He activated the Digivice on his left wrist and held it up to the Digiport...
...before a giant white arm with black claws shot out, wrapping around Adrian tightly. The young man struggled as he tried to release himself from this arm's grasp, but its grip was very strong. Miki and Gomamon were likely to see this struggle occuring, as Kaya and Hawkeye definitely were able to!

Gomamon seemed confused by Hawkeye's death glare. The aquatic Digimon couldn't make heads or fins of the bird Digimon's emotions, though it did sort of seem like he was mad. "Hey, you should cheer up! You're with friends, so don't be such a sourpuss!" Naturally, this would definitely cheer the avian Digimon up! After all, he just needed a little encouragement!
After that... everything seemed to happen pretty quickly. Miki nodded as she began to ponder the fact that not only Digital Monsters from another world existed, but that there was one such portal nearby that some not-so-friendly monsters could come out of. So not all Digimon were cute and cuddly like Shoutmon, Hawkeye, and Gomamon here.
Adrian and Shoutmon dove into the water to close it up somehow. Did those devices have that kind of power? Miki was about to ask Kaya about it before she saw something out of the corner of her eye. A long tentacle extended from the portal of light and wrapped around Adrian!
Miki didn't know what exactly was happening, but it was clear that the young man needed help. Miki immediately turned and reached into her bag. She had to have had something useful in there... fishing rod, bait, tackle... Damn it! Why didn't she by that harpoon from that shady dealer? But there still had to be something, right? She kicked off her shoes and threw off her outer shirt so they wouldn't get wet, and dove into the cold water. She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but why should she care? There was someone who needed help!
And much to her surprise, besides her was Gomamon, already swimming ahead. "Marching Fishies!!!" He yelled out, and out from the portal, squeezed several colorful fish that swarmed around Adrian and faced their conjurer. "Attention, my friends and comrades! Commence 'Operation: Coochy Coo!'" And upon command, Gomamon's friends swarmed the tentacle, gently rubbing up against it in an attempt to elicit a tickling sensation in the Digimon arm.

"Since when did I ever consider you my friend?" Hawkeye asked Gomamon as he looked at the seal right in the eyes. If this didn't conveniently sum up what the Hawkmon thought of him by this point, surely nothing will... and it will also prove that Gomamon really wasn't all that bright, or just had a very hard time understanding others' reactions, either one worked.
While Adrian and Shoutmon were in the water to close up the DigiPort, Kaya gasped as the former was suddenly grabbed by a long white tentacle-claw hybrid thing. Something like that happening was definitely never good, and she was immediately scared about her brother-figure. She turned to her side and saw that Miki was preparing to dive into the water herself, only being stopped by Kaya grabbing her arm before she could dive in. "Are you crazy?! That water is freezing cold, you can't dive in there!" Of course Kaya's twig arms couldn't stop Miki at all as she immediately was released from Kaya's grip and dove in anyways.
It wasn't just Miki diving in after Adrian, however, as Gomamon took action and went into the lake as well. All Kaya and Hawkeye could do at this point was watch and hope for the best...
Meanwhile, Shoutmon tried desperately to release Adrian from the claw's own grip but he was only a rookie facing against what was presumably a champion. Adrian couldn't digivolve Shoutmon at the moment, so Shoutmon too was useless when trying to save his own partner. Which, of course, made Shoutmon even angrier.
"GET OFF MY PARTNER, GRABBY!!" Shoutmon tried to say, but failed since he was underwater. Suddenly from the portal, tons of colorful fish emerged and surrounded Adrian and started rubbing up against the white tentacle that was holding onto the human. The arm trembled before finally releasing its capture, Adrian taking no time to lose to swim away before he was grabbed onto again.
"What the... was this Gomamon's doing?" Adrian asked himself as he looked around. Before it was deemed that the group was now in the clear, the Digimon came through the portal once again. Only this time it wasn't just a tentacle, it was now the face of the Digimon trying its hardest to fit through the tiny portal as it roared. It was angry, and it wanted revenge. "A Gesomon...!"

Okay, so maybe going into the water wasn't such a good idea. But it wasn't like Miki could stand by and do nothing! That would have made for a terrible impression as the "girl who stands by and does nothing" for a character's introductory thread! So she simply swam over to Adrian, tapping him on the shoulder. The water was too damned cold to try to talk without chattering her teeth, so she simply jerked her thumb back towards the docks. Just because Miki didn't understand Digital World stuff didn't entirely remove her common sense, after all. If there was a dangerous sea animal in the water, then you should get out before nature runs its course!
But there was still Gomamon, and he had a few choice words for the angry Gesomon! "Hey there, Gesomon!" He waved towards the beast in a friendly tone. "I know you're really angry, but you're gonna get yourself stuck inside the portal if you keep that up! I get that you're probably lonely over there, but I promise that we can hang out and play sometime the next time I visit the Digital World, okay? So you don't have to drag any of the nice humans back to our world!"

Adrian felt something tap his shoulder as soon as he was out of the grabbing range for the Gesomon that they were now dealing with. Turning around, he would come face to face with Miki herself, who had dove into the water without any kind of protection against the cold. His eyes widened, as he grabbed the young girl's arm and pulled her up with him as he swam back up to the dock.
Once they were above the surface, Adrian would help put Miki back onto the dock, with Kaya and Hawkeye both helping to pull her back up as well. "Shoutmon and I will be up soon, make sure she stays as warm as possible until we get back," was all Adrian said before he went back into the water. Gomamon wasn't going to be able to deal with Gesomon by himself!
Kaya scrambled to grab not only any available towels but also Miki's outer shirt to cover her up so that her body retained as much heat as possible. "I can't believe you just jumped in there, that water is freezing cold!"
"The only reason Adrian was able to survive is because he most likely had a device called an EV suit," Hawkeye explained. "It's a device that surrounds a human in a thin shell of energy to protect them from things like life-threatening temperatures. What you did was noble, but incredibly foolish." Hawkeye would then sigh. "You're almost exactly like Kaya."
Back in the water, Gomamon was not getting through to Gesomon at all. If anything, Gesomon was even angrier than before, roaring right at Gomamon and attempting to grab him as well. Now that Adrian was back in the water and free from its grasp, things could finally turn around for them. "Get ready, Shoutmon," Adrian announced before extending his left wrist, where he wore his Digivice. "Digimental Up!"
A dark blue mask would then magically appear on Shoutmon's face. "Shoutmon, Armor Evolution!" The rest of Shoutmon's body would then glow and morph to fit the mask more, before materializing in a state reminiscent of a cross between a fish and a dragon, with light blue scales. "Tylomon!"
Shoutmon has Armor Digivolved to Tylomon!

Thankfully, Miki wasn't in the water for very long. Or else that might have had some lasting consequences. Before she knew it, she was being dragged back down onto the docks and surrounded in warmth. In fact, she latched onto Kaya and Hawkeye as tightly as she could. Hey, nothing wrong with a little more warmth, right?
"F-f-f-f-fortune... f-f-f-favors the b-b-b-bold-d-d..." Miki finally responded once she got her senses about her. Was it a good response to Hawkeye's criticism? Of course not, but she was freezing, dammit! So she was kinda busy freezing her butt off while Adrian jumped back into the water. Because he apparently had laser armor or whatever. Hawkeye's description was slightly muted by the sound of the girl's teeth chattering.
Meanwhile, as Tylomon joined Gomamon and Gesomon's conversation, and the seal Digimon waved at the evolved Shoutmon. "Hiya! And this is Shoutmon! Or Tylomon, now! And he'll play with you later, too! But you gotta leave the portal alone, okay, Gesomon? You don't wanna get stuck in it again, right? So just stay on that side, and we'll come over to your place and hang out!"
Though Gomamon didn't have any idea on how to get over to Gesomon's place. Perhaps they could arrange a meeting over the Tamernet? Did Gomamon even know that the Tamernet existed?

It was fortunate that Kaya and Hawkeye knew that there was nothing else around to keep Miki warm at this time, otherwise they'd be confused about why she was suddenly hugging them close to her right now. Of course Hawkeye still didn't LIKE that this was happening, but he couldn't deny her a source of heat right now, could he?
Miki would then respond once she had her bearings in order, saying something about how fortune favors the bold. "There's a difference between being bold and being stupid," Hawkeye said.
Back in the water, Shoutmon had just armor evolved to Tylomon and was now ready to rumble against the Gesomon trying to come through to the human world. Once again Gomamon was just not quite getting it, as he still thought Gesomon just wanted to play and kept asking him to get back on his side of the portal. Gomamon was cute at first, but since this was a legitimately serious situation the seal Digimon was now starting to get on his nerves. "Gomamon, Gesomon doesn't want to- WATCH OUT!"
Tylomon saw as Gesomon raised his free tentacle upwards and began to swerve it back down, wanting to actually hit Gomamon this time. Thankfully Tylomon was able to swim up fast enough and get Gomamon out of the way in time, taking him far enough away from Gesomon's reach. "You stay here," Tylomon said before swimming back to the opponent. This time Tylomon was pissed off. "Take this, sushi boy! Ice Blast!"
A beam of ice would shoot out of Tylomon's mouth, hitting Gesomon directly in the face and most likely causing serious freeze burns in the process. And Tylomon would keep this up until Gesomon eventually got annoyed enough and went back to his side of the Digiport, which roughly took half a minute, before Adrian was able to swim up and manually close the rift. Finally, this battle was over...
"Finally... crisis averted," Adrian muttered. He and Tylomon swam back up to the docks, the latter devolving back to Shoutmon once he reached the surface. The first thing he saw was Miki hugging both Kaya and Hawkeye tightly.
"...what's going on here?"
"No time to explain. Quick, warm yourself up, Miki dove into the water earlier."
"Without an EV suit?!" Without hesitation, Shoutmon used his power to warm his body up to act as a living heater before sitting next to Miki. "I should be a better heater than those two over there, Miki!"
