It was just another ordinary day for Airi as she wandered through the streets of Shibuya. She was feeling grumpier than usual for no particular reason. Well, maybe her writer still hadn't gotten around to writing a hunt for her so she was a little pissed about that, but that'll get done eventually... unless it doesn't.
But getting back to the story at hand, Airi was going around, picking pockets, and doing all other sort of petty crimes stuff because her writer still hasn't thought of anything interesting for her to do yet other than "be adorable little girl but not really" and "do the larceny". She didn't have any of her partners on hand at the moment, but this was the human world so she was probably gonna be fine. After all, what could the average human do to a nine-year-old child? Welp, like I said, she was probably gonna be fine.
She decided to reach into one more pocket for the day before going home, "accidentally" bumping into them while simultaneously reaching into their coat pocket. It went off without a hitch as she said, "I'm really sorry, mister! I'll watch where I'm going next time, I promise!" all cute-like before disappearing into the crowd. She'd done it a million times before, and she'd do it again!
Except this time things didn't go off without a hitch. Suddenly she felt someone grab onto her wrist as she tried to disappear into a crowd. She turned around to see a businessman looking down at her, gripping tightly into her arm so much that it hurt.
"Hey... mister... that really hurts, please let me go!"
"I'm sorry little girl, but you shouldn't be committing such evil acts..." He stated with a cold glare. "Stealing is wrong, and doing the wrong thing makes you a bad person. You don't want to be a bad person, do you, little girl?"
It seems that the guy had Airi dead to rights, but she didn't want to admit defeat just yet. Besides, he was the one grabbing onto her. All Airi had to do was scream and there might be someone nearby that would come to help her, even though chances are that would be a lot of trouble in of itself. "I... I don't know what you're talking about!" She lied, letting her unease show on her face. "Please let me go, mister! I have to get home or else my mommy and daddy will get worried about me!"
"I can't do that..." He said. "Lying is a bad thing as well. You're a very bad person. But I'm going to show you a much, much, worse version of yourself..." Suddenly his form flickered and standing in its place, there was a strange humanoid figure, but no doubt a Digimon. He was covered in round mirrors as one on its chest was pointed directly at Airi, showing off her surprised face. But then, Airi saw her reflection smile as it reached out and pulled Airi into the mirror!
"Thanks!" She heard her reflection say, something Airi found to be incredibly disturbing, hearing someone speak using your voice. "I'm going to go have a little fun outside for a while, so why don't you stay inside for a bit, okay?"
And with that, Airi watched as her reflection ran out into the streets of Shibuya while she was trapped within the mirro of a monster. "What the hell... is going on here!?"
"You're just going to learn a little lesson, of what it's like to be evil..." She heard the businessman-turned creepy Digimon state in surround-sound. "Observe..."
Airi looked out through her glass prison to see herself roaming the streets of Shibuya. In the Greater Shibuya area, she watched in horror as she kicked a homeless man awake, telling him that he needed to hide away because there was someone dangerous coming! After the homeless man complied, she took a match and set fire to all of his meager, worldly possessions.
"What the... why the hell did she even do that!?" Airi asked incredulously. As she watched herself skip away while giggling like a joyous schoolgirl.
"She's just looking for a thrill..." She heard the voice explain. "Committing crimes without getting caught is exhilarating, isn't it? She just wants that rush, much like you do when you commit your acts of thievery."
"But I'm just lifting the pocket change from some well-dressed business dude!" Airi countered. "So what if he has a few less dollars to spend, there are people that don't even have that pocket change to spare, like that homeless guy back there!"
"So your thievery is out of the kindness of your heart, then?" The voice asked her. "You see yourself as a modern day Robin Hood?"
"Hell no!" Airi answered almost immediately. "I'm not that kind of a person! But I'm not going around ruining people's lives, either! I'm just living the way I want without hurting or helping anyone! Me, and whoever the hell it is that looks like me are two completely different people!"
"So you're not a bad person, then?" The voice asked her, perhaps a little hesitantly.
"You're the bad person here!" Airi stated instead of answering the question.
"How do you mean?"
"You said that doing bad things makes you a bad person, right?" Airi asked. "Then what would you call kidnapping a little girl and keeping her trapped in some weird little prison, while letting loose an arson-happy maniac into the world?" She gave the creature a moment to think before adding, "Cause between the two of us, I think I know who's getting the "Asshole of the Year" award!"
Airi looked out to see her evil clone duck into an alley where she discovered a stray puppy. She bent down and pet the scrawny little animal.
"Who's a good little hungry boy?" She asked the starving animal, setting down a couple of treats for the creature to eat. A couple chocolate treats.
"Hey, are you really gonna let that staind!?" Airi asked her bizarre warden. "There's being an asshole to teach someone a lesson, and then there's just being an asshole! So hurry up and let me out of here so I can put whatever the hell the other me's supposed to be wherever she needs to go!"
"...Very well..." Suddenly she found herself much closer to her clone, presumably because the creature moved up right in front of her. She saw the creature grab the clone's arm.
"What? But no! I'm not done having a bunch of fun yet!" Her clone complained.
"The hell you aren't!" Airi yelled back, reaching out of the mirror and pulling her clone back inside, then jumping back out. "And stay in there! And if the police show up at my door because of what you did, I'm coming back in there to kick your ass!" She flipped off her own reflection as she scooped the stray puppy away from its illness-inducing treats.
She couldn't hear what the other version of herself was saying, only that she was screaming while pounding on the other side the glass. The weird Digimon looked over towards Airi and nodded. "I will take your words into account, but I still hope that you have learned a valuable lesson, little girl..."
"Whatever... just beat it already!" And with that, the Digimon vanished, never to be seen from Airi ever again. She was left alone with the puppy, who began to angrily nibble at her fingers. "Even human world dogs hate me, too..." She complained, letting out a sigh. "Well... let's get you something to eat that isn't chocolate, shall we?" She let out a small smirk as she added, "Something tells me that we can make some extra pocket change from her to the nearest convenience store!"
