It was strange to feel so at home when she was so very far from that place now. The way the treetops of the Server Woods intertwined with each other made it difficult for the sunlight to shine through, leaving speckled patches of light dotting the forest floor. The intermittent illumination gave the heavily shaded woods an almost mystical and eerie feel. Seeing such a thing reminded her of home, and how she too had lived in the shadows in the city of light.
Raimei was brought back to reality by a weight shifting on her back. She turned her head to glance back at the lalamon clinging to her. The younger digimon seemed more lively now that it had been brought back to the forest. However, its demeanor seemed to be more anxious than excited.
“Hmm?” grunted the blackgabumon curiously, “Don’t you want to go home, little one? Is something wrong?”
Stepping off of the hiking trail Raimei took a seat in the grass. The lalamon slowly climbed down from her back, but didn’t go more than a few steps away as it looked around carefully. Patiently the blackgabumon observed the other digimon as it grunted and crooned next to her. With the lalamon being feral it was hard to communicate beyond simplistic words and gestures, but Rai could sense that something had the little pink and green mon on edge. Her own eyes flickered to the woods. There were certainly dark patches deeper into the trees that didn’t appear welcoming.
“You don’t know your way from here, do you?” The rhetorical question was left unanswered, but as Raimei stood up the lalamon returned to her side to hold her hand. The blackgabumon smirked and shook her head. “Hah. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to walk through here alone either. Come, let’s see if we can find a place you remember, then.” Stepping back onto the hiking trail the two continued through the woods, with Raimei keeping a vigilant eye open for trouble.
