Mistakes or not, neither Amber nor Coal stayed away from their training for long.
Heck, if anything, that incident with the Grizzlymon only proved how important these sessions were, and once they started up again, Amber picked them right back up - and showed more of a sense of interest and care than she did before. No longer was this obstacle course a glorified playground to try and stumble through as fast as she could. Instead, Amber strove for practice and for advice, working to retain her balance on the tricky terrain while also swiftly moving from platform to platform.
It took a good few weeks, but Holly would see that Amber was much more fit than when she started. She no longer had to take long breaks to catch her breath, no longer complained about the stiffness in her legs. And though she kept a positive attitude up front, Holly would likely know just how serious Amber was about all of this, reading through all of the notes that Holly provided, working to find her own answer to a lot of the challenges put before her.
And so it came to this.
Holly had given her a few lessons before, but Amber really couldn't do much more than get thrown around by Holly's clones. It changed the scope of the training from what it was supposed to be, to simple evasiveness - until today. Holly would see the Renamon not only swiftly move out of the way of one of the MeiCrackmon's strikes, but would even see Amber's ankle connect against the clone's own - causing her to fall flat on her face. Amber wouldn't follow up, the fox looking down with one tense fist. There wasn't an ounce of surprise in her expression - just sheer focus, and a tight, fang-filled grin.
"F... finally..."

Holly was proud of her little sister; what they were doing and how they were handling themselves. Watching them grow and become more focused; sure it had taken an event like the grizzlymon to pull them out of what holly figured wa a stupor.
She watched them quietly; taking notes on the various platforms. Various tests and tricks and tips she could give; the sort of things she could build to give her sister a proper challenge. Tweaks would of course be made and the meicrackmon hummed along as she watched her sister grow.
Shorter breaks, less stiffness, that positive attitude always being there. She’d stare quietly at what was going on. The meicrackmon’s attentiveness had blossomed as well; no longer was jade just a visitor from time to time; they were here almost always. The clones too. Giving her all sorts of venues to help her sister along.
With the combat training… holly herself was afraid to fight against her sister. Knowing that without a doubt that if she were to partake that her sister would struggle more and more. But maybe that was something that needed to happen. Seeing her clone fall on it’s face the meicrackmon clapped her hands. One. Two. Three. All the clones simply vanished in their various places.
”Your first proper ‘victory’ I’d say against one of my clones. Their power places them around champion level. And you’ve learned how to handle their strikes the best you can.”
Holly moved to inspect her sister for a moment, handing them her notepad. There was a long congo line of notes and improvements that holly had seen. Things that she noted, openings that needed to be addressed… all that sort of thing. But there was a glow in the meicrackmon’s eyes that spoke of how proud she was of her little sister.
”I think the clones have taught you everything that they can without getting super repetitive.”
Holly hummed to herself and would tap her sister on the chest. Looking somewhat; if not deadly serious.
”We can move to the next ‘step’ or ‘phase’ as it were. But only if you want to. There is nothing wrong with taking your time and making sure of things.”

Finally.
That word held a lot of weight, for Amber. As much as she was stepping up the training, going toe-to-toe with a champion-strength clone was by no means easy - and Holly wasn't taking it easy on her, either. Taking the notes in hand, Amber flipped through it a bit - seeing a lot of the same comments as before, though noting improvement in several areas. Amber's ear flicked at the last bit: that was all the clones could teach her?
"Hm... if anything," Amber groaned, "I've learned that fighting from behind is difficult. The most I can do against the stronger clones is 'react' or 'anticipate' - it didn't give me a lot of ground to try and make the fight my own. Initiate, or try to control the pace myself. So..."
Amber nodded.
"Let's move onto the next step." To the sort of stuff that Holly didn't want Amber to use on Coal, or anyone in the family. "The only way I'll know if I'm ready is if we jump right into it, right?"

Holly could sense the anticipation from her sister; it wasn’t hard to guess that she was excited. It wasn’t hard for holly to figure that the other just simply wanted to move forward. But to rush was to worry and to rush was to let the other fall in such a way that would ultimately be her undoing. She’d rub at her chin; watching the other read over her notes.
”It was to teach you how to fight against stronger opponants. When you’re fighting against someone stronger and tougher than you are without much to back yourself up with… well. You did what you could do and learned appropriately. But that won’t always be the case.”
Holly clapped her hands; a single clone. One of the dumb attack ones appeared; arms crossed and staring with blank eyes at amber. The reason behind this one is because they weren’t used for information gathering. Holly would get the sense they were poofed but… that was it.
”All right. Next step it is. I’m going to teach you about various data points and various weaknesses of digimon. Things that will disable; slow down opponents and if you need to… kill them”
There was no skirting around that last one. Holly would be gesturing to various parts on her clone during her talk. The disabling would be some of the more ‘prime’ locations that would make it difficult for someone to operate. Slowing down would be hamstrings or the line… and the last? Well a single tap on the chest where the core was.
”By no means are you to ever use any of this on any friend or family member. Especially the last one. In our line of work, or rather the knights line of work. We face a lot of trouble and opponents; some don’t let us get away with just disabling them or slowing them down. Sometimes you have to make that last decision for them and not have much time to think about it.”
Holly’s hand would pulsate with lightning and the attack clone had maybe a moment before holly’s hand punched through it’s chest. Causing it to vanish into trash data. Her expression was incredibly serious; there was no jovial light to it. No friendly big sister attitude. Just the cold hard facts of what sometimes needed to be done.
”We’re going to start with the slowing. Then disabling. Then the last one only if you feel you are ready. I’ll be using my ‘dumb’ clones that way that I don’t feel what you do when they poof and that way they don’t hold it against you when I re-summon them. Lord know’s three and four don’t like this sort of stuff...”

"But if I'm fighting against a stronger opponent whose also aware of all this stuff... hm."
Amber mulled it over. No matter how much she thought it over, the difference in power was always going to be a problem - but it was hardly something that the Renamon-X could help at the moment. Maybe she'd evolve later, maybe she wouldn't. All she could do now was use and master what she had, and hope that would be enough for anything she came across. And what she learned next might help with that.
... Well, potentially. Amber found her ears flicking at Holly's comments, about how these techniques would be better at disabling and slowing down opponents - and, well, ending the fight 'instantly'. She looked over each of the points that Holly went over, nodding again at the warning.
But Amber was already thinking it through. Intent in focus - so much so that she fell backwards when that clone exploded into a cloud of data, 'snapping' her back into reality.
"... S-slowing first, right." Amber stood, her eyes darting from where the clone was, then back to Holly - eyes unconsciously scanning those same areas.
"... Its not enough." Amber's comment came out flatly - a surprising analytic tone to her voice. "None of those points are easily accessible if an opponent's guard is up. A strike to the arms or the hamstrings leaves my own legs exposed, and the more 'critical points' are mostly center body."
To that end, Amber stepped up, and gently placed her hand on Holly's front side, at her stomach. "For example... 'here' is where I could stand to hit about half of those points you just mentioned, right? So, be honest."
"If I was trying to do any of what you just said, with me right here, how easy would it be for you to knock me out?"

”A stronger opponent who’s aware of all that stuff? Rather than fight your job is to work on learning their rotations, dodge things. Exploit their moments of weakness. Your focus in that situation is not to ‘win’ outright but to survive and limit them being able to hurt you.”
Holly stretched a little bit; cracking one of her shoulders and flicked her ears forward. She didn’t like having to teach this sort of thing but the more she thought about it… This was the right way for her to go about teaching her younger sister. One that would want to end fights quickly to save others. She already knew that if she focused on trying to teach her other ways it simply wouldn’t work.
”Slowing is something that anyone can do, but most people focus on slamming out their biggest attacks only to teeter off if that doesn’t work. So someone with actual skill or the like will overwhelm someone who just attacks through sheer numbers.”
Holly tapped her head and stared at her sister; none of those points were easily accessible? She’d wave her finger back and forth before letting her sister continue. She’d hum thoughtfully at that question and well the prompt. There was a moment and amber would maybe have two or three moments to respond; holly’s fist being just a mere inch from her sister’s face.
”Beyond easy, you’re full of so many openings to the point of it being laughable. But that’s not the point. A stronger opponent may have a physical edge but we’re training the most important muscle in your body.”
Holly gingerly would take amber’s hand; scooting it up ever so slightly and tapping it against her upper stomach.
”For someone like me, who knows what you’re trying to do? It’d be pretty hard for you to get any leeway, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t ‘win’. Stronger opponents flaunt their strength more often than not. Even very skilled people do; though ma didn’t really do that too often so I suppose there’s that… Hmm. But for you? You want to work in when they’re making their attacks; when their openings are the largest; suffice to say. Rather than instigate an attack, you want to work it in when they are attacking. So a counter of sorts. If they have to stop, or pull back, or adjust themselves. Then you have an edge for a moment; but you have to be careful about how often you do that.”
Holly adjusted herself for a moment and amber would see her take the light of digivolution; the meicrackmon turning into.. A meicoomon. One that looked somewhat disgruntled about being in that form. Truth be told.. Holly hated this form more than any other.
”But what we’re going to focus on is rookie to rookie combat, work our way up to champion to rookie and so on and so forth. Until I can make you digivolve so you can properly understand the various levels. Coal herself hasn’t achieved digivolutions yet and I wish I could have her spar with you so I could watch and help the both of you. But I don’t want to mess with Iko’s training honestly.”
Holly shifted a bit, staring up at her sister and folding her arms across one another. She seemed bemused and it wouldn’t be long before the meicoomon would have her sister fight against her… for better or for worse.

"So if they're better, I have to find out when they're weakest?" In that sense, the way Amber was trained made more sense. Fighting against a stronger opponent, stalling for time, and finding out when the clone had an opening - Holly had led her along the right track. And, in the next few moments, the taller feline would give quite the answer to Amber's inquiry.
As that fist stopped in front of her face, Amber's eyes widened. She stepped back, only to slip on the snow and land flat on her butt, ear twitching at Holly's point. "Ow..." Despite that groan, Amber was intently listening. This was all about looking for openings.
Looking for a chance.
"Looking for the way to end the fight in an instant." Repeating that, the fox stood up, and dusted the snow off of her legs, blinking as a light enveloped her older sister. She expected a different form - but what she didn't expect to see was Holly's smaller Meicoomon form! Holly wanted to try rookie-to-rookie combat, and to that, Amber gave a nod.
She got into her regular stance... and quickly found herself furrowing her brow. Bending her knees a bit lower, opening her fists to allow her claws to express themselves a bit, before changing her mind and trying something else.
Again. And again. Before an embarrassed flush went across her face.
"... I'm gonna be blunt, sis. You're tiny. I'm half concerned that I'm going to hurt you if I land anything, and half concerned that I'm never going to hit you because you'll be too hard to hit."

”Yeah. Basically you want to end the fight faster than they can engage you properly. If they can’t do the work they can’t get into their groove. If you get into a fight with them, you’ll want to keep them off balance but that’s getting ahead of ourselves just a bit.”
Holly folded her arms and nodded her head as the renamon repeated what the meicrackmon had said. She’d give a small tilt of her head as the other looked uncertain as to how to handle them. The meicoomon now shifted and took a little seat looking up at her sister.
”I’m a lot tougher than I look, come with natural regeneration in this and my champion form. Realistically speaking you’ve never fought anyone that’s smaller than you. Always someone to size or someone bigger than you. So my thought was to at least handle something like this. If you never hit me or if you hurt me I’ll still be fine.”
To make a case of this; holly drew a claw over her arm. Data welling up for a moment before quickly healing. The meicoomon flexed her hand and gave a small smile up to her little sister.
”And even if I wasn’t. The knights have some kind of ability in the group that allows for regeneration. It’s kind of neat since I didn’t know about it beforehand.”
It would explain a few things to her; about why ma was always so tough. But then again from what she recalled it was a bit different and the knights never seemed to be in the same place… which wouldn’t allow for the ability of old to come into play. Which just… meant that K was super tough. Then again so was silence but not to the same degree she felt. At least not yet.
”But if you’re really really really that concerned I can bump myself up to champion and we can go from there. I’ll still be stronger than the clones you were fighting though just as a warning.”

Despite the difference in size, Holly seemed confident that she'd still be a good sparring partner - and though Amber winced at seeing Holly cut herself, she gave a blink of astonishment as it healed right on up. It was that potent, even in rookie level?
"... You're right about one thing... if I don't learn to fight opponents smaller than me, I might have a hard time." The Renamon-X gave a sigh, and nodded. "Alright, then I'm not going to hold back. I'll fight you as a Meicoomon."
The fox would take just a moment to steady herself once more, before letting her stance drop. Right now, Amber knew Holly had one key weakness: her reach! Betting on that, Amber lowered herself onto all fours, and then sprinted forward, right for the Meicoomon. When she was a certain distance away - easily three of Holly's arm lengths, or even two of her tail-lengths - Amber would halt, dig her claws into the snow, and give one long, low, sweeping kick - intent on following through with a full, low roundhouse!

Holly rocked on her feet for a few moments; flicking her ears forward and nodding her head slowly. The renamon saw the wisdom in what she was saying? Good. The meicoomon didn’t look so much bore as she looked pretty excited to see what her sister would do.
”All right good. I wouldn’t have it any other way~”
The meicoomon would watch the other, her own stance was still pretty relaxed. Sure she might have a smaller reach… But the meicoomon was still a fast little monster. Bouncing up and over the sweeping leg. Landing behind it and raising a brow. Yeah well… her sister didn’t seem to think that the smaller mon would have an easy time dealing with the difference in reach.
Normally she’d be right, most mons didn’t have holly’s experience. She’d keep light on her feet and one of her tendrils crackled with lightning. Darting forward to slap one of those tails with lightning. It wouldn’t hurt too badly but… It’d at least give amber something to think about!
”Remember you have extra bits that can still be used against you even if you don’t use them to attack!”
It was better this way she felt; to at least get her sister used to being on the up and up. She also didn't want to do too much or explain too much; rather she wanted her sister top learn how to do all of this herself through slow ground pain and reward!

'Exploit the weakness of your opponent'.
Holly got right down to it. Amber didn't think much about Holly dodging her attack. Sure, the Meicoomon was flighty, but she had to move a lot more than Amber did to keep away from her. What she didn't expect, however, was that current that surged straight into her tail. The attack didn't look like much, but the moment it hit?
Amber felt that current run right up that tail, up her spine, and then down through her grounded arms. It took the fox a moment to shake it off, tensing her hands and legs to regain control over her muscles. Right, she uses electricity. Right up my nerves, through my spine, able to shock my entire body...
Amber corrected herself. Keeping her low stance, the fox made it a point to direct her tails more upwards and behind her, out of reach of her adversary. The fox grit her teeth, and then simply vanished from sight. Holly might have initially thought that Amber was going to use this to try and strafe around - and in fact, Amber relied on that assumption.
As soon as she vanished, Amber tore forth, intent on tackling the Meicoomon right in front of her, with the fox's full body weight. Even visible, Holly might have had trouble dodging such a wide reach!

Holly was sure that if she took this too serious that her sister might end up getting pretty badly hurt. So she was sure to reign back just a bit; seeing her sister’s reaction to that current she’d draw her hand quickly away. Not allowing more than was necessary to let her sister know she had landed a hit. If it wasn’t for that maybe… it’d be bad?
Holly landed to one side rather gracefully; reminiscent of her own mother more than what silence was capable of without some thought. She’d rub at her chin with a small flash in her eyes. Seeing that low stance the cat mulled over what actions the other could take.
Invisibility was one of the few things that holly couldn’t see through at this stage; but she was able to see some of the movement even if it was only momentary. She’d grit her teeth as she felt the other tackle into her.
But that was a mistake; a dark aura flared up around holly and if the renamon-x didn’t move fast enough she’d find a trio of needles pierce her arm. The meicoomon making damn sure that the ability wasn’t going to go center mass. How would she explain that to her parents?
”Invisibility is a good tool, but you don’t know everything about your target! Think things over, think things through. Don’t just rush in unprepared. Take your time; you’re the one in control. Make the fight go your way but don’t let the other get a smack or two on you!”
Sure she had said earlier that she needed to keep the other on their toes but… not keeping your own safety in mind was just as bad!

It worked!
Amber felt it, as she became visible once more when she made contact. She had successfully wrapped her arms around the Meicoomon, and had pinned Holly with the tackle, a slight grin on the younger sister's face - when she felt the second point. A sharp pain shot right through her forearm as three needles pierced right into it, the shock of pain forcing Amber to let go, and take a few steps backwards. She hissed through her teeth, looking at the wound for a moment.
Her ear flicked at Holly's comment. Holly was quick to 'gently scold' her - and with her older sister's words, it finally clicked in Amber's head.
"If you were a hostile Digimon, you could have directed those needles towards my chest or my stomach..." Amber growled, pulling those needles out of her arm. "Even if I can use my invisibility to do damage, it might be meaningless if I can't end the fight quickly." Amber took a breath, tensing the fist of her hurt arm. She took a long moment to center herself, slowly relaxing her hands. She took a wider stance, able to more easily shift her weight, and let her arms gently rest to her side. When Amber opened her eyes again?
Holly would see it - perhaps something similar to what she saw in the mirror before, of her own eyes back then. Thoughtful. Contemplative. Devoid of any unnecessary moment, as Amber started to scan and observe her target.
"Alright..." This time, Amber didn't approach for another attack. She stood back, and took her time, giving a nod to her sister. "I'm ready."

Holly eyed over her sister; taking in the damage that she had done to them so far. Amber was good about dealing with the pain; more than she expected. Both her and coal had a high tolerance it seemed; she had heard about all the training that she had gone through with iko and it was… strange to say the least. The meicoomon rubbed her chin and slowly nodded her head.
”Chest. Stomach. Even your head would have been easy. Think fighting me is difficult? Imagine doing that with needles in your eyes.”
It wasn’t so much a threat as it was simply a fact; holly was good at removing avenues that others had. It was part of that job; the same job that she was teaching her kid sister. Seeing that look in her eyes made holly’s core twist a little bit because she recognized it; but there was a part of her that wanted to keep going. A huge part of it.
The meicoomon had to consider her options, using her two attacks defensively had put her at a disadvantage. But her sister no longer had her invisibility which was a large problem for her right? The meicoomon shifted a bit and well?
Amber would find even without her abilities that holly could make some surprising moves of her own! The meicoomon would take a few small hops through the snow and would leap forward to make a swipe at her sister… only to vanish in thin air!
But whatever holly had planned would be kicked to the curb, literally. Amber would no doubt hear her sister get practically thrown by something out of her sightline. The meicoomon crashing into one of the testing sights with a loud if not surprised ‘mei!’
Amber on the other hand? Well she’d feel a very firm grip on her scruff, the same grip she’d recognize as one that gave her plenty of hugs and lunches. One that was easily lifting her up off the ground and the same grip that let her meet those cold icy eyes of her mother’s shutmon form. Thankfully not the same one that she had used to kill that grizzly bear but… It was still something that amber was probably not wanting to see right now. Holly on the other hand would groan and sit up from the messed up training area, a large welt forming on her side...
”All right. That’s enough.”
"...Ow... Could have been-"
"Not another word. What were you thinking."
Holly shivered and stopped talking; that question was posed to the both of them but the icy eyes of silence held none of the usual warmth as it flicked between the two of them.
"Not a damn moment too soon either, if I had been maybe a second later one of you might have done something incredibly stupid. I'm glad you asked me to sit in on this one but I'll be a sovereign's uncle the both of you are dumbasses."

Amber's eyes remained cold and calm, watching Holly's movement. It looked similar to what the Renamon-X occasionally did with her invisibility: feigning movements left and right, before quickly slipping in for a blind spot attack. And this time, the fox responded calmly.
Approaching... a mistake. She's committed, so anything I do forward is just going to reduce the amount of time it takes to get to me. Holly wants to get in my blind spot. Instead... Amber carefully pivoted on her foot, and kicked backwards from where she was. Instead of focusing on the attack, Amber decided to increase her field of vision, so that she could see wherever Holly had 'vanished' to, and respond accordingly. If the Meicoomon intended to flank her, she'd instead find herself right in the gaze of those cold eyes. Her arms tensed, ready to strike...
... Only to feel her feet suddenly leave the ground.
In the moment, Amber was confused. Holly's body went flying, slamming into one of the training sites nearby - and Amber soon found herself face-to-face with the eyes of an irate Shutmon. The Renamon's arms hung limp, blinking as her ear flicked at that question.
"Just what she was doing before. Her stance was poised to attack - if I could anticipate Holly's movement..." Amber's hand relaxed, a number of sharpened leaves falling from her palm to the snow below. Amber's reply was cold and automatic - and she hadn't even picked up on what Silence was actually asking.
"... Mom?" Amber blinked, and blinked again. After the second one, the 'normal' color in her eyes came back, the yellow fox tilting her head in Silence's direction. "I'm... confused. Isn't that what Holly wanted to teach me?"
"Did... I do something wrong?"
