Petermon elaborated more on Hawkeye's theory of why these Digimon did what they did, explaining that those Digimon without partners had to seek other ways of growing and maturing, loading other Digimon being one of those options. Kaya crossed her arms, not exactly thrilled about what she was hearing. "It sounds wrong to me. Loading a Digimon is the same as killing them for good, isn't it?"
"The spiders most likely aren't too concerned about ethics, Kaya. Some Digimon aren't, just like some humans aren't."
Kaya closed her eyes in understanding, though she still didn't like the answer she received. After assuring the group that he was fine now that he had his coffee, he offered to lead the group into the forest. Now was not the time to act all mopey! Now all perked up, Kaya stood up from her seat and gave a big thumbs up. "Just lead the way and we'll do the rest!" This girl was surely confident, all right... Accompanied by Petermon, Logamon and Guardromon, the group would travel through the forest, with Hawkeye walking alongside Kaya in his Hawkmon form still. The rangers explained that they'd lead them to a certain point before they had to retreat, since they weren't as good at fighting as the others. Kaya smiled to the rangers. "Don't worry about it, your safety is definitely important. As well as the safety of those that the spiders captured." She raised her clenched fist in a heroic fashion. "We'll do our best to save everyone!"
Just don't be too disappointed if that proves to be impossible... Hawkeye thought as he gave a concerned look up towards his partner. He loved her, but Kaya had a problem of being overconfident before suddenly breaking down into a fit of tears when things looked bad... though he wasn't gonna be saying that out loud, of course.
After a few more minutes of walking, Guardromon piped up, marking the time that the rangers had to leave. They gave a couple more tips and wished the group luck before heading off in the opposite direction. Petermon, however, stopped to ask the others to be careful, saying that the captured Digimons' fates weren't pretty ones, before he continued walking to meet up with the other rangers. Kaya and Hawkeye sweatdropped.
"Well, that... wasn't a confidence booster, but we got this, right?" Kaya asked, looking back towards her group. Levi wasn't exactly helping things either, since he seemed overly concerned about being careful in a situation like this. You couldn't blame the Flamedramon, but his paranoid planning was beginning to make Kaya and Hawkeye feel uncomfortable. "Relax, Levi. Nothing bad is gonna happen to us, and I seriously doubt these spiders are body snatchers. You've faced worst before, haven't you? Because Hawkeye and I have. Protip: be careful next time you offer honey treats to a Fanbeemon hive."
Kenny would then speak up, asking if anyone wanted to volunteer to watch for threats or watch for lost Digimon from above. "The sky is our specialty. Kaya and I will volunteer. Do you agree, Kaya?"
"Well of course," Kaya said, pulling out and extending her Digivice. "Digimental Up!"
"Hawkmon, Armor Evolution!" The mask of Halsemon would then appear on Hawkeye's face, before the rest of his body began to glow and morph more and more into the shape of a griffon-like bird creature. "Halsemon, the Wings of Love!"
Once Halsemon appeared, Kaya would casually climb onto her partner's back before the two would soar off into the skies, while still being relatively close to the rest of the group. The two would be on the lookout for any threats or lost Digimon, and would report to the others if they saw anything of interest. Hawkeye armor digivolved to Halsemon!

As the three rangers disappeared down the path, heading back to the outpost, there would be planning amongst the assembled group; them deciding amongst themselves how they would approach the spiders' den. The plan would look to be Alan, Levi, Kenny, and Skadi trekking on foot - whilst Kaya and Hawkeye were their eyes in the sky, the lattermost digimon digivolving to Halsemon to accomplish such, and taking flight.
Breaking through the canopy of the forest, and being greeted by the unobscured sun shining above, would be easy - the occasional twig and leaf clinging to Hawkeye's feathers for the briefest moment, before twirling down to the ground as they dislodged. Above the trees, unsheltered from the chilly breeze that blew around them, it was easy to tell that winter was chasing fall's tail; perhaps a couple weeks or a month from now, the first snows would begin falling?
It was hard to say; although the duo's attentions would likely be more on their surroundings, particularly in regards to finding other digimon, as well as the spiders' lair. With the leaves falling, there were gaps aplenty in the canopy to peer down at - although initially, Kaya's and Hawkeye's own group would be the only people they'd be able to spy from up above. The skies above were just as barren of any other life just as the ground below; the only sounds to be heard being the breeze blowing about them...
... And a distant, almost-raspy, screech; coming from the direction that Petermon had indicated before he left.
From this distance, all Kaya and Hawkeye would be able to make out was the shape of a large draconic digimon, rising from the forest. Its bodyshape was short and stout, though thickbuilt and long - with massive, ragged-looking wings. As it took wing, it seemed to (thankfully) not notice Kaya or Hawkeye; simply moving in the opposite direction from the assembled group, gliding just above the canopy of the forest...
... like a bird of prey, on the hunt.
... Were the group to begin heading in the supposed direction of the lair though, it would be a trek - but a thankfully (and perhaps strangely?) uneventful one. As barren, as quiet, as eerie as always; although occasionally, the foursome on the ground might glimpse small black shapes skittering and darting away to hide as they walked along. What was that...?
And for that matter, what was that, that Kaya and Hawkeye could see from their birds-eye view of the forest?
It was a strange sight, for sure; as if the massive and tall trees of the forest had bowed into each other and weaved their branches together, to form a structure of sorts. A long entry tunnel, with a large 'central' dome of sorts; the ceiling of the dome having a skylight of sorts, almost as through it were for entry from above. That is, if it weren't for the layers of spidersilk stretched out in webs over it; a subtle touch, yet one that Hawkeye would likely be able to spot. Occasionally, black specks of Dokugumon or Kodokugumon could be seen amongst the webs - continuing to weave them as they pleased....
... An approach from above was likely going to be too risky for a single digimon and their tamer to make; who knew how sticky or strong those webs were, especially in that quantity, after all?
But thankfully, Kenny, Skadi, Levi, and Alan would soon come across the entry tunnel formed from the tangled trees; this one thankfully appearing to be unobstructed, and easily large enough for them to comfortably enter side-by-side if they so wished. The tunnel, however, appeared rather dark; and occasionally, one could hear strange noises coming from deeper within. Hisses, skittering, twigs and leaves being crunched - and on top of that, what almost sounded like pained groans...
... Just what was going on, in this hellish lair? And how was the team going to handle this?

Well, when it came to his leadership skills, Kenny was certainly improving on that front, with Hawkeye quickly assuming his Halsemon form with no complaint on either his or Kaya's end and setting off to keep watch for the rest of the group, yet as he listened to the Flamedramon's words, Levi's odd 'suggestion' for Kenny pretty much caught him off guard, leaving a puzzled look upon his face... and Skadi to cover up for him, as she turned her head towards her ally.
"Well, it'd sound like a good idea in theory, Levi," she chuckled awkwardly, "but there's a good reason my partner here needs to sit like that, yaknow, just in case something comes right the heck out of nowhere and tries to eat us alive and he needs to hold on for dear life-"
"Skadi!" Kenny quickly snapped, "Ixnay on the possible mental scarring!"
"Oh, sorry Kenny." Shaking herself off, she turned back to Levi, "As I was saying-"
She never got to finish that sentence; now Levi was practically going on about something like body snatchers and corpse crawlers, and graphs, and so on. Thankfully, with Kaya reassuring him on that front, Kenny would quickly pipe in to the Flamedramon himself, quietly giving a sigh and rubbing his arm with his free hand
"Levi, I understand you're feeling a little... concerned and all, but we know we've all faced worse. We managed to survive a crazy Demon Lord dream world that, I swear to God, kept changed the rules whenever they felt like it. Compared to that, I'm pretty sure the Dokugumon and Archnemon isn't capable of doing crazy shit like you just described. Just stay close to us, and we'll be fine, OK?"
Of course of all the times he just had to mention that a loud screech had to cut through the forest, making both him and Skadi instinctively flinch. Thankfully, nothing had come from that, leaving the two to just readjust themselves and pause for a brief moment.
"Huh. Guess I spoke too soon?" He had a hunch.
Regardless, they would keep moving along the path as intended, keeping one eye out for whatever dangers lurked inside. Yet, all they could see was the small black blobs quickly moving along out of sight, rather than engaging them directly. But that was just enough to leave an odd feeling in Kenny's stomach, "Uh, guys, maybe it's just me, but I have a bad feeling these, quote unquote, 'blobs' might actually be potentially expendable spies for Archnemon." He whispered.
"Spies?" Skadi questioned with the tilt of her head, "Care to elaborate?"
"Yeah, y'know, spiders in our world tend to lay out like a zillion eggs all at once. I don't know how, but I have a good feeling she's giving birth to more babies by the minute for various purposes. It probably won't matter to her if the weaker ones die, she could just make more in the process and call it a day." That was enough to make him shudder, "I don't even want to think about how that works."
"Don't blame ya," His partner interjected, "I'm feeling woozy just thinking about it."
Soon enough, they'd end up in front of the yawning mouth of the tunnel in front, and that's when the two would stop in their tracks. Already that woozy feeling reared it's ugly head as sounds of groans and hisses emerged from within the tunnels above, yet that didn't stop Kenny from writing up a quick message towards Kaya on his D-Nexus and sending it to her via Tamernet:
DrMothman: we're at the tunnel now the victims might be in there
Once that was out of the way, Kenny would quickly rummage through his Infini-store, "Hold on guys. We need to see what's up ahead first before we get moving. Give me a second." True to his word, he'd pull out an old, but still working flashlight from it, the same his dad used back in his glory days. One simple twist on the business end of the flashlight and it would blink to life. He'd point it at the ground first, before slowly moving it up onto the cave, potentially reducing the risk of startling the inhabitants.
Just what was inside?

Levi's determined expression seemed to droop. The reassurances of his comrades made him realize how tense he was.
"Thanks... it feels dangerous to assume things are gonna be alright, with all these people that have already been captured, but... I-I'm as determined to survive as any of those spiders, without the wanton murder!" The Flamedramon clenched his claws, the six blades clinking together with a spark.
As they walked, Alan mused on something Kenny had mentioned.
"I guess we did survive that dream, 'cause we're here now, right? But we woke up out of nowhere and the nightmare plague was gone, right? So what the hell happened? Did we save the day in the dream and then relinquish the memories of our victory to bargain for a way out? I hate that kinda shit, man. Wait." The young man glanced upwards, reminding himself that Kaya's delicate ears were indeed far above them at the moment. "Okay, good."
"Would you rather we stayed asleep and turned into all-powerful baby squids, dear partner?" joshed Levi.
"Keh! Not in the dream, no!"
Upon reaching the entrance to the enemy stronghold, (or so they had to assume for now,) Levi would light a flame in his hand once more, and Alan's hard light baton would extend from his D-3 digivice, both light sources which were able to serve as weapons in a pinch. "Two hundred bits says five layers of webs close the path behind us like "ssssschlurp" when we enter. Not that it'll matter."

Once they were up in the air, Kaya instinctively held onto her hat as she held onto Hawkeye's back with her other hand as they passed by the trees, the branches and the leaves, and later when she felt the breeze blow by her. From where they were, they could see more of the forest than Kenny, Alan and their partners. The sky was covered with light grey clouds, setting the tone for the rest of the forest. Winter was indeed on its way here, whether Kaya or Hawkeye liked it or not.
For a while, the only life that either the human or Digimon could see were the other group members below them, the only sounds they could hear being the wind itself. While they were alone, Kaya decided to see what Hawkeye's stance on the current events were. "So Hawks, what do you think?"
"Did... did you just call me 'Hawks'?"
"Nevermind that, what's your take on everything happening?"
"Judging by D'arcmon's state of mind when we arrived, we're in over our heads with this. I know her look, that is the look of someone who had just lost Digimon she cared about in a very violent way. If they couldn't stop whatever this thing is, what makes you think we can?"
"We're not alone though, we have Kenny and Alan down there with their partners ready to help us. Those guys look strong, they've clearly been at this longer than we have."
"I have doubts about Levi myself, considering his paranoid state before we took off."
"You have doubts about everyone. Besides Levi is right to be a bit scared, this whole thing is pretty scary. If it's me you're worried about, you don't have to worry. I know how to stay safe, and I can promise you nothing bad will happen to-"
And that was when the loud screech was heard. Hawkeye stopped mid-air as he and Kaya witnessed a dragon-like Digimon ascend from the forest, its wings beyond massive. It was lucky that it started moving in the opposite direction, not even noticing Kaya and Hawkeye. Kaya gulped, tightening her grip onto Hawkeye. Even the Halsemon was a bit freaked out over seeing such a sight. Feeling the need to at least warn the others, Kaya pulled out her D-Terminal and sent a message to Kenny:
<KayaKyukon: Don't panic, but that loud screech came from a giant dragon we saw rising from the forest. It's gone now, but it might come back.>
Hawkeye proceeded to cautiously fly towards the direction of the supposed lair, in case more dragons decide to rise up from the trees. They weren't gonna be as lucky as before if that happened, that's for sure. Eventually, a very strange sight came into view. It was as if the trees of the forest had bent over to form a weird dorm of sorts, with a long entry tunnel on the ground level. There were ways to seemingly enter from above as well. "Well, should we enter?"
"Not from here. The skylight is covered with a layer of spider webs. We enter through there, we're just dinner for whatever lives inside. We need to join the others, they're most likely at the tunnel entrance by now."
"Right," Kaya responded. Before Hawkeye flew down though, the Tamer pulled her D-Terminal back out and took a picture of the structure from their point of view, it was something the others might want to see. The Halsemon would glide down to the ground level, landing right beside the group before they entered the tunnel. The others had the right idea, using things like hardlight batons and flashlights to see their way inside the structure, so Kaya decided to activate her own Digivice's hardlight baton as well, her D-Terminal in her other hand. "You guys may need to see this," Kaya told the group, showing the D-Terminal screen to the group with the dome structure's picture on it.
"This section of the forest has been turned into one giant spider den," Hawkeye said, still in his Halsemon form.

As the group idled outside of the strange tree-formed tunnel so that they could regroup and decide their next step, the sounds that went on within would only continue; the skittering, the cracking, the hissing, the groaning... Distant and subtle sounds that would not imply immediate danger; but nonetheless were likely disturbing, especially for those worried about the wellbeings of the victims that were surely trapped within. Once everyone was present though, a few individuals would have the idea to light up the darkened tunnel; a wonderful idea, at least on paper. But it certainly raised a question, to say the least, as the path ahead was illuminated; who would be more startled? The six who were peering into the now-lit tunnel? ... ... Or the owners of the hundreds of tiny, gleaming, red eyes that would peer back out? It quickly became apparent that these eyes belonged to an impressively large number of Kodokugumon, who were clinging onto the walls, ceiling, and floor of the tunnel; Kodukugumon who would eye the collective group quite hungrily. Almost as soon as the lights illuminated the arachnid digimon, a chorus of chatters and hisses would rasp out past bared fangs - visibly agitated over a group of intruders in their midst. As soon as the surprise passed though, the Kodokugumon swarms would already be on the move; proceeding to spill out all at once, skittering over every surface that they could find as they moved to surround the group. And once they were in place, they wasted no time in sending out volleys of silk that would rain down upon the group; tangling the limbs of anyone too slow to move out of the way! It was quickly apparent that this swarm, though it may be of technically Rookie-stage digimon, was large enough to pose a decent threat if taken lightly.

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Feb 7, 2021 6:10:18 GMT
Despite their attempts to reassure Levi with their little nod towards their past journey into Belphmon's land of nod, Alan had brought up one undeniable fact; their journey had cut off without much fanfare. Neither could easily sidestep around that fact so easily, and Kenny just gave a forlorn sigh, "You're right. Last I remember, there were these big laser beams in the sky. Maybe they managed to hit Belphmon in just that sweet spot or something before we could even do anything. But honestly, it sucks that we couldn't really do much back there. It just felt like our efforts were all for... naught, y'know?"Thankfully, a simple buzz coming from the D-Nexus was enough to get him out of his brief funk. One brief glance later, and he'd find Kaya confirm that source came from a 'dragon', as they put it. Nothing panic-y, or to worry about, at least. And speak of the devil, the flapping of Hawkeye's wings ever growing louder would be enough to warn them to stand back and give them some room to land. Once they did however, Kaya would quickly draw attention to her photo of the dome in question, as both Kenny and Skadi turned their heads towards it. And despite Hawkeye's observation, many more questions about the dome threatened to arise about it. Skadi was first to speak up as she eyed the photo, "Wait, how were they able to do that in the first place?"
"Beats me," Kenny shrugged, "It might be mere black magic as far as we know."Regardless, the second they turned away from the photo and towards the den, their stomach dropped. Their light had drawn the attention the Kodokugumon swarm surrounding the entrance - and now they were surrounded by those creatures. Just as the swarm started to fire out their volley of webs, Skadi's whole body was already glowing a bright white as she reared herself up, forcing Kenny to slide down to the floor as her taller, muscular Markhormon form took her place, before stretching out her arms as she gestured the others back. "Stand back guys." That was her only warning before she stomped on the ground, and at that very moment, a massive circular stone wall would surround the group as it curved into it's own massive dome, leaving a small hole at the top, just large enough for Hawkeye and Levi to move out if they so pleased, but not visible enough for the Kodokugumon to easily detect to the naked eye. The webs would splatter harmlessly onto the spikey wall without much trouble. But a much bigger risk ran afoul to the swarm. The walls were lined with a seemingly endless around of spikes, and any Kodokugumon who attempted to land on one ran the risk of impaling themselves instantly. Nothing more, nothing less. The webs didn't even dent the wall at all, so this left plenty of room for both Levi and Hawkeye to use the wall to their advantage while they still could. But would they be able to pull something off with this?
In a bid to quickly respond to the Kodokugumon swarm, Skadi quickly evolves to Markhormon and defends the group from the group Silk Volley attack with Stonewall Barricade, ensuring the webs only end up sticking to the wall and posing a threat to any of the swarm willing to jump onto the wall. Stonewall Barricade (RAM Upgrade): Skadi stomps the ground, sending up a surrounding circular wall full of giant spires with spikes lined on the front to protect her and up to 2 allies near her (within a 50 meter radius) for a post. This can withstand up to 3 Ultimate attacks (that's around 6 Champion level attacks) before breaking, while Rookie and below do no damage and 1 Mega attack is enough break the wall, but have their damage slashed in half. Anyone making physical contact with the wall suffers 20% damage of what their attack would’ve inflicted. (3 post cooldown) Passives:Mountaineer (Passive): Markhormon possesses a tough and well-rugged body that has survived even the harshest of winters. This in turn reduces damage from all Ice attacks by 50% and physical attacks by 30%. However, she takes 50% more damage from fire attacks.
Toxic Immunity (Passive): Markhormon’s immune system naturally prevents Skadi from suffering poison/corrosion from any attacks/passives, or suffering any ill effects from them (damage, paralysis etc). Likewise, her foamy saliva, if swallowed, or in some cases, rubbed into an affected area of a poison victim, will automatically heal the Digimon of any poison/corrosion effects they may suffer… if they’re willing to use it at all, obviously. If used on an ally, then they have up to 2 poison/corrosion effects lifted from them, and Skadi goes through a 3 turn cooldown period, where she will be no longer immune to effects from poison/corrosion until it finishes. If Skadi digivolves to this form while poisoned/corroding, then she will automatically be cured in the same post. Active Buffs/Debuffs:N/A Cooldowns: Stonewall Barricade: 0/3 Cards Used (0/7):N/A

It can't be said that when the two boys cautiously shined their lights into the entrance of the den, they did not at least partially expect to be greeted with spiders completely covering the walls. In fact, it could be said that Alan was expecting that very thing to happen! The worst case scenarios were always running through his mind, whether he wanted it or not. Nevertheless, he stifled a gasp, trying to disguise it as a long sigh. At least their big yellow stripes and crazy hairdos weren't exactly subtle. Better than if they saw regular spiders from the human world on that wall! Now those, those are totally scary.
"Good morning, children," he greeted the spiders softly, "Did you sleep wellEN GUARDE THEN"
The partners leaped back a short distance to get into battle position, but would be thankful to find that one of their allies had them covered with buying a bit more time to prepare themselves.
"H-How long does this thing last?" As comforting as the protective dome was, it unsettled Alan to have the hostiles out of his own line of sight.
"Long enough, I assume," responded Levi. The drake moved in to protect his tamer with his body if need be, and focused on the battle ahead, and how he could start off strong. Soon, the flames cracking through his scales would glow brighter, and burn blue with heat. A soothing aura for those he wished to protect, and... normal blue fire to those he didn't.
Flamedramon uses the safety of Stonewall Barricade to strengthen himself with Blue Flare.
Blue Flare - Intensifies Flamedramon’s flames, turning them blue temporarily. The first fire attack within the next two posts is approximately 1.5 times as strong. 1-post cooldown. Duration remaining: 2 Cooldown remaining: 1

Skadi was the most surprised out of anyone when Kaya and Hawkeye came back down with the overhead photo of the very den they were walking into. Kenny suggested that it must've been black magic that allowed them to bend the trees like that in the first place. "How could it be black magic? Spider Digimon do not usually have the ability to do something like this, do they?"
"Maybe they do and we just never knew. Or there's something we're missing... something about this whole situation doesn't feel right to me, you know?"
The group's conversation was cut short when the light flashed down inside the tunnel, revealing hundreds of Kodukugumon on the walls, ceiling and floor, all staring right at the group with their creepy red eyes and hissing at them. Kaya covered her mouth with both hands to stop herself from screaming as the freaky looking spiders came after them, with Hawkeye now adjusting his stance to prepare for battle.
However, Skadi would thankfully give the others more time to prepare by evolving to her Ultimate form and creating a stone wall around the group, stopping the webs and damaging any spiders that tried to jump onto the wall. This gave the group more time to prepare for the inevitable moment when the wall would disappear. Despite the lack of light, Hawkeye was able to notice the opening at the top of the wall. "Skadi, Levi, guard Kaya with your lives," was all Hawkeye said before he flew out of the hole.
Once he was out, Hawkeye was able to see all the Kodukugumon swarms surrounding the circular wall. "Maybe this will do it... TEMPEST WING!" Hawkeye would be flung forward down the tunnel while spinning his body around, creating high winds that would hopefully fling a good majority of the Kodukugumon around and give the others a fighting chance once the wall disappeared... Hawkeye uses "Tempest Wing", using the winds to hopefully make the surrounding Kodukugumon fly off the walls and generally give the others a fighting chance.

It seemed that it would be quite the flurry of movement amongst the assembled group, as they would react to the Kodokugumon swarming out of the tree-formed tunnel. Skadi would be the first of the three to act - bringing up a protective stone wall around the group, to block the incoming spray of spidersilk. As expected, the most that the spidersilk would be able to do was tangle itself amongst the spikes of the wall - and faintly, beyond the shield, one could likely hear the agitated chitters and hisses of the Kodokugumon swarm. As Levi began to turn up the heat in preparation for landing a big hit on the spiders later though, Hawkeye would instead go straight for the kill - exiting the stone shield from the top so that he could strike at the swarm with Tempest Wing! Wind swirling about the Halsemon's body would send the Kodokugumon swarm every which way; although the Kodokugumon who weren't caught up in the gale were quick to scatter in every which way, so as to avoid Hawkeye's attack and minimize casualties! Still, for what Kodokugumon were caught up in the wind, it didn't hurt the overall swarm as much as it would've hurt a larger single digimon.... Is there a better way to deal with groups of enemies all at once, than a single-target attack...? With Hawkeye being the only digimon out in the open though, it was clear that these Kodokugumon would be quick to prey on the lone Halsemon. Hungry beady eyes locked on the gryphon digimon, a portion of the swarm would begin trying to leap and climb all over Hawkeye, and attempt biting into him repeatedly! Meanwhile, another portion of the swarm would begin to spit up globules of acidic poison at him! The individual droplets of acid and little bites wouldn't hurt so much... But it would hurt a lot more, when there was so many of these spiders spitting and biting at him all at once!

Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Feb 22, 2021 6:15:01 GMT
Even as the spikey walls managed to stop the web barrages from hitting any of the three, Levi and Hawkeye would both opt to use them to their advantage; the former literally igniting himself, ready to strike as soon as the wall fell, and the latter taking advantage of the opening to strike a good part of the swarm down. Yet it was hard to tell what, exactly, was going on from beyond the walls, apart from the Halsemon's battlecry and the KoDokugumon swarm's angry chatter. But as the wall started to retract once more, retreating it's way back to be swallowed up by the earth once more, the first thing Kenny and Skadi would spot would be Hawkeye - inadvertently having drawn attention to himself to a good 2/3rds of the swarm, and getting ready to strike him down, as they prepared to leap all over him "Shit." The young man quietly muttered to himself as Skadi growled, tightly gripping her great sword as a cold aura started to cover the business end of the bony blade. Pulling out his D-Nexus and grabbing a card, he just issued a simple command to his partner, "Skadi, try to get Hawkeye back over to Levi while you buy him time and deal with his end of the swarm, can you do that?"A simple nod and grin on the Markhormon's face was all the encouragement Kenny needed. With one swipe of the card, a whirlwind of leaves would surround Skadi's form as she disappeared from sight, only to show up not even a moment later - standing in front of, and easily towering over, Hawkeye himself, and in front of the firing range of the attacking KoDokugumon. As parts of the swarm fell upon Skadi, biting at her hardened flesh, and spitting upon her body, she turned her head over to Hawkeye, "Go! Get back to Levi! I'll distract them for as long as I can!" Having barked out her order to her teammate, she set her eyes back onto the swarm surrounding her; the bites would prove to be less effective than expected, and the KoDokugumon would have a hard time trying to easily bite through her flesh. Likewise, the poison would just land upon Skadi's body harmlessly; natural antivenom ensured that the acid rain would leave no effect onto the Markhormon herself. Glaring at the KoDokugumon, the icy aura upon her sword only intensified as she readied herself to swing, "Alright, you tiny terrors! Why don't you have a taste of this?" With a single swing of her sword, sweeping over her own body and the swarm, a powerful icy blast would fire out in front of her, threatening not only to launch the KoDokugumon off her body, but also potentially striking the rest of the swarm in the process as well. If the mere swing of the powered-up sword didn't get them, then a sharp blade made of frosty winds emerging from the sword would. They needed to take out the swarm, and fast.
In lieu of the wall coming down and spotting Hawkeye out in the open, Kenny and Skadi agree for the latter to stand in front of Hawkeye and take the attacks in his steed, thanks to the former swiping the card, DA-03: Renamon's Kohenkyo, to get there in the nick of time. Once there, she takes the brunt of both Swarming Bites and Poison Rain while giving Hawkeye a chance to escape back to Levi, before attacking the KoDokugumon Swarm A, B, and C with Blizzard Calling, potentially using the icy wind blade emerging to strike them down. Her two passives, Mountaineer and Toxic Immunity, both reduce the damage of Swarming Bites by 30% due to being a physical attack, and ignore the effects of Poison Rain entirely. Blizzard Calling: Skadi’s sword is surrounded by a faint icy aura, before she swings it at a wide angle, summoning a powerful blast of icy wind for up to 50 meters, that cuts into and blasts back up to three opponents at once. Flying Digimon also take 20% more damage when hit, and can be forced onto the ground. While the wind blade is powerful enough on it’s own, due to the fact she’s swinging a heavy object, the sword still hurt if you make contact with it directly, great for driving back opponents that are too close to her. (3 post cooldown) Card Used: DA-03 Card Name: Renamon Type: Digimon Rank: Bronze Duration: 1 Post Kohenkyo: A small wind rotates around the target Digimon and they quickly transport from one place to another within five metres. Passives:Mountaineer (Passive): Markhormon possesses a tough and well-rugged body that has survived even the harshest of winters.
Post by Alan Pantell on Mar 8, 2021 19:11:15 GMT
Alan wasn't sure where the best place to keep his attention was. He was the type to prefer keeping every nearby spider in field of view, but there were too many of them! How cold a single human possibly look at all these spiders at the same time! Certainly he was in no position to be fumbling through his cards, either, not when there were so many spiders to look at. Check the ground, check the sky, check his arms, check his legs, rinse, repeat, but mostly focus on the ones on the ground. The others seemed to have the airborne ones covered (even if they were doing this by being covered in the airborne ones.)
Then, he felt a tap on his shoulder, which his hand moved to swat immediately on the off chance a spider had reached the shoulder that was facing Levi. It was not a spider, though. It was Levi, who was, in fact, a dragon.
"Hey, get down," said Levi, "I'm going to try to get as many of them as possible."
Alan obeyed, ducking his head down to offer his partner room to aim. While his flames couldn't damage allies, they also couldn't pass through them. The Flamedramon breathed in, a blue light obscuring the back of his mouth. Then, he took a step forward, and exhaled, sweeping his extra-hot blue flames over all the spiders he could see in front of him like the world's worst fire extinguisher. He turned himself around and swept those flames over the grounded spiders to his sides and behind him, and even made sure to give Skadi a once over if he could reach her. Mixed in with the flames was corrosive vapor, likely made from the same substance as the acidic spit that most digimon have in their baby forms. Which was kinda gross, honestly, but also kinda cool. Since the KoDokugumon could also spit acid, it was likely that they had some form of resistance to it, but the fires would work their magic regardless!
Flamedramon uses a corrosive flamethrower attack named after an obscure reference to Disney World to attack what he can of Swarms A, B, and C. This attack is powered up 1.5 times by Blue Flare.
Did You Forget To Turn Off Those Robots? - Flamedramon breathes a corrosive flame that eats away at opponents, regardless of inherent resistance to fire. 2-post cooldown. Cooldown Remaining: 2
Blue Flare - Intensifies Flamedramon’s flames, turning them blue temporarily. The first fire attack within the next two posts is approximately 1.5 times as strong. 1-post cooldown. Cooldown Remaining: 0 Ready to use!

Unfortunately for Hawkeye, while the Kodokugumon were indeed scattered, those who were caught up in his winds weren't particularly damaged all too much. And since he was the only Digimon out at the time, all those little spiders suddenly had a brand new target: himself. He knew of the risk going into this and hoped that his move would pay off in the end, but it seemed that Hawkeye miscalculated.
And now he was going to pay the price.
The wall surrounding the others began to retract, giving them a good view of Hawkeye about to be covered in dozens of tiny spiders that would surely hurt like hell. A grave look of concern washed over Kaya's face, she knew he probably wouldn't be able to survive for too long in this position. "Hawkeye..." she muttered, her eyes briefly glowing orange.
Hawkeye closed his eyes tight and braced for impact. Thankfully Kenny and Skadi were able to act quickly, and so the latter appeared right in front of Hawkeye, towering above the griffon Digimon and taking the attacks herself. She told him to get over to Levi, to which Hawkeye nodded and didn't hesitate to fly back to the Flamedramon, and to Kaya.
And of course, Kaya was not happy. "I can't BELIEVE you right now, you almost gave me a heart attack, Hawkeye-"
"You can chastise me later," Hawkeye growled as he pulled Kaya back to let Levi do his fire-breathing thing to get at least most of the Kodokugumon sorted with. While Skadi and Levi each did their own thing to help get rid of the swarm, Hawkeye felt as if he couldn't just stand there; he had to help too, no matter how inconsequential his involvement would be.
"We need to change forms," Kaya said, raising her Digivice. "You're at a disadvantage right now, we need moves like Freeze Arrow. Besides, the sight of a Digivolution may scare them away, if we're lucky."
"Hm... you have a point, Kaya," Hawkeye said as the Digimental went back into Kaya's digivice, reverting him back to his Hawkmon form. "On your command, Kaya!"
"Right!" An excess amount of glowing orange energy would then be emitted from Kaya before all that energy was focused into her hand, ready for the Digivolution process. "DNA... Full Charge!"
"Hawkmon, Super Evolution!" The Hawkmon would then morph into a very tall humanoid bird-man with red feathers and yellow claws, complete with a red mask and a golden bow. "Garudamon!" Hawkeye was saved from the Kodokugumon attack by Skadi!
Hawkeye digivolves to Garudamon!

It was safe to say, that spiders aplenty would be going flying today. Though the Kodokugumon swarm would initially find themselves bewildered to be landing on a furry Markhormon, as opposed to a feathery Halsemon, they nonetheless wasted no time in trying to gnaw through Skadi's thick and protective fur, to limited avail. Even as the Poison Rain pelted the tall and mighty warrioress, there would only be the barest of sizzle as the acidic rain burnt away at any dirt or debris on the surface of Skadi's fur - but it would otherwise be unable to damage her any further, soaking harmlessly into her fur and dripping down to burn away at the grass below. (Regardless of Skadi's immunity though, it was likely she would need a bath after this - her fur speckled with almost sickly-looking purple stains, from the droplets of acidic poison.) Not about to let the Kodokugumon go unpunished though, Skadi's Blizzard Calling would be plenty enough to send the spider digimon scattering and flying every which way - dealing extensive damages to the swarms; this including a few of the spider digimon perishing on impact, and breaking down into data, as they were slammed by the Markhormon's wide cleave! Scattered about the area and bewildered, the spider swarm would be forced to go on the defensive to avoid being scorched, as the dim surroundings of the forest were lit up azure by Levi's flames. The plants would smoulder with blue embers and give off smoke - but thankfully did not catch aflame; though the Kodokugumon would not be as lucky. Though being an Armor Champion meant that Levi wouldn't make as heavy of a dent in the swarm's numbers as Skadi did, the spiders nonetheless would attempt to Scatter to avoid being burnt, as those who did not move fast enough would nonetheless end up being utterly scorched. However, not all of the Kodokugumon would Scatter. Instead, some would turn their attentions to Levi as the last of the flames licked over the surrounding area - and letting out sharp little hisses, the surviving members of this particular portion of the swarm would attempt to retaliate with more globs of acidic poison in his direction! All in all though, it was safe to say that these wider-reaching attacks were doing quite the number on the swarms, compared to more focused and singular attacks. Did the group find the weakness, to this swarm's numbers? And how would the group capitalize on this, to secure victory?
- Swarms B and C are struck by the wind from Blizzard Calling, and are sent flying; Swarm A, in particular, also ends up struck by Skadi's sword and takes extra casualties! - Swarms A and B use Scatter! to attempt to avoid Levi's Did You Forget To Turn Off Those Robots? - though nonetheless take a few casualties - and Swarm C in particular is unable to avoid the flames! - Swarm C, in retaliation, uses Poison Rain on Levi! - The Swarms' weakness has been discovered - check the Passives for more details. Post by Kenny O'Hara and Skadi on Mar 14, 2021 2:28:54 GMT
Right now, things were looking up for our rag-tag team; their crazy gambit had given them the upper hand, leaving Hawkeye unscathed as he complied with the Markhormon's orders, falling back to the humans' (and Levi's) side, and Levi to leave a decent dent in the numbers as he engulfed the swarm in flames. And Skadi had left a massive dent with their own little gambit as well. His brief elation would quickly be interrupted as he turned his head to the loud hissing sounds emerging from one side of the swarm, their eyes locked onto Levi's form, ready to fire out something at the hapless Digimon had he not acted in time. Oh no. "Ah shit, Levi, look out!" He cried out, rushing in front of the Flamedramon as he held out his D-Nexus in front of himself. Right on cue, as the swarm started to spit out their poisonous slime once more, a blinding shield of light would emerge in front of him, much of the acid splattering onto the shield easily and without much issue. But the more they spat, the more the shield started to burn. Soon, small holes would start to emerge in the shield, and, if nothing was done to potentially patch the holes, they'd potentially burn the shield up and hit Levi anyways. Just as the rain of acid stopped, a massive earthquake would rock the area around them. Instinctively, he grabbed onto Levi's torso, grasping as hard as it could until the earthquake ended for him. It was only natural for him at this point, after all. He was practically used to Skadi doing this.
The Markhormon could only give a quiet grunt as she glanced at the stains upon her body before taking a moment to wring as much as she could; compared to the massive dent in numbers she left upon the KoDokugumon swarm (especially on the ones who were unlucky enough to find themselves on her body, before finding themselves on the business end of her blade), the bites, while numerous in nature, she could shrug off as more of a mild annoyance than anything, and the most 'damage' that the poison would cause would be those sickly looking stains covering her body. No matter. As she gradually wringed out the poison slime, she glanced over to both Levi and Hawkeye, the latter now having evolved to his massive Garudamon form, the former finishing up frying his leg of the swarm, leaving a smaller dent upon the massive swarm. And something started to click inside of her. A singular, one-target attack would give ample time for the KoDokugumon to escape mostly unscathed, while a wide ranged attack would potentially wipe out a huge number of those nasty bastards in record time. A wry smirk emerged on her face. Perfect. Lucky for her she had another little trick up her sleeve, and potentially take out these rotters quickly in turn. With one massive stomp, a powerful earthquake would rumble all around her and the KoDokugumon. Trees would shake, those on the trees ran the risk of being flung off, and those on the floor would have to fight just to keep their balance from this massive earthquake. And that was just the beginning. Out of the earth, 5 massive spires would rapidly emerge, around the feet of the coagulating KoDokugumon masses. Had they not moved out in time, if the spires didn't pierce them directly, plenty ran the risk of being sent flying by them instead. It was a desperate move, to be sure, but she knew she found the swarm's Achilles heel, and she had to do everything in her power to clear the swarm. How well would the swarm react to a massive attack like this?
To save Alan and Levi from being hit by KoDokugumon Swarm C's Poison Rain, Kenny runs in to activate his D-Nexus' Light Screen ability to save them from potential harm, for as long as possible. Meanwhile, Skadi aims to whittle the numbers even further by using Spiral Earthquake, summoning not just a massive earthquake to disorientate the swarm, but also 5 massive spires to pierce into the numbers of the KoDokugumon Swarm A, B and C in turn. Spiral Earthquake: A even much more stronger version of Spiral Tremor, Skadi stomps the ground several times to cause a powerful tremor to summon up to 5 spires to attack the enemies (if there is one enemy, then this becomes one huge spire instead), reaching up to 20 meters per spire, or 50 meters for the super spire. While this attack lacks the defence piercing capabilities of Spiral Tremor, it makes up for it with sheer power alone, and a 150 meter radius that causes an earthquake, disorienting all grounded Digimon (allies and enemies) and leaving enemies open to attack. (3 post cooldown) Light Screen: A screen of light that protrudes from the Digivice, allowing humans a minor degree of protection. It can weather up to three Rookie attacks or one Champion attack before collapsing. It can collapse with a 3-post recharge time two times in a thread. On the third recharge, it breaks. Not for Digimon usage. Passives:Mountaineer (Passive): Markhormon possesses a tough and well-rugged body that has survived even the harshest of winters. This in turn reduces damage from all Ice attacks by 50% and physical attacks by 30%. However, she takes 50% more damage from fire attacks.
