The Crystal Tyrant [A-Rank Mission]

Post by Omen, Chaddest of Chads on Mar 3, 2021 14:41:17 GMT
Much was in play that Omen wasn't aware of. Namely, she did not seem to realize that Kuro's voice was not quite something only she could hear. All she could really trust was the fact that there was a plan of sorts in place, even with Uncle Joker being Uncle Joker...
...
How could a single human girl be so calm in a situation like this? That was the main question that raced through Omen's mind as Nanami pet her head and told her not to be scared. How could someone be brave in the face of death like that? How could one vow to protect her when they needed to protect themselves more?
So, when the escape attempt happened, Omen tried to go after them. Yet her...body would not move. Fear was a very potent inhibitor. One that was more loathsome and irrational than anything. She nuzzled her head against Makoto, the guised fox's words seeming to have some effect. Also a single caramel.
"...I can't leave now. I'm sorry, but...I have a promise to keep." It was likely that her mother knew things would get like this. And she was no daughter of the Ophanim if she couldn't survive a single mission.
Though, a question did just strike her. "...Nanami? Where's Mocha? Mu-kun? And did you see any large penguins around here?" Assumedly, everyone was not in the cell with Gravhelstein. Which was probs good.
But there was work to be done.

While Gravhelsten's jaw didn't quite drop at the sight of Makoto's new/real appearance, he remained stunned silent for a good minute. Plenty of time for this rather crowded dungeon to catch up on things.
As Makoto comforted Omen like her own child, Nanami was looking around the rather crowded area. From Jokermon, to Yuko, to IceDevimon, to Joker's other minions, back to Omen and then Makoto, the girl's yellow eyes eerily moved around at disturbingly quick speeds as if she were taking note of every little detail. Granted, the vacant expression on her face would seem to contradict that assumption. Meanwhile, her Terriermon partner, who had yet to utter a single word at this point, held up one finger as she moved over towards an empty corner in the room. Then she proceeded to sting her hand in her mouth and let out a horrendous wretching noise.
And when Makoto and Omen asked their questions, Nanami stood at attention and began to answer, only her words were a jumbled mess, almost like her tongue was completely numb. "Bleh bleh bleh bleh..." Nanami blurted out, moving around her tongue. "It's shtill really numb, shee?" She stuck out her tongue and proceeded to bite it a couple of times. "I can't feel it at all!" And then after a brief period of time she put her hand over her mouth as tears looked like they were gonna come out of her eyes. "Ah... I feel it now... Ouchies..." But she seemed to shake her head and shook off the pain. Besides, from the scrapes and bruises she had all over her body at the moment, it looked like she was in worse pain.
"Hi, Makoto! I'm Nanami, and this is Cream!" She said in only a slightly slurred tone. She gestured over to the Terriermon, who returned holding a D-3 Digivice, a horrendously-awful mish-mash of brown, light green, and pink that didn't mix well together at all. And it was covered in... stuff. Nanami nervously laughed as she took the gross Digivice and rubbed it against her pants. "I guess... it's no worse than Mocha's boogers..." She commented, putting her Digivice away for the time being after wiping it off. "I guess that answers the first question, and I definitely heard something interesting from the guards!" She covered one half of her mouth, so the Icemon in the cell wouldn't be able to read her lips as she whispered towards the Renamon.
"So I heard one of them say that nobody likes Gravhelsten very much because he doesn't have a sense of humor. Plus they think he's weird because he has a crush on one of the IceDevidramon! Umm... Kraszansky always says he wants to be promoted but he's actually happy that he gets to be on guard duty with Stancsky all the time, because he's scared all of WinterWitchmon's other servants won't like him very much. Apparently they were childhood friends that turned to a life of crime together! And Stancsky doesn't like his job at all and would rather still be on the run from the law, but he's doing it because he thinks Kraszansky would get lonely without him! If you ask me, I think he's right!"
"We... don't know anything other than gossip, I'm afraid," Cream added, bowing her head briefly in apology. Her voice was still a little hoarse.
"And for the third question... Umm... I don't know what one of those is..." She nodded to Joker's interruption. "But if it makes me safe, then that means it's not making you guys safe, right? And if you're Omen's friends, then I don't wanna do something that would get you hurt..." She crossed her arms, looking down at the floor as if in thought. She heard Omen's question, and she let out an exasperated sigh.
"They're in jail," Cream answered instead. "Not this one, though."
"There's a little town a little way away called Crystal's Fury!"
"Crystalline Ferry."
"And there's this big 'ol ice statue of a funny-looking penguin holding ice cream bars in the center of town square!" She flailed her arms up and down, as if it were somehow a description of sorts. "Mocha wanted to carve a bunch of naughty words on there, but Mu-kun tried to stop her and..."
"The statue fell over and shattered into a thousand pieces," Cream finished. "Vandalism is apparently a very big deal there, because Mukuroyukihime and Mocha were imprisoned on the spot. We tried to plead their case, but apparently only their chief can pardon their crimes."
"So we asked to see their chief, and they say that he was here... somewhere!"
"The villagers admittedly left out some key details that would have been helpful to know..." Cream stated with an annoyed tone.
"Oh, but if you're all here to see the chief, too, then we can work together!" Nanami suggested. "It would be weird if we didn't after all! We're all friends now and everything! Besides, I've never seen a bunch of Digimon like you guys before... Foxymon, Clownmon, SkinnyIcemon, Funnybatmon, and Punkrockmon! Ah, and Omen is Omen!" She giggled to herself as if she made sense.
"Not even close, and I'm pretty sure the last one is just a human." And we can't forget about Lagi, can we? Complying with WinterWitchmon's orders, the two rode the elevator... though it seemed to move in a strange manner, apparently changing directions multiple times. And then she asked her question, while WinterWitchmon looked down for a second, a long, thin smile spread across her face. "That's right. I suppose if you're new here you wouldn't know, would you?"
She leaned down and grasped Lagi's shoulder so hard she would be unable to move. Her large, dead eyes connected with Lagi's as she whispered, "They eat little Digimon like you that ask questions when they should just remain silent and follow orders..." Then, after a brief pause, she let go and let out a hearty laugh. "Oh, forgive me! I just couldn't resist the opportunity!" And after another brief bout of laughter, WinterWitchmon spoke again. "The Tyrant simply eats Ice, my dear servant! Any kind! He devours ice-based data and integrates it into his being, becoming more powerful with every meal! It's why we've come so such a remote location!" The elevator door opened into a...
What looked like a nursery. Several chime-like icicles dangled from the ceiling, jingling and jangling about and above a rather extravagantly-crafted crystal crib. And inside the crib... was a white, spherical ball of fuzz, no bigger than a soccer ball, or foot ball, or whichever sports ball you prefer. A little crown of jagged ice crystals stuck out on the top of the creature's head. Small, ram-like horns jutted out from its back, and several deep-looking scars ran across its forehead. It opened its clear, ice-blue eyes that matched WinterWitchmon's and cried out, "Mama!"
"I'm back, dear!" WinterWitchmon announced in a silly voice, practically gliding over to the crib and scooping up the tiny white fuzzball in a single motion.
"Mama!" The fuzzball repeated in a much more elated tone. Then it started giggling as WinterWitchmon assaulted it with a flurry of kisses.
"Who's the most precious and adorable wittle child in the whole wide Digital World?" She asked the infant Digimon in a playful tone, rocking her child back and forth in her arms. The mother and child giggled together for a brief moment, before turning back to the disguised Lagi. "Now... mama's gotta prepare dinner now, but I don't want my precious little child to wait while he's all hungry, so I brought someone to play with you while you wait! This is..." She paused for a moment. "Actually, what is your name?"

As Omen nuzzled Makoto, the motherly fox would smile gently, scritching the back of the Wispmon's head. "There there, darling... It'll be okay." They'd softly reassure Omen - tails gently swishing back and forth. As Omen declined the offer for a Digiport home though, and explained her reasons why, Makoto would nod understandingly. "It's good to want to keep your promises - that's a good dear," They'd softly praise. "Just make sure you promise me that you'll be careful, and that you'll keep an eye out for your own safety, okay?"
"I'd be quite worried about you if you got hurt - and you won't be able to keep promises if you get yourself hurt - or worse - either." With that though, Makoto would set Omen down on the ground - giving the Wispmon an affectionate ruffle atop her head. "I'll trust you to know your own limits, though - okay dear?" They'd conclude, adding "It's okay to say so, if you ever decide you feel too scared or stressed to keep going." before turning their attention to Jokermon, overhearing the demon king and IceDevimon talking.
"I prefer 'they' and 'them' over 'he' or 'she', darling." Makoto would make sure to mention to Jokah firstly, smiling serenely. "But to answer your question, IceDevimon darling, you could say that I have quite a penchant for mimicking the forms of others, in my Armor Champion form. If I see your moves, I'll be able to mimic them in combat - so don't be afraid to show off, if we get into a fight~"
Next though, Makoto would turn their attention back to Nanami proper. As the human in question and her Terriermon companion began answering questions though, it'd quickly turn out that the majority of the information that Nanami and Cream knew would be... Well, not much. The main gist of it all would be gossip, as well as an explanation of how these two ended up in this situation. Nanami would also decline the Digiport as well, for a reason that would make Makoto smile warmly. "I appreciate your worry, darling. I only made the offer because I don't want either of you to get hurt, either." They'd state simply.
If noone here needed a digiport though, then that'd leave Gravhelstein - who they appeared to have left quite stunned. "Surprised, darling?" Makoto would chuckle faintly, smiling mischievously to the Icemon. "I wasn't kidding, when I said that you should be careful about fox digimon; we're quite the wily sort. I don't mean you any harm, though, dear; in fact... I'd like to offer you some safety."
Stepping up to the bars of the cell, Makoto would pull out their Digiport - which, by now, was fully charged. "From what we understand about WinterWitchmon, she doesn't appear to be a very kind ruler. She's willing to execute children, for Homeostasis' sake; and she also is willing to employ fire digimon, seemingly to keep you all in line - on top of the fact that she's willing to rule by fear and an iron fist, more than any actual care or respect." Makoto would speak - with a notable amount of fire for a brief moment, over the idea that WinterWitchmon saw no issue in executing Nanami - and all the while seeming to be picking out a location for the Digiport to key in on.
"With all of this in mind, I don't imagine that your fate will be very kind, if WinterWitchmon were to find out that you were unable to stop us from causing trouble in one of the jails in this tower; and I wouldn't wish to leave you to such a fate. So, I have a proposition for you, darling."
With this, they would briefly gesture to the Digiport in their hand, and begin explaining the proposition in question. "Give us information and answer our questions the best you can, and I'll open a Digiport for you, set either to Ys, or to Terminus - your choice. These are likely your safest bets - being far away from any digimon who may recognize you negatively - while also allowing you to either return here when the dust has settled, or otherwise find a new place for yourself."
"And for my own question, I'd personally like to know... Where are the other prisoners in this tower being held, dear?"

This wouldn't be so hard, right? All Lagi had to do here was to play dumb and 'serve' WinterWitchmon until further notice. Just smile and nod and agree with everything she says, then Mako will come in and save us all and they'll defeat her and I'll be fine. That's what she herself was doing right now... at least until the hag's tight grasp came hard upon her shoulders.
She practically felt chills run up her spine, but she didn't even know where.
Weakly laughing along with the hag's 'joke', she could feel a slight pang in her throat while hearing the WinterWitchmon's explanation; she wasn't really 'ice-based data', merely faking it so she could explore the castle as much as she could. How would she react if, no, when she found out the truth? Would she be executed right there on the spot? If so, then please Yggdrasil make it quick-
Wait a minute, where did they end up? Lagi's eyes quickly darted throughout the entire room, before landing onto the odd... creature laying inside the crib. Was this the tyrant they were talking about? She could only watch in surprise as the hag cooed over the baby. Yet, she dared not laugh or even crack a smile. Who knew what that thing was even capable of in the first place?
It's not like she didn't want to find out the hard way.
Wait, did she just tell that thing that she got her to 'play' with her? Opting to rather keep her mouth shut rather than risk running into even more trouble, she could only look up to the looming hag above her and simply salute her, "It's Lagi, ma'am. I'm one of the newer recruits here. I promise I'll keep your darling happy for as long as I possibly can!"

Frozen Tongue Girl introduced herself as Nanami, while her Terriermon was fittingly named Cream. She revealed that her D-3 had been rendered unusable following a rather… messy accident. Yuko puked a bit in her own mouth. “A Tamer is nothing without their Digivice, You should take better care of it, kiddo.” She advised her younger peer.
According to Nanami, the other Icemon weren’t that fond of Gravhelsten. There was also some… tension going on between Stancsky and Kraszansky. Jokermon clasped his hands and sighed wistfully. “Ahhh, to be young and in love… I mean, in a cordial relationship with a coworker.” He cheekily remarked, correcting himself at the last second.
Nanami also had some… interesting ideas of what everyone’s name was. “‘Punkrockmon’? Welp… Guess I’m a Digimon now!” Yuko shrugged. “You couldn’t pull the Digimon look if you tried, darling!” Her clown-like partner quipped, grinning widely. “Feminine-humanoid Digimon are usually a lot more… top-heavy.” He drew an invisible, curvy line over his chest. “Shut your mouth!” The female hooligan snarled at him, consciously wrapping her arms around her own, non-Digimon-worthy chest.
While Makoto was making Gravhelsten an offer he couldn’t refuse, Yuko tried to divert everyone’s attention away from her lackluster figure and back to the issue at hand. “So, let me get this straight… You accidentally destroyed Chief Daipenmon’s statue, which landed two of your friends in jail, and you came here hoping to rescue the Chief and be forgiven?” She gave Nanami and her partner a bewildered look, wondering how someone so small could cause so much trouble. “Anyway, Gravhelsten had better start talking, otherwise it’ll take ages for us to find the other prisoners in this huge place.” “The alternative, of course, would be getting the answer straight from WinterWitchmon’s lips.” Jokah added. “Somehow, I don’t think she’ll take kindly to us letting two of her prisoners escape and putting one of her lackeys behind bars.” The teenage Tamer pointed out.

Be careful? Sure. Omen felt like she could do that. She felt like she had enough control over this to continue being careful like she had before she had opted to yell 'Oh shit, a rat.' "...Thank you. I don't think I need to, but if I do, I'll say so." ...
Yes.
She knew what she needed to do. Omen would listen to Nanami's explanation, before listening to Makoto speak some more. Hm. It was very likely that she could take a few notes from their way of going on about things, truth be told.
"...Oi. Why do you have to do my good friend and teammate, Punkrockmon like that? She's perfectly fine the way she is, Uncle Joker. My mom says bodyshaming's bad." Omen concluded, before she would set about examining the area. "Gotta be something around here...Um. Cream, do you have anything on you that might help us further?" Probably not. But still. Nooks and crannies. That's what Omen was looking at here. Just in case for some reason, Gravhelstein didn't want to talk.
Though, there was one thing that bugged her, a bit. Everything was WinterWitchmon this, and WinterWitchmon that, but...Where was the Crystal Tyrant? WHO was the Crystal Tyrant?
"Also, Gravhelstein...If you don't mind me asking, not that I care if you do...Who even is the Crystal Tyrant?" ...Somehow, the sass of this one's parents kicked in at that time.

"It's okay!" Nanami assured Yuko, reaching up to pat her on the shoulder and give her a thumbs-up. "If you really want to, you'll definitely become like that when you Digivolve!" She pointed over to the Terriermon besides her. "Even Cream's get big when she digivolves!" Cream, however, wasn't paying attention. She shook her head when asked if she had anything important on her. Other than her cell phone Nanami gave her, she tended to travel light. She was more focused on the line of questioning from Makoto and Omen. And on Gravhelsten's reaction. He was listening patiently, remaining quiet as Nanami explained her situation, as well as overhearing the others talking. He nodded to Makoto as they offered him a deal, as well, as glance over to the Wispmon as she asked her question. "I see... So they were here to rescue the Chief of Crystalline Ferry..." He mused aloud, nodding as if in confirmation. "And you're looking for any other prisoners we have. Well..." He let out a sigh before answering. "I suppose you can set your Digiport... to go straight to hell!" Suddenly small runes began to cover his body as he suddenly split apart to many smaller chunks of ice and flew through the bars and straight towards the collective group. "Hailstorm Surger!!!"Almost reflexively, Nanami moved to jump in front of Makoto, and by extension, Omen. And nearly just as quickly, Cream threw herself up into the air with her ears expanded to block as many chunks as possible to protect her tamer. But a tiny Terriermon couldn't possible stop all the attacks, and if left unchecked, both Cream and Nanami were certainly going to sustain quite a bit of damage. Makoto and Omen would be left relatively undamaged, however. Sadly, Nanami didn't promise to protect Yuko, Joker, or any of their companions, so they were on their own. I'm not biased. You're biased. Regardless of how they reacted to Gravhelsten's act of aggression, the Icemon would follow up his attack by... reforming in front of the door, and promptly running out into the hall, yelling, "Intruders! Intruders!"
Relevant Abilities:
[Passive] Solid Ice Body - Icemon has an incredibly sturdy body, but is highly susceptible to fire. Damage from non heat or fire-based sources are reduced by 50%, but heat and fire-based attacks deal double damage.
[Active] Hailstorm Surger [RAM Upgrade] - A "boon" bestowed by WinterWitchmon's hacking abilities. The user can break their body apart into several solid chunks and slash, bludgeon, and pierce anyone within its 15m diameter area of effect. Afterwards, the user can reform anywhere within the attack's area. 3-post cooldown.
Active Cooldowns:
The chunks cover most of the hall. Gravhelsten is a Champion, so his attacks would probably smart a fair bit if they hurt.
And back in WinterWitchmon and the Crystal Tyrant's personal quarters, WinterWitchmon hummed gleefully as Lagi introduced herself and ensured the happiness and safety of the little Belphemon-esque baby. Though he was just a little head, he stared at Lagi with his icy blue eyes, curiousity within his pupils. "La... gi..." He repeated, as if he were trying out the syllables for the very first time. "That's right, my sweet little child!" WinterWitchmon proclaimed, ecstatic. She leaned down towards the Icemon and... offered her the Crystal Tyrant to hold within her arms. "He doesn't like it when you try to scare or surprise him, so peek-a-boo is... not a good idea," She commented. "Not if you want to keep your limbs... or head," She stood up straight, and said, "I'll be in the next room preparing a meal if you need me. If he starts to get too agitated, don't try to calm him down yourself. I'd rather not have to replace another one of you." With that said, she practically glided off to another room, humming her little song with a pep in her step. "Let's see... what should I make today... Oh! You'll do nicely!" She giggled from the other room as a brief flash of light erupted from the doorway, followed by a scratching sound. All-the-while the Crystal Tyrant looked up at Lagi with expectant eyes. "La... gi... La... gi..."So... how was the disguised Ghostmon going to entertain this small child?

As Omen reassured Makoto that she was fine, but would speak up if she needed to, the Renamon-X would nod with a warm smile. "That's good to hear, darling." Makoto responded - patting her on the head again, before turning their attention to more pressing things. Which, apparently, included Joker teasing Yuko in a fashion that the fox greatly disapproved of. Baring their fangs a little, the Renamon-X would - without any warning - SLAP! Joker across the face with their tails, stating quite firmly "Now is this really the time and place to be making such quips? Judgemental and inappropriate quips in front of children, at that!" Huffing, Makoto would narrow their eyes a little, concluding with an upturned nose "One would think that a self-proclaimed king would have far more tact than this - or know how an adult should behave around younger individuals - but I suppose that the standards for royalty have fallen, in recent times; such a shame."Even Kuro seemed a little surprised at this, if the way the shadow jolting a bit at Makoto's outburst was of any indication. After a few seconds of silence though, Kuro would carefully - gently - reach out to Yuko's mind with a brush of reassurance, murmuring <Don't worry... Makoto is just... particular, about these sorts of things. We both think you look just fine, though.> Given the link that Kuro and Makoto said, the shadow would be able to state this last bit with confidence. Before long though, came the question of questioning Gravhelstein - something that would quickly go pear-shaped, when the Icemon would attempt to attack everyone, instead of answering their questions! As the hailstorm raged past, Makoto wasted no time in digivolving into a large Reppamon, with five metallic tails! "Behind me, dears!" They would call over the howling winds - using their body to shield the brunt of the attack, even as sharp icy stones would cut and batter against their hide. Kuro was clearly agitated - the shadow's movements jittery, whippy, jagged - but Makoto wouldn't call on it just yet. <Not yet, Kuro darling.> They'd reassure their familiar, a wry hue to their expression even past the wince of pain <You'll know when it's time; for now, I have a plan.>And quite a plan it'd be - the Reppamon beginning by using a paw to activate the Digiport; opening a portal to Terminus. All the while though, around the tips of a few of their tails, a pair of fiery rings would form; the flames might've been weakened to sparks and embers, but that did not concern Makoto - all they needed was the ring shape. And once properly formed, they would flick their tails to 'toss' the rings - one coming to a stop just in front of Gravhelstein - blocking the doorway - and the other just in front of the Digiport portal, only to become a pair of portals of their own! Were the plan to succeed, Gravhelstein would likely run straight into Makoto's Portals of Fire - sending him in one portal, and out the other, straight into a one-way trip to Terminus!
- Makoto digivolves into Reppamon; shielding as many of the group as they can from Gravhelstein's Hailstorm Surger with their body! - Next, Makoto activates a Digiport set to Terminus - and using Portals of Fire - attempts to trick Gravhelstein into going through the Digiport's portal! Move Used: [ABILITY; RAM GIGA] Portals of Fire: Makoto forms a pair of rings of purple fire, before 'throwing' them to their intended locations, where they begin to hover in place. Both rings act as a pair of portals, which Makoto can use to transport objects or people (including themself) once placed! The portals can either be closed at will by Makoto, or can be left up for others to use; lasting until the end of Makoto's next turn, upon which they disappear. [3 Turn Cooldown] Passives:[NONCOMBAT PASSIVE] Fantail: Unlike most Reppamon, Makoto's tail is not one blade, but five. Though too stiff to actually manipulate objects with, they can be angled as needed, move independently of each other, as well as fold/unfold themselves like a giant warfan.
[NONCOMBAT PASSIVE] Masksense: Though Makoto's eyes are covered by a mask like most Reppamon, they are still able to 'perceive' their surroundings and those near them, like a sixth sense of sorts.
[PASSIVE] Shadowy Fox: Makoto is swift on their feet, compared to most digimon. On top of that, their form sometimes looks as though it's not entirely there during combat - their fur disorientingly rippling with wisps of shadows and smoke, especially in places of dim light. As a result, they are quite difficult to aim at - increasing their evasion by 30% Cooldowns:Portals of Fire - 0/3

In Lagi's honest-to-goodness opinion, even she would have to concede that the literal tiny tyrant trying his darnedness to pronounce her name properly was actually pretty adorable... if it wasn't the same tyrant somehow helping to raise hell and causing chaos all throughout the land. What wasn't helping was his hag of a mother suddenly handing her the same tyrant. Initially, the 'Icemon' would simply blink in silence, before reluctantly, yet gently, scooping the baby into her arms.
Even while carefully listening to WinterWitchmon telling her how to handle this baby, and nodding along as she spoke, already her mind was practically stuck on loop at this point: just play along, Mako will be here soon. They had to be. She swore she'd knew it. But wait!? What would Mako think, her taking the time to entertain their target just to ensure she'd live to survive (and haunt) another day? It'll be fine. Once we're done, I'll just explain everything to them! They'll understand!
...would they?
Speak of the devil, just as Lagi's eyes slowly landed onto the tiny tyrant the baby would echo her name once more. WinterWitchmon's words were practically ringing in her head as she stared at the baby. She could feel her blood run cold the longer she held onto the baby. Mako never had to deal with anything like this! They were the lucky one! All they had to deal with earlier was a couple of young, impressionable Digimon, not a literal tyrant that could potentially rip them to shreds so much if they looked at him funny!
What would Mako do in this situation?
How would Mako handle this situation?
With the literal demon baby that could effortlessly slaughter them?
...
"It's OK, sweetie, Lagi's here now." Her voice was barely a calm whisper as she gently stroked the tyrant's head, "I won't hurt you, I promise. I'll take care of you until mummy comes back, don't worry." In what could be considered a risky move in a situation like this, she would gently nuzzle her cheek against the tyrant with a small smile.
Yggdrasil willing, this would work out for the best!

Jokermon’s inappropriate comments earned him not only Omen’s disapproval, but also a slap on the face courtesy of Makoto. The previously smug jester evidently did not appreciate that, frowning deeply. “How dare you lay a hand - I mean, tail - on the Demon King?! To the dungeon with you! IceDevimon, open the door and shove this impudent fox in!”Despite the self-proclaimed Demon King barking orders, the cell door didn’t need to be opened, for the Icemon trapped inside was already trying to get out, rejecting Makoto’s offer and attacking the group. The latter was quick to Digivolve and shield the humans from the salvo of icicles. The Vilemon also rushed to their aid, forming a hideous Meatshield beside the now quadruped fox. “Thanks, Vilemon! Thanks, Mako-chan!” Yuko cried out. As for Jokah, he jumped backwards and produced his ruby-colored scythe out of thin air yet again. “I’ll have you know that Hell is a lovely vacation spot this time of year! Fortuna Wheel!” The demonic harlequin exclaimed, deflecting the icy projectiles flying towards him and IceDevimon by rotating his scythe in front of him at incredible speed. With her illusionist skills, Makoto tried to trick Gravhelstein into getting through a one-way Digiport disguised as an attack. If it worked, it would no doubt be hilarious! It was then that IceDevimon loomed behind the sentient pile of rocks. “I do declare. Where do you think… you’re going? Leather Wing!” By flapping his large, hole-riddled wings, the snowy devil produced a dark, sinister wind that would hopefully push Gravhelstein straight into Makoto’s set of portals. Jokermon: RAM UPGRADE: Fortuna Wheel [Attack]: The user rotates his scythe in front of him at incredible speed, deflecting a magical, elemental and/or energy-based attack of Champion-level or below, or reducing the impact if it is of higher level. Has a 3 turn cooldown.
RAM UPGRADE GIGA: Demon King's Charisma [Passive]: If the user was not hit by any attacks in the previous turn, reduce all of his cooldowns by 1. This ability itself is not affected by this, having a natural cooldown of 3 turns.
Passing Trump [Passive]: Bestows "good luck" on the whole party. Allies find their attacks slightly easier to hit and doing slightly more damage.
Vilemon (x6): Meatshield [Attack]: The entire swarm of Vilemon form a wall in front of an ally to shield them from an attack, blocking a Champion-level attack or lower, while reducing the impact from an Ultimate-level attack. Has a 3 turn cooldown.
IceDevimon: Leather Wing [Attack]: Flaps his wings to summon a dark tornado, hitting multiple opponents. Has a 2 turn cooldown.
Cooldowns: Fortuna Wheel - 0/2 Demon King's Charisma - 0/3 Meatshield - 0/3 Leather Wing - 0/2

Was this lump of gravel just...that eager to potentially melt over this? Omen was unsure, but the negotiations went south very swiftly. It was strange that he had nothing to say to either Nanami's explanation or Makoto's deal. Was...Was the intent just always to never consider any of that? It didn't matter. You were wrong to hope that.Just as swiftly as it had come to a pause, chaos resumed among the jail, as Omen found two people jumping in front of her. Why did they have to get themselves hurt for her...? Why? Omen felt something starting to boil over within her, the Wispmon gritting her teeth and letting a growl escape. The simmering of one who was tired of being helpless against Homeostasis-damned ROCKS... The Wispmon kicked off, above the Vilemon as the flame on her stomach burst out like a horror movie and consumed her, leaving only her cloak, which elongated to match the lengthening specter of the Digimon as for once in her life, the Fatebreaker's child opted to stop hiding. "I'll send you straight to hell myself! Teumessos Blaze!" The fox resumed the form of flames as they shot forth, surging around to try slamming herself into Gravhelstein just as she regained a corporeal form to try knocking him into the portal. ... Deja vu.
Relevant Passives: Fatekeeper [Ram Upgrade GIGA]: This individual is 'blessed' with an eidetic memory, which doesn't do much outside of combat outside of meaning 'she remembers things super good.' In combat, however, this recordkeeping memory is best used as a means to recall. And with this digimon, recollection can serve more than one singular purpose. She can replace Fatekeeper with any passive ability she has learned about. Doing this locks the passive in for three posts, before it may be changed again.
Truth-Seeking Lens [Passive]: For how squishy one might consider Omen in this form, she is far removed from the term 'weak.' Opponents who employ mental abilities of any kind, especially hypnosis, pacification, or mind control, will find that Teumesmon is COMPLETELY immune to them.
Fleeting Light [Passive]: One would be a piss poor fox if they were, as an azure hedgehog once said, too slow. Teumesmon is 30% swifter than most Digimon of her level, as a result, though her durability is below par to compensate.
All-Knower [Passive - RAM Upgrade]: Teumesmon is able to replace this passive with any that she has learned about. If she does this, the passive will remain for three posts before she is able to switch it out once more.
Having been shielded like, three times by various individuals, Omen is largely safe from Gravhelstein's attack. She is, however, livid at how helpless she seems here. So livid, in fact, that it induces a digivolution into Teumesmon, and a very strange gambit with Teumessos Blaze to try fighting the guard with, even with the potentiality of her fires being weakened. Teumessos Blaze: Omen converts her ENTIRE BODY into a storm of fire that surges for an opponent, aiming to engulf them for severe damage. Intangible as she may be, she is a white-hot hazard for any who would lay a hand on the flames. She can still sustain damage like this, too, and reverts to normal once she either hits with this or misses. This attack can and will ignore shields! Three post cooldown. Cooldowns: Teumessos Blaze: 0/3

Gravhelsten continued to run forward, attempting to flee from being outnumbered in a crowded space with so many enemies. It was in his domain after all... why shouldn't he get some help? So he did his best to ignore his enemies for now and call for help! And yet, his opponents had something to say on that matter. A Digiport suddenly appeared right in front of the Icemon, but he managed to skid to a stop in time to stop himself from simply running through it. And yet, the attacks from IceDevimon and a newly evolved Teumesmon, the dark winds and surging flames striking into the Icemon, too busy trying to flee to properly dodge. Gravhelsten let out a scream of pain and panic before being unceremoniously thrust somewhere in Terminus. Through the portal, they could see his shocked expression and a sudden look of realization. He rushed back towards the portal, aiming to get his revenge, yet the portal closed up before he could return to his duties. It seemed like this battle was won without much injury.
And speaking of injuries, thanks to Makoto's self-sacrifice, as well as a squadron of meatshields, Nanami and Cream were unharmed for the most part. That sure was convenient!
"That was really cool, everyone! You were like, 'rawr here's my portals', and then you were like, 'imma spin my scythe around even though it's weighted heavily on one side' and then you were like, 'imma chase you down even though I got holes in my wings' and then Omen got all big and glowy any threw fire and made the whole castle start glowing, too!" The went over to pat the newly-evolved Teumesmon on the head. "I guess picking you up for a hug's out of the question now! But I bet you could pick me up from now on!" Well, aside from the whole, open flames thing. But friendship could handle a couple fires or two, right? Nanami certainly seemed to believe so.
"Right. What she's... trying to say is, 'thank you for helping us'," Cream added, nodding to everyone, and to the Vilemon in particular. "Good work."
But now that it was over, there still begged the question... what was everyone going to do now? And Lagi's attempt to comfort the Crystal Tyrant went by... surprisingly well. "Wa-woo wa-wooo" The Tyrant mouthed out as his cheeks rubbed against Lagi's. He didn't look particularly pleased, but he certainly wasn't displeased, either. It seemed like this little child was used to constant affection. And... this seemed to placate the frozen demon Digimon. "Wa-wooo..." It repeated once more, for emphasis.
And after a couple more flashes of light from the kitchen, heavens know what was going on in there, WinterWitchmon returned holding a baby bottle in her hands, clear as crystal with some black liquid that looked like it hand some white stripes of something in there. "I'm ba~ck!" She announced in a sing-songy voice, wasting no time in retrieving her child and rocking him back and forth. "Did you miss me, darling?" She asked the little infant.
"Wa-woo..." He answered as if he actually understood the question.
"Oh, wa-woo indeed!" WinterWitchmon replied with a sunny disposition. She held the bottle up to the white-haired demon, rubbing the mouthpiece onto his lips until his mouth finally latched onto the bottle. "Today's little meal is BlackGarurumon flavored! Do you remember BlackGarurumon?" If he did, the Tyrant's eyes didn't show any recognition.
And then, something strange happened. Runes along the walls of the room began to glow a faint orangish light, then disappeared as quickly as they appeared. WinterWitchmon let out an annoyed groan. Though she clearly was irritated, she continued to speak in a bright, cheery voice while holding the baby. "Oh my, it seems like someone's setting off a little fire somewhere in the castle! I wonder if one of the Meramon is getting uppity outside of Daipenmon's containment room! They always get so very restless and bully the Icemon!" She adjusted the Tyrant in her arm so she could feed him yet still have a free hand, and ran her finger through the air. And with a look of confusion, she did so again.
"How strange..." She muttered, before turning to Lagi. "You. Lagi, was it? I have more work for you. I can't seem to contact Gravhelsten, so you'll have to do. Head towards the dungeons and check on the prisoners. After that, head to the Warm Room and tell BlueMeramon to secure his prisoner! Now give me your hand!" She dragged her finger across Lagi's palm. It would hurt a bit, but a key made of ice suddenly jutted out of the disguised Icemon's hand.
"Use that key to move anywhere you would like within the confines of this castle. Just insert it into any frozen surface, and an elevator will appear. All you have to do is picture the room you want to go to. Now go, and report back to me once you've finished your tasks. And if you come across an idiot jester, two IceDevimon, a filthy human, and his bumbling minions, and Gravhelsten is nowhere to be found, don't believe a word they say, and don't confront them. We'll deal with them once feeding time is over! Now go!"
And not but a moment later was, "Lagi bye-bye..."

That was a very quick series of events that had luckily ended in the favor of everyone present, because if honesty was to be had at all in a party of tricksters and foxes, here and there? It would have likely turned for the worse if Gravhelstein had been allowed to escape. Mide had...taken a moment to look down at herself. She was seemingly lacking arms--front legs? Yet kept upright by phantom limbs that occasionally sparked with flame.
"Huh...Um...What happened to me...?" The Teumesmon murmured, before she felt a hand pat her on the head. Nanami actually went and did that. Oh no. The Teumesmon could legitimately not help but nuzzle against the hand. It felt nice, could one really blame her? "I think so? But I'm on four legs, so that's a bit tough..."
Especially after the genuinely shitty time she had had for the past few rounds? "...You're my best friends. Of course I would help you." She affirmed, before she took a moment to reassess what they were here for.
Chief Daipenmon was still missing and had not been found. In addition, there was still little to no information on the Crystal Tyrant. There was also likely going to be someone else coming given she had reportedly made the whole castle light up. According to Nanami.
...Hm. "Hey. If these are the jails, then...where's Daipenmon? Wait-...Um. How large are Daipenmon usually? Dai- usually implies like, great, right? Big? And we still don't know who the Tyrant is because Gravelstain's kind of a buttmunch...We should probably set about finding Daipenmon. That...should be easy, right?"
They were in the goddamn dungeons! Where could they stuff a big penguin here?

As Gravhelstein disappeared through the portals - which closed behind him, leaving him in Terminus - Makoto would let out a heavy sigh; a hint of agitation still present in them and their shadow both, but they otherwise could relax a bit. For now, the danger had passed, and everyone could rest easy. Nanami, however, seemed to be doing more than just resting easy; she was utterly enthused, over the whole situation! The enthusiasm and joy that the young girl displayed would draw a warm laugh out of Makoto - who'd respond "I appreciate that, darlings." to Nanami and Cream both.
Glancing to everyone proper though, the Renamon-turned-Reppamon would take a moment to survey everyone's conditions - asking "Is anyone here hurt, dears?" as they sniffed the air, to try and see if there was any scents of liquid data or blood - which would be a definite sign of injury. From the looks of things though, the youngsters and humans in the group were mostly - if not completely - unharmed; which was a relief.
Omen, though, seemed a bit disoriented - to which Makoto would hum thoughtfully. "Was that your first time digivolving to Champion, darling?" They'd ask knowingly - padding over, and giving the Teumesmon a gentle and loving nuzzle. "Let us know if you need a second - the transition from two legs to four might require a bit of adjusting to, and Homeostasis knows I was initially tripping on my own paws, when I first digivolved to Reppamon." How long ago had that been, they couldn't help but wonder...?
As their gaze cast towards Jokermon, however, well... That nostalgic feeling of theirs would fade away to a hue of distaste - made clear by the soft growl that the Reppamon let out. "Don't think I've forgotten about your conduct, however, dear." They'd state firmly to the self-proclaimed Demon King, their words as sharp as the gaze that was staring him down from behind their mask.
"The next time you think that you can act as you please, just because being called out for your behavior hurt your fragile ego - behavior that is more befitting to a spoilt brat than an adult, let alone a supposed king, I might add - do understand that I won't hesitate to send you through a portal to Homeostasis-knows where, for the sake of making sure your buffoonery doesn't compromise the mission or get anyone here hurt."
Speaking of portals... Makoto would make a point to get the Digiport charging once more. They weren't sure if it would be ready before their next encounter or not - but having this safety net in place was nonetheless comforting to them.
With that all being said and done though, Omen would present a question - a good question at that. Kuro hadn't found anything in their general surroundings, and so Makoto would have to ponder this over with a thoughtful hum. "... If I had to make an educated guess..." They'd muse out loud, continuing "I'd assume that the other prisoners are being held elsewhere in the tower - though where, exactly, is hard to say." Assuming that they were still alive, at least; WinterWitchmon's policy of executing everything she saw didn't exactly inspire confidence.
"We could either attempt wandering this castle in hopes of finding a lead, or otherwise attempt going straight to WinterWitchmon and dealing with her directly."

Lagi could practically feel her palms shaking as she held onto the literal tiny tyrant. But the noises he kept making sounded almost... adorable? How? One part of her internally had to confess; she started to find herself attached and endeared to the cuddly hellbeast.
Almost like if she forgot it could potentially devour her alive in one massive gulp.
In the midist of her cuteness euphoria, only when she felt WinterWitchmon take him out of her arms in one fell swoop would she find herself snapping out of her self-induced(?) trance, glancing up to the hag with her baby once more. Yet being given a moment to think to herself, she could swear that she could feel Mako (or, at least, her projection of them) expressing sheer disappointment in her, for 'siding' with the bad guy and potentially jeopardizing the mission.
She had a lot of explaining to do: how she only took the form of an Icemon just to not raise any alarm bells, how her misguided wandering led her up to the tyrant by complete mistake, and how she only had to lay low for the time being just so neither WinterWitchmon and/or the Tyrant would spot the thread and derail the entire thing the second she stepped out of line.
Speak of the Devimon, thanks to the hag losing connection to one 'Gravhelsten', Lagi would stand firm and nod accordingly as WinterWitchmon addressed her, and, on command, would indeed give her hand over to the hag, wincing a little as the ice key magically appeared out onto her palm.
She wouldn't cry. Not for Mako.
Even under that wincing, Lagi would still smile and nod to the WinterWitchmon's orders, before saluting her once more with her free hand, "Yes, ma'am! I'll be back before you know it!" But as she started to set off towards the nearest icy wall, she could hear the tyrant address her once more. She could only give a sad smile as she glanced at him.
"Don't worry, little guy," She gently reassured him, "Auntie Lagi will be back soon, I promise. And then, we can play some more, sound good?" With that, she'd continue her path towards the wall, and stick the key into it. All the while, she internally repeated one simple mantra as she waited for the aforementioned elevator to spawn:
Enter the elevator, go to the dungeon, check on the prisoners, tell BlueMeramon... Enter the elevator, go to the dungeon, check on the prisoners, tell BlueMeramon... Enter the elevator, go to the dungeon, check on the prisoners, tell BlueMeramon...
